it's time we discussed a h2o reboot. like a full-on reboot, not a continuation nor a prequel of the original series, or a supposedly in-universe spin-off like mako mermaids
we definitely need more diversity race-wise since the original series is startlingly white. we definitely also need lgbt representation, maybe if two characters in the new mermaid trio had powers like rikki and emma they could have a canon relationship? or perhaps the lewis-type science geek in this version of events could be the girlfriend to this universe's cleo. obvi less misogynistic undertones in the writing is a must (see: the treatment of literally any female character other than emma, rikki, cleo, and bella h2o just add water)
at the risk of making the series needlessly gritty, delving into the darker aspects of canon could be a fun time. in the og series we have hiding secrets from family, kidnapping, grooming metaphors, fantasy violence, half a dozen near-death experiences, and allusions to mental ill health that could be further expanded upon in a reboot. i do feel like it would be near impossible to go through everything the merms do in the original series without ending up traumatised, so as a fellow mentally ill girlie i would like to see it!!
other than that, more explanation surrounding the lore could be cute. perhaps the new merms search the oceans for more moon pools, or stumble upon other mermaids. perhaps we could learn about different powers, how many generations of mermaids there are, delve more into the astronomy of it all with different lunar cycles impacting the merms in different ways. of course over-explaining the lore can take the magic out of it, but if done correctly it could be fun to explore
i'm really scratching my head trying to figure out how the og series could be improved upon in a hypothetical reboot so any and all suggestions are welcome!!!!

Power of Silence: Musa's Voice Loss Arc in Season 6
While rewatching Season 6 and getting to the episodes where Musa loses her voice due to Rumpelstiltskin, following Selina's command, I couldn't help but wonder if there might be a deeper meaning to this particular arc.
It's often said that when you lose something very important to you—whether it's your health, a loved one, or your fortune—only then you're likely to gain a new perspective on life. Events like these force you to take the time to reflect, become more perceptive, and reorganize your priorities.
In Musa's case, her voice, described as powerful and rare in nature, along with her perfect pitch I imagine, is likely something she can't imagine her life without. I dare say these two complement her as a human and a fairy. When she loses her voice, she's quite devastated, and feels vulnerable. However, she still manages to conduct an orchestra and create a magic shield powerful enough to protect her school, so it's obvious she can still thrive without being able to speak.
The voice loss arc turns out to be crucial for Musa and Riven. First, let me quote what Riven said:
Riven: Musa, that was incredible! I mean it! Even without a voice, you put on the most amazing concert. You saved Alfea. I just wish I could be half as remarkable as you. I wasn't able to save your voice, and I couldn't be there for you once it was gone. You deserve better. (...) Musa, there's something I've been meaning to get off my chest. I'm supposed to be there for you every day, to support you and protect you as a Specialist and as your boyfriend. But right now, I'm just not capable of doing either one of those things. (S6, EP23)
What I'd like to emphasize is that I can imagine Musa would have interrupted Riven right away in the past, expressing her unwillingness to see him or something. However, now she can't do that, and she's somewhat compelled to listen to what he's saying. This situation forces her to pause and listen attentively, gaining a deeper understanding of Riven's sentiments. Additionally, Riven might feel it's his opportunity to speak and convey his feelings, now that he has a chance to be heard. In this moment it's his turn to fill the silence with something he has to say. And what he says is connected to how he currently feels about himself as well:
Riven to Sky: I give up. You will always be the leader of the Specialists. And I will always be runner-up. (...) It's not just this match, Sky. No matter how hard I try, or how close I get, I always come up short. If I don't change something, I'll never reach the top. (S6, EP23)
Riven to Musa: I guess I just have to figure out a way to be a hero to myself, if that makes sense. You always got me, Musa. (S6, EP23)
I must confess, I was moved when Riven mentioned that he needed to find a way to be a hero to himself. This single line serves as further evidence of his internal struggle, where his ambitions clash with the deep-seated issues of low self-esteem and an inferiority complex. It seems that witnessing his girlfriend lose something precious, and being powerless to help her, became a breaking point for him. In the private moment they share, he admits that he is far from being the person he aspires to be—not just for her but for himself as well. This revelation underscores the depth of trust he places in her. He can reveal his vulnerability when Musa's around, so there is a profound beauty in that scene.
Despite the numerous plot absurdities, with the season feeling very disconnected from S5 or S4 as if the previous seasons never happened, and acknowledging that the arc itself could have been explored more effectively (I won't delve into the entire portrayal of Rivusa in Season 6 and its issues), the core concept of Musa losing her voice was still commendable and essential in my opinion.

After reading Sparked by the amazing @rist-ix, my brain flew into overdrive and wouldn't let me rest until I'd written some sparkxshipping of my own. So that's what I did. Summary:
There has never been any doubt that Domino will be his. The crown jewel of his conquest. The seat from which he will rule all the realms. The only thing standing in his way is the current keeper of the Flame. The lost princess turned victorious ruler. The living insult to his mothers. Valtor is looking forward to meeting Queen Bloom of Domino.

@supraobsessed replied to your poll:
When Stella said that she was raised like a perfect stranger that always gave me the vibe that they were too busy hating each other to love her. She also mentions that her parents will only care if she gets bad grades •́  ‿ ,•̀ I definitely imagine they became much better parents to her once they divorced because they actually started paying attention to her again instead of what the other one did this time
I absolutely agree. I think her emotional needs were heavily neglected when she was young, especially in her early teen years when she used to sneak out of the palace and go to parties. Her parents definitely are the root reason for her abandonment issues and her arguably excessive need to be validated and liked by others.
To me, her parents (well, mostly her father because we barely know anything about her mother) weren't always neglectful because she speaks fondly of her memories with her father; she mentions them going for long walks and holding hands, and if the flashbacks are anything to go by, she seemed very happy and carefree as a kid. I'm leaning toward thinking she had at least a partially happy childhood.
In my headcanon, she tries so hard to bring her parents back together because she is convinced they can all one day go back to the good old days when they were happy and her parents were showing her attention instead of being busy arguing with each other. However, her parents obviously aren't on the same page as her, and it's very unfortunate how they seem to have forgotten about her amid their differences.

Who do you think out of the wotbc is more popular with the ladies?
It just popped in my mind as I've started watching the nick dub. I'm half Italian so I've always watched them in the original language, and maybe sometimes in the rai English dub since their voices are more unique and the script is more faithful to the og, however in ep 13 after the fight between bloom and ogron, as she faints he says "I have that effect on women"
If you still can't flirt after being alive for like over 400 years just give up at that point smh
I'd say Anagan would win that with Ogron a close second? Their main difference being Anagan is naturally flirty and social while Ogron is charming, but that's not his default, if that makes sense? I'm not calling him fake or anything not to his face, it's just different. They're both pretty though! Also have "Let me buy you a drink" potential (affectionate?).
I think Duman appeals to a certain demographic men in terms of uhh visuals, like he looks interesting. Personality is probably an acquired taste though idk? Could always just. Go out of his way to match someone's preferences and. Lie. Maybe not very healthy and definitely not good for anything long term, but y'know.
I'd like to think Gantlos is fairly popular actually. Maybe it's because in my mind he is tall, and tall with long hair hits in a way. I can see it working out for him. That being said? I don't think he cares nearly as much as the others, it's all very casual to him. Could definitely flirt if he wanted to, but overall he's kinda standoffish about it all. Some people like that though. ''Suffering'' from success.

i think i've said this before but i used to really not Understand or like timmy and helia being best friends but it really grew on me over time. obviously their main bestie is tecna and flora respectively, but specifically for just the specialists, i really like them now.
i just tend to think about timmy being this really self-conscious guy who is constantly being looked down on by his peers and even his crush, who is so committed to being a specialist but starts to doubt if he's worthy, who wants so badly to have a Special Someone who understands him,,, being put into this team where two of the members are already best friends and have an insane amount of history and loyalty to each and you can't just Get in the middle of that and the other guy is really, really stuck in his I Don't Need Friends They Disappoint Me Stage. like,,, the loneliness? the loneliness of not having a Best Friend on the team? then he finds tecna but even she starts to look down on him?
like,,, the toll that would take on someone is,,, not fun to think about. while they may not have a lot of scenes together, timelia being best friends is honestly so cute and makes so much sense. timmy had to put up with so much bullshit from the specialists (affectionate), finding someone who isn't going to look down on you, or doubt you, or always think of you as a Secondary Friend is So Important and that's such a big aspect of their friendship. timmy really trusts helia! and you can see this especially in the comics when he gets so mad that helia leaves. he's literally never acted like that with any of the other specialists! in the show or in the comics, timmy may get a little sad, but he never gets that angry and that desperate to contact whoever left. it just,,, says so much about him,,,
like timmy gets painted a lot as this nerd who only cares about tecna (and like. yes. true) but more than that, he's a very sensitive and caring guy who yearns for deep, trusting relationships. tecna is 100% his best friend and special person, but the friendship that timmy builds with the specialists and even the other winx is so important. he craved close relationships so much,,, and it's so nice that they didn't go into the loser lonely nerd trope.
i just really like that timmy was able to find friends that truly respect and love him. and specifically timmy being best friends with helia makes so much sense when you stop thinking about their interests and personalities, and instead think about how much the two of them craved people they could trust, people who would never make them feel less than, people who wouldn't treat them like backup friends, people they could actually connect to. it's just,,, they're so important to me actually <3
