Eddie runs into the room, jeans soaked from the knee down, hands flailing. “We have a problem.”
Peeking over the book you’re reading, you watch as he scurries to the linen closet, running back to the laundry room with a stack of towels.
You huff out a laugh, bookmarking the page in your book before following behind Eddie to the washing machine.
There are suds everywhere. Big, fluffy bubbles fill the floor of the small laundry room, water splashing from the machine to make the foam rise higher.
“What did you do?”, you ask, running over to shut the machine off.
“I did what you told me to!”, he shouts over the sound of the machine sputtering, water pouring onto the floor.
You finally get the machine off, letting out a sigh of relief as the water stops. Your eyes fall to the bottle of dish soap on the dryer next to it.
“Is this what you used?”, you pick it up and practically shove it in his face.
“Y-yeah?”
“I told you to use laundry detergent! This is dish soap!”
“Is that not the same?”, Eddie asks sheepishly.
You move to grab the towels to start cleaning up, slipping in the suds as you fall into the bubbles.
Eddie’s arm shoots out to grab you, and you manage to pull him down into the bubbles with you. He lands on top of you, chest vibrating as you both break into laughter.
“M’sorry”, he murmurs against your cheek.
“I know. You gotta be a little more careful next time, babe.”
“How about we just do laundry together from now on, hmm? That way I get to spend time with you.” He cups your cheek with his hand, “and you get to make sure I don’t fuck anything up.”
You smile, pressing your foreheads together. “Deal”, you whisper as you capture his lips in a sweet kiss.
