Hey, there! I'm good, thanks. Resting a little after ClexaWeek before I get back into my almost-finished WIPs. How about you? :)

🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both?

I never do reader inserts so, OC by default. I've created very few of those so far, though. The main one I can think of was Sloan in Ad Astra, and some people in Polis in On the Ground, especially the Nightbloods. I'm enjoying it and looking forward to developing them in the next part!

Though one. Our fandom is blessed with so many excellent writers, it's impossible to choose!

Today I'm in the mood for some banter and fun, so I would recommend Spelling It Out by Brilliant5134 (who I only just realized changed their name). It's a Harry Potter AU, but with Clarke and Lexa as wand makers' apprentices. It's hilarious, original, and super well written. The first few chapters make me laugh aloud every time I read it.

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction

Blame the pandemic... xD

I can't remember how but I stumbled onto some Clexa fics by accident back in 2019, and it made me want to rewatch the show. From there, I found Ao3 and read maaaany fics, especially when the lockdown started where I was. And since I found myself with too much free time on my hands, I started writing too.

I used to tell a lot of stories when I was a kid, but as I grew older and no one encouraged me (my family is more into science and "practical" studies than arts), I forgot that part of myself. I still loved to read and spent hours imagining epic tales while I should have been sleeping, but I kept them to myself. It's only when I discovered fanfiction, and especially Clexa, that I finally dared to let some of them out :)

Hi Aurelie! Would you recommend watching bridgerton from season 1 to fully understand Penelope and Colin’s relationship or can I just go straight into season 3?

I think it's best to watch from the beginning to understand the whole story, but I think you can also skip the main couple parts of their respective season because they don't affect (or is it effect??) the Colin/Penelope relationship.

That being said, I love all the interactions they have with other characters on the show and you will miss out on so much fun stuff if you only watch season3.

So long answer short, yes I do recommend to watch from season 1 :p

first of all, i might sound absolutely insane for this but hear me out: i've been told (and this might be fake so i don't really know) that phones nowadays have this really cool feature (again, never tried it myself so i don't know) called a flashlight???? i have no idea but it's supposed to make a light so you can see things better in the dark and not use your screen... anyway, just a tip for you bestie!

and now, i'm gonna be serious again: i might change it just out of spite. i really just might. making it absolutely pitch black. my next theme is actually gonna absorb light, it's gonna be insane.

People complaining that naksu is too innocent but she thought he wanted to have sex on a public walkway next to a lake and was like “kinda freaky but okay” she’s not innocent, she’s kind and lacks power, but still makes the decision to fight back regardless. We haven’t seen her with a blade yet but there’s a hundred percent chance she opens naksus sword while living with jang uk and freaks everyone out (I hope her opening her sword is a big moment bc that was what she was working towards in the first season and also bc the last time she had it she impaled the man she loved on it and I love that)

she really was down for it lmao and yeah I agree, based on how she's been living for the past 3 years (locked up with only her family and some guards for company) and what she's been told about herself, I'm not surprised by her attitude and personality - she thinks she's the daughter of an overprotective family not a soul shifting assassin who found love but she's yearning for freedom and will do all that she can to gain it and she's not above flaunting or begging and making a deal with the least expected person (which is a direct parallel to the beginning of part1) but also she's excited and open when she's with jang uk because he's a huge novelty for her and he's obviously unlike anyone she's met and she doesn't know yet how dark the world has been to her and what she's done so of course she's not scowling at everything or talking about poison because she can't tell him she loves him upfront.

and yesss the sword better play a big part this time around. it's already very symbolic with jang uk carrying it with him at all times and using it to kill shape shifters when he was killed with it by his shape shifter lover. but now we know that she has access to her powers if only a little and that they're connected to her memories (and even if she doesn't have those back yet, it's clear her powers are tuned in to her connection with jang uk which is a good sign). I'm thinking she either gets to open the sword at his house or by picking it up without thinking during a fight (it would make for a very cool scene) to protect him. I did love the angst brought by her killing him with it in part 1 and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was loving the drama of it all but I think it'd be super cool if this time around she gets to fight alongside him or to protect him with this sword and truly take it back as hers, a symbol of all her history. she's a fascinating character and I'm so curious what her reaction to gaining her memories/powers back will be (and also wether it'll happen all at once or more gradually)

gerry it really is so dire do you think it will ever stop being so dire. i think for as long as gay people are real and grief & loneliness exist it will always be dire. which means forever

eek yeah.. i dont know... there are brief moments when it's not dire and that's what's important i suppose...

Do you reckon some people who are bi (and by (no pun intended) I mean those who are boomers), just go through life being like yeah I probably am but not really going to explore it or anything. Like maybe it's not biphobia or anything but more just like that's something that's been there but you have other trauma or other stuff that's probably more up front than sexuality so you just deal with it? Or accept it like okay whatever?

thank you for this question. 'cause yeah most definitely. I think that's kind of true for all queer people but I think bi people have the option of "appearing cishet", right? Like as a bi person you can technically choose to live with someone of the opposite gender, get married, have kids and people would not know any different. It's very common. So I'm sure that many people growing up in a homophobic world just decided to not explore that queer part of them and just fitted themselves into the "straight" box though maybe somewhere deep inside they knew they felt something. Or they simply fell in love very young and it just never came up. Like I'm reminded of people being surprised to learn that Hank Green is bi every couple of months. He's married, he has a wife and a kid. He mostly focuses on like science facts and weirdness. Like his bi-ness just very rarely comes up and even he mentions that it's not something he thinks about often. So I'm sure there are many people who have a very chill idea and just don't really need to bother with their identity, you know?

And actually I recently talked about this with a friend of mine and I think that you can still see this to this day with many bi men. I think there's more bi men than we think but most of them stay in closet/don't realise it because of the pressures of the cishet society. I also think many "gay men" might also be more bi than they admit but that it is so much easier for them to just identify as gay. Because the truth is biphobia is very real and damaging. Openly bi men get shunned from both hetero and gay communities. I know gay men who'd not get into a relationship with a bi man because they're afraid the bi man will run away back to a woman. And women who even though they claim to be "allies" but who'd never sleep with a bi man because they cannot handle their man's love of cock.

I do think that with more education and public awareness you see more and more people coming out as bi - not because previously there were none but because more and more people are realising that that is an OPTION. Like I didn't realise until I was like 23 'cause I didn't know it was an option. I also thought I'm completely unlovable for the first 23 years of my life so i thought it didn't even matter. And while I still think I'm unlovable I also think that it does matter. Because being bi to me it isn't just about finding a partner. It's about allowing yourself to be free. To explore. To feel whatever you need to feel. Free from judgement. Free from the bounds of the cisheterormativity.

2. Anything that you'd like to write but feel like you're unable to?

I feel like there's a thousand ways to answer this question, but the first thing that came to mind was a She's the Man AU. Every time we watch that movie I think about how much fun that would be to write - but there's no way to do that story now and not make someone trans. And I just don't think we're in a space to do that justice right now.

10. Top three favourite fic tropes.

Ooooooooooh, yes - love me an enemies/rivals to lovers story, some good ol' fashioned hurt/comfort, and Tabby would demand I mention "Person A goes scorched earth because Person B is being hurt." Nothing quite like being able to beat up one of your characters until the other one goes super sayain.

30. Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't.

There was a Gentleman Jack inspired Clexa au that we developed the outline for but never got around to writing. Lexa is an Ann-Lister-shaped scion of a noble house with chronic pain from an old injury; Clarke is a city doctor brought out to the Woods estate to replace the last doctor Lexa kicked to the curb. Lexa is an asshole but Clarke is determined, cue enemies-to-lovers speed run.

Exciting stuff is happening work-wise. I won't have as much time to write as before, but I finally feel like my "career" is going somewhere

10 What was the quickest work to write?

Relatively? I think it was Where the Sky Touches the Sea. The whole plot just popped into my mind, start to end, and I wrote it in like a week.

One-shot/Chapter-wise? That would be the first chapter of On the Ground All Can Hear You Scream. I wrote 6k+ words in 24h because my idiotic ass decided to join ClexaWeek2022 at the last minute and hadn't prepared anything. I wrote around 20k that week, and then I died 😅

15 What work are you taking into the new Year with you?

All my WIPs that are currently giving me the stink eye because I haven't updated them in weeks/months? 😅

On the Ground All Can Hear You Scream, mostly. Because it's going to be a looong fic with several parts and side works. I've already dragged it into 2023, and by the look of things, it's going to haunt me until 2028...

20 Which work of yours have you reread the most?

Tough one. I tend to re-edit my older works as my style improves, so I've reread and edited my first fics a few times. I finally finished retouching Our Revolution, and since it's my longest story to date, it feels like I've been on it forever (A new epilogue is coming very soon btw. After working on it for weeks, I was inspired)

But if we're talking about reading my fics leisurely while trying to ignore the perfectionist mini demon on my shoulder telling me to edit? Probably Not All Treasure’s Silver and Gold. It's a quick read, it's exciting, has a good plot twist, and you can't go wrong with Pirate Lexa.

I also love Stages of Grief (Bring The Light Back In Me). It's not as light, but Clarke and Lexa's relationship there is one of my favorites. Plus it inspired me to start writing more canon, hence On the Ground.

hi anon!! it does seem like we're going to get through a rough patch (or going back since technically we're going to see their pasts) before we can see them smile again (I don't think we're going to smile a lot next week) but I really believe that this is all so that the og curse can be broken (they had to meet again as new people to start over) and they can be free to live life together without any ancestral burden!! I do wonder what was the reason for her death in their first life because it seemed so tragic 😢 we also still have to worry about the garden owner (btw I wonder if he's somehow linked to their past life? because he's so obsessed with them and he clearly knows about curses) and he could still cause big damage and I'm always worried about hong-jo doing stuffs on her own and now that she's pushing sin-yu away she might be in more danger but I'm sure it'll all be resolved - we're going to suffer but then we'll be happy I'm sure lol (it does help that this drama is technically a romance with fantasy and the genre calls for a happy ending lol)
