Since we got some head cannons about Ireland and Wales. Can we get some hc's about England and Scotland?
Why of course! I got a few of headcanons for these two idiots. I’ll go in general, can’t think of a specific topic lol
Basically, they act like an old married couple but brother editions. They argue over the littlest of things and they always need to have the upper hand over the other. However, despite all the insults and vicious jabs, they care for each other... just in their own weird way. And when they need to work together, they're eerily effective and in synch. Can hold a whole conversation just by one look.
England:
As a hobby, England does flower arrangement and he’s quite good at it. He got lots of practice with his garden and will flaunt his skill whenever he hosts a dinner. He would even help in preparing the decoration for diplomatic meetings or other governmental events. His brothers often tease him he would make a great wedding planner (though little did they know he did lend a hand a few times to his human coworkers in the Parliament for their weddings)
Despite having great survival skills from having a rough childhood mostly spent in the woods/forests, England shamelessly love going ‘glamping’. The comfort of knowing you have shelter, warmth and food for a few nights lift a weight off his shoulders. There’s no need to be worried about dangers, though he knows he can deal with it if it comes to, but now, he’s just here to relax and enjoy (which is a rare thing for this workaholic idiot).
England claims to be a gentleman in public (and he is, most of the time), but he will go absolutely feral during the Nation 6 championship, as well as the rest of his brothers (and the others). They may be living in peace in modern times, but whenever rugby is involved, they’re one hair away from starting a war between them. The Parliament is well aware of this, so for the next few weeks, they keep England from having meetings with the winner nation as a precaution.
Scotland:
He’s the kind of guy who uses a 13 in 1 shampoo, but somehow, against all odds, he has the softest hair known to mankind. It’s hard to know at first because Scotland rarely let someone touch his hair, but when someone does, they’re mesmerized by it. France always laments of the waste potential of having such fine hair because Scotland puts no efforts in styling it.
When he has time outside his nation duties and part-time job as a paramedic, he works as a rock-climbing instructor. Mainly because he loves rock climbing in general, but also because he finds it hilarious to watch the newbies flail around in the air. It fills his schadenfreude heart, but he balances it out by giving well thought insights and making sure they’re always safe.
Because he loves going on day long hikes in the Highlands at least once a week, Scotland often gets sore feet. So, once a month, he gets a foot massage (and full on face mask treatment as a treat because why the hell not?) at the local salon. It was strange at first, seeing a six-foot-or-so tall man with broad shoulders and a resting bitch face asking for a foot massage. But the regulars (mostly old ladies) were all charmed by his dry humour and take no shit attitude. So Scotland knows all the local gossip and secrets of everyone in town (who cheated on who, the new promotion by bribe, the neighbour’s dog that was buried in someone else’s backyard, you name it). He may claim he doesn’t like gossip, but the group of old ladies eagerly spilling the tea on the latest scandal and him not stopping them at any moment says otherwise.

My sibling, who is an anime only said they would not be surprised if BKDK became canon considering the depth of their relationship, their interactions, and their character development regarding each other ... despite how Bones added in Izuocha scenes and cut out some critical BKDK moments in most of the seasons so far... And, seeing how one-sided the "love" is between Izuocha, which I believe is deep admiration as of reading the manga- I have to say I agree.
Izuocha, is fine on the surface but is unhealthy. Izuku would not pay attention to Ochaco they he would need to if they were in a relationship. And Ochaco only saw "Hero Deku" rather than all of "Izuku", which would cause her to unknowingly encourage Izuku's reckless self-sacrificial behavior.
BKDK is different because not only they know each other beyond the surface level, but they also have their sights on each other and the mere presence of their partner inspires them to become better and stronger people at heart because they have genuine love for each other...
I honestly do not understand what is in the Dudebros' mind other the fact that they are lacking emotional intelligence and critical thinking... but I will just enjoy what they are missing. (Sorry for rambling...)
Hi anon! Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you (reason in tags). Let me just reply to your ramblings with some ramblings of my own :)
I actually really enjoyed Season 6. The only thing I faulted Bones for, was creating that jarring opening that made out like Ochaco was the hero of the retrieve vigilante Deku mission (which sadly only fueled izuochas more on mhatwt), when it was 1000% Katsuki's doing and there is one panel which proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Tumblr media
See this? Who is the one standing in front of Shoto and Tokoyami, addressing the whole class? It's Katsuki! Not Ochaco! She was seated with everyone else. This is why it's so frustrating when they say she was the reason Izuku was brought back to U.A. That arc was all about Katsuki's feelings for Izuku and wanting to return his smile.
Tumblr media
He was even so worried he lost sleep over it, wondering where Izuku was, if he was okay… he must have stayed awake in bed, thinking and thinking about Izuku and how he could get him back. Katsuki was used to Izuku being by his side, and it was the first time Izuku had willingly left it. It provided him clarity about how important* Izuku was in his life, which only made him worry even more. (*see also: crucial, vital, imperative, watch me emotionally die slowly inside if you aren't around me anymore.)
Katsuki losing sleep, at a time Izuku was not sleeping was such a symbiotic soul mates power move Hori added in for flavour. I love it SOOO freaking much. There are no lengths this man won't go, to prove how in sync they are with each other, how much they need each other, the empathy they share with each other, even on a completely spiritual level where they share in each other's sufferings, *without even knowing it* such as right here, just like Katsuki wants to share all of Izuku's burdens so that he's not crushed by them.
But with that said, though Bones really dropped the ball on the opening (and 5 previous seasons...*ahem*), there were a lot of curious changes that happened in season 6 that I did love, like Izuku dropping the "tachi" in his sentence which turned his line into "He hurt the person I love…" (instead of people)
Tumblr media
and as we saw more of these additional changes Bones made, it got us wondering, did Hori have some regrets with the manga that he was unhappy about and wanted their romance to be more obvious? Was it only natural to get anime viewers up to speed before season 7, because they were going to find out through manga spoilers that Katsuki and Izuku are actually in love? I'd like to think so.
Changes I remember off the top of my head:
Reaching out for little Izuku's hand during Katsuki Bakugou Rising
Tumblr media
Katsuki waking up and thinking "Deku…" and remembering his Rising sacrifice and being still hurt from it.
Izuku waiting until he was in Katsuki's arms before he apologised, which made their words of "I'm sorry" and "I know" more intimate and personal to each other. Like Izuku needed Katsuki's forgiveness the most, and Katsuki needed to let Izuku feel that he understands him the most.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku's little "Ka-..." (the English dub did not catch it but I know other dubs did) as he was passing out, which made the entire hug scene feel so much more romantic.
Tumblr media
"I'm gonna say your name when I wake up" vs "I'm gonna say your name when I fall asleep." BkDk: Always on each other's minds. All the time.
And one of the most interesting changes of all…
So get this, Ochaco gets a hand hold grab in the opening which canon-wise holds about as much weight as an "illustration" … and in the actual anime content, she grabs his wrist area instead of his hand like in the manga. Making her hand hold IN THE CANON CONTENT so impersonal. Almost as if to make up for the horrible opening they made. Why this was done still remains a mystery to us today… but I hope it's because Horikoshi asked them to make Izuocha stop being seen like a couple, and more like the friends they are.
Tumblr media
And then, about the "brothers" "friends" comments antis love to make about bkdk. Well yeah, they're coping. In fact, Hori has shied away from labeling them friends several times when he could have! "Midoriya-kun is our friend" says Iida - with multiple people from the class, including Ochaco, presented in the panel… and Katsuki is nowhere to be found.
Tumblr media
Or like when sAFO called Katsuki "Izuku's closest person" (motto mo naka ga ii) where it would have been WAY more natural to call him "shinyu," aka, "best friend." But that's the thing, Hori runs away from calling them friends like it's the plague LMAO
Really makes you wonder… was sAFO (I'd rather just call it AFO at this point because it's his personality being dominant vs Katsuki) alluding to hidden romantic feelings Izuku hides for Katsuki that his secret gaydar quirk picked up? Could be. In a way, at the time it happened, it felt to me like Horikoshi himself was talking to us through him, telling us very explicitly, "You're damn right. They're gay."
Either way, skirting around this label for them is being done on purpose by Hori. Like his hidden way of saying "Yeah they might be acting a bit more like the best friends they were always meant to be as kids, but their feelings for each other are not 'friendly' AT ALL. Because platonic friendship is not where these two are headed." And there are STILL hidden feelings they haven't managed to say to each other yet! The content Horikoshi has been itching to draw for YEARS that he is finally getting to. All that soft bkdk romance we've been waiting for is coming SO SOON!!! and I am HERE for it anon! 🔥
2023 will forever be known as the year of BkDk canon... these are very exciting times. <3

Ok, so I decided to finally catch up with the His Dark Materials series and I'm near the end of s2 and some stuff is just kinda icky...or maybe that's just me.
It's been ages since I read the books and I don't remember how it was there but: were the books making as big a deal of the difference between children and adults in regard to "sin"? Like the show makes it out like in Lyra's world as soon as a child hits puberty the adults just go "you're a sinner now". Also how /do/ they actually differentiate between child and adult? Puberty's a whole process, takes years. Hell, your brain isn't out of puberty until you're like in your 20s.
Also all the misogyny in Lyra's world is just pissing me off but I hope that's intentional xD
(Edit: Oh but I do love Ruth Wilson, she's fab)

rosaria and barbara roleswap
in which rosaria is basically natasha and barbara is the one kidnapped by treasure hoarders when she was a child
Okay, I don't know who Natasha is (I assumed an NPC, but when I googled got nothing but Star Rail, and if that's who you meant I don't play that), but that would be a fascinating roleswap! Though Rosaria in particular seems like she would be so different, as so much of her personality was shaped by her bandit experiences, that I'm not sure I can really get a grasp on what she might be like without them. XD;; Presumably she grew up in her village here, and... who knows where she might have gone from there, without knowing more about her family and parents. Though I suppose there's the possibility that the roleswap is that they were all killed as in canon but she was rescued instead of kidnapped, which would mean she grew up in the Church but with that trauma of watching them die, which... okay, I can see where Rosaria might go from there, and I feel like she'd be a less hardened person in the way she treats others, but probably have this core, given her strength of conviction in canon, of wanting to grow up to make sure that never happens to another child. Which is to say, Knight!Rosaria, probably.
Barbara does seem more emotionally fragile overall than Rosaria, and while some of that was probably her family situation, we know from her character stories that she struggled more even as a child, so honestly, being kidnapped by bandits would probably make her even more timid. TBH I have an easier time imagining her dying in the rough-survival situation Rosaria's lore implies, especially if she struggled with the 'training' Rosaria went through the way she struggled with her mother's, but we're assuming she survives here, so. Maybe the false-father bandit Rosaria killed in canon develops a soft spot for Barbara, too, and protects her, and she eventually ends up the group's mascot. Possibly she starts learning rough wilderness healing skills, which would help--the person who can keep you alive if a fight went bad is worth feeding and protecting--but I still can't imagine her ever becoming the kind of killer Rosaria is. Just much more calculating, aware of the skills she lacks without being ashamed of them as in canon, but rather equally aware of the skills she possesses and determined not to devalue them in any trade for those skills she doesn't have.
...and then Sir Rosaria is with Varka's party when they clear out the bandit camp, desperate for revenge because these were the bandits who killed her family. But she's injured in the fight, and Barbara, cornered by Rosaria as the surviving bandits are being chased down and slaughtered, offers those exact skills to help her in exchange for her own life. Yeah, okay, I'm into that. XD

So, I just??? Randomly just the motivation for this??? So enjoy more Tealstar stuff ig lol. Tried to do a lot here, not sure how well it worked for me. You can tell I got a little rundown at Tongbi's part, but I was still really determined to finish this, so. Here ya go.
   Chikao loved the storm.
The smell of fresh rain and the swirl of dark clouds overhead lit up by flashes of lightning that split the sky in two and sent deep, booming thunder rippling over the land was something she could never get tired of.  Every lightning strike lit up her eyes, she could feel the vibration of thunder running deep within her bones, and the entire world was pulled just a little to the side by the chilling winds that whipped past.
She was fond of the world after a storm, too.  The way the smell of rain lingered for a week afterwards, clouds drifted past so you could see sheets of rain coming down in the distance as they left, the sudden abundance of greens and the pinks and blues and yellows of plants as they sprouted up, the splashing of puddles gathered in random dips in the ground and squishing of deep brown mud as water sunk into the soil.  She loved that.  Loved everything about it.
And the best part was that she could do it.  On a whim, whenever she wanted, she could summon the clouds and lightning and feel the very storm surging through her bones.  She could feel the world come alive in a way so, so different than it did in the shine of the sun.
But, unfortunately, not everyone was so welcoming.
And why weren’t they?  What was even the point of limiting her ability to create storms?  Why did she have to “register” a storm or whatever to create one?  It wasn’t like she was creating out-of-control tornados or setting forests on fire with lightning.  Most of the time, it was just a little rain to give the village crops a boost!
But the Celestial Realm hadn’t seen it that way.  The first time Nezha had come down to meet her, he had called it “undermining the Jade Emperor’s authority” and “breaking the laws of the Celestial Realm” and “a matter to be taken seriously”.  But honestly?  How could she take someone that had come down to lecture her about why she couldn’t summon rain without paperwork seriously.
And that was all it had been, for a while.  Something funny, eventually just a friend coming down to spar.  Barely an annoyance.  Not even a concern.
And then Princess Iron Fan had joined him.  And they’d struggled over the winds of the storm, trying to turn them on each other to gain an advantage.  And then…
   Flash
And then people had gotten hurt.
And the Celestial Realm was angry.
Stealing the Peaches of Immortality from their orchard?  That was probably just the cherry on top.
But even when they’d come to arrest Chikao for her “crimes” (come on, they were peaches), they’d made a mistake to dare go after Tongbi.
Chikao sighed quietly as she stared up at the endless night sky, the stars twinkling back at her like tiny diamonds against a sheet of inky paint.  It felt so close when the storm was swirling around it, the wind catching every little loose thing on the ground and throwing around every small hair out of place, but when the night was clear like this and she was laying on the ground beside Tongbi…it felt so, so far away.  She itched for it to be close again, to touch the clouds and feel their water in her hands.
She wondered if, in a world where Nezha had time, where Nezha could step away from his celestial duties and just relax for a moment, they could fly around through the clouds and throw water at each other.
She didn’t live in that world.  She didn’t know.
“Chikao?” Tongbi’s soft voice pulled Chikao out of her thoughts.
“Yeah?” Chikao rolled onto her side to look at Tongbi, flattening the grass beneath her.
Tongbi’s eyes stayed on the sky as he spoke and his hands picked through the fur on his tail.  His voice was muffled by his dark green scarf as he buried his face into the fabric.  “You won’t let them t-t-take you from me, will you?”
A small spark of anger flashed in her chest.  She’d said they’d be together forever, and she’d meant it.  No Celestial Realm would change that.  “Of course not.  And I won’t let anyone hurt you, either.”
Tongbi didn’t respond and Chikao rolled back onto her back with a soft sigh.  She didn’t want Tongbi to worry.  He shouldn’t have had to worry.  She dealt with Nezha and Iron Fan on her own fine, didn’t she?  And then even when more celestials had shown up, she’d dealt with it.  But Tongbi was still worried, and Chikao knew well by then that the only thing that was going to soothe his concern was time.
Time, or get rid of the Celestial Realm’s meddling completely, but she knew that wasn’t going to happen.
At least, that’s what she thought, as the days went by and Tongbi slowly felt safe being outside of his library again.  As toddlers and children became teens and adults.  As people aged and grayed and passed.
Until the Brotherhood reached out with a dream.  A dream of glory and ambition.  A dream of change and prosperity.  A dream of safety and comfort.  A dream of freedom.  A dream of storms.
A dream of a day storms could freely brew in the days, and the skies would be theirs at night.
A dream where the Celestial Realm wouldn’t meddle, Nezha could freely come and go, and Tongbi’s concerns would vanish.
   And Chikao took it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tongbi hated surprises.
The unexpected whirlwind of emotions he wasn’t ready for, having to think on his feet and his mind going blank, only moments to make a decision and if it was the wrong one he was doomed.  The mounting pressure of what felt like a mountain behind his head and the crushing weight of do or die that he just couldn’t pull himself out of.
And the aftermath was worse.  Because then there were a hundred different feelings all weighing him down like boulders, telling him there was some way to alleviate their weight but not giving him a single how-to.  Sometimes the boulders were hot and sometimes electric and sometimes just heavy, and those meant different things, but he didn’t know what they meant.  But apparently, knowing what they meant and how to sort them out was the very key to getting them under control sometimes, because otherwise every time he thought about the surprise he would trigger another rockslide.
Physically, Tongbi didn’t mind rocks, boulders, or even mountains.  Feet on the ground, dig his heels in, take a deep breath and move.  He could move boulders, sort out rockslides, split entire mountainsides in two that way.  The boulders he could touch the rough or smooth surfaces of were lighter than the ones that crushed his heart and held him down in the corner with tears spilling onto blurry pages, but never had a texture.
   Fortunately, people were welcoming.
It had been a strange change after the curious chirps of the monkeys that found him hiding away in caves on Flower Fruit Mountain, but a warm one.  Chikao helped lift the boulders off his chest, explain some of the feelings and help him separate them apart so he could think without folding into a mess of matted fur and heavy emotions.
The warm nights of staring up at the stars and pointing out constellations as Chikao worked through his fur were the best nights he’d ever known.  Spending days reading books about the sun aloud and telling Chikao about asteroids that flew by brought him a warmth he could never quite explain.  Even the flower pin he had, with teal and red petals, served as a small comfort when he was alone, to remind him that someone cared.
Though he had been nervous at first, the village was nice too.  Adults were happy to trust him to read about the phenomenon of eclipses to children and watch meteor showers with them, and the kids were always fascinated by his words and eager to ask questions and learn more.  Even on days where he didn’t have books, several of them were ready to ask questions and listen to him ramble.
And even as they grew and had more chores and work to tend to, nobody minded when he sat on a bench and read the afternoon away.
Tongbi hummed a tune as his eyes scanned across neat words, written with meticulous precision.  Dust kicked up into the air as the click clack of horseshoes went by, but Tongbi was fully absorbed, the rest of the world blurred as he imagined how it would feel to step on the moon.  Would he feel lighter?  Would it feel like stone on earth, or dust, or powder, or something else entirely?  Would the stars look different?  What kind of new star charts could he make from there?
“I’m bored!” The high-pitched whine of a kid caught his ear.  He almost called out to invite them to read, but…no, they probably didn’t want to hear him.  All of the kids he used to read to were teenagers or adults now, and had too much responsibility to bother listening to him anymore, and the new ones probably didn’t have any interest in him.
“Hey, this guy’ll read to you about some pretty cool stuff, if you wanna.” Tongbi glanced up from his book to see a teenager with long black hair running down past her shoulders and freckles mixing with the dust and dirt on her face.  He felt a small flower of warmth bloom in his chest.  He knew this kid.  Did she still remember him?
“Ooo, like what?” One of the children asked as their arms swung back and forth.
“Well, you know the little white things that are up in the sky every night?” She smiled.
   “Uh-huuuuh.” The kid nodded.
“Well, he taught me that those are called stars, and they’re actually very, very distant suns.” She said as she walked over to the bench Tongbi was sitting on.
“Woah!” Three kids followed her, their eyes shining brighter than the sun.
“But suns don’t look like that.” Another kid frowned.
“That’s the fun part.” She sat down in front of Tongbi and skimmed the title of his current book.  “He’ll explain the whole thing.”
The kids promptly sat down in front of him, staring up with eager curiosity that filled Tongbi with warmth.  He started explaining, slowly at first, then faster when they only seemed more intrigued.  More children, kids playing in the village and teenagers he used to read to just finished with chores, came around him and sat down, enjoying his reading and explanations.
He hoped this never changed.  And, luckily for him, it didn’t seem that was going to happen.
At least, that’s what he thought, as Tongbi’s reading slowly expanded to the entire village.  As toddlers and children became teens and adults.  As people aged and grayed and passed.
Until the Brotherhood reached out with a risk.  A risk of danger and hostility.  A risk of battle and bloodshed.  A risk of pain and uncertainty.  A risk of imprisonment.  A risk of change.
A risk of ferocious and bloody battles by day, and wounded and torn foundations by night.
A risk of the Celestial Realm coming down with all their fury, Nezha would be injured, and Chikao being imprisoned.
   And Tongbi denied it.
Tongbi denied the dream.  Chikao took the risk.

I have realized that if I’m going to be posting about Battlestar Galactica characters on here I ought to introduce them for the people who have no clue what I’m on about. So here’s a post of the main characters in the 1978 Battlestar Galactica TV show and a summary of the plot:
So the plot is this: the Cylons, a race of sentient machines, with the help of a human traitor, attack the 12 colonies of humans during an alleged “peace ceremony” where the two races were supposed to unite. They manage to destroy all but one of the human Battlestars and bomb all the human cities on the colony worlds (the colonies are all named after the astrology signs btw, most of the main characters are Capricans, because the Galactica was assigned to protect Caprica). The survivors of this devastating attack then gather every space-worthy ship they can find and fall under the protection of the last Battlestar, Galactica. Where is the Galactica going, you ask? Why to the 13th colony, to Earth, of course! Earth, in their culture, is a legendary planet, the “lost tribe”. The Galacticans are headed for it, hoping to find a home and peace from the cylons.
Now, on to the characters!
Tumblr media
First off we have Captain Apollo. He is a fighter pilot and the leader of Blue Squadron- one of the squadrons of colonial viper ships that defend the Galactica from attacks. He’s the son of Commander Adama and the adoptive father of Boxy. He’s usually pretty levelheaded, but not immune to occasional moments of foolishness (like flying into a void he didn’t know he could get out of). He’s thoughtful and empathetic and cares about other people very quickly.
Tumblr media
And then there’s lieutenant Starbuck. Apollo’s best friend and fellow pilot in Blue Squadron. Starbuck is the same kind of character as Han Solo from Star Wars: he acts like a heartthrob and pretends he doesn’t care and treats things flippantly until it really counts. The man’s got a heart of gold and is very dedicated to his friends even at the risk of his own life. He’s also a ridiculous goofball who tries to make light of everything.
Tumblr media
Commander Adama. He is the commander of the Galactica and leader of the fleet. He is also on the Council of Twelve, made up of elders from the 12 colonies (or in this case, the rag-tag fleet following the Galactica) who are responsible for making decisions for the betterment of what’s left of their people. He is the father of Apollo and Athena. He can be very stern and commanding, but also kind when the situation calls for it. He has EXTREMELY good intuition about when the cylons will attack, and is the reason that the Galactica was the only Battlestar to survive the initial attacks.
Tumblr media
Athena is Adama’s daughter and Apollo’s sister. She can be found serving on the bridge of the Galactica or as a pilot. She can be very shrewd and clever and is not to be underestimated. She is initially a love interest for Starbuck, which I had actually forgotten. xD When all but two of the fleet’s fighter pilots fall ill, she and other newly-trained shuttle pilots learn to fly the colonial vipers to protect the fleet, so she’s very capable.
Tumblr media
Colonel Tigh is second-in-command of the Galactica. He comes across as very serious and an enforcer of protocol, but he also occasionally helps people get away with shenanigans of some kind. Basically, the man is surprisingly on board with most crazy schemes despite how on the surface he seems to be a rule follower. Adama trusts him implicitly and it’s implied they’ve worked together and been friends a long time.
Tumblr media
Boomer is another pilot in Blue Squadron and a friend of Starbuck and Apollo. He’s a very capable fighter, and often ends up on special missions. He’s fully capable with keeping up with Apollo and Starbuck’s shenanigans, but he’ll probably complain about them.
Tumblr media
Cassiopeia is one of the civilians from Galactica’s fleet. She is sassy and clever  and ends up working as a nurse on board Galactica. She’s another love interest for Starbuck too. xD She can be a little bit scary sometimes when she’s angry but she can also be very soft-spoken and kind.
Tumblr media
And the baby boy, Boxy! Boxy is Apollo’s adopted son- Apollo married his mother a few months after the Galactica set off for Earth... and then his mom got shot by a cylon a day later. So Apollo’s his single dad now, though the pilots of Blue Squadron, Cassiopeia, and Adama are all also kind of helping raise him. xD Boxy’s a sweet kid, he’s smart and sensitive; he got very depressed when the cylons destroyed his home and his dog Muffet was killed. So to help, Apollo got some of the engineers/scientists on Galactica to make a robot dog for Boxy- Muffet 2. Muffet follows Boxy almost everywhere and the two are very attached.
Tumblr media
Aaaand this is Baltar. He betrayed the humans to the cylons and is, for most of the series, working for the cylons to try and capture the Galactica. He’s crafty, and manipulative, but very arrogant and proud, and you know what they say about pride coming before a fall...
Tumblr media
Of course this post would not be complete without the ship herself. The Galactica is a massive Battlestar ship, designed to protect the planets of the 12 Colonies against attacks from cylons. Originally, there were at least five of these ships, but after the cylons offered a fake peace treaty the rest of the Battlestars were unprepared for an attack. Adama was the only one who kept his guard up and thus the Galactica survived the vicious attack.
Tumblr media
This is the best picture I can find of the Galactica’s rag-tag fugitive fleet, but there’s a lot more ships than this. Forced to flee their homeworlds, these beat up old ships hold the only survivors of the 12 colonies. Without the Galactica’s protection, they would stand no chance against the cylons.

The cylons themselves are a race of machines that outlived their original, organic, creators. They can live on far longer than humans by virtue of being able to replace failing parts of their bodies. Their goal is the eradication of the entire human race.
Alright, so there you have it! An introduction to Battlestar Galactica (1978)!

each time I make a post about a fic of mine, I wished I had a gif to add
like it was a known media and you could just find it in the gifs
nothing to do with it being famous (very much not my goal XD)
just
I like gifs
I like lil' moving characters
#delete later#one day I'll have to make one I guess#it's not like it would appear on its own#girl it's your blorbos from your mind obviously you have to do it yourself XD#also I have such a facination for animatics#those blorbos are moving! they're alive!!!#I can't believe I was a bit weirded out by the word ''blorbo'' at first and now I'm just using it in my head too#if you don't like reading my random thoughts you can block ''delete later'' I usually use that hashtag#I always have that hope I'm gonna come back to delete it later...#why am I writing like I do when I'm starting to get sleep deprieved drunk it's not even 11pm yet#I still have my grammar tho#mmmmmmmm#it's now been more than a week that I'm sick I reaaaally hope I will soon stop trying to cough out my pulmons#*she said right before starting to cough for the n times today*#do you know the limit for tags is 30?#I am midway#it's generaly not a problem#unless I'm reblogging miss yuyu's art#she has thoughts and I wanna answer with my own#because they're shaped#one of these sentences I have no idea how I'd explain the meaning to one of my IRL friends#and there is a limit for how long a tag can be too! you can't write a whole story in one single tag and that's very sad don't you think? Ho#140 characters#when I said that ''they're shaped'' I was talking Yuri's thoughts not mine#I like my friend#and it makes me so happy to see her having fun with her askers#should I really be gushing about her like that here in a random post's tags? Maybe not#I don't think she'd see that anyway so I'm all good#how many tags have I left?#oh that's the last one better make it count right? If you read this I'm sending you (yes you!)

I want the director's commentary on the How to kill a god series!
question post
the fics in question
Hm... Let's see...
I mean, accurate director's commentary for Deicide is probably just me sitting there going "fuck that guy" as I bang on the keyboard. XD I was genuinely angry when I finished Royal. Which is a good thing, because it means the story did a good job! But Goro shared my less-than-charitable opinions of Maruki, and I wanted to give his arc a more solid conclusion, so he was the perfect viewpoint character for venting.
In the second half, when we get a little more of Akira's viewpoint, I also wanted to emphasize that he's sort of a midpoint between Goro and Maruki's natures. He could have become like either of them in different circumstances, and it's interesting to see how those traits balance each other out.
Overall for the rest I wanted to explore how different mechanics could be used to expand the story past the ending, even if they weren't a major gameplay thing. The Thieves Den is basically a gallery mechanic, but the possibilities of a non-distorted cognitive space were fascinating. Jose is basically a very weird shop mechanic, but his bonus boss shows that he's powerful, and giving him a more active role was fun. Same with Lavenza.
(Plus, y'know, just the mental image of these children fighting alongside Black Mask. The run through the Palace was literally just "wouldn't it be cool if--?" ;D )
The finale is based entirely on two concepts from the game's original ending: the fact that one of Akira's social links was literally the original final boss, and the fact that the belief of the city empowered the Thieves and weakened Yaldabaoth. There's something to be said about how you can form a bond, all the way to max rank, with the entity who ends up being behind everything. A bond with Yaldabaoth is also a tie to Mementos, and the belief of the masses is the transfer of power. I reused that concept when I got to the end of Royal Hours, as you know. ^_^
I think the last thing I can say is that I specifically wrote it without an explicitly romantic relationship? Like, I implied that they'd get together eventually. They're obviously incredibly close, and important to each other, but within the series it was meant to be more about their bond in general and their trust in each other, so if you want to read it without shipping in mind, I think it still works. And I'm proud of that.
