@buggachat’s new fic, Drowning in Plain Sight, has consumed my thoughts.
It is so good that it destroyed my art block. I mean, I even drew a background, which is crazy.

I REMEMBER what i was going to say. vanitas (character) is also vanitas (concept) and an allegory for a cycle of systematic suffering and abuse that exists haplessly and without purpose. noé right from the start is in denial over the existence of such useless suffering (thinking he can save mina) and continues to deny this by writing the case study of vanitas, his futile attempt to scrape off some meaning from such a bleak allegory. while he can understand that killing vanitas is a form of salvation for him i don’t think that can come to terms with the fact that vanitas did suffer at all. so to write the case study of vanitas, trying to go over the events of their lives together, and trying to piece together vanitas the person he ends up disrespecting his existence altogether, simply by over scrutinizing it. vanitas did not want to be remembered. by saying he wanted to erase the existence of the votbm, he is saying he wants to erase his suffering from this world. what noé does with the case study is essentially immortalize it, because he is selfish, naive, and wants to understand something inscrutable. rather than taking comfort in the fact that vanitas can continue to exist in his memories, like how he will tell him as he dies (i won’t die noé even if i’m no longer here) noé bastardizes these memories and turns them into something almost masturbatory

I think I’ve just figured out why gay love stories* in classic literature are the best love stories.
It’s because of the cliché but true piece of writing advice: show, don’t tell.
The writers in these times couldn’t just say “X is gay/bi/pan/whatever”, “X is in love with Y”, “these characters are in love and/or sleeping together”. They couldn’t write the characters saying “I’m in love with you” or “I’m attracted to you”. If they wanted to get that across, they HAD to show it in the characters’ actions, and those actions had to go above and beyond what people would expect from a friendship. It comes across in the devotion a character shows for another, or that characters show for each other. The intense love that makes it clear even when it can’t be said.
Obviously, it’s wrong that they weren’t allowed to say it, and now that we can, we should, and we should be happy that we can, but I still think we can take inspiration from those who couldn’t.
If you’re writing a gay love story, or any love story, here’s a writing exercise. Try writing it as if for some reason you can’t say they’re in love. (Obviously don’t do this as the final product, just as an exercise.) Does the love still come across? Do the actions make it clear? If so, I want to read your story! If not, that’s something to work on.
*When I say love stories, this includes mutual, one-sided, stories where this point is ambiguous because we only see what one person thinks of/does for the other and not vice versa, and where it starts one-sided but then the other person falls for them. Just anything with non-platonic love.

Dear HumanTpom, What Wii game would the brothers play and go crazy competitive abt?
Wow 😮 great question. Hmm well Super Mario Sluggers is insane, I think they would go nuts when the other would make the super powered-pitch and stuff. Skipper would be running the teams like the military but not know how to place the characters correctly anyway 😂 But a classic would be Mario Party. Rico (or I can see Private) would use a tornado candy on the rest in a row and chaos would ensue

When did you get into rvb and how?
I got into it around 2013 so I think when freelancer had just finished (according to my old amino account I had to check lol). I was in middle/elementary at the time so I had already known abt rooster teeth though stuff like achievement hunter but got super into them when the first season of rwby dropped.
I think I first just watched freelancer for Monty Oum’s animation (cuz I was too impatient for new rwby eps to come out lol) but didn’t end up watching the whole series until my rwby rp friends on virtual space amino invited me to a RvB rp so I finally just watched it from the beginning to learn the lore and ended up loving the show.
