Me: yeah I just don't want a repeat of last year when I was asked to sew one dress and ended up sewing six.
My therapist: Boundary setting. It's ok to say no to things.
Me: yeah I know. But I think this is just going to be some alterations. The show opens really soon. So it should just be alterations.
*A couple hours later*
Person: How do you feel about sewing full garments? They'd be pre-cut.
Me: It depends on the garment.
Person: Just a few skirts in the period style.
Me: Ok I think I can do it.
*A few more hours later*
Me: *Lying in bed trying to sleep*
Me: ...wait a second... GOD I AM STUPID
#*cue I Cain't Say No from Oklahoma*#I truly did a speed run on completely ignoring my therapist's advice#alterations turns into sewing a few skirts from near scratch#I'm gonna do it. it's a time period I want more experience in#last time my 6 dresses meant I basically designed half the show#due to that designer putting so much on me#having the pieces pre-cut will make things infinitely easier than last time#even if the pieces themselves are more complicated than last time#but just. the irony. and my horoscope for today saying something like#'you may be entering a role with responsibility you don't feel experienced enough for'#and advising me to share those feelings to get help should I need it#and I plan to take that advice. it's just. so funny#why am I a broken record
