the earliest examples of the RCD pattern I've seen are early 1900s, though apparently they started making it in 1887. seems unlikely that the adult siblings could afford a new, large china set

but. look at what Davenport was doing as early as 1870:

It's the same. Pattern.

I know this pattern. I have spent a truly deranged amount of time staring at this pattern. I have a whole-ass tea set in this pattern approx. three yards from me in a glass-fronted cabinet at this very moment. and this is the exact same pattern, but being made (it seems to me) at least 17 years before RCD started doing it. oh, and Davenport closed its doors in 1887- the same year the RCD Imari 2451 apparently hit the market

the movie props are RCD, to be sure. I know this because I have one- a cup and saucer set from Cynthia Finlay's Antiques in Toronto, who rented the china out to the CPeak production team. but I believe that, in-story, it's actually the Davenport

just learned that the entire Creatures series is on steam and it feels like there's an alien about to explode out of my chest

if you don't know what these are, they were one of the first life simulators ever. You hatch and raise these various little ai beasts called Norns in their funky spaceship and teach them everything they know and keep them safe, and they have emotions and personalities and families and can breed and have mutations and get sick, and there's medicine and chemicals and so much more brainy nonsense if you care to get into it, and it all goes SO IN-DEPTH... IT'S INSANE THAT THIS SERIES WAS FIRST RELEASED IN 1998!!!

and as far as i know there's still a semi-active modding community! LIKE THEY JUST RELEASED A NEW DLC SPECIFICALLY FOR MODDERS LESS THAN A DAY AGO ARE YOU KIDDING. HUH?? i didn't even know that until 2 minutes ago sorry that is my live reaction. what. 20+ year old game just got a new dlc 12 hours ago coincidentally just when i rediscover the series. okay. im being so normal right now👍

Sometimes I wake up very early and see that it is so so foggy out and by the time I'm half awake I find myself out on a walk a mile away. i am most at home in the wild and fog.......... admittedly not the smartest thing to do considering how rural everything is, sheer cliff sides + predatory wildlife + whatever.

But I have been rewarded for this risky behavior today with a wet wet 50 dollar bill I found on the ground. a soggy toast to you all this morning !!!

#very unusual to find stuff like this out here #it's one thing to find a dollar bill at like a gas station or a bus stop or something but this was like.#just on an unmanaged road with no sidewalks all black berries crawling onto the road like.#i honestly felt like i had to look over my shoulder for half a mile because what if it was set there as a trap.#what if there was a string attached and i was gonna be reeled into a murder killer.#but whatever im home now. good morning to all.

Books of 2023: CONVERSATIONS ON WRITING by Ursula K. Le Guin with David Naimon.

Currently dual wielding books, over here--I've never really been big on reading two different fiction books at once, but I can pair fiction with nonfiction just fine.

I haven't read as much nonfiction as I'd hoped to this year (overcorrecting from last year, apparently), so I'm excited to get back into some Writers Writing about Writing stuff while I cool off of my current project before I gear up for NaNo. This one starts with "In Memoriam," though, so I suspect it'll probably break my heart a little bit. This is Fine™.
