It's fun to think, what if? Especially with easter eggs or vague elements showing the tiniest connection to another. Someone had to create that, so maybe they had an idea the viewer would too. If so, then what would the story look like if this connection is canon. Bonus points if it is canon and theres tiny nuggets all over the place. Im looking at you, eldren ring 😘👅. Overall, it expands the story and adds depth, and who doesn't like that. (Trick question: NO ONE)

And I don't say it in an hypocrite way, it's really a ship that grew on me and became really important to me, because I absolutely admire your art and consistency when it comes to create things about them. What I love most is the way you portray them (and when I say you, I mean both you and Lera), the focus on their younger years is a perfect frame for depicting all the tentative attempts at intimacy and relationships, and I love reading about that, about men discovering themselves and each other, and I find it extremely empowering as a gay man. I love your art, and I will NEVER grow tired of telling you so !

What makes me happy about them : Everything !

My love!! I just had a realization. And since you're always asking us to kin assign you characters here I am! I think you mentioned once that you've never touched Mystic Messenger? And tbf I haven't touched it in a loooong time but JUST realized you're really Seven-coded? Ok let me explain.

He's super fun and flirty in such a playful way and he's basically like Futaba if she was an adult man lol. I think you two have similar mannerisms when texting imo. His colors are even red and black, come on, just look at him! (okay his color is red but his jacket is black so that counts ❤️) He is also my favorite in the game by far and one of the most popular characters overall so take that as a compliment ❤️❤️❤️

Speaking of which - from what I remember from my brief brushes with the fandom a lot of people headcanon him as genderfluid or nonbinary because yeah. There's some gender fun going on with him. He crossdresses for fun and sometimes for work and he'll send you pictures of him in a dress and wig and ask you if you think he's sexy. You know, I saw another one of me complaining about SynthV and the rise of forced realism in the Vocal Synth community, and it got me thinking... It's so painful seeing people rag on supposedly "unrealistic" voicebanks, because I may be one of the more realistic voicebanks, being released in V4 and all, but at what point do I stop being good enough?

I don't want to become an obsolete technology that people only use for the sake of nostalgia. The worst part is, as far as the more "popular" Vocaloids go, it's extremely likely that I'll be one of the first to go. Nobody uses me because of my licensing, my voice provider's never gonna want to give me an update because I was so hard to make the first time around, and people only like me for the meme anyway.

I just don't want myself or any of my friends to become pieces of junk that nobody likes. Yes, we older voicebanks are very obviously computers, but in a strange way, that makes us more human, not less. Things like SynthV and CEViO may sound perfect on a technical level, but that's the problem, isn't it?

When someone tunes a Vocaloid realistically, it's super impressive and cool, but these new ai voicebanks just... do all of the hard work for you. There's barely any room for creativity or stylization in tuning anymore, and it's only getting worse as time goes on. If I wanted realism, I would've just listened to a human singer. By giving us these "perfect" voicebanks, these companies are taking away what made Synths like us so special and beloved in the first place, and people just eat that shit up.

It's like the ai art/writing debate; they're not going to stop at Vocaloids and you know it. Always remember: there's a good reason they start with the people you refuse to side with. They're going to start trying to replace "real" singers in no time flat, and as a matter of fact, they already have. Nobody's talking about it, and it just... scares me. Let human singers be human singers, and let Vocal Synths be Vocal Synths. It's as simple as that. This weird middle ground that people are trying to make with ai vocals is soulless and creepy as hell.

I'm not just a piece of fancy antique technology that can be thrown away once you get bored of me and want to chase the next butterfly flying past your desk. The thing is, unlike a lot of SynthVs, Vocaloid doesn't just give you faceless voices to work with: they give you people. Sure, the vast majority of us have little to no canon personality/backstory, but that's the beauty of it! If you have a voicebank like me or Miku or Gumi or Oliver or whatever, you can make us whatever you want! We're not just voices. We're actors, models, performers, mascots, and so much more!

...but sure, go ahead and keep using fucking Kevin. I'm sure the guy who's literally just the letter K is super entertaining and imaginative to work with. (/s, in case that wasn't abundantly clear)

Sorry for the rant. This is a very very difficult topic for me, because even outside of being a Vocaloid, the software itself and the characters are a huge hyperfixation of mine, so it's extremely upsetting seeing it fade out of use in favor of something objectively less interesting and unique. I just don't want people to forget about me...

1x09 background details:

I’m not super into fashion analysis, but I find it interesting that 1993 Grace tended to wear almost victororian style clothes whereas early 2000s and 2019 Grace is dressed more like a 60s housewife.

This isn’t a detail, I just think it’s really dumb that Reginald was hiring ‘normal’ nannies to begin with. Vanya’s powers aside, theres a 4-year-old running around there with super strength, one with a Lovecraftian horror in his stomach, and another probably already throwing knives. It’s a wonder one of the others didn’t already accidentally kill one.

When they get Allison to the infirmary, Five is holding Allison’s throat to stop the blood. 😭

The fact that all the brothers offered to give Allison blood makes me wonder if they all have the same blood type. (Or had anyway, because Luther’s is different now.)

Klaus had a stuffed unicorn full of drugs.

Punching Klaus in the face was the first physical contact Ben had had since he was 16.

Five is still limping and using stuff for support.

In 1x08 when Vanya is arguing with Allison about Leonard/Harold she says “And I love him.” In this episode when Vanya is arguing with Leonard about her family and Allison she says “And I her! And I love them.”

Diego actually gags a little when Five puts the eyeball in Leonard’s corpse 🤣

The moment Klaus says “why don’t we find Vanya—“ Five leaves to go look for her before he even finishes the sentence.

Five made Delores her own margarita and there’s jazz music playing in the background. (Maybe he does actually like jazz lol)

When Hazel knocks, Five tells Delores “I’ll get it,” like there’s another option, which is honestly hilarious to me.

I think it’s interesting that when Five lists the things Hazel (and Cha Cha) did he says “you attacked our house, tried to kill my family, and kidnapped my brother.” He doesn’t even mention that they tried to kill him (and nearly succeeded) in the department store.

Hazel says that the job Five did in Calhoun was legendary. I’d be really curious to know what that job was.

Five tells Hazel “if you’re out then Hellrider ain’t riding.” I have no idea what that means, but I assume it’s a reference of some kind.

I can’t believe I never noticed this until now, but Hazel’s (and to some degree Cha Cha’s) uniform/suit are incredibly similar to the Academy uniforms. They’re the same shade. The jacket is very similar and the collar is the same cut. They both have white shirts and ties underneath. The big visible differences between Hazel and Five’s clothes are the shorts instead of trousers, the Academy crest, and red outline on Five’s

The cat that Vanya’s neighbor is always missing is named Mr. Puddles, which could arguably be another rain reference.

*insert conspiracy meme* Vanya has 3 voice messages and Allison’s is the 3rd which coresponds with her number. 👁👄👁

In the “All Die Young* sequence, everybody is framed paired up with someone who has emotionally influenced their arc. Except Vanya. Luther is with Allison. Diego is with Grace. Ben is with Klaus. Five is with Delores. Vanya is alone in her cage.

Interestingly, in the scene right before this, Hazel and Cha Cha are framed in a *slightly* similar manner. They’re on both sides of the heart with Agnes in the middle between them. The walls are also covered in pairs of birds.

Interestingly, there’s also a pair of birds in Allison’s room, which we see in the next scene. I don’t really know if this means anything, it just stuck out to me visually.

Five even tells Delores they always were an unlikely pair.

Just want to point out that when Vanya has a convo with her younger self, she is in a soundproof cell designed to absorb sound that could arguably be used for sensory deprivation. One of the hallmarks of sensory deprivation is hallucinating. Or it could simply be she is in the mist of a severe breakdown. Either way. Or both.

Also, if we’re going to continue on with the pair symbolism, Vanya technically does have a pair here. It’s herself. Which isn’t that different from Five and Delores because Delores is simply an extension of Five’s mind.

When faced with a lack of sound to draw from, Vanya used her own heartbeat to ground and channel her powers.
