Notes:
- Hunter being able to flowers from his palistrom hair is definitely not a new idea, not quite sure where it originated from though.
- Lizards eat their shed skin because it still has a lot of nutrients! So basically, Vee’s shed is filled with magic, hence why it just poofs away, and Vee sucks the rest up.
- Also cus of this Vee goes through an emo phase every now and again, cus I said so.
- Hunter’s look is all Darius.

(Also Eda smokes canonically now)
I drew that quickly without looking at the original as reference so here's a fixed version

I've been lacking motivation to draw for some time now but I managed to make some doodles these past few days during classes that I'm rather proud of so I figured I'd post them : }

I think Raine deserves a cool coat, as a treat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If it's not clear those squiggly lines are scars from the draining spell and Raine is cluthing their arm because it's in pain
Tumblr media
Not particularly proud of this one but it's something lol
Tumblr media
Just picture them in a dark cave or something hiding from the collector

Well, I tried, I can't draw people lmaooooo, one of my references on my computer was eda the owl lady fanart hahahah, I wanna make her look like a deer of some sort although she is technically human with, half centipedes??
Idk man, I forgot her lore but like, I got diesel to affectionately eat her arm once that was cool, I wanted to draw her on paper but I don't want to break it from how much erasing I was gonna do, but it actually wasn't that much erasing, I could have drawn her on paper 😭
Then I could watercolor her in the future , damnit ahahah

As painful as it was, post-possessed Hunter's design is really pleasing to me, I just love when characters get fluffier hair, OK? 🥺 His mullet suits him so well!
I took pictures before I added his lil tooth gap and forgot the arm scars 😭 But I plan on digitalizing this into a simple painting anyway, so you'll still see those details! Maybe I'll add a few Flapjack elements in the background... 🥹
Reminder that you can send me fanart suggestions in my ask box! 💕

Whispers of Panic
WARNING! Contains:, Raine angst, Odalia being Odalia, bullying, anxiety, anxiety attack(s), tickling, teasing, Hurt/Comfort,
Ships: Raine x Eda and a little Darius x Alador
Word count: 6215 (Long I know)
It had been a few months since Raine had transferred to Hexide and they couldn’t have been happier, they were the best in the Bard track, their anxiety had been down and they were best friends with the coolest witch in the whole school, Edalyn Clawthrone. Who they had to admit was very talented, funny, smart, strong and beautiful with her golden eyes, fiery and fluffy orange hair and winning smile that could make anyone weak at the knees, at least it hopefully wasn’t just them.
Things couldn’t have been better for Raine Whispers, but this wouldn’t be a story if everything was just fine and dandy now would it.
Monday
It had been just like any other Monday morning, Raine walked with Eda and her sister Lillith to school before heading off to their class.
That was when Raine felt a hand on their shoulder stopping them midway to their class.
Raine turned as was met with the face of Principal Faust and vice principal Bump following close behind him, Faust looked angry about something or maybe that's just how his face looked and Bump looked to just be on edge, nothing out of the ordinary.
“Raine Whispers?” Faust asked in a calmish voice.
Raine swallowed a lump in their throat before responding, “Yes, That’s me.” Am I in trouble? Raine thought.
Faust breathed in, then asked “Are you aware?”
“Aware of what?”
“I’ll take that as a no.” Principal Faust acknowledged, “ You Raine Whispers have been selected.”
“Selected for what?” Raine inquired, hopefully it wasn’t to feed Grom, they would either be giving Grom food or being the food.
“You have been chosen to represent the Bard track at the Hexide end of year showcase this Friday.” Principal Faust replied with an unusual amount to vigor in his voice.
“The end of year showcase.” Raine muttered to no one in imparticular, they had learned about what the end of year showcase was from Eda. It was when students from the nine tracks would perform in front of the students that were going to attend hexide that next year. Wait a minute…
THEY HAD TO PERFORM IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE!!
“I have been chosen to perform, i-i-in front of ev-e-everyone.” Raine’s voice shook as the words came out past their lips.
“Yes.” Principal Faust reiterated, “You are by far the most talented Bard in the school, and you have a long history of performing at your previous school, so you are the perfect fit for the position.”
Yes, Raine had performed in front of people before, weak knees, shaking voice, horrible anxiety and they even had anxiety attacks on some occasions, the full stage fright buffet.
“The show is this Friday at 6pm sharp, I have every faith in you Mr. Whispers.” Principal Faust then walked away in the direction that Raine was pretty sure was his office.
Raine felt so uneasy and anxious they didn’t even notice Principal Faust had misgendered them. They had to perform in front of the whole school, teachers, parents and then some new students, there was no chance they could do this with messing up. What if they forgot their song and made a fool of themself? What if they tripped on stage in front of everyone, what if they fainted on stage? What if -
A concerned voice jolted them from their spiraling downfall of ‘what if’s’. “Raine, are you ok?” Asked Vice Principal Bump putting a warm comforting hand on their shoulder.
“Oh um- Yes, never better.” Raine spoke almost as if they hadn’t gotten the scare of a lifetime a few seconds prior, then they stepped back from Bump arms pinned to their sides tightly.
“Just so you know it is completely ok if you don’t want to do the showcase, I myself don’t do well with talking in front of a lot of people.”
Bump’s word’s felt comforting in a way Raine desperately wanted to accept, but they didn’t need the words. It was just a dumb irrational fear that they just couldn’t seem to control, honestly it was pathetic, The top bard in school had stage fright.
“It’s okay Vice Principal Bump, Like he said I’m the best bard in this school, so I should not have a problem performing in front of an audience.” Raine had poorly faked confidence in their voice that did not manage to cover up the trembling in their knees. “I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.”
“Are you telling me or convincing yourself?”
“A bit of both.” Raine breathed with an anxious laugh. “Hopefully, you’re buying it, cause I’m not.” Raine added.
With that Raine walked past Bump to get to their class, the anxiety dripping off their forehead in the form of sweat and knees barely holding themself up as they walked unreasonably slow to their teacher's classroom.
Class had gone by way too fast for Raine’s liking, all they could do is fidget with their pencil lost in their anxieties and worries like a labyrinth, and it most certainly didn’t help that their teacher had announced to the whole class that Raine had been selected to perform at the showcase which just made Raine feel even worse, they couldn’t disappoint everyone but they also couldn’t make a fool of themself in front of everyone.
Lunch had arrived and after waiting in the line to receive a tray of food, they began to walk silently across the cafeteria.
“Hey Rainstorm.” a familiar voice called out to them, Raine looked up from their tray to see Eda sitting at a table with Darius, Alador and Odalia who all looked at Raine with dull looks.
Raine walked over to the table all of them were sitting at and took a seat next to Eda and across from Alador who had his nose buried in a book, probably about Abominations or something.
“Hey what’s going on? I called you when you came in and you didn’t answer.” Eda asked, turning her head to face Raine.
“I-I didn’t hear you.” Raine responded, the stutter in their voice becoming more noticeable.
“Well obviously.” Eda chuckled while rolling her eyes playfully at them which made a faint blush appear on Raine’s cheeks.
“Ugh, how come no one asks about me for titans sake!” Odalia groaned while staring daggers at Alador who was not paying attention in the slightest, “Don’t any of you know that I’m representing the Oracle track at the Hexide showcase!” Odalia boasted her voice dripped with ego.
“You do know that, I’m representing the abomination Track, Raine’s representing the Bard track and Eda and her sister Lily are assisting with the showcase, correct?” Darius Nagged with brows pulled down in a judgemental frown.
“Yes but I’m representing the Oracle track and it’s the best track, you know why?”
“Don’t tell me.” Darius turned and took a bite from his sandwich the scowl still frim on his face.
“Hang on, back up, Raine, you never told me you’re in the Showcase.” Eda said turning to Raine fully giving them her full attention which startled Raine.
“Oh yeah, I-I am, -b–but I-I didn’t even find out until t-th-this morning.” Raine somehow managed to get out somewhat conheriantly.
Eda flung her arms around Raine in a side hug which made Raine’s face go as red as their blood rushed into their face, it took Eda a second to realize what she was doing before she awkwardly maneuvered away.
“Well it’s just-it’s a huge honor to represent your track in the end of year showcase; they only let the best of the best perform in it.” Eda explained the excited energy radiation off her, But then she noticed the table was shaking a bit so much that all of their lunch trays bounced up and down ever so slightly. Eda looked down to see Raine’s foot bouncing anxiously and when she looked up to see Raine’s face, they were biting their bottom lip with their eyes fixated on the ground.
“You ok Rainstorm?” Eda questioned her cru-friend. Her best friend. Her very best friend, who she did not at all like in that way.
Raine’s eyes shot back up and foot stopped bouncing but the anxiety still lingered on their face. “ O-of course I am.” Raine lied to not only their best friend but to the whole table.
“Hey, it’s ok to be nervous, I mean if you're nervous that just means it’s really important to you.” Darius smiled with a tone of voice that felt soothing.
“I-I’m not n-nerv-nervous.” Raine felt their ears and face go redder, this was ridiculous, they shouldn’t be nervous. They had performed in front of so many more people and were still terrified back then, Surely they’d all make fun of them if they knew.
“You are an awful liar, Raine.” Odalia scoffed her eyes looking Raine up and down with her icy blue eyes.
Raine felt fear grip their heart as if Odalia was going to pounce on them and claw their guts out through their pointy tipped ears if they so much as blinked in an irritating manner.
“I-I-I um-gotta go.” raine excused themself from the table and speed walked out of the cafeteria with shaky knees, Eda watched sadly as they left. They must be really nervous about performing, Eda said in her head, she had never seen Raine act so anxious before.
“Sad to watch your boyfriend go, Edalyn?” Odalia smirked at her with her arms folded against her chest.
“Ok number one, respect THEIR pronouns and two we are just friends.” Eda insisted, because they were, there were no romantic feelings between the two of them. Zero.
Darius swallowed the rest of their sandwich before responding. “Eda it hurts me immensely to say this but Odalia has a good point, I’ve seen the way Raine looks at you, and they only look at two things that way.” Darius raised his left hand and gestured to Edalyn. “You and their viola.” Darius retracted his hand back waiting for a response.
Eda had to force the stupid lovestruck grin off her face and gave Darius the strongest grimace she could muster. “Oh be quiet Darius, you have no right to judge my type considering yours.” with that Eda walked off with her empty tray in hand leaving the three alone.
Darius spared a glance at Alador who was still reading with a curious twinkle in his sparkling eyes, Dang, Darius could swim in those eyes for as long as he may live.
Odalia’s face moved to obscure his view of Alador and Darius immediately turned away from the two in embarrassment, why couldn’t he just move on? There was no chance he and Alador would ever be together, not in a million years.
Tuesday
Eda and Raine made their way to Eda’s locker as she needed to get one of her potions books, Raine had been near silent all day letting Eda do all the talking. Eda had definitely noticed this.
“Raine, are you sure that you’re ok? You’ve been awfully quiet since yesterday?”
Eda's eyes shifted to the bard, they looked stressed with their eyes glued to the floor, their legs shaking as they walked, and their hands were gripped onto their viola’s case’s handle with a white knuckle grip.
Raine looked up, adjusting the glasses on their face before forcing a smile a bit too wide on their face. “Yep, I just didn’t sleep well last night.” Raine told them the fake smile falling from their face as they spoke.
“If this is about the showcase, I’m sorry if I made it sound like a lot of pressure.” Eda made a mental note of the way Raine’s muscles had tensed at the mention of the showcase. “Because it’s actually a lot of fun, I should know I’m helping with the show.”
Raine tried to force the tenseness out of their shoulders and a clamish look on their face to appear, “What? I’m not scared, I have performed in my life more times than I can remember.”
Raine leaned onto the surface of the locker trying to appear cool and collected when the locker suddenly opened its mouth and Rain fell in.
Eda jumped into action grabbing Raine’s wrists and pulling with all her strength to get them out, that’s when the locker suddenly loosened its grip on the bard and almost made both of the witches fall over luckily Eda catching herself and Raine before they fell to the floor.
“Easy there Rainstorm, it would be a really bad way to die.” Eda giggled, setting Raine back on their still wobbly legs.
Raine let an anxious laugh flow through them and looked at their friend with a small smile.
“Thanks for the save.” Raine thanked Eda with a tint of red appearing on their cheeks.
“Don’t mention it.” Eda winked at them. A scream rang through the hall causing Raine to jump a bit, but luckily it was just the bell telling the students to get to class. Eda and Raine looked at eachother Raine with nervous energy and Eda with confusion.
“I better head to class.’ Raine gulped before picking up their viola and darting down the hall leaving Eda by herself with a concerned twinkle in her eyes.
“Bye?” She waved slowly, not that they noticed.
Wednesday
“I just don’t know what to do.” Raine admitted “The showcase is day after tomorrow and I still can’t get myself to stand up and perform in front of people, I know I should have just told Principal Faust I didn’t want to do the Showcase but I think he’s really counting on me and so is the rest of my class.” Raine sighed through their nose and buried their head in their arms.
“But I also can’t tell people I have severe stage fright. I mean think about the teasing, ‘The best bard in school has stage fright.’ Eda will probably not want to be my best friend, anyone which is just as bad, do you have any advice for me?”
Raine looked over to Alador who was reading and hadn’t even looked up from his stupid book. Raine tapped his shoulder to which Alador's eyes shifted to Raine.
“Oh hey Raine, when did you get here?”
Raine groaned before rubbing their temples. Maybe this is why Odalia was always annoyed with Alador Raine thought to themself.
“By the way, I wanted to tell you congratulations on getting selected to be in the showcase, that’s like a super big deal, So many people from all over the isles come to see it and last year the emperor's coven even came to see it. They only select the best witches to be in the showcase, the ones they know won’t mess it all up, a few years ago one kid got expelled by principal faust because the plant that she grew was four inches too high, but hey no pressure.” Alador finished with a smile that only the most oblivious person could have at that moment.
Raine felt their heart practically stop as Alador spoke, Now their place at hexide was now on the line, just like at their previous school, Raine felt their hands tremble and stomach tie itself tightly into a knot of anxiety. They were doomed. “Yep, no pressure.”
With that being said Raine went to the school to practice. Raine tried to relax as they began to whistle the melody of their favorite tune from when they were a child, simpler times.
Alador almost managed to return reading to his book but then he felt a strong force knock them down the steps and when Alador looked back they saw Raine covering their mouth with their eyes wide when they glanced over at him they immediately ran inside.
Alador steadied himself on the railing before his mind was suddenly connecting the dots. Remember the times when he got so frustrated with Odalia not letting him hang out with Darius and whatever Abomination slime nearby turned into huge monstrosities. he knew other witches could experience that too, was something bothering Raine?
“Was it something I said?”
Thursday
Raine was up to their ears in anxiety now, they practiced their songs on their viola all week even missing an hour or two of sleep practicing. But those stupid irrational fearful thoughts just kept coming back and kicking them.
Why couldn’t they just get over this?
Ok, Raine needed to calm down. Luckily a solution came to them soon enough, they could go hang out with Eda. After all, they hadn’t been hanging out with her as often because of how much they had been practicing.
Raine quickly put their viola in its case and made their way outside to the school’s Grudgby field where Eda was probably practicing with Lily.
But once Raine got there, they saw Eda playing by herself on the field with Odalia gazing into a crystal ball with Alador on the bleachers, Wow had Eda been by herself while they were practicing for the showcase Raine noted. Wow they had been pushing away their best friend just because of a stupid showcase.
“Hey Eda.” Raine hollered from across the field.
Eda’s ears perked up and when she saw Raine her smile lit up brighter than a light spell as she rushed over to Raine and they did their signature handshake perfectly in sync.
“Oh geez it feels good to see you.” Eda said hugging Raine tightly, Raine felt their heart flutter but accepted the hug, maybe some good old comfort was just what they needed.
The hug broke before Raine started speaking, “Yeah I guess I have been busy a lot lately.” Raine admitted arms wrapped around themself.
“Oh come on don’t feel too bad about it.” Eda said placing her hands on their shoulders “Everybody around this time of year gets busy like pre-paring for coven tryouts, finals, and not too mention the end of year showcase-”
Eda paused herself as she noticed Raine’s knees shaking and shoulders tensed at the mention of the end of year showcase, “Are you sure that you're not scared about it?” Eda asked, hands moving from Raine’s tense shoulders.
Raine forced their breathing to slow down and shoulders ease a bit. “Are we still talking about that?” Raine looked at Eda, trying too hard to appear calm. “I have performed dozens of times and it makes no sense for all the best Bard to have stage fright.” Raine locked their eyes down on the ground and tried to look like they were joking but all they got was a concerned look from Eda.
Eda knew Raine was nervous but did they actually have stage fright? Because that would explain a whole lot about how they had been acting the last few days. But Eda didn’t want to confront them here in front of the Drama queen herself (*cough* Odalia *cough*).
“Alright then, how about we go and grab some apple blood from the cafeteria?” Eda suggested hoping Raine would fall for her trap to them alone with her so she could talk to them.
“I think that the cafeteria is closed after school, Eda.” Raine pointed out. “But I could turn some water into apple blood if you want.”
Well that hadn’t quite gone according to plan Eda thought but Raine was so polite to offer her and she also couldn’t blow her cover so she nodded her head and went to fetch her some water and paper cups, leaving Raine waiting for her on the field.
Eda returned with two cups with water in them and held them out for Raine, Raine took in a breath then whistled but the magic didn’t flow out in a steady stream to change the chemistry of the liquid but instead in an uncontrolled burst that knocked both Eda and Raine off their feet, the water spilling out of the cups.
Eda looked at Raine slowly sitting up, Eda knew emotions had a strong effect on magic and that it was not Raine’s intention to do that, Raine must be in a much worse state of mind if their magic got that out of control.
Both witches got back on their feet, both unsure of what to say.
So Eda started, “Raine, are yo-.”
“YOU INSOLENT TRASH!”
Both of them looked up to Odalia on her feet holding up her crystal ball which had a small piece chipped off it. “YOU BROKE MY CRYSTAL BALL!” Odalia screamed like a banshee fighting poor, already shaken Raine.
Raine felt their throat and chest tighten with their knees getting weaker. “I-I-I’m s-sor-sorry.” Raine managed to push out.
“Oh you better be you stupid bard.” Odalia quickly jumped off the bleacher and got within a threatenly short distance from Raine. “What were you trying to do, kill me?”
“I-I didn’t-”
“Oh my titian just shut up.” Odalia was now red in the face with rage with both Eda and Alador just sitting there like statues. “Why were you selected to be in the showcase out of all people, because you know what?” Raine wanted to speak but couldn’t find any words to say.
“You are nothing but a poor, weak, cowardly excuse for a bard!” Odalia's eyes glowed with powerful rage.
Hot tears stung in Raine’s eyes like acid as sobs made their way to their throat, they just burst into tears as they ran off the field.
“Wait Rainstorm!” Eda shouted after them but they did not spare even a glance at her. She turned with fury to Odalia. “Do you know how upset you just made them!”
“Oh I’m well aware.” Odalia examined her painted purple nails “But seriously that was seriously pathetic.” Odalia crossed her arms across her chest narrowing her eyes at Eda.
“They already are stressed out enough without you screaming at them.” Eda was not only angry but also just felt sorry for her cru-friend, best friend.
Odalia smirked at Eda “Say what you want Edalyn. Just don’t act surprised when they screw up the showcase tomorrow.”
Odalia walked away with Alador looking back at Eda before following her. Eda just stood there alone on the grudgby field.
Friday (The night of the showcase)
Raine paced back and forth in the bard classroom which was being used as the waiting area for kids who were in the showcase, one kid from each track was there but none of them looked as nervous as Raine did.
Raine had been eating an apple given to them by Odalia while pacing trying to get themselves calm they couldn’t perform if they were this stressed. Their magic had been out of whack enough already lately from them being stressed out.
“Knock, knock.” Eda chanted while opening the door and Lillith stepped inside the room holding a clipboard.
Lilith looked up from her clipboard and began to speak “Alright folks, the show is starting in ten minutes and there are a lot of people here.” Raine took another bite out of their apple before chewing anxiously. “The order you are performing in is posted on the wall . Please familiarize yourself with it.”
As if on cue everyone started to crowd the paper on the wall, everyone except Raine who was waiting until everyone was gone, though they continued to chomp on the apple until a voice began to speak again.
“Raine, are you stress eating?” Eda asked with Lillith now walking towards her sister and Raine.
“What no, what makes you think that?” Raine swallowed what they were chewing.
Lilith stared at the apple they were eating before looking up at Raine.
“Because that apple you're eating is made out of foam.” Lilith pointed out. Raine looked down at the apple to see foam instead of fresh apple meat.
Odalia snickered behind her hand staring Raine dead in the eyes. Raine groaned before sitting down on a desk chair when Eda walked up to them and put a hand on their shoulder.
“Don’t worry Rainstorm, ignore what Miss ‘I’m so much better than everyone’ has to say, you’ll be awesome out there.” Eda smiled a toothy grin at them which made Raine’s heart melt.
“Come along Edalyn we got to get backstage.” Lilith whispered shouted at her younger sister before speed walking out the door, Eda got up to her feet but before she could follow her sister she leaned over and whispered to Raine. “Just so you know, you’ll be going last.”
That should have comforted Raine but it really didn’t , it just meant more time for them to be nervous and scared out of their mind.
Time ticked by fast, soon the kid from the beast keeping track was on and Raine was to be going next. Raine was still sitting down feeling nauseous, that was either nerves or the foam apple they had eaten. Maybe they could just fake that they were sick or sneak out the bathroom window.
“Raine!” a feminine voice shouted causing Raine to jump only to turn and see Lillith standing there, “Raine, you’re on in two minutes.” Raine had enough time to grab their Viola and bow and swallow nervously before following her to behind the curtains where they could see a kid on stage with a giant worm trying to tame it.
Raine gripped their instrument harder trying to get themself to calm down with little to no success trying to do so when Principal Faust was suddenly walking on stage.
“And now for our final act of the night we have Raine whispers performing for the Bard track. Principal Faust announced as an eruption of cheers and claps prevailed.
Raine froze, this was it, there was no going back now, it was now or never, Oh how Raine wished they could choose never.
“Go!” Lilith nudged them from behind pushing Raine on to the stage in sight of the audience, Raine’s chest tightened and their knees knocked together as they tried to position their viola to play it, but when they looked up and saw the dozens and dozens of eyes staring at them.
Raine lost it
Eda was watching backstage worried upon seeing her cru-FRIEND, GOSH DARN IT. completely freeze up when they look at the people in the audience. When suddenly Raine ran off stage ignoring the people who were calling their name behind them including Eda. Eda looked to see everyone who was backstage dumbfounded except for Odalia who was grinning evilly, That sick witch. But Eda would deal with her later, right now she had something more important to do.
Eda took off in the direction Raine went trying to find them, when they came to an empty classroom and they heard heavy breathing and dry sobs, Eda slowly opened the door to see Raine with their knees pulled up to their chest, glasses crooked on their nose and arms wrapped around their knees.
Eda slowly sat down next to Raine unsure of what to say for what felt like the millionth time that week, but she had to say something. So she sighed before forcing words to come out of their mouth.
“Raine, it’s-.”
But before Eda could say more Raine looked up at her for Eda to see the terrifying sight that was their eyes, Raine’s usually vibrant green eyes that were usually full of music were now dull and red with tears brimming the edges of their eyes.
“Go away Eda, you don’t deserve to be around someone who just ruined the showcase for everyone.” Raine’s voice was weary and tight as if confined to their throat forever.
“Oh please Raine, Odalia ruined the showcase when she just talked about how amazing her future is for twenty minutes straight.” Eda said bluntly.
“At least she didn’t run off the stage and make herself look like a fool.” Raine’s voice cracked midway through their sentence.
“Raine, it’s all ok.” Eda tried to reassure them only for Raine to curl up tighter and bury their head into their arms.
“No, it’s not, I have stage fright!” Raine admitted to Eda. “Ok there I said it, I’m normally able to just suck it up and perform but for some stupid reason I couldn’t just do that like the dozens of times I’ve done it in the past. What kind of Bard has stage fright? Why can’t I just grow up and lose this stupid irrational fear? Odalia’s right, I am a poor excuse for Bard.”
Eda was stunned, she kind of already figured out Raine had stage fright but she didn’t realize it this bad. She was even more stunned to hear raine talking so harshly of themself, it almost made Eda angry to hear her best friend thought of themself that way. She couldn’t just sit there and let her friend tear themself down like that.
“Raine, can you turn towards me?” Eda asked in the most gentle voice she could. Raine slowly moved their head from their arms only for Eda to pull them into a tight hug letting them bury their face in their hair as she rubbed their back to ease them.
“Raine, you are the most talented Bard in the whole school and probably on the boiling isles, and you don’t need to be on stage and perform in front of an audience to prove that to anyone.” Eda felt Raine hiccup but did not let that discourage her. “You shouldn’t let fear control your life but you also shouldn’t force yourself to face your fears unless you are ready to because then you just hurt yourself and that is never the answer, But my point is you really shouldn’t be so hard on yourself, You’re doing great.”
Raine almost started sobbing, but they did cling onto Eda a little bit harder. It was a few minutes before Raine let go of Eda and began wiping the tears from their cheeks as they looked at Eda, eyes still wet with tears. “Thanks Eda, I needed to hear that.” Raine smiled at her.
“You're welcome.” Eda felt a sense of pride wash over her as Raine smiled at her, things would be ok. “How about we get you home?” Eda asked.
Raine looked down, almost ashamed before speaking “I don’t think I can face my parents after I ran off stage.” Raine’s knees fell from their chest as they finished and Eda understood. Disappointing the people who sacrificed a lot for you just makes you feel like a failure, and that was the last thing Raine needed right now.
“How about you stay the night at my place? Both of my parents couldn’t make it to the showcase because they had some emergency at work so they probably won’t be home until morning.” Eda knew that it would probably be a bit awkward but she was willingly to put those feelings aside for Raine’s sake.
Raine gratefully smiled at her and nodded.
“Alright then, let’s get moving.” Eda helped Raine to their feet and they snuck out the classroom window and rode Owlbert to Eda’s house with Raine texting their parents that they would be spending the night with a friend's house.
After they got to Eda’s home, they found Lily wasn’t there (Probably still dealing with the drama at the school). So they ended up going to Eda’s room and just watching Eda’s crystal ball. It was obvious Raine was still coming down from an anxiety high because they were still quite fidgety and their leg were still bouncing up and down as they sat in Eda’s desk chair.
After watching three episode of some reality witch show, it was decided they would get ready for bed, Eda went to the bathroom to brush her teeth while Raine just sat on her bed picking at the skin around their nails, when Eda came back out she felt a pang of sadness run through her, it wasn’t easy seeing someone she cared for still feel bad.
“You ok? Rainstorm” Eda asked. Raine was about to say something along the lines of ‘I’m fine, totally fine.” but then they stopped themself. Eda wasn’t going to make fun of them for not being fine. So Raine just shook their head.
Eda sat down on her bed in front of Raine, “Still feeling bad about what happened?”
Raine just nodded, they weren’t completely over what happened, not anyone probably would be at that point.
If Eda could just snap her fingers and make Raine feel better then she would, she just had to think of something. Then Eda got an idea, an awful idea, Eda got a wonderful awful idea (Dr seuss anyone?). Eda looked over at Raine who looked at her back.
“Hey Raine, I could try something that my sister used to do to me to cheer me up, if you’re ok with it.” Raine gave her an inquisitive look but what did they have to lose?
“Yeah ok.” Raine responded.
Eda slowly put her hands on Raine’s stomach which made Raine squeak and cheeks flush, Eda took in how adorable that was before she began to trace circles over their stomach. Raine felt a wobbly smile as they shook with repressed giggles, they really tried not to giggle but Eda’s fingers were maddening.
Eda saw Raine fighting down giggles and took that as a sign to start tickling. The sparky feeling in Raine’s stomach grew as Eda was tickling them, Raine couldn’t pick out if it was torture or pleasure but either way Raine began to softly giggle which had Eda taken it back. Raine’s giggles were soft and melodic in a way that made her blush like crazy, but she brushed it off because right now she had to make Raine hysterical.
Raine felt Eda’s hands shift from their stomach to sides which almost immediately made them start to giggle and when Eda started tickling their sides they started laughing. Raine began to fall back on the bed, and Eda followed them pinning them down beneath her.
“EDHAHAHAAHA NAHAHAHAT MY SIHAHAHAHAHDES!” Raine barely got the words out between their fits of laughter.
Eda took pleasure in the fact Raine was having trouble getting words out and decided to tease them.
“Aww… What’s the matter, Whispers? Can’t handle a bit of tickling?”
Raine’s face and ears got redder, admittedly they were feeling a lot better than before, and they were thankful Eda hadn’t managed to find their worst spot yet (Foreshadowing).
The two were having the time of their lives but then Eda made a discovery. When her hand got a bit lower and landed on Raine’s hip, Raine burst into hysterics. Eda had found Raine’s weakness and now she was going to exploit it.
She began to squeeze and tickle Raine’s hips which got her the cutest laughter out of Raine. Raine had jinxed themself and now they were paying the price, and it was quite a hefty price as well.
“Wow, Raine, you’ve got quite the giggle button.” Eda started slowing down her tickles as Raine started to wheeze and hiccup, and soon enough Eda’s tickles had completely stopped.
Raine took a few deep breaths before they stared up at Eda, her face mere inches from theirs. Both teens took a pause just staring into each other's eyes in some odd way.
Eda couldn’t take it anymore, She pressed her lips against Raine’s lips which caused Raine to stiffen from shock. It was impulsive but felt so right, Raine relaxed as brought a hand to Eda’s cheek with Eda’s arms around their neck. After a minute they broke apart and after a second opened their eyes.
“You’re…extremely red.” Eda chuckled.
“Shut up!” Raine turned their face away from Eda’s
“Like actually vermillion.”
“I said shut up!” Raine repeated to Eda though they giggled a bit through their sentence.
Eda looked at Raine with a smile which Raine returned without a second thought, Eda had to ask now, she had no excuse not to. “Rainstorm, would you like to go out with me sometime?”
“I would love to.” Raine beamed.
Eda hugged Raine as her adrenaline died down causing her to feel drowsy in Raine’s hold. Raine felt Eda relax and they relaxed too with a sense of calm filling the room.
Bonus
Lillith stormed inside the house, she had been at the school for two whole hours sorting out the problem and looking for Raine and Eda who had disappeared to titian knows where.
Lilith made her way upstairs grumbling, she had figured Eda went home early to avoid the chaos and given the hour was probably asleep. So She naturally went to her sister's room about to start nagging her but felt herself pause at the sight before her.
Eda and Raine were cuddled up together on Eda’s bed both fast asleep.
Lilith sighed, grabbing a spare blanket from the closet upstairs and laying it on top of the two before walking out to her own room.
She could nag them all she wanted tomorrow.

Ok now future Willow meeting present Hunter (and yeah, greeting him in a way he absolutely dies) I love these sm!!!! 😭😭😭
Okay listen. It’s short and goofy buuuuut I guess we do need to compete the square.
———
Hunter and Luz once again fell from the sky, not too far from where they had originally left but uncertain how far they were from thejr correct time.
“Is portal jumping supposed to make you so nauseous?” Luz inquired, holding her stomach.
“They’re artificial portals, so they’re more unpredictable and less dependable,” said Hunter, feeling equally dizzy.
“Aw, Lilith said the same thing about Eda once,” Luz recalled fondly.
“Nevertheless, we have to be careful,” said Hunter rising to his feet. “We should find the others and make sure we’re in the right-.”
“Hey Gus, I found them!” came a voice down the way and Luz and Hunter saw Willow off in the distance. Luz waved to her friend as she summoned Clover to fly over to them quicker and she couldn’t help but notice her brother watched her silently as a blush crept onto his face.
“Oh look, now you have another chance to ask if she thinks you’re cute,” teased Luz in a whisper.
“Do not mention that,” he said in a panicked whisper of his own.
“Oh c’mon, I don’t think she changed her mind,” said Luz, playfully elbowing his ribs.
“Luz, I’m not gonna let you embarrass me in front of Willow twice in one-.” He was cut off but a blur of green as Willow nearly knocked him over with the force she embraced him with as she hopped off her staff. She trapped his arms at his sides and lifted him off the ground as she spun him around, laughing in delight. When she finally set him down, he attempted to process his feelings to properly greet her but before he could she pulled him down into a firm, eager kiss.
Willow held him down like he was floating way and Hunter became a worthless noodle, a melted popsicle, total putty in her hands. He knees forgot how to work and as soon as Willow released him, he feel straight to the ground like a pile of bricks.
Willow simply giggled and looked at him fondly. “Hi.”
Luz examined the plant witch who stood before her and squinted in suspicion. “Okay, am I crazy or are you-.”
“Oh no, I’m not the Willow you came here with,” she said with a knowing smile. “Well timeline wise at least. Time pools or whatever, ya know? I’m guessing by Hunter’s hair that we’re just a couple months apart.”
“Soooo does that mean in the future, you and Hunter are-.”
“We’re kind of dating, yeah,” she giggled, rocking on her heels as she brushed her hair behind her ear to show off a sparkling gold earring.
“Oh! We’re gonna be sister-in-laws!” Luz squealed. “Oh, wow Amity owes me so much money.”
“Okay, calm down I’m not from that far in the future,” she laughed. “But, I should probably go find my Hunter; this has been happening all day.”
“You just... go around kissing Hunters?” Luz asked.
“Yeah,” she said with a laugh, admiring the passed out boy from the past still laying on the ground. “It’s kinda ma thing.”
“But his hair changes a lot, shouldn’t you be able to tell which Hunter is from the past and which is the one you’re dating?”
“Yeah,” she admitted. “But I guess I just get excited.”
Luz looked down to Hunter on the ground and gently kicked the back of his foot. “Holy cow Willow, I think you killed him.”
“I’m fine!” Hunter insisted enthusiastically from the ground, his voice shaky and whimsical. “I’m totally fine with it! I’m more than fine with it!”
“Awh, he says that every time.” Future Willow said with a smile.

Stepping Stones: Chapter 7
Darius opens the door with a small huff of relief, drawing raised eyebrows from Eda. Relief isn’t an emotion she usually inspires, especially not this early in the morning.
“Please,” Darius says. “Tell me you’re here to go with Raine when they drop off their paperwork and make sure they don’t back out of it.”
“I’m here to go with Raine when they drop off their paperwork and make sure they don’t back out of it,” Eda confirms, and Darius pumps his fist, stepping aside so that she can come in.
“Raine,” he calls, “your girlfriend is here. Time to get going.”
“Eda?”
Raine emerges from the corner of the house where the bunk beds are stacked, and Eda bites back a laugh even as heat floods her cheeks. From the neck down, they’re as immaculate as ever in a button-down white shirt, high-waisted black pants, and heeled boots. But only every other button of the shirt is done up, and their hair sticks out in about twenty directions at once. It’s a good look.
Darius, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to agree. “No. You’re not going out like this.”
“Why? These are some of my nicest clothes—“
“Which is why they should be buttoned properly.”
Raine looks down and groans. “I was up half the night filling out those stupid forms,” they explain, hastily doing up the shirt according to its design.
“Hey, I thought it was a look,” she tells them.
“See? You know that’s a red flag.” Darius pulls out a hairbrush from who-knows-where and runs it through Raine’s hair, smoothing the fluffy green locks until they all flow in the same direction. Shame.
“Thanks, Darius,” Raine says, standing again and taking Eda’s outstretched hand. “You were really going to let me turn in my paperwork looking like that?” They ask her.
“After fifty years of leadership from a masked creep in pristine white? Absolutely. We need a leader who really represents the people: sleep deprived and owning it.”
Raine elbows her. Eda retaliates, the two of them jabbing at each other until they’re both grinning and Darius shoves them out of the door with his abomination hair.
“Go on and be sappy somewhere else,” he crabs. “And Raine, don’t come back until you’ve turned your paperwork in!”
The door slams behind him.
“He certainly seems like a low-intensity roommate,” Eda says dryly.
Raine laughs and summons Fiddlesticks. They hold their staff horizontally, then pause, the mirth fading from their face.
Eda puts a hand on their shoulder. “When was the last time you flew on your own?”
Raine smiles sadly. “On my way to my initiation as a coven head.”
Eda pulls them close, and they lean their head on her shoulder. “You can still fly with me if you want,” she says softly. “Until you get used to the idea of flying with a new palisman.”
“As much as I hate to deprive you of my company,” Raine teases, “I think this will be good for me.”
“Well, I had to try.” Eda’s mostly joking, but the idea of flying without their arms around her waist does make her feel a little colder. Still, she kisses their head and steps back, summoning Owlbert and perching on his staff. Raine takes a deep breath, then another, and then perches on Fiddlesticks’s.
Eda lets them take the lead, waiting until they decide to take off and following close behind them. They start off slow, but gradually pick up speed until they’re slicing effortlessly through the air, months of being bound to the ground sliding away. Not to be outdone, Eda pulls ahead, craning her neck to get a look at their face. They grin, a spark in their eyes that she hasn’t seen in years.
“I forgot how much I missed this,” they breathe.
“Let’s see if you’ve still got your old skills,” Eda calls. “Race you to the library!”
She takes off as soon as the last word leaves her lips, Raine squawking indignantly behind her.
With the palace in shambles, the makeshift committee that’s been in charge of the Isles these last two months has been meeting in the Bonesborough Library. It’s a suitably grand building, and Lilith liked the symbolism of the island’s leaders being surrounded by “endless tomes of knowledge”. As the towering stone building gets closer, Eda notices enormous vines curling over the stairs— evidence of Terra’s interruption that she supposes no one had had the energy to remove.
She soars over them and neatly touches down in front of the doors a second before Raine does.
“Looks like someone has some practicing to do,” she says, turning back to them with a grin.
“You had a head start!”
Eda turns back to the door, not intending to dignify that with a response, but it bursts open before she can touch the handle and Luz barrels out, carrying a truly terrifying stack of books in one hand and holding Amity’s hand with the other.
“Luz? When did you get here?”
“After you left!”
“Correct me if I’m wrong,” Eda says, glancing at her watch, “but doesn’t your human school start in fifteen minutes?”
“Which is why we have to go,” Amity says, tugging on Luz’s hand. “I don’t want to get you in trouble with Camila!”
Eda shakes her head proudly. “Cutting class for a secret date. I’ve taught you well, apprentice.”
“I was studying!” Luz protests, shoving her stack of books a hairlength away from Eda’s nose. “What about this says secret date to you?”
“With you two,” Eda sighs, “I can never tell.”
Luz pauses. “That’s fair.” Then her eyes light up, focusing over Eda’s shoulder. “Raine! Your palisman!”
Raine beams. “Their name is Fiddlesticks.”
“Awww, just when I thought they couldn’t get any cuter,” Luz gasps, holding out a hand and watching with shining eyes as Fiddlesticks scurries along her arm, making their way to her shoulder and nuzzling her and then Stringbean in greeting.
“If you make it to school on time, I’ll take them to the Human Realm after so you can get to know each other,” Raine says.
“Great! Yes! Amity, let’s go!” Luz crams her unholy stack into an enormous bag, swings it over Stringbean’s staff, and hops on behind it.
Thank you, Amity mouths to Raine, then climbs onto Ghost’s staff and speeds away after Luz.
“You think she’ll make it?” Raine asks, watching them go.
Eda shrugs. “We usually did.”
A faint smile curves Raine’s mouth as they turn to open the doors. They and Eda make their way through the maze of books and up to the little rooms that have been designated “administrative offices” with haphazard signs.
“Lilith is the one handling the paperwork,” Raine says. “She was adamant that she’s not going to run.”
Eda opens the door to Lilith’s office without preamble, sticking her head in to find her sister bent over a truly alarming stack of papers. “Really?” She asks. “Perfect Lilith, Type A Extraordinaire, doesn’t want to shape the Isles in her image?”
Lilith shakes her head. “I learned the hard way that positions of power aren’t very good for me.” She looks up, meeting Eda’s eyes. “I don’t like who I become to get them.”
Eda swallows. Nods. The tension in the room is thick enough to contain even the most corrosive of potions until Raine steps forward with their stack of forms and Lilith’s face lights up.
“But Raine, you’d be perfect! I’m so glad you decided to apply!”
She reaches for the stack, and Raine’s fingers tighten on it. Eda lays a hand on their shoulder, gentle but firm, and Raine lets go with what sounds like a sigh of relief.
“That’s my Rainestorm.” Eda winds her arm around their neck. “Come on, you beautiful bard. Let’s go get some apple iced scream to celebrate.”
“Actually,” Raine says as they exit the library together, “there’s something I wanted to talk with you about first.”
Eda perches on a vine, and Raine pulls themself up behind her. “Ask away,” she says— and then is hit by immediate and debilitating regret when she sees the look in their eyes. It’s the patented Raine Whispers Is About to Ask You About Something You’re Repressing look, and she wants no part in it.
“You said you had other ideas for how to leave your mark on the Isles,” Raine says. “What did you mean?”
Eda briefly contemplates deflecting, but they both know Raine would see right through it.
“Do you know what a university is?”
Raine shakes their head.
“It’s something Luz told me about. In the Human Realm— or her part of it, at least— after graduating, some kids will go to schools called universities that are supposed to prepare them for their careers. It kind of interested me. For the last fifty years, everyone has entered a coven as soon as they left school, if not before. But now that we don’t have covens anymore, would that still work?”
“I’ve thought about that, too,” Raine says. “So… you want to start one? A universibee?”
“University. No bees involved. I had Lily look it up, and before the covens, the Isles used to have them too, so it shouldn’t be quite so hard to bring them back. So. Yes. I think. Go ahead, you can say it. I’m a hypocrite.”
Raine squints. “What? Why would I say that?”
“I literally just said yesterday that I don’t want to be an authority figure.”
“Thank goodness. Kids who are trying to learn don’t need a disciplinarian; they need a guide.”
And dang it, Eda feels herself starting to smile.
“Why haven’t you mentioned this?” Raine asks, more softly now. “I could have brought it to the committee and worked it into the budget. Everyone would have loved it.”
Eda shrugs. She tries to look nonchalant, though she knows her next words will undermine that. It’s more for her benefit than Raine’s, anyway.
“I want to start a school of magic, but I don’t have any magic. Not even the glyphs, anymore.” She smiles bitterly. “I wasn’t exactly sure if I was qualified.
“But then I look at Luz. She has piles of work from her human school— which are incomprehensible, by the way— and no magical ability or glyphs or anything, and she’s still in the library reading about the history of magic, and mixing up abomination goo, and playing your violin, and practicing spell circles with her palisman. She can’t do a single spell, and she understands magic better than almost anyone I know. I’d trust her to run a school, so I ought to trust myself, right? And if my first student turned out this well, just think of all the talent I could squeeze out of those kids.”
Raine laughs, but their eyes are shining as they cup Eda’s face in their hands and press their forehead to hers. “I’m so proud of you.”
“We’ve come a long way, haven’t we?”
“And it looks like we only have farther to go.”
Both of them give heaving, overdramatic sighs at the same time and crack up. “All right,” Eda says, launching herself off of the vine. “That’s enough serious stuff for one day. Ice cream only now.”
“Okay, but Eda—“
“No!”
“One last thing! Your university— can I talk to the committee about it?”
“It’s not like they can fund it until the election.”
“No, but we can figure out a budget for it and start thinking about how it might work.”
“This is just a ploy to get me to come to one of those meetings, isn’t it?”
“Eda, I’ve been waiting to see a rematch between you and Terra for years. If you’re not there the next time she barges in, I’m going to combust.”
Eda cackles. “Well, how can I resist that invitation?”
“So you’ll let me bring it up?”
“Yeah, yeah. But you’d better win this election, Rainestorm. I’m not building this school with someone who doesn’t understand my vision.”
“I’m still not going to let you release any ghouls in the dorms.”
“Such a spoilsport.”
“Well, go on then. What are you thinking for your curriculum?”
“You’re probably going to regret asking,” Eda warns, because these ideas have been circulating in her head for years. But even though Eda has so much to say that she doesn’t pause for breath until she’s shoving a spoonful of iced scream into her mouth, Raine never once stops smiling.

Huntlow Prompt; Willow asks Hunter to teach her how to fly an airship (since it's HEAVILY implied in Clouds on the Horizon that she doesn't know and was willing to learn on the fly to chase down Kiki and give her a beat down before she could take 'Hunter' to Belos) mostly as an excuse to spend more time alone with him.
First off the fact that you sent me a prompt had me mentally screaming. So i hope this is good! Definitely didn't take days trying to make sure its perfect.
.
.
"We'll be sending materials to rebuild and transporting goods tomorrow aboard the aircrafts. Since you know how to fly then we'll need your help. You'll just have to miss the game." Darius told Hunter.
This brought an unsatisfied sigh from the ex-soldier. "But.. It's Willow! She's the one that invited me!" Hunter whispered shouted as he tried to not be obvious about his displeasure to the others in the room.
Darius muttered something about hormones and rubbed his face tiredly. "Well then you better find someone else that knows how to fly an airship."
Hunter looked back at the three others in the room. Eda and Raine were already gonna be flying one of the aircrafts and Luz was heading back to the human for the week because of school. He had only made a few friends outside of the hexsquad as they called themselves and he'd have felt bad asking any of them to do it... well he seriously doubted they even knew how to fly one. Gus was too young to fly one even if he taught him.  And showing Willow how to fly one would be stupid considering the purpose of finding someone to do it for him was so he could spend time with her.
He groaned in annoyance. "Ok fine. I'll just have to tell her I can't go."
"Sorry Little Prince, I'll pay for yalls tickets whenever the next game is in town." Darius assured.
"Wait. She had to pay for the tickets?!" Hunter freaked out at this new information. Not only was he not coming, but he wasted her money? Oh this couldn't get worse.
He then turned out the door and ran towards her house.
.
Hunter found the dark haired beauty kneeled to the ground as she worked the soil around a small plant. He felt his hands tighten to fists and he became a loss of words when she turned and smiled at him.
"Hey Hunter. I didn't know you were coming by. "
"Heh, uhm, surprise?" He tried.
She smiled sweetly and patted the ground beside her as she wiped her hands on her skirt.
Hunter gulped and tensely sat down. Under any other circumstances he'd have started gushing on about something he found out that day or just straight up tipped over his words in an incoherent train of thought. But today guilt flooded his mind.
"I'm not gonna make it tomorrow." He rushed out.
'Wh-"
"I can pay you back for the tickets! I promise. Dell has been giving me allowance and even some extra pay for helping with the planting and carving. So- ugh. I forgot my bag." Hunter cursed under his breath and smacked his hand to his forehead.
"Oh.. It's ok. They weren't that expensive. You don't have to pay. " Willow dismissed casually but Hunter could see the disappointment in her eyes. His heart dropped at the sight and he desperately tried to think of something to make up for it.
Maybe... he could take her-
"Did something come up?" Willow asked but seemed very interested in her fingers all of a sudden.
"I have to help transport goods and building materials to the Left Arm. They don't have anyone else that knows how to fly that isn't busy or already flying one."
This caught her interest. “You’re taking an air ship?”
”Yeah. Why?”
“Well… I’ve always wanted to know how to fly one of them.. you know, to add it to my list of achievements?” She tried, gaze averted towards the sky.
”Oh really? They’re not that hard maybe-“
”You could teach me!” She finished excitedly. She grabbed his hands in hers and smiled widely. Eyes lit up at the idea.
It took Hunter a full three seconds to catch up to what she was saying as he was distracted by his hands between her own. “You want me to teach you? Really?”
”yeah! Besides last time I tried it didn’t uhm. Work well. So it’d be nice to know how to, In case something comes up again.”
“Y-yeah. I don’t know when I’d be able to though. Well I’m free but I- I mean when you are free?”
“We can go now! Surely they won’t mind if the boiling isles favorite hero taught little ole me.”
Hunter chuckled at this. “You mean if the boiling isles like fifth favorite hero taught the worlds most powerful witch.” He smirked, unconsciously leaning closer.
“I wouldn’t say the most powerful… maybe the boiling isles fifth favorite biggest fan.” She hinted. Now only mere inches away from the blondes face, their heart and galderstone quickened in pace.
Last time they were this close to eachother they had kis-
“Woah! Am I interrupting something?”
The two jerked away from each other, faces flushed deeply and met the gaze of their favorite illusionist. He wore a sly smirk on his face. Arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.
“Yes.”
”No!”
The two replied in unison. They both snapped their gaze back to each other, shock on the plant witches face and embarrassment/confusion from the grimwalker.
“He’s not?”
”He is?”
Gus laughed mercilessly at the two before stating he’d give them a minute. That he had to grab something from inside.
“So uhm. Do you want to go today? I’m free.” Willow stated quickly, too embarrassed to talk about what had almost happened while trying to hold back the laughter at the blondes disappointed face.
“Oh. Yeah we can. What about Gus? He seemed like he needed something.” He mumbled.
”oh don’t worry about him. Imma run inside and change real quick and then see what he needed. You could come inside but… then my dads would want to ask too many questions and it would take away our time together- I mean our time to train! “ she laughed forcefully and took off towards the door.
.
.
“Hunter? What are you- you brought your girlfriend? If this is about the game tomorrow then we can find-“
”No! She wants me to teach her how to fly. And she’s not- er we’re not uhm-“
”I asked Hunter to teach me how to fly one in case y’all need an extra hand later. It’s fine. The tickets aren’t that expensive anyway.” She prompted with a raised eyebrow, hoping the ex head coven witch would catch on.
Darius raised and eyebrow and nodded slowly. “Well thank you for the help Miss Park. I’m sure it will come in handy soon. I’ll leave you to it then. Make sure to have the airship back before sunset please so we can load it tonight, Hunter.”
”Oh of course! Thanks Darius.” Hunter smiled at the closet thing he seemed to have to a father before turning towards the plant witch. “This way.”
The two walked towards one of the many air ships, and made their way aboard it. Hunter looked at the many levers and suddenly went kind blank. “So uhm. What part did you wanna learn?”
“How to fly? I guess. Are there different ways to-“
”No! Sorry that was a stupid question. Sorry I just, it’s hard to think around you sometimes- I mean not that it’s a bad thing but- I… I don’t know. This is an airship!” He shouted unnecessarily. He felt heat rush to his face as he pursed his lips and put his hands on his hips. What the heck was he doing? He knew how to teach someone how to fly. Sure he hadn’t done it before but it couldn’t be that hard! Titan help.
Willow giggled and brought a hand to her mouth. She then tapped a finger to her chin and hummed thoughtfully. “You could start by telling me what does what?” She offered.
This brought an “O” to the boys face. He then turned towards the front and looked over the many operating levers and such. “Well. You see the wheel, of course it’s used for steering. It controls the keel. It’s like, do you know how a bird uses its tail feathers to turn and balance themselves while they’re flying?”
”I didn’t but I do now. That’s pretty cool.” She smiled thoughtfully.
”heh, well uhm that’s what that’s for. And then see this? This controls the sail and mast. You’ll want to be wary of the wind for that. It also controls the speed. And then this lever? The one hanging? It lowers the ship- safely. Last time one of y’all pulled this lever,” he pointed, “ that turned on the autopilot. Since Darius had it on autopilot, he didn’t have this lever pulled, this turns the propellers on. I don’t know why he did that though, autopilot is the main reason people crash the ships. It’s fine if they want to, well need to do something but he should have left this on anyways.  That just means he wasn’t paying a lick of attention and didn’t want to watch the meter.” He huffed indignantly and muttered something about how he could’ve gotten them hurt. “This is the one that turns on the propellers, that starts the ship. This one lifts it up. And that one, depending on which shift you’re in, brings you however high you wanna go. I would stay in the fifth shift since you’re a beginner. You don’t want to be low in case of running into something or being to close to the forest canopy. But you don’t need to be high enough that you get caught in a wind turbulence. That could be bad.” He trialed off.
.
Willow looked up and smiled. “So this is pretty much all I need to know?”
”Well this is the basics. So technically you could fly a ship, but you would definitely need someone with you who knew what they were doing.”
A devious smirk formed on the plant witch’s face. “You seem like you know what you’re doing.”
”Well of course I do- wait. Do you wanna try flying it?”
“Maybeee?” She smiled widely.
His galderstone best a little faster at the large grin on her face. It had taken him who knows how long to go over everything and show which lever does which. The sun looked like it would set soon.. and Darius said to have it back before then. “I don’t-“
”Please?” She asked, eyes wide, her hands now gripping his in her own. She squeezed them in anticipation.
“I- I guess it wouldn’t hurt?”
“Yes!” She jumped excitedly and turned towards the levers. Using all her knowledge she had gained to start the ship and got ready for lift off.
It took everything in Hunter not to freak out as she quickly turned everything on. But she obviously had been listening cause he didn’t see one wrong move. Titan this girl was a fast learner.
But then she reached for the wrong lever. “Wait!” Hunter tried, but didn’t make it fast enough before she pulled it back and they were sent skyrocketing into the air.
“AHHH!”
Hunter quickly took over and pulled a few lever, before putting that one back in place. They were a few hundred feet in the air now, luckily they hadn’t gotten too high up.
He sighed in relief.
Just as he thought his galderstone had settled from the panic it picked right back up. He saw two hand clasped around his waist and noticed the feel of someone snuggled against his back. He gulped, feeling his face burn fiercely.
“I’m sorry.” She mumbled from behind.
Silence.
”Hunter?” The girl slowly let go of his waist and peeked around. His face was red, he bit his lip, clamping his mouth shut. Obvious mirth shone from his eyes as he met her gaze.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHA”
“What?” Willow stood in shock as the blond boy doubled over from laughing so hard.
“You-you…” he wheezed.
Willow narrowed her eyes but couldn’t help the laughter that bubbled up from her stomach. Soon they were both laughing merrily.
As the laughter died down, Willow twirled a piece of hair in her finger. “I pulled the autopilot lever didn’t I?”
He nodded, a big smile still on his face as he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye and let out a long happy sigh.  “You’re so amazing.”
“I almost got us killed.” She chuckled.
“I know. But it’s ok. We’re ok. I just thought you were doing so well! Which you did and then that happened, I couldn’t help but laugh, I’m sorry.”
“I’d have laughed too, it’s ok. I. To tell the truth I kind of stopped listening half way through.” She muttered softly. A small pink tint draped across her cheeks.
“Oh… I was talking too much. I’m sorry.”
”What? No!” Willow quickly caught herself and grabbed his hands again. “I love listening to you talk. You were just… so darn cute I couldn’t pay attention.”
Hunter squeaked. “Cute?”
”Yeah! You’re cute. I can usually focus but you were being extra cute.” She muttered sheepishly. “I.. I didn’t come to learn how to fly either.. I mean I did! But it was mainly just so I could spend time with you.” She admitted.
Hunter felt like his chest was gonna burst at the pure joy he felt in hearing that.
She wasn’t prepared for what came out his mouth next.
“Please marry me.”
”Wait what?” She blushed fiercely.
”Uh. I mean! Oh look at time! Darius is gonna kill is if we don’t land this ship soon!” Hunter quickly turned away and started operating the ship towards the others. His face was redder than she had ever seen it and she felt herself flutter at the thought of what he said.
“One day. Maybe.”
”Huh?”
”I’ll marry you one day.”  She smiled as she placed a quick kiss on his cheek and leaned her head against his shoulder.
He felt like he could die from happiness then and there. But maybe he better land that ship first.

When the dragons fly(book 2)
Tumblr media
With Helena's encouragement, you leave the village to investigate the strange pulling you felt toward the forest. Aelon and his friends end up facing a peculiar problem.
Chapter 3
Warnings: mentions of medicines, an injured eye, someone being a creep, sensing strange calling, orcs, panic, being bitten once, an angry old man and his turtle.
---------------------------------------
You dropped down the pile of wood into the stock. The wooden blocks clacked against each other while you brushed your hands from the wood dust and dirt. You looked up to Dwenn, who leisurely rocked on his chair and held his pipe in his hands, releasing small puffs of smoke.
"Alright, that should be all. The floors are clean, the orders are ready to be delivered, and you have enough wood to warm up the house for a few days,” you said as you stepped beside him.
"Thank you, (Name). I have nothing else for you to do, so you are free to go and spend the day as you like," Dwenn blew a pillar of smoke from his mouth before pulling the pipe between his lips. His once-injured eye now covered with an eyepatch.
"Have you remembered to take your medicine for today?" you asked.
Dwenn growled, slightly annoyed by the mention of his medicine. "I think I will be fine today without that nasty liquid in my body. I don't want to feel tired all the time," he complained, making you shake your head with a smile. "That medicine has helped you heal from your injuries, and do not forget that I've already allowed you to use your pipe against Eda's strict orders," you said with a scolding tone while handing him the medicine you carried on yourself, in case he forgot or ignored it on purpose.
"Fine..." Dwenn grabbed the vial. He popped off the cork and drank the medicine with one gulp.
Helena walked over to you with a positive attitude. "You're looking better every day, Dwenn," she stated. "Maybe a few more days, and you will be already running around like before," she added.
"I hope so, Helena. Unless I fall asleep and never wake up since I already sleep so much." Dwenn replied with a dramatic tone.
"Rest is good for you. Once you're all better, you can stay awake as long as you want," Helena said, then slipped her hand around your arm.
"Can I rob (Name) for a moment?" Helena asked.
"All the day's work has already been done. She's all yours," Dwenn waved his hand. "Great. Come along," Helena smiled, pulling you away before you could protest.
You two then walked through the village. "What's on your mind today?" you questioned as the woman beside you was more energetic than usual.
"I just need someone to complain to and share certain rumors," Helena grinned.
"I've heard from my father that orcs have been appearing in these parts more frequently, sometimes even in packs," she began. "According to my father, they've been behaving strangely. All he could discern was that the orcs seem to be searching for something," she explained, gaining your interest.
"What could they be looking for?" you asked.
"No one knows yet. All we know is that they are looking for something here. It started happening a month after Aelon and Samuel’s return, along with the well’s water,” Helena answered as your attention drifted toward the forest, the strange feeling from yesterday coming back.
You do not know why, but you have been bothered by the strange sensation since you returned from your trip to the town. It was like a pestering call.
"I have also seen Ennard looking at me strangely again. I hope he's not up to swooning me again, as he likes to call it," Helena said with a tone of annoyance. "When will he understand that I am not interested in him? He's just as old as my father," she added as you continued looking toward the forest.
"I have also heard that Mr.Figwitt's pet turtle has gone missing again. I wonder what's that about," she said as you two arrived at your house. She then notices your absent attention and sees you staring at the forest.
"(Name)! Are you there?!" she waved her hand in front of your eyes, startling you for a moment.
"Sorry..." you quickly uttered as you turned your gaze back on her.
"Is there something bothering you today? You have been rather distracted lately," Helena asked, crossing her arms.
"No! It's just…” you tried to think of a way to explain it. “I've been having this odd feeling since yesterday, like... I have a strange urge to go out and find what is causing that feeling," you described.
"Now, that is interesting. Maybe you should go there and find it," Helena suggested. "I... don't know if I should," you hesitated.
"You're not doing anything for the day. If it's Aelon you're worried about, I could watch him," Helena offered, pointing at herself.
"Okay... alright. Are you sure about this?" you asked, slightly dumbfounded.
"Yes! What's the worst that could happen? Now go!" she pushed you toward the village.
"Okay… I might as well go buy the duck I forgot," you said, turning toward your house, where you could hear Aelon practicing in the backyard.
"Aelon!" you called out.
"Yeah!" his voice called back.
"I'm leaving to get some duck! Helena will watch over you!" You yelled.
"Okay!" Aelon yelled and continued his training.
"Make sure he doesn't get in trouble," you said, glancing at Helena, who only grinned in return. “Yeah, yeah, now go find the source of that mystery feeling,” she added as you walked away.
Aelon practiced hard with his training sword, focusing on his movements and footwork while trying not to let anything distract him. Beads of sweat formed on his skin as he slashed through the air, maintaining controlled and steady breathing.
His ears then picked up someone running around his house.
"Hey, Ae!" Eweniel called out in a hurry. "Rodrick asked us to meet," she exclaimed. "Why? What's wrong?" Aelon asked, stopping in his tracks. "I don't know, but he said it was an emergency. Come on!" she said hastily.
Aelon's eyes widened. He dropped his training sword and followed Eweniel as the two ran around his house.
"Where are you two going?" Helena questioned when she saw them. She was sitting on the porch, doing stitching.
"To see Rodrick. Can I go?" Aelon asked.
"Sure. Just stay in sight of people and stay out of trouble. Your sister won't be happy if you do," Helena pointed at him.
"I will, thanks!" Aelon replied as he ran off with Eweniel. Helena only shook her head with a smile as she continued stitching the cloth in her hands.
The two arrived at the tree, where they usually met to play or plan pranks together. Rodrick, along with Ramuel and Samuel, were waiting there. Rodrick bore a panicked expression, pacing back and forth while fumbling his thumbs—something he did when he was nervous or scared.
"What's the matter? What happened?" Aelon asked as he arrived with Eweniel.
"Thank the Eru! You're here!" Rodrick said with relief. "Okay... umm... have you guys heard about Greeny going missing?" he asked. "Mr. Figwitt's pet?" Ramuel questioned with a confused tone. "Yeah. Greeny— she went missing, and Mr. Figwitt is not happy about it," Rodrick nervously said. "Alright... and why are you so worried about it?" Aelon questioned with a frown.
"I might be responsible... why she's gone missing," Rodrick answered. "And Mr. Figwitt doesn't know it yet," he added, and his friends groaned and yelled in surprise.
"No wonder you called it an emergency. Mr. Figwitt will eat you alive if he finds out you lost his pet turtle," Eweniel remarked.
"I know! I need your help to find her!" Rodrick said, flinging his arms like a panicked bird.
Aelon and his friends remained quiet, thinking about the situation. Personally, Aelon would stay away from Greeny since the little monstrosity had bitten him since the first time he saw it, but he did not want to leave his friend at the mercy of Figwitt, who was known to dislike children. He was a grumpy old man, who looked closest to a feral goblin if Aelon ever came to see one. And the only thing that ever made him happy was his pet turtle, who was just as mean as him.
"Okay... I help you," Aelon sighed, dropping his shoulders.
"Really? Oh, thank you, Aelon! You are a real friend!" Rodrick cried tears of joy.
"Whoa, you're brave! I thought you were scared of Greeny?" Eweniel grinned. " I am, but I am more afraid of Figwitt, and it would be pretty cruel to leave Rodrick under his mercy," Aelon said.
"Alright. I guess I'll help too," Eweniel said.
"We would help too, but..." Samuel hesitated, glancing nervously at Ramuel.
"Our parents said we need an adult if we want to go anywhere," Ramuel explained, looking at the ground.
"But then they would probably tell Figwitt if they knew I lost Greeny," Rodrick said fearfully.
An idea then popped into Aelon’s head: a possible solution.
"We could ask Helena. She's supposed to watch me and she likes keeping secrets," he suggested. "Okay. She should be fine," the twins said.
"Alright, let's go," Eweniel declared as the group left their meeting place to find the missing turtle.
After leaving the village and traveling some distance, your horse whined as you came to a stop.
You stared at the forest on the spot where you first started feeling the strange sensation to follow and find. The mysterious pull of the forest intensified, its call growing stronger the longer you fixed your gaze upon the wooded expanse. The enchanting allure beckoned you with an irresistible potency, tugging at the threads of your curiosity.
Climbing down from your horse, you secured the reins to the nearest tree, ensuring your companion would wait patiently behind while you went to investigate the forest.
As you wandered deeper into the forest, the strange pulling tugged you toward the direction it wanted you to go.
You arrived at a rugged stone hill. As the pulling told you to climb,  you cautiously stepped over the rocks, ascending higher till you began to hear scratching and chirping sounds, piquing your curiosity.
As you scale the uneven rocks, the source of the commotion becomes clear as your eyes fall upon a large nest. Your eyes widen in a mixture of shock, surprise, and excitement. "Oh, hello—" you begin to say as the small eyes focus on you.

Luz hummed as she entered the living room of the Owl House, carrying some potions that Eda had asked her to bring up from the lab. King was sitting on the couch, clutching Francois tightly. Luz frowned, putting the box down.
“King? Are you okay?” She asked. He looked up, eyes wide before he shrugged.
“I guess…” he said softly. Liz walked over to sit beside him, putting her arm around the demon.
“Come on hermano, tell me what’s wrong,” she coaxed. King clutched his toy tighter.
“I… do you ever feel like somethings wrong?” He asked her softly. “Like some pieces don’t quite fit? Or like weird dreams?”
“Well… with the portal destroyed I do feel like I don’t fit,” Luz admitted. “As for weird dreams… we’ll I keep dreaming of this strange place filled with glowing cubes floating. Of water I’m walking in…” Luz hummed thoughtfully as she thought about it. There was also someone in the dreams with her. A tall person who kind of looked like King, though she wouldn’t tell him that. He’d get his hopes up. “There’s someone in there. They tell me that… I need to wake up. That something…” something was wrong.
“A place of water… what else do you remember?” King asked. He sounded eager, and Luz smiled at the little demon who’d become her brother.
“Oh I dunno. A few weird scenes playing out but why would Mama Eda and Op’a act like that? All distant and weird?” Luz laughed but…
The scene came to mind. Of Eda speaking to a sphere and Op’a acting strange… of-
“Mija!” Luz lost her train of thought, looking to the door.
(She didn’t notice King’s disappointment or his hissed breath.)
Camila came through the door with a smile on her face and a small yellow and blue skinned child following. “Collie fixed the portal!” Liz gasped and jumped up, hugging her Mami.
“That’s great Mami!” She said happily before turning to the Collector, or Collie as they called them. She opened her arms and the little cosmic being ran to hug her.
“Yes!” Camila said. “It’ll be good to get back home and check on Vee.” She said with a sigh. Both humans paused.
Vee? Who was Vee? She was… she was…
Luz looked through the reflection to see a stranger with her Mami, one wearing the girl’s face.
Camila looked at her daughter who was acting a little off but the rumours of the camp she’d heard now…
“Oops.” Collie said. “Sorry! Forgot to add her!”
“Add-“ Luz began before blinking.
Mami and Papi bringing home a little snake girl with a chain on her tail. The girl becoming another Luz. The two together and playing…
“Shit! Vee!” Luz said. “My twin! Oh she’s gonna be so worried!”
How could she forget about the Basilisk child? The one who’d escaped to the human realm and who’d been so scared! Oh man they were idiots how could she forget?!
(Luz didn’t notice the horrified look on King’s face or the gleam in the Collector’s eyes. She didn’t notice the being in a mirror trying to get her attention.
She didn’t notice any of it.)

Aaaand someone I forgot to factor into King and Odalia’s dynamic as the only non-puppets is Terra, since we know she’s been around. Granted, we don’t know when she joined, if she was on the run and eventually got caught not too long ago, but presumably all of the Coven Heads were wrapped up at once. Did Odalia, Terra, and/or King ever really get to interact with each other on their own, away from the Collector? With King obviously apprehensive but not condemning enough to demand she be puppeted (even defending Terra after the fact, though that may have been solely for fostering the Collector’s maturity), since we saw how he heard from Eda firsthand how Terra terrorized his mom and her crush?
Did Terra, who reminisced on how good of a mom she’d be, also worm her way into the Collector’s graces by appealing to their desire for a mother figure, intentionally or by accident? Did Odalia and Terra scheme together, or did Terra see Odalia as a rival to throw under the bus for the approval of her master, like she did with the other Coven Heads while vying for Belos’ favor?
Were Odalia and Terra even noteworthy for avoiding becoming puppets, arranging a messed-up ‘deal’ with the Collector where they maintained consciousness? Or did the Collector start off with many servants, but one after the other, each eventually messed up and was turned into a puppet, until there were only three? And now two… And technically three again, if you count Belos?
But once more two, since the Collector seems prepared to reject King, but we don’t what exactly they have planned, if it’s for him to become a puppet, or be strong-armed into having the Collector as his only friend, but as himself? Given the Collector obviously values King’s agency, considering it meaningful for King to choose to give Francois to them (rather than simply forcing it), if they wanted to force King to be their friend again, they might just cut out the middle-man and turn him into a full-on toy to avoid betrayal. That, or be much more possessive and controlling this time.

It's been so long since you last saw your friends and was forced to hide away from The Collector.
If you were a human then it'd be a miracle that you were still alive all by yourself.
"Y/N! King!" Luz cried You were running towards the door that leads to the human realm, you were almost there but before you knew it the door slammed shut leaving you with The Child of Stars "Luz! Belos-!" slam.
You have no idea how you ran away from them. You forgot.
While hiding away from the most chaotic child you've ever seen you also practiced your glyph magic and make new combos
If you were a witch you also made combos and got random old grimoires, textbooks, and notebooks near the Hexsides area and study their contents
Maybe find a location where there's a stash of Titan blood and rebuild a door somehow?
Whilst practicing your skills in an open area you felt a breeze from behind, you thought it was just wind from a spell you were practicing but when you turned around it was a portal, you quickly hid from the nearest tree and you couldn't believe it. It was Belos. I thought Collector killed him?? You thought.
You walked towards the portal and observed, it looked exactly like the portal to get to the human realm and you remembered,
"Luz Belos is-!" slam
No, no, no, no, no, ,no.
"Belos! Some of his parts dropped on Hunter's shoulder!" You opened the door and it didn't have its portal. The Collector giggled from behind, "too slow!"
Which means, if Belos got out of that portal alive then your friends are there!..hopefully alive like him.
You went through the portal, your rubbed your eyes to adjust from the light inside. Not long enough you felt a cool breeze, you looked up at the sky, then to your feet, it was an autumn leaf a crunchy one infact 😩
"Y/N?" You heard a familiar voice, "Luz?", you saw her and the whole group. They look just as messed up as when they left you.
What concerned you more was Hunter, He looked worse. "Hunter?" You felt your voice crack. Almost immediately he stood up from the ground, trying to run towards you.
You sprinted and embraced him, lifting him in the air. You and Hunter were sobbing but also laughing. Everything felt like a dream, it was all too much You felt your knees weaken and you lost your balance, making you fall on top of him, you apologized sitting up.
(I hope y'all can see what I'm seeing/writing 😭)
(@tokosparrow giggles this is the part I hope you like it )
"I can't believe it! It's you!" You held his face while failing in trying NOT to cry. His old scar was larger than the one he had before, "what happened? Where's Flapjack?" he avoided eye contact, "I'm sorry" he breathed out. "I messed up."
You were confused, you thought Belos did this. Why is Hunter apologizing?
He told you everything in a quick summary, You placed an arm behind his back rubbing circles. "Hey, Belos possessing you is not your fault." you looked behind you to see everyone, "I've got a few ideas." Hunter looked at you with curiosity, "huh?"
"First idea, Everyone! Group hug Hunter!" and in a blink of an eye everyone was around Hunter
You all let go of him after he felt a but better, "next idea is to save Eda and everyone else!" Amity looked at you as if it was a dumb idea, "Wait, you aren't with Eda and the others?"
"How did you escape The Collector?!"
"Nope! Been living in some dump for months."
"THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING I FORGOT"
"HOW-"
