#I don't know. There are really so many facets to this meme and they are all conceptually hilarious yes xD
Text
I love the Goncharov meme conceptually. It feels like classic academia perhaps, definitely like studying ancient philosophy at times. You get a fragment (knockoff boots), a general context (Martin Scorsese films existing), and then a very long discussion about nothing starts. But the nothingness isn't entirely nothing, and there are still limits to what can and cannot be said framed by both the existence and non-existence of that which is being discussed. Hilarious, truly, and the fact itself so very interesting to analyse in so many ways.
#This feels a bit like studying and discussing presocratics or Socrate himself xD#ngl while I loved the boots thing (I had often thought about those knockoff boots‚ I found them hilarious)#I don't find the Goncharov memes particularly funny#But the concept is fascinating conceptually and thrilling to analyse in so many levels#The fact that almost every webwaving‚ even the ones about a fake film‚ have the same quotes#That basically everything said about this film is what is said about any other popular media#Is so interesting as how short media analysis falls into superficiality and miopic repetition of patterns#As is the fact that we can discuss to eternity something that doesn't exist#in a sort of Narcissus looking at his reflection on the pond situation‚ in love with our own discussion more than the thing itself#And that's a level. But it's also very interesting in how basically everyone has a very similar idea of what the film is about#How nothingness with sprinkles can tell us something‚ a lot‚ and make a ghost of a film which can effectively to some extent be analysed#It's also hilarious in how it puts a mirror‚ so to speak‚ in front of so many academic studies#How we've basically been doing this for centuries unironically and I'd say with at least a certain sense of self awareness#How this brings back studying and discussing the lost texts of Ovid or Sappho based just on what they say about them or the absence#in what they say about them‚ or what other authors say about them or how their works are wrapped around those lost texts#How it brings back the study and analysis of presocratics like Pythagoras or even Socrate himself of which we have Plato and Xenophon#but really something close to nothing considering how important those authors are as basis of the entire history of western philosophy#And yet there's honestly so much to say about them given the nothingness we have accompanied by the something!#And Goncharov memes work a bit that way#I don't know. There are really so many facets to this meme and they are all conceptually hilarious yes xD#Another but not less important aspect of this meme that I love conceptually is that#I'm a bit fan of funny lies. I adore them. Especially when constructed between several people#And Goncharov is precisely that lol#Goncharov#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#Meme shit

to beat on old drum, why should translation always be to a 'default'/'neutral', relatively formal version of a language? well you could make arguments from accessibility, injecting things that 'aren't there in the original' (or 'writing fanfic' as an angry nyaa commenter might put it), or losing nuances from the source.
but tranlsation is never going to be able to capture every nuance of the source, it's always a tradeoff. you can try to sound idiomatic in the target language, you can risk sounding plain or go for more approximate but lively expressions, or conversely you can go for something that doesn't sound like something a native speaker would write but develops a particular 'work in translation' cadence ("it can't be helped") which is worthwhile in its own right. you can even laboriously explain every missing nuance. there's no need to be dogmatic either - you can adopt a blend of strategies depending on what you think is most important.
the idea of a single 'correct' translation is an illusion. a translation is a new work designed to communicate as much as it can about the original. and if you don't have enough facility in the original language to follow along, the next-best thing is to have multiple translations that capture different facets according to what's picked up by different translators. and if you do know enough of the source language to pick up on an especially creative translation, that's a delightful thing.
this seems to be well understood in like, classics or philosophy, where it's reasonably common to produce new translations of a work. in translating modern media like anime... less so. I feel like it's a huge shame that original fansubs are made much less often today, and that so many arguments about translation seem to assume there must be one strict orthodoxy about the right way to translate. broadly speaking that orthodoxy has shifted - today the handful of still-active fansub groups like Good Job Media look with derision at the 't/n: keikaku means plan' past, and heavily prefer idiomatic translations.
is it ever 'necessary' to include honorifics when translating Japanese? probably not, you can probably find circumlocutions when they matter (e.g. have the characters argue about using titles). is that the 'best' way to translate? depends on your audience and what you want to communicate to them.
Tumblr media
for example, in English, there's not really a 'thing you routinely say you routinely say before eating' as there is in many other languages. if we do say something before eating together, we'd probably use a loanword like bon appetit, but that would be rare and probably come across as a bit pretentious. in Japanese by contrast, people say いただきます itadakimasu as a standard ritual before-eating phrase. translators come up with all sorts of substitutions to try and find a substitute that sounds natural in English, potentially breaking the 'translate line by line' convention to insert something from elsewhere in the scene in the subtitle for itadakimasu.
and like, my feeling (from the stance of 'Japanese learner who watches a lot of anime') would be that if I knew most of my viewers would know at least that little bit of Japanese (and if they're downloading it from a fansubbing site, they probably do), I would just leave it untranslated. but leaving はい untranslated as in the above meme would be silly, because a good translation is simple and obvious (though 'yes' is not always a correct translation for はい!). however, I appreciate that there are various takes on this. it's fun to see the different ways people will translate いただきます! it becomes like a game. (the scene in Your Name where a bodyswapped character has to figure out the right personal pronoun is another fun one.)
so in this frame, I think translation targeting specific accents and dialects is really cool, because it can draw out all sorts of fascinating parallels. for example, the sentence ending particle ね is kind of like ', right?' - indicating that you think the speaker already knows what you're saying and you're looking for agreement/confirmation. it's a very common particle in Japanese, and it has a bit of a feminine connotation. how does that compare to the british slang 'innit'? or indeed the Singaporean 'lah'? you'd probably figure out a bunch about Japanese, British English and Singlish by thinking through when it would make sense to translate ね as 'innit', and likewise for 'lah'!

Maknae Line Sipping Things, Pt. 1
Tumblr media
Maybe it's tea but more likely it's gonna hit and make us dizzy, knowing these guys. Because it's always something with them, isn't it?
WAIT BEFORE I GO ANY FURTHER PLEASE TO READ THE DISCLAIMER
Tumblr media
ARMY is many things to "our boys" - who, by the way, have not been "boys" for nearly a decade, now. Can we just normalize letting grown ass men be, IDK, GROWN ASS MEN?
They DO LOVE US. More than we realize. We are their validation. We are their audience, their personal search engine, their friends in a weird kind of two-sided parasocial relationship (which I guess makes it nearly a social relationship). But we are also their paychecks.
Tumblr media
BTS is at a point where none of them need to work. Ever. They could fuck off to Bora Borahae (don't get me started) and spend lavishly for the rest of their days and still leave an enormous inheritance to their pets. They're fine, financially, in a way that most of us will never be. It's a heady experience, I'm told, having fuck-you money, and they have that. And yet they continue to work.
They continue to move their lives within a very tight, very enclosed but entirely too visible bubble. They always will, because their level of fame is that, now. Their lives don't really belong to them - they belong to us. Which is a heavy and often uncomfortable reality for them. So that's my angle going into the whole What The Fuck Is Up With The Maknae Line thing. They are in an unhealthy relationship - with ARMY - and it's changed who they are to each other, over time.
Tumblr media
To be fair it's not ARMY's fault, either. If we must lay blame somewhere throw it on the idol system, maybe. They were assigned their roles in the beginning and SO WAS ARMY. It goes both ways.
The hyungs handle it better, overall. They were a few very crucial years older. They were given more responsibility and less, I think, insecurity. Don't get me started on neurodivergency. Or gayness. I'LL PONTIFICATE, IT WILL TURN INTO A DAMN FILIBUSTER, LET'S JUST NOT OKAY.
"But we LOVE THEM," I hear you cry. How can our love be unhealthy? Oh let me count the ways.
Tumblr media
I LOVE a good fansite photographer. And Black & White is the best of the best - supportive, great shots, excellent with boundaries. See that? Jungkook recognized and was not upset to see them - because he sees them. A LOT. Here's Jimin taking notice:
Tumblr media
He ain't mad. But cameras are as normal to BTS as breathing. Kinda like stylists. They get so used to having them there they don't quite seem real without them. To us, certainly, but maybe also to themselves. And as we've been let in to (almost) every facet of their lives we've become a little entitled. We think we know them - and in many ways we do. We see them cry, laugh, snort, fart, snore, sneeze and cough. We've even managed to be privy to inconvenient wood and bathtub photos - usually dressed, but Namjoon is not here today. "They're so relatable", we sigh. "How are they even real," we swoon. And yet we know they are, because we see them like this:
Tumblr media
Little derpcakes, all of 'em. And we go "must protect!"
We protecc, we attacc, we give a boy a snacc, we make up memes about it and feel a little superior to all those fans who don't protect their idols - as well we should, we're the bomb. THE BANGTAN BOMB BITCHES.
Tumblr media
And in so doing we have "protected" the maknae line right into eternal teenhood.
I've done it myself. Ask me how old Park Jimin is and I am as likely as not to tell you he's 24. (He's about to turn 27 international. At the end of the year he turns 29, Korean age.)
Again, much of this is marketing and is done deliberately because teen girls spend money. They also write fanfiction, draw and paint fan art, and attend concerts. And some of the fics are amazing, most are porn-adjacent or straight (gayyyy) erotica. Ditto a chunk of the art. But keep in mind that minors produce and consume all manner of media. A Minors DNI warning might as well be a neon sign. And fiction and depiction are SAFE ways for ARMY to explore their own and other sexualities. Put a pretty boy naked in a high school locker room with a tattooed, musclebound alpha quarterback and the metaphorical or literal jizz flings itself into the stratosphere. BUT LORD HELP A GROWN ASS ADULT MAN THAT ACTUALLY GETS A GIRLFRIEND.
Tumblr media
Or boyfriend.
Tumblr media
Stay tuned for the rest of this mess, probably.

Author's notes for Sick aka I ramble about my complex Disability Feelings
When you're sick, especially given the dominance of the medical model of disability, it's easy to view your body as a separate adversary, and this scenario takes it to the extreme of completely removing yourself from your body. I've talked before on this blog about my complicated feelings on magic disability cures - I don't like them in fiction; I'd like one myself in real life - and this is me contemplating 'what if'?
I do not like being sick. It is painful, time-consuming, expensive, and frequently embarrassing. I wish it had not happened to me. But being disabled is now a major part of my identity and experience - it's probably the first label I would list when thinking about the different facets that impact my life. Being disabled has made me more aware of disability justice issues and changed the way I relate to and rely on other people. In some ways that sucks - it's progressively taken over what I eat, where I work, where I live (which I also take to the extreme in this story with ambiguously literal possession) - but in other ways, I think the disability community often has a much better worldview than mainstream America. I'm glad I've become more aware of some of those perspectives and issues. And because disability has shaped so much of my life for the past... six? years, for good and for ill, it's hard for me to conceive of what my life would be like without it. How would I think about myself? What would I do? This is my new normal, like it or not. I don't remember what it's like to make a fist painlessly.
An added wrinkle is that autoimmunity is my body Trying Its Best. I make a lot of jokes about my body trying to kill me because that's how it shakes out (please, little guys in my blood, stop eating my bones) but autoimmunity is a trauma response. My body got clobbered by so many outside poisons that it can't recognize what a real threat is anymore. It's trying to protect me and doing a terrible job. It's another place where you can look at your body as an external adversary versus a system that your mind is also a part of. But also no matter how you look at it, I am still sick.
There's also some stuff in the piece about the helplessness that comes from being sick which (surprise!) I also have mixed feelings about. Because it sucks not having control over your body! I want to be supervising that shit. But also... I don't know how common this is, but there is a weird kind of comfort in being tucked in bed with someone else taking care of me. I even find going into surgery oddly relaxing because for a while my life will be someone else's problem.
At the same time I also worry that I'm using disability as an excuse. Am I begging off attending something because I really am tired or worried about exposure/overwork or do I just not want to go?
Finally we have Aro Angst because that's always on my mind. And it's extra on my mind in the context of disability because what if I get to the point where I can't take care of myself anymore? I don't have a romantic partner to help me or to provide health insurance if I can't work. I live near my parents and have passed up job opportunities that would take me further away. Most specifically for this story, even I find myself sometimes falling into the trap of assuming the ultimate endstate of closeness/intimacy would be romantic/sexual bc of cultural conditioning. It's annoying! So the character (Dani, I named her Danielle in a reference to the Daniel/the cooler Daniel meme) is still seeking the community, care, and closeness she experienced as part of the disabled community, and the messier weirder intimacy of feeling connected to her own body, but she's struggling with interpreting that through cultural norms of amatonormativity. Sometimes 'I want to be inside you/I want you inside me' is, shockingly, not a sex thing. Hence, toxic nonhorny clone makeouts. I guess???
Side note: I've mentioned this wrt pieces I've written with aromanticism that follow a similar pattern of taking something I am at least not too consciously dramatic about and making the MC a pathetic wet cat about it. I guess they are serving the purpose of Everyman in a medieval morality play here. They are crash test dummies I am flinging at walls to count the cracks. Not great character writing but that's not what this is about rn.

so i work in a well-known library, right, as a part-timer, and it's been great working with the books, they're real friendly and everything. but this is a very exclusive library, right, you have to send in an application and maybe get interviewed to get in because we're dealing with really old archival material here; i've had to dust crumbled paper off of desks and some of the spines of these hundreds-of-years-old books have been replaced with electric tape with their titles rewritten with wite-out from how much the spines have fallen out. i look up and see dead white men glaring down at me from murals and paintings and busts from the ceiling, probably aghast and wondering how a fucking little island girl is handing their precious books and poking at their dutch-painted glass windows with her grimy brown fingers. this is just set-dressing, so you really know where i'm coming from.
anyways, you know those memes that go around writing communities? doesn't matter if you write fics or manuscripts, we've all seen them, liked them, reblogged them.
"writing a slash fic instead of writing i've been googling what jewelry young german women wore in the 1700s"
"i'm pretty sure i'm on the fbi and interpol hitlists because of my search history"
"story prompt: overly helpful serial killer sweetheart x clueless crime fiction writer"
"when you don't know long division but you can talk about the taxation laws in victorian england because you needed to find out how taxes work to make your story believable"
they're memes that make you chuckle, guffaw, and nod because they're relatable! everyone hates the idea of being corrected by a random poindexter who can call you out on your bullshit on victorian tax laws, you uncultured fool, or who happens to know how blood sprays look if you shoot a person a certain way, you gormless coward, not because they were shooting the gun but they were part of the forensics team, pinky promise, i wasn't there on the 15th of november. and it's a bit absurd. like, who exactly knows - or cares - about victorian tax laws? does it really matter to write about reality in all its facets into fiction? majority of your readers probably aren't vampires or other extant immortals so does it really matter if you don't hold history up as accurately as possible in your 30k friends-to-enemies-to-lovers dark academia yuri slashfic? does historical accuracy matter when you're writing about samurais in the heian period in modern english with modern sensibilities? who would even know what stuff was really like back then? some things aren't googlable, and you can't always trust google anyways.
i don't know the answer to all these questions. but i know the answer to one.
so, back to the library.
one day, i'm shelving history books one after the other, listening to an audiobook from a public library using a library card of which i faked my address for me to use. reparations. and way more ethical than piracy in my eyes. support authors, patronize libraries, and all that. when i shelve books, i like to wonder about who reads them and why. what research they're doing. what they're doing here. whether they know how lucky they are. i envy this library where i work. i envy the people who live in this town. i envy the readers. they have all of this because someone recognized the value of hoarding, the value of taking and tabulating and preserving. one could argue it's the colonial way. but enough of that, i'm shelving books, books that i sometimes wonder at, because i never could have imagined so many books on so many topics, and sometimes they are topics that are so trivial and-
and i'm holding, in my hands, a book about the jewelry young german women wore in the 1700s.
being in a university town, you come to understand that academics have their pet projects; the drive to understand the minutiae of their field, of humanity, of nature. think of a topic and there's probably a dissertation for that. you also understand there is a lot of publishing politics, that researchers' papers are paywalled behind exorbitant fees for which they receive no royalties from. you also understand that academia can also be elitist, even when the people inside it call for open access.
to other people, i'm sure i sound incoherent and raving. but i'm sure that there are people out there who understood why i took several moments staring at this book, recalling all those fucking memes about historical accuracy, of people joking that they're looking for things even the internet has no answer for. because the answers do exist. someone's written about them. someone took the time to look at and tabulate and write about german jewelry. someone else, tax laws. some other person, blood sprays, either through study or applied experimentation. the knowledge is out there. they just aren't available to you.

I think there are two of us here that are new askers but also have been asking a lot. Probably both got into the manga recently because of the anime. But just goes to show how good your posts are and how much we love your insight on a character like Chilchuck. I don't know how he became my favorite character, but I love the depth and flaws and facets of the characters.
Also you're probably one of the few people who ship Marchil and their dynamic is so underrated I think.
Haha that’s so fun actually, piecing out which asker is which like we’re in a detective novel and the web keeps getting new layers. Thank you so much! I can get self-conscious sometimes so it is really nice to hear that some people appreciate my posts. All characters in Dungeon Meshi have so much potential to be analyzed but yeahhh yeah Chilchuck is just special 🫶 He creeped up on me as my fave as well but I shouldn’t have been surprised haha. He has layers, like an onion!
Aah glad to hear you like marchil as well!! Yesss it really is so underrated, especially with just how much they interact and the fun chemistry they have, alongside the character growth they get through each other. Like, y’know that meme collage I did for Chilchuck recently, for funsies I wanted to see what expression was caused by who and boy the results may or may not surprise you! Click on keep reading for more, not clickbait!! ✨👇 They are my OTP for realssss they mean everything to me- They’re actually what got me into dunmeshi too, I saw some shippy art for them years ago and found their banter cute and so when I saw the manga at my bookstore I was like oh yes, I know these blorbo shaped guys!! I’m trying to spread the good word for the ship, and I’ve successfully gotten some people interested and/or invested in it thus far so hehe I feel quite accomplished. I’m a multishipper and I like quite a few dunmeshi ships, many being with Marcille because she bounces off of other characters in really fun ways, but none get me quite like marchil… It’s the opposites attract, the banter, the softness, the thematic relevance, the narratives… No bc the way she has to accept that time is counted no matter what and loss is inevitable, meanwhile he has to learn to not shut himself off from others and to have some hope… They are narratively soo complementary AND THAT IS WHY in the anime opening their pose in the mural shots mirror each other so strikingly, hello in this essay I will-
Ok so some of these are more debatable than others, for example shriveled up Chil after the succubus in the laughing section could be blissed out instead of still laughing at Marcille’s bad taste, and in the upper right corner the sitting Chils are reacting to Marcille’s dream dalclan fanfiction and not to her exactly, but close enough. Besides how he always teases her so much this is why I say Marcille makes him laugh (and blush) the most. He loves laughing at her so much 🧍So romantic /j They are so romcom shaped to me I’m sorry

Realm of the Elderlings Ask Meme Thing
I was tagged by @tragediegh , thanks!! 💙💙💙
Favorite Rote Book: Assassin's Quest and Fool's Errand
Why: I love Assassin's Quest because there's a lot of my favorite parts in the whole saga in it: Fitz and the Fool in Jhaampe, Kettle (who's a character that I love a lot), the stone dragons... It's very epic and I love it.
On the contrary, I love how Fool's Errand is mundane and domestic, especially in the beginning. Once again, Fitz and the Fool in the cabin is one of my favorite moments in the whole series. I also love the persona of Lord Golden.
Top Three Favorite Characters: The Fool, of course (I speak so much of him that pretty much all my friends know him, even if they've never read the books!). Kettricken is another character that I love a lot. And Umbre, even if he's morally grey, but that's why I like him! I also love Nighteyes and Lady Patience a lot, but we're supposed to only say three characters.
Top Three Least Favorite Characters: Galen, Hest and Dwalia
Favorite Ship (of the floating kind): Paragon. I love his character development and his relationshp with Amber is beautiful.
Top Three Favorite Ships (of the people kind): Fitz/the Fool (Fitzloved), Lacey/Patience and Burrich/Chivalry.
Would you rather be Witted or Skilled? Skilled, to understand people better and to reach out with my friends who live far away
If you were Witted, what animal would you bond with? A dog or a wolf, like Fitz
Would you rather live in the Outislands, the Mountain Kingdom, the Six Duchies, Bingtown, The Rain Wilds, Kelsingra, Jamaillia, The Pirate Isles, or the Fool's Homeland? Kelsingra or Mercenia (the Fool's Homeland)
How were you introduced to the books? When I was a scout, one of my chiefs was really into these books and she advised me to read them. I was ~15 and I didn't know it would change my life. I went to the library and borrowed them. And now, here I am!
Share a quote you love: There's so many of them!
"‘I am not the person I was born. Neither are you. I know no one who is. Truly, Fitz, all we ever know are facets of one another. Perhaps we feel as if we know one another well when we know several facets of that person. Father, son, brother, friend, lover, husband… a man can be all of those things, yet no one person knows him in all those roles." (The Fool, Fool's Fate)
"He is not my lover. He is far more than that to me, far more precious." (The Fool, Fool's Fate)
‘Why can’t people love one another and still remain free?’ (...)
‘One can love that way,’ she conceded regretfully. ‘But the price on that kind of love may be the highest of all.’ She strung her words together as carefully as she strung her beads. ‘To love another person like that, you have to admit that his life is as important as yours. Harder still, you have to admit to yourself that perhaps he has needs you cannot fill, and that you have tasks that will take you far away from him. It costs loneliness and longing and doubt and –’
‘Why must love cost anything? Why does need have to be mixed up with love? Why can’t people be like butterflies, coming together in bright sunshine and parting while the day is still bright?’
‘Because they are people, not butterflies.’
(Althea and Amber, Mad Ship)
It was the old naming magic : if I know how you are truly named, I have power over you. If I tell you my name, I grant you that power. (Fool’s Errand)
And the iconic:
Wolves have no kings. (Assassin's Quest)
And I'm tagging: @chonaku-things , @blackandwhitemotley , @elderling-magic , @electropeach , @madou-dilou , @whatevsbla and whoever loves Robin Hobb and feels like doing this ask meme! And no pressure if you don't want to do it, consider it's just me saying hello ✨

There are many strengths that you have in general when it comes to writing, but I think your strongest one would be that you have an undaunting spirit. To explain what I mean by this, I think there are different facets in which this can be seen, whether it’s the fact that you rp in a language that isn’t your mother tongue because you want to write more and connect with even more people, or even the fact that you put an incredible amount of energy and creativity into forging the female portrayals of Tsuna and Squalo.
I’ve seen a lot of people simply go down the ‘everything about the character is the same, but they are trans, and therefore are a [insert gender here]. I don’t often see people anymore directly state that their portrayal is such that the muse was born a different gender and you’ve catered their past to create a character who is like the original, but also different enough to be discernable from the original. The fact that this is the muse and not a AU that some people will request for, it shows that you’re and adventurous soul and one that truly just wants to have fun and not pay much attention to if others will have anything negative to say about your choices.
It was also recently seen in the talk that we had on discord a bit ago. We’re similar in ways that we won’t be stopped and we won’t allow sad things to keep us down. People may hurt us, but we’ll trek through it anyways and continue to do what makes us happy and what we think works.
Perhaps this doesn’t really make sense, but in the simplest of terms, you’ve got a lot of courage. You’re brave to venture into trying interesting things, and aren’t afraid to reach out to new people and try new interactions. You’re sociable and friendly. In RPC, that’s a very good quality to have. ((OOC: Greatest strength meme btw if it wasn’t clear))
Tumblr media
What do you think is my biggest strenght as roleplayer
I do not know what to say. Your words motivate and encourage me to continue doing what I am doing. I respect you very much, and I'm glad we met. I don't want this to sound like a speech for winning some award, but every kind word is like I won some kind of award.
I know I'm not perfect. I know I need to work on many things related to this account. Whether it's my English, handling technical things, completing a account and content side (bio, verses etc.), and the aesthetic side.
I like different things and like to try different things, and this can probably be seen in my portrayal. Yes, it is an adventure in a way. Since I also work in the field of language and literature in the real world, roleplaying is my love. I'm actually an introvert, but here, the interaction comes naturally to me because I'm in my element.
However, I am very glad that you see what I see in my interpretation of the character. What I am trying to say and achieve with her. I also encounter negative opinions and misunderstandings, so I'm all the more happy with kind words and, of course, constructive criticism, whether it's good or suggesting what I should improve.
One big thank you. ♥

NAME?: Mal
PRONOUNS?: They / them
MOST ACTIVE MUSE(S)?: Stolas, Husk, Lucifer, Echo
RP PET PEEVES?: People trying to control what other people do on their own blogs. Setting your own boundaries is fine, but expecting literally everyone to constantly cater to you while you don't also curate your own space rubs me a bit the wrong way. (This is not in regards to, like, accessibility, but "I don't like smut, so therefore no one around me should write it at all, even if it's properly tagged and can be blocked.")
EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS?: Oh my god, um. 11 years on tumblr, but I actually started with pen and paper before I fully even know what roleplay WAS.....so, my GOD, probably, like....21 years ago? That's insane, wow.
EXPERIENCE?: Pen and paper, proboards, jcink, invisionfree, livejournal, tumblr (obviously). I was a mod on a lot of different forums before I came over here.
FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: Yes! All of the above! I love all of them for different reasons, to be quite honest; they all allow me to explore so many different facets of characters, especially in this fandom, tbh. I used to be super embarrassed about writing smut (there was a whole THING about that that's its whole own post really), but I'm a lot more chill now. Though I am still an awkward demi bean. ^^
PLOTS OR MEMES?: Memes are great for getting things started! I'm definitely down for plotting too, especially throwing ideas back and forth and world-building together, but I definitely get wanting to just jump write in and start exploring right away.
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: Oh man, I am a chronic long-replier. I tend to get stuck in internal monologue and end up just going OFF, especially if I'm particularly feral at that moment in time. I try to write short things, but they usually become long, and for that I apologize.
TIME TO WRITE?: Usually in the evenings, after work. Though on weekends I become a night owl and end up staying up until ungodly hours because I get motivated instead of sleeping.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S)?: HA, I was just talking to Missa about this, about how I, an awkward person on the ace spectrum, am playing several characters with robust, kinky sex lives, and I'm just like "my god, I hope I'm writing this well because I do not know what I'm doing." I definitely feel like there are aspects of each of my muses that I connect with: for Stolas, we share a lot of similar-ish family trauma, there's the depression, the anxiety, the longing to be loved; Husk -- being prickly to keep people from getting close because if people get to close then you care too much and can get hurt; Charlie -- the desire to believe that people are good and can change for the better (along with rampant untreated ADHD); Lucifer -- depression and a jaded outlook on life, plus a boatload of religious trauma / daddy issues......you get the picture.

“HOW DOES MOBILE APPS BECOME PART OF MY DAILY LIFE?”
Tumblr media
Given that we currently live in the modern era. Anyone has access to the internet through their smartphones, which are truly important to people's everyday tasks nowadays. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, including education, online businesses, and many other things, where it can be applied as fundamental information to many facets of life.
I can't deny that I still have many things to learn about the course I have been chosen for, even if I decided to pursue a degree in information and communications technology and become a teacher soon. Although it may be difficult to evolve, I hope to see an exciting future, five years or ten years from now on. My aim is to provide important information to my incoming students regarding the significance of using mobile apps and the possible advantages as well as disadvantages that may occur for them.
And now for the very interesting part. I created this blog because I was interested to discuss some of mobile apps that I use the most and provide honest feedback based on my experience dealing those apps carefully and using them in the right manner. Let us start and see! 😁👀
Here's the list of my TOP 10 MOBILE APPS THAT I AM USING IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE:
1. Facebook
2. Google
3. Messenger
4. YouTube
5. Spotify
6. Microsoft Office
7. Canva
8. Google Chrome
9. MVLE Mobile
10. Google Classroom
Facebook is the leading app I am using everyday. Why? Because, I discovered that I could socialize with people using this app in many ways other than face-to-face interactions, such as reacting and commenting to their posts, sharing memes that I saw on newsfeeds and could apply to my real-life status, joining various group pages to share my knowledge, selling things that can generate a profit and starting a business, and a ton of other freely made things.
Google comes in second. This app is already available on all cellphones that you could purchase. However, when it comes to complete my schoolwork and other assignments on time, that's when it becomes resourcefulness for me. I should not really 100% trusted this app, because, there are some things aren't true to know or can be lead into “misinformation” like in the website of Wikipedia. That's why, sometimes, I love to do my self-tasks alone.
The Messenger, the third one. It was an app that linked to Facebook, making it simpler to send messages to people you knew. I have been using this to connect with my teacher and classmates ever since the pandemic. It can't be access whenever I'm offline but, there's another variant of this app which is called, “Messenger Lite” that even basic mode can still access. Unlike the regular version, I guess.
The next one is YouTube. Through this app, I can watch the daily news that I couldn't watch on TV, to gather an additional information about the lessons in school I think it's hard to be understood, have a good time to watch those missed music videos that came from my favorite artists and so much more things to do.
For the fifth place, Spotify is always there at my phone to save me every time. When I listen to songs out there, it makes me heal from everything I pissed off. But, unfortunately, data or Wi-Fi is needed for this app. That's why sometimes, I listen to my download songs playlist. Whenever I don't have an internet to be used it. This kind of music streams is the best app that I had in my whole life and also, you can subscribe for its premium version (just optional only, if you want to remove ads while having a sound trip alone or with your family everywhere, especially, at home).
The two apps next to Spotify are named, “Microsoft Office 365” and “Canva.” Both are eligible to be used and finished on time, the tasks you want to overcome in everyday life. It makes me assist like an instructor that you can learn a lot from these two apps. That's why, I'm thankful that they created a superior & perfect app for every person who have a struggling problems that unable to solve when it comes to work that include time management.
The eighth one is “Google Chrome” that designed to be that's fastest web browser. With one click, it loads web pages, multiple tabs, and applications with lightning speed. Whenever I'm using this app, there will be always ads popping up. So, as a result, I easily annoyed sometimes but, we can't deny the fact that ads is everywhere, even for those online gamers can relate. As what I said, it allows me to set up tabs as many as I can, just in case I needed those pages.
While, the two left apps on my list are called, “MVLE Mobile” and “Google Classroom.” These two educational purpose apps makes me help to fulfill the tasks that I should be finished on time. Aside from that, they're lessons can pin and students can able to download it then, having a takes notes. So, just in case, our instructors may ask some questions about the lessons we read about the learning materials s/he has given through online access.
Tumblr media
As I end of my discussion about my experience that I shared here to those TOP 10 mobile apps that I am usually using everyday. I gained a lot of knowledge to them and since everything we use nowadays are related to technology. We can't force ourselves to be able silence but, to inform other people these apps are having an advantages and disadvantages at the same time. But, I would like to say that, “Be a responsible mobile apps user, especially when you're in social media. Think hard first before you click anything, not everything you may see are true. Just be careful with yourself and others that may affect, if ever you do wrongdoings that's not acceptable in our society.”
That's all, I hope you read my blog until the end. Thank you for the time you spend, have a great day ahead!

For the gaming meme: 3, 21, 24, 38?
thanks!
3) Favorite boss? UHH. Would it be a good time to say I actually dislike many boss fights or boss fights as a whole (and yet still think they are necessary for many games.) Anyway. Probably something from an RPG. Can I lump every single asterisk holder from Bravely Default in here. For the music alone but also for the excitement it brings of knowing you are about to unlock a new job. Or at least what I remember of them.
21) A game you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up loving? Saying something like "I only play games I liked or know I will like" is too much of a cop out answer and I think I get more of the reverse experience of this than anything so...Helltaker maybe???? I wasn't expecting the puzzles and I got really absorbed into them. Forget the girls, gimme the puzzles!! wait was i always predisposed to like sokoban noooooooooo
24) If you could live in one of the games you’ve played, which one would it be? Solatorobo's world I guess? Floating islands, cool mechs and airships, bounty hunter life and you get to be a dog/cat-person yay... ... ...well I guess human people can/do exist in that world but we'll ignore that for now. (helps a lot that the world is expanded upon greatly through....advertisements????)
38) An unpopular gaming opinion you have. pfft based on conversations I've had with other people who play games...aren't most of mine that...uh but yeah nah hmm I think whatever I say will be something that serves my tastes best and I think in recent years, things that were prior unpopular have become fairly more common the see echoed. Anyway I think they should take maps away from players and ditch all UI signposting. Make a space interesting to explore (don't make it a chore by making it more - make it interesting) and scope that shit waaaaaaaaaaaaay down. Also I think dodge rolling should be used more for positioning in action games over using it a "qte" "simon says" mechanic that plagues every facet of them now.

xiuxiu/xiao hua/wu xie for the ship meme??
ohhh now this is interesting 👁️
Tumblr media
i feel like i'm flooding the tags at this point oops
i'm not going to lie i've never really thought about these three as a ship but i need you to know the first thing that came to mind was the spiderman meme and it's all three of them pointing at each other 😂
it's another interesting one that i'm still not screeching about this thing needs a spare square for that but i feel like it ultimately runs into the same problem that xiehua does for me, in the sense they're all too similar in certain specific ways for it to truly work for their personalities. i do think these three have a great dynamic to explore though, both together and paired off into different two-by-two options. they're all childhood friends (or more like long-lost childhood friends in wu xie's case) are all three the heirs (or in xiao hua's case acting head, that happens a bit later for xiuxiu) of their respective jiumen families, and essentially carry similar baggage in terms of the burdens of their elders' choices impacting their lives to different extents. though some do a good job of showcasing how they work, namely ultimate note in particular, in my opinion none of the dramas really do it justice, so i'm going to be basing myself off of books 7 and 8 more particularly, because there's actually a wealth of material to look at there. you've got xiao hua and xiuxiu, who've grown up together and are good friends (one of xiao hua's only friends really), and they both trust each other' inherently as well as each other's respective competence. they work seamlessly really, and while i tend to see their relationship as more familial than romantic, it's not a stretch to see it that way. i've already touched on wu xie and xiao hua so i won't get back into that here, so i'll move on to wu xie and xiuxiu directly
wu xie comments multiple times on the fact he feels xiuxiu's mind seems to work very similarly to his, and i don't think he's wrong about that given you discover fairly quickly she just about as persistantly stubborn and crafty about it when she sets her eyes on a goal. she's the one, who observing from a young age that her grandmother (who favored her over her brothers because the huo family is matriarchal) was troubled in curious ways by her aunt huo ling's disappearance, investigated it on her own, discovered the discrepancies in the photographs huo ling was in pre and post banai expedition, hunted down jin wantang, and is the one who posted the missing persons ad that says "i have the fish" that wu xie finds while googling xiaoge's name all the way back in the first book. all this at the big age of 18. all this to say she's about as cunning and determined as wu xie proves himself to be, and while they're not the same people, and xiuxiu carries her own faults and shortcomings due in large part to her youth and inexperience (though even that in some ways mirros wu xie's who's never truly naive, only inexperienced), they're also quite similar. i've seen a number of people comment on wu xie and xiao hua being mirror images of each other, and they're not wrong, but there's also something to be said about xiuxiu in many ways being something of wu xie's female counterpart. i could go more into this namely the kinda vague hairpull idea i have that maybe xiuxiu in some ways might represent a facet of his idea of the ideal women that he still doesn't pursue that way but i'd be getting off topic
all this too much to say that i feel all three of them are weirdly different sides of die i can't say coin if there's three of them, and it even shows in their solidarity once wu xie drags himself enough out of his severe depression post zhang family tomb and its fallout. he chooses to face xiuxiu, who at first resented his desecrating of her grandmother's corpse (which for context, bodies are meant to be buried whole in chinese tradition, it is extremely taboo to do what he did), and because she's reasonable she quickly forgave him and warmed up to him again. from there, both wu xie and xiao hua act as xiuxiu's main support system to help her navigate the fraught huo family politics and the family business after huo xiangu's death, xiao hua in the north, wu xie in the south as he'd taken over wu sanxing's territory and businesses by then. up until tibetan sea flower, all three of them are very much a united front, and i'd say xiao hua and xiuxiu in some ways act as wu xie's support system just as much pangzi does over the phone, seeing as they indulge (xiao hua especially) wu xie's fixation on the things he brought back from the zhang family tomb
so tldr; i don't ship it like that but i do really love their relationship and i'm glad xiuxiu is more actively involved with them now

name : ashley pronouns :  she/her preference of communication : whatever ! im bad at communicating frequently anyways so tumblr ims are usually where i'm comfortable starting but if we talk a decent amount i can give you my discord - i will not give it to just anyone but also like. its not hard to find now that the #s are gone. i just feel bad because i have a tendency to read a message and forget that it's there and don't reply for awhile. most active muse :  merrick or stella ! i go through waves with different muses at different times but those two are without a doubt the most common ones i can pull out before the rest experience / how many years :  i started in the g lee rp circle playing the one and only rachel barbra berry for about four years before i started dipping into oc's. since then i have created a fucking small towns worth of characters and gravitate towards indie or small discord groups. sometimes i look at tumblr groups but discord is just easier so that i can rp on my phone. best experience : i genuinely can't tell you. i've had so many incredible experiences over the years - i've made amazing friends, met great people, and written some truly phenominal stories i couldn't have done without other people. rp pet peeves : i don't really have any lmao u do u and ill do me and we'll just mesh or we won't ??? fluff, angst, or smut : all. angst but like, light angst - dark themes i tend to keep off tumblr because i'm tired of the Correct Police throwing grenades at people. fluff is easy but gets kind of dull sometimes. i like writing smut but i do gotta be in the mood for it. a mixture and balance is what i care about most ! plots or memes : ???? why not both.gif ??? plotting is great and i'm always down for crying about our babes but also sometimes you just have to see where your characters go and how they interact - it's again all about having a healthy mixture for me ! also i love memes and they can help me when i'm stuck for a beginning interaction or just in a writing slump ( like rn ) long or short replies : depends on my mood and writing ability; i like really long replies because i have a tendency to put in a lot of exposition, but sometimes snappy one liners are easier to get out. most of what i do on discord is 'texting' so that also makes an impact. time to write : i would love to find this out for myself one day if you can find it lemme know are you like your muses : i think there's always a little piece of a writer in all their characters, whether it's a favorite color or song or attitude or something. so yes, i'm sure some of them are different facets of my personality, but that is something for an eventual therapist and i to tackle.

name : red, niza, hell you could even call me pavel if you wanted to idgaf. i'll respond to any name so long as i know it's me whose attention you're trying to get. pronouns :  i take any pronouns tbh. preference of communication : disco. even if it takes me some time to see it or respond, i'm always on there. most active muse :  pasha. experience / how many years :  what, fifteen years now? give or take? idk man. best experience : the people i've met and the stories / worlds we've weaved, hands-down. i've met people through rp who are some of the most dear people to me irl and i'm so happy to have met them through this little hobby that i don't tell anyone else irl about that i'm into. i've got inside jokes for days from old rps that i'll take to my grave. i've (i think) grown as a writer so much even in just my short return to tumblr and keep meeting more great people. rp pet peeves : right now, definitely this new editor (it counts). people who remake their blog every week because i just can't keep up with that. 40x40 icons with a border that has 1800 things going on because i end up looking at the border and don't know where the actual fc icon is. they're usually pretty as fuck, don't get me wrong, but it detracts from what the icon's really meant to be used for imo. fluff, angst, or smut : i'm going to have to go with angst/drama. usually because it's part of something very multi-faceted and deep and wild that forces me to push my muse and explore them in greater depth. fluff i can handle for a while, but it often has little plot on its own and i prefer it as an add-on to something else that's happening, or maybe it's advancing relationships/the plot somehow. i love to talk about the smutty side of relationships/dynamics, but i'm not confident in writing it, plus where pav's concerned, not sure how much i'd really ever be in the position to have to worry about that anyway. plots or memes : memes are a hell of a lot of fun and they definitely kickstart interactions (says me who never really reblogs memes ever), but i've learned i prefer plotting, no question. i get invested in plotted memes and having even some sort of path and knowledge of what i'm working with really helps me expand on this world that's being created in a way i can't with just winging it without feeling like i'm taking control or overstepping or what have you. plus, plots allow me to go fuck-all wild and really chat and have a good time with the other mun. long or short replies :  i am going to say long because i cannot keep my replies short. i always end up getting carried away and saying too much, whether it's internal thoughts, actions, or describing a setting. time to write: honestly, anytime the inspiration strikes. sometimes that is early, sometimes it's at 0300. i have no set time where i sit down and say now i write!! though i do find that i have the most inspiration when i am in places i don't want to be. for example, i think i write some of my best replies on mobile when i'm stuck at my desk at work. are you like your muse : hmmm in some ways. much like pav, i do actually love to learn and i hate not knowing things (though my memory is nowhere near as good as his, so i forget things quite often.) i also have a very strained relationship with my dad, but for different reasons.

I missed you reblogging the Wholesome Ask! So if it's not late…
7 and 20 for Emmaera, and 31 and 39 for Salshira? :)
Are you kidding? I love to gush about them :) Thank you so much for asking!
(The ask meme, just in case)
7: What is their favourite movie, or a movie they would really enjoy?
This was the hardest one to answer T.T
Emma has two hidden facets: she is a closet romantic, and she can really hold a grudge. So she would either be really into sweet romance movies or revenge flicks (for the catharsis).
I think the one that best combines these elements is The Princess Bride, so there you go: that would be her favorite movie :) She would eat sweet popcorn and cry every time Buttercup thinks Wesley has been killed. And cheer every time Inigo kills the six-fingered man. (and fall asleep during the credits so poor Cullen has to carry her to bed and clean up all the popcorn later, bless him)
20: What is their hidden talent? Is that a skill they’ve been practicing since childhood or just something they happen to know and never had the chance to show? Besides, was it something forced upon them, taught by someone close, or they picked it up themselves? Which new skills they would really like to learn?
Emma is exceptionally good at memorizing stories and pieces of writing. When she was young, her dad would take her along to Elvhen ruins and they would try to take charcoal rubbings and explore as much as possible. Sometimes, she would have to wiggle through openings too small for him. When it wasn't possible to copy down pieces of writing, she'd have to memorize it, then climb back up and tell him. It was such a useful skill (and the Dalish already have such a strong oral storytelling tradition!) that she kept honing it over her life.
Now, she can usually recall most of the words from a piece of writing she's seen within the last day or so, and if she doesn't know exactly what it said she can usually tell you where on the page you can find the information you're asking about. She's pretty good at memorizing verbal messages, too, which is a great skill but very annoying if you're trying to win an argument against her.
Emma was really interested in the Astraria when she traveled with the Inquisition. I think she would love to know more about reading the stars, or even navigating by them. Astronomy in general really appeals to her, because so many of the stars have stories of their own.
31: What would make them blush?
Actually, Salshira can sort of blush on command. All she has to do is think about the time she ran off with her mother's underthings on wash day and got them stuck in the tree. The whole clan stood around scolding her while she tried to climb the tree to retrieve them and it was really embarrassing. She still calls this memory up when she needs to give the impression that she's blushing for real.
But genuinely blushing? It's really rare, because she has a strong alcohol tolerance, but she gets very flushed when she's drunk. Also, when someone genuinely compliments her skills she might blush (Dorian complimented the way she cast a fire spell once and he used so many words and was so specific that she finally covered her face and told him to stop because she couldn't take any more). Compliments about her appearance have no effect, however.
39: If they could go back in time, how would they reassure their child-self about the future?
"One day, we'll be strong enough to make choices for ourselves. I know how it feels, but love is not a trick or a cage. Worrying about it, waiting for it---that's just making all your days about something that may or may not happen. Don't worry about being trapped; look at me---what cage could hold us? Life is long. Leave the cave behind and step into the light. There's so much still to do, and we're going to see the world."

sally boyle for the ask meme?
Tumblr media
Gurrrrl.
My NOTP for them: Nick Lightbearer.
Seems obvious on the surface, but not likely in practice. Nick is famous in Wellington Wells in the same sort of way Sally is, but Sally only dates guys who can do something for her. He can't really do anything helpful to advance her career or even get her in a better position socially than she already is. My assumption is that before she works for Stewart Adams, she is one of Davy Hackney's models (hence all her "outrageous" looks) and she supplies her co-workers with her own homebrewed drugs as a sideline. Socially, being one of Nick's groupies (or even one his wives) isn't much better than just being one of Hackney's models and is probably a much larger hassle so it's a moot point as far as Sally's concerned. Plus, if you're dating him, you can't charge him for drugs. My BROTP for them: Dr. Faraday.
Sally seems to be the only person Dr. Faraday likes in any capacity. She speaks respectfully to Sally (compared to show she speaks to Arthur, Roger, and James) and doesn't seem to mind that Sally has come asking for something, even though Dr. Faraday faked her own death to avoid being asked for things. I rather think it would have been good for both of them to be better friends. My OTP for them: Herself.
Girl needs to be alone, be self-sufficient, and work! on! herself! My second choice pairing for them: gonna cop out and say herself again.
Sally's whole way of being is this idea that she can't do anything without the support of a man in some way. And yet there are so many examples of women in Wellington Wells who do exactly that. I've gotten into arguments before about how much the time period and misogyny influences the story, but We Happy Few is an alternate timeline in which everything (including qualified workers in nearly every sector) is at a shortage. There are opportunities for women to strike out on their own and to be self-sufficient. Sally just never sees them. Part of that is how she was raised; part of it is that - of the three main protagonists - she is the most resistant to self-reflection.
While I don't wish the story was different - because I think this facet of her character is what makes her interesting in this context - if she were a real person, I would wish for her to have been put in a situation where she was forced to be alone - genuinely alone - for a while and see that she could have been all along. As is, Gwen (though not a man) acts as the same sort of motivation and I think in the long run, Sally will still have problems with being on her own, even though we know she's capable. My fluffy pairing for them: Gemma Olsen.
Maybe not fluffy per se, but Gemma would have been an excellent influence on Sally. Gemma is clever, self-assured, plucky! And she lives and works alone! Gemma also benefits from not having this idea that she's not like other girls. Gemma is like other girls. She likes pink and wearing cute outfits and she gets along well with other women. She even gets along well enough with Sally to glean information from her that Sally doesn't even soliloquize to herself about. If Sally had someone like Gemma to look up to (Gemma is older than her, 41, so that's a point towards maybe the time period not mattering as much as it would in the real world), Sally could have seen that you could reconcile femininity and everything about it that Sally thinks of as a burden. Gemma doesn't see her femininity that way; to her, it's another tool in her toolbox.
Bonus fluff: William Godwin.
I think when he comes to her for his consultation (he would be #9), Sally elects to put him on Blackberry not because she feels compelled to as in most other cases, but because his determination and certainty that Wellington Wells can course correct if only they can be made to see what they're doing to themselves endears him to her. It's a gesture of hope on her part. Sally mentions many different but disparate people who could help her in her soliloquy lines, so it stands to reason that she is aware of various resistance movements or people who are at least open to the idea (but maybe not with a baby involved). I think she probably does try to help in that way, which is why she has so many subversives on her Blackberry list. My angsty pairing for them: Arthur.
Look, I know everyone loves the idea of these two ending up together, but they're a shitshow waiting to happen. They're both in love with the idea of each other and while they've both realized that folly in an academic sense, if they were to make a of go of it, I don't think they'd actually be able to think rationally about it in real time. They would constantly be disappointing each other and pissing each other off.
And there's just a matter of trust on both halves of the equation. Is Arthur ever going to be certain Sally's not flirting with someone better? Is Sally ever going to feel secure that Arthur won't cut and run when things get complicated?
On the other hand, old timey people put up with a lot more shit in a relationship than I would so ???
I guess I'll leave the avenue of grim hope open for you diehards. My favorite poly ship for them: I might have, as a joke, once goaded @harrturr to draw Sally, Dr. Faraday, and Victoria Byng as a ship. And then proposed that what was needed beyond that was Gemma trying to figure out what the three of them were up to. Lesbian sci-fi political thriller! Cool new genre! My weirdest pairing for them: Harry Haworth.
If Harry hadn't been the Joy-addled mess that he was when Sally took that tour, she likely would have set her sights on him and not Anton. And Harry probably would've been better for her, not unlike Stewart Adams but without the significant drawback of being married. He was already in the habit of hiring women for scientific work so we can make a relatively safe assumption that he's not a misogynist. And Sally, in her wheedling way that Anton apparently couldn't or chose not to attempt, might have been able to discourage Harry from his experiments with that phrenological device of his.
