4. Single Parent/teacher AU

These are all so late omg i can’t belive i put ‘em all off lol

“Missus Noceda?”

“Missus Noceda's my mother, I'm Luz! You must be Miss Blight.”

The young teacher that Luz identified as Ms. Blight, one of two kindergarten teachers the school had to offer, approached and smiled politely at her.

She looked... different, than Luz had anticipated when she'd heard about her from the other kindergarten teacher Ms. Park. Luz had pictured some stern no nonsense woman who really shouldn't be teaching kids at all, yet the first thing Luz took in about her was her soft amber eyes. Then the minty green dyed hair, overgrown a bit with the brown roots peeking out, and a ruffly pink shirt. And- Okay Luz was worried about her baby getting put in this lady's class, but now she was worried about being put in with a hardass teacher whom also happened to be needlessly pretty.

“It's about Azura.” Luz took a breath. She'd kind of been anticipating this. Though it was still too early to get her tested, Luz was pretty sure her daughter suffered the same fate she did and her poor probably ADHD brain would implore her into a lot of schenanigans by the time the school year was up. Maybe she could start experimenting with what stim toys Azura could bring with her without getting in trouble.

“Is there something wrong?”

“Oh no!” Ms. Blight held her hands up in shock “Actually, She's been a delight in class! She's got a lot of energy in her, but once I let her use my stim cube she could sit still for reading time easily! Actually I was wondering if you had any stimulation devices for her at home that you'd be okay with her bringing to school? It would certainly improve her concentration. But Azura's been nothing but helpful to the other kids and I really want her to succeed later on in her schooling.”

“Oh... oh! Yeah She's got some stuff I won't be too worried if got lost... Thank you Ms. Blight.”

“Mama! Mama! You're here you're here!” And then her little fireball darted across the playground after spotting her. Once Luz had an armful of her little Azura she glanced back at Ms. Blight.

She'd clearly decided that her daughter's presence meant that the conversation was over, and had turned back o the other children in the little playground.

“Say Goodbye to Ms. Blight mija.”

“Buh-Bye Miss Blight!” Azura waved both hands, letting go of Luz's shoulders and forcing her hapless mother to scramble to keep hold of her little girl.

“Bye Azura.” Ms. Blight turned back to the two of them and waved, and when her eyes landed on Azura, Luz could see a true, sincere care for her little one.

“Bye Ms. Blight.”

“Have a nice evening, Ms. Noceda.”

“Luz!”

“Well if I called you Luz you'd have t call me Amity.” She chuckled, looking notably at Azura again, and Luz knew what she was getting at.

But she already felt old with her little girl going to school, she wasn't going to concede this.

“Alright, than have a good evening Amity!”

Amity spluttered as Luz turned on her heel with Azura on her hip. “Come on mija, Abuelita is coming over for dinner tonight!”

“Yay Abuelita!”
