First Day on Set🌊🔱
Walker Scobell X Reader | Series | You Belong With Me🔱 Part 1
A/n: Sorry, I didn't re-read the story, so there might be spelling errors.
Y/n's bio: The reader is just a few weeks younger than Walker. She got her start on Good Luck Charlie as Charlie. But Taylor Swift discovered her musically. She has released three record-breaking albums so far. Once Taylor took her under her wing, things were never the same. Not that you didn't like it. You loved it!! But sometimes the paparazzi can be annoying. Especially when your best friends are huge stars.
When she gets the part of Annabeth in Percy Jackson, she becomes best friends with the cast. Especially her co-star, Walker Scobell. But will they become more than just friends?
The alarm clock goes off and you look over to see it is 7 am.
You groan as you turn it off
"Come on y/n! We are going to be late!"
You hop out of bed as your remembered what day it was. Today was the first day of filming Percy Jackson! You have loved Percy Jackson since you were very little and you were so excited to play Annabeth! You hop out of bed and rush to get dressed.

This is just the first thing I found on pinterest

××FLASHBACK××
You and the cast of Percy Jackson were going to a Party to meet one another.
You get out of the car and are half way there when you realize you forgot your phone.
"Ugh! Mom I forgot my phone ill run back and meet you there."
She nidded
You were running back when you ran into someone.
"Hey!" He said jokingly as you both fell to the ground.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't look where I was going!" You apologized
"Don't worry about it!" He said with a chuckle as he stood up and offered you his hand. You took it and he pulled you up
"Hey aren't you that girl from Avengers?" He asked
"Please to make your acquaintance." You said in a funny voice bowing
You both laugehd
"Y/c/n is such a badass!"
You talked for a little but then parted way so you could get your phone.
××END FLASHBACK××
When you got to set you parking in your marked spot and went to your trailer to meet your hair and makeup artists(Gina and Natalie). They were very nice and sat you down as you got to know each other.
Walker walked in with Chick Fil A and sat next to you.
"I got you a cookies and cream milkshake too" He said sitting down I the seat next to you.
"Thank you!! Your makeup is done already?" You asked while grabbing the milkshake he was taking a sip out of.
"IT WAS DONE AN HOUR AGO! YOU WERE LATE!" He screamed and you both laughed.
You take a picture of him and the food and post it.
Tumblr media
The first scene you did was the bathroom scene.
You were talking with Dior when the director yelled action. You got yourself into character.
"I can explain" Walker said nervously
"No you can't" I replied
"Okay. Wait...I know you dont I?"
"No you don't" I replied channeling my inner Annabeth
"You were there that night in the infirmary"
"Yes. I'm Annabeth"
"Are you stalking me Annabeth?"
"Yes" I say like it's totally normal
"Okay" He said caught off guard
"Well, I've been waiting to see if something like this would happen so I know if you can help me"
"Help you do what?"
"Win capture the flag of course"
The director yelled cut and Walker walked up to you dripping wet
"Hey great job! You were born to play Annabeth!" He said as you backed away from him
"What's wrong?" He asked a little confused
"I don't want to get wet" you said continuing to set back
"Well in that case..." He said with a mischievous grin in his face
He then lunged forward and had you in and bear hug and was spining you.
The hug you didn't mind but now you were covered in water too.
"WALKER! PUT ME DOWN!" You demand
"Fine" He said putting you down
"That's what you get for eating my nuggets" He said with a fake stern face
"I hate you! You said looking at how soaked you were.
"You love me" He said with a smile
"I do" you sighed
A/N: This is my first attempt at fanfiction!! I hope you like it!

i'd love to hear your thoughts on surfer!mick encountering mermaid!lewis (can you tell i can't stop thinking about that photo)
1. “I’ve been looking for you,” Mick says, and the mermaid looks over his shoulder, spotting him. He doesn’t move from his perch on the rocks so Mick paddles closer.
“Not in a weird way,” Mick quickly follows up with, floundering. “Just — over the years. I’ve kept an eye out. Normally. Casual. Just to see if I saw you again. Yeah.”
He winces. That could’ve come out better.
The end of the mermaid’s tail is draped into the water and the scales Mick can see are a dark purple, shiny and slick like oil in the sun. They run up his stomach, fading strangely into skin at his waist. Mick is too far to see the details of his tattoos.
Normally, Mick knows from school, they can reach up past the middle of the ribs but he must have human in him somewhere for them to be so low.
“You saved my life once.” Mick clears his throat, tightening his fingers around his board. He pulls one leg up under him. His throat is dry.
He loves the sea, always has, even when he is scared of it. Maybe especially then.
He had known better than to go surfing when it was that choppy, with winds that high, even at that age, but he had just gotten that new board and ignored every voice in his head that told him no.
He had been sure he was going to die there, coughing and cold and wet, too dark and swirling to tell where was up or where was down.
“It was a while ago,” Mick says. “You might not remember.”
“You were shorter.” The mermaid’s voice is soft, softer that Mick expected, and his teeth are sharp.
“Well,” Mick shrugs, cheeks heating. “I was thirteen so.”
He remembers how his nails dug into Mick’s shoulders, how he pulled and pulled and pulled until Mick could feel sand on his knees and pushed at his chest until Mick choked, bone sore and shaking. His eyes were very bright in the dark when Mick looked at him. Mick remembered how he looked right back.
He’s looking at Mick right now.
“I remember,” he says, and smiles. He’s very pretty actually. Mick is helpless not to smile back.
“I wanted to say thank you, for that, so, um, thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” the mermaid replies and Mick gets the faint feeling he’s laughing at him.
2. “Woah, man, is that, like, fish?”
Lewis pokes at smoked salmon on top of the cracker Mick gave him, face unreadable. The sun is setting behind him and the loose off white beach coverup that Mick stole from Gina’s room is slipping off one shoulder. The whole effect is slightly devastating to Mick’s insides. It might even be giving him indigestion.
He looks at the fish, and then at Lewis’s face, just barely frowning, not quite a grimace, and back at the fish before it clicks. Oh god.
“Oh, god,” he says out loud. “Can you — I didn’t even think to ask, I’m so sorry. Can you even eat fish? I mean, do you eat fish because, you know —“
Lewis pulls a face, mouth pulling up, one eye squinting. He peers sheepishly at Mick. He looks like he might try eating it anyway. This is definitely giving Mick stomach problems. He’s ruined everything.
Lewis gently puts down the cracker, exhaling. It’s almost a sigh. “Fish are friends,” he says, quiet. “Not food.”
Mick closes his eyes. He’s so fucking stupid. He planned this entire thing out — getting the time right with the sunset and the weather and the lack of people on their corner of the beach and — And. And.
“I love Finding Nemo,” he states calmly. Lewis grins at him, all seriousness come from his face. Mick hates him.
“Such a classic, right?”
“You know, Hamilton,” Mick says, butterflies melting away. “You’re a bit of a dickhead, has anyone ever told you that?”
“Nope!” Lewis says, popping a grape into his mouth, eyes crinkling. Mick flicks some crumbs at him with his fingers.
3. Mick goes very still as he lifts a hand, palm first. A raindrop falls in the centre of it, light and warm.
He doesn’t bother saying just one moment to Sebastian, taking three long running steps to shove Lewis off the edge of the pier and into the sea.
When Lewis’s head pops up out of the water, eyelashes dark and curls flat, he’s laughing. The rain isn’t quite a lash but it’s not a drizzle either. It’s water whatever way you spin it.
“Really?” Lewis says, grinning. His pearl necklace matches the ones in his ears. Mick picked up a bracelet that he thinks would look nice with it at one of the stalls at the market in town a few days ago.
There’s a shiver of deep purple shimmering below where Lewis’s legs should be if you squint.
“Yes, really,” Mick replies, shifting so Sebastian can’t see his face. He raises his eyebrows meaningfully. Lewis rolls his eyes.
“Huh.” Sebastian comes up beside him, his sensible sandals quiet on the stone pier. He pauses to lick messily at his ice cream cone. “I thought it is just salt water that activates your tail. Does regular rain water do it too?”
Mick stares at him, and then at Lewis when he says, “Nah, it’s just salt water. Has to be from the sea too. Mickie here is just being overly cautious.”
“Overly cautious?! What if someone saw —“
Mermaids are rare enough and nearly every part of them is worth a lot of money. They’ve been an endangered species as long as Mick can remember.
Sebastian hums, solemn. “So serious, our Mick.”
“So sorry for being concerned,” Mick declares, throwing his hands up in the air because he knows it’ll make Lewis laugh. It does. Mick, very seriously, ignores the amused look Sebastian sends him.
4. “Wait,” Mick says, a while after. He and Sebastian are sat side by side now, feet dangling in the water, cool against their calves. Strands of Lewis’s hair tickle Mick’s leg whenever he floats too close.
“How did you know Lewis was a mermaid? I never told you.”
He looks quickly at Lewis to make sure he knows that. Lewis’s mouth tilts up at one side and he doesn’t say anything. Mick curls his toes and uncurls them.
“I didn’t either,” Lewis says, looking up at Sebastian. He wraps a wet hand around Mick’s ankle, thumb brushing along his instep.
Sebastian shrugs, face flat and still in that way that he does right before he’s about to tell a joke that he is particularly proud of. His mouth is twitching.
“Ah, you know,” he starts, shrugging. “The smell of fish is very strong around him, yes?”
He catches hold of Mick’s t-shirt when Lewis pulls Sebastian in by the foot, dragging both of them down. Mick swallows a dreadful amount of sea water, laughing and then choking. Lewis’s hands are cold and soft on his elbows when he pulls him back up to the surface.
5. Lewis’s shoulders are bare and broad as he arches in the air, whole body twisting and tucking as he dives back into the water. Show off.
Mick reaches out a hand and Lewis swims closer, humming. It’s still too early for other surfers to be out, sun not yet risen, tide in and calm.
Mick lies his chest flat on his board, one arm folded under his chin, the other still outstretched. Lewis’s curls are damp at the edges and loose around his face. Mick tucks one behind his ear when he gets close enough.
“I’ve wanted to do this for a while,” he says, and Lewis only raises is eyebrows.
“Have you?”
“Yes,” and when Mick kisses him, he tastes of salt and his lips are cold but his tongue is warm and everything is wet. He realises if he holds Lewis’s chin in one hand, fingers on his cheek, he can feel how the lines around Lewis’s mouth deepen when he smiles.

TRYPANOPHOBIA
True Detective AU • One-Shot
Tumblr media
Rust frantically rubbed his hands against his own lap nervously. The doctor behind the desk gave him an intrigued look as he gently lowered his glass lenses down the bridge of his nose with a raised eyebrow. Rust smiled slightly trying to ease the tense atmosphere. The silence was suddenly uncomfortable but somehow put off the things Rust might have believed would happen right there. Finally, the doctor took a deep breath with tired eyes and handed a rectangular piece of paper into Rust's hands. Several studies that he had to do, in and of themselves, many of them totally tedious, the kind in which you have to spend most of the afternoon or morning inside a detestable hospital that smells of gel alcohol and death impregnated in every one of the walls painted a sickly pale white.
He sighed, not that he was really interested in wasting time, it wasn't something within the limitations of his life. One of the studies itself gave him the willies. A blood test to find out who knows what about his health, in fact, what the hell was Rust doing there? he barely remembered. He only knew that just reading "blood collection for analysis" made him cringe. He put a hand to his forehead and continued to stare at the paper with wide eyes before fixing his colorful gaze on the doctor who was watching him with slightly narrowed eyes. Rust held out his hand, then left, cursing himself for being an obsolete nurse.
"So that's how it all started" Marty expressed as he shoved his hands into his soft sweatpants from the cold "Wow, are you really that scared of a stupid fucking needle?"
Rust grumbled and rolled his eyes as he shook his head in a direction not directed at Marty, who gave a naive little laugh anyway as he took a deep breath. The man pulled a cigarette from under his torn black coat and took a lighter from his left pants pocket. Rust stretched out his legs on the seat and tipped his head back wearily. The smell of the freshly lit cigarette surprised him. He looked back at Marty, who was standing over him, and his eyes went wide.
"What the hell are you doing, you can't smoke in here!
"Who are you, a nurse? Leave me alone, Rust.
"Fuck you can't smoke, you'll get us in trouble!
"Hey" Marty complained, removing the cigarette with just two puffs from between his lips "I came to take care of you only because I'm an idiot who doesn't think things through. If it bothers you so much, I have no obligations, I'll go out and you can be sure that you won't mess things up here.
"No, no, no, wait" he begged... God, he hated begging, but he didn't want to be left alone either, "okay, smoke some more shit if you want... but at least let's hang out until you're done." finish the cigarette.
"What, are you crazy, Rustin? I'm going to freeze to death out there."
"Shit, Marty. I'm giving you options!
Rust frowned, a bead of sweat trickling down the sharp cheekbone of his face to fall down the side of his neck. Marty cocked his head, Rust's skin turning even paler than usual. Off to the side, below, his leg bounced off his foot, the nerves of anticipation penetrating deep into his system. Was the fear of that sharp piece of metal really that great? Marty was stunned and sighed, stubbing out the cigarette with the sole of his shoe after dropping it to the ground. Rust saw that and was relieved, he didn't show it anyway... Not that Marty wasn't aware of things.
Then a long silence turned them off, transforming an icy atmosphere into the same malaise expressed in a single moment of perhaps a few minutes until a nurse appeared to say two names:
"Smith, Gina"
"Cohle, Rust"
So that's where things changed. Considered a Rust who was beginning to think he could calm down, which was totally wrong, and a Marty with a certain grumpiness and a bit of intrigue on the palate, things just went wrong. Rust didn't know if it had been good that there was a woman in front of him or if he had simply preferred to go first to stop suffering while he waited. Marty was once more at his side, the two of them now standing by the door to the extraction lab. The man took off his steamed-up glasses and wiped them down, then put them back on his nose. Rust was wringing his hands... Marty noticed it too.
"Hey, man," he started to say, with an air of expired comedy in his voice, "I'll buy you a latte and some donuts if you go over there and be good."
He teased, Rust looked at him with fake anger. The wry look on his face was priceless and Marty laughed at his own bad joke as he stretched out his arms. Deep inside the room, the woman they had called earlier from Rust opened the door and left. Cohle watched the events and immediately witnessed his heart begin to pound with ferocious force, almost wanting to jump out of his chest. Marty brought a small smile to his face and placed a hand on Rust's slightly sloping shoulder from his pessimistic stance.
"Calm down... I'll go in with you if you want, old man."
"Really?" Rust asked.
His face twisted at the strangeness of Marty's words. But in the end, no sane person invites his enemy/almost friend, to accompany him because he is a bloody man who is afraid of a needle in the same way that a child is afraid of the dark under his bed, neither is that Rust was not afraid of him. From time to time, he woke up to turn on the bedroom light, crouching down and praying that he didn't find traces of blood and used needles full of old scraps on the floor…until now and luckily, that hasn't happened, not yet. Marty looked at him with determined eyes and shrugged.
"I have nothing to lose," he said, and Rust didn't need to object at all.
A few moments later, a man in a white coat appeared at the door and waved Rust inside. Marty didn't ask for any permission, just dared to come in with Rust without even being invited. When the doctor saw him, he just grimaced and turned his attention to Rust.
"Do you think your partner could wait outside?" he asked and Rust's eyes widened.
"No, no, no" he said, the doctor raised an eyebrow "he...he doesn't want to leave."
The man in the robe said nothing, just grimaced again and looked down. Marty walked over to Rust and planted his feet next to him. As the medic set things up, having reluctantly placed the band on Rust's thin arm. The man tensed as he saw the spire closing terrifyingly toward him. His body jerked slightly and he groaned, but Marty's hand on his shoulder kept him inside the seat.
"Fuck, Rust, calm down," Marty said in a whisper.
In the end, when the venipuncture began, Rust clung to Marty's hand, which had fallen downward when the doctor told him to stay still. He squeezed the offered hand too tightly during the extraction, nearly hurting Marty's fingers, who grunted as Rust released him, then flicked his wrist to eradicate the stinging discomfort. The doctor said a couple of things, directions and such after finishing sorting Rust's blood into little tubes. Marty didn't listen to half of the things, after all it wasn't even his problem, in the same way he nodded to every word assuming that he really cared only about looking good... of course, he didn't expect the doctor to believe that they were both in a relationship, although even so, he did not count on the intention to set the record straight, nor did Rust.
"I didn't think you'd keep your stupid word," Rust confessed before taking a long sip of his latte.
The two were in a small cafeteria near the hospital. Marty smiled, Rust still hadn't removed the little bandage on his arm that was visible because of his blue jean shirt with the sleeves rolled up. His pants nearly frayed on his thighs from dragging his hands over them so much. Marty took a bite of his chocolate-dipped donut and cleared his throat.
"So" he began, Rust looked up "Why are you so afraid of needles?
"Well... nobody loves them" Rust told him, desolate form avoiding the subject.
Marty stretched out his arms again, yawning, and settled back in his seat, staring at Rust obsessively. Rust put a hand to his hair and smoothed it down as he sighed.
"Come on, you almost passed out in there. I thought you were going to run out of the hospital."
"There's no reason to count certain things.
"Oh, for the love of Jesus Christ!" complained Marty "... come on, Rustin. I came here, I accompanied you and I stayed with you."
"That has nothing to do with it. People are afraid of needles! I'm not weird or abnormal. My condition is totally obvious."
"Actually..." after that Marty was silent, looking for a good answer. In the end he looked up at the ceiling and sighed "it's not quite normal. You are afraid of them, a fear that is not common."
"Are you a therapist or what the fuck?
"Shit, Rust. Don't always be defensive!
"Fuck you Martin!" he said almost with the voice in the tone of a scream, Marty still waited calm inside his chest.
"Why the hell did you want me to come with you?
"It doesn't matter.
"Why the fuck did you want me to come with you, Rust?" he said demanding an answer.
Once again Rust put a hand to his hair and combed it out. His leg swinging frantically on his right foot. Marty bowed slightly, several aged marks at the joints of Rust's arms. Entre closed his gaze and then widened it, blowing smoke from his body through his nose before dropping his spine over the back of his chair. In fact, he had understood things, but talking to Rust was certainly complicated. Could it be that in the same way he had raised his arms so that Marty would notice the marks without the need to say it in words? He would not have been able to affirm his theory of everything but it could be almost 54% true. Rust nuzzled his own neck sore from his poor posture and growled, large dark circles under his wide eyes.
"I see," Marty said quietly, Rust cocking his head.
He closed his eyes for a few moments, dark brown locks falling over his forehead as he lowered his head.
"Forgive me, man. I didn't mean to screw up your weekend, I know you had plans with Maggie and all...
"Don't worry" he said "she's with the girls in who knows where, maybe shopping... although I don't think so, knowing them well, they may be buying weapons to kill me when I arrive or something like that.
Rust chuckled a little and placed an elbow on the table to support the side of his face after having unrolled his shirt sleeves so the marks wouldn't show. Marty took a sip of his coffee, staring blankly at the wall behind Rust's shoulder and then rubbed his eyes, lifting his glasses with his hands underneath. Rust was watching him with a strange impatience. His stupid talk didn't make sense, none of his talks did, but this one was different, because Marty had agreed to do something that anyone would blow up in seconds and Rust just didn't know how to return the favor, by God, he'd even bought him a stupid latte and a couple of donuts!, that was already a lot.
From time to time Rust didn't know how to deal with kindness, wasn't used to it, let alone having to give it, anyway, right there, sitting across from Marty, in a diner with his donuts and his almost finished cup Rust really thought about how to be nice with genuine interest in making it...
He never got it anyway, but Marty got the point and that might be more than enough.
"You know, you don't have to count a damn, it's your life, Rust.
He told him, if it hadn't been for his soft tone, Cohle would have thought the other man was upset, but luckily that wasn't the case.
"I'll tell you at some point, I swear," Rust told him, his voice a thin thread of sweetened seriousness.
Marty just smiled and shrugged, realizing that the topic had ended there, and that he didn't want to harass who now seemed to have become more than an enemy/almost a friend in a heartbeat. He smiled and preferred to continue joking, that was simply the best, for him and above all for Rust.
"Next time we can ask the doctor to use a lancet," he told him.
Rust just laughed. A real genuine laugh that had been missing for a long time on his soft red lips. Marty felt that, at least for that day and what little he had managed to do in it, made him feel satisfied enough with himself.
"Fuck you" he said with an amused tone "I have more studies anyway, you know...
"I'll accompany you, don't worry" he interrupted him and then smiled, after a few moments Rust did exactly the same "but you pay for the damn breakfast the next time I'm here it cost me a fortune.
"Done deal" he finished saying.
After all the money didn't matter if the next time Rust had to face the hospital and his needles he would at least have someone to do it with.
Original fanfic post
It's not the best characterization of Rust, I admit. (My character here is horrible lol), but I had a lot of fun writing this.

Smiffina Episodes - Episode 426
Smithy's feeling a bit rough after the night before, not just because of the amount of alcohol he put away but also incase anyone saw and is now gossiping about him and Kezia. "Someone's been a naughty boy...." "What's that supposed to mean?" "... Just... you had a bit too much to drink?"
Smithy and Reg are called to the front garden of a rather irritated woman who has been waiting 'all night!!!' for someone to come and remove a scooter from her garden. Imagine the waiting times now, love! You'd never get a copper out in the first place! She's absolutely furious when Smithy refuses to remove it or let her have it removed because there's blood on it and he wants to get it forensicated. "How long will this... CSE... person take?" "Hopefully within the next 6 hours." Reg smiles helpfully. By the time Smithy and Reg get to the Super Special Briefing by the new superintendent, she has already called the station to make a complaint about them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Smithy quite literally bumps into Kezia and asks her if she's alright - she says yes and walks off. Gina looks both amused and intrigued. "Not the answer you were expecting?" She asks. "... Not after last night, no." "That sounds like it comes with a story attached and I am all ears!" She says, literally grabbing hold of his back so he can't escape. Smithy sighs and tells her - discreetly - about the kiss and he's confused as she couldn't even smile at him that morning. Gina suggests she's playing hard to get.
John pulls a special middle of the day briefing where he essentially tells the relief they're not doing their jobs. Smithy stands up for his staff and John questions how, if he's so sure they're doing their best, has he already had a complaint made that day by the scooter woman? Reg points out they've followed procedure and there's not a lot else they can do. John insists there's always more they can do! Perhaps they can pull more funding out of their arse? Train a few CSE examiners on their lunchtimes? Charm an irritable cow who was going to complain no matter what because it wasn't what she wanted to hear? And even if it had been, it wasn't done the second she first telephoned! He wants them to make more arrests to bump the figures up and everyone has to have made at least one arrest by the end of the day. Even for things as small as littering and spitting in the street.
Smithy asks Kezia if she's embarrassed that they kissed last night because she appears to have been avoiding him. Kezia couldn't even remember it happening, telling him it happens a lot when she gets drunk. She assures him she wasn't ignoring him or avoiding him - she just didn't remember.
Mickey questions Smithy about the scooter he and Reg had been called to that morning as he thinks he has a link to where it has come from and what it was used for. Smithy explains what happened and tells him where it is. "Make sure you smile at her or she'll be on the phone to the IPCC, mate!"
It's ok though, cos she's quite fond of Mickey after he potentially saves her from being shot by the injured driver hiding in her shed (with a toy gun!)

Hi! This isn't meant to be hate, and while I do very much disagree on the chemistry conversation, I understand that must be something that's subjective. I don't understand however, how R*na is supposed to be considered unhealthy, when there's even been friendships on the show that were less healthy than they ever were. I'm just not sure where that came from and I want to know what I missed.
Hey. First off I find it a little odd that your tumblr has no action on it. Makes me think maybe you created it so that whatever your main one is people don't see you asking stuff like this. But it's okay whatever let's ignore that it's not that important. Next whenever anyone says they don't mean it to be hate they actually mean that it's hate. But okay i'll indulge you. I shouldn't because it's always a bad idea but let's go for it.
The chemistry thing is obvious. Just compare Josh's scenes with Olivia and his scenes with Sofia. Compare Matts scenes with Sofia and his scenes with Olivia. Olivia/Josh & Matt/Sofia have natural chemistry & when they kiss or touch or look at each other it feels natural it's not forced.
All the Rina stuff feels super forced and over the top acted. Never said Rina was unhealthy as far as I remember. But they had a terrible buildup. Okay yes they had moments in the early seasons but they were not exciting enough for me to care or remember them.
If they had a gradual buildup that made sense then I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. But all Ricky did was ignore Gina for 3 seasons and then suddenly catch feelings last season. He had no interest in her until Nini left. And even this season he was a terrible boyfriend. He never communicated and he just ran away all the time. And he had to go to EJ to get help on how to interact with his girlfriend instead of just talking to her like a normal person. EJ told him to go to her in the rain and EJ told him to sing her a song at the end. If he didn't have EJ would he have done it himself? Probably not. The kid needs therapy and to grow up. He is not mature enough to keep a relationship or stay in one. Maybe if he worked on himself then that's another story.
Now lets talk about EJ & Gina. I mean they had the best buildup. Enemies to Lovers. They built each other up. They saw the best in each other. He went to the freaking airport for her. He showed up for her. And the whole camp thing was obviously just written to make him look like an idiot and horrible boyfriend so the Ricky/Gina thing would seem like it somewhat made sense but it still didn't and for a growth arc. Because you can't go from giving your 100% to nothing that quick. Come on it's just not realistic. But then this season he grew as a person/matured as a person. He learned from his mistakes and apologized for them. He communicated with Gina. He was there for her and he didn't need to have someone tell him what to do. He was just there as a friend for her after all the shit she put him through. He had her back. He showed up for her when she needed him. All Ricky did was run and run and run.
I'd respect Rina if Ricky made more of an effort the first 3 seasons. If he acknowledged stuff but he just was always making an effort with Nini. And I still will forever believe they were the endgame but Olivia left and Tim was like well we have no other choice now but to put him with Gina. Cause there is no reason for a beautiful enemies to lovers buildup just for a plot device. I'm sorry there just isn't.
Ej & Gina just have so many of the same things that Pacey/Joey & Jess/Rory have and they are the gold standard. So obviously if Tim were not writing this show and Olivia had not left we would have had EJ/GINA thriving this last season.
But you know what it's okay because this show takes place in high school. So 10-15 years down the line Ricky/Nini will be back together and so will EJ/Gina. They are the one that got away ship that ends up together a long time down the road.
I'll leave you with one last thing. They model themselves after Troy/Gabriella supposedly. Well Troy/Gabriella are in therapy. HAHA sorry to break it to you but your endgame is toast.
This is my opinion don't agree or agree with it I don't care. But you asked me so this is what you get.
AND I WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY OTHER RESPONSES TO THIS OR ANY OTHER ASKS THAT COME AFTER THIS. THIS WAS A ONE TIME RESPONSE. CAUSE I KNOW THIS WILL BE A THING AND I'M NOT GOING DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE.

Today I was looking through my old photo albums from when I was a kid, so imagine bff's mom gave some of her old photo albums and both of them are just flipping through it
And there's photos of both of them together as kids like their moms pregnant with them together in a photo from 1998, their newborns selfs meeting, go karting together, building a science project in middle school, high school prom, bff dancing ballet, playing guitar, dressed as a flower girl to her aunt's wedding etc
just ugh extremely cute that they have so many memories of those times and how they were always together since day 1

Part 36. Best friends to lovers. MASTERLIST.
You hugged Corinna when you arrived and set your things in your shared room with Mick. You hadn't gotten used to sleeping in the same room as him when you visited the ranch yet.
After dinner when you were enjoying the night's breeze on the porch, you remembered the box your mum had given you.
"Oh, guys. My mum found something and she wanted me to show you."
You ran to the bedroom and back with the box of photos.
Inside there were some of them and then albums.
"What is this?"
Mick made you sit on his lap and Corinna sat right next to him in the porch swing.
"A bunch of photos"
"Oh look at this!" Corinna grabbed one. It was her and your mum, they were looking at each other and comparing bumps. "If you two are in love is because your mum and I worked hard on it"
You and Mick laughed.
"You were so beautiful. It's so unfair. Why can't I look this beautiful?" You said looking at your mum in the Pic.
"Don't be silly, YN" Corinna said pushing you.
"Yeah, you are so beautiful" Mick kissed your cheek.
"Oh guys and this one. It was the firs time you met. Look at it. You were already some months old, but you were really beasties from the first moment. See"
Mick and you, being the cutest babies, were looking at each other. You had reached your hand to touch him and he was pouting.
"You made me cry" He laugh.
"She did. You loved to sleep together in the same crib. Or in the sofa or something."
"Some things never change" You said smiling. It made your heart flutter to see what Mick and you had built over 20 years. It was insane.
Mick opened an album titled as YN's adventures.
There were a bunch of pictures of you, a new born, a toddler, a little girl,... Then the first picture of Mick appeared. It was again you as babies. Gina had you on her lap and Mick was smiling next to her.
You saw Corinna's fond smile.
The next one was your first ballet festival. You clumsy danced to the Nutcracker. You were only a little kid. The photo was taken right after the end and Mick had a flower on his hand. He had his shy gesture and you looked like the happiest girl alive.
You looked at Mick, who was blushing. "You had always been the cutest"
"Shut up"
Corinna laughed.
"Oh look at this! This is when dad took you Karting for the first time! You were so scared!"
It was you, Mick, Michael and Gina. You remembered that day. It had been awesome.
"Because you guys drive like mad. I was just a poor little girl!"
"You scared her a lot, Mick."
"I remember something, yeah."
You remembered how Corinna made Mick Park his kart because he was being a menace around you. You wanted to go slow and he just wanted you to go faster and faster.
You laughed loud when Mick passed the page. It was him all grumpy in a chair, his Karting suit hanging on his waist. You were happily eating ice cream on Corinna's lap.
"What that thing you said, YN? Some things never changed"
"Yeah, sweet grumpy boy" You kissed Mick cheek and he blushes hard.
"I hate when you team against me. Really. I do. You are not nice"
Mick took another photo. You teaching him how to play the guitar.
"Yeah. It never worked" He said laughing.
"I tried. You weren't born for music"
"Yeah, if you say so..."
"We could try again"
He moved an eyebrow.
"Really?"
"Obviously, babe"
"I'm in"
You passed the page.
"The little car!" You had built a little car for science class. It worked with wind and you gifted it to Mick for his tenth birthday.
"That car is still at home in Switzerland" Corinna said.
"I keep it. For when you get to be the best engineer in F1" Mick said smiling.
"Oh honey..." You pinched his cheek and he smiled at you.
"I will bring ice cream" Corinna left, sensing how you needed some time alone. Mick laughed shyly, as if it was the first time you were alone.
Then he passed the page and you felt something on your stomach.
Natalie.
She was Mick's first girlfriend.
"Oh look! I think I wouldn't have dated her without your help. Really, if you didn't have pushed me that day it would have never happened."
"Yeah." You smiled a bit. You were a good friend for him and encouraged him to go and ask her out. But when things turned more serious you started feeling worse. You liked him a lot. You had a huge crush on Mick and he was the happiest with Natalie. And Natalie was a jealous girl. She didn't like you around Mick. Which made things worst.
You had never had a boyfriend. You had only eyes for your prince. Natalie kind of hated you and made you distance yourself. It didn't last long, but you wanted what she had with Mick. You felt kind of lonely then.
Mick passed the page. Prom day. He was your date.
You felt Mick sifting under you.
"Um... I broke up with Natalie because I liked you by then. And then asked you to prom because you didn't have anyone to go with. I wanted to kiss you, but I chickened."
You looked at him.
"R-Really?"
"Yes. She treated you really bad and no one does that to my best friend."
You cupped his face and kissed it a thousand times.
"I love you so so much."
"Guys!" Corinna appeared with a bucket of ice cream and a photo on her hand. "Hey, YN. Don't eat my son, please"
You laughed and kissed Mick one last time.
"He is too nice"
"I raised him well"
Mick and Corinna shared a look and you smiled.
"I found this one"
It was you on Julie's wedding. You were the cutest flower girl.
"Hey, were was I? I was the rings boy."
"Probably climbing that three and completely destroying your trousers." Corinna answered.
You laughed hard and got more comfortable on Mick's lap. He hugged you closer.
If that day someone would have told you Mick would be your prince, you would have just said that he was your bestie and boys sucked. But here you were now. You were eating ice cream with your boyfriend and mother in law, who were your family even before you were born. These people had made your life better and you were who you were thanks to them.
And as you put a spoon of ice cream in your mouth and Mick passed the page, you felt right. It was a feeling of being were you belonged. Right there, with Mcik and Corinna laughing with a picture of you covered in 0% alcohol champagne after one of his junior Karting wins.

My final guest episode, with not one but two very special guests!
Transcript below the break
Jane
Hello and welcome back to The Rewatch Rewind! My name is Jane and this is the podcast where I count down my top 40 most frequently rewatched movies in a 20-year period. Today I will be discussing number 7 on my list: Disney’s 2001 comedy The Princess Diaries, directed by Garry Marshall, written by Gina Wendkos based on a book by Meg Cabot, and starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews.
Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) is a shy and unpopular 15-year-old just trying to survive high school, when the grandmother she’s never met, Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews), shows up and reveals that she is the queen of a small European country called Genovia. Since Mia’s father, whom she also never met, has recently died and had no other children, Mia is now first in line for the throne. While she’s still deciding whether to accept this job, Mia receives princess lessons and a makeover, and has to deal with how these changes affect her relationships, especially with her best friend Lilly Moscovitz (Heather Matarazzo) and Lilly’s brother Michael (Robert Schwartzman).
This movie is so fun and iconic that I felt like I needed two special guests to talk about it with me, so in a few moments I will be joined by my sister Rosemary, whom you may remember from the Newsies episode, and my friend Sophie, whom you may remember from the Enchanted episode. But first, the breakdown of when I watched this movie after I started keeping track: three times in 2003, three times in 2004, five times in 2005, twice in 2006, twice in 2007, twice in 2008, once in 2009, once in 2010, once in 2012, twice in 2013, once in 2015, once in each year from 2017 through 2020, twice in 2021, and once in 2022. Yes, I watched this movie 30 times in 20 years, and I would do it again. So let’s talk about it!
Hello, Sophie and Rosemary.
Sophie
Hi!
Rosemary
Hello.
Jane
Welcome back to both of you.
Sophie
Thank you. Happy to be back.
Rosemary
Thanks for having me back.
Jane
I'm so glad to have you both here, even though you've never met each other before, but I know that you both love this movie, as do I. So I'm very excited to talk about Princess Diaries. I think we can start with how we got introduced to this movie, if we remember. I know that Rosemary saw it in theaters and I did not.
Sophie
That's too bad. Rosemary, you want to go first?
Rosemary
Sure! Um, I don't remember exactly all of the circumstances. I do remember going to see it in theaters with my mom and it was really good. We really enjoyed it. And we're like, Jane will love this, and really liked the line, “Goodbye trolley people!” That really tickled us. And then I do remember around the same time, the local like, bookstore and newspaper, I think, put on this contest where someone could, like, write an essay about why they should be like princess for the day or something. And one of my best friends at the time was like the winner of it.
Sophie
Wow.
Rosemary
So that was when I like, realized that, oh, these are actually books too, and then got really into the books around the same time as well.
Sophie
That's so cool.
Rosemary
So those are my like, early memories of Princess Diaries.
Sophie
Yeah, I actually can't remember if I got into the books or the movie first. Probably the movie, but I would say my trajectory was really similar. Like if I saw the movie first, then I read the books immediately after. And I probably saw like a trailer for the movie on Disney Channel or whatever because I… I do distinctly remember, like they did this thing where like they would if if the movie or show or whatever had a song, they would do, like a music video of whatever the big song was in the movie, and show that as like a commercial for whatever it was. And then in this case, because they're, I mean, there was Miracles Happen and they probably did a music video of that. But they also did, they would show like a scene from whatever it was like, sneak peek into our latest whatever. And so they did the the tea scene at the consulate where the “Gosh, Gee whiz, golly-wolly” exchange happens. And so of course, like me and all my other little 6-year-old friends were saying “shut up” to each other and thought that was the peak of hilarity, which I'm sure our parents were thrilled with. So that was, that was definitely a big, a big scene for us.
Rosemary
And then I also remember like, early on, like shortly after it came out on VHS or whatever, for Jane's birthday, her like birthday party was like… I remember our family, but I don't know who else was there, and we all just, like, gathered in the living room on the pull out couch with the like, little like 12 inch VHS player. And we all like gathered around it and watched Princess Diaries.
Sophie
That's so fun.
Rosemary
And that was like your 12th birthday party or something.
Jane
Yeah. Yeah. No, I I was trying to- cause I definitely remember you and mom going to see it and and coming back and being like, “There was this really funny ‘goodbye trolley people’ scene!” And I was like, what does that even mean? [laughs] But I don't remember like I assumed that I'd seen it before that birthday party, because otherwise why would I have asked to watch it for my birthday?
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
I didn't see it in theaters, but maybe we had rented it or something before that. But I definitely remember that because I we watched it for my birthday party and then since we had rented it, we had it for a few more days and I watched it like multiple times all of the days that we had it because it was also like my birthday was during spring break. And that was only like a couple of months after our aunt died. So it was like a weird time and I was like, kind of sad during that time. But like that week, I just remember like, watching this movie over and over and just being like, “I love this so much! This is the thing that makes me happy!” But I wasn't keeping track of movies yet because that was 2002 and so I'm like, OK, well, if I if I'd started a year earlier, then this movie would have so many more watches.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
Because as it is, I've watched it 30 times in in the 20 years that I counted. But I don't remember how many times I had watched it before, but I definitely was just, like, so in love with it. I'm not exactly sure what it was about this movie that I was so excited about when I first started watching it.
Rosemary
Well, it's very… it's a very comforting movie.
Sophie
Mm-hmm.
Jane
Yeah.
Rosemary
Like, it feels very like warm and like a hug.
Sophie
Yeah. I do… like, I always worry with the movies that I feel that way about. Like, is it nostalgia or is it really a good movie? I think this one airs on the side of it's really a just a good movie.
Jane
Yeah, yeah, definitely. I I would agree. I just I every time I watch it, I'm just like, this is just so nice.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
It's, it there's, I mean there's conflict and there's like a few uncomfortable moments. But overall it's just like a nice story.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
And it has a good it's a good tone between silly, goofy and also like very sweet and sincere, and like it never feels like overreaching in the, like emotional moments that it hits.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
Like it all feels very like genuine and earned and like realistic.
Sophie
Yeah, for like for finding out that you're a Princess when you're 15. It's a really realistic movie.
Rosemary
Well, yes. Is it based on a true story?
Sophie
But no but I get what you're saying. Like the premise is absurd and at the same time it's very grounded in reality. And I I appreciate that, like, the characters seem to be genuine, like good hearted people. I love that people apologize when they do the wrong thing. Like, and Jane and I were talking before we started recording about the some of the changes between the book and the movie. And I think making Clarisse a nice person is one of the things that this movie does really well. Because book Clarisse would never have apologized to Mia for making her feel bad or, like, not listening to her. And then you get Julie Andrews, who's like, “I'm really sorry that I judged before I, you know, heard your side of the story.”
Jane
One of my favorite stories about this movie coming to be is that when they were talking to Meg Cabot about how they were going to adapt it, somebody was telling her, like, “We're thinking about, like, killing off the dad and expanding the grandmother’s role.” Because because the dad is alive in the books. And like, “We have someone, like a really big star in mind to play the grandmother and we think like, we should expand her role and get rid of the dad.” And Meg Cabot was like, “Well, who… who you were thinking?” and they said “Julie Andrews,” and she immediately went, “Kill the dad.”
[all laugh]
Rosemary
Yeah.
Jane
And Julie Andrews… this was an interesting point in her career because she had recently undergone surgery that caused her to lose a lot of her singing voice. Like that was in the mid 90s. And so she was kind of. In retirement to a certain degree, like she wasn't really sure what the rest of her career might look like. And this was also her first Disney movie since Mary Poppins.
Sophie
Wow.
Jane
And it's just so cool to see her sort of mentoring Anne Hathaway, who is making her feature film debut in a big Disney movie, which is exactly what Julie Andrews had done with Mary Poppins. And first of all, just… hard to believe that this is Anne Hathaway's first movie because she's so… she carries the movie so well, like I do think that's a big part of why you get that grounded feel is like she brings such a like realistic sense to the role of Mia. And I just think she was perfectly cast. And I also just think it's so fun that she's kind of following in the footsteps of Julie Andrews. I mean, obviously her career has looked very different overall, but it's kind of fun that they both have the same introduction to movies.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
That is really interesting that Julie Andrews didn't do more Disney movies after Mary Poppins.
Jane
Yeah, right? Cause you think, she's such a Disney icon.
Rosemary
Yeah, you would think that like they would be really fighting for her to have roles and stuff.
Sophie
Keep her in. Keep her in the family, in the fold.
Jane
Yeah, that was that was something that I hadn't, I wasn't really aware of until relatively recently. I was looking at more facts about this movie, and I was like, wait really? It's just very interesting. I'm not really sure how that conversation went, of like convincing her to do this movie if she was, like, really excited about it, or if she needed some persuasion. But I'm really glad she did because like, I'm sure I had seen Mary Poppins and Sound of Music multiple times before Princess Diaries came out. But, like, that's really what made me become a Julie Andrews fan is seeing her just totally kill it in this role.
Sophie
Yeah, I think Mary Poppins probably was my first, but this is the first that I like, really remember of her.
Jane
Yeah. So the two of them, I mean, everybody in this movie is great, but I love the dynamic between the two of them and like the whole scene when they're like at the arcade together is really nice, and and just like seeing their characters relationship transformed throughout the movie is great. And I… just thinking about like, yes, this is a romantic story and like there's some focus on her and Michael, but there's so many other relationships that are really important and really focused on in this movie and like, Mia and her grandmother, Mia and her mother, Mia and Lilly. Like there's friendships and family relationships, and it's like, and there's a romance, too. But it's kind of like, that's not really what the majority of the movie is focused on, which I think has always resonated with me.
Sophie
Yeah, I would definitely agree that although the Josh versus Michael conflict is a really big one, it is a romantic conflict and yet it's not like… it's not romantic. It's just, like, kind of an allegory for Mia trying to, in much the same way that to be a Princess or not to be a Princess is like her growing up and developing. Like maybe the things that I thought I wanted aren't the things that are going to make me the happiest. And I do sort of like in the book that she's always had this kind of pining crush for Michael, I think that's very sweet, but it's nice that Josh serves as like a, this, you know, this is what I've thought I've been working towards this whole time and then it turns out it actually is really horrible and I don't like it. And I would rather do something else. I think it serves the same sort of purpose that she's like, growing up and becoming more like sure of herself and confident.
Rosemary
Yeah, I think things that I've always liked about the movie, like the romantic teen sort of aspects of it, is that it feels more realistic to what people actually go through in their high school years than a lot of teen movies. Where they're like, “Oh, this is my true love. I'm going to marry them. I'm gonna…” you know, whereas like Mia has this crush on this guy and like, she gets all giggly and flustered when she's around him and she's not smooth and neither really is he. But, you know…
Jane
He thinks he is, though.
Rosemary
He thinks he is and and I feel like that's very like, sweetly portrayed. And like a very innocent like teen romance feel. But I think a lot of teen movies, they rush into being way too adult and like heavy feeling, but I've always, I've always really liked that Mia doesn't… she doesn't... Josh doesn't notice her because really, any other reason other than because she's a Princess. She doesn't have smooth pick-up lines. She's not like, cool and confident. There's not really any focus on, “Oh she's like, really sexy. So he’s, of course he notices her.” It's really just because he wants to be… have some fame. And then like this guy that's like her best friend's brother, like, I feel like that's stuff that happens to people, you know? It's like you're around these people for your whole growing up years and you're like, “Well, I have feelings. I don't know what these are. But maybe I'm in love with you. But maybe I just…” you know, trying to figure things out. And like she wants to get her first kiss. And it just feels so sweet and innocent in a way that I think a lot of teen movies really miss that point and are really like thrown into like much bigger, like, “I'm desperately in love with you” or “I want to sleep with you” or things like that. And this movie really like, keeps it, like at least more of what my experience as a teenager was where it was like, “Oh, I have a crush on this person. I'm awkward, and then we move on or we hope they notice us. But then when they do, I don't know what to do and…” So that aspect of, it does have that romantic story, but it definitely feels like, yes, these are teenagers who are, like, feeling things for the first time. And what does that mean, and what does that look like?
Sophie
Right. It's very sweet and innocent. She's like, very concerned with if her foot's gonna pop or not. Like she's not…. there's no like, you were saying, it's not like desperate. She's not like, this is, you know, “My my parents say I can't be with this person. And so therefore I have to have them, and we have to run off and get married and then he's going to turn me into a vampire” or whatever. And she wants to be kissed and she wants to have this little like old movie moment. And then she does get that and it's… But it's… with Michael it also is a little bit of maturity. Like, “I don't like him because he's, you know, cute or popular or he has a boat or whatever” it's, you know, “You… you noticed me. You saw the real me and you like me anyway.”
Rosemary
“You saw me when I was invisible.”
Sophie
Tears. And then all the lights turn on and the fountains come on and we’re in the garden with the roses and yeah, so.
Jane
Yeah, that's it's interesting because so much of the movie feels so like relatively realistic given the premise. And then that moment, it does kind of seem a little bit fairy tale-ish. But it's also explained because multiple times throughout the movie, The Queen is talking about how she needs the gardens to be fancier.
Sophie
“Make me an Eden.”
Jane
Yeah, exactly. So they're like working on the gardens the whole time. And so like that kind of that pays off in that moment, too. And it's like, it's not just this came out of nowhere. It's like, this is what the garden needed to be beautiful for!
Rosemary
And I love that we keep going back to, “Yeah, this movie is realistic. The story is realistic” because, OK, first of all, she finds out she's a Princess for the first time when she's 15. And Josh, who's, like a 15/16 year old, has a boating license? And his own boat?
Sophie
[laughing] Yeah.
Rosemary
But otherwise it's it's realistic.
Sophie
They go to this high school that can rent out an entire private beach with a DJ and catering. What even is this party? They’re… Josh is on his boat. The the girls are doing their like studio sound system concert. There's like random food with whole watermelons, for some reason. They do like a close up shot on this kids plate, and he's got half a watermelon filled with grapes like, what are you doing? Who provided this? Who is this for?
Jane
And in a deleted scene they did a banana dance.
Sophie
Right. Yeah.
Jane
But I mean, I guess part of it is explained like, that it is a really fancy rich school because, like, it seems like her royal family members were paying for it, which she seemed to be somewhat unaware of.
Sophie
In lieu of having a relationship, I'll just like send my child to private school and buy a Faberge carousel for her bedroom.
Jane
Yeah, because of course.
Sophie
I did really want that though as a child. The little music box thing. And the diary that opens with the locket. That was the coolest.
Jane
That is really cool. I also think it's funny though, because like the books like the whole conceit of the books is that they are her Diaries, like she's writing them, and in the movie she doesn't even get the diary until the end.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
Well, you know, but OK, so books that are turned into movies. Generally, I'm like, the book is better. Why do we even have the movie? The movie tried, but it didn't do anything. And I feel very differently about this. I…love Princess Diaries as a movie and I love the book series and they are two very different things.
Sophie
Completely separate entities.
Rosemary
Yeah. And also all I want in the world is like a miniseries that takes place in the early 2000s in New York, where the books take place and shows these teenagers in the early 2000s, actually doing what the books are and like, have it be really good. And I would pay a lot of money to see that. So whatever major streaming service is listening to this, I would love that and to have actually have the main grandma and the dad who's alive and justice for Tina Hakim Baba.
Sophie
God bless!
Rosemary
Because we love her and she needs her moment.
Sophie
She sure does.
Rosemary
So I would love that.
Sophie
Yeah. Well, I I volunteer to to write it. I I I will be in the writers’ room once the strike is over, but with the caveat that it can't be gritty. Like they can't, it can't be dark. There can't be, like, you know, we're all really depressed and sneaking around and like, it has to be as like sweet, but a little more aged up than what the movie was.
Rosemary
Yes.
Jane
Yeah, cause I do definitely feel like the movie is for a younger audience than the books.
Rosemary
Mm-hmm.
Sophie
Yeah, which is weird because I'm sure that I started reading them when I was like 7 years old and she's talking about, like, getting her period at the Moscovitz's house and like wanting to make out with someone at Lilly's bat mitzvah. And I was like, what is what is this?
Rosemary
And then there's that, like, weird stalker man that like is stalking Lilly and wants to see her feet, and…
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
But like, I loved that series so much. Reading those books like, really got me into, like, YA realistic fiction? Realistic. We're going with that again.
[Jane and Sophie laugh]
Rosemary
But like I was obsessed with, like, YA books all through, like middle and high school. And I think it really did start with Princess Diaries. And I was always, like, so excited when a new one came out and would like just devour it. Like even like last year when the…or earlier this year? I don't know. When Quarantine Princess came out, I was like, We have a new one. We still need more of this story.
Jane
How many books are there now? I mean, I guess there's some that aren't, like technically part of that series and…
Rosemary
Yeah. So there's ten that encapsulate her, like high school years, and then there's like a few extra ones that go in there that are like little short ones. And then there's the one I think it's like her wedding, maybe? Yes, that one came out, I think maybe in, like, 2015-ish. And then there's Quarantine Princess, which came out like in blog format in 2020 and then got like compiled and more things added to it and came out like within the last year. So Mia is still around. She survived COVID.
Jane
And there's the spin off ones about her half-sister, right?
Rosemary
Yes. Yeah. So then… I think around the same time that that the one that came out in 2015 that I can't remember the name at this moment, Meg Cabot also made like a middle grade series that there's a younger half-sister that came into the picture. And so she has her diaries as well. So there's like, supplemental content there. And I I read the first one. And it was very sweet and good, but I don't think I read any of the other ones.
Sophie
I just found out about that. So that's all new to me, but I did... I did love the little like Princess Diaries and a half, much like The Lion King 1 1/2 I think is the best Lion King. I think some of the Princess Diaries and 1/2 are my favorites. I think the only one that I actually had was the one where she and Michael do Habitat for Humanity together.
Rosemary
Yeah, I was gonna say, I was like, isn't there one where they, like, build houses together or something?
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
Yes. And then there's like a Christmas one too, I think.
Sophie
OK. And then that's probably why I didn't have that one.
Jane
Being Jewish.
Sophie
Yeah because they needed like Lilly’s Hanukkah or whatever. And then I also had, I don't know if you know about these, there's one like companion book written I think by Clarisse. And then there's one written by Paolo and they're like… It's essentially The Care and Keeping of You, but the care and keeping of a princess?
Rosemary
Mm-hmm.
Sophie
And so Clarisse's one is like etiquette. All these etiquette rules for like dining at a fancy party. And then Paolo’s is like, how to, you know, do hair and makeup and stuff. And I love those.
Rosemary
Yeah, I remember reading those too. Is that when they talk about the cousin Sebastiano that like, doesn't finish his words and then he's like, “Please pass the butt.”
Sophie
[laughing] Probably.
Jane
I remember that character.
Sophie
Don't be like him and say “Pass the butt” at dinner, especially when meeting with heads of state.
Rosemary
So there's a lot of Princess Diaries content is what… what we can sum up this conversation with.
Jane
Definitely.
Rosemary
And all of it is good.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
I feel like, I mean, I know you were, like, way more into the books than I was.
Rosemary
Mm-hmm.
Jane
But I I feel like we read some of them together.
Rosemary
I’m sure we did.
Jane
Like you'd already read them. But like, we used to read stuff out loud to each other a lot. So I think that that was one of the things, at least… cause I remember really liking the third book, and now I'm like, I have no idea what even happens in the third book.
Rosemary
The third book is the best. It’s really good.
Sophie
If that's the one with the non-denominational winter formal, that's I totally agree.
Rosemary
And that's when Michael makes a computer program to tell her that he loves her.
Jane
Oh yeah, okay.
Rosemary
I would read that little section like over and over and over again, and I would be like, if only someone would love me enough to make a computer program that says-
Sophie
Aww, to code for you.
Rosemary
Yeah, and it says, like, “I love Princess Mia.” And then she, like, gets up and runs away because she's like, all embarrassed. And then she's like, later they talk and she's like, “I thought you were making fun of me,” and he's like, “Never.”
Sophie
Aww, what a sweetie. I I love Michael.
Rosemary
I love Michael too.
Sophie
I think casting for him was great. He's so freaking weird in the movie and I love it in the scene where he's he's like still kind of mad at Mia and he comes over to the house. And she, like, gives him the last check for the car. He puts in it between his teeth as he walks out of the door.
Jane
Yeah, for no reason.
Sophie
He has nothing in his hands. What is wrong with him? I love him.
Rosemary
But he's also really weird in the books too.
Jane
Yeah, yeah, it worked.
Rosemary
“He fixes cars, he plays guitar,”
Rosemary and Sophie
“and he can sing. He is so hot.”
Jane
“He is wicked sweet.” I think the person who said “he is wicked sweet” is the infamous cousin Meredith, who was Anne Hathaway's like… I don't know if she was technically her guardian. She was only a few years older than her. But like, I think that Anne Hathaway was still 17 when they started filming. But she was… she turned 18 during filming and that was… helpful to the filmmakers, because then she could work longer. But she was such a baby!
Sophie
I know. Oh, she's so cute.
Rosemary
No, I've always loved Michael. I think he's a great character. He's a great person. He invented a robotic surgical arm in the books that, like, does heart surgery.
Sophie
Yeah, he's- I mean, he was… He's great. I… like I also I really get it as like someone who had – had? has - an older brother who, like all my friends were like, “Wow your brother's actually kind of hot.” And I'm over here, like Lilly, being like, what are you talking about? Are you blind? Because I live with the guy. But yeah, I definitely related to their to their family, as like neurotic Jews, just hanging out.
Jane
I think it's really funny how, like the moment at when they're like about to dance and at the ball at the end and and Mia doesn't know if Michael's going to show up or not and then he comes in. He like comes through the crowd and he passes Lilly and he like tickles her or something. It's like they have a weird little sibling moment there before he goes to dance with Mia and it's just like-
Rosemary
I knew you were gonna bring that up because I think of it every time, Jane’s just like, “It's so weird when he tickles her stomach!”
Jane
It is weird, but it's it's like, a good kind of weird. Of like like I think that too often, again going back to the whole like, romance versus other relationships thing. I think that that too often in romantic stories, it's like, they kind of forget about how everybody, how they're connected to everybody else once the like two get together. And I think that it's nice that their friends are there too. Like that, that Lilly and Jeremiah are also there and like it's showing that that it's like they're all connected and it's not just this. And that like Lilly is really the one who pushes Mia to to realize what being a princess could mean and how that could be a good thing and like a responsibility.
Sophie
Yeah. And I I also, I would agree with you, Jane, that it's weird. I think it's, maybe not on purpose, but like that is a very like, at least in my experience like my brother would do that too, and it would be very awkward, but he would like mean it in a loving way.
Jane
Right.
Sophie
He just doesn't know what else to do.
Jane
Yeah. No. And I I think that's great. I mean it's it's weird but, like, I I love that I love all the little weird things that happen. That's a big part of why I love this movie. There's so many weird little moments that you just kind of like, why is that there? But also I love it. I mean, just the whole thing with like when she breaks the statue, and puts the-
Rosemary
“Maybe it's string cheese.”
Jane
Yeah, exactly! She puts the finger in the mouth of the statue and and that scene is really funny too. I love when she breaks it and she immediately like shushes the statue. Like, “Don't tell anyone that I broke you.” And then like, she just sticks it in there and it's just like kind of a throwaway thing. And then it comes back in the best way. “They're famous for their cheese. Maybe it's string cheese,” and it's just, ah, it's so good. But like that, that serves no purpose, but it's hilarious.
Rosemary
Also, how did she break that statue? Like isn't it made out of like marble? Like…
Sophie
Right.
Rosemary
That she would just like touch it and it would break? Like what? What is that statue made out of?
Jane
That was an untapped part of the story that she also has super strength. But just like nobody- that's why she always falls down and stuff like she does. She can't really control her own strength.
Sophie
Yeah, gravity is too strong.
Rosemary
They would be like, “We can't put that in there because then it would not be realistic.”
Jane
[laughs] But we'll have hints for it anyway. Ah man.
Sophie
Yeah, and and that her first idea is to reattach it with saliva. Like, that's good work.
Jane
[laughing] Uh, I love it. I love it so much. Just like fun moments like that is really, I think what makes it such an enjoyable movie, because like just, there's stuff that still makes me laugh when I've seen it more than 30 times.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
Just like…
Rosemary
“Please don't crush my soy nuts.”
Jane
“Your soy nuts are safe.” Ohh man. Yeah, just so many great moments. And I mean, I do enjoy the movie Princess Diaries 2, but it just like has nothing to do with anything. I feel like it's so weird that they just like went ahead and made it even though the guy who played Michael couldn't be in it and they’re just like, “Well, Michael's not important anymore.”
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
The fact that they made them break- “Oh, we're still friends, but we're broken up. And now I'm going to like, go fall in love with someone else.” That is not Mia Thermopolis. She is obsessed with Michael. She's in love with Michael. I don't care. Book, movie, whatever. It's fine. Princess Diaries 2 is fine as a movie, but it's a totally different universe. One where Raven is randomly there. And there's mattress surfing.
Sophie
A an African Princess.
Rosemary
Yeah. It’s just-
Sophie
Like, get someone from Africa! I mean, she's American.
Jane
Like, is she an African prin-? Like it's we don't know who she is, she's not explained. It's just like she shows up and and Mia’s like, “Oh it’s you!”
Sophie
“It’s my best friend!”
Jane
And it's like, who is this? We've never seen her before. Please introduce her to the audience!
Sophie
I do. I do wonder if at the end of the first movie they like on the plane to Genovia they enter some sort of like slipstream wormhole situation and just like land in another universe. And that's why everything is crazy in the second movie.
Jane
The castle that they see out the airplane window is completely different in the second movie.
Sophie
I do love it, in like a very campy removed from book and first movie reality way. But yeah it's it's not like… It's not the first one.
Jane
No, and it has a terrible script, like so many of the lines are so forced, and it's like, man, these actors were working really hard to sell this.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
Like, certain certain moments just, like, don't work at all. There are funny lines in the second one, but I just think the the first one… And I know that like a lot of the script of this movie was changed by Garry Marshall like while they were filming it. They talked about that in - oh, I should mention the commentary, because, while this commentary is not quite as iconic as Ella Enchanted I do… I have seen this a lot of times with the commentary with Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway having tea and Julie Andrews mostly just wants to talk about the tea, like the literal tea, not like spilling the metaphorical tea of the movie. She's just very excited about having tea. But Anne Hathaway, like, remembers the names of everybody and is, like, wants to give everybody credit for everything. But they talk a lot about how Garry Marshall would expect them to be, like, ready with the lines, but also ready to just like, chuck the entire script out on the day and be like, “No, actually now we're going to do it this way and say completely different lines.” And so a lot of it I think was… not exactly improvised, but sort of changed last minute, and if you watch other Garry Marshall movies, you can see that there's just so many things that he just likes to have in his movies that don't have anything to do with anything. And I think that's part of what makes this movie weird. And it's part of what makes it work too. I think that it feels more cohesive because it's so… there's the Garry Marshall trademark through it all. And that he had his children work on it and gave it sort of a family feel, I think really worked for this one.
Sophie
Yeah. Rosemary, I was saying to Jane that I need nepotism justice for Penny, because Penny is the only Marshall member that is not in this movie. And he mentioned in… I can't remember if it's the commentaries or like, one of the special features that he's like, “They wanted me to cast Penny as the queen and I said absolutely not.”
[all laugh]
Jane
That's got to be a joke, though. I don't think that anyone considered Penny Marshall for the queen, but that would be a hilarious movie. It'd be a very different movie, but it would be hilarious.
Sophie
Yeah. Well, Penny Marshall and actually Carrie Fisher in one of my favorite childhood books they did like a star-studded Emperor's New Clothes reading, and Penny Marshall and Carrie Fisher played the ladies in waiting, who are like very bitchy and talk about the queen behind her back. It's fantastic.
Jane
That sounds amazing.
Rosemary
Yeah, what role could Penny Marshall have played?
Sophie
That's a good question. They could have taken out the puppet and had Penny be the puppet instead. On strings.
Jane
But they didn't use the puppet thing at all. The person who says “Maybe it's string cheese” I believe is Garry Marshall's wife, so she- Penny could have just been one of those like background people.
Sophie
Yeah, she could have been at the state dinner.
Jane
She could have been the pear juggler.
Sophie
That would have been great.
Rosemary
Or one of the reporters.
Jane
Yeah, Suki- What's… Suki Sanchez?
Sophie
Suki Sanchez? Yeah.
Rosemary
No, we don't want to get rid of Suki Sanchez. I mean, one of the ones that were like, “I’m from Teen Scene Magazine!”
Jane
Oh yeah. OK.
Sophie
“She's wearing a grunge look.” No, she's just wet.
Jane
That is so funny. I love that moment. It's like, “She's styling a wet sort of grunge-look hairdo.” It's like yes.
Rosemary
“And is wearing a sweatshirt, jeans, and Docs.”
Jane
“…jeans and Docs.”
Rosemary
The important things.
Sophie
Yeah, I do, I do appreciate that the Docs are like the one thing that made it from book to movie. Because those are very important.
Rosemary
They are her trademark.
Jane
They mentioned in the commentary that like originally, that scene was going to be like very regal and she was going to be in her ball gown and stuff and they changed it so that they would have her looking like looking sort of… mot all put together and to show that her confidence was coming from within rather than from external things, but they still gave her a makeover. So like it was still partly external. I mean, OK, the makeover scene… I don't like makeover scenes in movies. There's too many of them. I will say this one is pretty good. Just because Larry Miller is hilarious: his weird like accent, and then his like, fake European language thing is just like-
Rosemary
“Brushka, Helga!”
Jane
Yeah. Like. Yeah, [imitates nonsense phrase]. Like, he just makes up stuff and it's just so silly and that, like his his little things that he says, like her eyebrows are named Frida and Kahlo. And it's like, really weird things. And so it's it's like not bad. But I also kind of wish that she hadn't had to have a makeover, and they could have just, like, left her hair as it was. I know… I know that her makeover is really to make her look more like Anne Hathaway, and she was like- Anne Hathaway had worn a wig and like fake eyebrows and stuff like that in her, like, earlier look. But I think it would have been really interesting to show like a quote unquote “ugly” person not having to change to be conventionally attractive and still being able to be empowered. But like of course, I'm not saying that they shouldn't have cast Anne Hathaway because she's great in this movie.
Sophie
Sure.
Jane
But at the same time, it's like, Anne Hathaway is also very conventionally attractive. So like, it would have been cool to have a like more not conventionally attractive looking person in this role, and just like, let her be who she is and look the way she looks. But that obviously wasn't what this movie was trying to do, but like that is one thing that that bothers me a little bit about it.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
She's also blonde in the books.
Jane
Yes.
Rosemary
Don't they give her a Pixie cut?
Sophie
Yeah, they cut- I think that's what Paolo's referencing when he says, “Next time a little shorter.” But yes, there's a very distinct reference in the book where she says her hair looks like an upside down yield sign because it's so it, like, here and then goes straight. You can't see me in the podcast, but I'm gesturing.
Jane
Yeah, it's like a triangle hair thing. I remember that being mentioned.
Rosemary
Yeah, I think about that a lot. Like,
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
Her yield sign hair.
Sophie
I feel like part of what makes the makeover scene work  - I I will agree with you, Jane. I think they give her way too much makeup for a 15-year-old, and then they just like the framing of it as like, she started out so hideous and then look what I… look what I made of this mess you gave me - is Paolo's, like you said, he's just so funny. He's so weird and a little gross, but like in an amusing sort of way. And she also seems to be… once they finish plucking her eyebrows, she seems to be really enjoying herself. She's got her Walkman. She's got cucumbers on her eyes. She's like, bopping to the music a little bit.
Jane
“The cucumber does nothing.”
Sophie
[laughing] Nothing.
Jane
Yeah, I don't object to it too much. It's just sort of the concept of…of makeovers is a little…
Speaker
Sophie
Jane
Obnoxious to me, but it it works. And I also think it's interesting because I believe from what I remember of the books, when she's exposed to the press in the books, it was actually the grandmother who told the press. And they changed it in the movie so that it was Paolo.
Sophie
“I, Paulo Puttanesca!”
Jane
That scene, just like, first of all, we also have to talk about Sandra Oh.
Sophie
Yes!
Rosemary
I was gonna bring her up too.
Jane
She, as the vice principal, Gupta, is so good. She's like only in it a little bit, but every moment she has is perfect. From the from the beginning, when she's like, “Morning, Lilly! …Lilly's friend.”
Sophie
Lilly’s friend!
Jane
And like but that scene when she like answers the phone with her iconic, “Gupta. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. The Queen is coming. To Grove High School.” It's so good. And then and then when the Queen shows up and she's like fawning over her and, like, imitating her gestures and then just like, she, like, gives her this teacup. And it's like, “I'm sorry, we don't have finer China.” And then she just, like, hands a paper cup to Helen, the mom.”
Sophie
Uh-huh. “Here!”
Jane
So good. And then when Joe brings Paolo in and they have their whole little like routine of like he keeps starting to go and Joe, like, pushes him back is- that scene is just… There's just so much comedy gold there. And it's like it's amazing.
Sophie
Well, yeah, so Larry Miller is in two of my favorite childhood movies that came out around the same time: this one and Best in Show.
Jane
Yeah. And he's also in Mighty Wind. And he-
Sophie
Right.
Jane
He's he sets up one of Jennifer Coolidge's best moments too, when, because he's the one that she has one- They have one brain between them. The two of them, so yes.
Sophie
Oh, OK. Yeah. So he just like… The difference between those two roles, but they're both equally funny and weird.
Jane
Yeah, yeah. Best in Show he's awful. Like, I mean, I guess he's awful in this too. Like, his character is. But in that one, he's just like openly flirting with a married woman and then his- oh yeah, his job is like to talk people down…
Sophie
Down off ledges, yes.
Jane
…who are going to jump off building, but he's terrible at it. And he's just like, “Oh, they always jump.”
Sophie
“Their eyes pop out like grapes!”
Jane
[laughs] Ah, he's so he's such a silly man.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
But yes, so I enjoy him. I enjoy Sandra Oh, a lot. I enjoy Kathleen Marshall. I think that her Charlotte is…
Sophie
So sweet.
Jane
…a very a great character. I also… Not that I want there to be more romances, but I really like the thing between Clarisse and Joe and how they… their dancing scene is kind of… it- it has moments that remind me of The Sound of Music with Christopher Plummer like their dancing scene. But I love when Charlotte comes in and is like about to say something and then sees they’re having a moment and just like backs away.
Sophie
Yep, I’ll go away now. Yeah
Jane
My other favorite Charlotte moment is when [laughs] when she's worried because Mia hasn't shown up at the ball at the end and Clarisse is like, “Is everything all right?” And she goes. “Everything's perfect. Perfect? It's wonderful!” “You're not very good at lying, are you, Charlotte?”
Sophie
“No I'm not.”
Jane
“No, I'm not, your Majesty.” Oh, it's so good. So good. There's just… I think that's ultimately… like, I mean the story overall is great and the acting is great and all that. But like, I think just all those little fun little moments are really what keeps me returning to this movie is it's just like there's so many fun little scenes like that.
Rosemary
“And that's enough pear juggling.”
Jane
Such a good- like, ah, there's just, yeah. It's just such a fun little movie.
Sophie
It's funny, you mentioned the- the dance scene because I was thinking about how… like sweet, that is when he says, “You've been wearing black for far too long.” And in comparison, I had no recollection of this line from Lilly, but she says to Mia, she says, “The guy died, what, two months ago? I thought you'd gotten over it already.” What are you talking about?
Rosemary
Her dad died 8 weeks ago and you're like, “You should move on.”
Sophie
Chop chop!
Jane
Well, but also, she'd never met her dad. So like…
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
True…
Jane
But also like I feel like that's also not a very long time to mourn your son? Because it's like…
Sophie
Right.
Jane
But I think that her husband died the previous year?
Sophie
Yeah, I think he's- I think he's referencing Rupert, not Phillipe.
Jane
“King Rupert, may he rest in peace.”
Sophie
“Rest in peace.”
Jane
That's from the second one though.
Sophie
I also didn't recall Pierre. I didn't recall there being a brother at all.
Jane
Oh yeah.
Sophie
Maybe he's not in the book, but…
Jane
Is he in the book?
Sophie
I don't remember him.
Jane
It's really like referenced, sort of offhandedly, like, “Oh yes, my my eldest Pierre wanted to abdicate and join the church.”
Sophie
Yeah
Jane
It's like, you have another kid?
Sophie
What?
Rosemary
Yeah.
Jane
Where's he? That… yeah, that was... I feel like that was kind of unnecessary.
Sophie
Yeah, there are a lot of changes that I feel like they really didn't need to make. Like Mr. G in the book is an algebra teacher, Helen’s boyfriend. And now all of a sudden, he's Mr. O'Connell and teaches debate, but also coaches baseball, but also teaches English?
Rosemary
Is just always there.
Jane
They have like four teachers in the school and they're just all in every class.
Sophie
There's Coach Harbula, there’s Vice Principal Gupta, and there's Mr. O'Connell and maybe there's one other person floating around.
Rosemary
The choir teacher.
Sophie
Oh, yes. Yes okay.
Jane
In the scene when when Mia puts the ice cream on Lana and Gupta’s like, “Oh, I was in a very important meeting,” it's just the four of them.
Speaker
It's just them having lunch.
Jane
Like, that's the entire staff of the- of the school.
Sophie
Of Grove High School.
Rosemary
“Lana got coned! Lana got coned!”
Jane
I was so confused by the “Lana got coned” chant for a long time.
Rosemary
Yes.
Jane
Because I couldn't tell what they were saying. And I was like, is that a thing?
Rosemary
I know!
Jane
Or is that just like, what people would have just decided to call this?
Sophie
It's the early 2000s, as opposed to late 2000s equivalent of getting slushied I guess. It's just something that happens in high schools with mean kids. I don't know. I also, speaking of not being able to understand what people are saying, for my entire life until this rewatch, I thought, Fontana said after the debate situation, I thought she said to Mia, “I thought you were speaking at the Believe It convention.”
Speaker
OK, I thought that was just me!
Sophie
It’s bulimic.
Jane
Yeah!
Sophie
Which makes so much more sense, but I was like… what? Who? What is this? Is this something that I should know about?
Rosemary
Oh, the Believe It? What?
Jane
Yeah, that's what I heard too.
Rosemary
No!
Jane
Because she's like, “Is it true you're speaking at the Believe It convention?” and-
Rosemary
No!
Jane
Yeah, okay.
Sophie
Like I can’t believe it.
Rosemary
It’s definitely “bulimic.”
Jane
Well, yes, that does make a lot more sense. But yeah, no, I couldn't understand that for a long time too. OK. I'm glad it's not just me. I thought once I figured out what they were saying, I was like...
Sophie
Yeah, that makes a lot more sense.
Jane
Of course, that's what they're saying, but OK, yes.
Rosemary
I was definitely… it was one of the more recent rewatch is when I realized she was saying “a yachting yahoo.” I thought she was just saying “a yada yahoo.”
Jane
Ohh yeah, I thought that for at first for a while too. OK. Do you remember? I I have no clue when this was, but we used to have a computer in the basement and it didn't- It wasn't connected to the internet, we just used it for like writing papers and stuff?
Sophie
Typing and stuff, yeah.
Jane
And it would have… we made it so that the screen saver was like word art. And we… it was like, the showers upstairs didn't work, so we would always shower in the basement and we walk by this computer and like every time we would walk by, we would change the screensaver to the next line from that scene when Lilly and Mia are fighting and playing basketball, like that scene. So I just remember, like we would just, we quoted that whole scene in the screen saver on that computer for no reason just because it was a fun thing to do.
Rosemary
Yeah!
Sophie
That that very much tracks with what I know of your childhood and your relationship.
Jane
Yes. So I still think about that computer whenever I think about that scene.
Sophie
That’s funny.
Jane
But I'm I'm not sure if we wrote “yachting yahoo” or if we wrote, “yada yahoo.”
Rosemary
Yeah, I don't know. I also need to mention that I was a youth that kept a diary pretty faithfully, and there is a section of a diary that I had around that time where I was like, “I can't believe I keep saying the word ‘I.’ I should think about other people!” And it was because I was like, inspired by Mia Thermopolis's speech. But it was like, it's so funny. There’s this little section of like 12-year-old me being like, “I need to stop saying ‘I.’” Like it was just a new thought that had occurred to me.
Sophie
Sure. That's… that's sad and cute at the same time.
Jane
Yes.
Rosemary
So what else do we need to cover?
Sophie
Well, I definitely want to mention the soundtrack, which I think is one of my favorite parts of this movie. I think I… I mean, I've seen the movie a zillion times and like, had the VHS and the DVD, but I also had the CD and I must have listened to the CD until it was like, so scratched beyond belief. Every song is so good.
Rosemary
Mm-hmm.
Jane
Yeah. I remember we got the CD from the library a few times, but we never owned it. We had the Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack.
Rosemary
Yeah.
Sophie
Also good, but not quite as good.
Jane
I was just so excited about Julie Andrews singing again. So like…
Sophie
Yes. That is my favorite song from the second movie.
Jane
Yeah, definitely. Not sure why Raven’s there, but you know, it's still a great song.
Sophie
She has to do some sort of hippity hoppity for the youth. They they won't they won't last doing the… just Julie Andrews doing like a musical style number.
Jane
“But I don’t know how to do this sort of thing.”
Rosemary [overlapping with Jane]
“I don’t know how to do this.”
[all laugh]
Jane
Oh man, anyway, but yes, the the soundtrack for the original movie, which is what we're supposed to be talking about, is really good. There's so many great songs on it, and I really I- it's super random, but I really enjoy Mandy Moore singing “Stupid Cupid.” I don't really know why she sings it there in the movie, but like it's great.
Sophie
It's a weird song to have in that scene. It's weird that she sings it, but I'm so glad she does.
Jane
I also really enjoy that Anna and Fontana are there as backup singers, but their mouths never move. They're just like doing a dance. And like you hear the like background vocals, but they are not singing.
Sophie
They're not lip syncing. Yeah, I will say Mandy did not lip sync that scene particularly well. But her outfit is good enough to where it doesn't even matter. Her polka dot skirt is incredible.
Rosemary
And the like uni-boob tank top sweater.
Sophie
Yeah, the the halter sweater with the handkerchief hem. Oh my gosh, it's very Y2K.
Rosemary
It's exactly what I would wear to the beach.
Sophie
Sure. And platform flip flops.
Rosemary
I also need to confess something that as a child when this movie came out, whatever, I was very confused because I thought that Mandy Moore and Marilyn Monroe were the same person. And so I was so confused because I like knew that Marilyn Monroe… like I wasn't 100% sure who she was, but I knew she was like an icon and that like she was in Princess Diaries, cause it was like an alliterative M name, and I totally like was like, I don't know, it's got to be Marilyn Monroe. And then like… finding out more about Marilyn Monroe as I got older and then I was like…. I don't think that's Marilyn Monroe...
[all laugh]
Jane
I think she's very dead.
Sophie
I don’t think so.
Rosemary
I don't think it's the same person, but I’m not sure.
Sophie
It could be, but I'm not quite sure.
Jane
That's amazing.
Rosemary
But I remember being very confused about Mandy Moore and Marilyn Monroe in that movie.
Jane
That's amazing.
Sophie
That’s really cute.
Jane
One thing that I think is really interesting that I didn't quite pick up on until more recent rewatches is like just speaking of the whole beach thing: They're taking pictures of a 15-year-old in a state of undress and publishing them in tabloids. And it's seen as the 15-year-old's fault.
Sophie
Mm-hmm.
Rosemary
It's horrible.
Jane
It's it's terrible and like it's supposed to be bad. And you're like, supposed to think like, oh, it's- I feel bad for her, but I hadn't quite absorbed how awful that is. And it's like, I mean, that does happen, stuff like that. And it's like it's her fault when it very much was not for several reasons. But I just, it's just like, struck me as so much more disturbing to be like, OK, we're gonna have this undressed teenager that we took pictures of without her consent and blame her for it, and that was upsetting to me when I was just realizing that. But I also think that the scene when Clarisse confronts Mia about that is really well done. I think that they like, hit those emotional beats really well, and just like that, that she's really disappointed in her. But like Mia handles it well. And then I love when Joe comes in and sort of says, like “You were too harsh on her” and that they managed to slip in some levity with her with that moment of, like, “Her friends didn't help- Anna, Banana… Montana.” And I love that. And then that like, that's the moment when Clarisse says, “I have no idea what you're talking about” is great. But I also think it's like such a good point of, like, the thing. About like, “As a queen, I was too critical of the person who could become the next ruler of my country.” And he says, “No. As a grandmother, you were too harsh on your granddaughter.” And then that she takes that into the scene when they're in Mia's house talking about giving the speech or whatever, but she says, like, “I am first and foremost your grandmother.” And then that great moment when she hugs her and then just kind of goes, “Ah! I- I did it! I hugged someone!” is so great because she's been so emotionally distant and yeah. I just, I think that they really like they… they Julie Andrews-ified the queen but they didn't like make her completely like… soft and lovable. I mean, I guess it's kind of Mary Poppins too, where she's like, standoffish, but then also like sweet underneath.
Rosemary
But she's definitely not Maria von Trapp.
Jane
No.
Sophie
Correct.
Jane
She has to go through a journey too. Like the queen goes through a journey as well as Mia, and they go through very different journeys but kind of meet up at the end. And it's also just really nice that Clarisse still believed that Mia could do it and, like, had a tiara ready for her, even though she said she was going to step down and like… The whole end part of the movie just really pays off and I think that their relationship arc, the grandmother/granddaughter relationship is really… a great central story to this whole thing. Like it's like, yeah, it's about a girl who finds out she's a Princess, but it's also about, like, becoming connected with her estranged grandmother, who also needs some connection in her life. And I think that that's very well done.
Sophie
Yeah, I totally agree.
Jane
Mia's dad is dead, but we see, like pictures of him and one like flashback and that is Anne Hathaway's actual father. The voice is not. But they were going to use pictures of him, but then the scene with- when he's writing the note in the diary, they were just going to have somebody else wearing a wig to look like his hair, but then he happened to be in San Francisco for unrelated reasons while they were filming there. So they just, like, got him writing the letter. So that's kind of fun.
Sophie
That’s so cute.
Rosemary
I think another thing that this movie does well is like, adults taking teenagers seriously.
Jane
Oh yeah.
Rosemary
And like listening to them like… Mia and her mom had, like, real conversations together, and her mom doesn't just like, brush her off and be like, well, you're just a dumb teenager. Like her mom, like takes things to heart. And, you know, when she's like, “How could you lie to me for 15 years? I don't feel protected,” like her mom, like, takes that and it's like, this is where we're at now, and let's see what we can do to move forward. And then again when Mia’s like, “I can't believe you're dating my teacher!” She's like… she actually apologizes to her.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
And like when even like… the premise of the Mia has to hit a baseball to pass gym class is stupid, but like I even really like that gym teacher because she's just like, “I'm rooting for you.” And like…
Sophie
Yeah, I love Coach Harbula.
Rosemary
Mm-hmm.
Sophie
She, like… without like compromising her… like Mia says, “I can't do this. I'm a girl” and she's like... “Hello!”
Jane
“What am I, a duck?”
Sophie
“What am I, a duck?” Yeah. Which is hilarious when in the bonus features, you see that actor make duck noises and various other sound effects, which she's fantastic at. But yeah, she's very supportive while like being like, “You, you got to do this thing. I know it's hard.” Then she does it, and she's so proud of her at the end, which is really nice. And you know, having Josh get hit in the balls is… not a downside in the slightest.
Jane
I also think it's really funny that nobody else in the outfield can possibly pick up the ball. Just like, “You have to get up and throw it. We can't come over and find it.” Like I think that’s really funny.
Sophie
Well, one kid, one kid is on the phone with his mom about the dentist, so it couldn't be him. And then-
Jane
Bobby Bad.
Sophie
Twelve girls are doing some sort of cheerleading routine, so it couldn't be them.
Jane
Why- OK. But also like, why is the entire staff there? Because like Gupta-
Rosemary
Mr. O'Connell have picked up the ball.
Sophie
I know!
Jane
Yeah. Like, why was he there in the gym class? Why is Gupta coaching the cheerleaders? Like it's just like it's... I don't know. OK, two things that I was gonna say. One thing: going back to the mom relationship. I love when after the like beach fiasco, the mom says like, “My mom always told me not to cry and like to be strong. But you've been hurt. So you just cry.” And like I think that's so great. It's like, yeah, feel your feelings. Let's encourage girls to to feel their feelings and not shame them for being upset when upsetting things happen. And the other thing going way back to when we were talking about why the teacher changes from algebra to the like, debate teacher, because in the books Mia is really bad at math and then like her mom’s dating her math teacher. But I think that it really… it contributed to the arc to have her like, have this fear of public speaking and then like going into being a Princess where like you have to do a lot of public speaking and like that, adding to the reason of like, why not only why she doesn't want to be a Princess, but why she doesn't even want to show up to abdicate the throne. Like she's going to run away to Colorado in a car that doesn't run. That seems like a good plan.
Rosemary
Without a driver's license.
Jane
Yeah.
Sophie
With the cat!
Jane
With the cat, yeah!
Sophie
She's gonna take the cat to go rock climbing. And you can tell Fat Louie is like, first of all, this is a terrible idea. Second of all, please do not bring me into this. I want to live in my warm firehouse, OK, with my crazy artist mom. Do not take me to the rocks.
Jane
Yes. But anyway. So yeah, I think that that might have been part of why they decided to make the teacher that the mom ends up with be the debate teacher. So they could show that- set it up really early.
Rosemary
Yeah, it's definitely like easier to show being bad at debate in a movie than it is to be like “I am bad at algebra.” Like…
Jane
Yeah.
Sophie
Well, yeah. And it's, it's also like it's not Mean Girls where she has to solve the equation at the end of the movie for the big finish. It’s like she has to make this speech.
Rosemary [overlapping]
Make a speech.
Sophie
Right.
Jane
Yeah, it's like it's not that she's found out she's like inheriting a math thing like, “You… you have… you have to be the head of the math department because of who your father was” or something. It's like, “Oh, no, but I'm bad at math!”
Sophie
Yeah. That's hilarious.
Jane
So yeah, so I think that it works. I do think it's weird that they changed his name but…whatever
Sophie
Hmm-hmm. I don't know, maybe there are more Irish people than Italians in San Francisco, which I don't think is true, but-
Jane
They changed it to San Francisco just so they could have the scene where she, like, goes down the hill and runs into a trolley. Like, that- which is a great scene, by the way, but like-
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
It's like it doesn't really have anything to do with the story. I guess I guess it shows the queen in action, which it's a little bit of like showing that royalty can get away with stuff that other people can't. But I just think it's just so great to show that the queen can like...
Sophie
She's loosening up a little bit. Yeah, I mean, you, first of all, get the nuns calling 911 and they're busy and they say, “For the love of God,” which is hilarious, iconic. Then you get the Order of the Rose and then at the end, she says “Goodbye trolley people.”
Jane
And you get the, “Does anybody have a Saber?” “I've got an umbrella!” Which I love. I love, first of all, like, of course, everyone's carrying around a Saber, and then just like “I've got an umbrella” and she's like, “uhh…” “Well, I have an emergency brake!” “This will do nicely,” so great. And then and then I love that the trolley driver and the police officer show up at the ball at the end with little like things like they got an official badge.
Sophie
With their medals, yeah. So cute.
Jane
Yeah, it's like, oh, yes, they- let's make the Order of the Rose a real thing. And, and also Anne Hathaway's “Oh- OH OOOOHHH!” is so well done. Like, every moment of that scene is just great.
Sophie
Yeah, 100%.
Rosemary
I think going back to adults taking teens seriously and paying attention to them, I think another really good example of that is Joe.
Sophie
Mm-hmm.
Jane
Oh yeah.
Rosemary
And the ways that he, like, pays attention to Mia and like he encourages her, like, when Lilly has a negative reaction to her like getting a makeover. And he's just like, you're going to be OK. And then what we already talked about when he, like, goes… when Clarissa was like, “Was I too hard on her?” and he was like, “Yeah, you were.” I really like the ways that Joe is like a safe adult for her. And like is a really good bodyguard sort of person.
Sophie
Yeah, he won't let her take the flags off the limo, but he will quote Eleanor Roosevelt to her and put up the divider screen so she can put on pantyhose in the back seat.
Jane
Well, and he won't let her call him Joey.
Sophie
Right. But he'll go and buy her high heels.
Rosemary
He went and got her the pantyhose and the high heels.
Sophie
Yeah.
Rosemary
And like, he seems like he knows what's going on. Also when he's like, “with the beach friends” and like knowing that they're like, ridiculous and mean to her and like… Yeah, I think... I think that that is another reason why this movie was so like… comforting as a child and teen to watch because you're like, “my problems do matter,” and like “adults do care about teens” kind of thing. I think that there's that sense of it that really makes it a comforting movie and like… I hope that all teenagers have aJoe in their life, or a Clarisse, or a Helen or a Coach Harbula, or Charlotte, or, you know? The way that that Mia has these supportive people in her life that aren't even necessarily related to her. It's a really nice portrayal of that.
Sophie
Yeah.
Jane
Yeah.
Sophie
I totally agree.
Jane
Anything else that we desperately want to add? I mean, there's so much more that I could say about this movie, but uh, I don't want to just go on and on forever. I think that that that we've covered a lot of the important things about it.
Sophie
Maybe we can release our own deleted scenes at some point.
[Jane and Rosemary laugh]
Sophie
With puppets.
Rosemary
And bananas?
Sophie
Yes.
Jane
The deleted scenes are very interesting. I think that they did a great job of figuring out what to delete and what to keep.
Rosemary
A great job of deleting them.
Sophie
Yes.
Jane
Yeah. Because a lot of times like you, you see deleted scenes and you're like, “Oh, this could have been in the movie.” I mean, I guess the one I I do think it would have been nice to see Mia and Michael having pizza together.
Sophie
Mm-hmm.
Jane
Because it is a little odd that the pizza is so important at the end, and they've just like kind of mentioned it once in a throwaway line right before “Wait up. Wait for me! Not you. I don't even know you!” which is amazing and I love it so much. We haven't talked enough about Lilly I don't think. But she is a great character.
Sophie
Mm-hmm.
Jane
I feel like very often in movies where there's like a best friend, the best friend is just kind of there to like be a sidekick and I think Lilly Moskovitz is no one’s sidekick and she, like, is doing her best to make a difference in the world. And then, like finds out that her friend actually might have the means to really make a difference. And like, calls her out when she's like, “Yeah, you absolutely can do this.” But she's like Lilly's not perfect. Like, she gets really jealous of Mia. And so I think that that she's a very complex character. And I really like the way that she's portrayed.
Sophie
Yeah, I think if we were talking about the second movie we could say more because I think Lilly is a more active participant in the sequel, but we do get the great scene of her trying to vamp while she has Jeremiah on Shut Up and Listen. And you know that is one of the major conflicts is like Mia’s ditching all her friends for this, you know, popularity that she thinks she wants and then it turns out that that's not actually what's going to make her happy.
Jane
It's so wild to me that she doesn't even tell Lilly that she's going on a date with Josh. Like it… it seems like that would be something that you would tell your best friend, even if you forgot that you were supposed to be doing something with them. It's almost like, did Mia forget? Or was she, like, intentionally avoiding her because she- I mean, I know there was the whole thing earlier in the film when when Lilly's like, “Jerk and jerkette sighting” and like, Lilly does never like Josh, so I guess that could have been part of it too, but it's like at least she tells Michael that she's not showing up for their date, whereas like she doesn't even tell Lilly she's not going to be on her show.
Sophie
Yeah, I do think there could have been some sort of mention like “I can't tell Lilly what I'm doing because she's gonna judge me and like, she's gonna be even more mad if I, you know, tell her I'm I'm going to the party with Josh than if I just, like, didn't show up.” But…
Jane
Yeah, but she doesn't even… it's like she forgot about Lilly completely.
Sophie
Right.
Jane
Like it's like I'm not thinking about Lilly at all. And it's like… interesting to show her kind of starting to go off into this direction of like, “I'm going to be a mean popular kid” and then just like, totally failing at it and being like, “You know, that wasn't me. I totally messed up.” The movie does a good job of showing you how to take responsibility for when you mess up and then like showing, but you don't have to take responsibility for everything. Cause like not all the stuff that happened at the beach was Mia's fault, and it's portrayed as unreasonable that like people get so upset at her about that, but also like some of the stuff she did was bad, like she ditched her best friend and like showing her take responsibility for that, apologize, try and make amends for both Lilly and Michael, I I think I just think that's done really well. And I think that that's a good message to be giving to kids of like, you do need to take responsibility for the stuff that is your fault.
Sophie
And when she does apologize, she never like demands that she be forgiven. Like she says to Lilly on the roof, she's like, “I hope you can forgive me.”
Jane
Mm-hmm.
Sophie
She doesn't like expect that that's automatically going to come just because she said she's sorry, which I think is really cool.
Jane
Yeah and I love Lilly’s response of, “But what will I wear?” And she's just like, “Oh, I'm so glad you're gonna come!” And it's it's just a really sweet moment.
Sophie
And I will, I will say when she hugs Lilly after Lilly says she's going to come to the party, her foot does pop.
Jane
Yes it does. I I noted that as well.
Sophie
So it's not just, it's not just a romantic thing. It's for any kind of love.
Jane
Yeah. And again, that's… what I do really like about this movie is that they focus on a lot of different kinds of love, a lot of different deep relationships with different people, and I think they do a really good job of developing many of them and that's really great.
Sophie
I love this movie.
Jane
Ah, me too.
Rosemary
I do too. Well, thanks for… thanks for having me on to talk about it again.
Jane
Yes, I'm so glad to have both of you back.
Sophie
I'm so glad we got to talk about it. The three of us, that was fun.
Jane
Yes! So uh… thank you so much for being here and I… don't know how to wrap this up.
Rosemary
Miracles happen.
Sophie
“Thank you for being here today.”
Jane
“Thank you for being here today.” Yes. Oh, that's another great moment that I must mention when Joe is, like, so committed to pretending to drive the car that he even like puts the parking brake on before getting up. So great. Anyway, “thank you for being here today.” I love this movie. I love both of you and I'm so glad that we did this.
Sophie
Me too.
Rosemary
“Goodbye trolley people!”
[all laugh]
Jane
Ah, that was so fun. Thank you to Sophie and Rosemary for that lovely chat, and thank you audience for listening! This will be my final guest episode; my top six are so personal that it feels right to just talk about them myself. The next two episodes will be the final tie on my list, featuring the two movies that I watched 31 times. Coincidentally, one of them is the oldest movie in my entire top 40, and the other is the newest. The newest movie is also the shortest movie on the list, so I’ll be talking about that first. As always, I will leave you with a quote from that next movie: “First off, I work alone. Always have, always will. Second, take a hike. I don’t touch Hollywood cases. Not since… The War.”

I saw a post in the rina tag that they’re only happening now because Olivia rodrigo left. I know it’s just pws & rinis being salty but is it actually true? They’ve never been platonic, and they’ve always had something between them that’s been waiting to be explored and to me they always felt like the slowburn endgame?? But if Olivia wasn’t leaving do you think they’d still be happening?
Honestly I think there is no actual merit to rina happening just because Olivia left. To me (and many people may disagree with this) they have been written as a slowburn endgame ship from episode 1 of season 5.
Tim has talked about the Rina relationship from season 1 and always talked about writing towards their chemistry. I also recall an early interview with Tim about wanting to show that first loves don't always work out (although it is difficult to track down right now as I can't remember which publication the interview was with).
Plus Tim has always talked about Dawson's Creek as one of his biggest inspirations and done so in conjunction with the Rina ship. Anyone who has watched Dawson's Creek can see clear as day that Ricky = Joey, Nini = Dawson and Gina = Pacey in regards to the love triangle.
Here is an excerpt from a season 1 interview I think says a lot:
I mean, I grew up with Dawson's Creek, so I guess my non-spoiler way of answering that is I look to TV history and storytelling tradition to say not only how do I get the most seasons, but how do I surprise audience members with who they're going to ship? To what you said, I remember when Gina kissed Ricky's cheek at the end of the homecoming episode. The initial reaction was like, he better not fall for Gina. And literally one episode later, half the internet erupted with like, Gina and Ricky for life. So, I think what I would mostly ask the audience to do is A: patience grasshopper. These things will unfold and probably surprise you. And B: always remember the actors themselves do not write the roles and don't confuse the actors with the characters.

Okay so I saw someone talking about how they were gonna rewatching the series to get ready for season 3 and I realized that there are 22 days until season 3 and 22 episodes. So I've decided to watch 1 episode a day and air my thoughts out on here because I can't contain all my hatred of Nini is my little body or else I would explode.
So if you hate Nini too, please come with me on this journey.
Next part
Season 1 ep 1 thoughts:
I never realized that it's Ricky and big Red who skate past Miss Jenn in the beginning
✨️✨️✨️Gina walking past the camera✨️✨️✨️
Why is Kourtney all like "you know who"? what does she have against Ricky?
Okay so Nini understood it was a pause, then why did she not actually break up with him before she started dating EJ. I swear this girls acts like she can do no wrong
Then she gets mad at him for wanting clarification on that she GOT ANOTHER BOYFRIEND when they were on a break
And then she's like well of course I got another boyfriend, you didn't tell me you loved me back and it's not like you have issues about telling people you love them that I as one of the main people you confided in should know about and it's not like I at all put you in an uncomfortable position by posting a video on Instagram where everyone can see instead of telling you in person especially since it's the first time
I'm starting to remember why I hate Nini so much. They're meant to be childhood bestfriends but she so clearly doesn't care about him at all
Nini you have to break up with your ex before you get another boyfriend
How about Kourtney you start with dismantling the sassy black friend trope
Gina watching everything unfold in the background❤️❤️❤️
Nini why don't you just keep everyone on the same page as shit goes down
Ashlyn and Seb are sitting next to each other in the gym
Why are they not having the back to school announcements in the auditorium?
I love how you can see all the recurring characters in the background before they get introduced
"Triggered as a millennial" 😮‍💨 I'm also remembering why I hate Miss Jenn
Also does Ricky not know what a millennial is, he says that Okay boomer joke later
Other than yeah the lead is fun, why does Nini want to be Gabriella so much
Mr.Mazzara is the best
Again Nini is supposed to be this super insecure, "I could never be the lead girl" but she has a friend who's only purpose is to cheer her on and a popular jock boyfriend who constantly reminds her how great she is
And then we never see the water polo boys again
She was crushed but then she also immediately got a boyfriend, and maybe the reason he wanted a break was because she never cared about his feelings. I'm sorry I just can't feel bad for you
Also Nini not seeing how lucky she is to have a friend who really only supports her and doesn't seem to want anything back
You know one day Ricky, you could be the one dating EJ Caswell
NINI IS THE MAIN PERSON HE GOES TO FOR ADVICE BUT SHE DIDN’T EVEN FUCKING CARE ABOUT HOW TELLING HIM SHE LOVED HIM OVER SOCIAL MEDIA MIGHT MAKE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE OF HIS HOME ISSUES. Why are we supposed to root for her
This is the thing, the only part of Nini's life that is not the best a teenager could possibly get is that she doesn't get lead roles. And we never get any reason for it. Maybe it was a her growing into her voice kinda thing
This show doesn't understand "show don't tell" we're told that she feels like she doesn't deserve to be heard but then we constantly see people supporting her and posting nice comments on her Instagram and saying how amazing she is. Just give us anything that this insecurity could come from
Also that's reading into the dream way too much, she just worried to screw up what she wants the most
The cut from Nini's happy, supportive family to Ricky’s dad just trying to do his best 🥲
Noooo someone give Ricky a hug
Wait did Nini seriously post a photo basically saying she's gonna get the lead. You can't say she's insecure then make her do that. I would get EJ doing that but if you look it's Nini's Insta
Sure Big Red, that's why you know so much about HSM. It's definitely not because you started hyperfixating on it but you refused to actually watch it because you didn't want to give into the hyperfixation and you were worried people would laugh at you for talking about it because it wasn't the stuff you normally watched so instead you slowly google the plot of it on incognito tabs until you finally give in and obsess over it for the next year
I love how Ricky impulsively decided to do the musical and now he can't be stopped
How does this school have so many computers
Also Mr. Mazzara calling all the students by their last names
Kourtney is literally doing Nini's makeup with EJ tells her how amazing she is. This girl literally has everything, why do they try to present her as the underdog
✨️✨️✨️Gina's dancing✨️✨️✨️
Also Gina's outfit, her hair, the way she looks at Carlos like "Yeah you want me as the lead"
I miss this Gina
Why are we supposed to hate her for being like "I've never been an understudy" when Nini went and posted that her and EJ are going to be the leads on Insta. Like at least Gina was stating a solid fact instead of just being overly cocky
The way that she holder her head uo and her winged eyeliner
Why does Ricky have a CD. Also I love the Ricky and Mr. Mazzara dynamic but we may never see them together again 😢
"I'm dying. I'm deceased. Yes" what the fuck did they think they were doing with this.
Also what was Ashlyns outfit. She had such a glow up between the first and 3rd season
Gina putting the WORK in
Why is she even telling them what part she wants them to play. I guess some students would want to know what they have the best shot at but it just seems like it's going to make students feel like they can't do the part they actually want to do. Is that a thing that they actually do in high school musicals? Why can't they just say the part they want to audition for
What is on the walls of this school? "Free hair cut", a sign pointing the opposite way Ricky is going saying that's where the auditorium is
Someone give Gina a hug and tell her that she's amazing no matter what
Then Nini's British accent thing was never brought up again
How did she not understand that "temporary pause" meant they aren't broken up
Aww, Ricky’s mom being away again
And she can't even fucking stick to instructions
Why the fuck is Ricky spilling his Family issues out to everyone who's auditioning to be in a musical
Big Red giving Ricky his guitar
Carlos looking at Ricky like wtf is he doing is season 1 to Carlos helping Ricky figure out he's be in season 3
Nini, you don't get to be mad at Ricky for not telling you he loved you back when you knowingly pit him in an awkward situation or for him wanting to take a pause because it would be hard to try to keep your relationship up when your away when he's probably really fucking tired of trying to keep his relationship with him mom up from away which you should know if you ever cared about him
Also "confusing things" he was sharing his side of the story. Which you would have already known if you ever payed attention when he talked to you about his issues which we know he did
I don't like her
NINI ISN'T A FUCKING UNDERDOG MISS JENN. IF ANYTHING GINA'S THE UNDERDOG, SHE'S AT A NEW SCHOOL, DOESN'T KNOW ANYONE, AND HAS A PRETTY SHITTY HOME LIFE COMPARED TO "HAS IT ALL" NINI
God I fucking hate all Time Fedrle
Gina I'm sorry baby, you deserved it. Maybe you're really made more for a dancing role but I guess HSM doesn't have many dancers
But she still congratulates Nini like a boss. I could never and that's why I look up to her like a god
"Chad, she thinks I'm a chad"
Wait was Chad not a different role you had to audition for. What was the point of her separating them if she's just going to give Chad to a Troy. (wait is there an actual reason for her doing this?)
I love how Big Red just stands there shocked like what happened?
Seb being happy about Sharpey in the background
The "shit" didn't used to be beeped did it?
Sometimes I wonder why this is my special interest if I hate the main character so much, but my brain works in mysterious ways.

Silverstone with some delay 😅
I'm finally back, bitches!
Tumblr media
First of all, I'M DEAD. Second of all, Marina was broadcasting everything that was going on in the race while I was waiting to die (of boredom, cold, impatience... you name it, you can choose), and that's how my phone died luckily at the end of the concert, but... WHY THE FUCK DID I HAVE TO MISS THIS ONE!?
So I've started watching the race today at the airport because I obviously needed to see for myself. If it had been a boring one maybe I would've passed on it until Thursday or even Friday that I'm actually free, but not this time. I needed to see this ASAP after all I've read and all I've seen since yesterday.
First things first, I knew about Zhou's crash the moment it happened, both from Twitter accounts I follow and from Marina. I was horrified and when I saw the video.... Chills run down my spine, and the cold wasn't helping. I wasn't calm until I knew he was okay. Now I've seen it again and... still horrible to see, honestly. Good thing they have the halo. Like seriously, he wouldn't have made it if it hadn't been for the halo... And George. Oh my Giorgio, that fast thinking just stopping the car and running towards Zhou to check if he was okay, he must have seen he was conscious before moving away I guess. That right there is human quality.
Tumblr media
The worried faces while the race was red flagged.... And at the same time Zhou, Pierre and Giorgio crashed, Ocon, Albon and Yuki I believe crashed too, and Albon had to be taken to the medical centre too. Good thing they're all okay, because it looked nasty all over.
After the restart (I'm running on low energy atm so as to remember much from what I've watched before arriving "home"), I've noticed Verstappen having some troubles with the car 😬 Scuderia Clowneria doing a terrible job at taking care of Sharl, who is still the one driver of the team at the top in comparison to the other AHEM, Yuki and Pierre having a little dust up, Ocon losing the car (which the Alpine mechanics managed to save - more or less, that is - after his own crash at the very start of the race), our Birthday Boy passing Verstappen with a very, very elegant move (which I enjoyed immensely), Lewis vibin' setting fastest lap over and over and over and over again, with that tractor, Kevin and Mick inside the points!!!!!!!!!! I mean, whoa. I know how this ends, but I'm so over the moon watching it happen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, Pérez getting Driver of the Day? Really? He did NOTHING of substance until the restart after the Safety Car, where he was close to Lewis, otherwise he's done absolutely nothing in the whole race. Yes, the battle between him and Lewis has been nice to watch, but that's about the only thing Checo did.
Now I have to say THE BALLS LECLERC HAS. He's afraid of nothing, he's faced Checo without moving an inch. AND NOW LEWIS PASSES BOTH LECLERC AND CHECO. Whoa whoa whoa, THAT WAS COLD AS FUCK. Spanish commentators shouting that Alonso is right there going after Lewis (big surprise) and he can't even get close 😂 I mean guys, don't be sad please, he can't, he never could.
Now I'm watching my dear Sharl and Lewis fighting. Isn't this beautiful? Focus on them instead of Carlos, that's perfect. I'm enjoying this so fucking much, this is just spectacular. My brilliant boys 🥲 This shows how Lewis isn't the problem, same as Charles. They both fought tooth and nail against each other turn after turn without even touching, they came really close to each other, but they kept it clean and elegant like the gentlemen they are. And that, ladies and gentlemen, THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE.
AND MICK, OH MY DARLING MICK!!!!! That Schumacher killer instinct is there, I knew it was!!!!!!!! He was so damn close and he was doing such an amazing job making Verstappen nervous with a Haas! So well deserved, Mick, this is just the beginning ♥️ HE'S SAYING EXCUSE MY SWEARING ON THE RADIO, I'M DEAD! HEARING HIM TALKING IN GERMAN WITH GÜNTHER AND GINA 🥲
Tumblr media
It's a real shame that after Lobato said that Carlos had already won before even crossing the line nothing happened to make that impossible. Another time maybe. I'm watching the interviews before the podium ceremony and I still can't see the impressiveness of Checo today. I could maybe see it in previous races, but not in this one tbh.
Lewis hugging Tom Cruise like it's another day at the office. This man 😂 And people still try to talk about him like he's nothing to this sport and he's friends with half of Hollywood and 3/4 of the rest of important people anywhere. They can still try, yet he's still better than the rest combined 🤣 And I've also seen Damian Lewis there!! I love that man, how can he be so gorgeous, how's that even possible?
Tumblr media
I'm honestly impressed guys. Even knowing what happened yesterday, this was fantastic. This weekend I'll probably watch Saturday and Sunday after work, but maybe not, so we'll see. At least I'll watch on the actual day 😂
I'm off to bed finally, since I'm back to work tomorrow afternoon (I don't want to, I hate this) and back to being a responsible adult.
See you on the weekend, babies. Peace out!

I staid on Twitter because of Squaddies. Here's how I got addicted to some Squaddie pages…
Raw honesty:
Discovered Meg because I looked up different Black Women or mixed with Black Women actresses, her name came up. That was back in 2013 or 2014.
I also like Gina Torres. Noticed she was on the show Suits.
I do not like law shows so did not watch Suits.
Learned Harry was dating a biracial. Was shocked he was allowed. Did not think of it much because been know the royals are a bunch of colonizing racists and did not think they would let him marry any POC at all. I really thought they would discourage him from dating her. I also truly believed it was some kind of secret, hidden, or unwritten rule the royal family do not date or marry POCs, especially if they are senior royals.
Did look up Meg to learn more about her, noticed her Tig, looked at some posts. Let it go.
I do not fan follow any celeb, at all, even ones I really like, though I can't name any celeb I like that much. I let it go.
Heard about and read the letter Harry sent to press to lay off her and stop being prejudice. Wowsiers, sounded serious, this may not be just a regular girlfriend after all.
Then heard they were engaged. Shooketh. Only because could not believe he was allowed. I knew from decades ago that the UK Monarch must approve of all royal marriages. Yet Meg can pass as ethnic white or non-black, wonder if she was brown or darker if he would be allowed to marry her.
Still I thought, Harry is such a rebel.
I remember many years ago when I learned Harry was dating a White Woman from Africa and I thought, he went all the way to Black Africa and found a White Woman to date? And now I had to hush myself because Harry went (half) Black, American, multi-millionaire, self-made, owned her own business (The Tig), humanitarian work, and so on…lots of good solid qualities in a mate. I also thought, Harry's eyes about to get wide open if he really loves this woman, 'cause they (he and his wife) gonna learn. Now low and behold, never realize it would be this bad.
I do look up the UK royals from time to time since I am a Jamaican and my birth country is a member of the Commonwealth. Been knew the Commonwealth were a bunch of colonies, when I previously said this people got offended. But now it's all coming out. The big clue were the older royals who still publicly called the Commonwealth colonies. Duh.
Looked more into Meg, wished the couple well. Didn't even watch the wedding. Like I said, not big into any celeb or anyone I actually don't personally know, I don't know how or what they are behind closed doors. [Years later in 2021 I did watch the wedding once.]
After the couple married, and apparently after their first major royal tour in Australia, then the troubles really began. At first did not pay much attention, because the royals are people in the background of my life, I don't think too much of them.
But then more and more I saw how terrible Meg was being treated, so sad for her, but still didn't realize how bad it was until I noticed when once again…
I looked up different Black Women and mixed with Black female actresses, gigs for them are few and far between…
I noticed Meg's fans made Youtube channels. Initially the only Youtube channels of Meg were by Black Women, and they in turn said positive things about her and also highlighted other Black Women. I liked that. Later a few Black Men made pro-Meghan channels. And now different people of varying backgrounds have pro-Meghan channels, pages and sites.
I began to watch regularly these channels, not because I was into Meg, but because they were channels that said positive things about Black Women, and it is very rare to find good positives about Black Females online, in entertainment, in general. Sad but true.
After a time I had to stop watching most and then all pro-Meghan channels because they kept taking the hate bait. They more often talked about tabloid people, racists, evil people who do terrible things to others. I was getting disgusted. What the fff do I care about the names of haters and racists? I was becoming pissed off. I stopped all together when most of these channels did entire videos, detail and background of the racists. I felt they were being foolish because why are you delving so deeply and promoting them? Don't they know how online popularity works? Even bad publicity is still publicity. I noticed tabloids never once specifically mentioned any Squaddie name, not even the Squad. They may collectively say Meg has fans who are haters, and generalize and lie, but never promoted the Squad or any Squaddie.
For over a year I have not listened to any Squaddie Youtube channel.
Instead I noticed the Squaddies Twitter pages and discovered other Squaddies big on Twitter.
Because I was so use to listening about Meghan, I became addicted to learning more of her. Squaddies are one of the few fan base who daily update and discuss their favs in positive ways, they are also social justice warrior types and mention social justice, or black women, and black history, and I like that.
I became fixated with reading positives about Meg.
Yet, I was learning way too much about the royal family and the UK, though I have studied the UK and the royals in the past due to being a member of the Commonwealth. But this was too much gossip.
Still it was nice to hear people speak good about Black Women.
Previously I rarely was on Twitter, rarely ever posted, then I looked up Squaddies on Twitter on a regular basis, sometimes daily.
Years later, being well versed in all things Sussexes, I began to drop my two cents from time to time, but I never keep up those posts, even when I noticed they received thousands of views.
I mostly posted at first to try and be a voice of reason to the Squaddies. Stop promoting the haters, derangers, tabloids. Learn to play the game.
But most did not listen.
So now and then I posted about my odd Sussex opinions.
You see, I am not a mega fan of anyone, and though I follow the Sussexes, including Harry since he's married to Meg, I do not believe in anyone tied to the global white supremacy empire.
I honestly don't like how knee deep into promoting these white supremacy endeavors, organizations, that the Sussexes indulge themselves and therefore their fans.
It still behooves me that all these POCs, including blacks, give money and support to so many white supremacy organizations. Makes me realize why white supremacy and colonization has lasted so long.
I think different.
Anyway, any Squaddie reading this who are die-hard Sussex fans may not like my opinions but I have been reading about colonization since the 1980s, way before I began following the Sussex Squad since 2020.
Because I spent so much time learning about the Sussexes, I check up on Twitter to see what Squaddies are saying. But Twitter has become way too toxic, and so have many Squaddie pages. Just too much about the evil system and the evil people.
Where is the happiness and fun that I initially saw on the Squaddie channels and pages?
Finally I had enough of Twitter, though still weaning, it is hard to break any addiction.
To get my Sussex fix, I have become a small Sussex content creator, focused mostly on Meg, because she is the reason I followed the Squaddies and Sussexes, to hear positives about a mixed with Black woman.
I am not a huge Sussex fan though, and can not dedicate entire pages or fan sites to anyone, just not into anyone like that.
So I have made a board (now two boards) on my Pinterest page regarding Meg, that's how I will feed this addiction I now have. The Twitter Squaddies, however, have the best up-to-date regarding Meg.
I have to stop Twittering though. I have decided my Pinterest Meg's board will focus on Meg positives but will not be about Meg current events. If you view my board you will notice I rarely discuss Harry or anything the Sussexes are doing. Respect to them being humanitarians. But in truth I don't like that they are so pro-NWO and UN and global society which is just another form of modern colonization. Humanitarian work that promotes the system is still a part of the system. It's the 'we come in peace' part of colonization deception. My opinion.
The Sussexes mean well, but I can not pretend that I do not clearly see Harry, no matter how cool Harry is, he stands firm with the Empire, he believes in the monarchy, the royals, and his stance in the leadership of this system. Harry knows who he is. He will protect his heritage and royal inheritance.
They may tiffs and hissy fits in the royal family, but they are still family.
I do not think anyone should blindly follow anyone else, because they may lead you astray one day. Think for yourself.
I recall the only white and male pro-Meghan channel in the earlier days of Squaddie channels, a UK male as well. He was really good at understanding the tabloids without focusing too much on them. But once the Sussexes took a stand on something he did not believe in, he immediately stopped talking about them, gave his channel to someone else, since then he has never said anything negative, or anything at all ever, about the Sussexes.
I respect him for being resolute in his beliefs, and never bad mouthing the Sussexes.
If the Sussexes ever promote something I truly can not agree with, then I will delete my Meg boards and no longer follow what they are up to.
For now, I appreciate that they help others, but I am also aware they are a global brand, they promote what they like, and promote themselves. That's the reality.
I will continue to lurk on any Squaddie pages, maybe on Instagram or Pinterest who say mostly positives about the Sussexes and not unwittingly promote the haters and negativity.
Respect to the Squad.
I must wean myself off Twitter, it has become too toxic, including many Squad pages.
My Meg's board will be positives only and I will never ever ever promote the haters.
Everything in this post is my personal opinion.
With Respect.
P.S. I have a firm rule to not comment on posts, debate in comments, and disrespect anyone in comments, that's why I do not leave any comments on Twitter, it may also be why many Squaddies do not know who I am, because I lurk, read what they say, collect Sussex info, but literally never comment under anyone's posts on Twitter, Youtube and so it will also be on Instagram and Pinterest.

hsmtmts . ep 102
july 6, 2:06 pm cst
completely unrelated but today i ended up accidentally cosplaying as jd from heathers with the trenchcoat and everything 😭
also this is me from after the episode, i wanna apologise for the huge text block + filling some of the space with personal anecdotes that have nothing to do with hsmtmts
"no, that... i'm not my grandma"
getting your measurements taken for costumes is the best thing ever
"he's already ruined this for me. ._."
throb my beloved
how to get your girlfriend back ft. richard bowen
ej's face before the intro card
why are people getting so excited over a group of chairs in a circle? yes, first rehearsal is always a magical moment but still
wait, is kourtney in the musical??

plot twist: miss jenn's mother is actually one of the zombies in zombies
"do you follow zac on instagram?" "no, but clearly i should"
this early rehearsal reminds me of that one time i had to stay late during a rehearsal of my school's musical to go over the details of a song and after i was done the guard at the door wouldn't let me go because i needed a special permission or something and the person that was supposed to give me that special permission disappeared for the next 30 minutes

Warnings: Spoilers for Originals Season 2 Episode 21, Graphic violence, Hayley Bashing, Cursing, Mentions of past tortue
Info You Might Need To Know: "Speaking", I know that after the whole cursing the pack thing, Klaus links himself to his aunt, but yeah no, I don't feel like doing that. (I just wanna focus on the Klaroline) so Dahlia is good (Gray...?) here. For the sake of the story, just go along with it.
Word Count: 5.8K
Requested By: Requested by AaerabellaerieE on Ao3: Hey, I don't know if you finally watched TO, but during the Dahlia fiasco, Klaus "sided" with Dahlia to save Hope and she made the crescent pack be wolves for a month, and human during the full moon. Klaus then managed to get Hope away from the wereslut for a month or so Can you write something like Care coming to NOLA during the time the shewolf was cursed and she took care of Hope and when the wolfwhore manage to break the spell, she came back for Hope, but the kid calls Caroline "mama"
Summary: After Klaus curses the crescent wolf pack, he get's a call from a certain blond with surprising news. She's coming to New Orleans, and this, is going to change everything.

Hayley and Jackson ran outside when cries of pain rang from outside. Hayley gasped, once she saw who it was.
"Good evening, crescents." Klaus greeted, snapping the neck of the man currently in his hold. "It will come as no surprise to learn that things will not be ending well for you."
"Go back inside. Get Hope and Mary out of here." Jackson ordered Hayley, stepping forward.
Hayley shook her head, "I can help you."
"I'll be right behind you." Her husband told her.
"Jack." The women protested.
"Just get Hope and run." Jackson growled. When Hayley flushed away, Jackson and three other men approached Klaus. The original hybrid smirked, as a quick glance showed him, more approaching from behind him. "Let's take him." The alpha of the pack ordered.
Seeing Klaus slam the head of one man into a window, and another against a tree, Jackson took this chance to launch an arrow at him.
The arrow struck Klaus near his heart, but with a grunt he quickly pulled it out. "You think you can defeat me with your toys?"
"We're just getting warmed up." Jackson galred, throwing his bow away.
"So Hayley runs, and you hold the line. How valiant. Not too bright, though. You do remember our last somewhat one-sided altercation." Klaus taunts.
"This ain't gonna be like last time." The baby hybrid answers, his eyes flashing amber.
Klaus managed to effortlessly knock away all the men attempting to reach him. Jackson ran towards him, and landed a punch on the face, only for Klaus to turn around and punch him back. The originals hit, sending the baby several feet back.
Honestly, it was insulting.
They hadn't even been hybrid for years, well Klaus' vampire and wolf are over a millenia old.
Did they honestly think they could beat him?
Yes, yes they did. And they were about to find out just how wrong they truly are.
"Ah. You have gotten stronger. I reckon you've gone from field mouse to lapdog." Klaus said, giving the perfect backhand insult.
"Come on then." Jackson called. Klaus approached him, only for Hayley, using the element of surprise flashed towards Klaus punching him. She flipped him around, and Jackson tried to kick him when he was down, but the second they lost the element of surprise, Klaus flipped the game around. He shoved Jackson away using his foot, and threw him into Hayley, knocking them both down with a single push.
"Enough." Dahlia called, stepping forward.
"Why is she with you, Klaus?" Hayley had the nerve to demand, as if she hadn't just tried to run off to a whole other state with Klaus' daughter without informing him.
"Unlike some, he's doing what is best for his daughter." Dahlia glared at the so-called queen.
"I'm gonna skin you alive!" Hayley growled and began marching towards the two as if she stood a chance against even one of them.
But mid step, the bone in her leg gave away and she collapsed to the ground as sounds of bones breaking ran through the area. "Aah! What are you doing to us?" Hayley cried, trying to play ignorant of her actions. As if she hadn't just been about to attack them.
"Oh, this?" Klaus asked, gesturing to the fallen and in transition hybrids. "No. This was my idea, stealing from Marcel the Crescent curse he once used on your pack. Dahlia was all too happy to make the necessary adjustments to accommodate your hybrid nature. Now you will be trapped in wolf form, save for the full moon, leaving you very little time to cause any further mischief." he answered, more than happy to inform the mutts for the price of their actions. He fully intended for them to do the time for their actions.
"And because of the unification ritual linking you to your pack, now they will share your fate, Queen." Klaus taunted.
"Please. Please don't do this, Klaus. She's gonna steal our baby." Hayley cried out.
Klaus glared at her. "It was you who tried to steal my child, and for that, you will suffer."
As Klaus watched the pathetic wolves cry out in pain, he began to wonder. Would things have been different if she was the one who had Hope?
Yes, they would have.
She would understand what he was doing was for Hope. That he was doing what was best for his daughter. Their daughter in that scenario.
She would support his decision.
She would have never tries to take Hope away from him
Correction. She would have never tried to take him away from Hope. She truly would have never tried to make Hope grow up without her father.
*****
Klaus sighed as his head hit the pillow. Today has definitely been a long day. Elijah and Rebekah wouldn't be able to enter the house with all the protective and alarm spells Dahlia had set up. The 1000 year old witch had officially linked herself to his daughter, and Hayley would no longer be bothering them.
The phone on his bed stand began ringing, thinking it was Elijah, Klaus was about to throw his phone at the wall, till he saw the caller ID.
He instantly sat up and accepted the call, "Hello, love." He smiled through his exhaustion.
"Hi." Her soft voice greeted, and all his worries began to melt away. This was exactly what he needed. "Klaus, I really hate to do this... always calling you just for help. But I- I really need your help."
Klaus frowned, "What's wrong Caroline?" He asked, clearing hearing the tension and worry in her voice.
"Klaus... I'm pregnant." Caroline told him, not knowing how else to tell him.
"What? But how? You're a vampire!" Klaus protested.
"They aren't mine. Biologically at least. Short story, a dying coven implanted them into me, to save them." Caroline told him.
Klaus growled, "Without your consent."
Caroline smiled softly on the other side. Of course he'd know her. Well everyone else had tried to tell her what a great thing this was, how they'd kill for this chance. He knew... that no matter what. She never would have chosen this. "Yes. How'd you know?" She chuckled.
Klaus smiled, "Well you did have plans didn't you? You wanted to build a life for yourself. Plans, a future, things you want." Klaus' smile fell as he realized all these things, things that she wanted, were ripped away from her.
"Caroline, are you alone?" Klaus asked, frowning.
"What, no. Bonnie's with me. She's currently asleep." Caroline answered, she glared at the screen when she heard his growl, "Hey, don't get angry at her. She's human. I'm still a vampire."
"Of course love." Klaus smiled. "So what do you need?"
"Well... since you're the only vampire I know who has experience with supernatural pregnancies, a vampire one at that. I figured you'd know... what to do?" Caroline said, growing quiet. This pregnancy was changing her, and she had no idea why. She needed all the help she could get. And Klaus was the only one who she knew wouldn't judge her or try to pressure her.
"You know about Hope?" Klaus asked, surprised.
Caroline let out a chuckle, "Yeah, gossip like that tends to travel fast. How's fatherhood?"
Klaus sighed, "Well so far, none of my family trust my attention for her, Hayley tried to take her away, and I've been left with no other option than to trust my supposedly evil aunt."
"Hayley tried to take her away?" Caroline gasped.
Klaus smiles, "I tell you I'm siding with my evil aunt and that's the one fact you choose to focus on?"
"It is the most important one. No one had the right to do that to you. Mother or not." Caroline told him. "Plus, I know you. You'd never do something unless you truly believed it's what is best for your daughter. I could never blame you for that."
"I had them link." Klaus finds himself explaining his reasoning to her. "Hope's a tribrid, and a first born Mikaelson witch at that. Her magic is too strong. I may not have Kol's knowledge when it comes to magic, but even I know. That much magic, in such a tiny body. It would kill her. She wouldn't live to see her sixteenth birthday. So Dahlia linking herself to Hope, allows Dahlia power, but it also allows Hope an outlet. Dahlia also agreed to train her to control it. Elijah and Rebekah have been so blinded by Freya and her need to be free of our Aunt. That they don't realize that if Dahlia didn't act like an outlet, Freya would have died a long time ago. I refuse to let that happen to my daughter."
Caroline nodded, "You're doing the right thing." she reassures him. "If Dahlia can help, then calling a truce won't hurt anyone. If they can't see that, they are wrong. Hope is your child. I refuse to believe you wouldn't have anything but the best intentions for her."
Klaus smiled, he could truly always count on her. "How far along are you?"
"Second trimester, five months." Caroline smiles. She had to admit, these two had grown on her. "I'm also, funnily, 50 miles from New Orleans."
Klaus stands up, "What?!"
"Bonnie and I are on our way to New Orleans Klaus." Caroline says, "Now don't get ang-"
"I'm not angry, love." Klaus reassures her. "Listen, I'm currently outside of New Orleans. Not too far away. I'm going to give you an address, come here. Ok."
"Alright." Caroline nods.
*****
Caroline saw Klaus was standing next to a woman who looked to be in her late thirties, when she pulled up. She assumed the brown haired woman, dressed in all black was the supposed evil aunt.
"Bonnie, wake up." Caroline said, gently shaking her friend awake.
The witch groaned as she regained consciousness. "Where here?"
"Yep." Caroline nodded, getting out of the car. She walked up to the porch only to stop when she hit a wall.
Klaus was next to her in an instant, "Sorry about that. Dahlia has a few spells put up to keep... unwanted visitors out."
Bonnie touched the barrier, "I wouldn't call these a few. There's like 30 here."
"32, actually. But close enough." Dahlia corrected approaching the group. "You must be the Bennett witch." She nodded towards Bonnie, before turning her attention towards Caroline. "And you, the pregnant vampire. We have quite a situation on our hands here."
Caroline nodded, "That's one way to put it."
"We can discuss more once we are inside. But for you to enter the wards, I am going to need a bit of your blood." Dahlia told them.
Caroline turned to Bonnie, who nodded, "Seems like standard procedure."
Caroline held out her hand, "Allright."
Klaus watched Dahlia like a hawk as she cut the tip of Caroline's finger, drawing blood. He frowned as he noticed, "Your healing is slower than usual."
"Huh?" Caroline asked, she looked down, seeing the cut only beginning to heal. "Oh, that. Yeah, that's something we've noticed too."
"We were hoping you'd have some answers for us about that." Bonnie sighed.
"Please. Come in." Dahlia said, entering the house again.
The girls followed her into the living room. Dahlia chose an armchair, well Bonnie and Caroline sat across from her on the couch, with Klaus standing behind Caroline.
Dahlia's eyes traveled to Caroline's prominent baby bump. "You're having difficulties with your pregnancy, if I understand correctly. That's why you're here."
Caroline nodded, "My healings slowed down, as you can see. I've been angrier, and my bloodlust has gone through the roof."
"Which is odd. She's always had great control." Bonnie added.
The witch nodded. "Let's start with the least concerning issue and work our way up. For Niklaus sake if nothing else."
Klaus crossed his arms and glared at the witch, not liking the idea of anything being most concerning.
"You've been angrier because of the pregnancy hormones. You're pregnant with twins, which means you're also going to need to feed more. Blood is what allows you to function like a normal human. You may eat human food. But at the end of the day, it is the blood your body is converting into nutrients to nourish the growing babes."
Bonnie gaped, "That does make sense. So far we just assumed it was the human diet the children needed."
Dahlia crossed her ankles, "My advice. Don't fight the bloodlust, you're only going to be harming yourself and your children in the long run."
"So is the slowed down healing a result of that?" Klaus asked.
Dahlia shook her head. "No. The healing is an issue of concern. Magic is what gives vampires the ability to heal so quickly. If you aren't... then that means something is wrong with the magic keeping you alive."
Klaus' spine snapped ruler straight, "What do you mean? How do we fix it?" he demanded.
Dahlia met Caroline's eyes, "Tell me. Do the witches of the bloodline you are carrying have a history of siphoners?"
"They do." Bonnie answered, a chill passing through her as she remembered Kai.
Dahlia nodded, "I guess that's good. It gives us our cause, but also quite a problem on our hands."
"How do we fix it?" Caroline asked, repeating Klaus' question.
"My guess is it. The children are siphoning the magic from you. You're guessing twins, and judging by how slow your healing, after only carrying them for five months, they are both siphoners. If this keeps up, you will not be able to carry the children to term." Dahlia informed them.
Klaus shot a look at Caroline, and then her baby bump. If it came down to the children or Caroline. The choice was obvious for him.
In fact, there was no choice.
He'd always pick Caroline.
"There has to be a solution." The baby vampire protested.
"There is. You are quite fortunate you came here when you did. The answer is to surround yourself with magic. So the babies will Siphon off of us. There are three extremely powerful witches here now. Me, Hope, and your friend over there is quite powerful as well. Surrounded by this much magic, you should be fine for the rest of your term. Though I would recommend bed rest." Dahlia informed her.
Caroline sunk into the couch, great after that statement. Klaus was gonna go all overbearing on her.
Bonnie chuckled from the side, following her best friend's thoughts. She'd be lucky if Klaus let her pick up a glass of water. All his psychopathic flaws aside. She gotta give him credit. If nothing else, he treated her best friend well.
Bonnie turned her gaze when she felt Dahlia's eyes on her, "Need something?"
"Yes. I've been wondering. What line are you from? I can feel it's quite old." Dahlia asked.
Bonnie sighed, "I'm a Bennett."
Dahlia raised her eyebrow, impressed. "I see. Quite humble I see."
"Yeah, well I haven't exactly had the best history with magic." Bonnie shrugged.
Dahlia raised an eyebrow, "How so?"
"My grandmother died before I could learn everything from her. I was tricked into learning expressions as a result of Silas and his games. I died, and came back to life as the anchor. At the cost of my magic. Was trapped in a prison world for months before I even knew I still had my magic. And as soon as I came back, I was forcefully linked to my other best friend. One of us is forced to sleep, well the other is alive. by a crazy sociopath. Now, one of her said boyfriends is trying to hunt me down and kill me so she'll wake up. So yeah, I've been a little shaky." Bonnie shrugged.
"Still. Such a waste. I could teach you again." Dahlia offers. "I would be more than happy to teach the twins as well."
"Yeah, no thanks." Bonnie and Caroline answer at the same time."
Dahlia shakes her head. "It would be such a waste to let such a powerful dynasty die out. All you'd owe me would be a few favors." She then turned to Caroline, "Your children will be siphoners. They will need training."
Caroline felt Klaus hand on her shoulder and sighed. "Fine. I can't speak for Bonnie. But I'll give it a try. So far as I've seen. You're helping Hope, even if it is only for your own benefit. So I'll trust you for now."
*****
Klaus admired Caroline as she began to settle into her new room. Bonnie was right down the hall, and he was right next to her incase she needed anything.
He'd heard about how pregnant women glowed, but he never truly realized how true that was. He never saw it with Hayley. But with Caroline, he could clearly see how the pregnancy amplified her light.
She looked truly radiant.
Caroline looked at him questioningly, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'm just admiring your beauty." Klaus admitted without hesitation.
Caroline let out a chuckle, "I'm five months pregnant. With twins. I look like a beached whale."
"You're glowing. Pregnancy suits you." Klaus told her.
"Yeah. Well I wasn't always so accepting of it." Caroline answered.
Klaus shook his head, "Considering how you came by them. Nobody would blame you. Do you know who the father is?" he couldn't help but ask.
Caroline turned away, and if it wasn't for his hybrid hearing, Klaus would have missed the quiet murmur of, "Alaric."
A growl thundered through Klaus' chest before he could control it. "The hunter. The same one who tortured you?" Klaus demanded.
Caroline nodded.
"And what? They just expected you to be more than happy to give birth to the spawns of your torturer?"
Caroline sighed, "Stefan called it a gift. He said vampires around the world would kill for the chance I was given."
"Valerie, the witch who told us, said it was the only way for the Gemini coven to survive." Caroline explained. "Stefan kept telling me how great this was. Damon was just this pressure that didn't let up. And Alaric? He was the worst. He just had this look on his face."
"It's like everyone just expected me to give birth to the children of the man... of the man who killed my father." Caroline said, her year tearing up.
"And just had to be you?" Klaus asked.
Caroline let out a shaky chuckle, "You know. I asked the same thing. "I suggested moving them into Elena or someone else. But they weren't having it. Damon said it was too risky for her."
"But it wasn't for you?" Klaus growled, reminding himself to rip Damon's heart out the next time he saw him.
"But not for me." Caroline nodded sadly. "I kept telling them this wasn't what I wanted. That I was willing to wait for a few weeks until they found a willing surrogate. But Damon wasn't having it. He locked me up, until I couldn't abort them, or transfer them."
Klaus' eyes flashed yellow. Screw ripping out his heart. That would be a mercy for what he's planning to do now.
"Bonnie then noticed how the children were affecting me. She and Enzo came up with a plan to get me out of there. Enzo created a distraction, and me and Bonnie ran. We've been on the road since."
Klaus came up and wrapped his arms around Caroline. "You're not going to have to run ever again. I promise you. I won't let them even touch you. Or YOUR children."
*****
Caroline was woken up the next day by loud shouting from outside. The baby vampire groaned and turned around, snuggling into the warm body next to her.
Warm body...
What?
Caroline shot up and turned to her side to see Klaus smiling up at her. "Morning love."
"What are you doing? Were you watching me sleep?" Caroline demanded.
Klaus smiled, "I was simply admiring your beauty. You curling into me was a definite beauty."
Caroline glared at him, "Yeah. That isn't creepy. How about you stop taking a page out of Edwards book. K?" She then turned her attention to the window. "Who's shouting this early in the morning?" She asked, feeling like she's heard the voice somewhere before.
"That would be Kol I believe. He's been trying to get in here since three last night I believe. But he can't until Dahlia let's him." Klaus said.
"Are you going to let him in?" Caroline asked.
Klaus hummed, "I still haven't decided yet."
"I say you let him." Caroline said, getting up and walking to the bathroom.
Klaus followed behind her, leaning against the doorway he asked, "Oh, and why's that. Are you still trying to set him up with your friend?"
Caroline shrugged, "You gotta admit. They'd be cute together. "Now get out. I need to change." she ordered, pushing him out.
After she was done getting ready for the day. Caroline decided to throw on a stretchy black tank along with matching black leggings. She left her hair open and put on a soft brown cardigan to bring her outfit together.
She was about to join Klaus downstairs, when she heard crying. Caroline instantly followed the cries to a nursery. The pregnant vampire approached the crib to find a little girl. Caroline smiled down at the baby, "You must be Hope." She cooed.
From the smell, she guessed that Hope clearly wanted a diaper change. She could hear Klaus and Kol in a heated discussion downstairs, likely why neither had noticed the babies cries.
She knew that she should have probably asked Klaus before picking Hope up. But seeing that no one else would be coming up anytime soon, she decided to make an expectation and picked the baby girl up and carried her to the changing table.
She gently placed Hope on her back and gathered the necessary things. A diaper, a wipe, powder, and a change of clothes.
"You're just the cutest. Aren't you?" Caroline cued, gently removing the soiled diaper. She quickly tossed it in the trashcan next to the table, and wiped Hope down. The little girl began giggling and trying to reach for Caroline's golden locks.
The vampire moved her head away, "Yeah, let's hold that off for a while. Ok." She then handed hope a stuffed elephant and quickly placed the new diaper on to the girl.
Caroline quickly put Hope in the cute little white onesie she had selected. It read, 'I may have a small finger but I have daddy wrapped around it.' With daddy's written is a bold purple font. She paired it with a pair of black leggings and purple headband, and Hope was ready.
She carried Hope downstairs to see Dahlia, Bonnie, Klaus and Kol all in the kitchen.
Whatever Klaus was about to shout at Kol, died on his lips as he took in the sight behind his brother.
Caroline was carrying Hope on her side, right over her very prominent baby bump. Hope had one hand dangling a toy, well the other was around a tiny fistful of Caroline's hair.
At that moment, it was just the three of them in his little world.
Life was perfect.
And then, Kol, like always. Just had to shatter it.
Kol followed his brothers' gaze and began laughing at the sight that had his brother so mesmerized. "Who knocked you up? Was it Nik?"
Caroline rolled her eyes, "No. They aren't biologically mine. But I am carrying them."
Kol began laughing even harder, "Oh, I bet he hates that." He said, nodding towards his brother.
"Kol." Klaus growled out, eyes flashing warningly.
"Holy guacamole, you're going to avo baby!" Kol smirks.
"Kol!" Caroline and Klaus growled at the same time.
"Wait, wait. I'm sure I've got another one." Kol laughed. "So I guess you like your eggs fertilized." he said, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
Caroline picked up the plate closest to her, and threw it at Kol's head like a frisbee. Hitting him straight in the throat causing him to choke.
Klaus and Bonnie began chuckling at the sight, even Dahlia gave it a side smirk. Hope began giggling as a result of the mood in the room.
Kol got up, and began massaging his throat. "God dammit women. I'm on your side!"
"Are you really?" Klaus asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course. Unlike our dearest older brother and little sister. I'm not an idiot. I know exactly why you're doing this." Kol said, getting serious. "Hope has way too much magic. That much magic can begin to poison a person. A lot like expression, if not handled properly." Kol said, shooting a look towards Bonnie who paled. "Hope needs training. Something Dahlia can provide. Because what it seems that the rest of them have forgotten is that Dahlia herself is a first born Mikaelson witch. She knows what she's doing."
Dahlia crossed her arms, deciding to test her nephew. "I'm linked to her." she informed him.
But Kol just nodded. "Smart choice. It will give Hope an outlet until she's ready to learn. If it gives you power. So be it. As long as you don't use that power to pull an Esther and try to kill us. I don't care."
Klaus shot his brother a smile, "Fine. You can set up your room."
"No need." Kol smirked. "I'll just share with Bonnie-"
"No way in hell!" Bonnie glared.
"You'll warm up to me eventually." Kol said as the witch exited the kitchen.
*****
The next two weeks were the most blissful Klaus had in centuries. After the first night, Caroline hadn't pushed him away, and began sleeping in the same bed as her.
So Klaus was blessed with waking up every morning to Caroline wrapped in his arms.
Any possible guilt Klaus could have had of cursing Hayley, was obliterated whenever he saw Hope with Caroline. Dressing her, changing her, feeding her, or simply just holding her.
Caroline had settled into a maternal role for Hope, almost instinctively.
Her mornings started when Hope woke up, quickly getting dressed to feed her, and then get the baby girl dressed for the day.
By then, someone usually had dinner ready. If it was Bonnie, you could expect a classic American breakfast. If it was Dahlia, you could expect a recipe from the past. Klaus always made something from a different part of the world, well Kol. Kol, tending to throw together different things from the pantry. The surprising thing was he could always make it work.
After her first day, it was quickly agreed that Caroline wouldn't get cooking duty until her pregnant taste buds passed.
Then, the next three hours were usually spent with Kol and Dahlia helping Bonnie with her magic.
With Caroline sitting in on the session only for the twins to soak in the extra magic energy that came from the witches. Acting like a 'large magic sponge' as Kol has nicknamed her.
Klaus usually stood over her shoulder, ready to growl whenever his brother came up with an idiotic idea that could potentially effect the pregnant vampire, and/or risk blowing up the house.
Dahlia usually spent her afternoons experimenting in her lab with the power she was drawing from the tribrid.
Sometimes Bonnie spent the day haled up the library with Kol, or she and Caroline spent it cuddling while hopping around the online stores with the Mikaelson cards Klaus had ordered for them shortly after they had arrived.
Caroline usually spent her days in either Hope's play room, with Klaus often joining his girls, or in Klaus studio, with Caroline talking to Hope about various topics, determined to win their bet.
Five days after Caroline and Bonnie had arrived. Klaus and Caroline had made a bet.
*****
"Dada. Come on Hope. You can say it. I believe in you. Come on Hope. Da-da." Caroline encouraged, cooing at the baby.
Klaus chuckled after from where he was sketching. "Shouldn't you be trying to get her to call you first?"
"Yeah, well dada is a lot easier to say then, Caroline. So I'm aiming to take the credit for teaching her, her first word." Caroline said, gently tapping Hope's feet causing the girl to giggle.
Klaus hummed thoughtfully, "I bet I could teach her to call you before you can."
Caroline raised an eyebrow, "Oh, and what does the winner get?"
"Winner's choice." Klaus answered confidently.
"You're on." Caroline nodded, confident in her abilities to teach Hope how to say dada, before Hope could say her name.
But what her pregnancy brain missed, was that Klaus never specified what Hope would be calling her.

The Originals 2x21 Hayley's Crescent Curse
/eMtE78xB_ZU. I love Hayley bashing of any kind. I can't even put into words how happy this moment made me feel. I had tears of joy in my eyes .God I was waiting for Klaus to remind the were-slut that he IS THE ORIGINAL Hybrid.
This was by far my top 3 favorite scenes in the originals, (which I admit isn't that high of a bar considering how the show ruined Klaus). But still, it was BEAUTIFUL.
Especially the cursing Hayley bit. Or better yet, the fact that Hayley actually thought she stood a chance. All of Hope's abilities (That also turned Hayley into a hybrid) came from Klaus. The witch part, vampire part, heck even the wolf part likely came from Klaus! And these mutts actually thought they could take him? Please, he's the Alpha male.
What was the point of the spinoff even, to ruin him? I mean, I've watched some pretty great Caroline in the Originals trailers. Which only made me angrier at the writers. Just imagine how amazing it could have been if Caroline came sooner, and not three episodes before they killed Klaus!
And talking about great Klaroline trailers, I just found this amazing one:

youtube
► The Originals | Trailer [Klaroline Style]
Like Why? Why couldn't it be real!
If I had a penny for every time I watched something Klaroline, I could GLADLY, sponsor the creation of this masterpiece. Honestly the only thing that prevented me from giving it a perfect score would be the Cami scene (I suggest skipping 1:19-1:42). But the rest of the video was so great I can overlook that.
Making their aunt good here, I know you're calling me crazy (In my defense, she was more Gray here than anything). But come on, I just wanna focus on the Klaroline, isn't that why we're all really here! (I honestly lost interest in TVD after Klaus left and they killed Katherine. I only even watched season 7 - and I skipped through most of the season - for the Klaroline phone call)
God this was so long (26 - or was it 24? google doc pages, font size 11 - I believe). So when I finished, I could practically hear "Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah" being played in the background.
This was going to be like 10K (A new record for me I believe), so I decided to split this into 2 parts. Part 2 is already written and just needs to be proofread and I'll post it up. I mostly decided to split this into 2 parts, because sometimes when it's too long, you skim through some of it (a crime I admit I am also guilty of). So part two should be coming soon. A day late at most. :)
Anyways,
KLAROLINE FOR LIFE BECAUSE I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!

Hi Gina! I was thinking if the bear will be there at the next show, would it really mean anything? I mean, the band is keeping things like that on stage since the beginning of the tour and bears have been kept also on Live on Tour. I remember there was a picture of flags, shirts, rainbow bears and other stuffs that have been thrown on stage during LOT 1, I can't find it, maybe you have it. We know that it wasn't Harry or Louis who run the Bears account and other stuffs and the person who was doing it is clearly not around Harry anymore so I don't think they would do a RBB comeback. Maybe Pauli will just keep it there. And also, if bears really would do a comeback, would it mean anything bad? Sorry, I wasn't in the fandom back then but saw on twitter today somebody saying that if the Bears would come back then it would be a warning...
Wait... what do you mean "we know that it wasn't Harry or Louis who run the Bears account"? Who are you getting your information from? It absolutely was them who ran it. Do not listen to anti morons who try to pretend that it was some random sound engineer or crew member who ran that account. And why would it be anything bad if the bears were back? What on earth is going on with people making up all of this shit information?
Okay, first of all, that bear is not the original RBB/SBB. We know that. It's unlikely IMO that Pauli knows anything about RBB/SBB and it's more likely that he just thought it was cute and stuck it with all of the other things he's been adding to his rig.
If it continues to be there, I think all it means is that Harry doesn't mind it being there and doesn't mind the nod to RBB/SBB. Which says a lot, but doesn't mean "the bears are back".
Seriously, I have some lovely friends who are new/newer fans and they're just as hardcore as those of us who've been here forever, but you really need to check where you're getting info from because some of these fans are just "fans" and their info comes from tiktok or whatever and it's complete nonsense.
Check my RBB and SBB tag for more info (linked in chronological order)

First off I love your Miraculous Ladybug fics. Also I don't know if you are a Black Butler fan or not. But if you are could you please do a fic where Lila causes a that destroys Marinette's home/bakery, which kills Marinette's parents and severely injures Marinette. While in the hospital recovering Roland finds out what Lila did and talks with Gina, both recently have been diagnosed with cancer and want to make sure Marinette is taken care of when they die. Gina or Roland remember a story told to them by a descendant of the Phantomhive servants (In this fic it follows season 2 with Sebastian being able to get Ciel's memories back before Claude tried to brainwash him and was able to eat Ciel's soul) (either from when Gina was in traveling in England or someone who Roland's father knew during WWII) about a demon who acted like a caretaker for a child in the late 1800's. They both decide to sacrifice themselves so Marinette can be cared for. One summons Sebastian the other summons Claude. The terms of the contract are simple, in exchange for eating the soul of the person who summoned their specific demon the summoned demon would care for Marinette, act as her guardian, help her achieve her dreams, and care for her, her husband and their children until Marinette passes away from old age. The contract is accepted with both demons. While caring for Marinette it becomes sort of a contest between the two demons of them trying to out do each other in different ways (if Claude gets her multiple roles of different color spider silk fabric, Sebastian "accidentally" gets Marinette introduced to several high ranking nobles ["Hello, my ancestor worked for your ancestor's peer. What a small world. Might I introduce you to my ward?"] that become her clients. Due to the two demons' shenanigans Lila gets exposed, the Butterfly and Peacock are recovered, Adrien's mother is awakened, Marinette gets some real friends (Will, Ronald, Grell, and the Undertaker got reincarnated and regain their memories after a while) and falls in love with her future husband (either Will, Ronald, or the Undertaker. The only reason I don't do this fic myself is I can't write Black Butler characters even though it's one of my favorite animes.
Sorry this took so long, I wanted to try my best to make the characters accurate, so I had to rewatch some of the show. I hope I did good, but I am pretty rusty, writing these characters. But I tried my best! Hope you like it!
Lila was getting more and more dangerous. She didn't just want to ruin Marinette's social life anymore. Now she wanted to ruin her entire life, or even end it. One night, when everyone was asleep, Lila broke into the bakery and started a fire. She made sure that it would spread to the upper floors and then she raced from the building before she was spotted.
The fire spread quickly and soon the entire building, bakery and the apartment were completely engulfed. Marinette woke up to the smell of smoke and Tikki yelling in her ear. Despite the kwami screaming at her to leave the apartment, Marinette raced down to her parents room, to see if they had gotten out, but the door was blocked by debris falling from the ceiling. The thick black smoke was choking Marinette as she tried in vain to get to her parents. By the time Tikki managed to convince Marinette that they had to leave, Marinette was severely burned on her arms, legs, and back. As she blindly felt her way to the exit, a now exposed wooden beam in the ceiling, came crashing down, landing on Marinette's legs. With her legs pinned and unable to move, Marinette passed out. Thankfully firefighters had already been called and pulled Marinette from the flames before it was too late. On lookers from the neighborhood watched in horror as the bakery went up in flames. Once the fire was put out and Marinette was sent to the closest hospital, the firefighters went into the apartment and found Tom and Sabine. They had died in their room, unable to get out because of the debris blocking their door.
The next morning, the whole city seemed to be grieving. Tom and Sabine were well loved people in the city and everyone was distraught over the loss. But no one was more distraught than Marinette and her grandparents. Roland and Gina heard about the fire early that morning and were horrified to learn that Tom and Sabine were gone. But their one piece of solace was that Marinette had survived. They both raced to the hospital and comforted their granddaughter. But they had a bigger problem. Both Gina and Roland were getting older, now both in their late 80's. Both of them also had several severe health conditions and likely wouldn't be around for much longer as it is. And then who would take care of Marinette? That is when Gina remembered a story she had heard when she was in England. A story of two boys in the Victorian era who had made deals with demons, and those demons took care of the boys. Soon after, both boys' souls were eaten by their respective demons. As much as Gina and Roland didn't want to leave Marinette, they thought that this was the best thing for her. The only way to know that she would truly be cared for.
That night, after they left the hospital, they summoned the demons the same way as in the story Gina heard. The room became dark with shadow and two voices spoke from the darkness, asking the two elderly people why they had been summoned. "We summoned you to make a deal. Our granddaughter has recently lost her parents and we likely will not be around much longer as it is. We heard stories about how you two cared for two boys in the Victorian era in exchange for their respective souls. In exchange for our souls, we want you to take care of our Marinette. To help her achieve her goals, protect her, and care for her until she dies. Both demons agreed to the deal. After all, they had already cared for children before, so they had the skills to do it, and the souls of these two people who would willingly do this for their granddaughter would be nice to have. With the contract sealed, Gina and Roland wrote in their wills that Marinette was to be cared for by Sebastian and Claude, claiming they were old family friends. They also took the two demons to meet Marinette, so that Marinette would at least meet the two before they began caring for her. Once the legalities were taken care of and Marinette had met the two, Sebastian and Claude took their payment and Gina and Roland died.
Marinette was overcome with the grief of not just losing her parents, but now her grandparents as well. Sebastian and Claude, who her grandparents had recently introduced her to, were declared her guardians and began watching over her. Roland had left Marinette his house, so she had somewhere to live. While Marinette began to settle into the new normal of her life, Sebastian and Claude got to work on the first order of business. They were going to get justice for Marinette's parents. They knew that the fire was not an accident and that someone had set it on purpose. The evidence was obvious, but the police were stuck. They didn't know who did it. But Sebastian and Claude quickly learned that it was a girl named Lila who had been tormenting their charge for years now. All they had to do was phone in an anonymous tip to the police about the girl, and the police searched Lila's apartment. Mrs. Rossi kept sayin this was a mistake and her daughter couldn't have done this, but the police soon found evidence of her involvement, including the accelerant used at the bakery. Lila was confused, sure that she had gotten rid of it all. But Lila was arrested quickly, as a crowd had now grown outside of her apartment building. Several members of Mrs. Bustier's class were there and saw Lila being dragged out in cuffs. As Paris looked on in horror at the arsonist that had killed the Dupain-Chengs, no one noticed the shadow like figures standing to the side, smiling coldly at the scene.
They also quickly figured out that Marinette was Ladybug and even figured out that Adrien was Chat Noir when he came over to check on Marinette. They learned this by sensing the souls of the kwami. Since the kwami's souls are obviously not human, and Marinette kept disappearing during the akuma attacks, it didn't take long for the demons to be sure of their suspicion that Marinette was Ladybug. After confirming this, they felt that defeating Hawkmoth fell under their duty of caring for Marinette so they set out to find out who Hawkmoth was. They were able to sense the souls of other kwami in the city. They sensed two other kwami in Adrien's house. With only two kwami present in the house, they were certain that this was the location of Hawkmoth. To confirm this, Claude used a smaller version of his demon form to enter the manor and watch the residents of the house. Claude soon saw Gabriel and Natalie transform with the missing miraculous. Now that they had confirmation, it was time to end Hawkmoth.
The two demons began to plague Gabriel and Natalie with nightmares and torment them constantly. In each nightmare, they made it abundantly clear that this was because of their actions as Hawkmoth and Mayura. Soon, Gabriel and Natalie could hardly sleep and were almost driven completely mad. They surrendered to Ladybug and the miraculous were recovered. Gabriel and Natalie were sent to prison for their crimes. When Marinette learned why Gabriel had done everything and what happened to Emilie, she used everything she had learned about magic to help revive her. Sebastian and Claude lent some of their power to this endeavor as well, not wanting their charge to exhaust herself in the attempt. Adrien had his mom back, and the two moved to England to get away from all the trouble Gabriel had caused as Hawkmoth.
With all the major problems in Marinette's life taken care of, Marinette could relax a bit and focus on her fashion. While she thought it was odd that her grandparents had left her in Sebastian and Claude's care, she did think they were doing a wonderful job. They helped to support all her dreams, any way they could. Claude once brought her several different rolls of fabric made from spider silk. This of course, renewed the rivalry between the two demons. Sebastian brought Marinette to England, making the excuse that it was to see her friend. While there, Sebastian made sure to 'run into' the descendants of some old friends. Several nobles and aristocrats found a charming man and young girl in front of them at many parties. The man seemed familiar to them all, especially the older guests at these parties. They were sure they had encountered this man before. When asked if they knew him, the Sebastian always responded with "My ancestor worked as a butler for one of your ancestor's peers. He worked in the Phantomhive manor as the butler to Ciel Phantomhive. It truly is a small world for us to meet. May I introduce my charge, Ms. Marinette Dupain-Cheng." Sebastian spent the whole night talking up Marinette's fashion business and Marinette would leave these parties with several more clients than when she arrived.
Claude and Sebastian kept trying to out do each other in their attempts to care for Marinette. Helping her with her designs, getting her fancy fabrics and equipment, even convincing several major fashion magazines to feature her work. As odd as the arrangement was, it did work. Marinette met several new friends, thanks to Sebastian and Claude's interference. She even met the man that she would marry. A man who looked suspiciously like Will, from all those decades ago. As the years went by, even after Marinette was an adult and didn't need caretakers anymore, Sebastian and Claude continued to watch over and protect her, as per their contract. And they would watch over her, for the rest of her life.

PORTWELL LONG GAME OR RINA SLOWBURN.
You can only choose one poison.🍷
Listen up my Wildcats.🐱
We all ship each character with happiness. No matter how much you love to hate them, a majority of us simply adores the characters and want the best for them. Then comes relationships and it's okay to ship our favorites.⛴
I'm a diehard Rina shipper and I know in my heart that they are series endgame. The set up, the natural chemistry, their mutual understanding, the surprises and angst literally put me on chokehold. So I'm 100% a Rina shipper till the end. I'm here for the slowburn and their development rather than one shots. They are worth the pain. 😭❤
Tumblr media
Let me start with Ricky Bowen now.
Ricky shouldn't to be with Gina because he's hurting her mentality. He's not insensitive on purpose. Like when he tried to stop Big Red from telling her his message to Nina because he KNOWS it'll hurt her.
If you think, that Ricky didn't understand clearly when Gina confessed, think again. He shushed her. Kept their thing a secret from everyone. He knows he feels some type of way and she feels something too. But this boy is so used to safeguarding his childhood norms and has very little adaptability. Hence, he pretended to ignore everything between them because his home stability was falling apart and he clinged on to Nina, his constant childhood love.
He's a traumatised 16-17 year old boy that needs to heal and grow. This episode was heartbreaking because he had to accept that he had to let Nina go because their once upon a time fairytale had become toxic.
People change. I'm not the same person I was when I was 16 lmao. Being together as childhood lovers means growing together and accepting each other's growth. Which Ricky couldn't. He clutched to the idea of Nini. Even his love confession. It was sooo sweet but all he did was focus on their history.
This boy needs time to heal and maybe seek professional therapy. It would be so DAMN HISTORIC if Disney decides to take psychological issues seriously and show how he's dealing with his anxiety, pills and psychotherapy. He needs to breathe before he can be with any girl for that matter. He's hurting and isn't trying to hurt anyone on purpose. Including Gina.
Him asking her for advice on Nini was a dumb, insensitive move. But he's trying to find a way to build some supportive friendship that they shared in early season one.
As for now, this boy needs to get his own grip on life and heal.
Tumblr media
As for our Queen Gina
In Gina's confession, she focuses on their future. She basically said, "I wouldn't quit on a possible future of us being together despite obstacles. Because I never quit. But moving away isn't in my control." Ricky deep down knows this, encouraged her to say it, teary eyed, despite right after getting back together with Nini. Gina is his future. She went to his new house. And I also have this feeling that when she was given a chance to stay, she stayed partly because of Ricky. She left a chance to be with her mom because she prioritised their relationship. Because she never quits. 💪🏼
But she came back and found out Ricky has gotten back together with Nini.😭 What she doesn't know is Ricky got together with Nina before her confession, and after Gina kept dodging his messages. She's hurt and questions why she returned because she isn't particularly close to anyone. Hence, she was so silent at the after party. She thinks it'll be fine, "she'll live", and finds other reasons to find permanence. Her arc this season has been settling down in East High, despite the pain of losing and being 'betrayed' by Ricky, she finds other reasons to stay. 🏡
This kind of contrasts her with Nina. Nina left her dream school and came to Salt Lake because she missed her established home, and not just because of Ricky. Nina returned and was loved and embraced by Ricky Bowen.💕 Gina came back to a semi new place called Salt Lake because of her promise of a future to Ricky. But she got stabbed and she bled. 💔🗡
Think about her situation. She feels confused, alone, heartbroken, out of place and seperated from her mom. She's broken and hurting too. And she doesn't need more from Ricky's accidental or intentional 'sick burns'. That's the one line where he was such a jerk and I can't defend him here. 😠
Tumblr media
Here comes the Caswells.
Her second family. A place of healthy stability. A home that accepted her. Ashlyn, her roomie and her confidante. EJ, the misunderstood boy who saw her value and bought her plane ticket.
Let's get to EJ.
At first, I wasn't too keen on seeing Portwell's development. But then that video chat where they talk about the possibility of her staying and him convincing her. Had me sold for a solid brother-sister relationship. Few episodes later, when Gina's pain seemed to be oblivious to everyone, he was the only one who asked her how she was, and saw her glow. The comfort she must've felt.
Tumblr media
Not that she needs a man's validation, but she must be feeling like a second choice and feeling a little insecure because of Ricky. But EJ lifts her up and I genuinely saw her smile. This boy has her back whenever. The man she can lean on and truly sees how special she is. She no longer feels alone now that she has his entire fam and other friends. She genuinely feels a place of belonging and happiness when she's the apple of his eye. Notice how happy she is? How happy this boy is? She's going through her own issues and she has found ground with EJ.
I was very doubtful when they started hinting at a romantic direction. Because EJ would be used as plot device again for a girl to get to Ricky.😤 This man doesn't deserve to be second best to anyone, just like Gina.😑 That's why I'm still hesitant on shipping them at least temporarily. EJ needs to be something even more special to Gina. They need to show each other how special and treasured they are to each other despite feeling like rejects. They are each other's source of comfort.
Tumblr media
I'm sure they can keep EJ at East High for the next season. Whether it's the drama club, or the AV club or going to a local college. So he will be there for Gina. I don't know how they can work out a relationship with much distance as Rini's fell out when she moved away. So, if EJ leaves again, it'll again shake up Gina. Her being worried whether he'll date college girls, second thoughts, etc. I don't want them to go through that. And if they do move on to romantic Portwell, make sure it's not plot device for Rina. So you can either have Portwell endgame or Rina Endgame.
Basically I want Gina to be treated so right that she understands she doesn't need Ricky. And when he does ask her out, and he makes her feel like a second choice or a rebound, she says NO. Because EJ has helped regain her self assurance. Eventually I want Gina to confide in EJ about her and Ricky. EJ is jealous but also angry about how Ricky has been hurting her. And becomes damn protective of his 'babe'. Ricky gets jealous of their relationship, restarting Ricky and EJ's old rivalry. But this time, it's not because Gina is his girlfriend, but because she's EJ's best friend who he has a crush on and wants what's best for her.
If it's meant to be Rina endgame
EJ- RICKY, YOU IDIOT! You have no clue how to treat her right. You don't put her first. You mislead her. Get the hell away from her! She's too powerful and beautiful, she doesn't deserve your scraps. I know how she feels for you. I wish I were you. I would treat her like a queen. I don't mind even waiting years till she's ready. She deserves that. You're so lucky you have even a small chance that I may never have. So get your act together, prove you're worth it to win her over. All I want is for her to be happy. Even if it's with someone else. And maybe then I'll stop threatening you to stay away from her.😠
Ricky- .....I don't know what I'm more scared of. Change, or losing the girl I fell for or YOU. Okay, losing her but you're a close second.😬
If it's Portwell endgame.
Ricky- I messed up. Make sure you don't mess up with her. You'll regret it forever.
EJ- I'd rather get hit by thousand basketballs than ever hurt her. I'll be her plus one and her best friend until she's ready to be with me. I know she's ready now too. But I want her to know I'm willing to wait till she graduates before we make it official. I'm in it for the long game.
As for their age gap. I'm 100% sure Portwell won't kiss this season. If they do, it'll be next when Sofia turns 18. They are professional actors who are cast because they are the perfect fit for the role and are expected to carry out the storyline. But I suppose fearing some outbursts, they might delay Sofia kissing anyone till next season. It's so weird because Olivia was maybe 17 when Matt was 21-22 when they kissed in season one. But no one had a problem with that. But for this, they do. Remember, they are professional actors. They are acting! Sometimes, actors are over 10 years apart (but above 18) and act as romantic partners.
As for their characters, they are only two years apart. That's hardly any difference once you're over the age of 18. Age of consent is 16. But adults above 18 are only allowed to have sex with adults above 18. So, age isn't a problem here because EJ is a gentleman and is genuinely interested in her and isn't trying to get in her pants. So age isn't the issue when it comes to dating. It's the maturity. Gina is very mature and gives very sound advice. But I can see EJ being patient enough till she turns 18 just to kiss her because he loves her. 😚
As for the Ashlyn remark, "You look like a kid to me rn". He was JOKING.😂 Don't take things out of context. I tell my cousin sister that all the time. But she's three years younger than me and a grown adult. I don't see her as a kid but it's just a cousin teasing her younger cousin that's she's a little immature. I'm Matt's age and I'm very mature for my age and since I was a teenager, I always matched up with boys a little older than me. Now that I'm in my early 20s, I've dated boys even close to 30. So age is just a number.
EJ dating Gina and giving her quick kisses is fine. But to have a strong sexual element in their relationship (including making out), he'll have to wait till she's 18+. And I'm sure for that he'll wait till she's ready even past her early 20s. Age is really just a number and we can't help who we fall in love with. Trust me, I've been there.😂 So I can see EJ feeling conflicted about his feelings that are clear at this point.
They might not be a perfect fit, but they make each other sooo happy. They deserve a lot more than a short lived fling.😟 They are either endgame or Rina is. You can't have both as a Rina unless you're an EJ hater who wants him to exist as plot device. Nope! He's sooo much more precious than that.
But Jack on the other hand....I'm okay if he's the one to make Ricky or EJ jealous. Because he's just been introduced and it's okay if a character is used, but only once, for someone else to realize their feelings. 💁🏽‍♀️
In short.
Ricky needs help and needs to be on his own. No girlfriends allowed.🙅🏽‍♀️🚫
Needs to give both Gina and Nina space for them to grow on their own too.🌳
Ricky needs to understand the core of his problems and become more adaptable via therapy. Maybe the psychologist will point out his unresolved feelings for Gina, or he will conclude it himself. And in comes Ricky-pining-for-Gina season three.
Ricky needs to fully get over Nina before he moves on to anyone. Same for Gina if Portwell were to happen. No one deserves to be second choice.
Gina isn't Ricky's cushion. She's a living person with strong feelings for him and shouldn't be subjected to share his pain. She already struggles with her own issues.
Ricky needs to stay single till he wins back Gina and prove he's worth it. He needs to show even if another girl wants him, he'll never quit on Gina ever again. Even if he has to watch her be with someone else. *cough parallels*.
It's either romantic Rina then Portwell endgame OR Portwell flirty besties but Rina endgame. You and I can choose only one because my boy EJ shouldn't be used as plot device for a girl to leave for Ricky ever again.
Portwell's age difference can be practically solved and isn't much of an issue unless they get hot and heavy before Gina turns 18 which is impossible considering this is Disney. 🤣🤣
Jack and Gina will be plot device material and purely so sentimental to us OG Andi Mack fans. More than any ship, this is what I'm looking for. Sort of an Andi Mack crack ship for season 3a. It's gonna be soooo funny. 😍😂
Tumblr media
I respect everyone's ship. I see what you're seeing. And I'm not going to invalidate your ship. But unless it's done right, I won't jump from the Rina ship. I liked Rini. I like Portwell. I like AU Juffy crackship haha.😂 But as for me, I'm still holding on to Rina slowburn.
Preparing myself for the pain. 😭🔥
(But if I had to pair two characters without Disney getting in the way, it would be Gini. The power duo. Undeniable chemistry. They can be written so well because of their layered relationship and contrasting personalities.🤩 The classic rivals to friends to lovers. But that's a talk for another day lmao.)
Thanks for reading my opinion, Wildcat!🐱❤
