"Don't understand why. The children have never been able to stabilize a vorn's length, nevermind cementing in any sort of age to this planet. And we hardly know when I came to inhabit it."
"Very silly. What is Christmas? Is it fun?"

Accidental Family
Hey folks! This is one of two fics for the six month celebration of this blog! Woohoo! Blood on the Ice is one of the most popular series I've written, and expanding it into Josie’s (@prohibitionincurls ) Winging It world with her was unbelievably fun. Disclaimer: one of the OCs has ADHD and it is a central theme of the story--while Josie based some of his characteristics on her own experience, we both recognize that this is not a one-size-fits-all situation. Thank you again for six amazing months, and I hope you enjoy!
Lots of love,
Eve <3
TW for mentioned injury
“Oh my god, they’re gonna kill me,” the kid whispered in a wavering voice, sounding much younger than he actually was as he left the penalty box.
“They’re not going to kill you,” Bowie soothed, still watching the tunnel where Remus had disappeared mere minutes earlier. From what he saw, there had been a bit of blood, but the bruising didn’t look too bad. Then again, there had barely been enough time for anything to visibly swell before he was whisked away.
“Can I just stay in the box?” Felix cast a look toward the Lions bench and his voice cracked. “They can’t yell at me in the box, right?”
“Hey. Look at me, Marty.” Bowie took him by the shoulders and gave him a gentle shake. “The Lions are good guys. They’re not going to hurt you, but you did just fuck up one of their best friends. What would you do if someone hit me in the face?”
“Come on, man, I’m a terrible fighter. I don’t know how well I’d be able to defend your honor after something like that. It was an accident. Do you think they know it was an accident? Should I go tell them?”
“I know. They know. Loops definitely knows. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re a little cold at first.” He ruffled the rookie’s hair and turned back to the game; the Lions were moving fast and brutal, slicing right through their defense for yet another goal. Shit. Felix clearly felt bad enough already--losing the game wouldn’t make him feel any better.
They ended up losing the game.
Bowie had figured it might happen; he would have had the same fire if it had been his teammate that got clocked like that. Hell, he used to have the same fire when he and Remus had played together, so he completely understood.
That did not change the fact that once they got home, Felix was still borderline inconsolable. The 18-year-old wasn’t technically billeting with them, but the apartment he was renting just so happened to be in the same building, on the same floor, and right across the hall from his and Simon’s. This led to an informal adoption of the rookie and he was around their house at least five times a week, if not more.
Felix Martin was a good kid, and that idea was confirmed when Kronk immediately took a liking to him; the cat loved nobody but the three of them. Bowie was grateful that he and Simon were there to quell some of the homesickness that came from moving out to a new city on his own for the first time. The transition was always tough, but they could provide a little support.
They parted ways from the team when the bus got back from the rink and drove to their building in silence. Once they made their way up the stairs and down the hall, Felix moved to go back to his apartment.
“Nope,” Bowie said immediately, placing a hand on his shoulder and steering him through the door to his and Simon’s place. It wasn’t a good idea for Felix to be alone right now--there was nothing to do alone after a loss aside from beat himself up about it, and Bowie would be damned before he let that happen.
Simon and Kronk were perched on the couch, but they both moved into the kitchen as soon as the door clicked closed. Simon took one look at the pair and carefully wrapped his arms around Felix; the kid practically melted. The three of them stood there for a moment until Simon pulled back a bit and tilted his head toward the living room. Felix nodded and Bowie followed the two, sharing the couch with Simon while the rookie curled up in the large armchair diagonal to them.
He...well, if Bowie was being honest, Felix looked like hell. He chewed his lower lip like an anxious beaver and fiddled with the loose threads of the closest armrest; everything about him screamed discomfort. Bowie caught Simon’s worried glance in his periphery and let out a slow breath, trying to relieve at least a little of the tension in the room.
“You don’t have to relive it if you don’t want to. I saw the game. But if you want to talk about it…” Simon trailed off with a significant look.
Felix sighed and his shoulders caved in a bit. “It was just one of those moments. All of a sudden, I didn’t really have a grasp on what was going on, which feels like shit because I’ve been doing pretty well so far. I dunno. It was just...bad.”
That was it. Bowie knew Felix had seemed a little off. When Felix mentioned he had ADHD at the start of the season during one of their ‘getting to know your neighbor’ chats, Bowie hadn’t thought much of it. But as they grew closer, he began to notice when Felix forgot to eat or drink, or got overwhelmingly excited about something, or when he suddenly spaced out. It wasn’t just Felix being Felix.
The whole team stepped up and became intensely protective, of course. They not only helped him remember meal times, but also scheduling, directions, and everything in between. Bowie felt especially responsible for reasons he didn’t entirely understand--there was just something about the kid’s sweet heart that struck a chord.
He also knew that Felix was highly emotionally intelligent, but had no concept of whether people liked him or not. He was someone who assumed the worst, all the time. So, Bowie decided to do the only thing he knew would work: after a few more beats of uncomfortable silence, he pulled his phone out, tapped a few buttons, and pressed ‘call’.
“Hey, Remus, are you alive?”
An amused snort came from the speaker even as Felix blanched. “Hello to you, too, Bowie. Jeez, you’re worse than Sirius.  I’m one hundred percent alive, just a little swollen. Your rookie’s got a helluva shot, but maybe tell the kid to hit the puck and not my face next time.”
Felix flushed red and put his face between his knees, though hearing the laughter in Remus’s voice and knowing that he was okay clearly took some of the weight off his shoulders. Bowie whooped internally and shot him a quick, reassuring smile.
“Yeah, the kid’s got spirit, but he’s also got ADHD. He’s great most of the time, but sometimes under extreme pressure he can’t figure out where the fuck he--or anything else around him--is. Something about focusing or neurons firing the wrong way, maybe? Either way, it’s why he’s a terrible fuckin’ driver.”
Felix flopped back against the chair with a groan. “How the hell am I supposed to know how far away the cars around me are based on the mirrors? And how am I supposed to park?!”
Remus’s laugh echoed once again. “Don’t ask me, kid, I’m not allowed to drive, either. Not because I’m ADHD, but because I’m terrible at it.”
“You can say that again!” a muffled voice called from behind Remus.
“Please excuse my fiance,” Remus said politely. “He’s a jackass who’s trying to make me lay down again.”
Felix smiled, though it was a bit pained. “I didn’t get a chance to apologize earlier. That stick was totally on me. And--I mean, I heard some of the guys talking afterward and it sounded like you got pretty banged up, so I’m really sorry. Like, really sorry.”
“Hey, woah, you’re fine,” Remus soothed. Bowie recognized his ‘talking to newbies’ voice and hid a smile in the cuff of his hoodie. “It’s the name of the game, after all. Did Bowie ever tell you about the time I accidentally checked him into a wall? Or when I broke his visor with a puck? For context, this was when we were on the same team.”
“Or that time you kicked my legs out from under me and sent me sprawling across the ice during practice.”
“That one was on purpose.”
Bowie glared at the phone, but Felix was snickering and his grin was genuine. It calmed him a bit. “Thanks, Loops.”
“No problem, kiddo.” Remus paused for a moment, then mumbled something inaudible to someone in the background before clearing his throat. “Bowie.”
“Yes?” Remus had never been a wild card, per se, but he certainly had a knack for asking strange questions out of the blue.
“Did you accidentally adopt a child or do my ears deceive me?”
Bowie was about to laugh at the absurdity of it, but then he took a moment to think, looking back and forth between Simon and Felix. “Fuckin’--maybe I did, Re, but he’s ours now. And if that’s the case, I’m going to formally request that you tell your fiance to quit being mean to my son.”
Remus laughed on the other end of the line. “Will do. Felix seems like a sweetheart, I’m glad he’s got you two.”
Bowie nodded with a slight smile, even though Remus couldn’t see him. “So are we. I can practically sense Sirius hovering, so go let your boyfriend fuss over you for a little while.”
An offended noise came from Remus’s side, followed by a lower laugh and the click of the call ending.
Simon looked Felix dead in the eyes. “I’m seconding the ‘kid’ thing. You may just barely be a legal adult, but it doesn’t mean we can’t adopt you. Congrats on your new gay dads.”
Felix’s bright laugh sent a wave of relief through Bowie. “You guys are only, like, eight years older than me.”
“Silence, spawn,” Simon said, pointing a playful finger at him as his grin widened into something sweet and lopsided. “Now both of you need to come eat something. I made cookies while you were getting pushed around for a living.”
Bowie was still worried about Remus’ face--he made a mental note to call the next day to check in--but all his concerns disappeared as Felix scooped the cat up for a snuggle and followed Simon into the kitchen. They may have lost the game, but he would lose a million Cups to keep that moment forever: his Simon fussing over them both, his cat purring in pure bliss, and his kid settling into place at last.

my virtues uncounted (4)
winner of august’s second monthly fic poll! hope you enjoy!
warnings: antagonist/villain remus, panic, injury, blood, cliffhanger
previous chapters
-
In the time it took for everyone else to get worked into a panic, Logan had come up with a few theories on why, exactly, their connection with Thomas would be so suddenly muted.
Of course, many of those theories were only useful if they could be proven, and seeing as they  had a limited amount of time and space to work with, he could set them aside to figure out the direct, exact cause another time.
For now, the priority was finding their way back home. Once they were able to reconnect with their part of the mindscape, their connection with Thomas would also hopefully repair itself.
“Think of our current status as dealing with some temporary interference,” he told the others. “Once we leave the subconscious, our metaphorical signals should reach Thomas again.”
“‘Should?’” Anxiety asked, looking dubious.
“And how are we to leave when this shadowy scourge is thwarting our every escape attempt?” Roman added, glaring balefully up at Anxiety.
“Hey, you technically haven’t made any escapes yet, so I technically haven’t thwarted anything yet.” Anxiety ignored Roman’s exasperated expression with ease, shrugging. “Schrodinger’s Thwarting.”
“Anxiety, kiddo,” Patton stepped a little closer, pulling them all back on track, “I don’t think we should stay down here for too much longer. It’s not good for us to be disconnected from our rooms like this.”
“And that’s not even mentioning the fact that we don’t know how Thomas is functioning without his core sides connected to him,” Logan added, hoping that the other Side was in a reasonable mood.
Anxiety kept his face neutral, but Logan could see the little crease between his eyebrows and the way he went slightly paler. “It’s still too dangerous to risk without a plan.”
“And with a plan?” Logan pressed.
Anxiety’s shoulders bunched up even further, and for a moment he was worried he’d gone too far, but then the other Side let out an irritated sigh.
“If it’s actually that concerning, and I can more than imagine how it could be, then. I guess. We could try. With a plan,” he emphasized as Patton perked up excitedly. “One that I agree to.”
“That’ll only take us a lifetime,” Roman grumbled, but even he seemed revitalized now that they were getting somewhere.
Logan found himself getting excited as well. “In that case, I need all the information you have on routes to neutral territory and the weather cycles here.”
Anxiety materialized the data into files on a touchscreen phone, which would work quite efficiently as a display considering their size. “Good luck figuring anything out. This end of the mindscape is way more… chaotic. Stuff’s always changing.”
“I don’t mind a challenge,” Logan reassured him, and then set to work making spreadsheets and comparing trends. It was almost soothing.
In the background, he could hear Patton asking about who they were most likely to encounter if they attempted to beeline for the neutral zone, and Roman bartering for possession of his sword back. (The trade seemed to be settling on Anxiety handing over the sword in exchange for no stabbing and no nicknames for a week. Roman was perhaps more reluctant to stop generating witty quips than necessary.)
As Logan suspected, when Anxiety didn’t feel implicitly threatened by them, he was much more open. Though, that might have also been the exposure to Patton’s determined friendliness, which Anxiety seemed to eye with the wariness of a stray cat. He’d have to bring this up the next time they had a debate about the effectiveness of so many of Thomas’s Sides being hidden away.
Now wasn't the time for that, however. Now was the time for action, as Roman liked to proclaim.
“I’ve found the best path for us to take,” he announced, drawing all eyes to him.
Probably no time for an illustrative powerpoint to demonstrate how he’d come to this conclusion. Perhaps later. A summary of the plan would do fine.
Roman and Patton glanced up at the large side frequently, but Anxiety listened with a critical attentiveness that Logan found himself appreciating. At the end, his brow was furrowed, but he didn’t seem fully decided one way or the other.
“This plan will only work in our current time frame,” Logan cautioned. “As you said, the landscape of this place is always shifting, so we need to take advantage of the patterns that we can. I expect getting lost would not end well.”
Anxiety nodded, and then seemed to come to a decision.
“If you’re certain that it’s the best time… Fine, I’ll believe you.” Anxiety grumped, his body language already displaying several signs that he was growing nervous at the idea.
Logan blinked once, genuinely surprised that he had convinced the other Side, before regaining his composure. No time to be touched by Anxiety’s apparent faith in him. “All the data I reviewed points to this being the best opportunity.”
“One condition,” Anxiety said, holding up a finger. “If it seems like the plan has failed and things get dangerous, our backup plan is giving me access so I can rise up.”
Roman raised a sharp eyebrow, his sword once again sheathed at his side. “I seem to distinctly recall you freaking out about that idea?”
Anxiety made a face at him. “Yeah, and I’ll continue to not like it, but if it keeps you losers from getting discorporated, I’ll deal. Do you guys agree or not?”
Logan traded looks with the other two, and then nodded. “It’s a reasonable backup plan.”
“Sure,” Anxiety snorted, and then hesitated for a moment before reaching out and placing his uninjured hand palm up on the table next to them.
Patton plopped himself down immediately, but Roman wasn’t as eager.
“I am not going back in your pocket,” Roman told him, unimpressed. “Lint on my outfit is a no-no, let alone giant lint.”
“Your outfit is already ruined,” Anxiety snapped back, rolling his eyes. The blood on the white outfit somewhat resembled a candy cane.
Logan raised a hand to interject before it could become an argument. “If I may suggest, your hood seems like it would both give us more space and allow for a vantage point to watch your back.”
“I can watch my own back,” Anxiety growled, and then sighed. “Just don’t fall out.”
He was exceedingly careful as he reached behind him to the hood of his jacket, and the three of them had no problem getting in, though they did end up knocking a few limbs against each other in the process.
As Logan expected, it was much easier to grip the folds of the hoodie fabric and looking over the edge of it gave them a vertigo-inducing view.
“Okay,” Anxiety said, sounding as though he was speaking more to himself than them. “Let’s do this. It’s probably going to crash and burn horribly, but whatever.”
“Remind me to speak with you about cognitive distortions later,” Logan mused.
From where he was peeking over Virgil’s shoulder, Patton cheered. “Woohoo, you can do it!”
“With our talents to help, we can’t fail,” Roman added, making some sort of dramatic flourish that Anxiety couldn't even see. “Onwards!”
“What am I, a horse?” Anxiety shot back, and then firmed his shoulders slightly and stepped to his door. “Remember, low in the hoodie so you aren’t seen.”
After receiving a chorus of agreements, he took an audible breath and stepped through the door.
The hoodie bounced slightly against his back with every step, but nothing too jarring. Logan resisted the completely illogical urge to hold his breath as they descended the creaking stairs.
After a long moment, Anxiety’s shoulders lowered slightly. “Nobody’s down here.”
He picked his way carefully through the living area, until they were back where they started, at that huge, weathered front door. It seemed much less insurmountable from Anxiety’s eye level. The other Side grabbed the knob and pushed it open, stepping over the threshold.
They all let out a breath of relief.
From there, Logan’s attention was consumed with providing directions in a low mutter, carefully navigating their way through the shifting, fog-covered landscape. Patton occasionally pointed out a distant landmark he maybe recognized, mostly unhelpfully.
Still, all factors considered, they made it a fair distance before things went wrong.
Anxiety had just taken the first step over a wooden bridge when the hair-raising cackle split the air behind them. At Logan’s side, Roman latched onto his wrist with an iron grip.
Anxiety held still for a moment longer before turning around, his hands tucked into his pockets in a faux gesture of casualness. “Remus. I thought silently stalking people in the dead of night was too subtle for you?”
There was an unpleasant crack of bone that made Logan glad he couldn’t see Remus. “Wouldn’t want to scare the little emo and his little uninvited stowaways off, would I?”
The three of them exchanged panicked looks. He knew?
Anxiety took a step back, hissing in frustration. “Are you the reason they’re like this? Or Dee?”
Another cackle. “The enchantment was all me! Double D would ruin my fun if he knew. But you’re no spoilsport! I can already feel all the exciting new additions to this game you’re thinking up in that squishy grey matter of yours. We can have a little fun together! Whaddya say?”
Anxiety took another step back, his back twitching with the urge to turn and flee. “Remus. C’mon. Think about Thomas.”
The atmosphere suddenly darkened, sending a chill down Logan’s spine.
“Maybe he’s the one who should be thinking about us,” Remus said, the grin in his voice suddenly much more menacing. “I know you’re tired of being ignored, Anxiety. You’re just as sick of our snakey friend’s interference as I am. Without them, there will be space for us!”
“Thomas needs them,” Anxiety urged, his rough voice a sharp contrast to Remus’s singsong encouragement.
“Puh-lease, we’re not taking them away forever! The Core Bores are like cockroaches; you just can’t get rid of ‘em, even when you crush their little heads.” A thoughtful pause. “They’re just about cockroach-sized now, too!”
Roman’s grip grew painfully tight.
Anxiety shook his head, jostling them slightly, and then began to slowly back across the bridge. The tension in him seemed to scream that he wanted to turn tail and flee, give into his flight instinct. But he couldn’t turn without putting them directly in Remus’s line of sight.
“Don’t be so antsy! I know you want to be noticed as bad as I do,” Remus advanced with slow, predatory steps.
Anxiety was too far from the other end of the bridge. He’d be caught.
Logan made pointed eye contact with the others, and held his free hand out, palm down.
“What I want doesn’t matter here. It’s too risky! It’s. Not. Happening.” They were stepping faster now, the noise overlapping.
Patton nodded once, placing his own hand on top. They both looked to Roman.
“Aw, that’s what I never got about you, emo. You’re always too scared to jump in and grab the bull by the horns! A little goring can be its own kind of fun, y’know.”
Roman’s expression finally turned certain, and he slammed his own hand down, completing the stack.
All of them felt it when the balance shifted, and there was a heartbeat of stillness before everything erupted.
Anxiety turned on his heel and bolted, seconds before a manic, ear-splitting scream split the air from behind them.
“YOU’RE LEAVING US!”
“Rise up!” Roman screeched, clinging to the hood’s fabric for dear life. “Rise up!”
“I don’t know how!” Anxiety yelled back, ducking and weaving through the fog-filled forest that had formed around them. “I’m trying to— it’s not the same as just appearing!”
“You have to stay in one spot and focus,” Patton said, trying hard to keep his voice calm. “You can do this!”
Anxiety came to a standstill, and for a few breathless seconds, they waited.
“It’s… it’s not working!”
“Try and focus on where you want to appear. Let yourself rise, don’t try to control it—“ Logan caught a flicker of movement behind them. “Watch out!”
Anxiety twisted out of the way, a double headed axe thunking into the trunk of a nearby tree. He clenched his fists, closing his eyes tightly, and Logan finally felt the familiar sensation of their part of the mindscape dropping into place around them.
He caught one last glimpse of Remus, body twisted into a throwing gesture and gaze almost shocked, before the scene changed to their living room.
Anxiety staggered, face pale, and the lot of them ended up sprawled over the length of the staircase, ungraceful but undoubtedly home and the right size once more.
A moment spent catching their breath, and then.
“We made it!” Patton yelled, voice cracking in relief as he threw his arms out, laid out on his back.
From the carpeted landing he was still facedown on, Roman grunted an exhausted affirmation.
“It was a close call,” Logan said, pushing himself up and dusting his tie off. “We’ll need to take precautions for the future.”
“Good thing we have Anxiety!” Patton said brightly. “He’s an expert at precautionary measures!”
“As long as he doesn’t precaution Thomas into never going outside again,” Roman muttered, with no real aggression to his tone. He seemed just as glad that Anxiety had gotten them all out of there, if not more.
Anxiety didn’t rise to the bait. Logan turned to thank the other Side properly, and was met with the sight of him curled in over himself, a hunched over ball of hoodie. “... Anxiety?”
With a hoarse cry of pain, the Side yanked something from his side. A comically oversized throwing knife, drenched in a slick coating—
“Oh,” Anxiety said in a small voice, struggling to stem the bloodflow from the stab wound in his torso. “Shit.”
Within seconds, a dark stain began to spread, and Logan immediately lurched forwards, trying to seal the wound, erase it, even just put enough pressure on it to clot the bleeding—
Anxiety inhaled sharply. Nothing about the nature of the wound changed. It wasn’t healing. Logan’s hands were covered in warm-wet-red and nothing was healing.
Past the ringing in his ears, he could hear the others yelling behind him, trying to accelerate Anxiety’s integration into the conscious mind.
All he could focus on was Anxiety’s face, tight with pain and resignation.
“It’s fine,” he muttered, the hitch in his voice betraying him. “We can’t die. It’s fine. Can you— Can you feel Thomas?”
Logan nodded stitedly. The connection was faint, but growing stronger.
Anxiety nodded once, sharply. “Good. That’s— That’s all that matters.”
Then, like the question had been all that was keeping him awake, he went limp like a puppet with strings cut.

Story Description: After you reveal your inexperienced sexual status to your bestfriend, Jungkook grapples with the news, startled by the idea that the girl he always thought could get anyone, is a virgin. After finding his porn at 3AM, you decide that maybe it’s about time to stain the white sheets of your world with the colors of a forbidden fruit Jungkook seems to have in the palm of his hands.

← CHAPTERS → CHAPTER 11
It's 3 pm on a Monday.
You're in a soundproof meeting room in the library. It's one of those meeting rooms where the walls are completely glass; you can see out but people can't see in. It's horribly distracting but wonderful for those who love to people watch. You, however, dislike people watching and wish you were in bed instead.
There's a big white table in the middle of the room with eight white plastic seats around it. Some of us have come straight from lectures with fresh hot coffees held close to chests. Some of us have come before going to lectures or like you and Claudia, before going to the student council office.
The room is only meant to fit 8 or 9 people but in this particular case, we've fit about 12 people.
You came early with Claudia to grab the unbooked room, so you're in a chair comfortably waiting for everyone to arrive, nervously at your fingernails. People like Yoongi and Hoseok and Mabel are packed like sardines up against the wall.
And Jungkook has obviously come from the gym, his hair still damp from the shower he likes to have when he's finished working out. You haven't met eye contact with him but you checked him out when he was on his phone in front of you.
You sigh, as you think about how delicious he looks in his white cotton button-up. It wasn't fair.
That bastard.
"Sorry, I'm late," Wendy whispers, closing the glass door behind her, standing in front of it next to Yoongi. "The health department are having an influenza talk, wanted to make sure I had enough information."
"That's wise," you smile, swallowing the lump in your throat. "Is that everyone?"
Claudia does a headcount before finally smiling.
It was glamping season and Claudia had pulled Yoongi, Hoseok, Jungkook, the girls and you into a meeting to discuss how we'd utilize it. Apparently, this is an important part of university culture that you had blissfully ignored prior.
Ever since Halloween, you've been throwing yourself into group activities with the girls. It's actually been so nice just to be apart of a group of girls who are positive and optimistic while being study focused and career-driven. You've been blessed.
But you miss Jungkook.
It's been two weeks of discomfort with the way things were left last time.
He's been busy and you've been busy with study.
You feel on the edge.
Maybe a holiday is exactly what you need. You'll be refreshed by the fresh air, you'll be around more people, you'll have fun talking about non-Jungkook and non-law study things. You'll be comfortable and fed and warm and loved.
Whatever Claudia organizes, hell, you're in.
The excitement pulsed through you as you fantasized making smores with the girls, playing truth or dare, drinking and having fun.
As you daydream, the fantasy shifts to camping with Jungkook and you're eternally grateful to be pulled out of your thoughts as your phone buzzes in your pocket because hell, it was getting romantic all up in your brain.
Shaking your head, you pull out your phone and read the message.
Jungkook: Hey, you look nice today
You gape down at the plain blue jeans and Harvard grey hoodie. Your attire wasn't exactly aimed to impress.
You: I'm not dressing to impress but thanks
Jungkook: You're finally responding to me? Woohoo Jungkook: Hi
You: Focus
Sighing, you slip your phone back into your pocket. To be honest, you haven't spoken to or spent time with Jungkook in a while. The embarrassment of what happened on Halloween plagued your thoughts and you couldn't bare confronting those feelings around him.
So embarrassing.
And it's not like you're his girlfriend or anything, this was okay.
Jungkook leans on his chair to meet your eyes. You blush when he smiles. That stupid smile, making your heart flutter.
"Y/N," Claudia claps her hands, "I know Jungkook can be distracting but are you even listening."
You startle, looking away from him to Claudia. "Sorry, carry on."
"My fault, she's still not talking to me," Jungkook laughs, stretching his hands behind his head. You can tell he has more to say with words hanging off the tip of his tongue. "Do me a favor Claudia and put her tent next to mine. She can't run away from me then."
Everyone in the room groans.
"Excuse me?" Frowning at Jungkook, you raise your voice. "You ugly ass noodlehead. Imma make sure I'll be in the tent furthest away from you!"
"Oh yeah," Jungkook chuckles, leaning forward, he places his fists underneath his chin. "With who? You'll just end up in my tent anyway, who are you kidding here?"
Heat dusts your cheeks. "That's not true! I'll just stay with Seulgi!"
"Oh hello," Seulgi winks, licking her lips at you. "You can stay with me in my tent any time."
Sinking in your chair, you cover your face with your hands. "Oh god. Seulgi, shut up."
"Don't worry babe, unlike Jungkook, I'll keep it in my pants."
Wendy laughs loudly, interrupting any opportunity to clap back. "Oh my god, this suddenly got way more fun. I'm coming!"
"Of course it did," Mabel adds, fanning herself with her book, "You're all a bunch of whores we get it. Will we have to sleep on air beds and is there an option to sleep somewhere else if we have to. I can't stand those things."
Jungkook agrees. "They make too much noise when you move."
"See? Thanks, Jungkook," Mabel smiles. "And they bloody deflate in the middle of the night. I don't want rocks in my ass."
"Mabel, we're on beds." Claudia groans, flicking her hair over her should as she takes out her computer. Connecting her MacBook with the big screen, she opens her prepared PowerPoint slideshow.
The first slide shows a glamping location in Busan that she liked. "Alright, my Busan babes in the room. Welcome to camp cozy."
To say the campsite was beautiful was an understatement.
There were four big khaki tents and they were already set up at the site with large beds and furniture within. Fairy lights all over the place, fluffy blankets, fluffy pillows, big bean bags. Christ. It was perfect. "From my expert research and communication skills, each tent comes with a double bed, so we have beds for 8 people."
Yoongi raises his hand. "I have a question."
Claudia nods.
"I don't want to share a tent with anyone else because I plan on having a lot of sex in my tent, where do I go?"
Everyone in the room snorts.
"What? I'm asking what you're all thinking?"
Wendy walks across the room to slap his back. She chuckles madly. "I agree."
"I'm not bumping uglies with you Wendy, don't act like we're on the same team," Yoongi shakes her hand off his back. "Although if my date doesn't turn up, I'm happy to cuddle and stroke your hair and talk about our boy problems."
She stands in front of him, blinking in confusion. "Are you being serious because that actually sounds so fucking nice."
He laughs loudly at her. "Of course I'm not."
Wendy pouts, raising her shoulders to her cheeks as she walks back to her side of the room. "Asshole."
Claudia clicks next on the slideshow, showing alternative options. "Our options are 4 big tents for 8 people or 10 if you're little, and if you want privacy, don't come," pointing to the beach she cheekily adds, "I hear the sand is a nice mattress, why don't you find out Yoongi?"
"I've never had sex on a beach before," Yoongi deflates, "Am I okay to bring my own tent then? I'll pitch it myself, I'll even drive down myself?"
"Sure," clicking onto the next slides, she goes through items we'll need and an estimate of the cost. "If anyone wants to help organize this?"
You're acutely aware your phone is buzzing in your pocket but you're also aware that it's Jungkook because he's on his phone and he's aiming it at you. Biting your bottom lip, you raise out of your seat.
"Should we split up into groups to help organize this? Transport, Food, Cleaning, Finance, Activities?"
Claudia beams, finally happy someone was contributing to the organization of it. "That's a beautiful idea, oh bless your little cotton socks."
Everyone mutters between themselves as Claudia opens up her google document. You watch as she types your name under food and Jungkook's under transport.
"Is Y/N a good cook?" Hoseok asks Yoongi, crossing his arms across his chest. "I bet she is. She can cook for me any day. We love a kitchen bitch."
"She can like totally hear you," Mabel says, rolling her eyes. "And she is like 100% taken you giant ass."
"No, she isn't," Hoseok holds his hands up in surrender. "Last time I checked, she was single."
"Ugh, who even invited you," she stands up, walking over to him. "You're lucky I find you attractive otherwise, you'd be blOCKED from coming. Aren't you studying sociology or something."
You don't need to look at Jungkook to know that he's beaming in delight and is now a big fan of Mabel. The tension in the air between Jungkook and Hoseok makes you uncomfortable. You've never been put in a position like this before giving you were just a virgin like a couple of months ago and had no idea what a peen actually looked like.
"Looks like I have a fan." Hoseok steps closer to Mabel and whispers into her ear. No one knows what he says but she blushes and rushes out of the room.
"What'd you say to Mabel?" You ask concerned, she's never run off so fast.
"I have seduction superpowers," Hoseok winks at me. "Want me to come over and whisper in your ear too? Bet I can seduce you in less than a second."
"No thank you," You gulp, unsure what to say to that. Jungkook stands out of his chair, glaring at Hoseok. "Leave her alone bro."
"What?" Hoseok chuckles, winking at you again. "I'm just having a bit of fun with her. She's so kitten-like, makes me want to get to know her a bit more."
There's a possessive tone to Jungkook's defense that's both intimidating and sexy. "Well, don't. Shut the fuck up. Leave the girls alone."
"Am I not allowed to? She looks like she's enjoying it?
Seulgi sinks into her seat next to you.
"No, you aren't allowed to," You've never seen Jungkook so angry before. "She's mine, back off."
The whole room goes silent at that.
The tension in the room is palpable.
And your heart is pounding against your chest.
"Is that true," he asks you, goading you to speak up with his eyebrows. "Are you Jungkook's girlfriend?"
Your heart is pounding so hard against your chest that it's deafening in your eats.
What am I supposed to say to that because I honestly am not his girlfriend officially, although it would be nice? This is not how I thought this meeting would go at all and quite frankly, I'm pissed. Jungkook's face is pink. It's the only thing I can focus on. I can't even remember what he asked me. He seems to want to know the answer to Hoseok's question as well, as though he doesn't know the answer either. Dumbass. They're all dummies. Who are these people and why are they putting me on the spot like this. I didn't ask for any of this, I'm just simple girl-
"Ooh, Jimin wants to get coffee," Yoongi giggles, interrupting your thoughts, softening the tension in the room as he gapes at his phone. "There's too much testosterone in this room, why not you both just fuck each other and get over it."
For a second you think Yoongi is referring to you and Jungkook.
Anger dissipates when Yoongi slaps Hoseoks ass. "Sounds like you both need to relieve some tension and normally, I enjoy a bit of torture but this is horrible. Claudia, message me with details, I'd love to come. It okay if I bring Jimin?"
She nods.
Yoongi doesn't say anything after that. He simply picks up his backpack, nods at Claudia before leaving the room. You wish you had the guts to do the same but you feel frozen and Claudia looks desperate for help now.
Hoseok sighs. "Looks like she's single my bro."
Jungkook says nothing to this.
He simply stares at you in an unreadable expression as you stand and walk towards him.
Gesturing for him to sit down, you pat his back to calm him, he leans into your touch like a kitten being scratched behind its ear. "Sit down and calm down, I don't know why you boys get off on tormenting girls but cut it out or I'll cut YOU out."
Jungkook apologizes while taking his seat.
"And you," Pointing at Hoseok, you scoff. "Who even are you? You don't get to speak to me or about me like that. Women aren't pieces of meat, we're human beings. Now, shut the hell up and keep your dick in your skirt and your tongue in your mouth."
The girls laugh behind you.
Claudia thanks you.
Fucking Hoseok.
You decide then and there, that when you go glamping, you'll piss in his shampoo.
Little bitch.
"Now that everyone's finished their periods. Jungkook, you're the team captain for transport, liaise with me so we can try and get a discount or something," she writes Seulgi's name underneath his, "Hoseok, how do you feel about organizing activities?"
He picks up his laptop bag. "I'm fine with any job you give me Claudia. As long as people aren't afraid of drinking games, we should be A-okay," he lifts his wrist, staring at his watch. "Naeun is pretty fun as well, can she work with me since Y/N can't?"
"Be careful Hoseok," Claudia warns, adding her name to the list, she finishes. "Anyone who isn't in a group by the end of the day will be on cleaning duties."
She then re-opens the map, showing us the trip location. You stare at the pictures as she flicks through them. There's something so nice about camping by the beach, a nice dip when it's too hot, a bonfire at night with the sound of cascading waves.
Your phone buzzes once more in your pocket. You pull it out, knowing it's going to be a message from the mousy brunette still huffing in anger.
Jungkook: Can we talk after this?
Looking above your phone, Jungkook tilts his head at you, a worried expression sits between his brows.
Taking a deep breath, you respond.
You: I'm hungry, want to get something to eat?
Jungkook: Can we go now?
You: When Claudia is finished.
"Claudia, are you done?" Jungkook asks, placing his hands together in prayer. "Please be done. I'm so hungry."
Seulgi frowns. "Is that what it is, hanger?"
Hoseok winks at Seulgi.
"Ugh, can someone fucking uninvite him," she gags loudly, "He might give us all ear chlamydia."
You watch the cocky little shit deflate. A bit of you feels sorry for him but after what he just pulled with you and Jungkook, hall hath no fury like a scorched betch.
"I guess this meeting is over then," Claudia sighs, closing her computer down as well. "I'll make us a group chat to discuss it."
Jungook loudly jumps out of his seat, the gloom worried appearance he previously wore, now replaced with pure happiness. "Yes, let's go eat Y/N!" He rushes over to your side of the table to help you pack up.
"Ooh, can I come?" Wendy and Seulgi both ask.
"No, "Jungkook pulls you out of your chair, patting your bum as you leave the meeting room. "We need to talk and eat, you guys can go eat and talk with someone else."
You don't even have enough time to say goodbye or apologies or tell Claudia you won't be coming to the council office because Jungkook is rushing you out of the room, down the aisles of the library and into the darkest parts of the university library.
You're going in the opposite direction to food as he takes you within the deep depths of the math and science department.
"Jungkook, where are you taking me?"
He hushes you. "We gotta talk."
Irritated, you stop. "Jungkook, I don't really want to talk, I wanna eat," turning around to face him, he grabs your shoulders, pushing you down the aisle backward. "JUNGKOOK!"
"You have no choice, we need to talk," He stops, then he looks left and right before softly pushing you up against the wall. It's clumsy and not at all sexy when Jungkook tries to bypass the big ass fake plant next to you and you slightly trip as he pushes you back up against the wall. His hold on you is strong, as he quite literally picks you up by the shoulders to help you stand.
"Now, You." he starts.
"No, you let me talk," You harshly whisper, "You gotta give a girl a warning and I'm starving so let's do this later."
Dropping his hands from your shoulders. He stares deeply into your eyes. "Shut up for a second will you? Or I'll make you shut up. I have that power you know."
"Jungkook, what the hell," you whisper, pushing his chest away from yours. "You could've just asked me to follow you, you didn't need to push me up against the damn wa-
You don't get to finish what you were saying because Jungkook slams his lips against yours, stopping the words from leaving your mouth. The kiss is startling but not unwelcome as you close your eyes and melt once again into him.
Moving his hand up against your body, he cups the back of your neck. He's unexpectedly rough as he grips on your hair, pulling your body against his. Your hands rest on his waist as you easily fall back into the rhythm.
He kisses you like he's starving like he hasn't had food in days.
Oh man, this boy.
Raising your hands, you hold his face tenderly, hoping he gets the point to soften the kiss. Kisses with Jungkook are always magical but this one had so much feeling. Each movement of his lips and his tongue were filled with unspoken words, fears, and anxieties. It was startling how much a kiss could say and how much this kiss overwhelmed you.
He holds you close, not wanting to let you go.
Your body shivers, sensitive to his touch as his warm hands continue touching you.
He loosens his grip on your hair, resting his warm palm on the back of your neck. It's a feeling you're familiar with, being held so tenderly.
Pulling away from the kiss, Jungkook leans his forehead on yours.
You both pant from the intensity of the emotions, your eyes still closed.
"It's been hell without you, Y/N," he catches his breath, his voice a soft whisper. "I can't take this anymore. I've reached my limit."
"What?" Opening your eyes in panic, your heart stops as you stare into his gentle brown eyes. Is he ...is he dumping you. "Wait, what do you mean by that Jungkook?"
He steps back, unable to meet you in the eyes. "I can't do this anymore. I can't hold myself back anymore. I'm getting jealous. I want to have you around all the time. I want you to study with me. I want you to call me in the morning and before you go to bed. I want to hold your hand when we walk around campus. I want people to know that you're mine and that I'm yours. I want to kiss you. I want to fuck you. I want to hold you as you cum. I want all of it. "
You're confused. "What? Jungkook, I-
He presses his hand up against your mouth.
"I don't like this uncertainty of who I am to you, I'm creating a boundary right here and I want it around us," He releases his finger to let you respond, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

NS13 Translations (S13E1 - Shintaro)
Lloyd: You're still in the mood for video games?!
Cole: Well I'm resting today, why can't I play some video games?
Lloyd: We've all been good for weeks, this place is a MESS! We've got to do the laundry, sweep the leaves, gather firewood, and let's not even talk about the repairs for the cannon blasters outside the walls!
Cole: Gah... just listening to that list made me tired. You really not gonna have a round?
Lloyd: Did you not hear what I just said? Cole, we've got a lot of things to do. Wait, what game is this?
Cole: Prime Empire, duh
Lloyd: wHAT?!
Cole: What do you mean "what", what's wrong with Prime Empire?
Lloyd: Oh nothing... except having been trapped in that game only to be turned into an Energy Cube?!
Cole: ....you really need to move on, Lloyd. Plus, it's not dangerous anymore. Unagami and Milton's fixed the issues. Now the game's hella fun! Oooh, I gotta focus on this part, I'm about to clear the level.
Lloyd: Well.... one round won't hurt, right?
[Lloyd jumps onto the couch and starts playing]
Jay: Argh, why are there so many fallen leaves?! We don't even HAVE trees in the monastery.
Nya: It blew in from over the wall, plus we've been away so long. First it was Aspheera, then we were in the Never-Realm and even got stuck in Prime Empire.
Jay: It's gonna take FOREVER to clean up ...unless?
Nya: NOPE, no wacky ideas.
Jay Aw, why not? We could clear the yard in a flash!
Nya: If Master Wu found out we used Spinjitzu to clean the leaves in the yard, he's absolutely going to blow!
Jay: Well he doesn't HAVE to find out, he's been indoors all day with his scrolls!
Nya: Don't be like that-
[Jay does Spinjitzu]
Jay: HELL YEA, HAHAH
Jay: Uh my apologies, Master Wu, I just wanted to clean up faster. Eh? What's wrong?
Nya: What's going on? Why is Master Wu skipping out on an opportunity to lecture you? That's odd.
Jay: You're right, it's like he doesn't even SEE us.
PIXAL: Good morning
Mailman: Good morning
[Wu sighs]
Lloyd: Master Wu? Are you alright? Nya and Jay said you seemed to have something on your mind.
Wu: Huh? Oh, nothing. I'm fine. I'm just studying a scroll.
Lloyd: But you haven't even opened the scroll, you're just staring blankly at the window
Misako: I have noticed that too, Wu.
Wu/Lloyd: Misako/Mother!
Misako: You've been distant lately, like you've become someone else entirely. Do you have something weighing on your mind?
Wu: (sighs) I feel... how should I say this... I feel like I've gotten old...
Lloyd: You? Old? Master, what are you even saying?! You hardly look a day over a hundred years! You're not old at all! Not to mention you're the most amazing martial artist I've ever met, your Spinjitzu is so much stronger than the rest of us combined! Plus you've even defeated everyone at the same time before! You remember that?
Wu: Yes... I do remember. That was interesting.
Lloyd: The reason we can protect the Ninjago of today was because of your teachings, Master Wu.
Wu: That is why you young people have inherited Ninjago. The missions of late have helped you become independent.
Lloyd: That's NOT how it is!
Wu: Even without me, you've managed to escape the Prime Empire safely, defeat Aspheera, and even saved the Never-Realm. The truth remains that you six no longer need me, Lloyd.
Lloyd: THINGS ARE NOT LIKE THAT!
Wu: It's alright, Lloyd. It is the fate that all mortals have to face eventually. There will come a day when the student, too, has to continue the journey on their own.
//In the Yard//
Kai:  That's just unbelievable!
Nya: You sure there hasn't been a mistake?
Jay: It's real! There's no way it's fake! We're the intended recipients, LOOK!
Lloyd: What's happening? What's that? Is it bad news?
Zane: Well, it isn’t your average news...
Jay: LET'S GO START PACKING!
Lloyd: Huh? What's going on? Did someone find the Pot (of ???) Did Pythor return again? Or my dad? TELL ME!
Mailman: The letter you received is an invitation from the Kingdom of Shintaro.
Lloyd: Shintaro?
Mailman: Mhm!The Ivory City, this sort of thing doesn't happen everyday, how exciting!
Jay: Woohoo, what a cool card!!
Cole: This is the COOLEST card I've ever seen! And it's even fragrant!
Lloyd: Shintaro? What’s... Shintaro?
PIXAL: Shintaro is a mountainous kingdom located in the northern region of Ninjago, separate from the rest of the land.
Zane: Supposedly speaking, the King of Shintaro rarely sends invitations to their land. Historically, people who were allowed into the Kingdom were few in number.
Jay: I heard it's a beautiful place, the MOST beautiful city in all the land, even. The people there have WINGS!! Haahha! No one could stand a chance!
Lloyd: What... does the invitation say?
Jay : "King Vangelis of Shintaro Kingdom is pleased to invite you to the Kingdom." That's absolutely necessary. "We welcome you" -huh, not bad for vocabulary - "to join in our celebration of Princess Vania's birthday".
Cole: Princess Vania? Who's that?
Nya: The King's daughter, of course!
Zane: Even today, we know little about the Kingdom, even to most it's still just a myth
Cole: Woah, looks like we're gonna have a chance to see things for ourselves!
Nya: Let's gooo!
Jay: I'm gonna go pack!!
Kai: Prepare the Bounty!
Wu: What of this... Shintaro Kingdom were you speaking of?
Lloyd: We've all been invited to go to Shintaro Kingdom to celebrate Princess Vania's birthday. Master Wu, this is a great opportunity to clear your mind!
Wu: I don’t need to clear my mind. I am not going. Misako, PIXAL and I will be staying to help clean up the place.
Lloyd: (whispering to Misako: He's so darn frustrated!) Welllllll you could still pay a visit to that legendary Kingdom? That's a once in a lifetime chance, you know?
Wu: I've already visited so many places of myth and legend in my life. This sort of place, if you've seen one you've seen all. You kids can go have fun or something. You don't need me with you.
Misako: Listen here, old Wu, I've had enough of your brooding all day in the monastery. You will be going with the ninja.
Wu: What's the use of my old bones travelling to some distant land? Mystery and adventure is meant for the young, you should know this better than anyone else.
Misako: And what do you mean by that?!
Wu: I... uh.. I mean... I was saying
Misako: Now listen, Wu. You're not just going to be going with them to Shintaro Kingdom. You're going to play hard, do you understand?!
Wu: But I... uh... Have to feed the chicken! I...
Misako: Do you hear me or not?
Misako @ Lloyd: Well, he's agreed.
Lloyd: Aw Yes! We're all in need of some de-stressing!
Zane: Although my database system can see almost any scenery I want, my words still can't express how scenic this view is!
Jay: I KNOW RIGHT? It's just so... just so... incredibly COOL!
Nya: Such a broad vocabulary, Jay. I'm impressed.
Lloyd: This place really is beautiful, isn't it, Master Wu?
Cole: Yeah, much better than cleaning the monastery, for sure.
Jay: w-wHAT IS THAT?!
Zane: For information, when this kingdom was in its early days, the surrounding mountains were said to house a terrifying species of bats, called the Dire Bats.
Cole: Dire Bats?
Zane: Many historians have debated on the existence of the species for a long time.
Jay: Heehee! It's gotta be some kind of fairytale! (Gets snatched) NOT A FAIRYTALE NOT A FAIRY TALE AaaAAA
Nya: Jay!!
Kai: They're trying to destroy the Bounty! GET LOST, DAMNED BATS\
Cole: I'm coming to get you bro!
Jay: Waaaait- WAiT LeT's Be FrieNds!
Cole: Gyah! You owe me one!
Kai: Jay! Cole! Grab the rope!
Nya: What do we do? How do we fight?!
Wu: Use your elemental powers!
Zane: Master Wu!
Jay: Nya!
Cole: HOLD ON!
Lloyd: BRACE FOR IMPACT!
Nya: How?
Kai: Uh guys? Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Hailmar: Welcome, esteemed guests. I am Hailmar, the King's retainer. I welcome all of you to Shintaro Kingdom.
Lloyd: You saved our lives.
Hailmar: That is our duty. Dire Bats are hard to fight, which is also one reason why we hardly ever allow visitors from foreign lands. It's for their safety. Well then, let's put aside the earlier scuffle, and let me lead you into the Ivory City of Shintaro Kingdom.
Cole: That city is so... intricate.

Chapter 3
Bucky Barnes x pocReader
Warnings: kissin’, flirtin’, touchin’
Words: 1,400ish
Summary: Y/N is Wakandan, just returning from a mission as a War Dog. Set a little while after Bucky wakes up from cryo-sleep.
A/N: sorry this took so long. I am in the process quitting my job + moving. woohoo! thanks for reading!
--------------------------------------
Over the next couple of weeks, you and Bucky grew closer. It was inevitable—you spent time together whenever you could. There was an obvious physical attraction there, but there was an intellectual side to your relationship, too. Bucky was extremely smart. Once Bucky came out of his cryo-sleep, he read any and every book he could get his hands on: Science, history, even social policy and politics. It made sense, him being over a century old, he wanted to catch up and be informed. You enjoyed hearing him talk about the 40s in America about his friends Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, and about the things he and Shuri are trying to do with his high tech arm. Bucky was especially fascinated by the things science had accomplished in the time he had been brainwashed and mind controlled.
“Look at this Y/N,” Bucky was geeking out over an upgrade on his arm. “See, I just press here and it does the same thing your Kimoyo beads do.” Bucky showed you all his arm’s new tricks, grinning like a child on harvest day. “Look, I can call you!” He pressed something on his arm and your communication bead vibrated and lit up light blue. His grin grew exponentially when you answered it and your hologram popped up above his wrist. You laughed at his joyous face and watched him beam as he kept talking and tinkering. He caught you staring.
“It is rude to stare, Princess,” he said with mock sternness. He shifted closer to you, eyes flicking down to your lips. You looked around.
“N-Not here Bucky.” You were too close to town. This is where the village children would come looking for you or Bucky to chase them for hours on end. He groaned and ignored you as he buried his face in your neck, softy kissing it. You sighed, leaning into him briefly before pushing away from him, shaking your head and trying not to smile.
He looked up at you, blue eyes sad and a pout on his perfect lips, “Where then doll?” he whined. You threw your head back and laughed. You laughed so much when you were around him. You never got tired of it. You were biting your bottom lip when he answered his own question. “Hmmm… The sunset is absolutely gorgeous from my hut ya know.” He glanced sideways at you. You smirked, the nonverbal affirmative. The two of you all but ran back to his hut.
+
Once you made it to his hut, Bucky gave you an expedited grand tour of his two room hut. It was sparsely decorated with one picture of him and Steve Rodgers circa the 1940s and about 9 books scattered on the shelf above his bed. On the other side of the hut hung a beautiful traditional Wakandan tapestry. You didn’t have much time to look before you were distracted by firm hands on your hips, spinning you around. He crashed his lips into yours and the kissing commenced. You savored his taste, his smell, his hands on your body. You moved your hands up his arms, feeling the rippling muscles of one and the cool smooth of another under your fingers. Bucky pushed you up against the wall, making you giggle into his mouth. When you wrapped your arms around his neck, his hands found your thighs and pulled your legs up to wrap around his waist. You moaned into the kiss and tugged at his hair, urging him on. He leaned you off the wall and walked you in his arms to his bed, breaking the kiss.
You glanced over at the bed, eyes alight. “Are we going to…?” Your heart thumped in your chest.
“Do you wanna, doll?” His voice was thick with lust. You pulled his lips back to yours as your answer. He fell onto the bed on top of you as you tugged at his shirt. He took it off and you were momentarily frozen as his muscled chest was unveiled. He leaned back down to kiss you again, but stopped inches from your face as your fingertips traced the ridges of scars on his shoulder, where flesh meets metal. You hummed as your fingers moved from hot skin to cool metal. You felt him watch your face as you marveled at him.
“Always with the starin’.” His lips found your neck again as you giggled.
You sighed as he made his way down your neck, giving you lingering kisses every inch. “Bucky,” you panted as you ran your fingers through his hair again and then raked your fingers down his back. He began to fumble unsuccessfully with the buttons of your shirt when your communication bead began to vibrate and light up again. He jumped off like you were hot coals. You jumped off his bed and ran outside, trying to get your breath to even out.
You answered the call when you were a safe distance from his hut. “Sister, what are you doing this evening?” You glanced past the Nakia hologram in the direction of Bucky’s hut wistfully. “Nothing.”
“Good! We are having a girl’s night. Be here in 10.”
“Oh-okay, on my way.” Her hologram went away. You trudged back to Bucky’s hut. He met you outside, looking hopeful. “I have to go. Nakia’s planned some girls night. I am sorry.” His face fell.
“Well, now you know where I live,” he closed the distance between you, smirking. “So, you can come find me if you ever need company.” He kissed you again, holding your face in his strong hands as your heart melted into a puddle. You wanted to stay there all night, being kissed and held close by the White Wolf.
“I should go before I am late and the Queen becomes cross with me.” He chuckled as he gave you one last kiss and sent you on your way.
As you walked away, you looked back over your shoulder. Bucky hadn’t moved, huge arms crossed over his chest and beaming as he watched you walk away. You turned and flipped him off, both hands. He threw his head back and you heard his roaring laughter well across the vast field between you.
+
Girl’s night was in full swing when you arrived. Nakia and Okoye were making drinks for everyone. Shuri was settled on the massive couch eating popcorn flicking through movies on a tablet. You fell down next to Shuri, grabbing a handful and sighing in relief.
“Y/N, what have you been up to this evening?” Shuri asked, not looking at you as she searched for a movie to watch.
“Nothing really…” You’d spent your walk replaying the afternoon in your head. “Oh, Bucky showed me the new upgrades you made to his arm. Really cool. He was very excited about them.”
“Oh yes! I didn’t think he was going to shut up about it once I showed him.” You both laughed.
“Who?” Nakia sat next to you and Okoye next to her, handing you a drink.
“White Wolf. I upgraded his arm to have the same capabilities as our beads, easier to keep in touch. He was very excited. Y/N was saying he was giddy as a child earlier.”
Nakia nodded, glancing at you, “You’ve been spending a lot of time with him lately.”
Shuri answered before you could, “Yes, Y/N thinks our White Wolf is quite handsome.”
You choked on your drink. Shuri cackled.
“Is that so, sister?” Nakia raised her eyebrows, chuckling. You tensed, feeling uncharacteristically defensive. You play it off with a laugh, praying to Bast that it’s convincing enough.
“I mean--he’s not ugly. Loyal. Trusted by T’Challa. ” You shrugged, playing it as cool as you possibly could.
“He is a good man. But, he’s still a colonizer.” Shuri and Okoye laughed at that. “He is the only colonizer T’Challa keeps around though.” Nakia nudged you, a smile on her face. “You never know sister.” She wiggled her eyebrows at you.
“Okay, okay, alright what are we watching, ladies?” you needed the subject to change.
The group decided against a movie and decided to watch trashy American reality tv, much to Shuri’s excitement. It was an exciting night of booing and cheering for the scripted victories. Girl’s night went on all night, full of laughter and eating.
You had trouble keeping your mind off of Bucky though. You were swept up in how it all felt. In feeling like you were finally understood by someone other than you sister. You had dated, but it had never been rooted in anything other than physical feelings. With Bucky it felt like more. The two of you were able to maintain conversations for hours about anything from ants to strange American culture.
You wondered what, if anything the future held for you and the White Wolf.

Summary: Your fiance is Hyunwoo, better known as Shownu, and he has been away on a world tour for what feels like forever. Meanwhile you've been dealing with stressful deadlines and nonstop work. Life is stressful, difficult and exhausting, but you have something that never fails to make all of those worries melt away.
It had been a long, grueling couple of weeks. Sleep was hard to come by, paperwork seemed to be in the masses. The days were long and the nights seemed longer. It has been weeks since you had last seen your fiance, Hyunwoo. He video called you when he could, but that just wasn't enough on the harder days. The good news, however, is that Hyunwoo is coming home tomorrow! The excitement made it way too difficult to focus on the paperwork in front of you.
Your boss seemed to be taking advantage of your timid nature, because he kept giving you high piles of work with short deadlines and it finally seemed to be getting to you as you sat at your desk, staring down at the project you had been working on for the past four hours. Though your eyes were looking at the words, your brain was so exhausted that it refused to take in any information. With a heavy sigh, you leaned back in your chair. Alright, fine, I forfeit. Your eyes shifted to the clock on the desk.
Oh, crap! 3:00 AM?
You promised Hyunwoo that you would stop doing this, but there was only so much time in a day, and if you didn't get it all done by the deadline, you risked your job. You refused to rely on Hyunwoo or either of your families. You wanted to prove yourself to his parents.
Glancing at the window, you stared at the stars in the sky, your cheek resting in your hand as you propped yourself up at your desk. The last thing that went through your mind before you inevitably passed out in your chair was how beautiful the night sky was tonight, and you wondered if Hyunwoo was thinking the same thing, too.
"YYYY/NNNN!"
A loud deep voice yelled from the entrance of the apartment, followed by many other voices chatting and laughing together, startling you from your sleeping position on the table. As you turned to look at the doorway, you immediately noticed the entirety of Monsta X coming towards you. Unfortunately, it was painfully obvious that you had slept there, based on your messed up hair, exhausted expression and your last work sheet, stuck right to your forehead thanks to the aid of hours of pressure as well as sweat from sleep.
Jooheon was the first member to enter the room, your best friend since high school! He was the one who introduced you to Hyunwoo and the others after he debuted.
An enormous smile spread across his lips, his dimples prominent, farther expressing the joy he felt, finally being able to see his best friend again. "Y/N!!!" He paused mid-stride once he finally noticed the paper stuck to your forehead, then proceeding to burst into laughter.
Much faster than you, he pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of your confused face as the paper remained fastened to your forehead.
"Joo, hey! Stop it!!"
You jumped up and tried to grab your best friend's phone, but he held it out of reach and laughed at your attempts to jump up and snatch it.
In the middle of your struggle, another voice piped up among they laughter.
"Jooheon stop teasing her!"
It was Wonho. He was always so protective of you, like a little sister, despite not knowing you for very long. You always thought maybe he just felt responsible for you since the two of you had so much in common and you got along so well.
Wonho playfully hit Jooheon before turning and giving you his famous bright smile. He reached up and pulled the paper from your face right before pulling you into a tight hug.
"It's so good to see you again, y/n! We all missed you so we came with Hyunwoo to visit!"
Before you could respond, Jooheon pulled Wonho away and wrapped you up in a hug as well.
"Hey, she's MY best friend, don't interrupt!"
Once again you were interrupted before you could reply, tugged away from Jooheon by Changkyun and Minhyuk. They both squeezed you between them in a tight hug, talking over each other.
"Hyung, you're hugging her too tight, she's not a guy!"
"YAH, she can handle it, you underestimate her!"
"Do not!"
"Don't yell at me, punk!"
While the two were distracted with their playful bickering, Hyungwon pulled you from their grasp and hugged you in a gentle and silent embrace.
With a big smile, you hugged him in return. His presence was always calming to you.
"We are happy to see you again, y/n, its been so long."
"It has--"
You were interrupted once again by Kihyun tugging you away gently, hugging you to himself.
"Y/n, are you okay? Did those two annoy you? Wonho didn't bruise you did he? Ugh, these boys."
With a laugh, you reassured him that not only were you not annoyed or hurt, but incredibly excited to see them all. You hadn't expected ALL of them to come to the apartment, just your fiance.
Where is Hyunwoo??
Before you could seek him out, you felt Wonho tug you from Kihyun, quickly followed by Jooheon trying to get you back from both of them.
"I would never hurt y/n! I am very gentle with her, you know!"
"Ahh, hey, why are you all tugging her around like a rag doll?!" Jooheon growled in a pouting tone.
Just then, you felt two strong warm arms curl around your shoulders from behind, gently prying you from all of the members' grips and back against his chest.
Tilting your head back, you looked up to see Hyunwoo smiling down at you silently, before placing a soft kiss to the red spot on your forehead, which had formed due to sleeping on it for hours. Immediately you felt butterflies fluttering in your stomach, just like they always did when you saw him. Your lips curled up into the biggest smile, which your fiance constantly stated was just like the sun.
He must have been hanging back to let all of the other members greet you first. He had always been so kind and patient with everyone, especially the members.
The majority of the others pouted, most audibly being Jooheon, of course.
"Ahh Hyung, no fair, we missed her too!"
Hyunwoo simply chuckled before walking you out of the room clumsily, arms still wrapped around you from behind. Since he refused to let you go, it looked more like two penguins waddling away. Admittedly, it was kind of cute.
"You guys go pick out a movie to watch, alright? I need to catch up with y/n for a while."
That was all it took before all of the members ran off to go argue over the genre of movie.
Once Hyunwoo sat down on the bed, he spun you around on his lap to face him, his arms resting loosely around your hips.
"You slept on the desk again."
You winced. Should have known that was coming...
You frowned up at him, trying to pout your way out of a lecture, but to no avail. He simply raised a brow at you.
"Awe Hyun.. I don't know how else to get my work done by the deadline, what if they fire me?"
"You need to stand up for yourself. You're killing yourself at this rate. Your body can't handle all of this work and sleepless nights."
You sighed. He was right, and you knew it. You were just scared of the possible consequences.
Hyunwoo's fingers gently tilted your chin up, his eyes meeting yours.
"Y/n... You know if anything happens, we can get through it together. I won't let anything bad happen. We are in this together. You promised me you'd take care of yourself."
With a nod and a quiet whine, you thumped your forehead against his chest.
"You're right, I'm sorry... I will talk to my boss about it... I'm sorry I always worry you. I'm worried about you, too, you know."
You always tell him this, so he is more than used to it by now, simply responding with a grin.
"I know. I will take care of myself if you take care of yourself."
You wrinkled your nose, a playful display of distaste due to his tactful manipulation. "...okay, fine, deal--"
Before you could finish your sentence, Hyunwoo's arms were around your waist and tugging you against his chest, his lips crashing against yours with a sense of urgency. He was a patient man, but everyone has their breaking point, and he couldn't hold it anymore.
"I missed you so, so much." He whispered against your lips, not giving you time to reply before pressing them back to yours once more.
His lips were so soft, just like always. You felt at home in his arms, and tilted your head to the side to deepen the kiss. Hyunwoo raised his hand up to brush your hair behind your ear with the most gentle movement, then settling on you cheek as his other arm tugged you as close as you could be.
You chuckled gently against his lips, which both of you knew was a cover for how flustered you had become. "Hyun, maybe we should wait until the other members aren't literally in the other room?"
He shook his head, resting his forehead against yours while looking into your eyes, his hand not once leaving your cheek.
"So? Its our apartment. We can do what we want."
"Hyun- oh my god--" your laughter was interrupted by the sound of the door swinging open. Jooheon was there, making a disgusted expression at the two of you.
"Ahh Hyung, you couldn't just wait? Stop sucking face and come to the living room, we picked out a movie!"
You groaned in embarrassment and hid your face against your fiance's neck. You could practically feel his dumb grin.
"Alright, we are coming. What did you pick out?"
Just then, there was a shout that clearly belonged to Minhyuk, coming from the living room.
"THE LION KING, WOOHOO!"
The both of you laughed before Hyunwoo picked you up with his arms around your stomach, your back to his chest now, and carried you out into the living room. He was significantly taller than you, so you kind of just dangled there in the air as he held you. An embarrassed groan left your lips as the other members laughed at your misfortune, which they prefer to label "cute".
Once in the living room and finally released from your fiance's grip for the first time since he got a hold of you, you ran to heat up the hand made honey and bbq chicken wings you made for him the day before.
You didn't expect all of the other members, but you made plenty to share, knowing how big of an appetite Hyunwoo had, and carried the huge bowl into the living room, much to the excitement of everyone there.
Once everyone settled down and got ready for the movie, after arguing over who you'd sit next to (Hyunwoo's lap was of course the winner of that discourse), Kihyun turned on the movie and Changkyun turned off the lights. Once you settled back into Hyunwoo's chest, his arms protectively wrapped around you. You opted to feed him the chicken so that he didn't have to let you go, which of course was (mostly) his idea. Nobody will hear any complaints though.
The worries and stress from the weeks upon weeks of deadlines and excessive work melted away the moment everyone had come and woken you up, and it hasn't even crossed your mind since then. They were all like your family. You couldn't ask for a better one, and even if you had, it probably wouldn't exist.
To the surprise of no one, you fell asleep in Hyunwoo's arms only 20 minutes into the movie.

Space Mercs AU: Halloween Party Part One: Almost Halloween
Rare was the day almost everyone on the team hung out in the dining hall aboard the ship when it wasn’t breakfast or supper – lunch was typically had on the battlefield during break. But here they all were, except for Spy – probably anyway, he could be here but invisible – and Soldier who had a strict routine that didn’t allow for dilly-dallying around in the dining hall after supper even if it was the day before the weekend, and Scout was going to take advantage of it.
“Hey everyone,” he said, drawing the looks of maybe half of them. But whatever, they’d all be excited when they heard the news he’d returned here to share. “I just checked my calendar and Halloween’s like two weeks away. Well… two weeks, in my home planet’s time. This place probably doesn’t celebrate it since they’re lizard alien people things but that’s beside the point. What are we going to do for it?”
Excitement or even the slightest bit of interest didn’t spark on anyone’s face. They didn’t even look like they cared. How was that possible? It was almost Halloween!
“Most colonies don’t celebrate that holiday,” Heavy said before Scout could complain about the lack of response. “I am surprised that your does.”
“What? How? It’s Halloween?” And here Scout had thought he’d been bringing glorious news to the whole team. Instead he’d found out that there were places in the universe inhabited by humans that apparently didn’t celebrate Halloween. And that was apparently the majority position. If it were almost anyone other than Heavy delivery that news, he wouldn’t have believed it. “It’s one of the best holidays.”
Demo lifted his head from where he’d been resting it on the table, apparently not asleep after all. “They celebrate it where I grew up. I’m gonna celebrate it by getting drunk.” His way of celebrating everything. “You’re welcome to join me.”
“Thanks, but… I was thinking we could throw a team Halloween party. We could dress up, if we can find costumes anyway, and watch scary movies together, maybe even play a horror game or two. And just hangout in general, you know?” Like friends were supposed to do on Halloween. And they were all friends… sort of anyway, right?
Pyro tapped the table to get everyone’s attention. “What is…” clearly not knowing the sign for ‘Halloween’, if there even was one, he spelled it out with his fingers instead. “I’ve never heard of it.”
An hour ago, if someone had told Scout they’d never heard of Halloween, he wouldn’t have believed them but now unfortunately he knew better. It was easy to forget how small and insignificant his home planet was sometimes, especially when compared to the rest of the universe. “It’s like uh… um…” How did he even explain what Halloween was?
“A celebration of all things horror,” Engie finished for him. “I grew up in a place that celebrates it too.”
“Good, great, that’s three of us.” So at least Scout wasn’t alone. There was still hope of getting some sort of celebration going on here… maybe. “So, we should celebrate as a team. Throw a party. Sound likes fun, right?”
“If I’m not too busy, I suppose,” Medic said. “I am a fan of horror movies.” Shocker, Medic was a fan of blood and gore.
“I’d be okay with that,” Heavy agreed. “It is an interesting holiday.”
Scout turned to look at Sniper sitting at the end of the table, still drinking coffee. His approval meant the most but Scout was going to pretend that that wasn’t the case. Thankfully he didn’t look displeased by the thought. “Sure, I guess,” he said with a shrug. It wasn’t enthusiastic but it was good enough.
“I like parties,” Pyro signed fast enough that Scout barely caught it.
Engie sighed. “Eh, I guess majority rules. It’s been a long time since I attended a Halloween party anyway.”
“Woohoo!” Demo shouted in celebration, raising his empty beer bottle as he stood up. “A Halloween party!”
 -
The two team members absent from the unofficial meeting about the Halloween party needed to be informed as well so they could be prepared for it. Demo volunteered to tell Soldier, which left Scout to tell Spy. Under different circumstances that might’ve bummed him out a bit but he was too excited to care.
Finding Spy however was not an easy task. Not only could he shapeshift into almost anything but he could also turn invisible, meaning if he didn’t want to be found he wouldn’t be. Scout was persistent though and eventually found him outside, leaning against the side of the building opposite the spaceship dock, smoking a cigarette and looking up at the sky.
“Yo,” he said as he jogged up to him. “What you doing out here?” No point not trying to be friendly; Spy was still an asshole but over the months he’d been slowly but surely warming up to Scout, a little bit anyway. They almost even got along when Scout wasn’t purposefully annoying him.
Spy sighed out a cloud of smoke. “I’m out here to watch the moons rise. It’s become an important part of my alone time.”
Scout was going to fake obtuseness and pretend he didn’t pick up on that hint. “They are awful pretty, huh?” Even he had to admit the sight was breathtaking and he wasn’t normally one to enjoy that kind of thing much. “But anyway, I came out here to tell you that we’ve all decided we’re going to throw a Halloween party in two weeks’ time. Uh… I guess you probably don’t know what that is because you’re an alien so Halloween is…”
“I know what Halloween is,” Spy interrupted.
“Really? How?”
“I once spent a lot of time on a planet that celebrated it and uh… was friends with someone who was a big fan of it.” That slight hesitation was interesting, Spy almost never hesitated like that.
“A friend huh? I didn’t know you were capable of making friends.”
“I am perfectly capable of making friends.”
“Really huh?” Scout couldn’t pass up an opportunity to possibly learn more about Spy, the second most mysterious member on the team. “What was your Halloween friend like? Are you guys still friends? Were they a…”
“Shut up,” Spy interrupted with a scowl as he breathed out an annoyed cloud of smoke.
“Oh! You seem awfully grumpy all of sudden, more so than usual anyway. So perhaps they were more than a friend? Tell me more.”
Spy’s scowl deepened. “It is none of your business. And if you ever bring it up again, I will skin you alive.” He pointed an angry finger at Scout as he ground out the butt end of his cigarette on the wall before vanishing.
“Well uh… I take it was a rough break up then.” Scout would be lying if he said he wasn’t slightly intimidated. He wasn’t sure just how serious Spy was about that threat and he didn’t want to test it. “But anyway, like I said, we’re having a Halloween party two weeks from now. Be there or be square.” Hopefully Spy was still close enough to hear that part; even if he was a grumpy asshole, Scout wanted him to show up because it was supposed to be a team Halloween party and thus it wouldn’t be complete without Spy.

Figured that now would be a good time to take a look at how things are going with your favorite gaming company.
No, not them, I mean Onyx Path. Sheesh.
After all, we’re near the end of the year – at least the part before everything gets holiday crazy – and next week we start our They Came From Beneath the Sea! Kickstarter.
So let’s take advantage of the time period and have a little snapshot of where we are. We’ll do more of a “Year That Was” thing in a later blog, I think. (This one is long enough as it is – yeesh!)
2018 was a challenging year, but one where we were able to catch up – finally! – on a lot of projects and start delivering some delayed ones…as well as delivering a bunch of Kickstarter projects earlier than estimated!
If you recall from MMN blogs in the past, I started Onyx Path with a three-part plan for the sorts of projects we would take on, so let me divide my comments based on that.
1- Our Wholly Owned Games:
This category is perhaps our timeliest right now, with both books for Scion 2nd Edition and the Trinity Continuum Core and Aeon all having delivered their KS backer PDFs and in various stages of prepping for their traditional print-runs.
This is very satisfying to be able to say, because as our KS backers know, a large part of the delay in getting these two lines to this point was needing to create a system for them that wouldn’t fall apart at higher power play, and which, frankly, was designed with an eye towards the last couple of decades worth of how games are played.
And while still being a recognizable dice pool system for our fantastic fans of the first editions who kept these games alive all these years!
Just today, our old friend and long-time writer and developer Bruce Baugh posted a long and informative “review” of Storypath on his Facebook page and RPG.net, and I’m taking the liberty of posting some of his thoughts here:
I mean to say, if, on the other hand, you tell players that all active approaches are good – that every one solves some problems well and makes for entertaining drama in trying to solve ones it’s not so great for – the choice moves from “should I risk it?” to “_how_ should I risk it?”, because of course they’re taking the kind of risk and get to decide how. Presuming here that players want to have an adventurous good time, the game’s stepping up to point out the scenic attractions and give them a hand where the footing’s tricky. I love it.
Or take a situation where the character’s pursuing someone, using the Athletics skill. The Forceful character uses Might, running fast, bursting through barriers, maybe throwing things to bring down the pursued, and so on. The Finesse character uses Dexterity, perhaps engaging in impromptu (or prepared!) parkour and acrobatics. The Resilience character uses Stamina, and might look for shortcuts that involve kind of long falls, knowing they’ll be able to take the blow, shake it off, and keep going. Every option is good, every option invites the player and Storyguide to look for opportunities to engage with the setting.
Meanwhile, as those two lines move to printing, we have Scarred Lands, which seems to be living up to its name. After a decent start, we had to go back to square one and reconsider how to publish this classic White Wolf-created D20 game after the death of Stewart Wieck, who was originally my partner in publishing it.
I’m glad to say that we indeed have a plan for how to “reactivate” Scarred Lands and you can look for a Kickstarter for the 5e version of the famous Creature Collection early next year. We’re teaming up with a brand new design studio to bring you a gorgeous and exciting new version of SL‘s classic monster manual as the start of more Scarred Lands greatness.
If you’re looking for a Scarred Lands actual play, Travis Legge runs one on Twitch: They play Mondays from 2-4 PM CST at twitch.tv/plasticageplays and archive episodes on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzVwM7FjhlU&list=PLmiXCaSrrCIjmCJQQ7oLwLNahmDbdn_2J and release it in podcast form via anchor at https://anchor.fm/mythsandmatchmakers
They Came From Beneath the Sea! art by Larry Blamire
And for the fourth of our Onyx-owned projects, the aforementioned They Came From Beneath the Sea! Kickstarter emerges from the waves next week on December 18th. Here’s a link to the teaser trailer, created by film legend Larry Blamire (Thanks, Larry!) and we’ll  be revealing an Actual Play vid later this week across our social media:
Matthew and I will go into some more detail on what led up to this most unusual tabletop RPG next week!
We have some possible new game ideas percolating away right now, but I’m not in too much of a hurry to launch a new one right away, there are still great expansions and ideas to explore for the ones we already have!
#2- Creator-owned partner games:
Headed up by Cavaliers of Mars and Realms of Pugmire (which includes Pugmire, Monarchies of Mau, FetchQuest, and the upcoming Pirates of Pugmire).
These are different than a straight-up license, in that the creators are generally deeply involved with the project. Often they do a large percentage of the writing, or bring in teams they run for it. Depending on how we conceptualize the deal, they may have a lot of input on the art or just work on the concepts and let our art and layout folks do the voodoo that they do so well.
Scarred Lands was originally structured far more like this.
So, basically, I look for creative partners that have a very strong vision for the game world, and who I like and want to work with. From there, if the game line exists in the main book and some Stretch Goals, that’s cool. We made the thing and with the magic of the eternal shelf on DTRPG, that’s all it needs to be a success in my thinking.
If the line keeps gathering interest, we’ll try out more projects if the creator is cool with that. That’s the key, we don’t do anything if they aren’t OK with it.
For Cavaliers of Mars, we have just got the books selling into stores, and we’re going to see how things go. If you haven’t heard Rose talk about Cavs on the Onyx Pathcast interview that went live last Friday, it’s a great listen, and she gives advice on how to get started with Cavs as a bonus!
Here is the link to that: https://onyxpathcast.podbean.com/e/episode-29-rose-on-mars/
Roll of Good Dogs and Cats art by Shen Fei
Realms of Pugmire is the umbrella brand for Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau projects, and we still have a wide range of projects that came out of both Kickstarters. Here’s Eddy interviewed at PAX Unplugged by Gamerati: https://twitter.com/gamerati/status/1070095836233646081
I currently have two creators talking to me about teaming up for their projects, and again, I’m pretty good with our current slate here, but if the opportunity suggests itself I am open to adding more.
#3- Licensed games:
Which of course start with our WW-owned World of Darkness, Chronicles of Darkness, and Exalted gamelines, but which also include Dystopia Rising: Evolution, and Legendlore.
No doubt about it, this has been a challenging year with our White Wolf licenses. To give you an idea of the complexity, Matthew’s oversight is primarily “just” the WoD projects, and Dixie covers CofD and Exalted. Eddy covers all the rest, with Matt overseeing a bunch of our fiction projects.
The transition to Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition, and getting Mage, Wraith, and Changeling 20th projects to final stages at the same time was a huge effort, but seeing the success of the V5 Chicago By Night Kickstarter has justified it. We felt it to be important for Onyx Path to be able to show what we could do with V5 books, as we had a few pundits insist we could only do “old” Vampire.
Chicago By Night put the stake in that!
We’re moving along really well on Exalted 3rd projects as well, with Dragon-Blooded looking to release its Backer PDF several months before estimate, and Lunars looking good for having its complete text ready for an early 2019 Kickstarter. Meanwhile, there have been monthly PDF releases all year, and smaller EX3 books working their way through the production progress list.
I can’t say enough good things about the entire EX3 creative team, and I’ve just been impressed as hell with co-developers Robert Vance and Eric Minton. They work with their writing teams and with Dixie to maintain their vision for the line while incorporating the creativity of the team.
The Chronicles of Darkness game lines continue to come on line in terms getting their projects finished up in reasonable time frames, and Dixie is still working with the creative teams to emphasize their strengths, and bolster the areas that give them trouble. We’ve had some real movement VtR2, and the Night Horrors books, and then Mage2 is getting back on track as well.
As you can see in the project progress list below, we have some fantastic WW game line projects already rolling into next year, and a bunch of pitches at WW we are waiting to hear back on.
We ran the Dystopia Rising: Evolution Kickstarter this last year, and it was enough to seed several added projects as Stretch Goals to the line. I don’t think we actually reached as many of DR‘s fans as we could have, judging by the comments we’ve received after the KS was done, so it will be interesting to see how sales go once it is in stores.
We picked up this license for a few reasons. First, DR‘s top folk, Michael and Ashley, are extremely smart and creative folks who have innovated a lot in the LARP area, and we like people who can teach us stuff. Second, a new kind of zombie mythos that we, the horror “experts” hadn’t had a chance to play with.
Third: zombies meet Mad Max. Love that woohoo concept. Finally, and really most importantly, it gave us a chance to try the Storypath System in a world that was both grittier and more horrific than baseline Scion or Trinity Continuum. This was really important, and from I’ve heard it works really well for this sort of genre.
For Legendlore, well, apply what I’ve been saying about finding licenses that we can apply our aesthetics to, not visual aesthetics as we’re flexible about those, but design and thematic ones. For now, I’ll leave it at that, as the book has just appeared in the project process queue, and we’ll say a lot more about it next year.
Will we be adding more licenses this year? Well, discussions continue on several properties, so we’ll see. Basically, a license has to be either one that we feel we can create compelling worlds from, even if it is an already existing game, and that works well with our publishing model, or that pays us oodles of cash for very little work (riiiight, and if you find one of those, let me know!).
Trinity Continuum Core art by Pat McEvoy
We’re thrilled to be able to publish so many immersive worlds where players can find deep meaning in their game play. That’s a testament to the amazing writing and visuals that take us to all these places, and to an in-house team that has filled-in, rejuvenated, cajoled, encouraged, and relentlessly supported our out-of-house creative teams.
Mighty Matt and Mirthful Mike, and our trio of Dixie, Matthew, and Eddy, have pushed, prodded, pleaded, and practically puked to get our vast array of projects finished with love and care this whole year, and their efforts are paying off big time as noted above!
In fact, you can listen to the Terrific Trio every Friday on the Onyx Pathcast and often get some clues as to where the projects they are responsible for are headed, and the sorts of challenges they surmount every week.
This Friday, they flash back to the conventions we attended a couple of weeks ago and tell each other about their favorite characters!
Truly, this post has been all about our:
Many Worlds, One Path!
BLURBS!
KICKSTARTER:
Next up, we’re working on the Kickstarter for They Came From Beneath the Sea! (TCFBtS!), which has some very different additions to the Storypath mechanics we’ll be explaining during the KS.  They take an excellent 50’s action and investigation genre game and turn it to 11!
Check out the teaser above!
Looking to start on Dec 18th at 1pm EST but run it extra long into January!
ELECTRONIC GAMING:
As we find ways to enable our community to more easily play our games, the Onyx Dice Rolling App is now live! Our dev team has been doing updates since we launched based on the excellent use-case comments by our community, and this thing is both rolling and rocking!
ON AMAZON AND BARNES & NOBLE:
You can now read our fiction from the comfort and convenience of your Kindle (from Amazon) and Nook (from Barnes & Noble).
If you enjoy these or any other of our books, please help us by writing reviews on the site of the sales venue you bought it from. Reviews really, really help us with getting folks interested in our amazing fiction!
Our selection includes these fiction books:

Tour Of Mythicality Weekend - WARNING: extremely long and sappy post ahead
When you’re coming down from a high like this it’s so hard to think coherent thoughts or say words that actually make sense. I’m gonna do my best to recount everything and all my feelings in a sound way. Please forgive any mistakes or gaps of what’ll probably seem like missing information cause I’m honestly still processing  it all, too.
The weeks leading up to the last haven’t exactly... been the easiest for me. I won’t lie, they have been some of the slowest and mentally draining weeks of my life. Just existing got real hard. A lot of things were hard. Don’t worry this blogpost won’t turn into a weird rant about my life - lol - I just want to do my best to explain why the things that happened and the events that unfolded were really important to me. And I mean knowing that the week that I just experienced was just around the corner and anticipating it all, did what it could to ease some of the weight on my shoulders.
I hadn’t initially planned to go to the Melbourne show, I mean I had my VIP ticket for Sydney & that was the main priority for me. I also hadn’t thought that it was something I’d need to experience & given the information I have now, it’s not needed but boy was I so glad I got to witness it twice. So when I decided to go to the Melbourne show I made a trip out of it. My best friend and I flew down from Sydney earlier in the week to take some time off from reality together & also to give myself time to mentally prepare for the weekend I had coming at me. I needed that time away to be ready so much more than I thought I did. I don’t know if the experience would have been the same had I not given myself time to break from the realities of my life & the time to reset my mind. It was worth it. So when Friday finally came and everything was starting to become real, excitement is too little of a word to explain the way I was feeling.
Meeting up with other Mythical Beasts was something so special and important to me. It’s knowing that the people I’ve been conversing with online over these two big dorks that we love are real too and having that connection with others who love and appreciate Rhett & Link as much as I do is a super invigorating experience. Being able to freak out with other mythical beasts made the experience IMO. And each and every one of the beasts I met were so super lovely and kind and I miss all of them so so much. Y’all know who you are and I love all of you and I’m so glad to have met each and every one of you. Planning meet ups prior to the show was a good idea and I’d do it a thousand times over in a heartbeat.
I had done a lot of mental prep before the Melbourne show but I still wasn’t ready. Seeing the show, first of all, was surreal. Knowing that these two men were actually there and actually singing and performing and laughing and talking to each other just metres away is a SUPER META feeling. Like oh yeah they exist outside of a screen! They’re existing - right now - in front of my eyeballs. What???? And god was the show good. I’d known mostly what to expect having already seen the livestream they did last year but god was it good. It was so funny. The Melbourne crowds energy was high and super infectious. I had officially, for the first time in months, smiled so hard my face hurt. Happy tears filled my eyes and I couldn’t believe I was able to witness something so magical for the first time. And knowing I was going to be seeing it again also gave me cause to really stop and appreciate the raw talent they resonate & warmth that their presence brings. And to stop and think and really appreciate how all the years I’ve spent as a mythical beast had led up to this one, irreplaceable moment. Being in the crowd with other beasts like myself and hearing laughter and witnessing this all together really made me appreciate all they do and who they are. My heart was full. (Still full).
But it wasn’t over then. We all separated (so so sadly) but the Sydney show was still to come. And so was my M&G experience. I left Melbourne after noon the next day so I had a bit of down time the night before the show to gather myself, put together a letter and my gift for Rhett & Link. I was mostly, numb. Excited, of course, but numb. Like it was still surreal. Seeing the show was surreal and experiencing all of that couldn’t have been real, and now I was going to see it again (closer this time) and I was going to meet them, too? I hardly had recovered (I’d say I didn’t recover at all) before the next day begun.
After meeting up with some lovely mythical beasts for lunch we made our way to Luna Park to line up for the show. The nerves were settling. But it still didn’t feel real. Didn’t feel real that I was gonna see the show again, that I was gonna line up in a line and get to the front, have the chance to meet them, hug them, thank them ?????? That surely wasn’t real?
When we got inside I was initially sitting alone, my gals Ren & Sims (@loudspeakr & @afangirlsplaylist) just three seats away. There was a spare seat beside them that I waited until the show started to take which I’m so glad I did - sorry whoever’s seat that was I guess? They didn’t actually show up to take it (I think)? So it all worked out in the end. And being able to experience the show this close and with my friends is an unmatched feeling cause we all know I desperately needed that friend to grab onto during the show (sorry Ren ❤️). My family came to the show too, they were 2 rows in front of me to the far side of the stage. It meant a lot that they were able to come and see our boys too. We’ve all been on a journey of mythical beast-dom together so it was nice to share this moment with them (even if we didn’t sit together).
The show was just as good the second time over - I was literally grinning from ear to ear. It’s hard to describe how intense the warmth in my chest felt and how god damn happy I could get. And I owe it all to Rhett and Link. It takes less than as much out of them to have me feeling like I’m really on cloud nine. It’s literally a dream to witness what I witnessed. And I just had a million flashbacks of the times I would watch GMM and feel that same warmth in my chest, or wish I could have this moment watching over their live performances at VidCon or remembering the disappointment I had felt at not being able to go to the tour when they went around the States. And fulfilling that goal and dream is just so satisfying and it’s hard to believe sometimes that I ever even deserved it. It’s almost too much to handle at once.
After laughing and getting way too overemotional throughout the show, they wrapped the Q&A it was time for the M&G. Our little group decided to hang back til the end of the line (a WHOLE ASS good idea, would do it again forever times over). After a little wait we made our way to the hall where the M&G was held, up a flight of stairs and to the right. I heard that during the Melbourne M&G you could see the boys throughout the whole wait. But I had pictured in my mind we would have to wait and they’d be around the corner or something once we had our turns. But when we stepped into the room, oh. They were right there.
Oh.
Being with my friends and being able to talk through (I use that term vaguely, we were more groaning and squealing) our feelings for the hour or so we waited was so much fun. Being in a room full of mythical beasts just as passionate about our boys as we are - even though we were the loudest group in line - is comforting. We all had the same nerves and jitters. We all had something special we wanted to share with Rhett and Link. But it didn’t do much to calm the nerves.
Everytime Rhett would laugh my stomach would swoop, everytime I caught a glimpse of them standing there I had to look away. It was almost hard to see them. To face the reality we were facing. It didn’t feel real. It didn’t feel real at all throughout the line to the front. Like I was still watching other people meet them. It wasn’t going to happen to me.
I have a hard time with reality, ya see?
Before I get to telling about my meet & greet I just want to take a moment to appreciate another time in my life I still believe to be unreal.
Not everyone knows this but in December 2016 I met Link. On vacation in the States. It was pure luck and coincidence and you can read about it here: https://t.co/JL7Xzq78jA?amp=1 . I’m not gonna go into detail about why that particular event in my life gets me so EMO because I can and will if I’m not stopped, but I will say that it meant a great deal to me at that particular time in my life.
I wanted to reiterate that to them when I spoke to them. I had written about it in my letter but I wanted to thank them with words and I really didn’t plan it well enough as I wanted but…
Well. Our group was now filing out to meet our boys. And my heart melted for them. And momentarily made me forget that I was supposed to do that, too.
So when it was my turn to go up I almost didn’t. But I forced myself to walk and braved the toughest “hello” I’ve ever said in my life. Link cheered out a “woohoo!” Which was the most endearing shit (sorry for swearing) I ever heard in my life. I later realised it’s because the gift bag I had given them had “WOO HOO” written on the front of it. LOL. Rhett smiled and said hey back and I handed them the gift before I literally fell over. “This is for you…” I said quietly. Like a goddamn child.
I was so afraid of being too loud or screaming at them or just being annoying in general that I kept my voice low, quieter than it already is. I’ve always been self conscious about my voice and I hate that I let it get in the way of my M&G but perhaps it seemed more intimate that way. Always trying to find the good in the bad I am. Lol.
They took the bag and pulled out the gift, a sequin cushion that when you swipe the sequins a certain way it’ll reveal an image underneath. It was Barbara & Jade. I wanted to explain it to them but my voice was stuck in my throat and I just let them work it out for themselves. Jade & Barbara were already visible so it wasn’t hard to work it out, and I mean, Link saying “ooh shiney shiney” over and over did a lot to stop my brain from working properly. Not that it was working to begin with.
“Oh gosh, it’s Jade and Barbara,” Rhett said, holding the cushion up to the SKY, like the literal SKY, goddamnhessogoddamntall. “How in the world did you do that?”
At this point I’m supposed to respond right?
“Oh...I- I got someone to do it, actually.”
WHAT A LAME RESPONSE. I mean I wish i was creative enough to make that for you my boys, and I would have if I could have. But I’m glad they still liked it.
Link laughed at my response and I laughed too.
“You commissioned it. That’s awesome.”
“Yeah…” SHEEPISH. I’M ACTUALLY DYING RIGHT NOW.
Link kept looking into the bag and pulled out a letter I had written for them. Turning it over.
“And you got a card; so we’ll see that.” Revealing my name written on it. “Elyse.”
“Yeah, Elyse…”
HOLY LORDT. I hadn’t even realised I was supposed to tell them my name. I forgot I had a name in all honesty.
Link moved to put the bag down without the cushion in it and Rhett said they’d hold it in a picture with me and I was like, well, ok. I mean I guess.
But I had to say what I needed to say. So when Link walked over again I was suddenly very emotional.
“Um…” my voice broke. Both of them stepped in closer and Link grabbed my arm to what - ground me? Can he NOT? Does he not realise that that doesn’t help at all!!!!
“Do you remember me?”
Good. One. Elyse. They literally looked at me like ???
But I was expecting this so I laughed it off, even though I really was dying.
“It was a while ago. Um. My brothers and I were on vacation in LA, and we ran into you after a Clippers game, and they lost… it was a while ago.”
I kind of wanted to shove a foot into my mouth and make myself stop talking but Link made me laugh.
“But you didn’t have the pillow.”
“Oh, I mean…” *hand signals the pillow gift away* . I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. Rhett laughed too. I died a lot.
“I wipe away all memories when the Clippers lose,” Link said.  Rhett laughed again - boi laughs so loud it makes my heart beat so fast lmao. “Except for you.”
OKAY. OKAY LINK. YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIE. YOU DON’T HAVE TO MAKE ME THIS EMOTIONAL WHEN I’M TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING EMOTIONAL UHHHHHHHHHHH.
“Well, okay,” I said, thinking those exact thoughts, thinking, okay, I need to not freak out on them right now, what’s the most normal thing to say? “Well, okay.”
“So you guys were visiting in town?”
“Yeah we were there for a week and we didn’t know what to do,” I said. I looked at Rhett and realised I should say something to him so he realises he wasn’t actually there and I wasn’t creating a false memory in his mind????
“I don’t know where you were,” I gestured at him. I’m so stupid l o l. Rhett BB I love you so much I just don’t know how to look your majestic beautiful ass in the eye because you were literally so hard to look at and believe that you were actually real. I promise I love you. You just made my heart race too fast. Which is why I struggled to say more to him.
“But you were there,” I say, looking at Link.
“With my son?” He asked.
Part of me got really excited like he was piecing together the memory, and maybe he was, but in retrospect he probably just goes to all Clippers games with his son. But me in the moment was very excited about it.
“Yeah! Lincoln was there.”
“But...yeah. It was just a really intense time in my life...and I had to submit uni things…. I wrote it all in the letter, but. It just basically confirmed a lot of things for me,” cue voice break. “So I just wanted to say thanks for that.”
Link grabbed my arm again. “Well thanks for sharing,” he said.
“Yeah,” Rhett agreed.
“And good to see ya again.” Link followed up.
I literally didn’t know what to say to that so I laughed so awkwardly but I was so in love. And just so relieved that I somehow got out what I needed to say. What an achievement.
We got into position for a photo and Link suggested holding the pillow in one photo, and then put it back in the bag to take one without it.
Before saying goodbye I had an internal struggle of whether or not I wanted to ask them to record a video message for my brother, and decided, god, I mean, will I ever get another chance? So I explained that my brother was a big mythical beast and if it was alright they record a message for him. They agreed with no hesitation. They are so lovely.
~ The video message:
“Good mythical morning Harry,” said Link.
“You got a pretty cool sister here.” said Rhett.
(OKAY WHAT THE HECK RHETT. THANKS FOR RUINING ME GOD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH).
“We’re sorry you couldn’t be here so we just wanted to say, hellooo!” Link added.
“So I’m just gonna say it,”
“Hellooo!” they said in unison.
(It’s so cute. I keep watching that part over.)
“And thanks for being your mythical best.” said Rhett.
(Me…. actually dead).
~
After they recorded it I thanked them. And asked if I could get a hug, which I did, and which were so warm and cuddly and great and felt so safe.
They thanked me for the pillow again and we said goodbye and then….that was it.
We hung around until everyone got through their meet and greets and we ended it with a group photo, which I’m sooo grateful we have. They seemed really endeared by the fact that we were all together as friends and I mean, of course. And I’m so grateful that they brought us all together.
So I mean I don’t know. It’s not hard for me to label this as the best experience of my life. It definitely, definitely is.
I’m just entirely grateful that I had the chance to do this at all. I really am not the most headstrong or wilful or strong person alive. But Rhett and Link have continued to inspire me over and over and give me reason to want to be more than who I am. And having the opportunity to convey some of that to them face to face (because really, there’s no way I would have been able to say it all no matter how much time I had) means worlds to me.
Meeting Link back in 2016 gave me a new perspective on life. I realised that the things that seem impossible can actually be possible. That good things can happen to people and luck can fall in the hands of people who don’t think they deserve it. I’m forever grateful to them for giving me something to believe in myself. I’m 100% unsure I’d be here today without them.
So thank you Rhett and Link. I’ll never forget this memory. Thank you for the friends and experiences I’ve had just because I decided to watch your videos one day. I’ll forever remain indebted to them for everything and every ounce of happiness they’ve given me.
There’s truly nothing like it.
:)
