All my designs from the vid.
Tim and Sasha are my favorite from the batch. Their designs came together the easiest and I feel are the closest to how I see them in my head.
Least favorite to do was Martin. I redrew his face four times and it still feels wrong. I love the character, but god is his design elusive for me.

Zell's Monster Form
i was finally able to remake the main drawing i lost
( please ignore the swamp fire i forgot to remove him =I )
i was gonna shade this but i am tired of working on this
here is a old fandom page i made for him ages ago
Zell gets this form after the omnitrix is damaged while Mr a (azmuth) is upgrading it
he would be terrified by what happened and run away in fear
leaving his brother and Mr a alone
(not 100% fleshed this part out)
a year? or so later he would fix this problem by meeting a Kevin E levin

Anidala/The Skywalker Family - Pumpkin Carving
Tumblr media
“I’m home,” Anakin called, struggling with the door. He was carrying four very heavy, very large bags. He went to the kitchen, dumping the bags on the table.
“What’s that?” Padme asked, pointing at the bags.
“Pumpkins,” Anakin replied cheerfully, unpacking them onto the table. Padme watched in horror as pumpkins covered the entire surface of the table.
“That’s a lot of pumpkins.”
“Tis the season!” Anakin grinned at his wife. “Besides, the kids will love them.”
She still looked unimpressed. “Seriously, how many did you buy?”
“Uh, three each for the kids, in case they mess one up and get upset. And two for the rest of us.”
“The rest of us?” She cocked an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah. You, me, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan. I was thinking we could have a little party and carve them all together.”
“Anakin, that's 14 pumpkins! Where are we going to put them all?” She sounded genuinely distressed.
“Don’t worry, we'll find space. Don't you want the house to look festive?” He asked cheekily.
“There's a difference between ‘festive’ and ‘overkill’.”
“Not when it comes to Halloween.”
When she didn’t respond, he smiled brightly at her, knowing that she would say yes to anything when he smiled at her like that. “Come on, it'll be fun. I promise.”
Padme couldn't help but smile fondly at her husband’s excitement. “Oh, Ani,” she murmured. “Alright, I suppose I better call Obi-Wan and Ahsoka.”
“Thank you, my love.” Anakin kissed her forehead sweetly.
“Yeah, well, you're cleaning up the mess.” She swatted his chest playfully.
“I’d be happy to.” He grinned and pulled her in for another kiss.
~~~
When Luke and Leia came home from school, they were thrilled about all the pumpkins stacked in the kitchen. They immediately rushed to pick their pumpkins, fighting over the biggest ones and chattering eagerly about what they would carve on them. They were a little disappointed that they had to wait until the weekend, but that quickly disappeared when they were told that Obi-Wan and Ahsoka would be carving the pumpkins with them.
On the day of the party, the twins ran to answer the door. They quickly greeted their uncle and older sister before practically dragging them inside, eager to get started.
“Okay, okay.” Padme tried to calm her children who were bounding around the room enthusiastically. “The knives are sharp so we have to be calm and careful, okay?”
The twins nodded, finally settling down a bit.
They all gathered around the table and began scooping out the insides of their pumpkins. Every year they would make pumpkin muffins with the leftovers, but at this rate, they were going to have to make a much larger batch than they normally would. Oh well, the twins could always take some into school and share with their class, Padme reasoned.
They drew their designs on the pumpkins with markers before starting to carve. Luke got a little over-excited and made a massive cut down the side of his first pumpkin with his haphazard carving. Anakin reassured him it still looked fine, but he insisted that it was ruined. He redrew his design, a simple drawing of their dog R2, on another pumpkin. He was more careful this time and made sure to ask Anakin for help when he needed to. Then he carved a spaceship on his other pumpkin, surrounded by little stars.
Leia, unlike her brother, was much more careful with her carving. She moved slowly, concentrating on keeping her hand steady, so as not to mess up. All three of her pumpkins turned out great. One was a typical spooky face with triangle eyes and a mouth full of jagged teeth, and another was a large princess crown with little diamonds atop the points. Her third one was just a few diagonal lines, which she had to explain were werewolf scratches, obviously.
Ahsoka and Anakin were having just as much fun as the children. They turned the activity into a competition to see who could carve the best pumpkin. Like Leia, Ahsoka also carved a face, but her one was more silly than spooky. It had a wide goofy grin, big eyes, and a round nose. Her other pumpkin was a bit more detailed. It was a cat face with cute ears, a little nose, long whiskers, and a collar with a bell. Anakin, in an attempt to one-up her, tried to carve a skull and crossbones, thinking it would be easy. It was not easy. The bones turned out a little bit squished while the top of the skull was sliced off because he cut too close to the top of the pumpkin. He was still proud of it, despite how much Ahsoka laughed at him. His other pumpkin was a little square outline of a robot head, with round eyes, a triangle nose, and straight mouth. Luke loved it and placed it next to his spaceship, claiming that they had to be together because they matched. Anakin decided that he liked that one better than the first.
Meanwhile, Obi-Wan was silently struggling. He thought carving pumpkins would be easy, but he quickly found out that it's harder than it looks. He tried to start simple with his first pumpkin, drawing a silhouette of a bat. It turned out okay, but the lines were a bit wobbly. His second pumpkin was a grinning vampire with two uneven fangs, one long thin one and one short thick one. Still, it adds character, he decided.
Padme spent most of the time helping her kids (and Obi-Wan) and didn’t have muc time for her own pumpkins. So she stuck with a couple of quick, easy designs. She carved a witch hat on one pumpkin and a cute little ghost on the other. They were nothing special, she thought, but she was pleased with how they turned out. When she was finished, Ahsoka declared her the winner of the competition (even though she wasn't competing) just because she knew it would annoy Anakin.
They put tea lights inside the pumpkins and replaced the tops. Luke and Leia began instructing the adults where to put their pumpkins, spreading them around the house. Some went on the porch, some went in the hallway, some went in the living room window, and some went in the back garden. Then, Luke took his spaceship pumpkin and Leia took her crown pumpkin to put in their bedroom windows.
~~~
“I think that went well,” Padme said hours later, as her and Anakin got ready for bed.
“See, I told you it would be fun,” Anakin teased her.
She sighed and rolled her eyes jokingly. “Yes, Ani, you were right. It was fun.”
“So, should we do this again next year?”
“Let’s just get through this Halloween first.” Padme laughed. “We still need to think of costumes for trick or treating.”
Anakin visibly perked up at. He loved trick or treating just as much as his children did.
“Oh, I have a few ideas,” he said excitedly.
Padme sat down on the bed with him, taking his hand in hers. She knew Anakin would probably come up with some crazy costumes so she would have to sort through his many ideas and choose one that was practical. But, at the same time, she loved when her husband got excited about little things like this. “Okay, what are you thinking?”

pls can u tell us mre abt ur ocs
BFKDBSKS OFC owo
Anyways under the cut, also I'm just gon write stuff abt the first three I redrew, I'm gon add some facts for the other four tomorrow hahah
Elmara
•in her 50s, well, physically that is, since she's the Goddess of Darkness, she's basically immortal
•a retired actress, through one of their sets, that's how she and her ex met
-ofc, bc of the pressure of the people and their manager, that's how they got together
-she did try to believe there was smth good in him, but yeah ever since they had their kids he changed, or rather she finally just how fucked up he was
-so when they got divorced, she really fought to keep the kids. They divorced when Jacob (their youngest) was still around 3y/o
•really really really likes tea, the kids are sure the other 70% of her is tea
•since she still has her own dark magic, she uses it to create shadow like beings to guard around their home during nighttime
•after the incident with her ex husband, she homeschooled the twins Wilhelm and Yvonne, Percival, and Jacob
-it took years of convincing before she finally relented and listened to her kids to let them go to actual school
-the incident, well, when the twins were 7, Percival was 5, and Jacob was 3, they were kidnapped by their father; shit happened, he had them hostaged, was broadcasted, and he showed everyone just how he burnt Percival's face w a branding iron
-when Elmara saw that, she went batshit man, like really used her dark powers to turn every camera off, got to the safehouse her ex was, broke the lights and killed him then and there
-no one really saw that she's the one who did it, ofc, so she made the excuse that he really was losing it and killed himself
-everyone believed her bc why wouldn't they
•believes her brother is out there somewhere
-despite her bitterness, she does miss him
~~~~~
Katarina
•aroace, she/they icon, we stan
•looks can be quite deceiving, she actually works at a local shop near their home
-in her late 20s
•got her scar from a fight during her highschool years
-she was so proud of it bc she won that fight
-she doesn't really have to work, but she somehow wants to be independent and not rely on her mother's money all the time
-really close w the manager of said shop, wc is a sweet old lady still trying to run the place for 10 years now
-really soft spoken when it comes to her boss ngl
-she actually didn't try to apply for the job as a clerk, she was called in to fix smth since she's a mechanic (but didn't get to finish her degree)
-they ended up applying bc they saw the manager and went "yeah, this place is gonna go bankrupt and Im too attached to this old lady at this point" after their boss gave her cookies as a thank you
•honestly rather dense ngl
-one customer was flirting w them and they're there wondering why she kept coming back when she said once she's going broke
•protective of her siblings ofc
-altho, she does get pissed at the twins sometimes but hey, they just love to mess w her
•really good cook, everyone's fuckin surprised
•actually saw the dark beings her mother made during night one time
-scared the shit outta em, but they didn't tell anyone cause she thought maybe she was just tired and was seeing things
•quick tempered, broke a ton of phones during her teen years
-Elmara had to make a compromise that if she breaks another phone she won't be getting one for another ten years
-that made her more careful with her stuff
~~~~
Luka
•genderfluid, he/they icon, we stan
-also in his late 20s
•an absolute freeloader
-Katarina has to force him out of the house sometimes and makes him help out in the shop
•is in a band as a lead singer
-tried to rope in Katarina in his band, but to no avail
•loves to help the twins w pranks
-got in trouble a few too many times
•took music in college, somehow it actually payed off
-his band is actually quite successful
-then again, he has the Galeas name, so he was already famous
•hes the type of sibling that can sense someone in distress a mile away and would try to cheer them up w his music
-he actually sang for the twins when they were still younger
-thats why they're close w him
•heard someone shit talk his mother once, threw hands w them and surprisingly he won
-it was 1v4
-Elmara was so fuckin worried abt him but his siblings were impressed
•lowkey a mama's boy actually, Elmara spoiled him rotten when he and Katarina were younger
-yeah really the opposite of Katarina

“The brush tapped his eyelids softly, one after the other. Cobb dragged it all the way out to Din’s temple, probably making the glitter look just like it had looked that other day on him, and even more warmth spread through Din at the thought, a small smile appearing on his face.”

I love your art and that I you so much for ceasing the angst but tf is up with Ziras arms in the newest one
🤷🤷🤷
I’mma be real with you, I did the sketch for the request when my art was being disgusting, and then picked it up tonight and did it in like 30 mins. My base was off, so the finished product is off.
But it’s also a sketch request, not a finished illustration, so the anatomy isn’t going to be as refined regardless since it’s more for my own kicks than being “professional”

I KNOW.
Shimmering Eye closed her mouth at his scowl. Fireheart knew he looked odd since the other cats would see him glaring at air, but he wasn’t in the mood. Nightmare after future after prophecy had been disturbing his sleep for days, each one as unreadable and vague as the last. On top of that his fight training had gotten more and more brutal. His throat still twinged slightly from last night’s battle. He would rather be in his nest than on his way to the Gathering. For the time he was lucky that he didn’t need to speak aloud to Shimmering Eye for her to understand him. He got enough odd stares from his clanmates already.
Thunderclan arrived at Fourtrees. They were the first to arrive so Fireheart made his way to his usual spot near the back to wait. He allowed his thoughts to wander for the moment. Shimmering Eye had said his foresight was growing stronger, especially since he was getting assigned his first mission from Starclan soon. Supposedly he would be getting visions soon...fun. He shut his eyes. He just wanted to sleep.
“You mind if I sit here?”
Fireheart blinked open his eyes to see a sleek, silver molly pad up to him. He hadn’t noticed Riverclan arrive. A few of the Riverclanners gave the molly an odd look as they passed, but she ignored them. He shrugged. She smiled slightly and sat her self beside him. He closed his eyes once more to catch a little rest.
“You’re that kittypet apprentice Thunderclan took in, right? Flamepaw or something?”
Fireheart didn’t open his eyes. “Or something.”
“Well, my name’s Silverstream. Just became a warrior a couple nights ago.” She said, pride clear in her voice,
The name rang a bell. Fireheart hummed. "Congrats.”
“...um...thank you?” She said after a slight pause. Ah, right, clan cats don’t use slang.
Wait...
“You’re Crookedstar’s kit.”
Silverstream cleared her throat a little awkwardly, and said suddenly “So, what’s it like living outside of the clans?”
Fireheart looked at her in surprise.
She blinked. “What?”
He shook his head, “Nothing, I just didn’t expect the question is all.” He turned his gaze away, deciding to ignore that she’d changed the subject. He wasn’t quite sure how to answer her question. Sure, city life was hard, but it wasn’t all bad. His siblings especially made his life a little easier. Tommy always made sure to stay on the positive side of things. Even when their mother was gone... especially after their mother was-
“Hey, kit.” Russetfur’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. The dark ginger she-cat trotted up to him and seated herself opposite of the side Silverstream had taken. “Who’s this?”
Silverstream’s eyes narrowed and she puffed out her chest slightly, “My name’s Silverstream, Shadowclanner, and we were just having a conversation before you rudely interr-”
A yowl sounded, pulling all three’s attention towards the Great Rock.
Fireheart noticed Crookedstar looking over the cats, his eyes landing on Silverstream. The molly tilted her chin up slightly, defiantly, and looked away. Crookedstar instead looked at him, eyes narrowed. Fireheart blinked, he really didn’t want to be a part of whatever was going on between those two.
Lucky for him, Bluestar began sharing her news, drawing Crookedstar’s attention away. Fireheart attempted to listen to the gathering. He got a couple minutes in before he startled awake to furious yowling.
“You Shadowclanners just want the whole forest to yourselves!” Silverstream snarled, lashing her tail.
Russetfur hissed, “Like we need Riverclan’s stinking fish!”
“That doesn’t sound like what your leader just said ,mange-pelt!”
Fireheart blinked slowly, completely confused. He turned his gaze towards the Great Rock where Crookedstar and Nightpelt were growling at each other. Clouds were rapidly coming in, covering the moon. Yet, despite the chaos, Fireheart felt more tired than ever.
Bluestar had scooted herself away from the fighting leaders and instead looked over her clan. Their eyes caught.
A strange sense of calm suddenly washed over the warrior. Before he could question it, his muscles stiffened suddenly, rendering him paralyzed. White creeped in from the corners of his vision. He caught sight of Bluestar’s shocked face before light overtook his eyes.
X
“-t......-it......kit? Hey, kit?”
Fireheart gasped sharply, muscles unclenching. His eyesight returned to him. He shivered, though he wasn’t cold. He had moved, now seated in the center of the clearing. From the looks of it, the gathering was over. The clans looked to be getting ready to leave. Cats shot him strange glances as they passed. The moon shone brightly overhead.
“Wha- what happened? His voice sounded strange to his own ears. It was croaky, as if he’d been yelling.
Russetfur and Silverstream shared a look.
“What do you mean?” Silverstream asked.
“Fireheart!” Bluestar called at the same time Crookedstar yelled “Silverstream?”
Russetfur frowned, “We’ll talk about all of ...this later.” She bounded off to her own clan before Fireheart could ask what she meant.
Silverstream nodded at him, “Take care.” and stalked over to Riverclan.
Fireheart stared after them and slowly made his way to his clan. Whitestorm looked proud. Sandstorm looked more annoyed than usual. Bluestar had in unreadable expression on her face. She looked over her clan once and turned to lead the way back home. Fireheart lagged in the back, looking over his shoulder at the clearing he had been standing in.
What the hell had just happened?
X
X
X
Ha, Fireheart’s short.
Well, that took a while. I redrew this page in different ways like four times. Are there grammar mistakes? Probably, but I’m too tired to fix them. So ignore them until I can’t.
This is the scene where Shadowclan wants Riverclan to keep letting them hunt on their territory and Riverclan is like, “Naw, man.” and Shadowclan gets pissy and then they both get happy cause Windclan is gone so they can hunt on their territory! Only, this one ended differently. Mainly in that Nightpelt is not comfortable hunting in the territory of the clan his own drove out.
Russetfur believes deeply in Shadowclan values and traditions, and Starclan forbid she ever allows Silverstream to insult her clan like that! Russetfur also gets a redesign because I thought she looked rather plain.
Remember when I said Starclan couldn’t Star-Eye Fire until he became an Eye? Yeah, I meant that. So no, that’s not what happened in this scene. Fireheart’s just growing up and his abilities are getting stronger. But, he doesn’t have control over them, so there might be some instances where he does things under foresight or vision or something and not remember.
Also, should I link previous and future pages to the posts so the book events are in order?

Kisses from the moon
Hello! I wanted to write shameless fluff with lots of kisses and this is exactly what it is. I’d like to believe that for a first timer in the kissing department, I did it okay lmao
It's rated t btw. You can find it in ao3 as well. Enjoy!
Summary: She didn’t know how it happened, the only thing she recalls is that they had meant to depart with one chaste kiss on the lips and somehow it had quickly escalated to unknown territory, though for sure not quite an unpleasant one.
It hasn’t been that long since the battle of the Storm Spire and relationships among the neighboring kingdoms couldn’t be any more restrained — the shifting alliances have been slightly worrisome but the newly pledge between the Dragon Queen and the young King of Katolis compensate all the arising uncertainties, if just a little.
Rayla doesn’t know that much about politics but she supposes that last bit gave enough solace to the kingdom. A bright occurrence amidst the cataclysmic disputes and deadly wars.
And since this was now her home away from home, she was very well informed — rather unwillingly — in its state of affairs.
Both Callum and Ezran (and Bait too, apparently) had firmly made her know that if she was one hundred percent sure and at ease with the idea overall, she was more than welcome to stay in Katolis, no matter if it was merely a temporary arrangement. It took quite a lot of arguments and counterarguments from both parties and even further persuasion from the two brothers (and frog) for her to concede to the proposition with an underlying hesitation.
She was fairly certain that her residency in the kingdom — and in the castle no less — will not be as gladly received. She’ll have to withstand many scornful looks and insensitive judgments left and right, her presence won’t do any good there. Plus, she would feel so out of place and a little bit too conscience-stricken for her liking. But then again she didn’t have anywhere else to go, nowhere to call home.
It was all very confusing and frustrating, rightfully so.
Later that night, with the moonlight casting shadows over the two lovers that were basking in the company of one another and with no impending death hanging in the air, a five-fingered hand was tenderly holding her four-fingered one, a warm smile on each of their faces. Lazy strokes were traced on her wrist, going up to her palm and finally detouring to each of her fingers, making careless doodles with the tip of his forefinger. She let out a sigh of contempt.
A murmured ‘I love you’ was softly said to the wind followed by an imaginary heart being drawn on her palm.
She looked over at him. His eyes had softened a great deal and he now sported the gentlest of grins, he redrew the heart for emphasis. Rayla intertwined their fingers together and gave his hand an affectionate squeeze.
She’ll never get tired of hearing it.
“I love you, too.”
And maybe that was the little push that she needed to make up her mind.
That’s how she got here. In Katolis, she meant. Definitely not with her back pressed slightly against the wall and a pair of gentle hands that held onto her with urgency, if just a little shyly.
She didn’t know how it happened, the only thing she recalls is that they had meant to depart with one chaste kiss on the lips and somehow it had quickly escalated to unknown territory, though for sure not quite an unpleasant one.
They were both expected somewhere else, the kiss was just a farewell gesture, something to get them through the day until they could be close with each other again — which was most likely to be late at night or early morning for how tight their schedule was today.
Rayla needs to break it off. They need to get going. She doesn’t.
She felt his hands that were once placed safely on her waist, slowly trail down to rest on her hips with a lose grip. Hers started their journey upwards, tracing his neck with feather-light touches to finally cup each side of his jaw. Their lips moved against one another at a deliberately slow pace, their noses brushing every so often with each gentle pull.
They have kissed before, of course, but nothing like this.
A loving peck on the lips, a quick kiss on the forehead, even a small brush of lips against each knuckle. They had definitely had some kisses that had lasted more than they should have but even those seemed to be cut short. No, this is new.
The gap between them came to be nonexistent, their breaths mingling together in their shared space. She felt warmth blossom in her chest as he pulled her even closer, his thumb slowly drawing small circles on her hip and when she felt him smile against her lips she couldn’t help but let a small smile out too.
Kissing him has always felt quite exhilarating, a rush of feeling that made her heart soar and her mind numb. A tingling sensation that extended from the tip of her fingers up to her very lips, a warmth that consumed her and spread like a wildfire within. Rayla has never kissed anyone before — she hadn’t felt the need to, having little interest in that sort of matter before— but she had seen Runaan and Ethari display little shows of affections every so often, and as a kid, her inherent curiosity had led her to wonder how loving someone felt like.
Ethari had said that it was like holding your whole heart in between your hands, so delicate and precious that the rest of the world blurs and fades away having no point of comparison with its beauty. Runaan, ever the pragmatic, said that it was a matter of sentiment — you feel everything more intensely.
She reckons that both are quite true, to some extent. Though, she might add her own contribution to the mix: it felt like a typhoon of emotions all at once; you feel weak yet strong, confused yet never more certain in your life, vulnerable yet empowered. It’s warm-hearted, a tender gesture. But then again, it’s something that she cannot fully put into words because the concept is so abstract and the action is so blissful that no notion will ever do justice to what she feels.
Soft kisses soon became frenzied presses of lips and their hands seemed to have a mind of their own, moving on their own accord and trying to frantically touch every patch of skin, clinging to the fabric of clothes in an attempt to be closer. His breath faintly tickled the skin beneath her nose, their heartbeats rhythmically pounding against their chests, and the almost inaudible sighs of delight, whenever their lips brushed against each other, was all she could hear in the secluded corner of the castle. Her senses were overflowed with his presence.
She couldn’t help the soft gasp she let out when he gently bit her bottom lip and pulled it in between his own. It was definitely something they haven’t done before and the action's intimacy promptly took her off guard.
And then he was frantically pulling away, eyes wide with horror and with eyebrows that seemed to reach his hairline, his lips the tiniest bit swollen from their whole encounter. His hands were still on her hips but if he was desperately trying to bring her forward before, he was now doing his best to hold her at arm’s length.
He was quite a sight and she would find it in herself to poke fun at his ridiculous countenance if she didn’t think he was on the verge of a mental collapse.
“I-I’m so sorry, that was not— and I just— I got carried away... Not that that excuses it! I — oh Gods,” Callum stumbled over his words, hand clasped over his eyes, and shifting uneasily on both feet. Rayla had trouble deciphering the inarticulate unfinished sentences that were being stuttered past his mouth but his body language could clue her in.
She raised a single eyebrow whilst fighting an amusing smile from breaking out.
With tentative fingers, she reached forward to lace their fingers together with the hand that was covering his face, his momentary flinch didn’t go unnoticed as she did so.
“Hey,” she softly said with a small smile on her face because leave it to him to straight-up freak out during one of the most intoxicating kisses they have shared so far in their relatively new courtship. She gently rubbed her thumb on the side of his hand as a silent way to reassure him that it was all good. He visibly relaxed a tiny bit, though still showing a little apprehension for his actions done in the spur of the moment. “I liked it.” She shrugged, not quite meeting his eyes and she wanted to smack herself for the uncharacteristic demeanor.
She felt a coy smirk tug at the corners of her mouth, “I really liked it.” Rayla relished the way his face went from rueful to downright embarrassed, a deep flush spreading all over his cheeks and up to the tips of his ears. She couldn’t stop the heartening laugh this time.
“O-oh?” She heard him mumble. He rubbed the back of his neck with the hand that was not holding hers, and she playfully rolled her eyes at her dorky human prince’s antics.
“In fact, I wouldn’t mind tryin’ it out again.” She said while mindlessly arranging the scarf on his neck that has become rumpled by her own doing. She looked at him solemnly, this being a little unfamiliar to both of them and the uncertainty of how to approach was slowly killing her. With a clear of his throat and his forest green eyes thoroughly searching hers to silently confirm what she had put into words, he shifted forward.
“Well, in that case,” He brought one hand to pull her closer while he raised the other one to caress her cheek lovingly. His eyes stared earnestly at her as if he could find all the wonders in the world by solely looking at her. It was wistful thinking, but she’d rather not dwell into that right now. Not when the only thing that matters was the blitheness from her heart and the prince that was the cause of it all.
He drew her toward him as the space between them once again diminished and with half-closed eyes, slightly pursed lips, and with the erratic thumps of the heart filling the air, they slowly leaned in again.
He nudged his nose against hers and placed a small kiss in the corner of her lips. Callum smiled, he went to do the same on the other side but she’d have none of it. She looped her forearms loosely at the back of his neck and lunged forward — she took delight in the muffled hum of surprise.
Their lips glided lazily but surely against each other, and this time — with the self-consciousness fading away and the overwhelming feelings of adoration rising in its place — the kiss quickly took a passionate turn. Fervent lips searched hers and she returned the gesture in equal measure.
When they came to this corner almost hidden from any prying eyes to share a light kiss, one which swiftly became so much more, Rayla had been concerned they would get caught. They never seemed to get any privacy in the heavily guarded walls of the castle and sneaking around resulted in their last resort, something that both thrilled her and troubled her; there was always a crown guard just around the corner, a handmaid that not so subtly eyed them from afar, or worse, the High Cleric that without fail appeared around inopportune instances.
The number of times she had wished the earth to open up and swallow her whole were unimaginable.
But now, as she now pulled his bottom lip in between her own, that thought was dismayed and stored in the back of her mind because kissing Callum made all of those seem as insignificant worries as every kiss felt like the very first one — she was sure there wasn’t a greater feeling than being in his arms. She could stay here forever.
That was until a nervous cough could be heard behind them, a few paces away from the darkened corner. They jumped apart.
“Prince Callum,” Corvus gave a slight bow, eyes not quite looking directly at the couple, “your presence is required in the throne room.” He cleared his throat, posture uptight as always but shifting from one leg to another rather uneasily.
Oh, sweet primals.
Rayla could already feel the burning sensation on her face and ears and quickly disentangled herself from his embrace in an attempt to put some proper distance between them. He was not expecting her briskly move and promptly stumbled over his own two feet, arms flailing to catch his balance before he fell somewhat unceremoniously on the ground below.
“Corvus, hi! Yeah, I was just on my way. I was just telling Rayla about the... uh,” He trailed off, unsure of what to say that would be credible enough to somehow cover up their real deed. Rayla was sure she was just about to die from embarrassment.
Corvus placed both his arms behind himself and with a deadpan expression affirmed, “I assure you, your highness, I do not need an explanation. It is all good. Nevertheless, let’s not keep the High Council and the King waiting, shall we?” Rayla could have guaranteed the corners of his mouth lifted in the slightest — almost imperceptible — in what she could only assume was amusement. “And Rayla, Soren is waiting in the courtyard for your daily training session.”
With that last bit, she nodded in acknowledgment and went straight to where she was initially supposed to be nearly fifteen minutes ago. And she almost gave Soren the triumph of his life since the only thing on her mind was how much she had enjoyed their little rendezvous and the excitement of its reprise was as annoying as it was enthralling.

Tumblr media
Hours had passed since the "math duel" and the sun had began its descent, setting the town ablaze with a warm orange glow. Krel had spent a portion of the evening exploring, or rather wandering, throughout more of the town, observing it's people. Many of the humans were out in pairs at this hour, some of the pairs had included smaller versions of themselves in whatever activities they were partaking in. He had spied a young pair of, well, human girls at the park, almost identical except in the tones of their skin and the color of their hair, and a pair of adults he assumed were their parents seated on a bench not far away, sitting at polar ends from each other on the bench conversing on their communication devices, otherwise leaving the two children on their own.
The girls themselves didn't appear perturbed or at all bothered by their parents behavior, more entertained by the images on the platform they made with the unusual writing untensils in their tiny hands. Well, all Earthly untensils were unusual in Krel's perspective; pencils, pens, markers, but ones that the two girls used were different even from those. These were maybe the length of an unused pencil but far thicker than a marker and... powdery? His head tipped as he watched one blow away part of her line, the colorful powder pushed into the air in one big gust, as she redrew the line. Her fairer toned sibling patted a hand on her clothes, a blue colored handprint left behind on the green fabric. Both girls took notice of the mark and giggled, the first girl Krel was watching pressed a hand to her own clothes and left a pink handprint similar to the other's blue. The action brought a smile to his face, it has been a while since that happened.
He eyed the girls' parents again. Would it be rude if he just started talking to the children? Their parents didn't seem to be very attentive at the moment. Doesn't that sound familiar? But he was curious about their weird, colorful writing tools. Hm, maybe if he just kept a decent distance as he spoke to them. He didn't want to come off as strange.
Tumblr media
"Excuse me," he approached the girls, kneeling to their height at what he believed was a respectable distance. Both girls looked at him, shifting as if they were preparing to run at the first opportunity, Krel wasn't exactly surprised by the reaction seeing as a lot of the commercials on the picture box involved something called 'stranger danger' and he was, afterall, a stranger to them. But he pointed at their drawings, from a closer examination the colorful etchings turned out to be crude imitations of other Earth creatures, a lot of them with long ears and roundish tails and a few like clouds with legs. "What is that you are writing with?"
The wariness in their eyes wavered as they looked down at the drawings around them and then at the untensils in their hands.
"You mean chalk?" The yellow-haired one asked, pointing her free hand to the blue powdery stick she held.
"Chalk," Krel echoed thoughtfully. "And you, ah, draw with it?"
"Yea, dummy," her sister answered. "Haven't you used chalk before?" They gave him identical looks of confusion only someone their age could.
"No, actually, I haven't." Krel answered back quietly. "We don't have anything like 'chalk' where I am from." He looked down at their drawings again, noticing colors other than pink and blue, there was a yellow circle he figured was the sun judging by the green landscape below it and many other colorful dots he supposed were plants. His head tilted so the image wasn't completely upside down in his perspective. "You have some very pretty drawings."
"Do you want to try?" The yellow-haired girl asked, holding out her chalk stick to him.
He eyed the shrunken piece of blue in her open palm. "A- are you sure?"
"Sure!" The girl chirped, a smile spreading over her features, a matching one on her sister's as well. "We do this all the time, its fun."
Krel took the chalk from her, rolling it and turning it in his hand, blue powder stuck to his palm wherever it touched. He looked up to see the girl reach behind her sister and pull out another stick of chalk, purple this time. They went back to scribbling on the bricks around them. He watched as their creativity grew and spread, narrowly crossing over each other's work and somehow still blending together.
Looking down at the emptiness around him where their chalk hadn't yet touched. What would he draw, he wondered. Things considered artistic escaped him, even on his planet; he couldn't understand poetry, the closest he gets to crafting is inventing gadgets, even basic drawing on a telepad wasn't something he had much skill in. What could he draw? Well, shapes are pretty simple.
He started with a triangle, Earth's history was full of them according to Kubritz and her research teams. Ancient tombs and monuments to societies that have long since passed, the triangle was acknowledged as the strongest structure, those words rang true clearly. A square, the basic form of most present day structures; there wasn't anything too spectacular about it, a little more space than a triangle, sure but meh. Then a circle, a shape Krel was most familiar with, there wasn't a screen or viewing monitor in Akiridion-5 that did not have circles, and even then there were links that connected them to more circles. On Earth, circles meant unity to some and a means of 'alien' communication to others - Kubritz.
"Can't you draw?" The brown-haired girl asked as she crawled over to look at his work.
"I am not very talented." Krel admitted. "But drawing with chalk is fun."
"Try drawing your family." Her sister suggested as she joined them. "That helps me sometimes."
Krel hummed at that logic. It was sound enough, even if he was currently at odds with his family and it was an extremely delicate situation. But they are human children, it was probably best to go along with it.
He started with Aja, forcing himself to recall her human form; it wasn't perfect, especially since he was limited to one color but he knew. Next his mother, whose disguise he's only seen a handful of times so this may be a little more difficult. That was nothing to drawing his father. How does one draw face fur?
The girls giggled at the etching.
"That one looks like a monkey." The yellow-haired one pointed to his etching. His gaze roamed over the attempted drawing and felt laughter bubbling in his chest.
"It seems you are right." Oh, how was Krel going to look at his father's face without laughing now?
He looked around them, seeing that the sky was gradually getting darker, getting closer to the time that younglings would be taken back to their homes. The girls' parents were still occupied with their own priorities, poor girls.
"I suppose I should go," he sighed, giving back the chalk he was given, "you will be going home soon." Krel did not expect such saddened expressions at his words.
"Do you have to?" The brown-haired girl asked, watching him stand up.
"I'm afraid so." He dusted the blue powder on to his jeans. "But I'm sure we will see each other again."
"Really?" The yellow-haired girl asked excitedly.
"Of course," Krel chuckled. "I wander around when I have free time." He watched as they shared a look, tipping his head as they stood as well, the yellow-haired one picking up the blue chalk and holding it out to him again.
"My name's Abby," she said, bouncing a little on her heels as she shook the chalk at him.
"And I'm Gabby." Her sister added proudly. "You can have the blue one, then we can draw again next time. Right?"
A smile pulled at his lips again. It would be a shame to see their faces fall again in sadness. He took the chalk from Abby. "That sounds fun. My name is Krel, it was nice to meet you both."
They waved at him as he walked away, pocketing the chalk he was gifted. Maybe he can find out where they get it next time so he can obtain more himself. He admired the blue powder that tainted his palm, opening and closing his hand, it was somehow amusing how the color clung to his flesh. It was almost as if his real body was peering through, if only.
After a bit of wandering, the sky growing darker, and some of the street lights were blinking to life Krel found himself at a back alley behind some stores that surrounded the park, if his memory of the town map was correct. It was empty of any lifeform that was human as he stepped in, looking around at his surroundings carefully; four-legged creatures that he was told were cats saw his approach and ran off into hiding; even smaller creatures scurried away behind them, leaving Krel alone with the garbage bins of two different sizes, the walls of the buildings were clean aside from the occasional stain near the bins or moss that grew more toward the ground.
He wasn't sure what compelled him to do so but he pulled the piece of chalk from his pocket and wrote the equation from the math duel, following it with his correct work and answer. Satisfaction washed over him as he wrote his answer, the right answer, his original answer. He was still a bit stuck on his why's during the duel, he knew he did a good thing for Seamus so what did it matter anymore. Why did Seamus stare at him when it was over?
Krel's hand moved to write another equation, it was more complex but watching the letters and numbers come into being it made sense to him, it always made sense to him, similar to cataloging past events and his planning for the future. It was comforting as he continued the equation, spreading it further along the wall, blue clear against the red brick but still convoluted. Had he been less taken in with his work he probably would have felt more guilty about how much of the chalk he was using up. He didn't notice the approaching person behind him until they addressed him.
"Kubritz?"
Krel whipped around, instinctively taking up a defensive battle stance startling the newcomer. That was... Seamus? And was holding an item in each hand, they didnt seem to be weapons though so he could relax somewhat. Not completely though, he has noticed around the education prison that some human males in their age group tended to be, well, boorish and found amusement in harassing other males they perceived as weak, and Krel's human form unfortunately suited that perception. Primitive. He'll be sure to correct that.
"Uh... hey," Seamus waved one of the things he held, the action stiff. His eyes flicked beyond Krel, looking over the equations behind him. "What're you working on?" His gaze followed the equation to the start, lingering on the work shown. "Looks complicated."
"You have no idea." Krel wasn't trusting this interaction, not that there was any reason to.
"Hey- Look, you can relax, uh, whatever move that is," Seamus gestured to Krel's posture with whatever it was he held. "What is that anyway? Judo? Jujitsu?"
Krel eased his stance but kept a leery eye still on the human. "Nothing you have ever seen, I assure you." He answered in little more than a monotone.
"Ookay...?" The human coughed, taking a few meeger steps toward him with a hand extended outward. "You want a burrito? I dunno if you've eaten yet or anything but it's an idea right?" He gave a pitiful laugh as he stopped only a few feet away, the thing in his hand slumping over his fingers like it was trying to slip out of his grip.
As a being of energy, Krel had no need to consume organic materials, but he has been curious. On another hand Earth has a history in poisoning consumables for enemies, again not that it should affect him, maybe.
A sigh escaped Seamus, seeming to notice Krel's reluctance. "I just want to apologize for my behavior." He said, "You didn't deserve it. You earned the grade fair and square."
"I suppose I should say that I'm relieved you've gained some sense." Krel retorted, not completely convinced.
"Okay... I earned that." Krel saw Seamus' grip tighten around the 'burrito', his restraint was admirable. "But you didn't have to let me win, so why did you?"
Krel finally took the burrito, examining it for a moment before tearing the aluminum wrapping like he's seen other humans do and bite into it. The texture was strange, soft, soggy; the taste was savory, it was weird feeling the crunch of vegetables but overall it wasn't bad but he didn't have much in expectations, so, another point for Earth.
"Wanna sit?" Seamus gestured to the the sidewalk. Krel didn't object, taking another bite of his burrito and joining him on the cold cement just a yard or so from a flickering lamppost.
"I had nothing to gain," he answered finally, getting a startled look, "from winning the math duel. Nothing to lose either, unlike you."
The human's head ducked almost sheepishly. He must have recalled how loud his father was in bellowing their agreement. If it could have been called that.
"Again, I'm sorry," he declared. "My dad just has high expectations. Very high."
"Understandable."
"Is it really?"
Krel frowned at him. "Just because my parents are not present does not mean I don't have my own problems with them."
Seamus' face turned even more guilt ridden. "R-right, sorry," he stammered, a red hue spreading over his features. He was quiet for a moment, taking large distracting bites of his own burrito. The silence allowed Krel a moment to gather his thoughts about the present situation, and possibly plan for what could happen next. Maybe he could somehow make Seamus an ally, like Aja had with the majority of their peers, to keep his disguise here. It certainly would make things easier than researching every tidbit about this mudball to blend in while Morando outsources the search for Gaylen's core. The question was how to do so.
"You," Seamus spoke up again, breaking the silence between them, "you came from a warring country, right, like Aja Tarron and her family?"
The words brought a bitter curl to his lips. Her family, may as well be, ironic, consider she used to run away from her family at every opportunity.
"Yes," Krel answered softly. "Maybe even the same country, if luck would have it." Some luck that would be.
"What happened? I-if you don't mind me asking."
The expression on Seamus' face was different from before; softer, solemn, perhaps even sympathetic. It's been a clear background to his class that Krel escaped from a war torn country with no family besides Morando who was discharged due to injury during the fight. Could this be the opportunity he needed to make Seamus his ally? To make a 'friend'? In one quote Krel had heard, he now understood. When opportunity knocks, it would be wise to open the door.
"I-it all happened so fast," Krel began, quickly coming up with details to twist the story from the traumatic reality. "It happened on the coronation day for the royal heirs; my parents both had high political and military positions so my sister and I were allowed good seats to see the crowning," he kept his voice low, allowing some of the emotion he kept at bay to fill his words, "everyone was excited, we all had high hopes. The princess hadn't made her appearance yet when the attack happened." Krel swallowed thickly as the real memory came to mind. The running, his parents ordering him and Zadra to find Aja, falling behind, and being left behind. "It was chaos; people were running everywhere, trying to find each other and to find shelter, soldiers and their weapons, the cannon fire..." his eyes were leaking again, it was too much already with so little spoken. What was wrong with him? "I- I was too slow, my... my parents- my sister, gah, what is wrong with me?" He took the fabric of his shirt, quickly trying to wipe away the streaming liquid, his chest felt heavy, his core ached. Krel hadn't felt like this since he first found Aja and their parents on Earth. His head hurt.
A hand touched his shoulder making him freeze up. "It's okay." Seamus' voice was calm, relaxing even. "You've been through a lot, huh?"
Krel sniffed, trying to regain some composure before answering. "You have no idea."

The ship had been sitting in the harbor for exactly two days, three hours, 30 minutes, and 41 seconds. You timed it, tapping your foot against the tiles of the hallway. The moon was still in the sky and wouldn’t be rising for another three hours. You had three hours to convince the crew of that ship to take you in. Why? Well, you didn’t want to get married, that’s why.
The gold band around your ring finger was more of a shackle than any chain or handcuff. You snuck out of the backdoor. It was...easier than you thought it. You wore a pair of baggy pants that you stole from your brother and a nightshirt with the end result being a tragic mess.
On your way, you ran into a young guard. His face looked new, so he was likely in training. He looked startled to see you there and you could almost feel the nerves rolling off of him. You smiled and he looked hesitantly from you to the backdoor.
“Hey aren’t you-?” He started, but you swiftly kneed him where the sun didn't shine and sprinted. He groaned in pain, falling down with a loud thud and probably waking up half the household. You didn’t have much time.
The wind ran through your hair as you hurried down the darkened streets. You tried your best to take the back routes, the smell of the sea drawing you nearer. You had always felt a connection to the sea, you couldn’t stay away from it. The crystal waters, the froth of a storm, the salt that tinged the air. You fell in love with it and fell out of love with your home. Ever since...You shook your head, trying to forget the past.
Your skin longed for the cool water to lap over it, to caress your body, and take you away from the awful life you had. Well, it wasn’t that awful, but it was certainly no way to live. Yes, you had luxurious items, but that wasn’t what you wished for. Adventure called to you as you neared the docks. The distant shouts of men and the sound of metal clanking against metal invaded your senses. In your hand was a small bag of necessities; a change of clothes, undergarments, a pen, and a notebook of papers. You made your way to the ship you had been watching for the past three days.
The ship was tall and proud, the mast reaching high into the sky. The sails were drawn in, the anchor weighing down the wood. The ship looked weathered but sturdy. There was a dim candle flame flickering in the round window of the ship. You took a deep breath and stood outside the hull. The walkway was drawn up so you weren’t left with many options. You checked your watch. You had two hours to sunrise. Two hours until everyone would begin looking for you, maybe less. You looked around the dock, searching for and gathering stones. You took a deep breath, returning to your spot.
Five chances. You held the other four rocks in your arm and then with your dominant hand, you gripped one of the stones. You winded up and threw. Clank. It hit the hull. No movement. You sighed and moved to aim for the window. Clank. It missed by a few feet. Three more chances. Your hands clenched and unclenched nervously. You had never been...the most athletic. Clank. Closer. Clank. Right on the money.
You held your breath, waiting as the candlelight suddenly disappeared from the window and the small circle popped open. The candle stuck out, now attached to an arm. The dawn was fast arriving, the sky lighting up into a gray sky, the clouds still overcast.
“Who goes there?” A deep voice barked out.
“I was wondering if you had any, uh, any openings on your ship for one more?” You called out, your voice traveling easily in the quiet. Upon hearing your voice, the hand withdrew, and instead, a face popped out of the hole.
“Little girl, do you know who we are?” The man had very defining features, his nose prominent and his lips wide.
“No, but I really just want to get out of here, you have to let me on.” You could almost hear your mother calling for you.
“There’s a merchant ship coming in the morning, you can hop on their ship.” You saw him look you over.
“Achem, sir, you don’t understand I...I need to go now.”
“You being chased or something?” The man narrowed his eyes.
“Something like that.” You smiled weakly.
Surprisingly, he laughed loudly and disappeared from the window. A few moments later he appeared on deck, a coat hastily thrown on as he lowered the stairs for you.
“Climb aboard.” He held out his hand and you hurried forward heart pounding. “I’m Taehyung, the gunner on this here crew.” He explained as he redrew the walkway. “Let’s just say this isn’t the first time we’ve helped a runaway.”
“Thank you.” You said breathlessly.
“Though, we’ve never helped one quite as pretty as you, maybe Jin?” He seemed to go off into his own tangent.
“I think you’re very...pretty, sir?” You said awkwardly.
“I’m glad you think so.” He laughed and slung his arm around your shoulder. “I think you’ll fit in just fine-”
“Kim Taehyung, who the hell is this.” A new voice barked. A tall man appeared from the shadows.
“Ah, Jungkook, this is…” Taehyung turned to you expectantly.
“Y/N.” You finished for him, summoning a smile despite wanting to turn around and run.
The man, Jungkook, was intimidating, his aura commanding attention. He had inky black hair and even darker eyes. The man looked like he had just gotten out of bed and yet he still looked handsome.
“Y/N, this is Jungkook, our fearless captain.” Taehyung stood up straighter.
“Nice to meet you.” You bowed your head.
“Why are you here?” Jungkook wasted no time.
“I’m running away.” You were apprehensive to tell him much else. What if he just delivered you back home after hearing your story? Would he think you were a stuck up brat?
“From who?”
“My mother,” You started, he scoffed. “And an arranged marriage.” You continued quietly, shifting uneasily from foot to foot. The ring on your left finger felt heavier than ever as he scrutinized you.
“Fine. You can stay, but you need to pull your weight.” He turned on his heel. “Follow me.”
Taehyung rushed forward, shoving you along as well.
“Exciting! He’s never this quick in his judgment, though he’s always had a soft spot for young ladies such as yourself.” He whispered.
“Y/N?!” Your mother’s distinct voice called. “Is that you?!”
“Shit.” You muttered. Of course, that guard went and tattled on you! What happened to the scout’s honor?  Taehyung turned, along with Jungkook.
“I suppose that’s your people?” Jungkook raised an eyebrow and walked purposefully past you. He was at the side of the ship in four strides. “Who goes there?”
“Lady Y/LN. I request my daughter to be returned immediately!” Your mother’s shrill voice shot through the harbor. You winced at her tone, eyes meeting Jungkook’s. You begged him not to tell her, but he didn’t seem to register you at all.
“I’m sorry, we have no woman on this ship, Lady Y/L/N.” Jungkook responded curtly and walked away from the side, ignoring your mother’s protests. You watched him, confusion and shock written on your face. Did he just...defend you? No one had ever done that before, taken your side. It had always been you versus the world.
“Get ready to set sail. It seems we can’t stay here much longer and Ms. Y/N, I need to speak with you immediately.” Jungkook clasped his hands behind his back, walking forward.
You hurried after him, falling into step just a pace or two behind. You weren’t well versed in crew behaviors, but if he was the captain, he was much like a nobleman. And you always had to fall a step behind a nobleman, regardless if you were a man or woman, but especially if you were a woman.
There were shouts as Taehyung wrestled his crewmates out of bed. As you sat in, what you assumed to be, Jungkook’s office, you could hear the footsteps of several other people. They all scurried to the demands of a new muffled voice.
Jungkook took a seat, propping his legs up on the desk and crossing them. You realized he was, in fact, no nobleman at all. He watched you carefully as you sat across from him.
“So, you’re going to tell me all about yourself, little miss, and then I’m going to give you two options, got it?” He rested one arm on the back of his chair, the other hanging over the armrest.
“Right.” You cleared your throat, still trying to take in all that had happened. His eyes appraised you, flickering from your eyes to your lips to your neckline.
“Well, I’m Y/N, as you know. I ran away because I’m being forced to marry someone I don’t love, simple.” You explained dryly. You flashed your engagement ring and then slid it off, pocketing it. “Haneul isn’t a bad guy, but we don’t mix at all and I don’t think I’d survive a day married to him.”
“Alright.” That seemed to be a good enough excuse. The captain pursed his lips in thought. “I’ll give you two options. Option one; you join my crew full time. Option two: we drop you off at the next town and you’ll be on your own.”
“Both sound...not so bad.” You thought for a moment. He seemed amused. You wanted adventure, you didn’t want to be dumped off on your own again. “I’ll join your crew.”
“Do you know who we are?”
“No, I just saw your ship, and, well, I’ve always loved the sea.” Your eyes went distant as you thought about it.
Jungkook smirked, letting out a chuckle of laughter. He took his feet off the desk and leaned on the desk, chin resting on his interlaced fingers.
“Welcome to the crew of the Bulletproof Boy Scouts.”
Shit.
Tumblr media
Okay, so jumping aboard the most feared pirate crew of the decade was not the best decision you had ever made. It was right up there with agreeing to an engagement you knew you would never follow through with and stealing your mother’s jewelry.
“You can’t fish, you can’t wield a sword, and you can’t even cook. So what can you do, little lady.” Jungkook frowned, drumming his fingers impatiently on the desk.
The slight swaying of the ship was making you nauseous and it didn’t help that you were below decks and not up above. It felt extremely stuffy, borderline claustrophobic.
“I can draw. I’ll help you navigate and write out maps.” You cleared your throat, trying to settle your stomach.
“Hm…” His eyes were cold, calculating, as he seemed to think it over. “I suppose so, but you’ll need to help Jimin with his chores as well.”
Jungkook stood and motioned for you to follow him. He opened the wooden door and led you down a series of halls. They were short and thin. Your shoulders almost brushed the sides if you walked straight. You didn’t feel...scared of Jungkook. He was definitely intimidating, but you didn’t fear for your life. You had heard the tales of his crew being merciless and cutthroat, not sparing a single person on a ship if they happened to raid it.
“There are some things we need to go over.” He stopped and turned to you.
You stopped short, trying not to bump into him, but a wave of dizziness washed over you. You were definitely feeling a bit seasick, but you had enough pride not to tell him.
“Which are?” You stared at him, your expression confused.
“In order to become a full-fledged crew member, you need to go through our trials.” He explained.
You waited for him to continue, your attention still on him. You were very good at following orders, you had been doing so your entire life. Reading social cues and understanding another’s position were all things you had been taught at a young age. It was mostly to prepare you for a valuable suitor, but you never had any intention of following through on that part.
“The trials are three things that you should be able to get through easily.” The dark-haired male turned back around, beckoning you to follow him. You fell into step once more. He stopped outside of a door.
“In here are your quarters. Now, before you go in, I’ll tell you about the trials. First, you need to spend a night in the holding cell below deck. Second, eating Jin’s carrot soup. It sounds innocent, but there’s always been something off about it. Third, you need to walk the plank.”
“Walk the plank?” Your eyebrows shot up.
Yes, you could float in the water, even keep yourself upright, but you had never been a strong swimmer.
“If this is your ploy to get rid of me, it won’t work, captain.” You gave him a mocking salute, before remembering your place.
He chuckled darkly. “Don’t worry, I’ll wait for you, Little miss.” You ignored the shiver that rolled down your spine.
“Y/N.” You interrupted, getting tired of being referred to as ‘Little Miss’.
“You earn your name here, darling.” He tilted his head and then turned around. “Meet at the jail tonight for your first trial.” He then proceeded to stride into the hallway and disappear around the corner.
You sighed and took a glance around the hall. It was completely silent except for the creaks and groans of the ship. You carefully opened the door. Inside, there was a desk pushed to the corner of the right wall. The left wall had a bed and on the wall farthest from you was a small round window.
You rushed forward and unlatched the window, letting the night air into your tiny room. You curled your fingers around the cold edge of the window, taking in a deep breath to settle your nerves. You swayed slightly, still trying to get a hang of walking on a ship. Five deep breaths later and you resigned yourself to shut the window. You quite liked the fresh air, but it was starting to get chilly.
The morning sun had finally graced its golden hue across the shimmering ocean. The waves skipped by, nothing more than a blur as the ship sailed away from the port. You opened your small bag and organized your things. You placed the notebook and pen in the desk drawer and stored your spare change of clothes under the bed.
It wasn’t anything too fancy, just a summery yellow dress that you knew would come in handy as it got warmer.  There was a soft knock at the door and you would have missed it if it weren’t for you already standing near the door.
You pulled out a string of white lace and tied your hair up with it. Then you shoved the rest of your belongings haphazardly under the bed.
“Hello? Is our little sea artist in there?” A voice you didn’t recognize called out to you.
“Yes, coming!” You knocked into the bed frame, hissing and cursing under your breath.
Being on the ship was already reversing years of properly trained manners. It wasn’t like the principles of dance and etiquette had ever really stuck in your mind anyway. You had only been on the ship known as BTS for about two hours and you had already grown attached.
You threw open the door, nursing your smarting elbow. A man with broad shoulders and the most perfectly shaped face you had ever seen stood in the doorway. He had an eyebrow raised, his hand frozen mid knock. You cleared your throat awkwardly.
“I’m sorry have we already met? I’m pretty bad with names.” It was a lie, but to be fair, the morning had been hectic. He just let out a laugh at your antics.
“No, I don’t believe so. I’m Kim Seokjin, but please, just call me Jin.” He said, dipping his head.
“Y/N.” You responded in turn and followed his gesture.
“Nice to meet you! I’m the boatswain here on this fine ship.” He grasped your arm and dragged you above deck. “The Captain asked me to give you a tour and introduce you to our crew.”
“Oh my god, I’m supposed to eat your soup later.”
He seemed deeply offended and he crossed his arms. “I don’t know why that’s still on the stupid trials. I don’t add any weird ingredients, it’s just carrot!”
Jin was the opposite of any rumors you had heard while Jungkook hit the mark perfectly. The contrast was astonishing.
The wind whipped around the loose strands of your hair as you stepped into the blinding sunlight. Waves flickered by, splashing harmlessly against the hull. Jin led you over to the bow of the ship where a young man was standing at a large steering wheel. He was accompanied by a shorter man and they were giggling about something. The picture was pretty adorable.
“Hoseok!” Jin shouted over the wind, pulling you until you were right in front of them. The young man flashed a dazzling smile, handing the wheel over to the man next to him.
“Hello! I’m Hoseok, everyone just calls me hobi, except for the Captain, but he’s a little grouchy.” The man, Hoseok, winked. You chuckled a little, Jungkook’s scowling face coming to mind.
“That’s Jimin, he’s the cabin boy and a little shy, but he’s right up there with the best of us.” He hitched his thumb over his shoulder, pointing to the man behind him.
Hoseok had dark brown hair and chocolate eyes that put you at ease. Jimin had light blonde hair and chubby cheeks. He sent you a shy little wave that made you want to coo.
“Alright, now get back to work, Hoseok. You can’t trust Jimin with the wheel for too long.” Jin rolled his eyes as Hoseok mumbled something under his breath. Then you were swept away to the other side of the ship.
A tall man wearing a loose white top and black pants stood at the railing, clearly deep in thought. Jin cleared his throat loudly, causing the man to startle. He turned around, his mouth open to scold the older man when he noticed you.
“H-hello.” The man seemed quiet. His voice wasn’t soft-spoken, just a little timid about the words he chose.
“Aish, snap out of it. Where’s our fearless first mate, yeah?” Jin patted his back hard, making him cough a little.
“That’s enough! That’s enough! You just startled me.” His voice was husky and low, but not as deep as Taehyung’s. “I’m Namjoon, first mate. You must be the new little miss.” There was a look of disdain in Namjoon’s eyes. “It’s been a while since we’ve had fresh meat.”
“Ah ha...right.” You subconsciously pulled your hair back tighter.
“Someone should go wake up Yoongi, he’s probably still sleeping and we need more fish.” Namjoon instructed, his voice firm without a hint of the timidness displayed a few moments prior. You could see why he was the first mate. Even Jin straightened slightly in his presence.
“Well, looks like there’s no one else around to do it.” The man beside you placed his hands on his hips, a frown was evident. “Come along, missy. You get to have the pleasure of waking him up.”
“I have a bad feeling about this.” You mumbled, following him below deck anyway.
You immediately wanted to go back up. Once you had experienced the freedom of standing on the deck, you couldn’t imagine electing to stay below deck for long periods of time. On another note, your parents would never allow you to sleep past 8:00 A.M. Yet another reason you were an opposite to this sleeping man. Jin took a right and stopped outside of a door.
“I just need to wake him up?”
“Sh!” He put a finger to his lips, then nodded frantically and pointed towards the door.
Then he bolted. He turned the corner, heavy footsteps pounding against the wood floorboards, a creak every now and then.
You sighed as you watched him go. You crossed your arms, pondering what to do. Why did no one want to wake this man up? He was probably harmless, but then again, this was the Bulletproof Boy Scouts who were known for being merciless. Suddenly, the hairs on the back of your neck stood tall. He’s standing behind me, isn’t he?
You turned around, halting a shriek from exiting your throat as you came face to face with a very pale man. You assumed he was Yoongi. Yoongi had very pale, bleached blonde hair and dark eyes. His face didn’t change when you met his gaze. The only sign he wasn’t a mannequin was his eyes moving to take you in. Then, his lips quirked into a smile.
“So I see the others didn’t have the balls to wake me up and instead sent the new girl?” He scoffed. “As if that would change anything, anyway, I’m up now so whatever, you’ve done your job. Now shoo.”
The interaction ended so quickly you got whiplash. The door shut in your face with a loud slam.
“Ah, it’s okay, miss, it’s a real skill to wake him up.” Jimin stood at the end of the hallway, a small smile on his face.
“Oh no, he’s awake, just rude.” You said, emphasizing the last part.
You really should be more thankful, but after meeting the crew, they didn’t seem so bad and you felt yourself quickly easing into the groove of things. There was a muffled crash from inside the room and a string of curses made their way through the door. You let out a breath.
“Anything else I need to do?” You asked, stepping closer.
Jimin seemed to ponder this before wildly shaking his head. His lips were pressed together and you weren’t sure if he was shy or staring at you with distaste. Considering his previous actions, you decided on the former. All the men on the ship held an intimidating presence, but Jimin felt timid. His aura was shy and withdrawn, yet he never seemed bothered by teasing.
“I’m just the cabin boy. If you want a specific job, ask Jungk-I mean the captain.”
“Right.” You nodded your head. Then the two of you fell silent.
You reflected on the men you’d met so far. Hoseok was kind with a warm face and sunny smile, you couldn’t imagine him being as vicious as people claimed. Jimin, who stood before you, had a quiet way about him, but he had the cutest gestures. Jin had a very motherly presence, warm, welcoming, and much like someone who you could depend on. Yoongi, who you’d just met, was, as you called him, rude. He seemed grumpy, a little rough around the edges, but was most likely a good guy. Taehyung was odd. He had this energetic way of conducting himself, yet his personality shifted so drastically when he spoke to Jungkook.
Namjoon held a look of disdain in his eyes when you introduced yourself to him. You chalked it up to him being apprehensive about suddenly have a new person on board. Jungkook was quiet and a bit of an enigma, but he always seemed to have a rage simmering just below the surface. His face floated into your mind and you had to stop yourself from blushing at the thought. Jungkook was one of the most handsome and shockingly beautiful men you had met in a long time. Which was saying a lot since you mostly spoke to nobility in your time at home.
“Right, well,” you stuttered awkwardly. “I guess I should get going.” You brushed past him as you made your way upstairs. He didn’t move, still a little dazed it seemed.
The ocean air was a welcome breeze. You made your way to the nearest railing and leaned over the edge, watching the land grow farther away. The winds were in your favor. The day was clear and the sun glinted off the ocean, making it shine like a diamond. Yes, a diamond that you wanted to spend your entire life polishing and sailing over.
“You might fall in if you lean too far over, little miss.” The unmistakable voice of the captain himself came from your right. You turned to look at him, ponytail flying around your neck as you faced away from the wind.
“Yeah? And who says I don’t want to?”
“The little miss has quite the sharp tongue already.” He watched you carefully, his eyes flicking over your body.
You knew these men had likely never worked with a woman before, but they all acted like you were the first meal they’d seen in ages. It was as if they’d never even seen a woman and that was factually untrue because Taehyung and Jungkook spoke with your mother. Though, you wouldn’t blame them for mistaking that screeching owl for some animal instead of a noblewoman.
“Must be the effect of being around you, lover boy.” You said without thinking, then suddenly halted. He raised an eyebrow and then barked out a laugh.
“You are a funny one, miss.” His eyes crinkled in amusement, his lips curling to show off a bunny smile. You huffed a little and turned back to look at the ocean skidding by.
“It’s beautiful out here. I thought I’d never see it.” You said after a brief pause. He just nodded, looking out over the deep cerulean blue of the sea.
“Despite all differences, everyone on this ship shares one thing in common.” He began, taking in a sharp inhale of salty air. “We all hold a deep love for the sea.”

The jail door slammed shut, keys locking it into place. It was dark, damp, and cramped down in the holding rooms. They weren’t so much rooms and more like little jail cells, metal bars, and all. You groaned, trying to reason with Taehyung.
“Taehyung, it’s so cold, could I at least have a blanket?” You pleaded. Sure, you sounded spoiled as fuck, but it was pretty chilly and you were probably going to catch a cold.
“No can do.” He stated simply, brushing his fingers through his long dirty blonde hair. In his other hand, he swung the keys around on the ring.
“What if the ship starts sinking, will you just let me drown?”
“The ship won’t sink.” His words did little to ease your worries.
Your teachers had always called you a worry wart, impulsive, and you had the habit of then freaking out when those impulsive decisions led to a bad situation. Just like now. You crossed your legs, leaning back against the wooden boards.
“Are you going to stand there all night?”
“Nope.” Taehyung smiled, or at least you thought he did. It was dark and the candle he held was on its last legs. “When the candle runs out, we switch places.” He explained. “I have the hard job of waiting until you’re asleep.”
“Oh boo hoo, you have to talk to me.” You rolled your eyes.
Your tutors would be horrified if they could see you now. There was a steady drip from the ceiling, which you didn’t want to know was from, and the wall you leaned against was slightly damp from the ocean crashing against it.
On the bright side, the ship was rocking so steadily it was quick to make you drowsy.
“Goodnight, little miss. Tomorrow I hope to call you Y/N.”
-
You came to around midnight. That’s what you thought at least. The jail was pitch black and you couldn’t help the little flutter of panic that crawled up your throat. Then there was a heavy stomping up the stairs that led to the jail and another set of stomping as someone descended. A flicker of light bounced over to you. The pale face illuminated made you wish you had woken up at a different time. Yoongi didn’t seem pleased to be awake either. You warily raked your fingers through your hair.
“What do you want?” You said, but your words lacked their usual bite. You were tired and the darkness weighing at the edges of your eye was honestly terrifying.
“Not sure, but I know I don’t want to be here.” Was all he said before falling silent, his eyes watching you like you were prey in the dark. The lull of the ship swept you up in its arms and carried you into dreamland once more.
-
The next time you awoke, you assumed it was before the dawn. You were met with a snoozing Jimin, the candle hanging limply out of his hand. The wax dripped steadily onto the floor.
“Jimin.” You reached through the bars, hand landing on his foot. He jolted awake, rubbing his eyes.
“Oh no, I fell asleep.” He mumbled, carding his fingers through his hair.
“It’s fine. It’s not like I’m going anywhere.” You smiled sympathetically.
Jimin seemed like the type to rethink things a lot, to regret or feel guilt unnecessarily. You were like that in a lot of ways and in all honesty, you saw in him the woman you were trying to break out off.
You had been taught all your life to be a simple woman. Simple-minded, not outspoken, and certainly no self-confidence. While you never took the subliminal messaging to heart, you always knew your place in society, and sometimes you could see that messaging shining through.
They did this using a lot of guilt. You remembered once asking to play with the boys instead of playing tea party, but the others screamed ‘what would your mother think? Your parents work hard for the money for your pretty dresses only for you to ruin it.’. He had never cared...Your mind drifted back to your guard from a few years ago.
“Captain will kill me, though.” Jimin took a breath and slapped his cheeks to wake up.
“My back is so sore.” You groaned, hand going to massage your lower back.
“The beds upstairs aren’t much better.” The man snorted. “Captain says that it’s a deterrent to slacking off. That doesn’t stop Yoongi, though.”
You watched him carefully, a small smile on your lips. Jimin came across very meek, but he had survived for a seemingly long time, so he must be strong in some capacity.
“Tell me about yourself, Jimin.” You kneeled next to the bars, wrapping your cold hands around the metal.
He tilted his head, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
“About...myself?” He asked. “Hm, people usually don’t ask me that.” He took a moment to think. His hand patted his non existent facial hair. You waited patiently, it wasn’t like you had anywhere to be. It was sort of calming.
“Well, when they say you’re not the first runaway they’ve helped, they mean me.”
“You ran away too?”
“Sort of. My father always pushed me to sail the sea, to grow some chest hair.” He scoffed. “That didn’t help much, but at the time BTS was disguised as a simple merchant ship. So I took up a job working as the cabin boy under Jungk-the captain.” He straightened, patting down the front of his t-shirt.
“I think the captain felt bad for me when he revealed what they actually were, but he didn’t expect me to want to stay. I became a runaway. You and I are both wanted people.” He smiled wistfully at you. “But it’s been years and people stopped searching for a boy from a small town. Actually, we’re going to dock at my hometown, so I’m not allowed to leave. I usually do the supply runs, but people would recognize me.” He explained.
You thought over his words. A runaway, huh? You and I are both wanted people. Right, you probably had a bounty on your head, but you didn’t want the journey to end so soon.
“What is the name of the town?”
“Krestleven.” His face revealed a pain long hidden away. Your breath halted, the town triggering your hidden memories.
He stood against the wall as you surveyed the crowd for a suitable guard. His eyes were as blue as the sky, as deep as the ocean itself. And you found yourself drowning. You pulled yourself from your thoughts.
“Do you miss home?”
His eyes held a far away look. He seemed frozen, eyes moving slightly as he thought. You wished you could see how his mind worked. Then he looked you in the eyes, his face void of emotion.
“BTS is my home now.”
Tumblr media
You stretched out your limbs, releasing a sigh of relief as your bones cracked. It was nice to breathe the fresh air. Down below, you had gotten a tad seasick and nausea wasn’t the best when you were in close quarters with yourself. The day was gray, heavy clouds rolling over the sea like an omen. Hoseok and Jimin looked tense as the ship came into view of the settlement. Jungkook, who stood next to Namjoon at the side, was frowning.
“Tell Yoongi that Jimin can’t go.”
“It’s been years, Jungkook, they won’t recognize him.”
“We don’t know that.”
“My word is final, Namjoon.”
Namjoon stiffened, gave a curt nod, and strode toward the stairs that led below deck. You hesitantly took a place next to the captain. Unlike the real world, in this fantasy, you had no idea what your place was. You didn’t know what boundaries could be crossed, but one night on the open sea had already opened so many doors for you. The captain barely registered your presence.
“Did you sleep well?” You asked.
“Well enough.” He said, but the dark circles under his eyes said otherwise.
You didn’t pry, simply nodding and turning back to watching the land come back into view.
“I can go.” You stated. His eyes turned to watch the side of your face, but you seemed serious.
“And why should I let you do that?”
“I’ve actually...I’ve been to Krestleven before.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, we get a lot of our guards from there.” You shrugged. “I picked out a guard a while ago, a personal guard.” You bit your lip. “But he died one night, protecting me, so I tried to avoid going back.”
You remembered the screaming, the crying. Days you spent inside, remembering his touch. So you swore to never love again, or that the next person you loved would truly be the one. You could only afford yourself one heartbreak and you planned on throwing yourself deep into it if you were to ever fall in love again. Jungkook seemed to read you well, because he remained silent. He didn’t comment on the noticeable shift in your aura, the slightest tension in your shoulders.
“You don’t have to go.” He said after a while, his hand suddenly coming up to rest on your shoulder and you tried not to notice the wince on his face when his fingers accidentally brushed the open skin of your neck. It was a touching gesture, the proximity seemingly intimate. You felt your heart flutter, but you pushed it away.
“No, I want to go.”
Tumblr media
Krestleven was as beautiful as you remembered it. Despite the cloudy sky, the sea was calm. The mountains in the distance towered over the cold town and all the houses were pushed together like penguins huddling for warmth. You had learned about penguins from one of your tutors. She had been a little...nutty as your mother would have said. She had been very enthusiastic about animals, but you always liked her best.
BTS had anchored out a little ways away and Jin took the rowboat with you and Yoongi to shore. Yoongi was quiet company, but Jin explained to you that it was in his nature. A man of few words. He had said. This had earned a glare from the shorter man.
Yoongi, being the striker, had extensive knowledge on the plant and marine life in the surrounding area. He claimed he needed to pick up some supplies in the town and then he’d be all set for the next voyage across the sea.
Stepping foot onto land was an odd experience after just gaining your sea legs. Your legs wobbled and you almost fell, almost. Yoongi, surprisingly, held out a hand to steady you, but you refused it. He raised an eyebrow, but then just dropped his hand and placed his hands behind his back.
“You two better behave!” Jin called, crossing his arms. He had to stay and watch the rowboat while you were gone.
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on him.” You joked.
You decided to wear your yellow sundress today. The weather might not be perfect, but you’d fit in more with the crowd if you dressed like a ‘lady’. Here on land, you had to conform. You had to act like a lady and wear pretty dresses to appease the male eye.
“Over here.” He said gruffly, slipping into the crowd, and you found yourself chasing after him.
He was taller than you, but still shorter than most men so you were having trouble seeing him in the crowd. The market was crowded as people tried to get the first batch of goods from each vendor. Low stalls held vendors of all kinds. From jewelry to fish and fine art.
You caught a glimpse of his blonde hair every now and then as he easily wove through the crowd. You finally caught up to him at a bait and tackle store. The place had the putrid smell of fish and salt. You scrunched up your nose at the intoxicating scent.
“Hey, I’m just going to wait outside.” You poked his arm and he gave you a stiff nod of acknowledgement.
You went to stand outside, enjoying watching the people rush by you. Everyone was in a hurry to be somewhere, but you weren’t. You were completely calm.
It all shattered when you spotted a familiar bar across the way. You could still see him leaning against the side, his arms crossed around his chest. You wanted to drown in the depths of his eyes again. You could have sworn you saw him, a twinkle in his eyes as he beckoned you closer. But before you could take the first step, the crowd rushed by and he was gone, just like the wind.
You rubbed your eyes, cursing. Now is not the time to be seeing ghosts. There was still that twinge of regret, of melancholy. I should have run away with him the first time he offered. Suddenly, someone bumped into you, flinging you into the rush of traffic. Your breath quickened as you found yourself pushed farther away. You planted your feet into the ground after a while, forcing the crowd to part around you.
“Y/N?” You whipped around to see a familiar face. It’s the soldier. What did you say? Sorry for kicking you in the balls? Shit, wait, he’s probably here to take you in. So of course you bolted.
“Y/N! Come back! You’re mother,” He squeezed past the people, huffing out words between breaths as you fled. “Is really,” He reached out for you. “Worried.” He finished finally, his hand grasping your arm tightly. You spun around.
“What’s your name, soldier?” You said fiercely, your tone like a commander to quell your shaking legs.
“Myung-Suk.” He answered quickly, dropping your arm like he’d been burned.
“Good, I’ll remember that.” You narrowed your eyes, trying not to give away the trembling of your hands and the fear in your heart. With freedom comes fear. And suddenly you weren’t so sure you wanted to live life on the run. Wouldn’t that get exhausting? To always have your guard up?
“Is there a problem?” Yoongi’s low drawl interrupted your thoughts.
Myung-Suk eyed the shorter man warily before shaking his head quickly. He backed off and ran. You turned and grabbed Yoongi’s arm, pulling him towards the docks.
“What’s the rush?” He quirked an eyebrow, but you ignored him.
Your breath was labored as you tried to control the panic flooding your system. He dug his heels in, effectively stopping you. Your chest rose and fell, eyes darting from the dock to Yoongi to the market. You were getting paranoid and you swore you kept seeing figures watching you. You swore you kept seeing him.
“That was Myung-Suk, a guard for my mother.” You said quickly. “They’re probably going to come for us next.” You continued, your breath getting shallower.
“Woah, woah, take a deep breath.” Yoongi held your arms and took a deep breath to show you. You followed his lead and soon enough your heart rate was calming.
“Listen, this isn’t the first time we’ve been on the run with a wanted person. We also are smart and strong enough not to get caught. Have some faith in us.” He smiled gently, gracing you with his gummy smile that put you at ease instantly.
“Alright, I see what you mean.” You murmured. He released your arms and you shivered as the wind blew in.
“We should probably get going.” The blonde haired man looked at the sky. “It might rain and Jin needs to start making that carrot soup for you.” His voice was gruff, as if he hadn’t used it in a while.
You had noticed that he seemed quiet, almost silent, when around the other crew members. You weren’t sure if there was a reason for this, as he seemed very observant and to have strong opinions of his crew; good opinions mostly, but he still never shared them. You studied his side profile as he focused on helping Jin row the boat.
He was handsome, quiet, a little too quiet for your tastes. But the silence was nice.
Tumblr media
“I should’ve known you were going to be trouble.” Jungkook tsked as Jin set the bowl in front of you.
“Now, now, captain, she hasn’t been nearly as much trouble as Jimin was.” Jin chided the younger man. Jimin flushed a bright pink and you sent him a sympathetic look.
“Yeah, but once again we’re all being forced to eat Jin’s carrot soup.” Taehyung sighed, picking up a spoon.
“Yah! You don’t have to eat it, Taehyung!” Jin shouted, causing the table to ripple with laughter. Taehyung’s ears burned as Jin continued the rant.
“Sheesh okay okay I’ll eat it.” Taehyung groaned and took a large spoonful to placate the older man. The others just pushed it around, their gazes moving to you, then Jin, then the soup.
You stared at the bowl before you. It looked harmless; a simple chicken broth and carrots floating around. You narrowed your eyes suspiciously.
“What did you put in here?” You asked.
“Nothing!” Jin cried, taking a big spoonful of soup and then coughing loudly. You turned back to the concoction. The room held their breath when you took a sip.
“Well?” Jungkook’s lips were twitching into a small smile.
It tasted earthy and the carrots added a weird texture. You moved it around your mouth before swallowing.
“Oh, it’s not too bad-” You started and then it hit you.
It felt like your mouth was on fire. You gagged, coughing and taking a huge gulp of water.
“Jin! What the hell did you put in here?!” You choked, fanning your reddening face. Jin huffed and looked away.
“I didn’t put anything in there.” He crossed his arms like a child.
“You obviously did! My mouth is on fire.” You gasped, finishing the water.
The crew chuckled at your red face. Namjoon, despite having acted so cold to you previously, let a smile slip onto his face. He had dimples that you thought were quite cute. You could feel the captain’s stare piercing your profile so you turned to face him, patting your cheeks in an attempt to cool them down. He had an odd look on his face, his eyes bouncing between you and Namjoon. Then he casually stood.
“Well, since that is over, I’ll see you nice and early for the last trial.” Jungkook dipped his head and promptly left the room.
You pressed your lips together, eyes trailing as he walked away. The group tensed as the door to the galley shut loudly. Then Taehyung started choking on his soup and the atmosphere returned to normal.
Tumblr media
It was too early to be dragged out of bed and all your limbs were sore from the hard bed in your quarters. The chilly wind made your hair hit your face like a whip. The clouds were still dark and the waves looked choppy. You leaned over the railing.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” You called over your shoulder. Jin peered over the side.
“Yeah, it’ll be a little chilly but I’m sure it’s fine.” He shouted back.
Jungkook was holding up a map and pointing out into the distance while muttering something to Namjoon. The first mate nodded, paying close attention to his counterpart.
“Jin, this might not be the right time to say it but-”
“Little lady, are you ready?” Jungkook barked, his boots thumping loudly against the boards. The words ‘I can’t actually swim very well’ died on your lips.
The captain was wearing a loose black top and tight black pants. He wore a black coat that fell to his ankles with golden buttons lining the sides. On his head was a velvet black hate that was embroidered with gold stitching. You caught yourself staring and glanced away.
“Uh...yeah.” You said quietly, giving a slight nod of your head.
He scooted you towards the plank.
“I said, are you ready?” His voice was loud against the wind.
“Yes!” You shouted.
“Louder.” He commanded.
“Yes, I am, Captain!” You turned to face him, shouting with all your might.
It sounded more like a scream and oh, how you wanted to scream. You wanted to scream at him to stop calling you little miss. You wanted to scream about your engagement, you wanted to scream until you couldn’t any longer.
As the wind swept away the words on your lips, there was a freedom to screaming and no one being around to hear. There was a freedom in knowing your loudest thoughts could still be yours and only yours. You took a step back and then hesitated, turning to see the drop below.
“Then go.” His voice was suddenly low in your ear and you knew he was right behind you.
“I don’t know-”
Then there was a hard shove on your back and you lost your footing.
You were falling, the wind whipping your hair out of its ponytail, obscuring your vision. All you could see were the faces of your crew members peering at you from the railing, but Jungkook’s smirk was imprinted in your mind.
The world rotated as you twisted in the air. Streaks of gray and inky blue. You gasped in a breath, only to lose it as you hit the water. The splash was tiny compared to the unrest of the sea.
You could feel yourself getting lost, sinking deeper, the cold seeping into your bones. You could be at peace, resting here. Who knew that such a simple thing, such as stepping off a plank, could give you such a catharsis. No, you need to go back up, breathe, and live. It was a soft hum in the back of your mind, growing bigger as you sunk deeper.
Then your eyes flew open to see a figure jumping into the water, their dark shadow passing over you. Only then did you want something to live for; for the adventures you were yet to have, for the people you had yet to meet. The shadow reached out for you and pulled you up, yanking you to the surface faster than you thought possible. You gasped for air, breaking the surface.
The captain’s furious face met your blurry vision. “You idiot, why didn’t you say you couldn’t swim?”
-
“Why isn’t she resurfacing?” Jungkook gripped the railing.
A few more moments passed and the crew looked at each other, worry evident. He was angry. Angry you didn’t tell him you couldn’t swim, angry he pushed you, angry he didn’t understand your limits.
You had looked so afraid in the last few moments. And he wasn’t one to usually care about pushing too far beyond limits or to really care about anyone. His crew came first and he couldn’t understand if you were a part of that crew yet. Someone inside, he considered you a part of the crew, but you still needed to do the trials, it was tradition. He was frustrated. Why am I feeling this way for some stuck up noble girl?
Scowling, he shrugged off his coat and rolled up his sleeves, revealing his strong forearms. He threw his coat over Jin’s shoulder, who was still watching the water with worry. The man jumped at the sudden action.
“Captain what are you-CAPTAIN!” Jin rushed forward to see Jungkook clasp his hands above his head and dive right into the frigid waters.

Day 4 - Branded
A caress. A sigh. A smile against the sheets.
Dean stretched out languorously among the clean blankets, his cheek rubbing against the fabric as he felt fingers running over his naked body. His smile widened discreetly as a curious forefinger went down into the curve of his back. With his eyes closed, he let out a second sigh of satisfaction and leaned a bit deeper into the mattress.
Finally, the hand pushed back some of the blankets on the back of his thighs and stopped in the hollow of his lower back, revealing the lower part of his bare body. The fingers redrew a thin white scar, at least three centimeters.
"This one?"
Dean hummed joyfully to the deep sound of Castiel’s voice, the syllables rolling down his throat to slide over his tongue. Dean materialized the mark of his skin in his mind.
"Shapeshifter. He threw me through a window. Four stitches." He replied softly.
And so the fingers resumed their exploration, their soft and volatile contact on his hips leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake. Dean was almost unable to move as he was relaxed, strokes more effective than any massage. No matter how much he had tasted human flesh against his body before, nothing was more fulfilling than a pure dose of intravenous love like the one he was high on right now. Dean let out a sound of contentment.
This hand — damn, delicious hand — as impertinent as ever, continued their path even lower. Dean felt Castiel straighten up slightly next to him to access his left calf. There, the fingers came to explore the strange hollow that was there, playing with the smooth and still reddish skin despite years of healing. Dean wasn’t used to people teasing that part of his body, the nerves sensitive under the skin.
"This one." And it was no longer a question, merely a thirst for curiosity that needed only to be quenched.
"Vampire." Dean whispered. He licked his lips nervously in memory of this fight. "He didn’t let go until I took his head off… I left a piece in it.”
Castiel let out a small "mmh" and Dean easily imagined his eyebrows knitting together imperceptibly, as he did when an insect flying around him began to irritate him, but he dared not chase him away.
After long minutes of silence and caresses, Castiel pressed the palm of his hand a little harder against Dean’s pelvis and he understood that he had to turn around. Slowly, his muscles awoke to allow him to rotate on his back, completely exposing his bare front. Without further preambles, the touching resumed, but this time Dean kept his eyes open and fixed on the angel’s profile. Everything was so quiet, out of time while Castiel recreated the world on his anatomy.
He came to cup his belly in the palm of his hand, following the trail of a wide gash. Dean saw Castiel pouting again.
"Tell me…" His lover asked, his voice a bit hoarse.
Dean took a breath, calm. Although he hated the reasons why these scars had ended up on his body in the first place, he had made peace with most of them. To say that he was totally comfortable with his body would nevertheless be a lie and admitting his modesty often triggered laughter. His previous conquests usually let out a sarcastic mockery if they noticed his shyness at the idea of making love all lights on, so Dean kept pretending.
Castiel, however, had never mocked. Quite the opposite, he had kissed and drawn each of his scars for hours until Dean was able to lie down as he was now, naked, exposed, and his heartbeats appeased in his chest.
"Angel…" Dean finally replied. He saw the dull anger in Castiel’s eyes again, like a mute storm, while the rest of his face remained as neutral. "I crossed paths with him when I was…" He licked his lips again." When the Mark had turned me into a demon? I won the fight…"
Both of them knew what these last words implied and Dean could not prevent a spike of anxiety from forming in his chest. He killed one of the angel’s brothers. However, Castiel nodded after a moment and leaned gently forward to trap the marked skin of his lips. Dean sighed and the caresses resumed.
The fingers stopped again on an irregularity, encircling his left pectoral, near his heart. Castiel frowned at the sight of the funny scar and Dean replied before he could ask the famous question, a laugh in the voice.
"Bike accident, I must have been 11 years old. I landed in a tree jumping off the motel roof." Castiel arched an eyebrow, halfway between admiration and disbelief, and Dean let out a laugh. "Sam was luckier, he landed in the pool as planned. But the following year, he broke his arm in exactly the same way and I had to take him to the hospital on what was left of his bike."
Castiel shook his head with amusement and Dean’s smile grew to the memory of his little brother contemplating the drawings he had drawn on his cast.
The time slowed down a little more as Castiel now moved to the wide hand-shaped burn on his shoulder. Although the years faded, the handprint was still visible on its body, shining slightly with variations of light. Dean turned his head to contemplate it before returning to Cas’s face, surprising the same tender look in his features.
"This one…" Castiel gently whispered, tracing the contours of the brand with adoration.
Dean breathed in, filling his lungs with love and pride. He carefully grabbed Castiel’s fingers before joining their two hands, covering his mark with the warm skin of his angel. Just as delicately, he attracted the rest of Castiel’s body to his own until they were pressed against each other, Dean kissing those lips tenderly that he knew by heart. After a moment, he broke contact to whisper:
"The beginning of the rest of my life."
Castiel smiled for the first time in several minutes and kissed him back, gripping his shoulder with more force. And while the sensations were awakening in his body, Dean swore to hearing his scars shouting that he belonged to only one being. Castiel could have marked him hundreds of times if he wished, but one thing was certain: his guardian angel was watching over him.

Finally a bit of tenderness and some Destiel! Hope you will like it :)

Confrontation
FFXIVWrite 2021 Day 23 Prompt Soul
Y’shtola strode up to the Occulus and G’raha could tell by the thin line of her mouth she had something to say.  Grateful his hood hid most of his features he said pleasantly, “Good evening, Master Matoya to what do I owe the pleasure.”
“Spare the empty platitudes Exarch!” she stated sharply, “Since Urianger is being tight lipped about it I am going to ask most likely the direct source.  Were you aware of the exact effect absorbing the Wardens’ Light would have on our friend,”
Once again he was grateful to the voluminous robe he wore that gave away none of his normal tells with his ears and tail and he said, “I was aware that there were inherent dangers in absorbing the Light but I had believed that the Blessing would have protected her and aided in its dispersion,”
“It has not,” the other Miqo’te stated flatly, “All of the Light from the previous Wardens is trapped within her aether.  I have seen it.  Exarch I do not believe she will be able to absorb the Kholusian Wardens Light without complications.  And I am damn sure you are aware of this.”
G’raha closed his eyes and stated, “I do not deny it was a concern that she would not be able to contain the Light of all four Wardens.  But rest assured measures are in place to prevent it from being a problem,”
Y’shtola gave him a skeptical look and asked sharply, “What sort of measures.”
Putting on a neutral face he responded, “I am not at liberty to disclose their nature but I promise you she will survive this.  Otherwise it will all be for naught,”
“Indeed for if she fails to contain the Light, and your measures fail you do realize you will be contending with a Light Warden that makes the others mere Sin Eaters in comparison when she turns.”
Closing his eyes again he stated, “I do, but the measures will not fail.  I know you find it difficult to trust me with all my secrecy but, please I beg you trust me in this.  Eirunn will survive this, I will not fail you in that.  We will beat back the Light and save both worlds.”
Y’shtola’s eyes narrowed and she studied him for a long time like that before she answered, “I will not deny it has worked so far and we have freed much of Norvandt from the Light’s Tyranny.  Very well, I will not press you further, but know one thing.”
The Sorceress then strode forward looking him squarely in the eye beneath the hood her pale eyes all but glowing in their intensity, “Should aught befall Eirunn, should she become a Light Warden you should pray to whatever deity you hold sacred she kills you before I get to you.”
With that she turned and left the Occulus the door closing silently behind her and the silence deafening.  Taking a shaky breath he stepped into the Umbilicus and cast his hood back leaning against the terminal within.
He knew Y’shtola was right, Eirunn’s aether was straining to contain the Light she had already absorbed.  His suppositions had been correct that had lead him to approach Urianger with his little ruse.
“I will have to absorb the Light and flee to the rift tis the only way,” he murmured to himself a lot calmer than he expected giving that affirmation.  He had thought he had been prepared before but he knew a small part of him feared that last act and had hoped it wouldn't come to it.  But now all fears were gone, Y’shtola’s sight had confirmed what he had suspected would happen and he would gladly give his life if it meant saving Eirunn’s, his friend, his inspiration.
“My love,” he finally confirmed to himself.  Taking several more breaths to calm himself he redrew his hood and strode out of the Occulus and made his way to the Pendants and the subsequent room he knew she was resting in.
At her door he found himself wracked with indecision, what was he going to say?  I can't tell her how I feel shed never allow me to do what needs to be done.  He was going to turn away when a muffled cry from inside and the all too familiar sound like shatter glass stopped him.  Without further hesitation he knocked on the door praying she would answer.

Dude your little fool me once and twice series just stabbed me I'm the feels like, dude I am legit crying. XD WE NEED SOME FLUFF IN THIS PIECE SO ITS UP TO ME TO REQUEST SOMETHING! (if you are willing to do it you don't have to just saying.) So can you do a request where the MC (Yuu) has had a stressful day after dealing with some bullies that she has been trying not to tell anyone about but Kalim and Jamil end up finding out. What will they do?
Ahh!! Thank you thank you for the ask! Of course I’m willing to do it!
Warnings: Bullying
Desert Flower
“Fgnaaaaaaa!!!”
Yuu was roughly torn from her ever enigmatic dreaming by a scratchy scream and a distinct flush of heat to her side.
Yelping through her disorientation, she pushed herself away from the source of the burning, rubbing her eyes to clear away the sleep induced fuzziness. “G-Grim! Hey, what’s wrong?!” She cried, hands hovering just above the cat-like creature who was writhing on the bed, blue flame encircling him.
“Grim! Wake up! You’re having a nightmare!” She took the monster into her arms, biting back a wince as her hands were scorched by the heat, fading after a second as Grim’s eyes snapped open.
“Yuu...! Yuu, he was going to eat me!” He sobbed, cuddling into her embrace.
“Who? What was happening in your dream?”
“It was Jamil’s shadow! He looked so hungry, like he was going to...”
Yuu wanted to laugh, but she smiled softly instead, smoothing out Grim’s fur and petting lightly over his ears, quelling his hysteria. “It wasn’t real. I thought you were a great hero! A hero’s not afraid of anything, right?” She tempted, playing with his small paws.
“Absolutely! I-I’m not afraid of some silly monster!” Grim agreed, taking Yuu’s bait. She was going to reply, when a loud rumbling promptly shut her down, making her laugh briskly. “...But I am scared of this appetite! I’m starving, let’s eat!” He cheered, throwing a curled paw up.
“Hmph, so brave...” She sighed, setting Grim down, “go on down. I’ll meet you there.”
“Okay~!”
Grim leapt off the bed, mumbling something Yuu couldn’t quite catch as he left, kicking the door shut behind him.
Giggling at her friend’s antics, the smile was quickly forgotten as her hands began to sting, sharp as first but easing as she relaxed the muscles. Peering down at the soft skin, she groaned at the cherry red sight, slightly swollen and puffy from the burns they suffered. “Guess I have to be even more careful than before... just until this heals up, that is.”
Yuu was cautious as she stood from the bed and fixed her uniform, brushing out her hair and changing her sleepwear. She hesitated briefly as she glanced herself over in the mirror above the forever unlit fireplace, cringing at her face.
It was apparent she hadn’t gotten enough sleep, as usual, even without Grim’s little interruption. Further still, perhaps unnoticeable by anyone besides her, a dark, defeated darkness twisted her lips in a frown, her bright eyes dimmed with an unnamed melancholy.
She knew the reason why. She knew the reason why she hesitated in every class, why she started eating less and less, why it was becoming difficult to look anyone in the eye.
Pushing the room door open silently, Yuu headed down the hall, flexing her hands slowly in front of her as she sucked in a sharp breath. “That sure looks painful, did the kitty do that to you?” Yuu screamed at the sudden intrusion, jumping back a few feet as she glared at the ghost.
“Do you absolutely need to do that?” She scolded, growling.
“What do you want me to do? Wear a bell and jingle everywhere I go?” The chubby ghost joked, laughing heartily at Yuu’s unimpressed expression. “My concern is real, y’know. I’m not sure you should leave today, especially if you’re going to be hounded by those bullies again.”
Yuu flinched, clenching her fist despite the screaming pain that followed. That one had been her accident.
Ever since arriving at NRC, Yuu was accutely aware of her misplacement, both because of her gender and because of her lack of magical abilities. As if the self doubt wasn’t enough, it wasn’t long before some of the students made the same realization, and used it against her in the worst ways. Tormenting her, they called her names, ridiculed her, broke her down inch by inch.
It wasn’t until she happened to stumble upon a certain pair of classmates that she found a way to cope. She couldn’t remember exactly how she met Kalim Al-Asim and Jamil Viper, but could vaguely recall bumping into the shorter during lunch, earning a snide remark from the vice and a carefree laugh from the head. From there, she found herself spending more and more time with the duo, eventually earning the trust and friendship from them, though it took a while to break down Jamil’s guard.
That was how she managed to hide her secret for so long. She’d met so many people, made so many friends, but none like Kalim and Jamil. She knew that they had a full plate as it was, but adding her problems to it? No way, she wanted to prove that she could handle herself, that she could stand up and face the problem head on.
So one night after a particularly cruel session of verbal abuse, she tucked Grim into bed, rushed to the rundown lounge, and cried. She was sure to be quiet, covering her mouth with her hands and suppressing her whimpers, but cried nonetheless, completely unaware of the ghosts that watched.
When they emerged from the shadows to comfort her, that was when Yuu spilled her troubles, pleading with them to keep it a secret.
“I’ll be fine! After all, I’ll just do what I always do; works like a charm!” Yuu waved him off, shrugging the memory away.
“...Yuu. It’s not healthy to hide these things. Maybe you should tell someone.” He suggested, brows creased.
“No! I can handle this on my own. Now, thank you for your time, but I should be getting to Grim and class. Bye!”
“Just be safe!” The ghost warned, fading back into the walls as Yuu hopped down the steps.
She didn’t respond as she caught Grim in the kitchen, shoveling tuna into his mouth as she laughed. The almost unbearable heat of hunger flooded her gut, but pressing a hand to her stomach and swallowing thickly, she pushed it away. Not now.
“Come on, Grim! I want to go meet Kalim and Jamil!” Yuu smiled, bending over as she placed her hands delicately on her knees.
“Fgna... go yourself, I’m busy.” Grim refused, licking out the rest of the can.
“U-Uh, alright! See you later!” Yuu stammered, feigning bliss as she headed out, crossing her arms defensively across her torso.
As she trudged down Main Street, she glanced around anxiously, heart skipping a beat as sweat beaded on her temples. It wasn’t often she was this nervous, only the times when she was utterly alone in the open. Her bullies never targetted her when she was with someone else, aware that she had a way of guarding herself with another person.
Yuu was climbing the steps to the school building when she noticed them; the four boys leaning against the doors. “Well, looky looky! Up bright and early for the day, birdie?” One of them crowed, making her cringe at the use of the distasteful nickname.
She could recognize them by the colors of their arm bands. Two were from Savanaclaw, one from Heartslabyul, and one from Pomefiore, each with their own way of ripping her self esteem to shreds. “Please leave me alone.” She clipped, keeping her gaze to the concrete.
“Bowing your head? Please, even Riddle could pull off a better act.” Heartslabyul sneered, kicking off the wall.
“No no, I think it suits her,” one of the Savanaclaw lackeys croned, “prey should know their place.”
“You’ll never be like us. You’re just a little girl, meant to serve and nothing more.” The other added.
“And with that face? She’d be lucky to find a man at all!” Pomefiore finished, drowning the staircase in wicked laughter. “Lose a few pounds and we’ll talk, sweetie!”
Yuu grabbed at the hem of her shirts, absorbing every comment, eyes unfocused and blurry. Bearing through the abuse yet again, she pushed through the boys now crowded around her, entering the building and shutting them out.
“It’s not true, it’s not true, it’s not true,” Yuu whispered to herself, covering her ears with her burnt hands as she followed the scent of breakfast to the cafeteria, pleasantly illuminated with the lantern light.
She hadn’t even taken a step inside when she heard the call, beckoning. “Yuu~! Over here!”
Yuu looked up, dropping her hands as she met the eternally smiling face of Kalim, arm above his head as he waved her over, Jamil pinching the bridge of his nose in embarrassment at the scene. Wiping her upset look off, she redrew a cheeky grin onto her glower, refilling her eyes with joy.
“Hey Kalim, Jamil! What’re you up to this morning?” She prompted, feeling a warmth build in her stomach.
“Eh, the usual. Breakfast.” Kalim responded, gesturing to his plate. “Jamil made it all, so it’s super healthy and delicious!”
“Ha, I’m sure it is!” Yuu nodded, revealing her pearly whites in a grin. It faltered as her gut grumbled, quietly enough to only be felt by her.
“Would you like some, Yuu? There’s plenty to go around.” Jamil offered, setting his silverware aside. “I’ll get a plate if you’d—“
“No thanks! I’m alright!” Yuu all too quickly deflected, digging her nails into her thighs.
“Hm? Are you certain? It wouldn’t be a bother.” Jamil pursued, Yuu feeling yet another hunger-caused groan arising in her torso.
“Yep—you know me! I’ll eat later, I’m not very hungry right now.” She lied.
“...If you insist.” Jamil conceded, resuming his meal.
The only thing ringing within Yuu’s ears was the hurtful smear on her body; she’d always believed she was beautiful, inside and out. It didn’t matter that she had her flaws, everyone did, she loved herself. Until someone took those flaws and paraded around like her feelings didn’t matter.
“So Yuu, what are you doing after school today?” Kalim asked, surfacing Yuu from her abyssal mind.
“Hm? Oh... nothing, I think. Why?” She played with her hands, and the feeling of aching soreness that occurred whenever she wiggled her fingers.
“Kalim and I have a freed schedule. I was curious as to know if you’d like to join us later, maybe for a board game or two?” Jamil smiled mischievously.
“Uh—yes! I’d love an excuse to see you two show off your rivalry!” Yuu joked, repressing her urge to eat.
“It’s settled then. We’ll come get you after class.”
“Yeah, and don’t be late! I’m so ready to kick Jamil’s ass in Mancala!”
“How many times must I defeat you in that game to drill it into your thick skull that I’m better than you?”
Kalim merely broke out into a fit of giggles, the joy rather infectious as Yuu joined in, even earning a small grin from Jamil at the absurd banter.
It was a blink before the bell rung, and as she parted from the oppositional duo, Yuu strongly regretted turning down the meal. Her stomach was knotted, groaning as it ate away at itself, sickeningly warm and unpleasant.
“Yuu! Wait for me! I’m not big enough to walk that fast!” Grim ushered behind her, panting as he ran on his short legs to catch up.
“Ah, Grim! Did you enjoy the rest of your food?”
“Obviously! There’s something just so enticing about fish, don’t you think?”
Yuu gave an awkward smile. “Uh, sure...” She lifted him into her arms, carrying him gingerly as to not disturb her burns, which were still hidden away from her animal-esque companion.
Taking a seat in her normal spot, Yuu felt the unmistakable sense of eyes trained on her, and spun around, looking for the source. When she found it, she recoiled, tilting her head downwards as if to hide her presence behind the curtain of hair that fell around her daintily beautiful face.
Two of her harassers sat a little ways behind her, glaring as they snickered, attentive to Yuu’s semi-vulnerable position. Still, with that fire breathing raccoon, they couldn’t do anything to her directly.
Yuu could barely focus on the class, with the combined forces of physical pain and mental distress working to keep her very preoccupied. Even reminders from Mr. Trein didn’t snap her from her internal stupor, though she knew her bullies were cruelly ridiculing her every time she received a clip from the teacher.
The worst part was, there was no escaping it. In every period, it seemed like the problem was chasing her. She couldn’t avoid those judgemental glowers, or the hushed lampooning that always managed to hit so close to home.
Like most other days, Yuu skipped lunch, her stomach now having gone quiet thanks to the use of her continued starvation. She sat with Grim, joking lightly as she watched him eat, wishing she could do the same without the guilty thought of ruining her body.
And, through hour after hour, the school day ended with a piercing ring, all students being dismissed with an armful of homework and an array of deadlines, Yuu included. “I’m beat! I just want to go home!” Grim cried, stretching. He started to walk away, but stopped when Yuu didn’t follow. “Coming?”
“Uh, n-not today! Kalim and Jamil are going to walk me over to their dorm.” Yuu explained, leaning against the doorframe. “You could come with us, if you wanted.”
“And sit around, watching you do God-knows-what? No thanks. I’m heading back to the safety of my kitchen.” He refused, uninterested.
“Oh wait! Then... could you take these with you?” She held out her homework, significantly less than the average student thanks to her lack of magical prowess, but still enough to take up a good chunk of her free time.
“Eh? Why can’t you do it yourself?”
“Because I want to be here when Kalim and Jamil show up! And besides, the Great Grim can handle such a little job, right?”
“Man, I hate when you use that as you excuse...” Grim sighed, taking the papers, “but of course I can! Now I’ll be off. See ya later, Yuu!” He hopped off, leaving Yuu in the dead silence.
The feeling from earlier that day returned, hands becoming clammy, heart rate accelerating, and limbs becoming stiff as Yuu stood. She despised being alone, especially because she knew the situation she was in, but her stubbornness turned away any thought of asking for help. She couldn’t do that, and let her friends believe she was too weak to face her own problems!
She wasn’t sure how long she’d been standing outside that classroom, but as soon as those brawny figures emerged from thr shadows, she wished for nothing more than to dart into it. Fear kept her paralyzed, even as they trapped her in a circle, back preser to the wall. “All alone? Do you never learn from your mistakes? How dense can you be?”
“Please, stop. Haven’t you done enough?!” Yuu fought, never once making eye contact.
“Done enough? You’re lucky we’ve been this kind to you!” One of them laughed, earning grunts from the rest.
“Kind? You think calling me names and criticizing me is kind?” She didn’t know where this confidence came from, but she felt her adrenaline spike because of it.
She was finally going to stand up for herself.
<————>
“Ahh! I hope Yuu’s okay! I sure got an earful from Mr. Crewel...” Kalim worried, rubbing the back of his head.
“Only because your such a dunce,” Jamil rolled his eyes, “I’m sure she’s fine. She’s been a little... off as of late, but we’ll sort that out when we’re back at the dorms.”
“I know, I know... ugh, I’m going to go on ahead! I need to apologize!” Kalim decided, jogging to meet up with Yuu.
He’d screwed up a potion in class, earning a huge mess to clean and a lecture from Mr. Crewel as a reward, Jamil staying behind to help despite Kalim’s protests against it.
Rounding the corner, Kalim froze midstep, darting behind the wall once again to listen in on the event he stumbled upon.
Yuu stood with her back to the wall, face hidden in her hands as a group of four surrounded her, laughing. “No more spunk? I thought you wanted to fight back, birdie!”
Yuu didn’t respond as she sobbed, a pitiful sound that cracked the dorm leader’s heart into pieces.
Kalim quickly assessed the situation, identifying the four boys. He was more than aware of the fact that if he charged straight in, a fight would occur, and he was outmatched. The best thing he could do was get help.
Spinning on his heel with guilt encumbering his steps, he silently darted away, racing back to Jamil. “J-Jamil! Yuu needs help!” Kalim panted, pointing to down the hall.
The usually stoic vice flinched, eyes widening as he stumbled back a step. “What do you mean?” He asked hurriedly.
“Yuu, she’s—just get down there and keep them busy! I’m going to get Headmaster Crowley!”
“Got it! Be quick!” Jamil nodded, rushing down the corridor, silently forming a plan. He didn’t know who “they” were, or how many he was facing, but he knew he had a not so secret weapon he could use if worse comes to worse.
Darting out from the end of the hall, Jamil was almost half convinced that he was going to see nothing, but was proven sorely wrong when he realized the position Yuu was in.
“Just leave me alone!” She screamed, trying to swat away the enclosing boys around her.
“Oh, the gusto! Think you can hit back now?” A Savanaclaw flunkey grabbed Yuu’s hand roughly, making her cry out.
Like a lightning bolt, Jamil lurched forward, moving with an unmatched agility as he grabbed the unsuspecting student’s shirt, yanking him away as he protectively held Yuu, her face buried in his chest as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“Just what do you think you’re doing?” He growled lowly, eyes clouded with a dark rage.
<————>
Yuu wasn’t sure where it went wrong.
One minute she had the confidence to face her foes, the next, tears were streaming down her rosy cheeks as she hid behind her hands.
Just after the bully roughly seized her hand, her burns sending stabbing agony down her arms, she was suddenly pressed close to someone’s chest, their grip tight enough to show their anger.
“Just what do you think you’re doing?” She recognized that voice, and the animosity it was thick with.
“So the birdie really did get help! Took long enough.”
“You’ll do well to refrain from speaking like that,” Jamil warned, a hand snaking into Yuu’s hair, “lest you wish for your own defeat.”
“Big talk. What’s someone so scrawny like you going to do anyways? Hiss at me, Viper?”
“Yuu, get behind me and cover your eyes,” Jamil whispered, releasing his grip on her. She did as she was told, though trembling slightly.
“You four worms will fall to your knees and bow to me, your master. Snake Whisper.” Yuu listened to the sultry tone of Jamil’s voice, cognizant of the sheer power his unique magic carried.
The sound of grunts and bodies hitting the floor echoed in the tall corridors, and Jamil turned around, practically crushing Yuu in a warm embrace. “Are you alright? Did they hurt you?”
“J-Jamil... I—“ Yuu silenced herself with a hiccup, wrapping her arms around Jamil’s bigger frame, who responded by running a hand through her hair gently, shushing her cries.
“Yuu, Jamil!” She looked over Jamil’s shoulder, seeing Kalim rushing towards her, Crowley following close behind. “Hey, are you okay?!” He demanded, placing a hand on her shoulder as she broke away from Jamil.
“N-Not really...” She was finally truthful, wiping away a new wave of tears.
“Excuse me. What happened here?” Crowley snapped, arms crossed as he glared through his mask.
“I believe I may know. Kalim, please take Yuu back to Scarabia, I’ll meet you there when I’m finished taking care of this.” Yuu cringed at the end, imgination running wild at the implications.
“Roger that. See you.” Kalim too seriously answered. He extended his hand to Yuu, who hesitantly shook her hear. “What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” Kalim asked, red eyes brimmed with unnatural worry as they walked farther and farther from the four boys.
“My hands...” Yuu trailed off, revealing her burns for the first time that day. Kalim stopped, taking her wrists as opposed to her hands to avoid agitating the sensitive area. His skin felt smooth and cool, somewhat calming her heartbeat.
“Did they do this to you?”
“No, I did. It was an accident this morning.” Yuu explained quietly, keeping her head low.
“Hey,” Kalim said softly. He let go of her wrists, hooking a finger under her chin to tilt her head up. “You’re safe now. Come on, let’s get those burns healed.”
“Alright...”
<————>
Snuggling into the plush pillows at her back, Yuu sipped from her tea in the Scarabia lounge, lit by a few unscented candles, courtesy of Kalim.
It was a sweet, minty flavor that warmed her core, tears dried for the time being as she drank, wincing every so often at the enhanced sting in her palms.
“Can I see your hands, Yuu?” Kalim asked, sitting on his knees before her, a small container of something placed gingerly on the floor.
“Sure,” she nodded, setting her cup down as she exposed them to him. She sucked in a breath, they looked so much worse than that morning. Candy red and splotchy, it was inevitable that they’d crack and blister eventually.
Twisting open the cap, Yuu eyed the cloudy cream within, watching intently as Kalim dipped his fingers in, scooping out a little and smearing it on her palms, to which she smiled as the pain was relieved to some of extent. “Aloe vera. Jamil would always put it on my skin whenever I got burned.” Kalim revealed, grinning as he capped the container.
Yuu hummed, flexing her hands as Kalim watched, silently debating. “Yuu... how long have they been hurting you?” He said at last, fisting the floor.
“T-They... since before I met you.”
Kalim gasped. “What? Why didn’t you talk to me—or Jamil?! We would’ve helped you! We could’ve—“
“I didn’t want to seem weak!” Yuu shouted, silencing Kalim. “I wanted to show you I could handle myself... that I can be strong, like you guys! That I... that I...” She sniffled, using the back of her hands to block the tears that now threatened to fall.
“Oh, Yuu...” Kalim softened, scooting so close that their knees touched. He pried her arms away all too easily, threading his larger hands in the softness of her hair as his palms laid over her cheeks, wet with water. “I promise, I promise, I’d never see you like that. Never. It doesn’t matter if it’s daytime, noon, or night, always rely on me. I’m here, Jamil is here, and we care about you so, so much.”
At that, Yuu openly cried, grabbing onto his sleeves despite the fresh cream painted over her flesh. Kalim pressed his forehead to hers, using his thumbs to wipe away the glistening beads, hushing her sobs tenderly.
Kalim’s ears perked up as he heard approaching footsteps, looking over his shoulders to see Jamil, knuckles reddened as his glare morphed into a look of pity. Extending an arm, Kalim invited him over silently, to which he accepted.
Yuu’s eyes opened as she sensed someone kneel beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders like before. “They told me everything. I gave them what they deserved, and rest assured, each of thise imbeciles will be facing due punishment.” Jamil said, bruised knuckles a testimony.
“What if... What if they were right?” Yuu asked, voice cracking terribly.
“What?” The two asked in unison.
“All those things they called me... what if they were right? I really am just an incompetent waste, I should just go back to where I came from!” She wailed, Kalim and Jamil sharing beyond surprised gapes.
Kalim hesitated, opening and closing his mouth, unable to form coherent words. So Jamil did it for him. “Yuu, Yuu no. No, I can’t explain how wrong you are. Do you know how much you are loved in this school?” He asked, barely whispering.
“I... am?”
“Yes, of course you are! I’d miss you so much, everyone would!” Kalim admitted, looking to Jamil.
“But why? What do you see in... me?” Yuu continued doubtfully.
“Hm, well how about this for starters,” Jamil looked to Kalim, both of them sharing the same idea, “maybe because you’re funny, and can make me smile even when I’m frustrated.”
“Or because you’re kind, and always willing to lend a hand to someone that needs help,” Kalim followed, sliding a hand into Yuu’s.
“You’re gorgeous, like the sun, radiant and breathtaking.” Jamil ran a hand through a stray lock of hair, tucking it behind her ear.
“And you’re happy, just a bundle of laughter and smiles! You go along with all my crazy ideas, and I have so much fun with you!” Kalim finished, booping Yuu’s nose and making her giggle.
“You’re perfect, Yuu. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says.” Jamil smiled so genuinely, eyes squeezing shut.
“You’re a perfect desert flower, impeccable and extraordinary.”
Yuu covered her mouth as a new kind of tear streamed down her face, ones that spoke her gratitude rather than her sorrow. She laughed, twinkly and unfiltered, throwing her arms around Jamil and Kalim, pulling them into a bone crushing hug.
She didn’t say anything, just locked them in her embrace as she laughed and laughed, mixing with the sounds of Kalim and Jamil’s.
Swathed in the mingling warmth of her two best friends, Yuu’s chest was feather light for the first time in a long while, every insult and wound forgotten thanks to the sincerity poured into the boys’ speech.
She believed things could get better. She had faith, and now had her friends to anchor that faith.
Yuu beamed, as beautiful as a desert flower.
Oh boy, I may have gone a little overboard with this.
This was a wonderful prompt, I had so much fun with it! Thanks to @sanata101 for my first request! I hope you enjoyed!!
Stay lovely!
