Final (???) Neopets NFT update
(Previous posts: first, second, third, fourth)
Alright so the minting period for the NFTs has been over for like two weeks. In the end, 4,224 NFTs were produced out of the 4,533 tokens sold (which includes publicly-sold tokens and the 500 meant for giveaways/staff).
Reminder that this was out of 10,000 tokens available to the public. Reminder reminder that when the NFTs were originally announced it was stated that 20,000 would be available and it was halved for reasons that remain unknown.
Inevitably some people missed the minting window and they are Not Happy! I present to you a mere fraction of the salt, courtesy of various people on the r/Neopets Discord server.
People are demanding SOME kind of compensation/refunds, so finally...
On the one hand, it sucks to lose hundreds of dollars. On the other, you should really read the fine print if you’re gonna throw hundreds of dollars at something. Those of us on the r/Neopets server frequently brought up the November 18th deadline and we all knew it - when the people who hate a project know more about it than the people who support it, that’s... something.
Also hey remember when someone made 100 more tokens out of thin air?
This conveniently happened not long after it was pointed out in the Metaverse server.
We finally got an answer back from ‘the team’ (whoever the fuck they are):

Now I don’t like to make outright assumptions, but frankly given the shadiness of this entire project, I would not put it past the NMC team to be doing just this, lmao. The fact that we (the actual Neopets community) discovered this, and not the NFTbros praising the blockchain for being ‘permanent’ and ‘uneditable’ and public, is yet Another Something. Bitches really thought they could fuck around and that we wouldn’t notice.
People are also now selling their NFTs on Solana’s market, and most people appear to be selling at a loss.
... And then you get these people who are either on crack or trying to money launder.
There is, apparently, a site that ranks the ‘rarity’ of all the NFTs based on what traits they have and also puts a value on them. Except that’s no guarantee an NFT will sell at its ‘valued’ price but we all know how delusional NFTbros are.
So between the anger at unredeemed tokens, the pathetic number sold, and the sad secondary market, any reasonable person would say this project was a flop.
Enter the NetDragon press release (reminder that ND owns Jumpstart, who owns Neopets)
Like okay I know press releases are meant to make your company look good but good LORD.
They also claim the project was met with strong interest from the Neopets community which is just a big fat fucking lie and a slap in the face to those of us who actually play the damn game. They also touched on plans to further invest in metaverse/NFT-related projects (though don’t mention anything related to Neopets specifically) which is also Not Fucking Great.
On another note, we at the r/Neopets server apparently have a ‘community’ NFT.
Some people understandably have mixed feelings about this, but personally? I think it’s kind of hilarious. Will having our ‘own’ NFT really mean anything in this project? Who knows, but I think it’s better to do what we can in the unlikely event an actual Neopets Metaverse game is made.
The conclusion to this saga appears to have reached a (temporary?) end with this new announcement from the Neopets Metaverse server.
So any further developments are, essentially, paywalled (unless the person who officially owns ‘our’ NFT decides to connect a wallet and shit, but I don’t think that’s something we’re going to demand of them if they don’t want to :P)
HOWEVER..........
People have recently discovered this Twitter account, which is... interesting.
This twitter account is several months older than the ‘official’ Neopets Metaverse one. It apparently has no official connection to Neopets or the Neopets Metaverse Collection, yet their website includes a ton of links related to the NMC, and they’ve retweeted quite a lot from the actual Neopets Metaverse twitter. They also have a different Discord server, which has a whopping... -checks notes- 4 members.
No one quite knows what to make of this. There are a couple of ‘retro’ Neopets sites (based on the pre-2007 overhaul of the site called ‘the conversion’) that Neopets tolerates the existence of since they aren’t for-profit, so this thing might be in that same category. But if ‘metaverse’ is going to continue becoming synonymous with blockchains and NFTs, these guys are going to get DMCA’d the second they try to get involved with crypto and actual money. What they were doing fucking around in late 2020-most of 2021 is anyone’s guess.
So it seems for now that the Neopets NFT saga is over and boy has it been A Ride. Whatever happens with the Metaverse, I just hope the Neopets brand can recover from this and that the site doesn’t get killed off by Jumpstart and Netdragon within the next couple of years. :,)

Hello tf community, it has come to my attention that Tara Strong (yes, THE Tara Strong that voice your favorite characters here), decided to direct a quote on unquote “environment friendly” nft movie called ornamental.
As you know, we (the community), hated nfts to the core due to the reasons I’ll be listing in the following (for the people in the back):

Nfts stand for Non-Fundible Token, a type of cryptocurrency which are files you, only you, can claimed ownership for and sell for a high price like art galleries (please excuse for my crappy understanding, I kinda learned the basics of nfts).
They’re used in money laundering, tax evasion, and investment frauds (essentially scams on steroids).
Causes computers to overheat (nfts are a type of cryptocurrency relying on blockchains), releases huge carbon gas emissions and it’s bad for the earth.
Since they rely on blockchains for security reasons, there are claims that they move to other digital ecosystems (that’s a bit sketchy there).
Low ass quality jped
The sole purpose for them is to create artificial scarcity of artworks to boost its value, however, nfts had zero value in the eyes of artists. If you are an artist (especially digital artists), the next line will relate the hatred I had for nfts.
For whatever fucking reason, asshats of the nft community (yes they had a community) stole artworks from artists who made said artworks for their own profit (at ridiculously high prices). Scams and environmental issues are bad enough, stealing artwork that isn’t yours, turned into a stupid low quality files that you claimed ‘ownership’ for and attempted to sell it is where I draw the line.
That is degraded for the artists who work hard on their crafts, wasting our time, sleep, sweat, and tears on, and then nfts came along and stole it for their selfish gains (leaving us empty handed, filthy parasites).
Especially pissed at them for literally stealing artworks from dead artists, yes you read this correctly, DEAD ARTISTS! (Who the fuck are you and how dare you steal, claim ownership, and selling artworks from the dead! Where is your decency? Are you even human anymore!?)

I don’t know the experience of having my art stolen and sold for a shitty quality image, and I’m sorry for those who are affected by it. I give my condolences to you and wishing you the best to reclaim what is yours, we won’t stand this kind of thievery.
I was brought aware of this by Hero Hei on YouTube today, and I wanted to give him the credit for it (and in the video there was a tweet listing the three major issues nfts have, it’s way more digestible than mine).

Tara in her part (and those participating in the dumb movie) made a bad move like other companies, and they get the backlash they deserved. Somehow in some way, Joel Cassady (whoever he is) is delusional to say the least…
Tara, you may voiced characters that bring us joy, what you are doing now is inexcusable. Cancel the bullshit movie, and never pull this shit ever again. My heart was shattered once, and I cannot allow this to happen again.
People, let’s gather around and as a uncontrollable force of nature, pressure her and participants until they could not take the heat. Make a reminder to them that we don’t tolerate nfts. At all.

My Honest Take on Hate (feat Scott Cawthon) featuring poppy playtime
Oops, calm down if you came to the blog curse me and disagree and say "it's not a game case =/= devs" if you know I'll ignore your opinion it's a case of devs =/= game so sit there and I'll tell you some things to discover.
First I'll say that when you see the video from my Brazilian YouTube Core about the poppy playtime controversies whoever wants to see it just look it up but if you don't understand Portuguese it's ok I'll say what I thought was cool and I pointed out and agree with him.
Venge vs poppy playtime
I confess that I didn't hear about this game but what made Core disappointed with the creator of Venge made me also feel rancid about him because when a YouTube made the video about Venge being "underrated" and that "none" Let's play played his game because in case the creator doesn't see or delve well into his research because core that is a big youtube br played, other youtube not so big with verified played either spanish, english etc ie the guy was just wanting big youtubes to play his game sorry in offend you creator of Venge you are a badass don't come that you helped all the curation of the video and such and agree that your game was not successful and was underrated too much so how tattletail was that I'm still waiting for a continuation of it and other games being released in the same style ah my go chip.
Devs vs Russian fandubs
It was in this bullshit that the thing started to get worse yes they were assholes with him just because of that damn president attacked Ukraine while Russian citizens ant Pudin doesn't support and agree with them apologize would have solved it and end of conversation but I think most that is massacred, the devs wouldn't care so much about it, right.
N*FTs and "Evidence" of Employee Abuse
Started with N*fts they canceled and apologized, the reason I not only hate nft is not because of art theft and selling (which actually has been around for a long time to this day I don't understand why general woke up now with this) but because it is made of cryptocurrencies that in case you don't know it ends up with the environment and this affects our nature this is more important than any rough png monkey, this one I'm going to apologize to the devs for the mistakes they made but the people still believe that and kick Hater until today and you know who did the same thing and the people ignored at the time yes our "dear" Scott Cawthon creator of FNAF did it I confess that she some didn't know because it was in 2020 when he wanted to announce the nfts in the funkopop company and then when he saw it the sour lunch box when fans found out about it he said cancel and look that all this was ready but as he canceled it didn't happen that's guess what the public did they forgave Scott and put the fuck phrase "I understand Scott" that was of m and it ends and calms down that later I talk about it with Scott. Speaking of a comment from an "alleged" employee that I believe is not real for the following reasons, first there are no screenshots and evidence that say that devs treat their employees badly this can only be confirmed with evidence and images and not a comment from a person people are going to stop being stupid if you want to hate guys more so go deeper and compare what is fake or real is careful with false accusations because the internet is full of bad character people who like to fuck with everything.
Conclusion
For all the beautiful bullshit and intrigue I'm not going to apologize to the creators yet, if they came with a sincere apology for the Russian guy then it'll be fine but being the fandom doesn't know how to collaborate then it won't be okay on both sides think about it before talking nonsense to the little blue bird that I'm connected that he won't stop recommending the people's nonsense and coming back to Scott's subject I got more furious when I saw that he donated ant lgbtqs laws of politics lgbtphobic yes my lords and ladies o Scott Cawthon I give laws against the lgbt community and trans people and you know what the community did? What did Sim put an "I understand Scott" yes my gentlemen the community saw it and didn't speak often and if you didn't know then know that this was a disrespectful attitude and that makes him that intolerant Christian that we know and a horrible mention of his troubled artists pinkpills and ladyfiszi who are still working to do drawing and need to be fired right now, while the donkeys are doing thrends and post without salt of "things better than PP" and the fools who disagree with people who still prefer to support the game of than the creators, my conclusion of all is that when chapter 2 releases and shut the people up for a bit and mind your own business and leave the other side that supports the game alone, thank you so much for reading this far.
