Hollyflower x Featherstorm or Hazeltail x Cinderheart
I forgot Hollyflower was an adult when Yellowkit is in the nursery— I just remembered that they were both older since Yellowfang is implied very old by into the wild and so is Hollyflower in similar time books. It’s been a hot second since I read Yellowfang’s secret. Warriors timeline is wacky

Hollyflower! She is a Shadowclan cat that appears in starclan a couple times in the Omen of the Stars arc, and has more characterization in supplementary Shadowclan books. She is already a warrior when Yellowkit is in the nursery, but becomes friendly when Yellowfang is a warrior despite being notably older. They have a small snowball fight while on a patrol and a thoughtful conversation about kittypets in Yellowfang's secret. She is curious about other cats and clans maybe even to a gossip degree, but seems more peaceful than a lot of her clanmates. She is mother to Blackstar Fernshade and Flintfang, and mentor to Newtspeck.

Leaders Lives: Blackstar
Picked a random Leader for the first edition of this. Going to detail who gives Blackstar his 9 Lives, how he loses them and in what order.
Blackstar is actually a unique case. He does NOT get 9 lives all at once. Starclan doesn't trust him enough, and makes him work for them, which he does.
His first life gained is from Stonefur, his victim. Stonefur gives him a life for Hard Work. Good luck, Blackstar. You're going to need it. Blackstar is warned that if he does not work hard, he and his beloved Clan will fall. He gets the life right after The Darkest Hour.
His second is from Blizzardwing, his angry, regret filled father. He doesn't want to be connected with the cat who made him so miserable, but he knows he has to take it, for Shadowclan. The life is Acceptance. He gets it before The New Prophecy, after Firestar's Quest.
The third is a life for Perspective, from Badgerfang. He also gets this life at the same time as Blizzardwing's. These two lives will be a Bonus Scene for Midnight.
The fourth life is from Hollyflower. While Blackstar has a complicated relationship with his mother, and wishes more than anything that she and Blizzardwing had just walked away from each other, he was always closer with his mother. The life she gives is for Compassion. He gains it during Moonrise, right after having lost one of the few lives he has from a poisoned frog. (Sorry for mixing up you and Fernshade!)
Lives five and six are from Swampkit and Yellowfang. Swampkit gives him a life for Judgement, and Yellowfang gives him a life for Trust. He gains the lives at the beginning of Sunset, after seeing Onestar get his 9 from the Moonpool. During the end of Sunset though, he will lose another.
After the events of Leafpool's Wish but before The Sight, he gets 2 more! The first being his old buddy... Brokenkit. When Brokentail died, his soul split in 2. Being the living embodiment of a curse meant that his life was changed before his great grandmother had breath in her lungs. Starclan, as an apology for the torment that Brokenstar's mind gave him due to his cursed birth, allow a different version, the "What could have been" Brokenkit, who would have been named Flamekit after Silverflame and died at 5 moons old. Brokenkit/Flamekit gives Blackstar his seventh life, for Unity.
His eight life after the kitten bounds away to his mom is from Nightstar, who gives him a life for Loyalty. These 2 lives, Unity and Loyalty, would seem a bit at odds to a younger Blackstar. But with his age has come genuine wisdom, he knows he needs to both stand with the other Clans, and do what is best for his cats.
The final life does not come from Shadowstar, but rather, from Sun Shadow. The life is for something that Sun Shadow claims Blackstar "doesn't need any help with". It's Leadership. He gains this life during the end of The Sight, with Jaypaw watching from afar.
As for order lost and how:
Blizzardwing - Acceptance - Hit by a tree branch just days before the events of Midnight.
Badgerfang - Perspective - Poisoned frog in Moonrise, which makes him go to the Moonstone for guidance and gets him a life from Fernshade.
Hollyflower - Compassion - The Fox Trap during Sunset takes this life, soon after he got it too. This is the other half of the Blood Will Spill Blood Prophecy, with Tigerstar's sister Mistfang getting him in a trap beside Firestar.
Yellowfang - Trust - A kidney infection that would not respond to any treatments during Dark River.
Brokenkit/Flamekit - Unity - Infected wounds from The Eclipse Battle. Unity was truly shown here, dying from rightfully defending Thunderclan.
Nightstar - Loyalty - Smoke inhalation during The Fire in Long Shadows. He dies saving his former mate, Tallpoppy.
Swampkit - Judgement - Dehydration during The Fourth Apprentice. This one was brutal.
Sun Shadow - Leadership - Snake bite during Sign of The Moon, not venomous, but it did get an artery. He gets a sick-ass scar from it on his neck though!
Stonefur - Hard Work - In a twist of fate, Blackstar is murdered by Redwillow during the Great Battle.

You know what relationship should have been more developed?
Brokenstar and Blackstar.
As funny as I found (along with a lot of people) Blackstar's reasoning for being so devoted to him, which was that he's a dumbass, I kinda fail to see any interesting thing about it beyond the hilarity.
We see some hints of why he was chosen as Brokenstar's deputy in Blackstar's novel (at least I believe so), which is that they connected as an apprentice/kit over their parentage and how others treat them for it. It's not exactly obvious and I could definitely be looking into it, but I like the thought that that was there, at least a little bit--and at least on Broken's part.
What if the reason Blackstar followed Brokenstar so intently wasn't just because Brokenstar was leader? This idea isn't fully formed or even partially formed, it's just me thinking out loud.
Maybe he became closer to Brokenkit than his littermates, because he knew the secret of who his father was, and he couldn't tell them. So for one he chooses to stay away from them because he knows something about their family that's so important but can't, won't, tell them, and for another because Brokenkit understands.
Tumblr media
Brokenkit of course didn't know who his true mother was, but there were rumours that he was Foxheart's kit, a cat in the Clan who didn't want to raise him. If they didn't believe that, they believed he was half-kittypet or half-rogue, exactly what they also called Blackpaw for the same reasons.
Both Flintpaw and Fernpaw make arguments that "it doesn't matter" so long as they're great warriors, which frustrates Blackpaw.
It's not just that Brokenkit understands what it's like to be seen as an outsider and teased about his blood, because obviously his littermates do too. But as said in the book, maybe Brokenkit is the only one who understood how he felt.
He doesn't say "it doesn't matter because we'll be great warriors" he says "it doesn't matter because you can make yourself better than them."
And you know what? Maybe Blackpaw wanted to.
He was young and probably as impulsive as the usual apprentice, he was teased often by his peers and called an outsider. On top of that, his father was a cheater who couldn't call himself their dad because of that, and their mother would be shamed--and he had to keep that secret since he was young.
So maybe he didn't want to "be the bigger cat" and move on, maybe he wanted to act out. Maybe he wanted them to hurt. And the only one who agreed with that idea, and in that sense, connected with a deep, emotional part of Blackpaw, was Broken.
Maybe they would fight back together, and when they got in trouble, they would scheme together pranks that wouldn't trace back to them so easily.
Blackpaw was filled with mixed, awful emotions, and they all came out as anger. Not only did Brokenkit/paw--even if he was younger--feed that part of him, but he said that it was good. That it was right.
But don't worry folks, he can still make Blackstar an idiot.
Because he just could not admit to those flaws.
He was still close-ish with his littermates, at least on the outside, but when they would talk about working hard to prove themselves or would have nice talks with the other apprentices that had teased them, he would avoid them because he can't be wrong. They would make sense, they would sound right, but they couldn't be because that would mean that he had been wrong for moons, that he had set up mean pranks and clawed denmates and suffered punishments for those things for no good reason.
No, it had to be because they didn't understand. His littermates, the bullies, his mentor, all of them. The only one that understood was Broken.
The only one who understood why he did what he did, why he acted the way he acted, was Broken. And by extension, the only one who saw through his exterior and actually saw HIM, was Broken.
Brokenstar couldn't have been a monster. He couldn't have been a heartless beast. Because if he did, Blackfoot would have been wrong for all the 'righteous' things he did, all the sins he had committed.
Worse, it would mean that the cat he loved the most, the cat he thought of as a brother (or mate depending on how you wanna look at it) never cared for him at all.

This might be a very unpopular opinion, and this would be a long confession, but honestly, i just wanted to get this out of my chest.
I freaking hate Hollyflower's guts(Blackstar's mom, if you don't know), and it's just a very specific reason.
But first, let's just set something first, i really hate cats that cheated, in special Appledusk(while that doesn't justify his death, of course), for how little consequence his actions had, and that he still had the balls, to call his and Mapleshade's kits mistakes in her face, with Reedshine there to give him support, while i dispise Mapleshade, i dispise Appledusk even more, i really felt sorry for Reedshine when the whole reveal and her husband's death happened, principally when her life was almost ended, because of Appledusk cheating.
But returning to Hollyflower, beside the cheating with Blizzardwing(a freaking coward), i really dislike how she comes to Lizardstrip, a cat who really disliked kits, to say that she should be happy to have kits and blah blah, Lizardstripe that was very hated by the book, for making the "sin" of not wanting kits, and while i hate the way she treated Brokenkit, can you blame her? Raggedstar forced his son into her, saying that this is a "honour" to nurse his son, and after nursing him, she literally disapear for the whole book.
And while all that, there was Hollyflower, saying that she should happy and all that, she says that but she cheated with a cat who already had a family, who could get totally destroyed if a word of the cheating got around.
PS: English is not my first language, and if i missremember something, feel free to correct me, it's just, i really dispise cats that cheated and are treated as saints, the victim of the situation that themselves created.

Hollyflower
i actually really like this gal. i think she's super interesting. i made made her some kind of snowshoe to go with Blackstar being a point kitty. i've joked about it before, but i rly like the idea of Hollyflower seeing her white kit and naming him Blackstar, thinking "damn, hope he gets darker with age like me, or this is gonna b akward". i also gave her spiky holly like markings to match her name, and a polydactyl paw like Blackstar
she was one of the cats on the shadowclan patrol who rescued baby Tigerstar. i think she died before he took over, but could u imagine her reaction to it? i wonder if she ever regrets her decision in starclan. she also lived through all that Brokenstar bs. too many evil brown tabbies in her life lmao.
then there's of course the fact she had an affair w Blizzardwing. and then she later befriends Blizzardwing's mate Featherstorm, which is crazy. i wonder if she ever told her. like, what a interesting dynamic either way. i wonder if they started to bond after Blizzardwing died or somthing. yellowfang's secret- exile from shaodwclan is such a good time period for bg cats. so much going on!

Idk if my shadowclan ask went in, it was really long.
But for simplicity’s sake
How’s the Dawncloud and Finchflight situation?
Is Blizzardwing still the father of Hollyflower and Featherstorm’ kits?
Who has Marigoldkit and Mintkit? Can they live?
How many kits does Toadskip have? I could put Poolcloud as Clawface and Nightpelt’s mother for simplicity and angst but I want your input
Where do Ratscar and Snowbird, as well as Whitethroat and Darkflower come from?
It did! I'll combine both of your asks into one post, just to keep things all together. Thanks for your patience btw, I had to find the time to create the canonical family tree, both for modern and pre-TPB ShadowClan, so I’d have a point of reference
It is so bad that I’m gutting it completely.
How’s the Dawncloud and Finchflight situation going?
badly I would like to use Finchflight a lot as a notably violent background fighter, which is making me want to link him with Clawface or Lizardstripe somehow. In any case, he won’t be Dawncloud’s mate anymore; he is an elder who served under Houndstar, Cedarstar, and died in Raggedstar’s reign.
Dawncloud is, of course, also too young to be having children. I will not be having an 8-month-old “elder queen“ who lost 2 kits in the battle with WindClan. She’ll probably get moved out of Featherstorm’s litter completely; with Featherstorm only keeping Raggedstar, Volewhisper, and Mosspaw.
As a side; Scorchwind is also being eliminated completely. He either dies, or “Scorchwind“ was Raggedpelt’s old name before he gathered enough scars to gain an honor title, like warriors such as Deadfoot and Crookedjaw.
Is Blizzardwing still the father of Hollyflower and Featherstorm’ kits?
I actually have a special vendetta against Blackstar’s Reckoning and I have big plans to re-do it. I hated how they decided that a lot of Blackstar’s problems stemmed from some ridiculous secret daddy issues that don’t matter and don’t largely affect how he grows up; besides, it would matter even less in my rewrite because of the concept of the Queen’s Rights.
So instead, Hollyflower and Blizzardwing are mates who should probably just get a divorce. It was a very unstable environment to grow up in. Blackstar can keep his sad childhood, but he’s not going to be a wet little man who truly had ~Good Intentions~ the whole time. Bad bitches are gonna stay bad.
Who has Marigoldkit and Mintkit? Can they live?
Yellowfang’s sister Rowanberry is going to have them! Brightflower is too old. It would be possible for one of them to live. They are killed on purpose because Brokenstar and Runningnose wanted to get rid of Yellowfang. She was causing too many problems to their reign.
I could have one of them survive the poisoning (I do like the prefix ‘Mint’) to pin the blame on Yellowfang, like it was an elaborate set-up. I’m still working out the exact plan though, such as what Runningnose says Yellow’s motive for killing the kittens was. Maybe Marigoldkit was born blind because Rowanberry was so old?
HOWEVER; If Mintkit survives to adulthood, he probably won’t have kids. I would prefer for Stumptail to have them if Rowanberry’s lineage is staying alive, and Bright/Bracken descendants will become quite prolific since Rowanclaw is now the son of Brokenstar.
What’s the rundown on the Toadskip/Nettlespot/Poolcloud pairing?
Toadskip/Nettlespot/Poolcloud is actually something I want to keep; and this time, they are completely polyamorous on purpose. I’m tentatively allowing them to keep ALL of their kittens, which would be Nightpelt, Clawface, Wolfstep, Foxheart, Cloudpelt, and Littlekit.
Of these, only two are allowed to have surviving offspring. That’s going to be Clawface (from Nettle) and Wolfstep (from Pool). Genetically I am counting Toadnettlepool kits as one large litter, the rules apply to them as such to keep things simple; I’m not making exceptions for half-siblings.
(and toadskip isnt having a secret 3rd mate jesus christ what the HELL, erins?)
I want to make Littlecloud named after Littlekit by putting him somewhere in this family; HOWEVER, it poses a problem because Littlecloud’s mother is staying Newtspeck, Rowanclaw is being moved into that litter, and Brokenstar is their sire.
So... it may be the case that Wolfstep and Foxheart get bumped out of Poolcloud’s litter, and Newt/Frog/Ash are Toadnettlepool kits, and even then, Ashheart might get removed from the litter as well depending on if her litter has survivors.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Cinderfur is not staying the son of Clawface. No no NO no no. Ashheart would not be having kittens with her nephew, and Cinderfur needs to be much older than his ‘father’ Clawface.
Will Fernshade and Wolfstep be having more kittens? What about Flintfang and Blackstar?
Fernshade and Wolfstep WILL be having more kittens, and Ivytail will be one of them!
Blackstar won’t be having any kittens because he is exclusively MLM, not even as an honor-sire the way that some leaders like Brokenstar and Pinestar will have. Flintfang is a probable no; I’m planning for him to die in the BloodClan battle, but I’m keeping him in my "spice rack” in case I need more Hollyflower genetics to flavor things up.
(insurance in case Toadnettlepool spreads like the seattle polycule lmao)
Where do Ratscar and Snowbird come from?
I’m tentative on where Ratscar (previous name Meltpelt) and Snowbird come from, but they WILL be coming from ‘orphan‘ warriors because of how influential Snowbird is going to be genetically. Thankfully, there’s an abundance of those.
Depending on how the timeline shapes up, it’s either going to be Amberleaf, or they’ll be her grandchildren through Appledapple (previously Applefur TF). I’m also considering the idea that their mother died in a Shadow/Wind battle, so Ratscar raised his little sibling or perhaps his niece.
Where do Darkflower and Whitethroat come from?
Well, first of all, Darkflower is no longer the mother of Rowanclaw; Newtspeck is, and also Scorchwind is being eliminated completely (he will either die, or Scorchwind is going to be an old name for Raggedpelt). So Darkflower is completely fresh and open for a different mate or kits. It makes sense to me that Whitethroat could be her son in the same litter as Cedarheart, possibly invoking the Queen’s Rights and staying sireless.
But it feels right somehow that Darkflower would come from Crowtail, as either a daughter or descendant. Crowtail is such a gossip in Yellowfang’s Secret, I would like for her to pass down her way with words because Darkflower’s single line in Tigerstar’s Fury is one of my favorites in Warriors for some ungodly reason
“My belly thinks my throat's been slashed. Are we hunting or talking?“ girl why is your one line so cool. it’s not even important in-context.
If Newtspeck’s litter is so jumbled up, where did Wetfoot go?
Unless and until I decide I need him for genetic diversity somewhere else, he’s going to scooch over to Darkflower’s litter. Newtspeck’s sons are Rowanclaw and Littlecloud.
