hi mousey!! been a while since I sent you an ask
I was putting on my make up earlier today and an idea came to mind, I need to know your opinion on this
how do you think the sdv + sve bachelors would react to a farmer who asks to do their make up? which ones do you think refuse? which ones ask before the farmer does, "can you do it?"? and which ones just accept?
hope you have a great day <3
Hope you have a good day too, dear anon, and thanks for the ask! ☺️❤️
SDV and SVE bachelors react to the Farmer who asks to do their makeup:
Shane:
"Babe, I don't know anything about this."
Still, Shane tries to try to give them a makeup so they don't get upset.
Unfortunately, it didn't work very well.
But he does get a funny little face made of mascara on Farmer's cheek, heh.
Next time, however, he'll refuse, as he'll only make it worse.
Well, at least Shane and Farmer got a funny little memory.
Elliott:
Surprisingly, Elliott agrees right away.
And what's more surprising is that he manages to help Farmer with the make-up very well.
Everything is precise, neat and harmonious, like wow!
Surely our long-haired writer hasn't been a stylist before?
Elliott is happy to do Farmer's make up and tells them not to hesitate to ask him for help in the future.
Harvey:
"Oh, make-up? I'm sorry, my dear, but I don't think I can..."
Harvey does agree to help, though he doesn't count on success.
Totally calm when applying mascara to Farmer, but accidentally paints their cheek with mascara anyway.
On the third or fourth attempt, the doctor manages to give Farmer a simple and quite passable make-up.
Hey, a reason to be proud, he helped his loved one!
Sam:
Hell yeah, Sammy can do quite good make-up! A little different, though.
The young musician has been thinking about make-up for his music band for a long time, so he's had time to practice.
Even though Farmer needs a light, simple ("and boring" as Sam described it) make-up, he can still help them.
And will do very well with mascara and foundation.
"You sure you don't want cool make-up like metal bands? Eh, okay..."
Sebastian:
Sebastian definitely uses black eyeliner (my headcanon, you can't change my mind).
At times our dear emo was too lazy to do his own eyeliner, so will ask Farmer for help first. "Hon, can you help with the eyes please?"
Doesn't know much about the rest of make-up products, but if you need to emphasise your eyes, Sebby will never refuse a request.
And he'll ask for it himself if Farmer's okay with it as well.
Alex:
What make-up? He's not a girl!
To be honest, Alex has only had a couple of make-ups, which are usually done by gridball fans, and, well, that's basically it.
So if Farmer's going to the stadium, then Alex can help with cool sport fan make-up.
If it's just some regular make-up, then no, sorry. He can't do it.
He could try, but he'd end up with paint all over their face. Oh well, at least he tried.
Victor:
"Makeup? Oh, I've never done it, but my mom does her own makeup every day. Maybe she could help you?"
If Farmer insists on getting help from Victor specifically, he will politely decline.
He'd be interested in the idea, though, and a little later he'd watch tutorials on his laptop or ask Olivia.
The next time Victor offered to help Farmer with their makeup, wanting to practice.
"I thought it sounded interesting. Besides, we'll have one more common interest."
Magnus Rasmodius:
"Only with magic can I fulfil your request."
For Magnus, magic is almost the solution to all problems. He thinks magic will help here, too....
With his hands? Sorry, Farmer. A wizard certainly can't do your make up by hands. Only with a spell.
Well, he still has to remember the spell.....
Hold on, he should ask Camilla, she's definitely using that kind of spell.
Lance:
Another clever mage from the magical society where agree to help Farmer with the help of his magic.
He also watches his appearance and sometimes uses spells, but he doesn't do his own makeup and tries to take care of himself without cosmetics.
How then he knows the spells of instant perfect makeup is a mystery.
A snap of his fingers and in a second, he has perfect makeup on Farmer's face.
Though in the future he may learn a couple of basics on how to do Farmer's makeup without magic. Just because the process itself is kinda interesting.

2023 Year In Review
This year once again I invited some friends and colleagues to reflect on 2023
JG Thirlwell Composer Foetus Xordox Manorexia Steroid Maximus Venture Bros Archer
2023 was an intense year. The year began with the premiere of my symphony for Alarm Will Sound and ended with guesting vocalizing with Dinosaur Jr on some Stooges classics. I completed the final season of Archer. Wrote a lot of material for new Xordox and Foetus albums. Released an album of string quartets and scored a Venture Bros movie. Worked with some great singers and premiered my Ensemble project in London. I spent several months traveling and set up a small studio in Melbourne for a bit. Road tripped through NZ with my partner, Dora. I played some excellent shows in London, Colchester, Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. I still woke up 5am in a panic on too many occasions. And I saw some great concerts. It was difficult to whittle down this list but here are a lot of albums I enjoyed in 2023, in no particular order.

Alexander Tucker (Microcorps)
I started off the year by releasing a project very close to my heart: Fifth Continent, a collaboration with the late Keith Collins, partner and collaborator of film maker and artist Derek Jarman. The album was partially recorded in Jarman’s cottage in the desert-like landscape of Dungeness, on the South East coastline of Kent, in the UK, with elements constructed from Collins own spoken word pieces, and environmental recordings. The album was released on James Ginzberg’s Subtext label, and we also produced Fifth Quarter, an anthology publication of writing, recollections, photography and newly commissioned artworks about Jarman, Collins and Dungeness.
Although I probably made more music than usual this year, and had a greater focus than ever on the various projects I have underway, 2023 felt like a weird and often frustrating year for me and music. About five years ago I set about teaching myself modular systems, experimenting, and recording the results as I went along. This culminated in a new solo guise primarily for electronics and the synthesis of voice and acoustic instruments, MICROCORPS (the debut album Xmit came out on Alter records in 2021). Using these systems is at the same time liberating and incredibly frustrating. For a while this year nothing felt good enough: I could feel the potential of my ideas glimmering in the distance but was unable to catch up with them. I decided to take a short break from the modular, and focused upon compositions for cello, saxophone, and clarinet. But the pull of electronics is never far, so I began processing these recordings, using granular synthesis to stretch, mutate and reorganise the audio into new pieces. As soon as you want more from your practice and yourself, things can become more laborious - it’s difficult to be in the moment and focus on what’s in front of you. I used to be happy with the immediate effects I produced, but I think this is being replaced by a different approach, something more considered, which is exciting and, in some ways, sobering - even if the results are far from what you would describe as sober. I’m also so lucky to have many friends and fellow artists around me to offer help and suggestions, to whom I’m eternally grateful. As R.Crumb says, “Keep on truckin”.
Music I dug this year: Godflesh - Purge (Avalanche Recordings) Rắn Cạp Đuôi - *1 (nhạc_gay) Mun Sing - Inflatable Gravestone (Planet Mu) RS Tangent - When A Worm Wears A Wig (The Trilogy Tapes) Arnold Dreybaltt And The Orchestra Of Excited Strings - Resolve (Drag City) Elvin Brandhi and Lord Spikeheart - Drunken Love (Hakuna Kulala) Mark Fell and Will Guthrie - Infoldings / Diffractions (NAKID) Afrorack - The Afrorack (Hakuna Kulala) Kinn - Dogtooth (First Light Records) General Magic - Nein Aber Ja (GoTo Records)
Live shows: Emptyset - Village Underground Elvin Brandhi - IKLECTIK Mick Harris/FRET – Downwards’ 30th, Centrala Mun Sing, Crys Cole, Penelope Trappes - Boundaries Festival  Maxwell Sterling - Cafe OTO Pole - EartH Nik Colk Void - Too many to count! Phew - Cafe OTO Residency Acid Horse Festival Devo - Hammersmith Apollo Kinn - New Cross Road Baptist Church
Comics: In 2023 I produced a new issue of my ongoing oblique and nonlinear comic series, Entity Reunion. For this issue I drew upon my love of HP Lovecraft, using the repetition of the comic format to peel back layers of the everyday to reveal omnipotent entities underlying all reality. The viewpoint of each page is from the point of view of the protagonists, who hold an electronic device, photographing their surroundings only to capture the blurred features of some insidious face. There are also references to Lovecraft’s own fictional grimoire the Necrononmicon. I wanted that dreamlike sensation of being the protagonists of the dream but also viewing yourself as separate entity.
Books: I read nearly all of Patrica Highsmith’s ‘Ripley’ books, a bunch of John Le Carré novels, Mark Kermode’s book on The Exorcist and I’m currently working my way through the spy novelist Eric Ambler’s books. I also re-read Bruce Robinson’s analysis on Jack the Ripper and Victorian society, ‘They All Love Jack’.

Music I made a (very) long list on my wildly popular blog, Abundant Living. But, for kicks and with the understanding that maybe you don’t feel like reading (or subscribing to) my wildly popular blog, here’s some stuff I included and some stuff I forgot (with particular attention paid to albums I think might be of particular interest to JG friends/fans but which may have slipped through the radar) (meaning: I mainly put the stuff that wasn’t on too many other lists). Fatboi Sharif Decay (Backwoodz) Skech185 He Left Nothing for the Swim Back (Backwoodz) Zohra Murder In The Temple (American Dreams) The Native Cats The Way On Is The Way Off (Chapel)  Geese 3D Country (Partisan) Gold Dime No More Blue Skies (No-Gold) Algiers Shook (Matador) EXEK The Map and the Territory (Foreign) Skinhead Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt (Closed Casket) Débruit & Alsarah Aljawal الجوال (Soundway) Fairytale Shooting Star (Toxic State) Among The Rocks and Roots Pariah (Cacophonous Revival)  Full of Hell, Nothing When No Birds Sang (Closed Casket) Uniform & Boris Bright New Disease (Sacred Bones) Sleaford Mods  UK Grim (Rough Trade) Money&King Act Unnaturally (self released) Blu Anxxiety Morbid Now, Morbid Later (Toxic State) Nana Benz du Togo  AGO (Komos) Citric Dummies Zen and the Arcade of Beating Your Ass (Feel It) Ghösh  Prismassive (Ramp Local) Peasdez  Fenomenologia Del Espiritu Agonico: De La Existencia Sordida Al Pendulo De La Nada (SPHC) Upper Wilds Jupiter (Thrill Jockey) Death Valley Girls Islands In The Sky (Suicide Squeeze) Raphael Rogiński Talán  Body Void Atrocity Machine (Prosthetic) Feeling Figures Migration Magic (Perennial) Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band  Dancing on the Edge (Sophomore Lounge) Nosaj from New Kingdom & steel tipped dove House of Disorder (Fused Arrow Records) mclusky unpopular parts of a pig / the digger you deep (self released) Advertisement Escorts (Feel It) King Vision Ultra  Shook World (hosted by Algiers) (PTP)

BOOKS My phone has pretty much eliminated my ability to read. I did read the first 100 pages of more books than I care to admit. I finally finished Mark Andrews’ Paint My Name In Black and Gold: The Rise of the Sisters of Mercy and I recommend it if, like me, you think The Sisters of Mercy are better than the Beatles (or whatever inane comparison annoys your friends the most). I also discovered Gene Wolfe and read the first book in the Book of the New Sun trilogy. Otherwise, it’s pretty much been just using Louise Glück poetry as inspiration to write terrible versions of Louise Glück poetry.
TV Doom Patrol Pokerface Rick and Morty (idc idc idc idc) HasanAbi twitch stream  A ludicrous amount of Britbox mysteries and—passively, yes, but not without a fair amount of emotional investment—various Real Housewife shows/spinoffs
Movies Didn’t watch any new movies this year but I did have a lot of youtube videos playing in the background while I did other things, and sometimes those videos would be three hour long screeds about what was wrong with a number of movies I’d never heard of. So I feel like I got the gist.
LIFE Converted to Islam and married Zohra in January. Both choices have proven to be rewarding as all hell. Cashing in my “as a Jew I…” argument card—while simultaneously being too new a Muslim to reasonably claim either special knowledge and/or marginalization status—has really fucked with my ability to be self-righteous online. But the love that Zohra and her family have shown me has more than made up for my newfound inability to really wipe the floor with a motherfucker in the instagram comments. In fact, I liked marrying Zohra so much that I did it again in December (first time was a religious ceremony, the second time was our rendering to Caesar etc). If you know me/us and weren’t invited to either that’s because essentially no one was. As my parents couldn’t attend (on account of being dead) I didn’t really see the point of a big party. That was perhaps selfish. We love you (probably) and will have some sort of to-do in 2024.
Otherwise, I am still very much enjoying working for the new CREEM Magazine (please subscribe) and doing my newsletter (please subscribe). Musically, I lived vicariously through Zohra and the release of her first solo album. Murder In The Temple, with amazing production by Ben Greenberg and contributions by Lydia Lunch, is a synthesis of so many of Zohra’s obsessions. It’s unlike anything in the post-goth-dark-whatever sphere and I can’t express how proud I am of it and her. As for my music, I did some neat-o Scientists-esque stuff with Telematics (Sohrab Habibion, Robert Austin, and Alexis Fleisig) and Zohra and I did a Sheer Terror cover in the style of Tindersticks to commemorate Paul Bearer’s marriage. Also, I’m pretty sure my most successful band (Publicist UK) got dropped by our label (apparently taking eight years to finish a demo is a long time) so get at me if you have a low-to-mid tier label and want to put out an album of eight minute gothic metal songs with zero mosh parts, about an aging hipster loving his wife and cats and missing his dead mom and dad. C’mon, do it. You’d be printing money.

If 2022 was the Return of the Show and the Return of Travel, 2023 was about Building Stability (i.e. making my teaching studio a primary income source), Hunkering Down to Finish Two Albums, and Re-Learning How to Be a Human Being. I also played a bunch of cool shows with Dither (collabs w/ Carla Kilhlstedt, Lee Ranaldo/Brian Chase, Amirtha Kidambi, AJ Santillan, and Laurie Spiegel; playing Electric Counterpoint on GFA), a couple fun Scarcity shows (playing with Liturgy, improvising on graphic scores by Anthony Hawley) and did some performances with Whimbrels and Contemporaneous.
These were albums I enjoyed (incessantly) at some point during 2023 that were mostly - but not exclusively - also released in 2023.

Grace Bergere
(songwriter / singer / performer)
This year was full of firsts for me!
Definitely the most musically eventful year of my life to date. I went on my first tour playing bass with my great friends in COP/OUT, supporting Days n' Daze (A band I'd been listening to for years as a young punk kid.)  I immediately realized touring is really all I want to do.  I also got to tour alongside Subhumans in Cop/Out. Meeting them and getting to know them was mind expanding.  They were all kind and humble thoughtful individuals, completely down to earth and engaged with everyone they spoke to. Every night across the midwest they brought the crowd to a cathartic screaming euphoric mess. Working with COP/OUT, whose message is so clear; to be good to each other, question everything even when it means swimming upstream with every bit of strength you have, filled me with hope.  Playing on that tour with them, and watching Subhumans every night reminded me the power of music to affect real social change which is something I believed to have been  lost in recent years.  I met my great friend Jessica Mills on that tour and we still talk all the time.
I also started playing guitar in The Art Gray Noizz Quintet. One of my longtime favorite bands (that my very talented cool boyfriend happens to play bass in.) We went all across the West Coast, landing in Las Vegas. Playing with them has demanded I advance as a guitarist, stepping into Andrea Sicco's shoes. Andrea is a complete beast of a musician and all of his musical projects are awesome. Check out MOVIE MOVIE, his most recent project.
I also joined Crazy And The Brains on second guitar. They’re a super fun high energy punk band. I love being around such positive fun loving musicians and watching them bounce around while I do my best to keep up.
I recently finished recording my album at HOBO SOUND in Hoboken by James Frazee. The time and effort it took over the several years since I started, was at times grueling. But James never stopped caring or checked out. He helped me shape this album into something I am truly proud of, along with Richard Dev Greene, one of the first people to ever believe in my music. I am so grateful to both of them.
I started spending time with Victoria and Kay of Puzzled Panther. They quickly have become two of my best friends. It is so meaningful for me to have found such badass, driven young women to share a dream with. Puzzled Panther is raw and hypnotizing. They have a unique strong hold over their audience and every show of theirs I’ve been to has been fantastic.  Victoria has joined me a few times on a song at my shows, and every time I believe has been one of the strongest points in my set.
I Met Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello (the first huge band I ever went to see as a young teenager.)  He will be releasing my upcoming single and video for “Come And Go”  on his label Casa Gogol Records in early 2024.
I just played the biggest show I’ve ever played with my solo project that plays under my name.  We were on a bill with Gogol Bordello and JON SPENCER (Also one of my favorite artists.)  Being on that stage standing there in front of more people I’ve ever seen in an audience from that vantage point, I felt like every second of my life was leading to that moment. Each song brought me back to the time in my life when Id written it and it felt very much like watching my life projected in front of me. It was indescribably satisfying to be on that stage. Later, in the audience, I screamed along to Gogol and watched my mom dance to songs she'd heard me blasting through the house as a kid, and felt just as moved by them as I did as a young teenager the first time I saw them.
I am so grateful to be working with Eugene. He is kind and thoughtful in his feedback and hugely supportive of me and my dreams.
I will be playing New Years Eve with the Art Gray Noizz Quintet before Kid Congo Powers and The Pink Monkey Birds !!
This last week I can honestly say, has been the best of my life to date. Like looking out over a valley after climbing for years.
BEST SHOWS
(other than the ones I was lucky enough to play at listed above)
RICHARD DAWSON
I got to see Richard Dawson three whole times!!! it was his first US appearance. He is a completely unique force. I’ve never seen such a captivated crowd. we all cried and screamed along with him.
PIGS X 7
One of those times he was playing with Pigs x7. They quickly became another favorite band of mine despite having severe technical difficulties. it was actually kind of a highlight because their front man just started joking around and had the entire audience laughing along with him and talking for about 10 minutes. I got to see them two other times that went perfectly. What a band..
JON SPENCER AND THE HIT MAKERS
I saw them at TV Eye. I had been able to squeeze myself into the DJ booth for their set. They hammered away into some kind of magical hypnosis that made me feel like I'd taken MDMA. (I had not.) I had to lean against a wall to keep my balance. They played with Licks, a badass 60s garage rock inspired band fronted by my friend Skunk.
LYDIA LUNCH RETROVIRUS
Also driving and hypnotic and loud as hell. I was left with a similar feeling of having been dosed with something at all of their shows…
JOSEPH KECKLER
The first time I saw Joseph perform was at TV eye with Lydia Lunch. He’s completely unique. He writes gorgeous songs that he sings in an incomprehensibly wide range, sometimes in languages that he has invented himself! His seamlessly mixes humor with honest beautiful songwriting.

I want to thank JG Thirlwell for inviting me to submit my 2023 Year in Review. I had never done one of these before and it's been a fun challenge to go through my calendar and social media to remember and realize how much I was able to pack into this year! Selecting and writing down all of these things also helped me further grasp and understand how tremendously privileged and lucky I am to be able to do what I love all year around, year after year, and to live my life to the fullest and according to my own wishes and my own design. I don't take this lightly and I don't take it for granted. I am very aware that it comes from hard work, limitless passion and unweavery dedication, not just luck and good fortune, but nevertheless I am grateful every single day for this life and for being healthy, being able to do all of this, and for all the people in my path who trust me, inspire me, support me, challenge me, and enlighten me!

SOUND DESIGN GIGS & LIVE SOUND MIXING GIGS Similarly to the list above, I am eternally greatful for the fact that all these wonderfully talented people trust me with designing, mixing and amplifying their sound so that the rest of the world can truly and fully experience their art in the most complete, sonically articulated, detailed and full spectrum way there is! Some of these highlights include:
Mixing a 90-piece orchestra + 90-piece choir playing the score to Stanley Kubrick "2001: A Space Odyssey" live-to-picture  conducted by Brad Lubman in the Auditorio Nacional of Mexico City to a sold-out crowd of 10'000 people

MOVIES There are soooo many movies I still want to / need to see… I love movies but I prioritize work and live music in my life and I will only watch movies on planes, on (very very) rainy days or those rare times when I don't have a concert on my calendar, so here are a few of those rainy/non-concert films, in no particular order:
Killers of the Flower Moon (for the story, the acting and the soundtrack)
Equalizer 3 (because aside from its Hollywood-ish story and ending, it's a realistic look at how organized crime works in Italy)
Little Richard: I am Everything (for his story, his character, his music and his courage!)
Psychedelicized: The Electric Circus Stroy (for the amazing portrait of a time that's past but that changed NYC forever!)
American Symphony (for the amazing story, talent, spirit and courage of Jon Batiste)
32 Sounds (because my life is about sound…)
Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song (because Leonard was an amazing artist and songwriter and singer and so many friends are in this movie)
Oppenheimer (because that history is so complex and so divided as the country in which it took place)
TRAVEL Travel is the richess of life! I travel SO MUCH that I am on a plane AT LEAST once a month and usually it is to an international location… This year was no different, so I've decided to only list 12 trips for this section:
January: Ringing in the year in a medieval tower in Barcelona and spending the first 4 days of the new year trying all the tapas bars, restaurants, food stands this beautiful city has to offer and seing the Sagrada Familia cathedral for the 3rd time in my life
February: Living in Amsterdam for 3 weeks visiting all the musuems, all the music venues and all the while working at the Dutch National Opera with some amazing folks (see list above)
March: Snowboarding the Swiss and the French alps
April: Visiting Knoxville Tennessee for Big Ears (easily the best independent music festival in the US!!!) for the 2nd time in 2 years, and hopefully the beginning of many more visits in the future!
May: Spending time in sunny Los Angeles and plotting a way to spend more time there and make music
June: Visiting London twice in one month to work and see amazing music shows, theater shows and art exhibits
July: coming back from London on July 6th only to realize that strangely there is no travel for the rest of this month! So weird and unusual!
August: Spending the month in Puglia, Southern Italy eating good food, kitesurfing in the Adriatic and Ionium sea, seeing tons of concerts and playing one myself!
September: arriving in Mexico City and getting my very own police escort motorcade to make it in time from the airport to the theater
October: On tour with John Zorn in Italy, France and the Netherlands
November: Flying to Los Angeles with a 36 hour notice for a concert I was hired for in secrecy having been told "we need a mixing engineer who can mix music for a room full of musicians" and showing up for the Robbie Robertson tribute orgnaized by Martin Scorsese with people like Joni Mitchell and Leonardo DiCaprio in attendance
December: DC-to-DF aka flying to Washgington DC to work at the White House and then flying straight to Mexico City I've finished the year with travel to my motherland of Switzerland, my fatherland of Italy and my second home of London UK!

Thoughts on Fashion & Style from Harvey's Instagram Live with Samantha Rei Crossland
Last night, Harvey Guillén joined fashion designer Samantha Rei Crossland for a chat on Instagram Live to talk about life, style, the entertainment industry, and to answer some fan questions! The full video may be available via Harvey or Samantha's IG eventually, as they saved it at the end, but in the meantime I've compiled some of the questions and answers related to Harvey's relationship with fashion and style here!
This text is taken from the video and has been lightly edited for clarity.
Samantha: Dollie says, "as a fan you can really tell Harvey worked deliberately through fashion and photoshoots to establish his style in person, in front of the camera, and on the red carpet. I'd love to hear more about that journey and additionally if you have any tips for achieving confidence in style and fashion."
Harvey: Wow, good question! I feel like that was an avenue that never was presented to me as an option for the first part of my career. You know everyone's like "oh who dressed you?" I dressed myself! I mean I still do, but I didn't really get any kind of help with anything stylish-wise until recently, when I got the opportunity to work with different designers and stylists who introduced me to those designers. That's really what it is: a stylist will get you into an atelier or someone's house, like Christian Siriano or someone like that. But for the most part, for a long time I just kind of dressed myself, and on a budget.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Knowing Harvey was putting these kinds looks together by himself on a budget in 2017 and 2018, I will never again cut any of the Chrises with their MCU money a single centimeter of slack for showing up year after year, to event after event, in bland black or navy suits.
Harvey (continued): Because stylists are worth every penny, but they're expensive! They are expensive because they do a great job, but you also have to be constantly doing that. I think Zendaya was just talking about this in an interview. There's moments where you want a stylist because you want to look your best and you want the best opportunity and possibility, and there's moments where you're like "I'll dress myself, it's just a small event, I'll make it work. I'll make it work with what I have."
But yeah, I really wanted to put myself in a position where...why can't I like fashion? Why can't I do a photoshoot, and why can't I do a cover? I had a publicist, one of my first publicists...I said "I want to be the first to do something, like be on a cover of something like this!" And they straight out loud said "that's not going to happen." And I was like..."oh well, I mean maybe not overnight, but that should be the goal, we should work toward--"
And they were like "yeah, but we want to be realistic...and that's not gonna happen."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cannot imagine being the person to tell THIS man he's never going to be on the cover of a magazine.
Harvey (continued): I realized, if people on your team are naysayers or they're not seeing the vision, those people aren't on your team. So unfortunately, I had to let them go, because if there's someone on your team who's already being toxic towards your vision, that's not the vision, that's not the vibe, that's not it. And so I'm glad to report that shortly after that we did get a cover! And then I was able to kind of show that off and be like, "it can be done!" You just have to find the right team and the right people who see your vision.
I think for so long it's just been easy to say no to people who don't fit the mold of Hollywood, and I'm not here to fit a mold. I'm here to break it.
Samantha: You're killin' it! You have no idea how many of these questions were just "when is he starting a fashion line?"
Harvey: I want to! I think right now I'm so focused on my main passion, which is acting, and I'm so grateful and blessed to have opportunities that are coming my way and that I am excited for. And now wrapping something that I'm gonna hold so dear to my heart like Shadows for so long, I'm so grateful. And you know, most actors would kill for just the opportunity to be on a show like Shadows and call it a day, and I would be happy if that's the work that I'm known for, because it's such a great show.
But I'm fortunate that I have all of these other things that are coming up. I'm so excited for the opportunities, and I'm excited for the different characters and different roles and different hats I get to put on.
But eventually that would definitely be an avenue that...I mean, it would definitely be on brand! You know? It would be so on brand to open a plus size line, especially because growing up I didn't see as many options for plus size people, period. But if there were, obviously the lean is for female clothing, and it was never for men at all. Like the options for a plus sized guy was like...screen t-shirts and jeans. And that's it!
Or it was always Big and Tall, where if you weren't tall you got stuck with a really short and stout kind of shirt. The measurements were always catered to "if you're big, you gotta be tall," and well, I don't know if that's true, but there was no in between. So that's a market that I would definitely want to look at. But for the time being I'm focusing on the acting part of it.
Samantha: Kelly wants to ask, "do you like any specific colors or patterns? Where are your tastes when you dress high fashion?"
Harvey: I used to be afraid of color a lot because I was always told if you're plus sized or bigger you'll amplify yourself. But I think you shouldn't be afraid of color. Last year, a year ago next month, at the Meta Gala I wore pink! That was all Christian Siriano from head to toe, and there was a wink there and a story behind it--if you know you know--why he and I chose the color pink for the Met Gala and who they were honoring and all of that. So I'm not afraid of color. I try to be very specific about the dimensions and where my leg cuts off or where it elongates my leg.
Tumblr media
Harvey's now-iconic outfit from the 2023 Met Gala--whose theme was honoring Karl Lagerfeld--blended foundational style elements of Lagerfeld's most famous designs for Chanel with all the things Lagerfeld loudly hated throughout his life. Lagerfeld was infamous for making shitty comments about plus sized people, people of color, short men, and a host of other things. He also disliked the color pink. So Harvey showing up as himself and looking stunning wearing that glorious pink number was possibly the classiest shade ever thrown.
Harvey (continued): I've just been like the Christian Siriano poster boy this year! Which is a funny story because when I first approached him over a year ago for the Oscars, he was really busy and he said "I really don't make menswear."
And I was like "well I'm not saying I want you to make completely a tuxedo, I want you to do something in the middle." And he was like "well, I kind of did that with Billy Porter" where he put Billy in this really amazing gown. And I was like "well I don't want to do a gown, I want something between that, you know? Like where it doesn't have to be a traditional, boring, just plain old tuxedo, and it doesn't have to be this amazing, beautiful ball gown that Billy had worn."
Because he doesn't really design for men, he designs for women. And he said "this would be the first I would do this." And I said "then that's great! It'll be the first!" And he definitely had never designed for a plus sized man, so we were checking all these boxes off.
So my idea was if someone in 1920 went to an award show but was trying to wear a vintage Victorian or Edwardian outfit to honor a vintage look. So the hair was 1920s. The hair was done by Connie, who was my hair person in What We Do In the Shadows, who helped me originate the original look for Guillermo.
And Romie--who's my best friend since third grade--is my makeup artist, and she did my makeup for the Oscars and makeup for a lot of the events I go to.
And it was just amazing, you know. That outfit...oh my god. Vogue ran it, they got so many likes, it was on every social [media] outlet, and it did so well that last fall, for the first time, [Christian] had a men's line. And I can't help but wonder if it was a coincidence, if it had anything to do with my "how about we try this experiment!"
Tumblr media
This beautiful vintage-inspired look for the Oscars was Harvey's first red carpet collaboration with Christian Siriano and landed him on nearly every best dressed list for the event. The metallic brocade tuxedo gown and bell hem trouser were included in Siriano's Fall 2023 line, and are available to order on his website (for a hefty price) as separate pieces in sizes up to a size 30 (58 bust, 60 waist).
Harvey (continued): Christian's been great, and of course he would make amazing pieces for menswear, of course he would!
We collaborated on a lot of things. For the Critic's Choice award we did a really cool cut, which was like a midriff cut with a peek-a-boo of belly. Because you know, I like my body, and I can show it off! And he did it in a way where I was like "woah!" It elongated my leg and it had a peek-a-boo of a little bit of tummy, and it had a neckline that plunges. So it shows your chest, and it's mesh, and then this giant bow on the side that you can take off or put on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This red carpet look Harvey wore for the Critic's Choice Awards is one of my personal favorites. It feels like plus size people are always being urged to both cover up as much as possible and make ourselves as small as possible. But this outfit stares those demands in the face and says "Why though? Fuck that! Show yourself off and take up space!"
Harvey (continued): It got so many compliments on the carpet! And it's to a T a Christian look, but also very much me, because we collaborated in what that would look like and how I want that on my body, how it looks on my body, because what looks good on me may not look good on someone else. But it's knowing what your best assets are and what you're showing off, and what you want to show off. Because that's what's going to make you feel the most comfortable, when you're showing off something that you love about yourself.
Samantha: That's literally what I tell my clients! You feel the best you've ever looked in your life when everything just fits you perfectly and shows off the best parts of your body that you like the most. It's not about hiding, it's about amplifying.
Harvey: Yeah, exactly.

Thank you so much to both Samantha and Harvey for this wonderful conversation on IG Live! It was truly a joy to witness it and get more insight into Harvey's thoughts on fashion and style.

On my platonic yandere Batfam bullshit again thinking about, like, deliberately dramatic scenarios because I crave emotional tension
-imagine if Bruce gets called in to regressed!Reader's school because you got in a fist fight with another kid, and this kid is the son of one of his prominent business partners and Bruce, uh, doesn't immediately believe you when you state for him and the principal why you got into a fight because, hey he knows that boy, he isn't THAT bad! And Bruce scolds you and makes you apologize and even grounds you once you two are in the car alone and you're just noticeably extremely angry and quiet to the point you won't even come out of your room for dinner. And after some time has passed, days even, a couple members of the fam are in a room together with you and someone cracks a joke about you losing your temper over a misunderstanding and you just, stare directly at them as you pull out your phone, press play on a video, and walk away as they watch where you had been trying to take a photo of something like idk a flower or the weather and began accidentally filming after Selina helped dropped you off at school and the footage caught the boy outright calling her a slut for what she was wearing
And of course Bruce is upset because that kid insulted Catwoman and also got some swings back at you (he's probably proud to a certain degree that you defended Selina and shes absolutely delighted when she hears about it) but he asks "well why didn't you tell me you had proof im the first place" and you just spit at him "oh so I need PROOF for you to BELIEVE ME?" And extra bonus points if Reader has their old memories back and hits him with "after everything you've done to me, I finally ask for your help and ACTUALLY needed you this ONE TIME and you couldn't even believe me? Wow, my hero 🙄" so now he knows he's broken your heart AND you're back to the "old you" that he wants to, father all the depression and trauma out of
-since Dick, Barbara, and Reader would all be going to a prestigious school I think of like, what if your class got kidnapped for ransom while on a field trip. And Robin and Batgirl look over to you thinking you're going to panic and freak out but you're suspiciously calm, or, calmer than the anxiety stricken adopted 'sibling' they've had this whole time, and maybe despite being kidnapped by like, idk, Babyface or Black Mask or Two Face, and maybe you even just outright insult them and it becomes horribly obvious to them "oh not only do you have your memories back, they've unintentionally turned you into an explosive powder keg of repressed anger and frustration because they betrayed what little trust you had left"
You just look at Two Face and start fucking with him, this criminal looking down as a teenager starts roasting him way too casually and maybe with facts you shouldn't even know, things you remember from your time as a hero before. "Hey Harvey, what's hanging, it's been a while. Hey can I ask a question? You ever think about just outright asking someone like I dunno Bruce Wayne to fix that fucked up meat gristle face of yours? Like, I'm sure having half your body resemble the same consistency of a breakfast sausage has its uses in intimidation, but, like, I'm sure if you just walked up to Batman and said 'hey if you make me look less like a rotisserie chicken I'll quit crime' and he would probably just like, HAND the money for the sugery to you, like, do you think Batmobile money falls out of the sky, he's clearly fucking loaded"
And of course the follow up/alternative of "the stress triggers Reader's metagene or old memories or both and you just start whooping ass unapologetically and Barb and Dick are sweating because they're trying not to break incognito but like you're significantly hurting these dudes, you're clearly really angry and upset and taking it out on them" and tbh I imagine Batman already has contingencies for this possibility. He shows up in costume and Two Face has already fled but you're standing there in your preppy school uniform now dirty and torn, blood on your knuckles, about to beat a man unconscious while your classmates either cower or cheer or fear you. If Reader has some sort of magic, then he just has to get Nth metal from Hawkgirl or Hawkman, maybe he'll make it a cute bracelet, just a nice gift from Dad. Bodily autonomy to use your own powers and be an adult again, what's that? He's disappointed in you for caving into the darkness and also? you're grounded >:(
-Reader becoming a mugging/gun violence victim and now you're never allowed to leave the manor, period. I can only imagine like the projection of trauma from Bruce if, after losing his parents, he has to watch you weak and recovering from a gunshot, wheezing in bed struggling to breathe properly because a bullet went through one of your lungs. You're put in a total bubble to recover in absolute peace and sterility, but, even far after you've recovered, your "guardian" is still convinced someone will leap out of the bushes to hurt you, so, no leaving the manor unless he's with you. Like. Imagine him being so scared he doesn't even want to trust your safety with the other Batfamily members, and maybe he even cracks down on several of the other younger members because he doesn't want them to get shot too (also like, resulting trauma and overprotectiveness if one or multiple of them saw you get shot and are like, still fucked up over having to apply pressure to your bullet wound as your warm blood leaks all over their fingers and they can't do anything to stop you and-- like do you see how that would send some of them into borderline psychosis when theyve already got So Many Many Issues)
-all of them try to exert control over what you're exposed to and consume in terms of entertainment. You have spyware on your phone and any member of the Batfam who can use the Batcomputer can see your past and current browsing history and I will die on this hill. Bruce and Alfred are rigorous in making sure you don't ruin your mental health. Like you know how I talked about "what if you had a yandere that was in tech and he gave you a phone that he occasionally spies on and remotely disables if he thinks you're spending too much time on it/seeing something you shouldnt"? Bruh that's like half of the Manor, Bruce especially. He has to "make sure nothing bad happens to you". All it can take is 'one bad day', after all...
-obsessed with the idea of them getting jealous of you spending time with other alternate universe versions of themselves, in concepts where Reader is a JL member/vigilante and has the power/tech to multiverse travel anyways. Batman hasn't seen you in a couple weeks and, actually maybe he's a little concerned about you, you've kind of just vanished off the face of the earth, and he bumps into you on a Gotham rooftop with. Another Batman, and getting along much better and being more casual and friendly with the stranger than with him. Broody fucking "I am darkness, I am the night, I am vengeance" Bruce catching you like. smoking weed on his couch with the hilariously weird version of him from the Harley Quinn cartoon universe and God forbid if anyone shows signs of having feelings for you
(also could you imagine how ballistic he and or Jason would go if they caught you hanging out with, you know, one of the super violent "murder is ok" Jasons/Batmans and you tell them straight up "actually I agree with what he's doing, I want to help him, in fact maybe I'll work with HIM now instead of you" like, y'all, I think Batman would permanently never let you work as a hero or sidekick ever again because he's genuinely worried you'll fall down the slippery slope and make a mistake that ruins your life. Like depending on the depiction of Batman you're looking at, some of them admit straight up that they don't kill Joker because they know they're legitimately filled with so much anger and hatred that if they kill even one person, that'll break the barrier to killing tons of criminals outright and they won't be able to stop)
-all I'm saying is that if they ever caught you like being cordial or mildly friendly with an alternate universe version of a villain, no matter how good they are, they shut that shit down immediately. "Y/N who is that" "oh this is my bud The Jester from the universe where the Joker is actually really good and a superhero and--" *jester proceeds to be grappled back through a multiverse portal* "wait no don't freak out this poison ivy is actually really chill and she's married to Harley and she sells me really good weed and she only does a liiiiiitle bit of ecoterrorism and--" immediately thrown in Arkham
-I just genuinely think it's funny that they're probably either smoking weed with you bc trauma and stress or are vehemently anti drug. Can you imagine just in general like, regressed reader, batfam member, either way, just being an actual adult just minding your business and smoking weed and Bruce reacting like he just caught you with a loaded gun in your pocket "y/n is that a weed" "yeah its for my chronic pain--" "I'm calling commissioner gordon" like, Bruce practically acting like you need to go to rehab
-I kinda love the drama of Bruce or Dick or Barbara or just any of the Batfam members accidentally basically ruining your social life and social reputation. You were at a house party one night and eventually pics start getting texted around of Nightwing confronting you in the yard and pulling you away and now there are rumors you're a criminal on parole. You get invited to smoke weed at a friend's and suddenly Batman is in the house and suddenly everyone's parents are there to pick up their kids as he lectures about the dangers of drugs and now absolutely NO ONE from school wants anything to do with you "because what if Batman shows up and gets us in trouble"
-I feel like, as one of those vaguely morally gray areas, that Bruce would make you take medication and get treatment for, like, really anything that needs it, but more specifically anxiety and depression and just overall psychological issues. And as a dark twist what if you aren't really naturally anxious and don't even have an anxiety disorder or anything but he puts you on pills to mellow you out because you're freaking out at him for completely valid and understandable reasons like, you know, being confined in his home against your will. "What, you aren't mad about being kidnapped and controlled and lied to, you clearly just have pre existing emotional issues that keep you from reacting properly, but don't worry I'm here to help" 🙄🙄🙄

Hi !! How would the rogues (BM, TF, Scarecrow, Riddler) interact with a S/O that is pretty short like 5ft to 4ft 11 kind of short—would they tease them about it or even pick them up by the waist because of it? BM and Scarecrow are like 6ft so they would TOWER over them fksjdj
Height
Ah yes, height, the true measurement to power in Gotham...
Black Mask: (If you SMOL then you ain't TALLLLLL. Sorry, I'll reign it in but thats his whole battle cry logic. We humans would think 'who cares?' Whilst Roman says I DO.) Roman isn't the tallest in Gotham, nor the bulkiest so he WILL make fun of the 'inferior'. Specifically height on a regular basis. Chances are he's much stronger than you but that doesn't matter to him but your height. Wow the male dominance just rains on him and fuels his ego. He can and will pick you up if you don't do what he says and sometimes it's for a playful tackle. The shorter you are, the more teasing and he simply can't take you seriously.
Two-Face: Doesn't care about height but will tease you for fun sometimes when in a good mood. Which is rare, let's be honest. Also anticipate nicknames like 'short stuff' and 'tiny'. He can and he will throw you over his shoulder, just try to mess with him. Harv' is more likely to do this and make references to your height than Harvey is. Don't expect to be able to intimidate either of them though. They barely take you seriously when you're pissed off but if you try to sound intimidating too? Nah. Not gonna work.
Scarecrow: Doesn't care about height but you're right, he's a tall but lanky boi-o. He wouldn't really lift you at all. If he did, it's rare and far between each time. Although he doesn't care. Seriously this man doesn't care about your height in the slightest and there really isn't much so say beyond that.
The Riddler: He might throw it in here and their to season his sass a little. The key is to mention your height but not over do it to where its predictable. After all it wouldn't do him justice as to how intelligent he is if he constantly made fun of superficial things like height. It really doesn't bother him. The most common time he'd lift you if it was because you were in his way. You know when you try to get out of someone's way and you both move in the same direction and so just staying in someone's way? The Riddler is solving that real quick. Lift and move. Or pull you out of his way. Really depends on his mood.

Happy Birthday to the Legendary Liza Minnelli 🎉🥂🎂
Liza May Minnelli is an American actress, singer, dancer and choreographer. She’s the daughter of actress and singer Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli,
Liza is known for her commanding stage presence and powerful alto singing voice, she is among a rare group of performers awarded an Emmy, Grammy (Grammy Legend Award), Oscar, and Tony (EGOT). Minnelli is a Knight of the French Legion of Honour.
Freddie absolutely adored her …. 💛
“The thought of doing more lavish stage type things does appeal to me, I’ve just got to convince the others. I like the cabaret-ish sort of thing. In fact, one of my early inspirations came from Cabaret. I absolutely adore Liza Minelli, she is a total wow.
The way she delivers her songs - the sheer energy. The way the lights enhance every movement of the show. But somehow I have to combine it with the group, not divorce from it. That’s the difficult thing. I think you can see similarities in the excitement and energy of a Queen show. We are a bit flashy, but I also think we’re sophisticated, the music’s not one big noise. It’s not Glam Rock either. We’re in the show business tradition.
I think on stage you either have the magic, or you don’t, and there’s no way you can work up to it. Liza Minnelli just oozes with sheer talent. She has energy and stamina, which she gets across on stage, and the way she delivers herself to the public is a good influence. There is a lot to learn from her.”
~ Freddie Mercury
Freddie was asked in an interview if he’d like to date Liza Minnelli:
His response, “Oh, no. I would like to talk to her, yes. I would just like to meet her after a performance and take it from there. I don’t know what she would say to me, or what I would say to her.”
Well, Freddie’s dream came true, he met the beautiful legend during Queen’s 20 year anniversary party at Groucho’s in London’s Soho on 18 February 1990.
A moment he treasured!
“When I saw Liza Minnelli at Freddie’s Tribute Concert, it has to be remembered that I was the only face she knew from Freddie’s immediate circle. We had first met at Groucho’s at a party after the BPI Awards in 1990. Our friend Ronnie Fisher who worked for Harvey Goldsmith was accompanying Liza that night and of course, both she and Freddie were desperate to meet each other. Needless to say they got on like a house on fire.
I remember at Groucho’s, once Freddie had met Liza, no one else really existed. She was, to him, not only the epitome of a real star but also the daughter of Judy Garland whose films had been part of his cultural diet for many years since childhood.
Liza looked very glamorous too, dressed all in black, in a knee-length jacket and trousers with a satin top which was cut straight over her bosom. She and Freddie sat together on a banquette and leaned in towards each other and yammered, talking and laughing, bursting out with gales of laughter. It warmed my heart to see Freddie having such a good time for by then he was sick and rarely enjoyed this sort of spontaneous joyful good time which went on for at least two or three hours.
Freddie was anxious to continue the relationship and of course invited her to come and see him at Garden Lodge and they made a date a few days later during her same visit.
Liza closed the show and it was the sheer force and energy with which she imbued WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS which I felt, although Freddie wasn’t physically present, would have made him very happy as she held not only the seventy-two thousand live audience but the billion television watchers across the world in the palm of her hand.
As Ben Thompson wrote in the Independent on Sunday on May 10th 1992: “ ... Liza Minnelli is probably the only person who could carry off the finale.
Like Liz Taylor, she has the kind of fame Mercury was aiming for in his later years – when a person becomes so glamorous you don’t need to remember what they did to get there. If the billion people alleged to be watching needed proof that he’d achieved it, this show was it .”
Peter Freestone
“Freddie, he was crazy as a horse! I performed at Wembley Stadium at the concert to honour Freddie. He was a huge fan of mine, which I am still tickled to know. He was one of the best of all time.” 🌹♥️
~ Liza Minnelli
The first picture was taken by Richard Young during Freddie final public appearance in February 1990 and the other two were taken at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert 💔

Hello I saw Black Mask discussion and I just had to chime in! I need to read more comics on him defiantly to have a full opinion but I think something interesting is how he could parallel Batman (I know like, every villain does, but still lol). Both of them having dealt with trauma and forming these new, dark identities to deal with it, heavily focusing on a mask they wear, seeing they’re civilian identity as the fake persona.
I will also say 2 things I love and found very interesting were Roman’s backstory in this one comic (forgive me I’ve forgotten the name) where he took inspiration from Bruce Wayne’s parents death and decided to kill his own, tying their fates together forever. I think there’s something very messed up about that, the way he co-opted Bruce’s trauma and how like many other iconic villain hero pairs he’s forced them to have this shared connection, even if that wasn’t his intention in the comic. I think he could make a great main nemesis for Batman.
As well Mr. Rouges on YouTube has a great series called the Patient Files, HIGHLY reccomend! Great characterization of him and his bond to Batman. Anyway sorry if I rambled here too much, I just liked that there was good Black Mask discussion going on.
Thank you! I haven't read through all of his comics either, I've just read most of his earliest ones and his more recent ones. I've still gotta go through a bunch more, which I'm not exactly looking forward to… Though the comic you brought up is making me wanna get back to it. I think that sounds really interesting, I wish there was an easier way to find specific comics because I'd love to read that.
I think it's a really interesting connection between the two there, especially since it's something Roman chose on purpose. I've been listening to the Batman Audio Adventures podcast recently, and the mythologizing of the Wayne family's tragedy coming through as repetitive, ghoulish 'true crime' programs really got to me. Roman, with his weird attachment to symbology and how it makes identity, co-opting that kind of tragedy would be a cool twist on it.
I think it's kinda weird how little his criminal pursuits relate to Bruce Wayne for a lot of his appearances, given that his origin story is so tied to him. It's like he completely forgot that Bruce Wayne embarrassed him and that he'd wanted him dead.
I think that his Patient File there is really neat! I think I'll watch a few more, I love how I looked it up and it immediately showed me that there's a Ventriloquist video. Gotta say, it seems really bad when a lot of the people in the comments are like 'wow thank goodness he's not just a torture guy'. My favorite parts are him talking about Gotham being a bad city, and that Batman is misguided in trying to make it good, and then the fun nudge at Jeremiah about his 'mask' looking a lot like Roman's. Wait, and the thing about Harvey being the most honest of them all, given he's got two equally true visible faces. I think that's really interesting and it makes me wish they'd interact (though maybe they did I'm not sure...) Thank you so much for sharing this stuff with me, I really like talking about characters with everyone!

howdy!! hope ya don't mind but for vanilla and sve bachelors, got any hcs for a farmer with a massive interest for entomology and generally all things creepy-crawly (so this includes worms, slugs and snails, arachnids, etc)? To where they tend to excitedly catch any little critter they can find to passionately tell their spouse a whole novel's worth of information of what they're holding, down to the taxonomy? ...Even if they happily explain that what they're currently holding in their bare hands is dangerous, and that bites and stings can be extremely painful, cause permanent damage, or even be deadly. - 🐇
Good to see you again, bunny anon ❤️ Thank you for the question, hope you and others enjoy some headcanons 😊 🫶
SDV and SVE bachelors react to Farmer who are into entomology, herpetology and other creepy creatures:
SDV bachelors:
Sam:
Ewww! But also wow!
Sam didn't understand a lot of the complicated terms and names that Farmer started showering the young musician with when telling him about the bug species, but Sam was still curious!
Man, it's so ugly and so cool at the same time!
(Is Sam allowed to touch it? Or at least take a picture of it?)
Although he will be a little worried when he finds out that a particular bug is poisonous. Sam will ask his lover not to hold this thing with their bare hands.
Scary, but it's still pretty cool!
Shane:
*deep breath* "Are you out of your fucking mind?"
Ok, that was rude of him, Shane didn't mean to insult his spouse in any way. But the fact that Farmer was holding a black snake with such a naive smile, saying it was deadly poisonous...
"You can tell about those creeping vipers without holding that fucking black snake in your hands!"
Well, he has no aversion to the rest of the creatures, especially the Farmer is so detailed and interesting about the same snails and worms.
They're even kind of cute.
But, for Yoba's sake, not deadly dangerous creatures!
Harvey:
When the Farmer told Harvey they wanted to show him a "cool snake they found," the doctor expected a harmless one. But not, by golly, a giant python!
And the fact that Farmer is holding the huge predator calmly in their hands as if they weren't talking about a dangerous creature, but a little puppy.
Despite the horror, Harvey is very admiring of Farmer's knowledge of herpetology.
But don't even ask Harvey to hold the snake in his hands. No thanks, he's not crazy.
Constantly worried about Farmer's health, because they already have a couple snake bites on their bodies.
Alex:
For all his love for Farmer, Alex would be a little skeptical of their hobby.
"Hon, are you sure it's okay to touch that? I don't think it's even safe to look at."
He suppressed the overwhelming urge to knock the creepy insect out of Farmer's hand, figuring he'd make it worse that way.
Didn't understand anything the Farmer was telling him, but it was still pretty interesting!
(As long as he doesn't hear the words "deadly", he's cool with his spouse's little weird hobby).
Sebastian:
In Sebastian's eyes, Farmer is the coolest person on the planet.
He is bothered by the fact that Farmer can hold very biting (and sometimes poisonous) spiders, but thinks their spouse knows what they are doing.
He loves to listen to Farmer for hours when they pick up a random worm or spider and start talking about these creatures in detail.
At times he will pick up a found crawling creature himself and ask the Farmer what it's called.
"Cool" - the most frequent word Farmer will hear from his spouse when they tells another story.
Elliott:
It took Elliott a lot of effort not to shriek in terror or faint.
He and his dear spouse walked through the woods and chatted about the weather until Farmer found a nest of live snakes. A whole nest with a dozen of the crawling critters, and the first thing Elliott's love of his live decided to do was to take the ball of snakes in their hands.
Unfortunately, the writer was too absorbed in his inner screaming to hear Farmer's interesting account of this species of snakes.
For Yoba's sake, tell him that the snakes in the Farmer's hands are not poisonous...
SVE bachelors:
Lance:
Lance is also an explorer of sorts, and although it's mostly about monsters, he's very interested in learning something new about the local fauna from his love.
That, however, does not prevent the adventurer from scolding his beloved Farmer for such a careless attitude to their own safety and health.
Lance will load the Farmer with vials of antidotes for poisonous snake and tarantula bites.
Maybe even cast a protective spell. And don't let the Farmer complain or grumble about it - Lance has every reason to worry about them.
He'll still be amazed at Farmer's deep knowledge.
Victor:
*Worried husband mode activated*
Victor is as amazed by the Farmer's intimate knowledge and their bravery as he is horrified by their utterly calm attitude towards the poisonous bug they have in their hands.
Wouldn't the Farmer rather put that bug back where they found it? So that, you know, Victor would stop worrying about the health of his precious spouse?
Still amazed at how accurately Farmer tells him about the classification of various reptiles and insects. Even his books don't go into that much detail, wow!
("Just don't get all the bugs and spiders in your bare hands again, please. Especially dangerous ones, okay, dear?")
Magnus Rasmodius:
"No. Not that. No, no, and no. NO."
Magnus uses magic to instantly teleport the bug that was in his lover's hands as far away as possible into the forest where the Farmer got the dangerous critter from.
A heavy scolding in three... two... one...
Magnus understands their passion, but they can also talk about this interesting fauna without putting his and their lives in danger.
He happens to have a book in his library describing the same snails, worms, beetles, and snakes. Only these creatures have magical properties.
Magnus will give them the book because of their fascination with the subject. But on the condition that his spouse will be a goody-goody and not look for trouble. Deal?

Vigilant Coffee
Batfamily x Reader Chapters AO3 AN; Wow, I've been gone for two whole weeks without a word. That is totally my bad, guys. If you're by chance wondering why I've been MIA I'm just going to say sickness and seasonal depression and hope that explains enough. lol Nonetheless, my pretties xoxo
8- Ex-DA Harvey Dent
It wasn’t often you ran into some of the most infamous Gotham villains, but when you did they seemed to be pretty chill with you. You didn’t tell Batman where they were, and, in return, they didn’t kill you. And they actually paid for their coffee which was a double win in your book.
Tonight, though, something interesting had happened.
After you had sent Robin off with yet another cup of hot cocoa, you were flipping through the pages of your textbook when the bell on the door rang. You didn’t bother to say your usual greeting as you knew it was probably Batman or some other vigilante based on the hour, and you were right that it was Batman. What you hadn’t expected was former DA Harvey Dent, now crimelord Two-Face, with him all tied up.
It should have rendered you speechless, but you were far too used to the nicely dressed ex-DA showing up at your job by himself that with Batman it seemed no different. He was one of the villains you liked the most as he was always sort-of kind towards you.
“Hi, Batman. Hi, Mr. Dent,” You said as you turned to pour Batman’s cup of coffee.
“Hey, kid,” Harvey said, grunting as Batman sat him down at an empty table. “You got any vodka back there? This bastard is givin’ me a headache.”
You giggled. It was his usual joke that had caught you off guard when you first met him. “And you think I would still be up here sober? Not on your life, old man.”
“You hear that Batman? Kids these days have no respect for their elders!” Harvey snickered.
Batman ignored him and handed you the cash for his coffee. When Two-Face complained about not getting anything, the black leather-wearing sweetheart ordered him a black coffee with cream and two sugars.
“Goin’ to Arkham or Blackgate this time, Mr. Dent?” You asked as you prepared his drink.
Harvey leaned back in his chair, looking as if he was thinking about his answer, then said, “I’m thinkin’ they’ll put me in Arkham, hon. Depends if I get a good lawyer or not.”
“Why don’t you ask that other half of yours’ to defend you, Two-Face? I think he might have some experience,” Batman mumbled, a ghost of a smile on his face.
Two-Face erupted with laughter that echoed off the walls of the coffee house. It sounded different, like a real laugh. He echoed the old, light-hearted DA  you had seen on the Gotham True Crime channels.
When he calmed, the room got quiet and he mumbled, “Sorry, Batman, but I don’t think he has it in him, anymore.”
You smiled sadly, knowing that it must be torture to have one half of you pulling at the other in some sick endless game of mental tug-of-war. When you handed Batman the drink, he seemed a lot gloomier than when he entered, and it kind of comforted you that there was still a human side to the mythic Dark Knight.
“I know I’ll see you soon, Mr. Dent,” You said. “Though, I suggest trying to give rehabilitation a shot.”
This time when he laughed, it was nearly demented. “It’s far too late for that, kid.”

champagne problems and party dresses:
everyone blame @lilfuturescars and @easilydistractedbyfanfic for this. they mentioned how there is so much context behind rivusa’s dynamic in s2 that we simply don’t have the answers to and well… my brain went brr. set in between s1 and s2, during summer break.
He sees her on a Saturday. He almost doesn’t recognize her because of the length of her hair. It’s shorter now, not in the long pigtails he’s used to seeing in the hallways.
She’s standing in the corner of the room, headphones on like always. She looks sad - almost pensive.
In all honesty he wasn’t expecting to bump into anyone from Alfea here, let alone Musa.
“Musa?” He asks as he walks up to her and she startles. She looks up at him and her frown deepens before she realizes what her face is doing. She plasters on the fakest smile directed at him that Riven has ever seen as she slips her headphones off.
“Hey Riven.”
“Wow. I think killing your dog would have gotten me a better reaction.” He mutters and she rolls her eyes at him.
She looks pretty - hair falling down her shoulders as she stands there. She’s in a sundress, black and red with straps that frame her shoulders nicely. Her makeup is simple but it’s clearly there which means she put effort in.
For a moment, Riven wonders why. Then he remembers that not everyone had the same disdain for their parents that he has.
“Your parents here?” He asks, looking around at all the stuff middle aged people who could potentially be related to the girl beside him.
“Dad, and yes. Yours?” She asks and Riven nods curtly. His dad is around somewhere, probably either schmoozing with other businessmen or flirting with their wives - neither of which Riven really wants to witness at the moment.
There’s a lull in the conversation, more than a lull if Riven’s being honest, it’s dead silent.
“You and Harvey still a thing?” He asks in lieu of anything better to say.
“Are you and Beatrix and Dane still a thing?” She asks in response and all Riven can think is: touchè.
They both nod at the same time and Riven finds himself watching the way Musa’s curls bounce up and down. With her hair shorter, she seems more free, but maybe that’s just the shitty hotel champagne.
Out of the corner of his eye he spots one of his Red Fountain friends and he turns to her again. “I’ll uh… see you later. Have fun, lonely girl.”
Musa snorts, raising an eyebrow at him. “Sure thing Damon Salvatore.”
“Vampire Diaries? Seriously?” He asks and she gives him the finger. He snickers to himself before walking away.
Maybe coming to this stupid party wasn’t a mistake.

Trip to a Coffee Shop; a Harvey, Scott & Mike Drabble
[Okay, not backing out of this one! It's a chill coffee shop AU, featuring Coffee Shop Owner Scott, Homeless Mike, and...Normal Harvey lmao. Some things don't change. Enjoy- or try to. @antvnger]
Harvey was in desperate need of coffee, something he forgot to get before he left home because he was in a hurry. There were back-to-back meetings and he had to see a judge later. He needed all the caffeine he could get.
His regular coffee shops were too far from the office and he didn’t want to get something from a cart this time. He walked down the sidewalk for fifteen minutes when he came across a shop he hadn’t seen before. Maybe it was always there and he just didn’t notice because he had other places.
Little Guy Cafe
An indie place. Harvey didn’t mind indie shops but there were times where the coffee was a hit or miss, and right now, he needed a hit. A strong, strong hit. He didn’t have much time to be picky, though. Whatever happened, happened.
When he entered the little shop, he was hit with whiplash. It was like he was transported back in time. The furniture was mismatched and appeared to be from an older person’s house. The wooden L-shaped counter seemed to be the cleanest, newest thing there.
“Are you just going to stand there or are you going to order something?” A man behind the counter asked.
Harvey was too busy taking everything in that he didn’t notice he was there. There was no uniform, just wore a deep red T-shirt and jeans. He did have a nametag, at least. Scott.
“Yeah, coffee,” Harvey finally said, stepping to the counter. “Black.”
“Where are your manners?” Scott asked, frowning, tone clearly offended.
“Are you kidding me,” Harvey replied, dryly.
Before Scott got the chance to respond, the door slammed open and a 20-something year old kid burst in. He was scruffy in every sense, from his hair to his clothes (which had some threads loose). Kid looked like he just finished running a marathon from how hard he was panting.
“Hey, hi, I need to borrow your counter,” the kid breathed out.
He didn’t wait for permission and ran over and went on his knees, keeping out of sight. It was at this moment Harvey knew he chose the worst time and coffee shop to walk into. Even Scott seemed uneasy by what just happened.
Not long after the kid came in, a man, a much bigger man also entered. It didn’t take Harvey or Scott long to put together the situation. Harvey glanced at Scott and gave a minute nod. Time to put on a show.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Harvey snapped. “You just let random kids run in, take your customers wallets, and then run out the backdoor? You ever hear of a goddamn lock?”
“Maybe next time don’t leave your wallet on the counter,” Scott scoffed, much more offended than before. “I doubt you need it anyway. Your tie probably costs more than my rent!”
Scott looked past Harvey as if he saw the other man for the first time. He looked twice as annoyed, if that was possible.
“Can I help you? I’m kinda busy right now.”
There was a moment of silence as the man took in everything that Harvey and Scott said. Kid, backdoor, new wallet, escape. In a nutshell. Eventually, the guy shook his head and started to back out.
“No, uh, no, thanks.”
He finally left. Harvey walked to the shop’s window and watched the guy run down the sidewalk. Little did he know the kid was still in the shop. Harvey waited until the guy disappeared into a crowd of people before moving back.
“Okay, kid. Danger’s gone.”
The kid hesitantly stood from his spot with the help of Scott. He looked between Harvey and Scott, smiling a bit sheepishly.
“Wow, thanks, guys,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “You two were great. You actually sounded annoyed.”
“I kinda was,” Harvey and Scott said simultaneously.
Harvey rolled his eyes and Scott shook his head. The kid’s smile grew a bit, clearly amused by their behaviour. He walked out from behind the counter, placing his hands in his pockets. Harvey noticed that his clothes were dirty.
“What did that guy want with you?” Scott asked curiously, tilting his head.
“I might’ve ripped him off from a drug deal.”
“Might’ve?” Harvey repeated.
“I ripped him off. I didn’t have a choice, it was the only way I could get money,” the kid tried to defend himself.
“If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, I’d be richer than I already am,” Harvey said. “You’re young, but not so young that you can’t get a job.”
“Uh, yeah, I’d get a job if I wasn’t homeless,” the kid replied indignantly, shifting his eyes to the floor.
Scott’s eyes softened considerably at that. “Hey, it’s okay.”
“And my ID is kinda…let’s just say, uh…” The kid was a stuttering mess. “Never mind. You don’t wanna know.”
“You’re right. I don’t want to know,” Harvey said. He started backing out. If he didn’t go now, he was going to get in too deep. “This is a waste of my time. Forget the coffee.”
Scott went from sympathetic to annoyed again. “You’re really just going to leave? Give the kid some money, you’re a walking bank.”
“None of this is my problem.”
“Unbelievable…”
Harvey Specter left the shop.
XXX
The next day at 11:00AM, Harvey went to Little Guy Cafe. He wasn’t surprised that, just like the day prior, there were no customers. It was just Scott behind the counter. He was cleaning a coffee mug when he noticed Harvey.
“Look who it is, the city’s greatest lawyer returns,” Scott said, sarcastically. “If you’re going to act like how you did yesterday, you can turn around and leave.”
Harvey didn’t know someone like Scott could be hostile, not that Harvey really knew him. The guy just seemed to have a friendly demeanour in general, and it was clearly a bad idea to cross him.
“I’ll have that coffee now. Like I said, black.” Harvey walked up to the counter, pulled out his wallet and placed a twenty on the counter. “Keep the change.”
Scott gave him a suspicious look, something Harvey couldn’t blame him for. He was doing his best to not act as condescending as yesterday. Not that he cared that much, but he really wanted his coffee.
Scott put the twenty in his till under the counter and started to work on Harvey’s coffee. While Harvey waited, he looked around the shop. For the first time, he noticed some photos on a shelf behind Scott.
“Let me ask you something, lawyer. You clearly only care about yourself, so why did you cover for Mike yesterday?”
Mike. So that was the kid’s name, good to know. Harvey shrugged at Scott’s question, crossing his arms on the counter.
“Did you see the guy looking for him? He was going to beat the shit outta the kid,” Harvey replied. “I didn’t need that on my conscience.”
“You have a conscience? Wow, who would’ve guessed.”
“It’s a small one.”
Scott snorted. “At least you’re self aware.” He finished Harvey’s coffee and passed it to him. He cleared his throat.
“Thank you,” Harvey said, dryly. “Now, has Mike been by?”
“No. I told him he could stay but he ran out as I was closing up shop,” Scott said, shaking his head. “I’m kinda worried about him. I know that’s probably a foreign concept for you.”
Harvey shrugged, took a long sip of his coffee. He hummed, satisfied. “Not bad, Scott.”
“Thanks,” Scott said, cracking a small smile. “I make some pretty good coffee.”
“That’s why this place is so full, huh?” Harvey said, sarcastically.
“Oh, man. You gotta work on your manners,” Scott scolded.
“I said thank you,” Harvey retorted.
“Yeah, but then you’ve been going back to being sarcastic,” Scott pointed out.
The door opened and Mike walked in, looking like a kicked puppy. He wore the same clothes as yesterday. Mike walked up to the counter and placed two twenty dollar bills on it.
“I’m sorry, Scott. The register was open and I just…acted on it. I couldn’t bring myself to spend it though. You were way too nice to me yesterday.”
Scott smiled, pushed the bills back to Mike. “You need it more than I do. I can easily earn it back.”
“With all these customers?” Harvey was back at his sarcasm, gesturing around the empty shop.
“Oh my god…”
Mike looked up at Harvey, smiling shyly. “Hi.”
“Hey. Listen, I-”
“It’s alright. You’re not the first person who’s brushed me off. Apology accepted.”
“What? No. I wasn’t going to apologize.”
Scott snorted.
Mike deflated. “Oh…”
“Yeah, we’re trying to work on his poor behaviour,” Scott cut in, winking at Mike.
“Why are you talking like I’m going to come back?” Harvey asked, stepping back suspiciously.
“You came back today,” Scott pointed out. “You could’ve gone somewhere better, yet you came here.”
“Scott’s right,” Mike agreed, standing straighter, smiling more broadly.
“Oh, no. I’m not getting involved with you two,” Harvey refused, scowling.
“Then go.” Scott waved his hand in a shooing motion. “But you’ll be missing out on some great coffee.”
“And great company,” Mike piped in.
“Annoying company,” Harvey corrected. “You know, I was going to give you a credit card to go buy some new clothes and get some dinner tonight. But now that you’re being so annoying…”
“Whoa! No, okay. I’m sorry,” Mike apologized quickly.
Harvey shook his head, did his best to hide a smile but couldn’t stop himself. Mike might’ve been one of those people really easy to please. Harvey reached into his pocket and searched through his wallet until he found the right card. He handed it to Mike.
Mike took it with hesitance, as if it was going to disappear or if it wasn’t real. He asked hesitantly, “Are you really sure?”
“I got more than enough money,” Harvey said casually. “Scott’s right, I'm a walking bank. I might as well try to hand it out once in a while. But don’t get used to it.”
“Thank you so much…” Mike struggled to find Harvey’s name.
“Harvey Specter,” Harvey provided. “Now go. Spend that money wisely.”
Mike smiled probably one of the happiest smiles Harvey’s ever seen. It gave him a strange, warm pang in his chest. He decided to not give it a name or pay much attention to it.
“Thank you so much, Harvey.”
“You already thanked me.”
Mike chuckled. “Grammy told me to show my gratitude as often as possible.”
“Just go. My chest can’t handle this.”
Mike furrowed his brows, clearly confused. He glanced at Scott, a silent request for an explanation. Scott shrugged, shook his head. He seemed just as confused, though Harvey had the feeling Scott was just putting on a show for Mike.
Mike finally left, going from confused to happy once again. When Harvey looked back at Scott, the guy was also smiling.
Harvey scowled. “What?”
“You just made that kid’s entire day,” Scott replied. “That was surprisingly nice of you.”
Harvey sighed deeply, starting to regret doing this. If he knew he’d be mocked for being nice, he would’ve kept being an asshole.
“Whatever. Don’t be so annoying about it.”
Harvey downed the rest of his coffee in one fell swoop. He exhaled deeply, satisfied.
“Alright, I’ve wasted enough time here. If I don’t leave now, my boss will have my head.”
Harvey turned and headed for the door when Scott called out to him.
“Hey, wait.” Scott tilted his head curiously. “Will you come back?”
“Probably not.”
Scott smiled. “Alright, I’ll see you later.”
Harvey rolled his eyes. “Goodbye, Scott.”
