Current complete section for my most recent (still incomplete) piece, since I'm still Big Sick and been unable to draw :(
like our protags, tho, I'm trying to allow myself a timeskip, to move forward with both it and also with recovery, too :3

MPC Empire Strikes Back Hoth Rebel Base build FINAL photoset November 4th, 2023
After seven years, this project is finally complete. I would get motivated, get bored, put it away, and take it back out again later.
So after I put down the decals on the X-Wings (again, I had scanned the decal sheet from the 1:72 Fine Molds X-Wing kit), I gave it a clear coat, brought out some of the detail with Tamiya's Dark Gray Panel Line Accent Color before dirtying them up with artist chalk and a little bit of a Gundam Real Touch marker. I used some artist oil to add some extra streaks on the Falcon and then I was all done. Here are detail shots.

For the "new recruits," I chose not to stress the red stripe decals. Now here are some shots of the Transport.

And the Falcon.

The base is just an upside-down sushi tray, and I installed a rocker switch that is powered by a 9V battery underneath. I painted the surface of the base Ankoku Black by Turner Acryl Goache, which is a light-absorbing black paint. It doesn't completely remove all reflected light, but it greatly diminishes it.

Hey, I love your work. I saw that you were talking about trying to finish more works instead of starting new ones. I’ve been struggling with this hardcore for a while now, and I was wondering if you’ve found anything that helped you? If you don’t have any advice that’s okay, I hope u have a great day ^__^
its an ongoing problem for me, made worse by the fact that i have several creative hobbies (writing, digital art, oil painting, crochet, gundam models..) but its helped me to prioritize which projects mean the most to me and practice a bit of self control when it comes to sitting down and working.
its good to have ideas, but even better to jot them down as soon as they come so you can get them out of your head and free up that creative headspace.
i also deal with this differently depending on the hobby. writing and digital art are my highest priorities, so if i have a 'main' writing project that im serious about finishing its mostly about building a habit of working on it regularly. if im stumped or the creativity isnt flowing its actually good to have my other backburner projects to work on for a little bit, but i always make sure to come back to the main story. having playlists for my different stories helps a lot for when i need help switching into a specific headspace.
for art, these days im usually working on multiple paintings at once, but i deal with this by making them into 'sets', so theres cohesivity and i can work on them at the same time. that way i can express multiple ideas in a shorter time frame because theres already a link in theme / color / subject.
planning my day around my priorities helps too. i work best when i draw from noon-evening and write into the night. or crochet while im resting / watching a stream / before bed. in general i just like having a plan for the day - it keeps me focused.
yeah. it can get overwhelming, but if you take the time to sort out which projects mean the most to you and go from there you might see that its actually refreshing and invigorating to have different projects. as long as you practice self restraint where it matters ^^;

SD Gundam World Heroes: Caesar Legend Gundam
Seems like I forgot to post this a couple of weeks ago...
For a change of pace I got a few gunpla kits to paint and build. The smaller kits are not even terribly expensive, and while they are considered lower-end, you're still getting rather high-quality plastic parts (and a lot of them). Gunpla are also designed to look good whether you just use the provided stickers for selected details or paint everything on or both.
Mechas are different from most fantasy/wargaming miniatures because you're usually trying to paint very crisp lines instead of smooth blends. It's probably why a lot of people use masking tape and airbrush or paint markers for better control.
Here I've only used stickers for the green parts, the silver bit at the top of the helmet crest (because it covers the gap between the two halves), and some of the red on the chest (though I painted over it); otherwise all the paint is brushed on freehand. I tried using a marker but my oil-based silver marker wasn't going to play nice with acrylic paint.
Another thing about these colored plastic kits is getting the paint to stick; spraying a coat of clear varnish as a primer seems to work.

I've wanted a set of metal, analog Vernier calipers ever since I saw a demonstration of how to use them way back in I guess freshman year.
I gravitated toward the SD models because I like the lighter aesthetic and fun details, and I had a couple of them growing up; here's one:

I don't have the instruction sheet anymore so the pieces are how I dug them out from the bin, lol. I couldn't find all the parts to the other one and I think I never had all the pieces to begin with.
