I was embarrassingly cringe fist-pumping and laughing with superiority to hear these lines, even though they aren't exactly rocket science concepts that I reverse-engineered here, y'know?
It’s how it’s supposed to go. Some gonk kid dies in Nicaragua and Johnny Silverhand wakes up in NUSA. Built– just like the tower. An entire fucking spectacle, for the world to see. For the world to wake up.
Just... it's good to confirm that that's how Johnny sees it too. The person he used to be died, and then he became someone else. But then he died again, so I wonder sometimes... how does he see himself now? How many resurrections is he going to live through?

I love watching villian/antag enjoyers (as an enjoyer myself) especially in BG3 because sometimes people really dig for a reason to excuse the actions of bad people.
Like Gortash. The man I wish to throw into a wall and watch splat like those sand filled stress toys because I hate him with every fiber of my being (but also adore).
I love him as a villain/antagonist, and I treat him as such.
But I feel like a lot of people try to frame him as a sympathy antag because of his backstory. When in my experience (and opinion), for a villain to be sympathetic the backstory must be a focal point of the character.
Nowhere does Gortash monologue about his history; and it is all things found by digging and finding things that are easily missed by the game. He never quotes it as a motivation. He is merely a little fuck because he wants to be to some extent.
Not saying his history is not a factor, but personally I don’t think it was intended to be interpreted as a sympathy thing. Just a fun little tidbit for people to overanalyze and look into. But not as an excuse for what he does.
I feel the same way about Orin and Durge.
Realistically, Ketheric would be the sympathy antagonist of the group. Since his relationship with Isobel and downfall is something he can and will talk about if prompted. He is meant to make the audience feel a little bad, even if he is just as bad as the others in the dead three to an extent.
Gortash and Orin don’t - do that. They just to seem to be bad people for the sake of it, even if they had a reason with their histories and traumas.
Not that I care what the hell people do. I just like running my mouth, and pretending I somehow know better than everyone else.
I am all for people exploring dynamics and concepts, and using these things as they wish. I just have a deeply rooted need to ring a loud incorrect buzzer constantly and chatter for no reason.
Feel free to ignore the mad ramblings of a random ass person. Just like throwing my thoughts into the void.
