I think people need to tell more kids that they're proud of them for graduating high school. I'm absolutely dead serious, especially now. I can see the graduating high schoolers surrounding me right now are burned out and traumatized and depressed, and they've undoubtedly had a much, much harder time in high school than I ever had, and I had some pretty shitty high school experiences.
I graduated high school with no more acknowledgement than the standard "congrats on surviving another year of school!" And immediately followed by "have you finished all your scholarship applications?" That was fine for me. I knew i wanted to go to college, I was set and ready for it, eager to get out of high school into more challenging courses.
But if I just finished high school after two years of fighting through online courses and no one acknowledged the battles I went through? If I was as burnt out and traumatized as these kids are right now? I'd have never have gone to college.
So for everyone graduating high school, even if you barely scraped by passing: I see you. I'm proud of you. You did such a good job. I wish you success in what you try to do, fortune enough to keep you safe and happy, and health always.
Because if space really is the place, consider them well on their way. En route, if you will. The following 12 mighty fine folk only went and graduated from NASA's astronaut school. They are now ready and set, suited and booted, to head up into that big old mysterious blanket above and see what's good. Perhaps they will bring y'all a souvenir.
In the meantime, may we introduce you to the people who put the rad in graduation. Nay, who put the ace in space.

I was talking to my friend from high school. We were talking about graduating college and future plans and the funny prank she pulled in 9th grade where pretended to die. Upon waking up, I remembered that it wasn’t a prank.
Our newest class of astronaut candidates graduated on March 5, 2024. This means they’re now eligible for spaceflight assignments to the International Space Station, the Moon, and beyond! In the next twelve posts, we’ll introduce these new astronauts.

4 months left until graduation. 4 months before becoming a doctor :)) Life is rough and exhausting. Everyone is so stressed out and suspicious since they aren’t enough places for all of the students. I might chose internal medicine.
I try to stay out of this toxic environnement. I hate competition.
I hope you guys are doing good. May we all be walking safely and peacefully towards our goals.
Kyoto University is the second oldest Japanese university and one of the top-ranked in all of Asia. It's widely considered one of the most prestigious and serious places to study in Japan. Kyoto itself is known for its traditional aesthetic, but Kyoto University students have an unorthodox tradition: cosplaying at their graduation.
I officially graduated college yesterday and now have a degree in Conservation Biology! With my graduation, posts will hopefully become more regular so Animal of the Day will return tomorrow.
