THE DEVIL TO MY ANGEL MASTERLIST

If there was one thing that the siblings liked and was their registered brand with whoever knew them, was their passion for coffee. Every day after their classes they would stop at a coffee shop that was between their language course and house. This day just happened for them to find Carlos and Kuri already ordering for themselves.
"Kuri! Carlos!" (y/n) jumped between them, hugging them by their neck, since she was smaller than them, both went forward, making the four laugh. "You guys are just casually walking by, or planned to meet us here after our class?"
"Well, sort of both" Carlos said with a smile while Kuri went to say hello to Adam. "What you guys usually order here?"
"Hallo (y/n)! Das Übliche für dich und deinen Bruder?"
Jonas, the cashier of the coffee shop asked as soon as (y/n) and Carlos stopped talking. Jonas was another regular good looking german. (y/n) couldn't and wouldn't say otherwise, but unfortunately that's all it was, his blue eyes and slick back blond hair were definitely part of his charm, but the girl had already gotten used to the handsome man in Germany. Jonas was definitely a sight for sore eyes, but nothing more than that. He was a nice guy, always friendly and eager to please the girl and whoever was with her, Adam had realized that early on, but the girl still thought he was just being nice and thoughtful of his costumers.
"Yah! Danke Jonas" she said smiling to the boy who couldn't help but stare at her, which didn't go unnoticed by both Carlos and Kuri, who quickly changed a little of their posture. "I need to go to the bathroom; can you pay Adam? I'll give you the money later?"
Adam just nodded and (y/n) went towards the bathroom in a hurry, she was having cramps for two days now and on her way to the café she felt something snap. Luckily the stalls were open, only a woman inside the bathroom fixing her makeup. The girl closed the stall's door and took a deep breath just hoping that her clothes were still intact and she wouldn't need to put them under hot water as soon as she arrived home.
"Oh, thank God" she said under her breath, her period had arrived, but luckily, on small dosages at first. She wasn't as prepared, so all she has on her purse was a single pad, after a couple of minutes she walked out of the bathroom like nothing had happened, but with clear relief on her face. "How much do I own you?"
(y/n) sat down between her brother and Kuri, Carlos in front of her. They were all laughing at something, stopping once she arrived, making her exchange looks before falling on the weakest link.
Niclas Kuri.
"Why you looking at me like that?"
"Why did you guys stopped talking once I arrived?" She could see him exchanging looks with the other boys. "What did I do that made you guys laugh so much but not tell me?"
"It's nothing" he said lowering his head, Jonas appeared on her perimeter vision with all their coffees, this time, (y/n) noticed the small smiles and exchange looks between the three boys, that was when she realized and started laughing as soon as Jonas got away from their table. "Why you laughing?"
"Don't tell me Adam put you guys up to the 'Jonas has a crush on (y/n)' thing!" She crossed her arms on her belly and the boys just exchanged looks holding a laugh. "Oh my God, how many times will you keep pushing that button?"
The siblings looked at each other talking with their eyes, Adam sigh and focused on his sister.
"You are beautiful, you caught guys attentions and you know that, it's just funnier when it's obvious and you don't give a single fuck about them, and yet, instead of being rude you are still nice and polite and they keep thinking they have a shot, that's all"
"Now you are making me sound like a mean person" (y/n) said under her breath, the other two boys just observing the siblings argue "plus, it's neither my fault or his that he's not my type, subsequently, I'm not attracted to him"
"Who is your type then?" Carlos looked at her while taking a sip of his coffee. "I mean, he clearly memorized your go to coffee and Adam's, we" he pointed to Kuri who was just observing with a side smile "have been coming here for ages and he still hasn't memorized ours..."
"Look, what you guys want me to say? He is definitely handsome, but that's it, I'm not interested in anything else with him"
"Then with whom?" Adam was just waiting for that moment and (y/n) could sense it in the air. Kuri and Carlos took another sip of their coffee while the siblings shared looks between 'You were just waiting for the chance, weren't you?' and 'Got you little sister'. "I mean, you did say with him, which makes me question if you have someone in mind dear sister..."
"Why you so interested in that, dear brother?"
The table went silenced as the siblings took a sip of each one's coffee.
"I'd just like to see if the guy is decent, but for you not be saying anything, makes me think if I know him"
Carlos and Niclas were observing the whole thing as if it were a movie in front of them. Adam had a cocky while looking at his sister, who was just looking cynical to the brother.
"Why is everyone interest if I have a crush on someone these past few days? It's you, Tim, Nils, Bene, Luis, even Carlos here!" The boy was surprised for a moment to hear his name, but kept observing the siblings dialogue. "If I want to be with someone, I'll be with someone and that's it, if I find someone you will meet him eventually, now can we not talk about it anymore?"
(y/n) let her body sink onto the chair as her arms pressed a little more on top of her belly. The boys realized that and quickly apologized, except for Adam that kept looking at the girl.
"Want hot chocolate?"
Her eyes were focused in front of her, on her – now empty – cup of coffee. She felt her brother slightly kick her from under the table, taking a small smile from her alongside a nod. He raised his arm and one of the waiters came quickly to take the order and leaving quickly after, bringing questioning looks from Niclas e Carlos.
"That simple for you guys to make amends?"
"If only for me and my brother were that simple" Carlos said sitting straight, putting his empty cup at the table. "So, what are your plans for today?"
"I'm going to the gym in a bit, just need to get some things at home, you guys?"
"We weren't planning anything, so we can go with you, I have the gym stuffs in my car, I can drop you guys at home"
Carlos and Adam nodded and started to talk about something else when the hot chocolate (y/n) had asked arrived and she moved a little to take it, but her pain face didn't go unnoticed by Kuri.
"You ok?" He asked low enough so just she would listen to, she just nodded taking a sip of the drink. "You going to the gym with us?"
"Nah, just stay at home watching something on tv"
"Are you hurt?" She looked at him confused, while the other two noticed their conversation and looked at Kuri waiting for him to continue. "You are really quiet and seems like you are in pain, that's all"
They were all silent for a while. (y/n) drank the rest of her hot chocolate starting to feel like the cramps where better, mostly she knew it was psychological, but it was better for now.
"My period came and I'm having cramps, so it's better if I just stay at home, the first three days are the worst for me" the boys all nodded and Adam asked if she was done so they could go. "Yeah, let me just go down the cashier to pay"
"You are not going anywhere" Kuri said before getting up his chair and get (y/n) on his arms bride style. "You are in pain, as far as I know, sometimes you girls can't even walk, so I'm taking you to the car like this"
(y/n) tried to convince the boy not to do it, but he was already on his way to Carlos' car while Adam went to the cashier, where Jonas was there looking at her with the boys.
"Guys, I have to pay!"
"I'll pay sis, don't worry! Kuri take her to the car"
"Yes sir!" Both german boys kept walking towards the opening of the shop, bringing curious eyes to them. "What are they looking at?"
"You are taking me bridal styles Kuri, what do you expect?"
"What you people looking at, she's my fiancé!"
He screamed making even more people laugh, the girl hid her face on his neck, Carlos was already opening the back door of his car.
"Put me down, I can get inside by myself" she said under laughs, Kuri went in the back seat with her, Adam quickly coming over and entering the passenger seat, Carlos already turning on the car. "How much do I own you, bro?"
"All you have to do is control your PMT" the girl hit him, making everyone laugh as Carlos started to go towards the siblings building. "That is included on that list!"
Adam said laughing looking from over his shoulder to (y/n) who kept a grumpy face all the way to their apartment.
Tumblr media
JACOB
hey, you busy?
(Y/N)
nop, just laying in bed
watching tv and eating
why?
JACOB
I found out when I'm going back
(Y/N)
what?! when?!
JACOB
next week
(Y/N)
ok, I'm gonna organize everything
to be in Berlin or Frankfurt
JACOB
you sure it's ok?
(Y/N)
yeah, I told you already
JACOB
the boys said that you were ill...
(Y/N)
It's just my period, no big deal
I'll be fine by next week (:
JACOB
Oh
ok, see you next week then
I'll let you watch your tv and
eat your candies
(Y/N)
no, I like talking to you, also
who told you I was eating candy?
JACOB
your brother really likes to roast you
(Y/N)
I knew it...
Both kept talking for a while longer. (y/n) had quickly realized, as the time was passing, that, even with Adam moving away by the end of the month, she didn't wanna leave Germany. She had found such lovely people there and the boys had always been so nice and caring towards her. Somehow, they even made her start a TikTok account that already had a significant number of followers, most of it, thanks to the boys and all the collabs they did.
JACOB
I got a surprise for u
(Y/N)
what? no!
I don't like surprises…
JACOB
how? everyone likes surprises!
also... the surprise is all of the best!
this is a good one, I'm sure
you will like it
(Y/N)
omg... but wait...

When it will arrive it?
JACOB
Adam did warn me
not to say anything.
" These boys..."
(Y/N) @ german guys + siblings
@ BRO please tell me you guys
aren't really surprising me
NILS @ german guys + siblings
told you guys @ JACOB would
tell her about it
There was a whole commotion on the group, it was mainly the rest of the boys annoying Jacob, because he couldn't keep it a secret.
Y/N @ german guys + siblings
he didn't tell me what it is tho
BRO @ german guys + siblings
it doesn't matter
it'll probably arrive when we
arrive there
Y/N @ german guys + siblings
we?
who are we?
LUIS @ german guys + siblings
wish I could say it would be us, but
PHIL @ german guys+ siblings
soon it will be
The doorbell of the sibling’s apartment started to rang like crazy and all (y/n)
wanted at the moment was to kill whoever was at the door, but instead, she found a
HUGE basket with all the possible chocolates and candies existing in the world, with three bottles of wine and... Could also see some medication for her cramps?
"SURPRISE!" Behind the basket was Nici, with his camera phone focused on her. Suddenly all the pain and anger she was feeling, vanished, being followed by a burst of emotions. "I ended up arriving with the delivery per..." Nici stopped talking as soon as he's attention went to (y/n) who was crying slightly while looking and holding the basket. "You didn't like it? It's ok we can return it..."
She cut him off by putting the basket at a table close by and coming back to hug
him, smiling and with her face red filled with tears.
"Thank you" her voice was low, but she knew he had heard her, as his arms closed firmly around her, she then took a deep breath, "thank you guys, truly!"
This time her voice was a little louder, so the phone could capture. She stepped away
from the hug and back inside towards the basket the boys had given here, although (y/n) realized Nici was still recording, she couldn't help but smile and try to identify as much as possible, what the boys had put inside of it for her. She went to the living room with the basket, Nici behind her with a huge smile on his face.
"Should we do a photoshoot?" He was smiling at her, but she looked a little skeptical. "What?"
" I spent the whole afternoon in bed, I looked like a homeless person..."
"You are in pain and on your period, and you are still beautiful, even though you may not believe" he got closer to her still smiling. She looked at herself again before focusing on Nici again. "Also, wasn't you that said that if you were to ever become famous, you would show yourself without being fully produced, makeup and hair in place, the whole show?"
"Yes, but..." Nici's eyes were still fixed on her. "What do I have to lose, right?"
He celebrated and (y/n) laughed while the boy got his phone and focused on her, who was trying her best to hold a laugh, while trying to look cute. The boy led her towards the living room so he could take some pictures of her showing a little more of the basket and of (y/n)'s smile.
They heard the voices before the unlocking of the door, she tried to get up to greet everyone, but Nici was so into the photoshoot idea that she would feel bad to make him stop.
"What are you doin' with my sister?"
Adam's voice came with a serious of laughs and a bunch of guys who quickly came towards her on the couch. (y/n) saw Nici hand his phone to someone she has yet not seen. He had a shaved head, blue eyes, lots of tattoos and although he looked scary, he smiles widely to her while taking lots of pictures of all of them.
As soon as the photos stopped, the girl hugged and thanked every single one of the boys, going then toward the new comer with a shy smile.
"I'm (y/n), nice to meet you..."
He shook her hand with a small smile.
"I'm Fabien, the boys weren't kidding when they said you were beautiful"
Her cheeks burned a little, when he went to apologize, she shook her head and smiled at him.
"Thank you, for the comment and to be a part of this" she pointed to the basket and the boys, meaning all the pictures he had taken of them. "They told me that you also participated on the process of making the bosket and everything, so... Thank you"
Tumblr media
"WHAT WAS THAT?"
"WHAT THE FUCK?"
"WAIT, HOW?"
"PLAY THAT AGAIN!"
(y/n) tried to hold a laugh with the guys reaction of the first scene in the "The Boys" series, some of them had already seen it and accompanied (y/n) into watching the others reactions. The boxes of pizza they had ordered were almost empty, like all the beer cans and one wine bottle from the basket they made to (y/n). She turned the scene back and kept watching their reaction, she knew they would like the series, the fact that some of them had seen it before only made her more eager to see the reaction they would have from the first 15 minutes of episode 01.
Her phone rang just when the episode ended. The call was from Luis, she stopped the second episode before it started. As soon as the screen loaded, she saw Louis, Tim, Bene and Jacob. Her face lit up as soon as all four boys screamed her name with smiles on their faces. All the other boys gathered to be in camera angle of the call.
While everyone said "hi", the girl got up from the couch, towards the kitchen. She saw Adam follow her, while she heard the boys joke with each other in german.
"I bet that if I had to leave today, you wouldn't mind one bit"
"Is it jealous I sense in your voice, dear brother?" She poured herself some water, looking sideways towards Adam. "You know I would still miss you right?"
"Oh, is that so little sis?"
"Of course, who else could I annoy mercilessly and they would still be there
for me if I ever needed it?"
"I can count at least nine," both exchanged looks, but Adam's was a 'smartass' type of look, while (y/n)'s was annoyed "but I'm sure that at least one would stay regardless"
"And there you are again..."
"You are the blind one here sis"
Adam got a few more cans of beer and some bags of chips, being copied by his sister, but instead, she got a few of the chocolates from the basket and a medication
for her cramp that was returning.
"Do you guys have a stomach or a black whole?"
"You still asking that, even after that weekend at my house?"
Tim said looking at her from the camera, Bene followed him before (y/n) could say
anything.
"That way you just hurt our feelings more and more (y/n/n)"
"You guys are such drama queens"
She set down besides Phil, who had her phone in hands. As soon as she crossed her legs, the pain of a thousand knives was felt on her lower belly, she couldn't stop her face and soon heard Jacob's voice and some of the boys look worryingly at her.
"You ok? What happened?"
"It's just cramps, my medication worn-out, I took a new pill, but it takes a while to take effect." Phil handed the phone to Kuri, who was behind (y/n) on the couch.
"Phil, where you going?"
Everyone was silent.
They could hear movement in the kitchen, some of the boys got up and followed the path Phil had just done. When the girl heard the microwave, she had a small smile and a confused looked. Even Adam didn't know the trick, how could Phil? Not long after, all the boys came back, Phil had a few small towels in hand.
"I have a sister and I, sometimes, observe"
"You texted your sister, didn't you?" Carlos said laughing, and Phil only nodded. "I
KNEW IT!"
"I can give it to you so you could put where it hurts, so you'd feel more comfortable" he said low enough that only the two of them and Kuri heard. (y/n) lifted part of her shirt, indicating where to put it. The blonde boy nodded and put it on top of the mere of her sweats. "Is here ok?"
She just nodded and held everything in place, putting her shirt on top of – what she was now sure it was – rice wrapped firmly in towels and warm from the few seconds inside the microwave. He was still close to her, so she tenderly gave him a small kiss on the cheeks, she realized the whole room went silent, and even though she could feel her cheeks burn and stomach flip, she kept a serene pose, or so she hopped it looked that way.
"Thanks Phil, and say thank you to your sister for me."
Everyone laughed, she could see Phil's cheeks go red, making the green of his eyes popped more. She just laid down, trying to be more comfortable. Kuri's left arm was on the couch, almost touching her shoulder. Another wave of pain hit her, less painful this time, (y/n) felt Kuri adjust himself and pulling her slightly towards him.
Her head was on his chest, so she looked to her right, finding him looking down at her.
"Feel better?"
"If you start having some pain or any stop of blood flow, let me know"
Both laughed and (y/n) looked at her group of friends again with an even
bigger smile on her face.
Tumblr media
JACOB
still awake?
(Y/N)
yeah
was just talking to
my mom.
you?
any reason why you
are still up?
The "typing" word was coming and going, (y/n) giggled a little, but caught herself biting her bottom lip. She then opened her instagram. The photo dump from that night was her most recent post, the smile only grew bigger.
Two pictures of her with the basket.
Three with all the mess the boys did when they arrive to the apartment.
One of the "The Boys" opening.
One of all the food and alcohol they had.
Three screenshots of the call the Frankfurt boys made with all of them appearing – somehow – on the picture.
(y/n) was about to lock her phone to try to sleep, a new notification from her conversation with Jacob popped up.
JACOB
excitement about going
back to Germany and
the new projects.
(Y/N)
new projects? Can you
tell me more?
JACOB
not yet haha
(Y/N)
mean Jacob
JACOB
I just don't want to
ruin the surprise!
(Y/N)
fine, but only if I am
one of the first you tell
JACOB
Always
(y/n) only then realized how big was her smile and how every part of her body seemed like it was numb. She did her best to push away all the things that were
dancing on her mind. She unlocked the phone finding their conversation still there,
Jacob still online.
(Y/N)
I'll get back to you on that
thank you Jacob, for everything
sleep well
good night ♡
The last thing she saw was the blue notifications, meaning he had read it. She turned the phone into 'no disturbing mode' before trying her best to sleep, even with all the thoughts that were crossing her mind and the urge to unlock her phone and check her messages.

I just had the most incredibly cursed yet hilarious thought. So Hetalia Axis Powers, except Romano is the main Italy and Veneziano is just Veneziano, and Gilbert is Germany and Ludwig is Prussia. Everything is chaos and Japan is so done.

the only german I know is 'und das ist nicht gut bruder' and that's concerning
2 notes · View notes
I really wanna hear Neil and co. speak German. So have some German hcs
"Neil was fluent in German" and I think that's very sexy of him. I bet he doesn't really have an accent because he probably had to stay stealth in Europe and therefore perfected his accent. But I think if you listen closely you might hear how he still slightly struggles with our R and CH.
He can do a Swiss accent, which is hilarious.
I'd love it if he used Austrian words instead of the German versions! (I'm Austrian, let me have this) Imagine Neil addressing a rude reporter with "Oida" cause he's just done with them.
Dan asks him to translate that but he somehow can't find a good translation for it. (Because I can't)
I am aware that he doesn't know memes but "Bruder, muss los" (basically Ight I'mma head out) is his entire situation.
Nicky would call him "Dicka/ Digga" (dude) cause they're jocks.
And I'm begging for Neil to call Drew "Schatz" (darling; lit. treasure) just ONCE. He'd get a glare in return but I feel like Andrew would secretly gay panic.
Nicky's accent would be good, pure high German, since he's studied it for a long time and Erik gave him good experience. I bet they love hearing each other speak German and Erik is super supportive.
S*x happens in English tho because German dirty talk sounds DISGUSTING.
Der/die/das Nutella? They start fighting and betting until they think to ask Erik, who doesn't know it either but joins in on the discussion because he's highly opinionated on the topic. They're yelling, team bonds are being destroyed. The other Foxes think they've finally lost it.
Neil refuses to say "Schulz". Andrew considers breaking up with him about this but has a reputation to uphold so he pretends to dislike that rule as well.
Erik would show Nicky the movie "Schuh des Manitu" to culture him and they'd jam to The Superperforator Commercial because it is indeed a timeless bop.
Aaron and Andrew definitely have an accent. Apparently they have strong vocab because they use big words. I can imagine them struggling with articles and grammar tho. Andrew not so much because of his eiditic memory ofc.
Aaron wonders why tf "bitte", "so!" and "tja..." are being used in so many different contexts.
Nicky keeps a list of strange German words like Handschuhe (gloves, lit. hand shoes) and Kabelsalat (lit. cable salad) because he finds them funny.
One day Aaron behaves unusually upset and when Nicky asks him about it he says that he's mad that Haribo does NOT make him happy. Nicky joins in on being upset now. Andrew is in the back eating Haribo, unimpressed. The artificial flavours hit different that day.
manic!Andrew will directly translate German expressions like "How much clock is it?" or even worse "This is sausage to me". It annoys everyone. Most of all me.
Aaron mixing up the ways to say Why. When do you use which one? Ugh screw it, just say "warum".
When is it ss and when is it ß? Do it randomly, it is now süss and müßen (technically not wrong but you sound like a boomer)
Neil: Paradeiser (Austrian word for tomato)
Andrew: Tomate (German word for tomato)
Neil: -.-
Andrew: nobody fucking says Paradeiser ketchup!
Neil: Erdapfel (potatoe)
Andrew: that sounds horrible. It's Kartoffel.
Neil: Gelse (mosquito)
Andrew: it's Mücke
Neil: okay but get this... Polster (pillow)
Andrew: I will murder you
Nicky calling the shorter foxes Knilch, Schlingel and other cute, stupid expressions for which he gets ignored. Once he says "Füchschen" (little fox) to Andrew and that's when he snaps :)
"Stop! It all stays as it is, whether you're here or not!", Nicky yells. Neil looks very tired. It's one of these rare moments, in which he makes eye contact with Aaron and in that second, only that second, they feel a deep connection based on shared inner pain.
Anybody could be Manuel Neuer at this point and it is driving them crazy.
Aaron messes up and says "schwul" (gay) instead of "schwül" (humid) and Nicky laughs really hard at him.
Whenever one of them uses the Dativ instead of Genitiv the others immediately jump in and correct him. "It's wegen+Genitiv, you moron!!"
German jam sessions in the car on their way to Columbia. "Ich muss durch den Monsun, hinter die Welt" and "Du sitzt im Maserati Mercedes und siehst aus wie ein Loser", throw in some Trailerpark and Bausa too. They have a whole playlist with different artists and all the iconic songs. Kevin is suffering, as always.
Something is in the street and one of the boys yells "umfahren!" (run it over/ drive around it) but Nicky doesn't know which one is meant so they awkwardly swerve while screaming.
Aaron knows that German anime openings are the best. One piece, Digimon, you name it. They use anime as a form of confrontational therapy for Kevin. The two of them would watch an anime in Japanese with German subtitles.
Nicky once accidentally addressed manic!Andrew with "Sie" (formal you) instead of "du" (informal you) and Aaron would mock him going "Ihr" (very formal you) and "Eure Majestät" (your majesty) so Andrew is like "That's right, Riko can leave, I'm king now", which actually gets a little laugh out of Aaron. Nicky is really happy that they had a brief bonding moment.
"Alles bäm?", Nicky asked. In that moment Neil could've sworn he was back on German soil with his mom, drinking the clearest water, while making his way down to Stuttgart. "Läuft", he responds blinking tears away. He hadn't thought anything besides torture could make him cry.
Aaron calls Riko "Hurensohn" (son of a bitch; very common insult) once and at some point teaches Kevin how to say it.
Andrew's famous "That doesn't mean I wouldn't blow you" (Das heißt nicht, dass ich dir nicht einen blasen würde) in German sounds kinda nasty imo. But Neil's shocked "You like me?" (Du magst mich?) is honestly pretty cute.
When they're in Germany Erik once makes a stupid reference "Warum liegt da Stroh?" (Why is there straw lying around?), which is a porn reference that somehow everyone in Germany knows, even if they haven't watched it. He is surprised when, of all people, Aaron is the one who reacts with "Why are you wearing a mask?", who now has to hastily explain that in high school German class someone mentioned it and he wanted to know what it meant so he unwisely looked it up.
Erik sends Kinder Surprise Eggs to Andrew to earn his trust.
Nicky makes up stupid German sayings. "You know in situations like this they say This is really flipping my pancakes right now but at least the pigs fly high". Neil thinks it sounds fishy but doesn't know for sure because German expressions are weird so he doesn't say anything. The others just have to believe it. One day Andrew brings it up in front of Erik to impress him but Erik just blinks at him in confusion. Andrew is angery. Nicky has to hide for the rest of the day.
+Bonus
Matt finds their German conversations very fascinating and asks for a few words. Neil makes him say "Eichhörnchen" (squirrel) but Matt fails miserably.

Little Germany: If you're so smart why do you have a stick up your ass?
Austria: E-excuse me!?
Little Germany: Prussia says you have a stick up your ass. Smart people wouldn't have a stick up there.
Austria: I-- uh--
Austria: Hungary, help me out here!
Hungary: *dying of laughter*
Little Germany: How did the stick get up there, bruder?
Austria: I. I don't know how to answer this.

Oh Brother
Paring: GerEng
Rating: T
Word Count: 815
“You’ll be fine.”
“What are you talking about?” England barked.
Germany gave him a small smile, taking hold of the Brit’s hands. “Your hands are shaking a little, you’re nervous.”
England huffed, turning back towards the door and pulling away one of his hands to knock. It wasn’t long before they were greeted by the familiar face of Prussia, with his usual, prideful grin. “Took you two long enough,” He quipped, stepping away from the door to let the two lovers in. Despite the welcoming atmosphere and the cheerful voice of their host, England couldn’t help but feel something was off. That, someone, was watching him. Germany gave his hand a squeeze most likely picking up on his uneasiness.
They were led to the dining room where a dinner of sausages, schnitzel, potato salad, and more awaited them. “You really went all out,” Germany commented as they took their seats. “Nothing but the best for my brother...and his boyfriend,” Prussia mused. The dark look in his eye told something different though it only seemed to be the only one to see it. Since Germany didn't notice, England just brushed it off, chalking it up to nerves playing tricks on him.
As they ate, Prussia asked them questions, most of them surrounding their relationship. “Okay, okay. Arthur made the first move, but what about the kiss? You guys have kissed right?” Prussia asked, clearly getting into this.
Germany rolled his eyes. “Really Bruder?”
“Come on West, I missed all the good stuff. Plus, that’s what older siblings are for: advice and being nosy.”
Normally England would be uncomfortable with all these questions, but the reaction Germany had to each one more than made up for it. “We have kissed,” Arthur interjected, “And before you asked I kissed him.”
“Yeah, when you were drunk and I was unsuspecting.”
Prussia let out a laugh, “How romantic. You confess and have your first kiss when drunk. Sounds like Arthur though.”
“Hey watch it,” England growled, his previous uneasiness long forgotten. The rest of the dinner went along just like this, Prussia teasing them and asking them questions, stories being shared, laughs erupting every so often (even from Germany). It was quite pleasant, so much so England felt silly he was worried in the first place. Things were going splendidly, that was until Germany's phone buzzed. “It's Feliciano,” he sighed, “probably wondering how everything is going. Mind if I take this?”
Prussia gave him a dismissive wave. “Go ahead West. Tell little Feli I say hi!”
And so Prussia and England were left alone in the dining hall. When he turned his attention back to the other man, the grin Prussia had been sporting all night fell. “Now that it's just us,” Prussia began, “we need to have a little chat.”
All at once, England’s nerves returned and Prussia stalked over to him. “Wh-What do you mean?”
“I know we’ve been friends in the past and we’ve looked out for each other, but Ludwig will always come first.”
“Of course, but why-” Their noses were practically touching, making England feel much smaller.
“So let me give you a warning. I know you and how you can be, so if you hurt my baby Bruder, I’ll hurt you.”
As those words left Prussia’s mouth, England couldn’t help but shudder at the threat. Prussia may have become weakened in recent years, but he still managed to hang on to his intimidation abilities. The way his face hardened, the voice commanded and the sheer venom in his words left even the former British Empire quaking.
Luckily, he was soon saved from the intense gaze as Germany returned. “What’s going on here?”
Prussia’s usual grin returned and he turned his attention towards his brother. “Oh, nothing. Arthur and I were just having a little talk, nothing more.”
Germany gave him a skeptical look, but nonetheless took his place next to Arthur once more. When Prussia was distracted by one of his little chicks coming by to say hello, Germany took the opportunity to comfort England since he was pretty sure he knew what this ‘little talk’ his lover and brother had. “Don’t mind him. He just worries too much about me sometimes,” he stated, taking hold of England’s hand once more.
“I-I wasn’t.”
Germany gave him a fond smile and placed a kiss on England’s temple. Although England would never admit it out loud, Germany was right, but now that he was here he could relax once more.
Not long after that drama, the evening came to an end and the lovers and Prussia had to retire to their rooms. But before parting, Germany gave a warning to his brother, “I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t try to scare my boyfriend.” With that, they parted ways with the two lovers retiring to their room, England blushing all the way.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Heres the last part of my 2017 Christmas fic! I realized while rereading this that Germany was so so so out of character. Like, it’s bad, but I also still enjoy this fic, even though some parts don’t make logical sense anymore.
Word Count: 3,775
Tumblr media
You don't remember the last time you've had such a comfortable night's sleep. When you awoke in the morning, it was still dark in the room, and you were still in Ludwig's clothes, covered in a warm quilt. The one thing you noticed that was different, was that Ludwig was gone. You were no longer laying on his warm, sturdy chest. His arms were no longer wrapped protectively around you.
You sat up in a tired daze, looking around. It was still dark, but a slight sliver of golden sunlight was peeking through the dark curtains. So it was already mid-day, you guessed, it was only the blackout curtains that made it appear to be dark. The only light inside the house was of the small, colorful lights on the Christmas tree.
In the dim light, you saw Ludwig on the floor, mumbling in German, and surrounded by wrapping paper, scissors and tape.
"What are you doing?" You asked groggily. Ludwig jumped at your voice and quickly shoved an item behind his back.
"(Y/N)! You're awake!" he blushed and fidgeted softly, like a child who had gotten caught being naughty. “I was wrapping your... gifts.”
“My gifts? Ludwig, I thought we weren’t going to buy each other anything. And ‘Gifts’? Plural?” You blushed. How could he do this? As much as you appreciated it, you only bought him one thing- a plate, for God’s sake! “Luddy, all I bought you was a plate!”
“It’s alright, really.” he gave you the tiniest glimmer of a smile. It was the largest you’ve seen him smile since you got here, but instead of being happy, it was more of him trying to be reassuring than anything. You mentally made it a goal to see him full out smile before you go home. As you were thinking, Ludwig stood and walked into the kitchen, arriving a few moments later with a steaming mug. “I made some Glühwein. You know, that drink you had last night.” you smiled, grateful for the warmth that surrounded your hands when you took the mug from him.
‘Thank you.” you took a sip, savoring the spicy, fruity, flavor. You hummed in pleasure. “You made this? It’s so good!” Ludwig blushed modestly and scratched his neck.
“Danke. I made it just for you...” you failed to notice how Ludwig’s face paled and his eyes widened dramatically after that sentence. You blushed and almost choked on your drink, setting it down on a side table. Before you could respond to his confession, he continued. “Do you want to wake up Gilbert and (S/N) now so we can open presents before you leave?” You jumped up in excitement like a child and tripped over your own feet. “Scheiße! (Y/N)!” Ludwig jumped forwards and grabbed you before you could hit the ground. “Are you okay?” In a lovestruck daze, you stared up into his pale blue eyes, noticing the obvious worry in them. You noticed how they softened while staring into yours.
"Yo, losers! It's that awesome time! Presents!!"
"Merry Christmas!" Your sister and Gilbert burst into the room, the dogs following them. The dogs seemingly always showed up with them. Quickly steadying you, Ludwig let go, as to not cause suspicion. Gilbert and your sister sat down in front of the tree, grabbing and shaking the presents as if the two were still children.
"Gilbert! Don't do that!" Ludwig hit his brother over the head.
"Jeez, West. You're such a meany." He snickered and scooted over closer to (S/N). "Don't ruin Christmas."
"I'm not..." he sighed and cut himself off. "Nevermind. (Y/N), do you want your presents now?" You blushed, still not recovered from earlier, and sat down on the couch. Before you could respond, Gilbert began his teasing again.
"Kesese! You bought her something?! Oohlala!"
"Bruder!" Before Ludwig could say any more, you nudged him with your foot from where you sat on the couch. He looked up and his glare softened into a gentle almost-smile. He sat up on the sofa with you and handed you the first small package. Giving him a small thankful smile, you tore the wrapping paper off.
Inside was a small, blue mug with the words München Christkindlmarkt in beautiful white letters. It had intricate, hand-painted designs, and you noticed it as the mug that you were drinking Glühwein from the day before. Inside the cup was a small piece of paper with handwritten words.
"Its a recipe. So you can make Glühwein whenever you want to."
"Oh, Lud. It's so pretty." You leaned over and wrapped your arms around him in a tight embrace. "Thank you!"
"I-It was nothing." Really." He handed you the second package gently. "Open the next." You felt his eyes on you opened them, and you blushed brightly as his hand lingered on yours for a second, before he quickly pulled away. Inside this package, there was a small silk handkerchief, for decorative purpose only, you supposed. In fancy lettering on the front, it said Frohe Weihnachten.
"Oh, Lud-" As you unfolded it, you felt a few small objects fall into your hand. Little, handcrafted, wooden stars in beautiful colors.
"Just little things you can hang up in your home around Christmas time." Ludwig blushed a bit and continued quieter. "So you don't forget about your time here." Your heart almost broke at the sight before you. Ludwig had a dark blush in his face, and the look in his eyes was obviously heartbroken, although he also looked bashful, giving him an innocent look. His blonde head was hung low, and his sharp blue eyes were averted. You knew both Gilbert and your sister were watching, but it didn't stop your next sentence.
"Ludwig, I could never forget this place. It's beautiful." Ludwig's eyes flashed with hope for a second, but he ran a hand through his hair and reached for the next gift.
"Here, it's the last one." He handed you the smallest, but best-wrapped gift. It was a very small box, wrapped in a smooth golden paper, and with the tiniest bow.
"I almost don't want to open it. It's so pretty like this." You smiled at him shyly. "Danke-"
"Oooopeeeen iiiit." You looked over, pulled out of the trance, and saw Gilbert with his hands cupped to his mouth. He and (S/N) looked like they were watching a movie, and this was a significantly dramatic scene.
"Mind your own business!" Ludwig growled, and Gilbert went back to talking with (S/N). You carefully pulled the paper off and opened the small box. You gasped lightly when you saw what was inside.
On a delicate gold chain along with 3 tiny beads- one black, one red, one gold- sat a charm the shape of Germany, just larger than your thumb. In the center of the charm was a small cutout of a heart.
"So a piece of Germany will always be with you." You heard Ludwig whisper. For some reason, that really got to you. You were leaving today, and you weren't coming back. You'd never see Ludwig again. You felt the tears well up in your eyes, and you quickly stood and ran to your bedroom, still holding the necklace. You sat on the edge of your bed, set your face in your hands. You tried your best to keep the tears from falling, but you couldn’t. You were leaving. You were never going to see Ludwig again, except in the background of pictures your sister sends. Oh, if only you could stay forever. But you couldn’t quit your job! And you could barely speak a lick of German. Suddenly you heard the door open, and you froze, expecting Ludwig.
“What was that?” You looked up to see not Ludwig, but your sister standing in the doorway. She laughed before looking down at you. “Holy shit, are you crying?” She completely switched from teasing to concerned. “What happened?”
“I-” Your voice cracked, and you stopped talking, choking back a small sob. Your sister sat down next to you and rubbed your back gently.
“Take your time.” You took a deep breath.
“I need to leave. Like, now.”
“What? Why? Is it because of Ludwig?” Then, she looked at you with that look that older siblings get sometimes. The ‘I know’ look.
“Okay, yes. I really like him.” Your sister laughed. “What’s so funny?”
“Why are you crying then? Because you have to leave? You don’t.” She stood from the bed and laughed. “(Y/N), I love ya, but you’re an idiot. An idiot in love.” You blushed as she left your room. You gathered your bags together and got dressed for the airport, doing your hair as simple as possible. You heard a whining noise outside your bedroom door and went to open it, immediately tackled to the ground by the dogs. The golden retriever began to lick your salty, tear-stained cheeks. Despite the sadness inside you, you still managed to laugh.
“Aster! Stop it!” You stood up and took this time to check what time it was. 12:30. And your flight was at 2:30. And take away the hour it took to get to the airport. That gave you one hour. One hour to pack. One hour to come to peace with the fact that you were leaving. One hour to say goodbye to Ludwig. You jumped when you heard a soft knock on your open door.
“(Y/N)?” It was Ludwig. “Do you want to eat something or have some more Glühwein before you go?” Sucking up all your courage, you left your room and followed him to the kitchen.
“I suppose it’s only logical to eat since I’m not going to have anything but airline food the rest of the day.” Sitting down at the table across from him and digging into your food, you tried your best to avoid eye contact with him. Those eyes could pull you into a trance, and that’s the last thing you need right now. But that wasn’t the only problem.
This is the last time you’re going to eat at this table. The last time you get to share a meal with him.
You couldn’t push the thoughts out of your head.
“I’m sorry.” Ludwig’s low voice pulled you back to reality. You looked up, immediately making eye contact with those crystal eyes and scolded yourself in your head. Damn it all, (Y/N)! You had one job!
“Sorry for what?”
“Whatever I did that upset you.” Ludwig looked like a kicked puppy. Whatever he thought he did to you really seemed to be bugging him. “Was it the necklace? After I gave it to you, you just ran off. Is something wrong with it?”
“No! It’s nothing, I promise. The necklace is beautiful.” You reached down to where it still hung around your neck, then you continued eating silently. You felt his eyes still on you but were still determined to ignore it.
“If you need to tell me something, you can. Please don’t feel uncomfortable talking to me.” You blushed, and your brain ceased to function. Why was he saying all these things? Did he know something? Clenching your fist under the table, you blatantly lied.
“I don’t feel uncomfortable.” Ludwig didn’t seem to believe you, but you continued to eat in silence. You heard Ludwig sigh and stand up from the table.
“Can I take your bags out to the car?”
“Go ahead.” You felt so terrible ignoring Ludwig, considering you had been so close yesterday, but you just wanted to make this easier on both of you. That didn’t make it selfish, right? You were doing this for Ludwig too. Unless he didn’t care if you left or stayed. God, what if he didn’t care? Of course, no one could decide they like someone in two days! It takes time. You set your silverware down in deep thought. I should’ve known it’s not worth it. I should have just stayed with (S/N) instead of hanging out with Ludwig. I could’ve saved all this trouble...
“Are you ready to go?” Ludwig interrupted your inner monologue.
“Now?” You glanced at the clock. “Oh! Yeah, let’s go.” You gave your room one last look, making sure you didn’t forget anything- your phone, charger, a hairbrush- and you grabbed the remaining bag and a coat. You walked slowly through the house as if wishing you’d miss your flight. As if wishing time would stop. Eventually, you were out the door, and you sat in the passenger side of Ludwig’s car.
This is the last time you’ll see this room. This is the last time you’ll see this house. In less than an hour, you’ll be gone.
The ride was silent for a very long time. You both sat silently, Ludwig driving and you watching the passing scenery outside. You felt so guilty about not talking to Ludwig. What if you really hurt him? Eventually, the silence became too much for Ludwig.
“(Y/N). Please talk to me. I know you’ve been ignoring me for a reason, and I want to know why.”
“I’m not-”
“Schwachsinn!” he cursed rather loudly. Then he calmed quickly, not wanting to scare you. “I know you're ignoring me. Please… please tell me why.” Ludwig looked so hurt, and you once again felt tears well up in your eyes.
“I'm so sorry, Ludwig…” Your voice cracked in the middle of the sentence, and you covered your mouth and looked out the window. “I’m sorry. It's just, you know, I'm leaving today and I didn't want to…” You trailed off.
“You didn't want to become attached to me...Is that it?” you hesitated but nodded slowly.
“I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to worry you.” Ludwig was silent a moment, and then he continued.
“You know, you don't have to leave today. I could buy you a plane ticket for another day. It'll be way too busy today.”
“Ludwig, it's fine.” Ludwig pulled the car into the airport's parking lot.
“But if you don't want to leave…” He was parking now.
“I need to.” You looked over at Ludwig and got out of the car. You went to the trunk and grabbed your suitcase.
“At least let me carry your bags for you.”
“Alright.” You smiled at Ludwig and nodded. He gave off no emotion whatsoever. And then you began the long walk to the airport. You couldn’t process the fact that this was the last time you’d see Ludwig. It was as if your body was just refusing to believe the information. Hoping that maybe… maybe it wasn’t true. Maybe something would happen. But here you stood, next to Ludwig, right inside the airport, ready to board the plane. You hesitated. GO. STAY. GO STAY. There was a battle taking place inside you between your head and your heart. You wanted to stay with Ludwig, you really did! But how stupid would that be? Like a decision an impulsive teenager. Was there anything you could say to him that could spark a conversation and cause you to miss your flight? No…
“(Y/N), wait!” Before you could take another step, you felt a strong grip around your upper arm. “Wait!” Don’t go!”
“Ludwig..?” This was the first time you’ve seen the German so passionate about something. He looked so desperate, so needy, so… vulnerable.
“(Y/N), don’t get on that plane. Before you came here I didn’t really have any friends. Not who live around here, anyway. You’ve spent so much time with me, and I’m forever grateful for that. I’m not the person who says things like this, but sometimes you need to let your heart decide… I know it’s only been a few days, and in any other situation I wouldn't say this, but your sister already lives here and we somewhat know each other, so... I really like you. Bitte bleib hier bei mir." He took one look at your shocked expression and continued. “You can leave if you’re positive you want to. I won’t force you to stay.” he let go of your arm in a dejected manner. “I’m sorry for delaying you. Just don't forget me.” He turned away, expecting you to leave. You noticed how he wasn’t holding himself tall and strong like he normally does, but instead, his shoulders were hunched. He was walking away from you, but his words were still ringing in your head. Sometimes you need to let your heart decide. In a split second, you sprinted up behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist. He stiffened up instantly. “(Y-Y/N)?”
“Ludwig… did you mean all that?” you pulled away from him and he turned to face you. His face was bright red all the way to the tips of his ears.
“Of course I did.” He scratched the back of his neck, embarrassed.
“Even the part where you said you like me?” Ludwig’s face paled as if he forgot that he said that.
“E-even that part…” The two of you stood in silence for a moment, and for the first time all day, you allowed yourself to get lost in his cerulean blue orbs. How they were filled to the brim with unease. The way his crisp blonde hair was combed back away from his forehead, although a few hairs had fallen from the ranks, hanging above his eyes. The way his muscles were tensed in anxiety for your response.
“I like you too…”
“Does that mean… you’re staying?” You nodded slowly and watched in joy as Ludwig’s lips curled up into a grin. A big, toothy, grin. In an agonizingly slow movement, he wrapped his arms around you gently and leaned down to bury his face in the crook of your neck. It was then that you felt the wet drops on your shoulder, and felt Ludwig’s shoulders tremble softly.
“Are you crying?”
“I’m... happy.” Of course, all sweet moments must come to an end, as Ludwig’s cellphone began ringing annoyingly. He pulled back quickly and dug the phone out of his pocket. “Hallo?” he listened for a mere two seconds and hung up with a sigh. “It was Gilbert. He asked if were, erm… getting it on yet.”
“So does he know about…?”
“Ja, and if you don’t mind, I don’t exactly want to go home yet. They’re only going to torment us.”
“Okay, but where are we going then?” Ludwig thought for a few moments, then it looked as if an idea struck him.
“Well, I have an idea, but it might be a while before we get there.”
“Can I know what is?”
“Neu-... actually, it’s a surprise. But, it might be 5 o’clock by the time we get there… are you alright with waiting that long?”
“Of course. As long as it’s with you.” As Ludwig smiled and carried your bags back to the car, you couldn’t help but wonder where he was taking you. Something so important that he was willing to drive five hours to get there. What could it be? As you sat in the car, Ludwig spoke up.
“I can’t believe you’re actually staying.”
“I can’t either.” Ludwig seemed a bit uncertain about what he was about to say.
“Are you sure you want to stay? You still have time to catch your plane-”
“I want to stay.” Ludwig smiled again, looking away to hide it, and drove the car out of the parking lot. “Remember what you said earlier? About letting your heart decide? That’s what I did. I let my heart decide. And it chose you”
“(Y/N)...” he trailed off. But you knew what he meant. That’s so sweet, or How cheesy. He continued to drive, and you looked out the window, watching the road signs fly past. “You might want to take a nap while we drive there. It’s almost two hours.”
“But I don’t want you to be lonely on the drive.” Despite how tired you still were because of jet lag, you really didn’t want Ludwig to be alone. “I don’t want to be a burden.”
“(Y/N), how many times do I have to tell you. You’re not a burden. I like having you around. Go to sleep." Smiling once more, you closed your eyes and failed to notice the sign reading Romantische Straße.
The light snow fluttered carelessly around the sky, and everything was enveloped in pitch darkness, except for a small beam of moonlight shining down in the center of an utterly romantic scene. In the midst of all the snow, a young girl twirled around, her jacket forgotten somewhere, her hair flowing free down her shoulders. The man's hair seemed even fairer than usual adorned with delicate crystals of snow, as he stepped into the light and lay his jacket over the woman's shoulders, pulling her in for a sweet kiss. Their lips molded perfectly onto each other, and it all seemed too perfect to be true. And it was.
(Y/N)...
(Y/N)...
"(Y/N)? Wake up now. We're here." Ludwig whispered. The sun was gone, but it didn't look like night time yet. Late evening, when the sky still has a tint of gray to it. Steady snow had begun to fall and was already piling in the grass beside the road. With a small groan, you let Ludwig pull you out of the car, and you looked around, expecting something extravagant.
"Where are we?" You whispered back to him, equally as soft. Ludwig took your hand and pulled you away from the car a bit. He swiftly pulled his coat off and lay it across your shoulders. You smiled thankfully up at him. Then, he stopped walking and pointed out to a blank mountain range.
"Look up there." You did. You strained your eyes, and soon you saw that it was not simply a blank mountain range. Perched upon one of the hills was an elegant, white castle. The mountain was not blank, but in fact, it was a canvas that the Gods had touched with a magic paintbrush. "Do you see it?"
"Yes... it's beautiful."
It may be schön, but you... du bist wunderschön." You smiled and huddled closer to Ludwig.
"Is that what you brought me here for? Just to say that?" Worry splashed across Ludwig's face.
"I thought of it on the way. Do you like it?"
"I love it." Ludwig smiled that beautiful toothy grin that you've only gotten to see twice, and wrapped his arms around you quietly, warming you with his body.
"Maybe we'll come back another day. I think you're getting cold,  ja? Let's go." He hurriedly rushed you to the car and got you comfortable. "Schlaf, mein Schatz. Schlaf..."

Hetalia: Axis Powers Episode #23 Transcript
This episode has Liechtenstein cutting her hair and Italy and Romano arguing at night.
Liechtenstein: Big bruder.
(Bruder: Brother → German)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Switzerland: No! Why, Liechtenstein?! Why did you cut all of your hair off?!
Liechtenstein: Oh, big bruder!
(Bruder: Brother → German)
Liechtenstein: There you are! Do you like my hair?
{Caption: Liechtenstein and her wonderful big brother - part 1 -}
Liechtenstein: I found it a change! I think I look very sophisticated!
Switzerland: You cut your hair just like mine…so of course I can’t say it looks bad, but do you want everyone to assume you’re a little boy?! What were you thinking?!
Liechtenstein: I love the way yours looks. I thought it’d be nice on me.
Switzerland: Mmuhah! Okay…I guess it does look pretty good.
Liechtenstein: That’s sweet of you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japan: Hetalia!
{Caption: Hetalia}
Narrator: Liechtenstein is a small country with a population of 30,000, located between Austria and Switzerland. Her name means “shining stone.” She used to be a princess from Austria and is still one of the richest countries in the world. She lived in Germany’s house for a long time, but became independent when the German Confederation was broken up. These days, she relies completely on Switzerland. Liechtenstein doesn’t have a military and for the most part does whatever Switzerland tells her to do. This is a story about Liechtenstein and her undying love for her wonderful big brother, Switzerland.
{Caption: Liechtenstein and her wonderful big brother - part 2 -}
Swiss woman: Oh my goodness! Haven’t you got just the cutest little brother!
Switzerland: Uhn…this isn’t my little brother.
Liechtenstein: Weuah!
Swiss woman: Huh?
Liechtenstein: Euheuheuheuheuh…
{Text on sign: Ribbons}
Switzerland: Pick whatever color you like.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Italy: Hetalia!
{Caption: Hetalia}
Germany’s thoughts: Why the heck is this guy such a putz?
Italy: Ah, I ate some really weird British pizza the other day. It kinda tasted like fish and vinegar!
Germany’s thoughts: He’s supposed to be a descendant of mighty Rome, so it’s not a problem with his genetics.
Italy: Look, Germany! Someone’s teaching a lesson!
{Text on blackboard: Why the world don’t need it}
Professor: The flavonoids in tomatoes cause those who ingest too much to become unnaturally good humored but pathetically weak. However, our latest research has but cracked the surface of this phenomenon.
Italy: That’s funny! That professor guy doesn’t know it, but he just said “butt crack!” Hehehehehehe!
Germany: Now I see.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Germany: Hetalia!

Romano: Ehm…
Italy: It’s been so long since I had a big brother to sleep with!
Romano: Yeah, great! Another night of garlic smelling Dutch ovens!
Italy: What’s bugging you? Japan and Germany never complained about sleeping with me!
Romano: Auh! Tell me right now that you’re through with those two or I’ll keep choking you!
(Italy: AAAAHHHH!)
Italy: Big brother, I can’t breathe! Big brother, I can’t…AEYH!
Phone: Ring! Ring!
Italy: GERMANYYYY! Germany, help!
Romano: Don’t move! Not there!
Italy: Ouch! It won’t come out!
Romano: Be gentle! Ow!
Italy: OW! Get it out! TAKE IT OUUUUUT!
Romano: Hang up, already!
Italy: OOOOOHHH!
Germany: Ehm…
(Phone: Beep beep)
Phone: Beep beep beep beep beep…
Germany: “Romano’s in bed?” “It won’t come out!?” “Ow, ow?!” “Take it out?!” Hey, Italy! Are you okay?! What happened?! Uoah!
Romano: Augh…
Italy: Oh, I was waiting for you, Germany!
Germany: So it was just hair?!
(Romano: Euhhhhh…)

Austria: Ohah?
Switzerland: Auh!

Germany cringed at the thought of those movies, “I rarely see why people call some movies that. I can’t stand them... And as for the other question...” He thought for a moment, before he smiled. “While I am not one for rides... Festivals are nice. Like Oktoberfest for example is one that I like to attend with bruder.”
🎟- Do they like “so bad it’s good” movies? 🎠- Does your muse like amusement parks/carnivals/festivals?

Thanks so much for the tag, @hiddenlookingglass! I’m in the middle of moving and that’s a nice distraction! Anyways, here are my book recommendations :)
Childhood book
I’ve always been a bookworm but unfortunately I can’t think of many books that still hold up and that I think are worth reading even as an adult. There are two exceptions, though:
Das kleine Ich-bin-Ich (Little I-Am-Me) by Mira Lobe and Susi Weigel. It’s a children’s classic here in Austria and I just adore this book. It’s a very short book written for small children and yet is able to express a wonderful message about identity and that it is okay to be different. It’s about a fantastical animal that is one day approached by a frog that asks it “Who are you?”. The animal can’t answer this question and goes on a quest to find out.
The Iliad by Homer. Yes, I read the Iliad when I was 13 and about 90% of what was going on went straight over my head. I still put it on this list because it had a big impact on me and deepened my love for Greek mythology. What I loved the most back then were scenes with the Gods. I was shocked (in a good way) by how funny they were and how much they acted like human beings. A lot of people are put off by this (and I can totally understand why) but I took it as “hey, they are super relatable, I love them!”.
Reading list
Okay, first off, I have to admit that I am a terrible reader, as in: I have to immediately start reading every new book I get, which means I can read up to 20 books simultaneously and need years to finish them because reading so many books at the same time is (surprise) a very bad idea. But I just can’t help myself. I can’t list every single book I’m currently reading but among them are:
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon: I was drawn to this because it is said to be a feminist fantasy novel with a female/female romance. I’ve only just started it so I don’t have an opinion on it yet.
Fear and Loathing in Ancient Athens (re-read) by Alexander Rubel, an academic book about the role of religion during the Peloponnesian War. Re-reading it because I want to refresh my memory on this very interesting topic.
Ordinary Men by Christopher R. Browning: Again, a non-fiction book that tries to answer the question as to why otherwise ordinary soldiers participated in massacres against (mostly Jewish) civilians during WWII.
Recently read
I do manage to finish some books now and then! I recently finished Not All Dead White Men by Donna Zuckerberg about how the Alt-Right uses antiquity to further their agenda. I don’t want to say more because I want to do a review on it soon. Another book that I really liked was Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, the first book in a trilogy about the life of Thomas Cromwell, chief minister to Henry VIII. What I liked about this book is that it is rather subtle and not a “here’s what really happened” type of book. I definitely plan on reading the sequels.
This summer semester I also did a class on national socialism in contemporary German literature as part of my extension curricula. I wasn’t able to read all of the books we talked about but the ones I have read are all very interesting! Unfortunately, I don’t think many of them have an English translation but if you can read German, you should definitely give them a go! Here are a few of the ones I’ve read:
Landgericht (District Court) by Ursula Krechel about a Jewish judge who is able to flee to Cuba but has to leave behind his Christian wife. He returns to Germany after the war and tries to reunite with his wife and children (who he and his wife had sent to England to save their lives). The story is fictional but inspired by true events.
Engel des Vergessens (Angel of Oblivion) by Maja Haderlap. The story is heavily inspired by the author’s family history. It’s about the main character’s experiences growing up with a grandmother who survived a concentration camp and a deeply traumatized father who fought in the resistance.
Am Beispiel meines Bruders (In My Brother’s Shadow) by Uwe Timm. The brother in the title was the author’s older brother, an SS soldier who died in WWII. The book is about how the author tries to deal with his brother’s legacy.
Two books that I’ve already read about a year ago but that played a big part in me becoming vegetarian are Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer and Animal Liberation by Peter Singer.
I also want to use this post to draw attention to some great booktubers that I follow: Jean Bookishthoughts, mynameismarines and The Artisan Geek!

Entschuldigung, großer Bruder
A meeting with Switzerland wasn’t anything unusual. After all, they had to discuss important topics. He had gone several times to the nation’s place, and there had never been an issue. The meeting went better than any held in world conferences, which he was thankful for.Again, nothing unusual.
As he was getting ready to leave, a gentle voice caught his attention:
“Mister Germany, would you like to join me and my bruder for tea ?” Liechtenstein spoke. The younger nation was friendlier than her older brother, and certainly more outgoing.
“If your older bruder doesn’t mind, I wouldn’t like to be a bother “ it was polite to get the approval of the hedgehog nation first, specially because he had an amazing aim with his riffle.
With a nod, Switzerland showed the approval for his sister’s idea.It was pretty strange of him to invite someone else.
Joining them to drink tea and accompany them with the home made sandwiches that Liechtenstein had made was not how he expected to spend the evening, but it was something he really ended up enjoying. He saw an unusual face of his neighbor, one that was far more gentle and warm than what he was used too.
On all those years he had expend going to his house, it was the first time that he had no issue giving him something to drink. He also allowed his sister to use a pretty nice tea set, something that was even more unexpected. He really cared a lot for his little sister, maybe more than he did about himself or money, and Germany couldn’t avoid but to feel some kind of nostalgia.
But as much as he hated to admit it, that also made him feel an uneasy feeling: sadness. He knew why, but he had rather not let it show while he had company. After finishing the tea and saying goodbye to the young nation, her brother accompanied him to the entrance.
“I’d like to thank you for joining us today” the hedgehog nation said sincerely.”She enjoys having others over.I admit I’m not particularly fond of it, but I like seeing her being happy.”
“It was a pleasure, Switzerland”Germany had to admit, getting to know that face of his was “Lietchestein is lucky to have you as her big brother”he added before heading back to his place.
It was a long drive until his home, even if both their houses weren’t as far away from each other. The sadness that he felt certainly made it feel like time was passing slower.
The reason behind it was pretty simple: Switzerland and his sister reminded him, in a certain way, of Prussia and himself.
His brother, the one who was responsible for his existence in the first place. He had taught Germany all he knew, all he needed to be a great nation, all that would be important for him when growing up.No one else had been as important as him.
Prussia was the only family that he had ever known. All of his other siblings either united to create him, or had disappeared long before he was born. So, as far as it concerned, he was the most important person in his life.
Even tho for humans he had been a child for a long time, for a country, he grew up rather fast.Still, in the years he was still a toddler, the person there for him was his big brother. His brother was strict, specially when it came to neatness, but he never was cruel or impatient with him.He taught him how to correctly organize his clothes and clean everything, but made sure to also teach him the important of always being on time. After all, nothing was as unforgivable as lateness.
Military tactics and weapon using had been installed to him almost as soon as he started to have a conscience.Of course, the person in charge of that was his big bruder. He was good, even as a child, but it was really his brother’s influence that made him excellent. They trained together for several years, as Prussia was used to do when he was in charge of training foreign troops.Of course, he would often joke in ways that Germany found annoying, but deep down, he appreciated his brother’s effort in trying to make him not feel as bored.Plus, he was pretty much the only person to have ever joked during a training while Germany was present and live to tell, which was quite an achievement.
As for industry and mechanics, he would for sure had been screwed has his brother not teach him about it.After all, he was probably the best country when it came to it.He made sure Germany learned exactly how to make the best products possible, while using the only the best materials available. That helped him compete during the Industrial Revolution, which would’ve otherwise destroyed him.
And of course, the first time Germany drank beer, it was with his brother.Prussia couldn’t just let his little brother drink some shitty beer and get drunk, he had to be sure it was of good quality. The blonde didn’t remember much of that time, except that he downed the drink his big bruder gave him, and them everything went black.Somehow, he ended up using his own boot as a cup, perhaps after the bar had ran out of places to serve them.
That aside, Prussia was also protective of his little brother.Whenever Germany had been scared of something as little as a thunderstorm, he would let him sleep in his room.Oddly enough, the older one never teased him for to, and instead chose to teach him why he shouldn’t be afraid.
He had so many fond memories of his brother...hell, he was actually the closest thing he had to a father. Not many people had seen his brother’s kind and caring side, often thinking he was just an idiot.Well, maybe he was, but Prussia cared for him better than anyone else could’ve done it.
Germany didn’t notice that his cheeks were wet, but of course that wasn’t from crying .Because men don’t cry, right ?Men don’t cry when they remembered their brother, the one person who didn’t bat an eye to make sure they were always alright, that raised them as if they where his son. They specially didn’t cry when they had been the reason they weren’t alive anymore...
Because it had been his fault. Was there even a way to deny it ?His boss, that horrible boss that he would rather not name.Germany had caused the worst war ever imaginable, one that would change world’s history forever.Aside from all the death and pain it caused, it happened to create or dissolve countries.
And his brother had been one the countries to be dissolved.Prussia became East Germany after that, but after what he had gone through during the Cold War, he wasn’t in a good shape.Of course, his big brother wouldn’t let that show.He affectively referred to his brother was “West”, despite it being a reminder of the division they had gone through. He didn’t even mind driving a car in such bad condition, that it might as well just break down when you saw it.
Despite this, Germany had been very happy when they were able to reunite.Too happy to notice his brother was slowly becoming a human.Or maybe, just hoping it was just his imagination.
He always told him that he was fine.He never once blamed him for the condition he was in.He never blamed him for causing his dissolution. He never stopped loving his little brother, loving him too much to make him worry.
Prussia never told him anything. He never said anything about how that bite mark didn’t heal quickly. He never said anything about his legs slowly working less.He never said anything about the trouble he began to have to breath. But still, anyone could’ve noticed.
It was as if all the years he had lived, all the battle he had seen and all the bones he had broken were slowly getting to his body, all at the same time.Germany noticed something was wrong when his brother’s little bird started to chirp frantically, almost as if it was trying to scream.
He had rushed to his big bruder’s room, only to find him agonizing. His dogs also arrived there, as if they knew he was gonna die.Prussia’s smile never left his face, as he gently caressed his brother’s face.
“I’m so proud of you, Germany...”he could barely speak. The blonde had seen other sick countries, but this was different...his hands were cold, and the light in his eyes was barely there.Calling a doctor was useless, because there was nothing to be done.”Don’t forget the awesome me, alright ?Don’t forget how much I love you” and with that, he closed his red eyes, to never open them again. Germany wasn’t sure how many hours passed as he cried while hugging his brother, he only knew that it took several men to separate them
Why hadn’t he yelled at him?Germany was the reason his brother met such end, he deserved to be told that by him.He was the one who should have been dissolved, not Prussia. He hadn’t done anything wrong, except maybe creating him in the first place....yet he never even thought so.
He barely had anything on his house to remember his brother.Just his little bird, who’s happiness seemed to have died the same day his owner passed away. That cross, who his brother had proudly worn, ended up becoming a symbol that needed to be destroyed, and all because of him.
All those thoughts followed him as he drove to his house, which when he arrived, now felt even more empty.
“Sorry, big brother ” he mumbled to himself. After stepping out of his car, he simply broke down crying “Sorry”

Little Germany: Bruder that man has robbed you. And he stabbed you.
Prussia: I know! Are you learning your lesson yet?
Little Germany: I'm getting a doctor and police. Please don't move.
