Yay! God, so where to start??
There’s my untitled Count of Monte Cristo AU that’s been in my head for a while now!
I need more hellcheer period pieces in my life and this concept makes me squee! I wrote a little about this idea before and have a very rough outline somewhere, but otherwise it’s all in my head!
Same premise as the book/movie: Eddie and Chrissy (Edward and Christina) are in love and engaged to be married. Jason, their childhood friend, is bent with jealousy and frames Eddie for treason. Chrissy is told that he was executed, but instead he’s sent to prison for twelve years.
Chrissy longs to die too, crippled by her grief, but she’s pregnant with his child (a girl named Olivia in this story ahh!) and has no choice but to marry Jason for the survival of herself and her child.
Eddie escapes from prison only to find out that Chrissy not only has forgotten him, but is married to the man who betrayed him and has a child with him.
Angst, treasure hunting, revenge, longing, passion and pain ensue.
I love this idea because I think it’s the first time I could actually write hellcheer as enemies to lovers or well lovers to enemies to lovers again.
Also Jason is the worst.
I made moodboards 🤗

I swear to god, this episode starts with Perry on a date with a Catholic priest. They're having a quiet dinner, just the two of them, candlelight and violin music and the priest is explaining why the Italian language is so romantic to Perry. Of course it gets interrupted by a phone call from the police, but, plot twist!, they need the help of the priest, not Perry!
The priest is a major character throughout the rest of the episode. How Perry knows him is never explained, which is odd. Usually characters like this are introduced as old friends or clients, sometimes an old Navy buddy, but always an explanation of some sort. But there never is one for this guy, they were just having dinner together and then he managed to pull Perry into a murder investigation.

the fandom instinct to headcanon pyronica and kryptos being closest to bill makes a lot of sense when you listen to robertryan corey talk about the henchmaniac designs, because they were the two that were designed to be explicitly complementary to bill's design in a way the other henchmaniacs weren't. frankly we're just reacting to clever character design

HellCheer Count of Monte Cristo AU (Historical/Drama)
Edward returns home upon being made Captain of his own ship and is finally free to marry his beautiful Christina. But when his wealthy, jealous childhood friend Jason frames him for treason, he is taken from his home and thrown in prison. Jason tells Christina that he was executed and she is almost lost to her grief. However, in less then a year she agrees to Jason’s proposal of marriage. They have a premature daughter born that following spring.
In prison, Edward befriends an old convicted soldier named James. He teaches him how to read and how to fight and tells him stories of a treasure buried in an old sea cavern. Edward is determined to be free and return to Christina and have his revenge on Jason. Sadly, James is killed during their escape, but tells him the location of the treasure before he dies. Returning home, Edward learns that Christina has married Jason years ago and has a child with him. Enraged and heartbroken, he sails out to sea, finding the lost treasure, becoming the wealthiest man in France.
Becoming a Count, he is welcomed into the court of the wealthy elite, scheming to have his revenge on Lord and Lady Carver. However, he still aches for Christina despite the betrayal and hate in his heart. He realizes that Christina has gone through her own kind of hell since he left and that hers and Carver’s daughter Olivia shares a striking resemblance to himself.
