FIC: Princess Heartmaker: Ch 13/15 (MLB, Lukanette)
Notes: …you know.  The LBSCers know this, because I’ve been whining about it with them, but y’all realize poor Luka’s been on that damn bike since May?  Ch6 – the last time we were outside of the akumaverse – was May.  Our boy’s had four months of leg day.  😂  (I swear I was trying to finish this while I was off in August, and then We’re a Chance happened.  Sorry, fam.  😂)
 Ch 1 | Ch 2 | Ch 3 | Ch 4 | Ch 5 |  Ch 6  |  Ch 7  |  Ch 8    |  Ch 9  |  Ch 10  |  Ch 11 | Ch 12
Princess Heartmaker
Chapter Thirteen: And all this Time I Thought that We were Ok, Despite the Darkness Somedays…
Meanwhile, somewhere outside of Princess Heartmaker’s immediate influence…
Luka.
Was.
Pissed.
He was pissed at Rose.  He was pissed that she couldn’t just…mind her own business.  That she had meddled, even after being asked repeatedly by multiple sources not to.  That she had taken it upon herself to be some kind of romantic crusader, willfully ignoring the damage she was leaving in her wake.  He didn’t care that her heart was in the right place.  He didn’t care that she had meant well.  He cared that she had lied to them, that she had manipulated them, and in the process she had hurt Marinette.  He didn’t so much care that she had also hurt him.
It was Dingo’s text he couldn’t get out of his head.
I think she’s been crying.
Rose’s carelessness – her stubbornness – had made Marinette cry, and that was unforgiveable in Luka’s book.
…except it wasn’t just Rose that had made her cry, was it?  This was his fault, too.  He had made Marinette cry, too. And so he was also pissed at himself.

Am I selfish for wishing Marinette wasn't the protagonist? She doesn't really connect to the plot besides her love arc and I don't find it that interesting. Like a lot of female protagonists like the cast of Totally Spies the girls force to work for Jerry, or Bloom finding she's a fairy and has the dragon flame or Iris from lolirock who finds out she's Princess of Ephedia. Like you have all these ladies who's arc isn't just connected to just love like it's part of it but romance isn't central to their character they have more to them.
Like it's so weird honestly because I never really knew of a protagonist who just didn't connect with the story instead the secondary character has. His father the villain, he has fans and many who crush on him, he's a model but he's secretly also the famed ChatNoir, he's an abused child who want their parent attention, rich, and a little behind when it comes to social cues. Like? Are we sure he's not the protagonist is that why the show gives him such little contributions and makes others take what he's deserves. Like the book from early on s2, felix finding out his mother in the basement, Kagami learning early on the whole agreste situation and doing a whole play in front of Ladybug with Felix to convey the situation.
She's in every episode most MC's aren't always there sometimes they leave for an episode or two or have someone take the spotlight but she is there 24/7. Like I kinda want to know another character for a chance because I already gauged enough of her character to know romance is all there is to her lol. I don't know can't we have an Adrien central episode, Alya, Kagami, hell even Luka?
No wonder I think the cast are so bland to me because they just appear we don't really know them personally besides if they get akumatized.
Marinette to me is like if we're seeing the blushing female girl and the entire show from a Hinata perspective in Naruto just there to pine for a boy who aren't even that close.
You're not selfish for that, anon. We all have our different tastes. Personally, I like Marinette as the protagonist, but we all have different likes and dislikes.
I will say that the writing for Marinette as a protagonist is pretty lacking though. She doesn't have any connection to the main plot on her own and can only have any relevance in the final battle of her show by taking the place of some other character. The show is literally allergic to taking the focus off her for more than five seconds. Plenty of shows that have a single character as their main lead also devote few episodes to the developing the side characters.
For example, a superhero show like Miraculous would usually have an episode where Ladybug is incapacitated, and Chat Noir has to do the saving. But Miraculous can't handle not having Marinette be the one to save the day at all times, so Chat Noir is just always reduced to being the sidekick or the one who gets caught and has to have Ladybug save him. Like, even in episodes where it seems like Chat Noir will have a larger role to play, the writers can't help but have it be Ladybug who saves the day in the end. Even in episodes that seem like they are going to focus on Adrien, Marinette will have some B plot shoehorned in that will take over the entire episode until it seems like Adrien's conflict is the actual B plot.
Like you said, it's not wrong for the protagonist to take a step back in a few episodes and let the supporting characters shine. Miraculous' habit of shoving Marinette into the resolution for every other conflict but her own is detrimental to both her own character and every other character. It's just bad writing, honestly.
Thank you for your ask!

I like your honkai headcanon that Stelle and Caelus are both members of the express and work together. Do you have any headcanons of the crew you've made so far?
This is more of list of vague ideas and perceptions I get.
March is a big fan of Dan Heng and Caelus. Her limited social filter works over time when they are both around her.
Caelus and Stelle sleep on the couches because they don’t have rooms; unless March is away. She always comes back to see one on top of the covers and another on the floor. They claim she has the only room that feels like a room.
Stelle goes into the Simulated Universe 10 times more than Caelus. He tends to end up dealing with more of the social requests
Kafka made Caelus how he is with Silver Wolf in mind. The implications of that drive the girl mad because what the heck does that mean!? Caelus love’s teasing her.
Stelle has conflicting feelings about Gepard. She knows he’s nice, but the Simulated Universe runs has put him at the top of her fake hit list.
Seele regularly introduces Luka as a lost dog that she is more than happy to put into someone else’s hands.
It roughly seven hours before Seele finds the person she let Luka run off with and demands his return into her custody. They’re never surprised by this. Luka told them this is how it always ends.
Bronya is dating Seele and thinks Luka is a very sweet man.
Asta has an automated reply to the trailblazers that says “ is it Svarog again?”
Completely on accident, Qingque became the trump card everyone will play in dire situations. She’s just too reliable and it makes her upset.
Sushang is everyone’s favorite. The battle is never over unless Sushang says it’s over. (She just saves my life so much. 😂😭)
Stelle:Could say things about Welt but nobody would ever look at her the same ever again. Not that Caelus can’t tell from a glance that girl wishes Welt was a man with loose integrity.
Stelle carries Clara a lot. Caelus carries hook respectfully and Bailu like a briefcase. She just pouts about it.
Stelle will go to sleep if Caelus carries her on his back. It’s like a rule of nature.
Natasha loves everyone, but desperately waits for the day another healer shows up to free her ever so slightly.
Asta thinks both trailblazers are cute and texts them the most.
Bronya likes Caelus’s hugs. He is very brotherly towards her and wishes not to stress her about anything.
Serval and Stelle are best friends.
Seele strangely feels relaxed enough to sleep anywhere as long as Luka is around keeping an eye out.
Fu Xuan has seen many possibilities where Stelle tries talking the General. The only times it works is when Stelle brings Caelus to “distract” her. She just thinks this short lived life form is pretty neat and tall. He’s starting to think Kafka just knows how to disarm short stubborn women and that’s alarming.
Sushang and Seele have been seen taking on an entire separate groups of enemies and winning without giving anyone else a turn. Instead of being tired afterwards, adrenaline and speed buffs had them acting like kids in a candy store. Everyone was impressed.
Both trailblazers are fairly introverted and accidentally called Himeko mom. They now get allowances.

Marinette was an extremely simple person, or at least that was how Juleka saw it. It wasn't a bad thing, but she was an open book in every aspect of life. If she was feeling an emotion, you knew, and if she was crushing on someone, you knew. She couldn't keep a secret to save her life and every thought burst forth from her chest like it was a—
...well, like something Juleka saw in a horror movie once but wouldn't repeat to Marinette, lest the girl get nauseous at the imagery. The point was that Marinette was simply Marinette and anyone who knew her for more than a few days knew exactly who she was.
That was why Juleka didn't think anything when she caught Luka and Marinette together. It'd been another day at the Liberty and she was heading below deck when she caught sight of them.
Luka was lounging at the edge of the couch, one hand behind his head and the other tapping a melody on the couch. That was normal when he wanted to relax rather than play, but Marinette had her sketchbook on his chest and was lounging on his stomach. Her elbows were on the couch at his sides, keeping herself propped up while she sketched.
Maybe they didn't feel like sitting but still wanted to talk face-to-face, or Luka was just a better table than the one they did have? Juleka couldn't imagine it was comfortable, and Marinette even occasionally rolled over to put her back to Luka's stomach, raising the sketchbook up to talk to him about whatever she'd drawn. He looked on, nodding along and saying things Juleka couldn't hear.
She got what she came down for, somehow without being noticed, and decided that there wasn't any need to think about the relationship the two had. If there was anything between Marinette and Luka, Marinette wouldn't have been able to stop talking about it to her and the girls later. She had one, singular reaction to dealing with a crush - or dealing with anything, really - which was flustered panic.
The thought didn't stop her from regretting that she'd yet to try the position with Rose.
——
From what Juleka had understood, Marinette's guitar lessons with Luka had gone well. She came over every now and then for a lesson, then left an hour or so later. Juleka herself had never seen any of their lessons before, but Luka was on deck with her one day when Marinette arrived. It was a gorgeous, sunny day that made Juleka want to flee below deck, but she was still waiting for Rose to arrive.
She also wasn't paying much attention to what Luka and Marinette were saying until partway through.
"What if we did it without the guitar this time?" Marinette asked, gesturing to the instrument in question.
Luka glanced down at his guitar, then at her. Smiling, he set it off to the side, welcoming her right into his lap like she belonged there.
She stretched an arm out, seeming to imitate the guitar's neck. "Is this how it feels to be your guitar?"
"I don't know." He hummed, amusement in his voice. His left hand settled somewhere between her chest and stomach while his other went up to grip her outstretched hand. "How would I play you?"
She leaned her back against him, genuinely thinking that over. Squinting in displeasure, she wondered, "Do I have to sing? I didn't practice."
Their idle banter(?) continued from there while Juleka stared unblinkingly at them. Of course, she'd seen Marinette sandwiched between Luka and his guitar before, but never on his lap and having forgone the guitar entirely. It was also just occurring to Juleka that Luka had never interacted with a girl like this, nor had Marinette with a boy. Marinette had girl friends and then a handful of guys who were technically friends despite her not really hanging out with them.
But maybe that was it. Juleka simply wasn't used to seeing Luka have one-on-one time with a girl who was a friend, same as seeing Marinette have one-on-one time with a boy who was a friend. It was a simple answer to a simple question, and besides that, Luka would've told her had something been going on.
Then, Rose finally strolled onto the Liberty, ignoring Luka and Marinette entirely to plop down onto Juleka's lap. She opened her scrapbook excitedly, drawing Juleka's attention with a point of her finger as she started showing off her recent additions to it. "Look! I found this one when we were little and it was so cute that I just had to put it here!"
Hm.
——
It wasn't long before Juleka caught them again, though "caught" was perhaps a strong word when they didn't seem to be trying to hide anything. She'd just been going below deck to retrieve some of her make-up from her side of the room, but she already heard their voices before she entered.
"No way!" Marinette burst out, sounding a mixture of surprised and entertained. "They just—broke it? In front of everyone?"
"Mhm~" Luka chuckled, an exaggeratedly sad melody following. "It wasn't the kind they wanted."
"Ugh." She scoffed. "Creative people are so dramatic."
They laughed just as Juleka peeked into the room to look at them. Marinette was sitting up on Luka's bed, back facing the flower-patterned curtain, whereas Luka was laying down the length of the bed, head resting on Marinette's lap and his guitar on his stomach. A bowl of chips was nearby, Marinette picking one up to offer to Luka.
"You don't need to feed me," he told her, even though he opened his mouth anyway to accept.
Her fingers brushed his lips as she dropped the chip inside. "Then you wouldn't be able to touch your guitar."
He played a happy note in response, too busy chewing to thank her verbally.
"Well?" she prompted eagerly, her bouncing in place limited only by him on her lap. "Tell me the rest! What happened next?"
Juleka turned away, having already forgotten what she'd gone there for. Had she wanted to join in, she could've chimed in to finish the story herself or walked by and casually added the next part.
Though, that would've required her to know the rest of the story. Luka hadn't told her anything about it and, in retrospect, he never really talked about what went on with him at all. It wasn't that Juleka was never curious, she'd just never asked.
Luka was her brother and the older twin between the two of them. They were two sides of the same quiet coin, Juleka rarely speaking out because she was afraid to and Luka because he only talked when he felt he needed to. He never asked for anything, always helped the moment it was requested of him, and was more of a listener than a talker.
There was only one exception for Juleka where she really felt like she could open up without fear.
"Hey, you're back!" Rose sat up with a start on the two-seater, gaze diverted away from her phone as Juleka came back into her view. She waved rapidly, phone pressed against her chest and beckoning Juleka closer with her mere presence.
"Mm, I'm back," Juleka confirmed, sitting down next to her. "What were you looking at?"
"You're gonna love it!" Rose squealed, squishing herself against Juleka's side as she presented the phone to her. She tapped on the screen, showing that she was on a local jewelry store's website. The site had been opened to a particular page, showing off a bracelet, and Rose was ecstatic to explain, "We could get matching bracelets! See? It's got little roses and jewels!" Facing Juleka, Rose pointed to herself to say, "rose," then pointed at Juleka and enunciated, "and jewel-eka! Isn't it perfect?!"
"Rad." Juleka beamed at her, thoroughly charmed. It was still hard to show affection in public, but whenever it was just her and Rose, she felt all of her walls drop like they were in their own little world. Chloe always referred to her as the "creepy, quiet girl" as an insult, and while part of her kind of liked the title, it still hurt, and couldn't blame other people for seeing her as such. Her brother would probably describe it as something like, "It's hard to get your audience to hear the song in your heart over everyone else's, but if you're playing to someone who wants to listen, they'll hear every beat of it."
Juleka froze, a lightbulb going off in her head. ...Oh.
"Juuuuleka?" Rose frowned, waving her hand in front of Juleka's face. Once she had her attention back, she added apologetically, "I know the jewels aren't black. M-maybe we can paint them!" Then, she deflated, realizing, "I guess they wouldn't be sparkly anymore, but... glitter!" She perked back up. "We can use glitter!"
Juleka hummed, wrapping her arms around Rose and pulling her into a cuddle without prompting. "Sounds cool."
Rose gasped, kicking her legs out in excitement. "I told you you'd like it!"
She turned to squeeze Juleka back, blatantly unaware of the thoughts in her head. Juleka was content with that, knowing that Rose would be there whether she wanted to talk about it or not.
Maybe Marinette wasn't as simple as she thought after all.
Maybe Luka had more to say, but hadn't found the right person to listen to him until now.
And maybe their relationship wasn't anyone's business except their own.

You're in luck, I love supernatural/fantasy ML fics! I tagged everyone I know the tumblrs for, feel free to tag anyone I missed!
COMPLETE FICS:

Dreams of You by @chocoluckchipz
Dreams had long been his only escape. Dreams of Ladybug, the girl who had always been there for him. If only in his dreams. And only while she was also sleeping. Because with the first rays of sunshine gliding over her skin, with the first fluttering of her eyelashes, from the moment she opened her eyes in the morning, memories of Adrien would vanish from her mind. She would go on living her life. He would always be the only one who remembered. At least until they meet in the real world and fall in love all over again, something that would’ve been easier to do if Adrien wasn't a prisoner in his own home.
---
May I Introduce Myself, Your Highness? by @chocoluckchipz
Whether picking up a stray animal off the streets or saving a dying child at the market, Adrien had always strived to be the best version of himself. Truly, he would've been the perfect candidate to be snatched up by a kwami, were he an orphan, dying somewhere remote after a short life full of nothing but suffering and misery. Yet as it stood, the sole heir to the French throne had little to complain about. Apart from, perhaps, a complete absence of a love life. That is until a mysterious girl, wandering around his gardens at night, catches his attention.

How Marinette Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The Ball by @rosie-b
Hidden from the crowds thronging around the busy fairy portal in Paris's town square, a fae gate sits at the edge of the forest, locked, rusty, and full of ancient magic. Marinette thinks that this abandoned gate must not work anymore... but one day, a fairy disguised as a black cat steps through it.
---
a winter so warm by @rosekasa
winters were hard for even the best of vampires, but at least adrien had marinette to keep him warm with her cuddles.
december was going to suck without her. so it was only to be expected to get extra cuddles in before she left, right?
(well, not really, considering those heating supplements he was taking, but she didn't need to know about that).
---
Stitched Together by @nedjsmlfavs
Stitch Witch Marinette was just supposed to be having a nice, terrifying outing with her best friends. She never expected to find a magically trapped kitten, but here we are! Whatever happened to this poor little guy?
---
The Mer-Human Race by @rosie-b
Bringing her hand closer to his lips, Adrien tried to plant a kiss on it, but Marinette pulled away before his lips could touch her.
“Save it for your girlfriend,” she said teasingly. “Or do you still not have one yet?”
Adrien smirked and crossed his arms.
“It’s a girl,” he said. “And I know her in real life. That’s all you get. Now, let’s get back to planning, shall we? We have a mermaid to beat.”
---
See This Chance by @19thsentry-blog
Luka died in 2016. Yep. Crushed by the Arc de Triumph when Mayura’s Robustus slammed into it. It was kind of a big deal, but once you’re dead, you’re dead—especially when there’s no Lucky Charm to bring you back.
Luka’s been dealing with it in the typical ways.
Written for FeLuka week 2023.
---
the legend of the firefly by @agnes-writes
“She’s… beautiful.
If he were to describe her, he’d say that they bottled summer in her eyes, and painted the night sky in her hair. Her lips are curved into a wistful smile, eyes trailing the thicket of trees where Adrien stands.
Her gaze sets his heart stuttering in his chest as it softens, and Adrien almost believes that look is meant for him.”
OR: A pair of lovers create a romance that transcends time, and leaves a mark like no other.
---
Anchor by @liiinerle
“Marinette. Please take that sabre out of your neck.”
“Right. Thanks. I forgot it was there.” She grabbed hold of the guard and pulled; the blade slid out like it had only been run through butter. After dropping it on the floor, she picked up one of the teacups and picked up a biscuit from a tin she’d brought in; she placed the biscuit on the saucer plate and handed the whole thing to Kagami, who could only really resign herself to accepting it.
-----
Marinette has raised Kagami from the dead, and also happens to be dead herself. It turns out some bad choices were made in the past. But that doesn't mean they'll lead to bad outcomes for them now.
---
delicate in every way but one by katrinette
When Marinette finds a wanted ad that provokes just enough questions in her mind that she can't help answering it, the reward is sweeter than she could have imagined.
---

As his friendship with Ladybug turns to first love, he dreams of a future spent at her side. Then, on the eve of the Princess's masquerade, he meets his guardian—and is granted a wish. [Ladrien Cinderella AU]

Marc in particular really wants to start a family with his husband. He knows the fey are real, so he goes searching in the woods to find one to strike a deal. He may get a bit more than he bargained for in the process.

How Could I Not? by SorryJustAnotherPerson
In fairy tale books, Princesses were saved by nights from ferocious dragons. Those books were not their story, but Rose was happy to flip over a new page with her Juleka every single day.
Many years ago, she was put to this tower by her parents and her kingdom, along with a fire breathing dragon, so she could find her prince charming one day. How foolish for them to not calculate her falling in love with the dragon. I mean seriously.
How could she not?
Once Upon A Time by kao_rei:
"Humans fear wolves. I mean, we're horrible, sickening creatures, aren't we?" Adrien laughed.
"I don't think so," Marinette muttered. "Well, not anymore when I met you."
Marinette's days are all the same—she puts on her red cape, makes deliveries for her parents' bakery, and goes home to rest before another busy day. Adrien is a wolf-boy who watches her from afar, awaiting the day they finally meet to change their stories.
While falling in love may bring about some challenges, they're willing to fight through them together because they'd never settle for a "the end". They want a "happily ever after", too.
(In which Marinette is Little Red Riding Hood, Adrien is the Wolf, and they fall in love somewhere between deliveries, flower fields, and shiny red apples).
---
life's waiting for you by @mexicancat-girl
Marc is the shy and soft-spoken Prince of the Underworld, used to being ignored at best and feared at worst. He greatly admires Nathaniel, the Prince of Nature, who’s much too out of his league. Handsome, kind, charming, and charmingly modest, with hair as red as a rose and talented artists' hands. Yearning for the love of a nature deity when he’s a deity of death is beyond ridiculous, so Marc keeps his hopes low. But an encounter at the border between the Underworld and the surface leads the two to speaking, which leads to Marc showing Nathaniel his writing and Nathaniel his art. And from there blooms a beautiful friendship…Or maybe more.
---
to love beauty is to see light by sagansjagger
Young common-mer Adrien will do anything to please his father, Gabriel Agreste. Adrien will even alter his tail, that hideous thing. But the sea witch he seeks out is not who he expected. A common-mer striking up a friendship with an anglerfish-mer is taboo among mermaid kind, but Marinette Dupain-Cheng is too interesting for Adrien to just leave her alone...
---
Ghost of You by its_just_iori
It finally happened. The akuma attacked at the wrong time. They weren't prepared. For the first time, there was a casualty. Someone was killed. Marinette doesn't care that her identity was exposed to the world; she can't stop blaming herself for what happened. If only she'd been ready... if only she'd done more... There's nothing for Adrien to say. There's nothing he can do other than stay by her side and help her through this pain.

what worse luck by GuardianKarenTerrier
He doesn't know what happens. One minute he's struggling against the leash spell, the next he's tripping on his own momentum as the magic suddenly snaps, as he tastes freedom for the first time in- in ever, probably. Adrien doesn't stop long enough to think about where he's going or why. He just bolts. (Marinette's spell goes wildly off-target, but it's a stroke of luck for everyone involved that it does).

fire lily petals by @fragileizy
“Do you believe in soulmates?” His little witch looks up from her mortar and pestle, setting a heavy book in front of him at the table. The weight of the textbook upsets the flame of their oil lamp enough to scatter and smudge the shadows around them, and he stares down at the page for something to do instead of looking at her glittering eyes. Of course I do, he wants to say. Of course I believe in soulmates. I believe in it every time you look at me, Marinette. It’s as true as the demonic seal that stains my chest at our contract— it’s as true as the demonic seals that burn on your ear lobes that you keep hidden with your hair at our contract. But he’s a coward. He’s nothing more than a coward. The great Chat Noir, the legendary demon who has fought countless demonic wars, who has looked at the concept of death thousands of times, helpless to the way this witch looks at him. “It’s very... fairy-tale-like. Is it not?” Part One: Chapters 1 - 20 Complete Part Two: Chapters 21+ In Progress

Episode 10
Pairing: Finnick Odair x Tribute(OC)!Reader
Chapter Warnings: more death, more canon typical violence, some bonding between allies because they gotta survive this bitch as long as they can...
Chapter Summary: Danger lies in places you least expect it. Whether that be in the form of a small animal, or in a harmless capitol citizen. No one is safe from anything in the hunger games.
Word Count: 3.2k
howdy ho, pls excuse my laziness as of lately and enjoy some daily updates (i am not lazy i swear i have been launching a literal fashion brand ToT)
Tumblr media
He snapped out of his trance when he heard the tail end of a half whispered conversation behind him.  “I imagine with her it would be marvelous, she certainly has the stamina,” one of the men behind him chuckled, the one on his left nodding in agreement before slamming back his drink. “Not to mention the flexibility.”
Finnick was restless, watching the screen, as usual.
He’d only gone into the viewing party to stir some chatter, enough to get a sponsor, but then he’d been back on his couch, Mags close by in a chair that was far too large for a sweet little old woman such as herself. She did not care to move, either.
It hurt her, to know that all this work, all this dedication, and all this commitment to the girl that came here from four might be in vain. But she kept a smile of optimism on her face for him, because she hadn’t seen him care so much about something in a long time. He had almost been numbed to these occasions, dulled to their effects. She held onto the same sliver of hope that he had been clinging to, praying that he would not be crushed if she were to lose. She couldn’t bear to watch him go through something like that again. The first time being when he watched the girl from his district die in the arena beside him. They trained together, they were allies together, and they had known each other before the reaping. Just like you and Lukas.
Lukas, the dear boy with the longing for a loving mother. Mags hoped she gave him a taste of what it was like, to have someone wrap their arms around you and to be proud of you without any cause or reason. Lukas needed that. Lukas needed a lot of things. She hated the rules of these games, hated the games more than anything. That boy deserves to live, deserves to finally be shown respect from the one person he craves the most… but Finnick’s girl. One who also deserves to live, to come home and to let Finnick hold you in his arms. Mags would never bring it up to him, but she knows the glint in his eye is more than just the protection of a mentor. The look of genuine fear when he feels his prized girl may be in danger is not just one of sympathy for another tribute. He’s latched onto this one, she can feel it. She only hopes that when the time comes for one of them to die, that she will not have to face the streams of tears… her own or Finnicks.
She watches him, the way he studies your every movement when the screen returns to the career pack, now depleted to three careers and a district seven tribute. A wild bunch they are, but hopefully the game makers will not overestimate their abilities. Lukas may have killed one tribute already, but Mercedes hasn’t. Mags doesn’t think she even could if she tried to. She knows that Finnick thinks the same thing.
His smile when he leans forward is sweet, seeing her open the note she had crumpled into her pocket. She mirrors his smile on the other side of the camera, not even realizing it. His heart melts as she reads it, and rereads it, and then once more. She’s clinging to it, holding onto that little piece of paper. It’s the only communication she can get from him on the inside of this damned arena.
-
“We should save those, we need to be using this time to gather other sources of food before more tributes come back to the cornucopia.”
Lukas was taking the lead again, and for good reason. There was little debate when it came to who was pulling the strings of this makeshift operation. He’d been the most confident with his survival knowledge, although he lacked in combat from the other careers.
“He’s right, by tomorrow, the last tributes are going to try and find us. It’s best we stock up everything we’re going to need before that happens,” Lyra said, throwing on one of the backpacks, one of the smaller ones full of Kunai knives and hunting lures.
“I w-wove this last night, it’s n-not standard, but it should w-work,” you held up to Lukas the fishing net you’d conjured before you’d gotten so tired the night before. It was far smaller than what he was used to, but it would work nonetheless.
“It’s perfect,” he smiled, packing it up into another backpack, slinging it over his shoulder as he nodded his head towards the trail ahead.
You all were going to need to find a river, but luckily for you, Rodey had claimed to see one earlier yesterday, when you were all barely limping back to the cornucopia.
He was doing really well this morning, probably on account of the sponsor he’d gotten. A new pair of shoes to replace the ones that were torn to bits from running yesterday. His blisters were killing him until those new shoes arrived. Now he was chipper as ever.
“It was a bit further out, had a waterfall behind it…” he trailed, leading you all in a twisting and turning hike through the foggy forest of vines and trees that were tall enough to be skyscrapers.
The scenery was something out of an old adventure book, something of an era you wished was alive today. Something where the hero gets the girl, and the danger comes to an end. You don’t see that happening at the conclusion of your story. You see your picture in the sky and the boom of cannonfire, ringing out in your ears before it all goes dark. You just hope it won’t be too horrible, too violent or too messy.
By the time you reached the river, which was barely even a river, you went to the edge to stand by Lukas. You looked out to the waterfall that was sitting at the edge of the river bank, creating the endless flow. It was pretty, or it would be, under different circumstances. The other two of the group had taken off, finding bushes full of Echinacea flowers, and started harvesting those in case of any possible infections occurring in the future.
“W-what do I need to do?” You asked the boy next to you, helping him take the net out of the backpack and unfold it enough that it will work to catch.
“Not much. Can you stand in this shallow part over here?”
You used his help to step down into the water, the surface level barely reaching your hips. The coolness drenching your clothes was a nice contrast to the constantly warm and overly humid environment. You’d been feeling sticky and gross for the past two days, and this was like a little bath of sorts. It rid you of that nasty feeling, and for once, you were happy to be standing in water.
“You’re good?”
“Yeah, I’m g-good.”
He nodded, hopping in as well and handing you one end of the net, beginning to walk over towards the further side of the small river. It was far deeper on his side, but it didn’t deter him. He kept steady, opening the net and allowing it to start blocking the flow of anything swimming through. There weren’t many fish in the water, so it would take a minute of waiting.
Meanwhile, Lyra and Rodey had stuffed their pockets full of the flowers and other plants that may be useful to them.
“So, Mercedes,” Lyra began, looking towards the riverbank and seeing you splash your hair into the water. She found it amusing, considering she heard one of the boys comment about her lack of swimming abilities. Maybe they’d been joking. She was from four, so it didn’t quite make sense.
“What about her?” Rodey’s brows strewn with confusion, he turned to face Lyra completely, setting his backpack down for a moment to sit and rest. It had been a longer journey than expected to get here.
“You call her Mercy, right?” She asked, and he nodded in return. What was she getting at? He didn’t care to interject yet. “Do you think…?”
“Do I think what?”
She sighed, looking once more to yourself and Lukas, before settling her eyes on Rodey.
“Do you think she’s actually merciful? I have to think she’d kill either of us if she had to, but something tells me she’s not so sure of herself… She’s strong, man… she’s really strong. But she doesn’t exert it. When she fought me in training, it’s like she didn’t care if she won or lost.”
Rodey’s eyes found your smile by the riverbank, something sweet and warm and full of life, the exact opposite of what these games are supposed to be. You contradicted the meaning the capitol gave them, and he wondered if that would be in more ways than one.
“She hasn’t killed anyone yet. I think when the time comes she’ll do what she has to, but until then, I wouldn’t bet on it being either of us.”
Lyra nodded, seemingly having the same thought. Rodey likes you, he wasn’t going to say something about you that could get you killed before you had to be. That’s the game, but for as long as he can he wants to take a page out of your book, avoiding the rules.
-
Finnick was standing as straight and tall as he could, his confidence on the outside rivaling that which had been seen for years. The side of him that people knew and loved. His cocky gestures and snarky remarks, the slight arrogance and acceptance of man worship at his feet. It had always been a facade, but it was harder to wear recently. Now he did his best to show that he was back, his original self was on display for everyone to see.
He’d taken the day to become a little more serious about sponsors. So far, there was only one need of a Capitol gift, but as the last days roll around, he knows that he needs to start racking up the funds. You and Lukas have dwindling supplies, and soon, he’s sure the game makers will be using that against you.
Mags never felt herself useful for this sort of thing, she always sat quietly in the corner and tried to simply read the room, giving tips to Finnick if he needed them. She was so thankful to have him by her side. He was so much better at being the talkative presence in these Capitol functions. Especially ones that had so much riding on them. Today, yours and Lukas’ lives. Next year, another pair of tributes who will need the same supplies, sponsors, and supporters. It was a crucial part of the games, and now more than ever, Finnick sought after these wealthy citizen’s personal assistance.
He’d taken a break from circling for a moment, standing before the screen, watching you help Lukas with the fishing net. The water was shallow enough to stand in, and you seemed to be doing alright, the current of the stream not pulling or pushing you in any which direction. You’d even dunked your hair into the water, bringing some relief to your body, having thoroughly been exposed to the heat and humidity of this rainforest. Even though it rained often, it was still warm and humid.
You’d whipped your hair back over your head, splashing Lukas in the face. He playfully scooped a hand into the water and threw it up in your direction, and you laughed with a wide smile.
You were so beautiful, your smile was stunning. He was momentarily frozen in wonder… awestruck wonder. Like a moment where you gaze upon a magnificent sunset or a calming scene of nature. Something that you have to sit and admire for a second, because damn… you didn’t think anything could be so lovely without even trying.
Finnick turned on his heels, staring down the gentleman’s face, and acting as though he didn’t know what was going on.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” He played, tilting his head to entice some sort of response.
“Oh, nothing. We were just talking about how agile and athletic your tributes are. You must be very proud.”
“I am, and I’m going to do everything I can to keep bad things from happening to them,” he said with a sarcastic tone on the last bit. He knew that with the look he shot the man to speak, they would consider another topic of conversation.
Finnick only turned back around when they moved on to talk about other tributes.
What he’d heard pretty much cemented in stone what he already thought to be true. If you made it out of that arena, you’d be doomed to a life the same as him. Being called into the Capitol for nightly visits until they grow tired of you. It took finnick five whole years to become old news… he can’t even imagine how loved you would be for many years beyond that. You’d somehow charmed him without even trying, and here he was on a mission to save your life because of it. He couldn’t fathom how anyone could grow tired of you. There’s no other tribute, past, present, or even future that has a chance of beating you in sweetness and beauty. There’s no other tribute who has your compassion, your mercy… as much as he hated that nickname for you, he now found himself clinging to it in hopes of repeating it back to you.
The people around him continue to speak of you, and he knows that his selfishness will use it to his advantage. Your life out of the arena would be filled with comments like these, and the repercussions of them, the work and practical slavery of them, not one ever being your fault. But even through all of it, he still wants you to live. He wants you to come home and have a house across from his and beside Mags’. He wants to keep giving you swimming lessons until you feel confident to go into the water without him. He wants to teach you how to fish like he and his father used to do. He wants to take you into the market and show you all his favorite places to get food. He wants to watch you thrive and grow beyond these games and forget about all the bad things. His want for your happiness, his need for your presence to return… It's what drives him.
He doesn’t linger on the screen for too much longer before he continues making his rounds.
-
The looks on the other tribute's faces when you offer them a piece of split open fish is hilarious. You can’t help but giggle. You have to sit for a moment and think, because no, other districts probably don’t just tear open a fish and eat it. How strange, that the tributes can be so different in culture, but still all the same.
You’ve grown up eating fish, grown up being around the smell and feeling the texture. It doesn’t bother you because it is familiar, and mundane.
They eventually sucked it up and tried some, knowing that by tomorrow they would have to eat it anyway.
“It’s not terrible, could use some salt,” Rodey joked around, twisting his face into different expressions with every bite he took.
“My m-mama cooks fish better than a-anyone I’ve ever met. Bakes it with lemon juice a-and pepper.” You smiled, willing yourself to remember your mother and her home cooked meals.
She hadn’t been able to cook in very large quantities lately, one of the primary reasons you’d been hungry so often. The loss of your dad’s paycheck was bound to take a toll.
“Sounds pretty good to me,” He laughed, leaning his shoulder into yours playfully. His attempts at affection were becoming more pronounced as the day went on. Offering you his hand to step out of the river, handing you one of the blankets to dry off with, his lingering touches and prolonged stares that lasted just a bit too long. You didn’t mind it. He made being in this hellhole a decent experience. You’re going to die anyways, might as well enjoy the time you have left.
Out of nowhere, Lukas’ yell of warning stirred everyone.
“Lyra, watch out!”
But it was too late. There was a long and colorful snake that had just sunk its teeth into her arm. Lukas immediately grabbed one of the short swords and cut it in half, ridding her of the animal… but the damage had already been done.
“What was that thing?” She grabbed her arm in pain, writhing around on the ground after feeling the spread of its venom in her veins. It turned them dark, the webbing of black inky venom had already sunk too far into her system.
“Lyra,” Rodey tried to still her movements, her screams of terror going in one ear and out the other. Lukas rummaged through the backpacks, along with you, to try and find some of that healing ointment that the sponsors had given you the day before. You’d found it at the bottom of the last pack, turning around quickly and trying to help her.
“Hold her still,” Lukas told Rodey, opening the canister, and applying some of the medical treatment over the entry wound, but it didn’t do anything. She still shook like a leaf, and wasn’t stopping.
You knelt down and grabbed one of the bandage rolls from the same pack, trying to tie off her arm and create a tourniquet from it. The venom didn’t spread as fast, but it was still going, slowly reaching the top of her arm as it crawled over every vein she had. She had stopped screaming, but took your arm with her other hand. She pulled your forwards, and your eyes widened momentarily in fear.
“Take it off, please,” she cried, her voice now slightly hoarse from the screams. You shook your head, about to protest, but she nodded. “I’m one less person to kill. Take it off.”
You looked at Lukas and Rodey, and they looked upset, but didn’t tell you anything. They didn’t know what to say. They had been happy to have this girl as an ally, but this is the hunger games. All will die but one, and this is Lyra’s time.
You looked back to her, your eyes welling up with tears. With a heavy heart, you untied the bandaging, letting the venom spread quickly again. Her flailing movements and screaming returned, but you had to step back, turning away and ducking your head into Rodey’s shoulder to keep her out of your eyeline. Once again the screaming stopped, and you looked back… Lyra had a look of peace in her now still eyes. She was gone, and the cannon fired synonymously after. You didn’t stop crying, and neither Rodey nor Lukas said anything to you about it. You felt like it was you. You felt like you’d killed her…
That’s the thing about mercy. It isn’t always about showing restraint, or holding back. Sometimes, it’s about giving in, and letting things take their course.

Singing My Sorrows (Reboot Wally x Reader)
A/N: This is part 2, to my previous (Reboot Wally x Reader). The character belongs to @bloodrediscream and some of the scenes are based off her artwork. Love your work! You're amazing. There are multiple POV's in this.
I chugged another shot down as tears spilled down my face. How could he do this to me? We spent 2 years together and he cheats on me! After everything I've done for him, the time I put into our relationship. I call over the bartender and ask for another shot. He slides one over to me, as soon as it touched my fingers I down it quickly. The alcohol burned my throat while my tears stained my cheeks. I bit my lips holding back anymore weeps. A soft sigh was made in front of me forcing me to look up at my server.
"You're going to drink me out of business if you keep this up." The bartender, Luka smiled down at me. He handed me a glass of water and some tissues. "Call it hindsight. but I knew you were too good for him."
I scoffed at the comment. "Yeah right." I take the water he offered me and slowly sipped on it. Luka has always been there for me. We've known each other since middle school, and I helped him open this place up once I graduated college. "Luka why haven't we gotten together? We've been friends together for so long it wouldn't even make a difference."
Luka gently patted me on the head. "Well, my sweet (Y/n) to put it simply. I'm very very gay."
My eyes welled up again and I face planted into the bar. My fist banging the painted wood. "It's not fair, I just want to be happy!" I looked up and picked up my shot glass giving it a little wiggle towards him. "Just give me the bottle."
Luka rolled his eyes at me but didn't argue. He had my card on file anyways, and I had more than enough money to pay for it. I already knew I was already nearing my limit so the bottle was more or less for show. I pulled out my phone and began looking through my contacts. I found my ex-boyfriend's number and proceeded to block then delete his number from my phone. He had been on there long enough. I went through all the pictures of us and deleted them. My heart felt heavy and my brain was dizzy. I hated feeling this way. I don't want to be sad anymore. I looked at the stage where the band was playing and then noticed the nearly empty crowd. I checked my phone for the time, it was almost 2AM. I glided my hands over my hair pushing it back and resting my hands on the back of my neck. Luka came back over to me cleaning a glass.
"Hey, I'm gonna close up soon. If you wait for me, I'll take you home."
I shook my head and tried to get up. "No. You've been making googly eyes at the drummer all night. I'm not cock-blocking your one night stand." Luka chuckled.
"I would rather you safe than me getting laid. Do you at least have someone to call to come get you?"
A small smile came onto my lips. At least someone cared about me. I looked through my phone contacts, scrolling through all the familiar names. Everyone I knew was either out of state or too far away. As I scrolled to the bottom of my contact page I noticed the saved number that I had yet to call. It had been 2 weeks since the meet and greet with the famed Welcome Home star, we had exchanged a few texts back and forth but nothing too meaningful. I clicked on his contact photo and looked at my autographed picture of him. I wondered if he was awake. The idea quickly left my mind when my phone was suddenly grabbed out of my hands. I quickly stood up to grab for it but my body failed me due to the alcohol.
"Does someone have a celebrity crush?" I felt warmth come to my face as I tried to regain my balance. "Ha that's too cute, he gave you his number on his autograph."
I reached for the phone again and Luka took a step back, the bar getting in my way. "Luka give it back please."
Luka looked at me and then back at the phone before giving me a knowing smile. "Oh you even texted him a little. Damn, girl you gotta work on your flirting. Sweetheart you've been single for how long?" He counted on his fingers and held them out to me. "2 weeks, and when did you meet this guy?"
I covered my face not wanting to answer. "The day I found out he was cheating on me." Luka nodded still holding my phone hostage.
"Well, maybe he can pick you up. It'll be good bonding time."
"Luka no, do not call him. If you press that button I promise you, I will throw a stool at you."
Luka looked at me with an evil grin in his eyes not caring about my promised threat. My eyes widened as I watched him slowly move his finger to the green call button on my phone. I began to raise a stool of the ground when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked behind me and saw the guitarist from the band, Mr. Romeo. He was an older gentleman, probably in his 50s who got roped into helping his grandson, the bassist. I remember when they first came into the bar and asked Luka for a gig, promising to bring in a crowd for the experience. Luka offered to pay them because of how good they turned out to be, but they all argued and just asked for free drinks and food.
"Hey, Mr. Romeo do you need something." I put the chair that I had begun to lift back on the ground.
"Would you mind doing some vocals with us Ms. (Y/n)? You know my grandson is always too nervous to ask you." He nudged me a little while giving his eyebrows a wiggle. A nervous smile came onto my lips.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Romeo I don't think I can. I've been drinking all night and I can barely walk straight. It wouldn'-"
Mr. Romeo shushed me and looked at the bar. He gave Luka a knowing look while putting his hand out. Luka slid him the bottle of Tequila I had been drinking out of. He grabbed my hand and placed the bottle in it with a big smile. Mr. Romeo went behind me and started gently pushing me towards the stage. "Nonsense, I know when you're drunk. Take a shot for every song and sing your sorrows. It'll be fun. I promise."
I rolled my eyes but stopped resisting and walked to the stage with him. I looked at the clock on one of the walls and internally sighed. At least the bar was about to close.
"You know I have a lag between my drinks."
Mr. Romeo just smiled ignoring my words as we walked up together. I sat the bottle of Tequila and my glass on the stool that was in the middle of the stage. I poured the liquid into my glass and quickly downed it as the music started playing. I felt my thoughts disappear and any doubts I had about coming up here. My nerves didn't exist as there was no one here to judge me and nobody I wanted to impress. The band started playing a generic pop song and as requested I sang the lyrics. Mr. Romeo was right, this was a fun and making me feel a little better. I began to move body and sway to the music, careful not trip over myself. The alcohol brought my voice out. I didn't care if it was terrible, off pitch or anything. I was too busy having fun to care.
~(o3o)~
Luca looked onto the stage with a bright smile on his face. He was happy you were doing something you enjoyed, even if you resisted at first. He did end up calling Wally as soon as you were on the stage, however he didn't answer. To his surprise, Wally called back shortly after. Luka wore a shit eating grin as he answered the call with no care of misunderstandings.
"(Y/n)'s phone how may I help you?" Luka spoke with a high tone customer serivce voice. He looked at you on the stage dancing, and bit back his excitement not wanting it to leak over the phone.
"Who is this? Where is (Y/n)?" Luka was surprised at how silky this man's voice was. Luka placed his elbows on bar, leaning his weight on them as he tried to picture the face Wally was making. Luka cleared his throat before speaking.
"Hi, this is Wally right?"
"Yes it is."
"Great! I'm a friend of (Y/n)'s."
"Uh-huh, that still doesn't explain why you have her phone. Where is she?" The voice sounded almost threatening, it sent a chill down Luka's spine. He shivered as if his body actually felt the cool feeling from Wally's tone.
"Well you see, (Y/n) is currently on stage singing and she needs someone to take her home as she is very drunk. I was wondering if you could do that for me?" A moment of silence went by before Wally spoke again.
"I'll come for her. Send me the address." The call ended as quickly as it started. It was sudden but Luka didn't mind, he shrugged and placed your phone in his pocket. He'd give it back to you once you were done enjoying yourself. He watched as you sang your heart out to these old and new pop songs. You always say you're never gonna go up on stage, but yet everytime you're up there you end up having the time of your life. Luka chuckled to himself while shaking his head. He moved to the tables of his usual late crowd and called cabs for everyone that was still here. The bar quickly became empty and it was just him, you, and the band left. He switched the sign to closed and went back to wiping down the tables.
The door to the bar opened, the sound of the bell causing Luka to look up. He saw a man on the shorter side with deep blue hair messily styled. He wore a white fitted t-shirt and black pants. His pants were accessorized with a maroon belt that bore a cute yellow smiley face on the buckle. It oddly tied the whole outfit together. If Luka wasn't helping you out he would've definitely tried his luck with who he assumed was Wally. Taking a seat at the bar Wally looked at Luka allowing him to see his jet black eyelids. He could understand why you liked him. He was hot. Luka fished for your phone from his pocket and quickly handed it off to the man.
"Here, so she doesn't forget it." Wally took the phone putting it in one of his pockets. Luka leaned towards Wally and pointed at you on the stage. "I give her 5 minutes before all the alcohol starts kicking in."
Wally irked an eyebrow. "Does she have a high tolerance or something?"
Luka laughed and shook his head. "Gods no. She has a very big lag though. She can start at 9 and it won't hit her until midnight. However, she's very good about keeping up with it so she doesn't get wasted."
Wally gave a knowing nod as he followed your movements on the stage. You looked sober from the way you were effortless moving on the stage and singing to the music. He locked eyes with you and gave you a small smile while waving. "She's pretty good."
Luka smiled placing a glass of water in front of Wally. "You should hear her when she's sober." Wally took the glass and took a sip. He suddenly began to choke on the water as he watched you take a pirate swig from a tequila bottle. He looked at Luka with a confused but amused look. Luka face palmed while pinching in-between his eyebrows.
After what felt like an forever, Mr. Romeo finally said last song. I felt relief flood my bones as I could finally take a break. I looked around the room and noticed a new figure sitting at the bar. My palms began to feel clammy as the figure smiled and waved towards me. My eyes widened as I recognized who it was. Before I could run off the stage, I felt a gentle nudge towards the stool. I looked behind me at Mr. Romeo who just shrugged and pointed at my mic. I looked at my glass that I hadn't refiled since the first song and instead went straight for the half full bottle. I took a huge swig of it before sitting on a stool in the middle of the stage. A familiar break up song started to play, but only one thought played in my mind on repeat. I'm going to kill Luca.
I steadily sat down in my chair as the song played. It was a fairly new break up song but man did it speak to me. I sang each and every note as right as I could. I made sure not to miss any lyrics and to stay on beat with the band. I looked behind me and Mr. Romeo and the rest of the crew were completely lost in the music they were making. As the noise died down so, did my voice and the song came to an end. There was a few claps from the only 2 people in the bar, I took a small curtsey and quickly went to exit the stage. I waved my goodbyes to Mr. Romeo and his group and headed for the stairs, not wanting to be in the way of packing up their equipment. Walking down the stairs proved to be a difficult challenge as that last drink had completely thrown me off balance. I felt my mind turn into mush, and slowly succumbed to the liquid poison. I tried to grab the handle but completely missed. I felt my knees buckle. I was going to fall, but before I could crash down the steps a pair of arms caught me.
"Nice song, you sang it like you wrote it." I looked down to see Wally staring at me with his sly grin and half lidded eyes.
I felt my face flush. I wanted to speak but no words came out. Wally held one of my hands as he helped me down the stairs, he wrapped his other arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer allowing me to lean my weight on him. I muttered a low thank you as he brought me back to my seat at the bar. Luka gave me a thumbs up as he poured me some more water. I pushed it away from me, letting the alcohol control my actions. Wally gently placed his hands over mine as he moved it to grasp the glass.
"Drink some water, and then I'll take you home."
I shook my head, and threw my hands in the air breaking our contact. "Never!" I giggle escaped from my lips as I stretched my arms into the air. I got up from my seat and pushed myself up to sit on the bar table. I crossed my legs and swung them from the edge as I hummed a tune. I felt a finger poke me in the back, I tilted my head back and looked at Luka. I felt my elbows buckle as I leaned backwards. Luka placed a hand on the edge of my back and gave me a gentle push foward. My body didn't resist and went with the motion.
"You're drunk go home."
"Am not. I am perfect."
Wally chuckled at my response and moved in front of me. He placed himself directly in line with my crossed legs, placing his arms by my sides caging me between them. Luka cleared his throat and said something about going into the back. I didn't really focus on it as my attention was drawn into Wally's eyes. They were a beautiful lilac color. I felt as if I would drown in them if I looked for any longer. I moved my hands from my sides and slowly placed them on Wally's cheeks. I squished his face in between my palms.
"Your eyes are so pretty, I feel like I'm being hypnotized."
"Can I hypnotise you to go home?" Wally gave me a small smile and placed his hands on my wrists. He cocked his neck to the side and gave me a concerned look. "How long have been crying for?"
I shrugged my shoulders. I moved my hands down from Wally's face and wrapped my arms around his neck. I pulled myself towards him, and leaned down placing my head in the crook of his neck. I just shook my head instead of responding to the questions. I felt my body losing itself to the warmth of his touch. I heard a chuckle as my eyes began to close.
~(-0-)~
Wally carefully lifted you up from the bar and felt you automatically wrap your legs around his waist, Wally fought back the smirk trying to sneak onto his lips. Luka came out just in time to see you off.
"Ah she became a backpack." Luka came up to Wally and gave your head a soft pat. He refocused his attention to the actor and handed him napkin with pen scribbled on it. He took it and shoved it in his pocket, careful not to move you too much.
"This is her address. It takes 15 minutes to walk there and even less to drive. Text me as soon as you get her home safely. My number is on her phone and she doesn't have a password." Luka's gaze turned serious as he spoke. "If you hurt her, I'll know. I will not hesitate to burn you to the ground. I don't care how cute you are."
Wally felt flattered and threatened at the same time. "Don't worry. She's safe with me."
Luka was correct, it took less that 15 minutes to drive to your place. Pulling up in your driveway, Wally looked at your sleeping face a smirk pulling at his lips. You were snuggled up with his jacket on you curled up against the passenger door. He pulled your phone out from his pocket, you had a cute background picture and no password. Swiping into your phone Wally texted Luka your status while also asking for the location of a spare key. Not a second went by before a response came in. Placing the phone back in his pocket, Wally got out of the car and focused on getting you into your home without waking you.
Setting you down on the couch, Wally fixed his jacket on you, covering your shoulders. You stirred and adjusted to the comfort of the cushions, but did not wake. Wally quietly moved away from you and headed into the kitchen. He grabbed a glass and filled it with water. He sat on the edge of the couch cushion placing the water on your coffee table. He had to admit it, you were an adorable mess. He moved a piece of fallen hair, tucking it behind your ear. His thumb gently caressed your tear stained cheek. You let out a heavy sigh and a smile formed. Wally removed his hand and took out his phone. He took a picture of your sleeping demeanor and set it as your contact picture. He leaned back into your couch with crossed arms and began to close his eyes.
He'd leave in the morning, for now he wanted to stay in the comfort of your company.

Miraculous Finale Review: Part 2 (Recreation)
Welcome back y'all, I hope you had a nice break from Conformation, because we are continuing our ride to the abyss.
You think S3 ending was bad? You think Simpleman was bad? You think Ephemeral was bad? You think Penalteam was bad? You think Evolution was bad? You think Destruction was bad? You think DERISION was bad? Well, say hello to Recreation, where you'll be taken for a long ride to the tunnel of The Writers Gonna Prove You're Wrong By Showing You How Much Worse They Could Go.
Tumblr media
Yeah, idk why i put that gif there, but i really like it when i found it.
Anyway, may the great lord have mercy on the poor souls watching this episode. Because this? This is just a huge, massive, gigantic, gargantuan, cosmic, heaven through hell level of no. In every single way possible. This is a disgrace on every writers out there. Everything is so wrong that I don't even know where to start.
I'll just go with something small and talk about the fight between Bugnoire (ugh) and Monarch. Remember when Hawkmoth beat the crap out of both heroes with just the butterfly miraculous, a miraculous that's not designed for a direct fight? Now he has one that can one hit K.O, one that can transport him anywhere, two that grants defense, one that can transform him into any element, one that can paralyze the opponent by showing them their deepest desire, one that can grant any superpower (stupid power), one that can disrupt his opponents power, one that can shrink and multiply himself where each of his replica can use the One Hit K.O power, and one that literally can turn back time (sure he can't use it anymore since it eats away his life, but desperate time takes desperate measures).
There's countless combination where he can win with literally no effort. How the hell did he lose, if not because of divine level plot armor?
And the way Ladybug (I aint calling her Bugnoire. But I'll admit i like the costume) so easily took the rings? Something that should've happened in Intuition? So not only did they kick Adrien out from the finale, they also had to insult his intelligence by showing how easy it was for Mari to do it. Hooray for Girl Power That Exist By Degrading Male Characters Into Moronic Dumbass Creatures.
Also, Ladybug now can summon a Lucky Charm to her liking? I mean, a piano, a baseball bat, and handcuffs? And she can do it infinitely now. So what's the point of the goat miraculous then?
"But the cat and tiger have similar power."
The cat caused bad things to happen to whatever they touch, and those bad things tend to be destructive. The tiger only cause destruction by punching it real hard Sure, Ladybug has more utility whereas goat has more flexibility in terms of power, but I'm adding it here because it's just total BS.
And we were robbed of LB and CN vs Monarch, but I already rant about it in part one, so I'll save room for other points.
Quick reminder on previous post, remember the whole quantum essence thingy that makes those walking Q-Tips able to track Ladybug because they're inserted with the essence of both the Ladybug and Black Cat power? Now Bugnoire has both, why aren't they going after her?
On to the next one, how is Lila isn't affected by the nightmare? And no, I'm not buying the "She actually got it, but it's off-screen" excuse. She already used it on her sudden friendship with Kagami, and if you think that excuse can be used again, in the finale, you're dead wrong.
Then things got worse with the end credit scene where Lila (she called herself Iris, but i refuse to call her that) just rolled in to a new school just by asking Damocles to let her in. Hello? Administration? I get it if she's the mayor's kid or something, but she's nobody. Classic miraculous, you never fail to disappoint me with your lack of logic.
Speaking of lack of logic, we got Mirakungfu (?) Luka and co. Just when i thought the show couldn't get any worse with their lack of explanation (sarcasm), they introduced this.
Where or when or why or how any of this was written in without prior hint or scene or anything that isn't going to get explained from a tweet where That Guy gonna block anyone who as slightly as disagreeing with him, i have absolutely no idea, and I'm used to it. I mean, sure, why not? Drop all the plot convenience, plot armor, retcon, and Deus Ex Machina in the finale. Heck, I'm suprised that Goku and Naruto didn't appear to find the One Piece under the Eiffel Tower and they become the World's Greatest Chef to finally defeat the Founding Titan who controls an army of Shinigami.
Dear Neptune, who the hell wrote this scene?
Tumblr media
Makes sense.
And I honestly don't know how it could get any worse, but at the same time we know it will get worse.
And Su-Han, you said you left to get some help from the temple in Multiplication, where is that help? Don't tell me the help is Luka and co who just learned how to kick asses off screen a few weeks ago? Good grief.
Still talking about the Mirakung-fuck-the-logic, we got Bunnyx. Yeaaaay. Oh wait, it's the adult version. The younger one still exiled.
What did she said? She can't meddle with the present, but Luka and co can? Yeah, that's right, and she proceeds to transport them to Paris, which literally her meddling with the present.
"Well she's not actually doing something there, so technically she's not wrong."
Technicality, technicality. Well technically I'm gonna whoop yo arse with a baseball bat if i met you, writers. Be ready.
Moving on to Gabriel's wish. He won, hooray or oh nooo, I couldn't care about it anymore. Anyway, we're shown how to make the wish, by calling the true form of Tikki and Plagg and call upon Gimmi.
First off, it's a waste of time showing their true form if in the end you're just gonna call someone else. It's like having the reception to dress like a queen just to ask them where the manager is. But you all know why this happen, since they need more dolls to sell.
Second, if all he needs to do is to call their true form, then why on heaven through hell didn't he just do that in Deflagration? He doesn't need to unify them, he just need to call. His victory was literally at hand and he can win, but OF COURSE they gotta drag things even further because they forbid logic to even exist in this stupid show! This is the entire conflict of the show, his main goal, and something he already knows how to do it, so tell me why on earth did—y'know what? Fuck it. I never see anyone complain about this plot hole, so certainly its not even relevant.
And now, the time has come, to talk about the reasons why this finale is not only bad, it's straight up something that will go down in cinema history as the worst thing that could ever exist. So take a deep breath, cause we're near the end.
Tumblr media
The pure, unfiltered, audacity they had to not letting Adrien learn the truth of either his father and Chat Blanc. The two most important things of his character, all gone wasted. All because they forbid this boy to show actual emotion and becomes an interesting character that exist outside of being a simp and a trophy wife.
"But he know about Chat Blanc from his nightmare."
Mate, that's his nightmare. Nightmare is terrifying, but it's not real. We know that's something that happened, but he doesn't. That's just a horrible nightmare that he constantly has because of the akuma. He never know that it's actually real, and will never know.
Plus, that's Anticat, not Chat Blanc. Different name, different identity, different everything, but the same BS.
And then another pure, unfiltered, audacity of Gabe telling Marinette to not tell Adrien about the villain he is but instead the time he tried to be a good father? This is the funniest joke I've ever heard in the show.
What exactly did you try to do to be a good father? Making pancakes that even flies said "I ain't eating that shit"?
You literally imprisoned your son, never spent time with him until you know you're dying, cut him off from society, make him as your forced labor for your brand against his will and violates the rights of children, not letting him love the girl he wants, forcing him to get together with his ex, fly him off to the other side of the world away from his friends, akumatized people that you know is after him, gave your son nightmare to get your ultimate plan to work, using parental authority to abuse him mentally, and you were trying to turn him into a villain!
Audacity.
And then there's another pure, unfiltered, audacity of making Marinette (deep sigh) forgave Gabriel.
"But she didn't actually forgave him."
She showed him kindness. She offered him another chance in his last moment. After everything he did. After all the people he hurt. After he literally responsible for her losing her life as a teenager.
He turned your whole family into villains, the whole world into mindless puppets, turned a pregnant lady into a villain, and have you forgotten that he turned your partner into a literal world destroyer that gave you PTSD? Sure, Chloe made you suffer and you won't forgive her, but him? Who did the same, if not universally worse? You could show him kindness?
"But it's because she's worried about Adrien—"
Adrien. Adrien. ADRIEN! THE PERFECT BOY THE PERFECT SON THE PERFECT THIS AND THAT AND AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH I HATE THAT GUY! HE IS ONLY PERFECTLY WASTED AND USELESS! SNAP HIM OUT OF EXISTENCE RIGHT NOW! HIS EXISTENCE RUINED EVERYTHING!
Tumblr media
I would love to end things right there and then because I'm sick of it. But no, the king of the worst thing to ever exist in history have yet to be talked about. This is the realest and most absolute fucked up thing in history of kids show.
Gabe becomes a hero
I know we shouldn't ask what they were thinking, but just why? What did he do to deserve a statue and the title of a hero? He's a fashion designer in public eyes, and that's about it. But that's not what's fucked up about it.
How could you even think that a girl who was mentally abused by her mother, never raised properly by her father, had to ask her mother why she doesn't love her, never known love, was disowned by her father for his own incompetence of raising her, and left with her abusive mother to be raised with most likely another series of abuse, as someone who is irredeemable?
And how could you even think that a terrorist, who's so fully aware and willingly imprisoned his son, cut him off from social life, prevents him from loving someone he choose, literally turned him into his slave to work for his business, and who would straight up beat him up once he learn he's a superhero, as a sympathetic villain?
"But people in the show doesn't know that."
Yes. That's true. But we know. We've seen what he had done. We've seen how rotten he is. We've seen how slowly crumbling into dust is a fate he deserves and we enjoy every second of it. And yet, after every vile things he had done, until the very end, Thomas and co still putting him under the "sympathetic villain" spotlight.
I know many of you who read this will try to defend Thomas and the writing. Trying to reason and excuse what he did here. But I'm sorry, I will not accept it. Even if he apologize, i will not accept it. Because this is beyond messed up. This is basically him spitting on the face of people who have been abused. This is him saying abuser deserves to be glorified.
Tell me folks: what logical reason do you have that you see a child abuser as someone who deserves to be seen as a hero?
This is no longer a matter of whether someone is an asshole or not. This is concerning on terrifying level.
I'm here to say this once, to all of you who still support the show: I'm concerned and sorry for you. The show that you loved, the show that brought you joy, the show that you may have recommended to other people and praise it, it was created by a monster.
Im not even gonna bother scoring it. This is not something that kids should watch. The message is too horrible to be let slide. It doesn't matter how good the animation and action is, they've spat on victims of abuse, and they're happy with it.
That being said, this has been my review. You can agree or disagree, just keep it civil with someone else who have an opinion. I know i might missed a lot of points, and I'm genuinely sorry if in the last part of this post i might be a bit too offensive even for salt post standard. But now, I'd like to hear your opinion. Was i exaggerating stuff or i made a wrong statement. Was i wrong for calling That Guy like that? Let me know, cuz you might help me see things in a different light.

If you're still doing the pairing meme: Tikki/Plagg, Alyanette, Felinette, Adrinino and Lukanino?
Oh wow, that's quite the list. *cracks knuckle* Here I go!!
Tumblr media
Tikki/Plagg
Screw canon with "Kwami don't understand love or human's feelings", Tikki and Plagg are the oldest married couple ever around!!! The balance, opposite attracts, fun bickering, sweet nickname Plagg only has for Tikki? They're married, your Honour!
Tumblr media
Alya/Marinette
Best friends to lovers is a go!! It's a shame the show is so inconstant with Alya's characterization, but let's forget it for a moment: Alya is the one who openly stood up to Chloé for Marinette when they didn't know one another, Alya keeps rooting for Marinette in everything she does and helps whenever she can, is her confident and keeps giving her pep talk... what's not to love? Sure, Alya isn't perfect, and she's still a teen learning subtility among other things. And I don't think I need to expand on what Marinette does for Alya and everyone else, the poor girl even needs a long vacation! Burn whatever Lila is doing to Alya's brain whenever she appears on screen, Alya is a good friend and potential GF for Marinette!
Tumblr media
Felix/Marinette
I am glad Felix was replaced by Adrien, I don't care if the quality of the show dropped or is imitating a roller-coaster ride. I've seen enough "girl is infatuated with a (selfish) boy who's acting like an asshole to her, whilst drooling all over a persona of hers", and I am glad they went for the "classmates-friends-to-lovers" route. Felix isn't "a jerk with a heart of gold", that's fanon Felix, and while some creators have very good AUs for the pairing (some I even follow!), it got tarnished in my eyes by the too many salt fics where Felix comes around to "save Marinette from EvUlanDsTOopiD classmates and Adrien". UGH. I despise how they made Felix an asshole only to try and make me feel sorry for him afterwards, there are two kinds of assholes, and Felix in his first apparitions wasn't in the "likeable" one.
Tumblr media
Adrien/Nino
Underrated, underdeveloped, wasted potential, WHY?! They would make a very cute couple!! Also, gimme more of their friendship on screen goddamnit!!!!! They would be so fun to follow, example: Nino is usually being chill and smiling yet he (internally or not) completely freak out when Adrien makes a social faux pas due to his upbringing or casually buys him some expensive stuff "DUDE PLEASE DON'T 😨" "Did I do something wrong?? Are you mad? 😢" "Nonononono I'm not mad but... next time, just follow my lead and keep your money, please??" (still he lets Adrien give him gifts though because it's one of his love languages)
Tumblr media
Luka/Nino
Anon, either you've been through my main blog (respect, for it's so chaotic and mostly untagged) or you're a mind-reader because it's a rare pair that I'd love to see more!! I admit that the idea crossed my mind kind of randomly, mostly when I was working on my Miraculous Team AU, but then I couldn't stop thinking about it. With good development, these two could work well! They'd make a fun, cute and chill couple, both music lovers and artists in different fields. Nino could be the shoulder Luka could lean on, he who is so often the one to dry people's tears, the two would support each other in a calm, steady way. Nino's perseverance would inspire Luka, and Luka's hidden sneakiness would come in handy for Nino... so much potential!

animation was MESMERIZING
nino and alya were really well done, I love them. loved nino already having a crush on her. individually, I loved how they were such great friends to mari and adrien
every time I saw a cameo from the show, I screamed. "don't be bemused, it's just the news" YEAH!!!
LUKA!!!!!!!! LUKA!!!!!!!!! LUKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I'm so sad she didn't say "miraculous ladybug!" when fixing paris
"Chloe, enough. The adults are talking. Why don't you go fix your hair? It looks like a rat's nest" OHHHHH SHE IS EVERYTHING TO ME
adagio for strings playing in that scene was fucking insane
careless whisper as cat noir fell in love was fucking INSANE
do kids need fart jokes in the year of our lord 2023. has it ever been funny
the cataclysm was really well done. I felt adrichat's shock and fear of his own power (and maribug beautifully fixing paris after that was unintentionally so funny. he's really the Rogue to her Professor X)
love how messy ladynoir got, just like the show
I think adrichat and maribug were really well portrayed/adapted. though marinette revealing her identity was......... hm. I get it. but. hm
gabriel went from this guy to this girl so quick:
Tumblr media
gabriel you fuck.... you had me believing..... I came here with an open heart..... bitch
I... didn't like the songs much 👉‍👈‍ I would say I vibed the most with the villain song, but yeah.... I wish they were each more distinctive, that each character had a signature style, and the duets combined both
adrien saying he hadn't smiled and meant it for such a long time, nooooo 😭😭😭😭 SON I HAVE A PEN, LET ME SIGN THE ADOPTION PAPERS
adrien standing up to cringefail gabriel !!!!!!!
loved their portrayal of sabrina
loved the progression of villains, loved them bringing the mime back, loved the saving paris montage in the middle of the movie
loved marinette growing in confidence, and loved how they showed her anxiety in the beginning
the fair festival chaos got me GOOD I was PUMPED
when I realized marinette was singing on top of ladybug spots !!!!
adrien's transformation ate
this didn't happen too often, but some shots kind of felt like they dragged? tikki would ask something, and instead of going to marinette, we stared at tikki for like 5 seconds after that 😅
"he's not my-- I MEAN, her boyfriend" babygirl..........
them cutting to "THE END" like THAT. BRILLIANT. BUT WHOSE IDEA WAS IT. I JUST WANNA TALK
marinette carefully listening to adrien talk about his mother might be the most important scene of the movie for me

Marinette a cruel person tbh. Even a psychopath or hell maybe im raising the bar a little too high but a stranger would be able comfort ChatNoir seeing his situation. The New York special and him spiraling made me despise her because someone fucking died to make this partnership work.... this isn't even inconsistent characterization from past seasons this is very consistent she's always been like this. Girl ain't willing to even see what underneath the mask eh? or believe he has other things to do besides fucking risking his life as a teenager im surprised their dynamic lasted as long as they did because she comes off very cold when it comes to her partner compared to Alya. Why she like that hell if I know had it been me i'd cuss her out or at least tell her off. How the hell you don't comfort a human being when they show their insecurities I don't know especially someone you've worked along with that saves paris numerous times.
I gotta ask if Chat Noir was more vocal and angry and actually lost it on her would it finally stick it in her damn head that he isn't someone who pops into existence defeating akumas but a very real boy underneath? You know I have know fucking clue personally what is so hard for her about that being a respectful partner and understanding that Chat is human. I remembered in origins he took more of a leading approach I think sorry my memory is dogcrap these days and yet he encouraged her and gave her confidence what so hard returning the favor back?
I mean, comparing her to Chloe? That's like choosing between a rock and a hard place. Chloe's got that villainess aura, sure, but at least she's upfront about it what expectation is there to be had for a cannon fodder villain like Chloe with a creator who hater her to the point even in-universe she still the story punching bag . Now Marinette, oh please, she's got this pristine "heroine white lotus" thing going on. It's like she can do no wrong, and the world just eats it up.
And don't get me started on Ephemeral. Talk about a masterclass in betrayal! She pulls a stunt that would make Judas proud, corrupts herself with power, and what? No consequences, no rules, just a free pass to wreak havoc. Must be nice living in Marinette's world where the rules only apply to us mere mortals.
And let's not forget her emotional boy toys, Luka and Adrien, just waiting there like loyal lapdogs, ready to clean up the mess she leaves behind. It's the Marinette show, and everyone else is just playing supporting roles in her drama.
But hey, who needs nuance when you've got that heroine Marinette halo shining so bright? It's the perfect excuse for her to mess up royally, and everyone will still be there, cheering her on with no accountability taken . The world's her playground, and we're just living in it.
I'm sorry for ranting it's just im done with her sorry if I made it negative for you.
Calling her a psychopath is too harsh ngl. I disagree with you on that. I don't think we should be throwing around words like that lightly.
But I do agree with your overall point. Very harsh, but pretty close to the mark. I also personally wouldn't compare her to Chloe, but then again, that all went out of the window after the Season 5 finale. I wouldn't call her cruel or evil, but she does benefit from the protagonist centered morality the show adopted in Season 4. Chat Noir shouldn't expect anything from her, and he should apologize for her mistakes because she can do no wrong. It sucks.
Thank you for your ask!

Court of Miracles - Chapter 3 - Reveal
Beginning || Previous || Next
Luka grumbled as he fought with his necktie. A knock on his door interrupted his battle. He turned as Anarka stepped into his room.
            “You almost ready?” Anarka asked.
            “Yeah, just fighting with this.”
            Anarka chuckled. “Need help, lad?”
“No. I got this. I’ve done it before.”
“Alright, but I’m only giving you-.”
A man pushed past Anarka and struck a pose in the room. “Surprise!”
Luka and Anarka turned to the man and stared. He wore a sleeveless under bust corset tailcoat that trailed behind him in long peacock feathers, a blue shirt with sleeves that flared and dangled at his elbows with a few buttons undone to expose his chest, black pants, and white knee-high boots. His messy, beach blonde hair was slicked back in an elegant mess that framed his face perfectly. Gold bracelets and cuffs adorned both his arms with a single gold earring in his right ear.
“Adrien? What are you-?” Luka started.
Adrien tackled Luka, kissing Luka. Anarka cleared her throat, earning Adrien’s attention.
“Adrien, what are you doing here?”
“Huh? Oh! Well, it’s rather simple. I wanted to see my darling little snake charmer. It has been so long after all.”
“We were on our way to the Court soon. You could have waited.”
Adrien cooed like a bird as he nuzzled Luka. “Oh, I know, but I couldn’t wait any longer. I just had to see him. He is my favorite after all.”
Anarka scoffed. “You may be the Peacock, but you need to leave Luka be. You’ll need to focus on finding a suitable mate, not just some passing fancies. It’s your responsibility to-.”
Anarka stopped abruptly and left the room. Adrien let out a long sigh and cuddled up to Luka.
            “Are you ok?” Luka asked.
“I’m fine. Just tired of hearing that same bullshit. I know what I should be doing, but that doesn’t mean I want to do it. Not that they’d accept I want you even if they did take me seriously.”
Luka opened his mouth to speak, but Adrien continued.
“I mean, now they’re pushing me to be with that stupid Butterfly girl. She’s so annoying. All she does is preach utter nonsense about how I’m such an utter disgrace and need to act like I should. The utter nerve of that little brat. I am a glorious peacock and a Highborn at that. Where does she get off shaming me like that? Honestly, where? Oh, and don’t get me started on-!”
Luka kissed Adrien to silence him. He kept their faces within an inch of each other’s. “We can talk about this later after all the pompous and ceremony when it’s just us and the only eyes are your fabulous feathers.”
Adrien cooed softly. He kissed Luka on the lips and trailed to Luka’s ear. “You need to get better at tying ties, my sweet toxin.”
Luka looked down at his perfectly tied necktie. “Hey, mine might not be perfect, but it gets the job done.”
Adrien snorted. “That mangled mess is far from getting the job done. Besides, what message are you sending looking like?”
Luka smirked. “You know, not everyone cares about appearances, right?”
Adrien gasped in feigned horror and dramatically fainted into Luka’s arms.
“No, say it isn’t so. You couldn’t have possibly uttered such blasphemy. Not you, my heart, of all people.”
Luka rolled his eyes as he scooped up Adrien. “Alright, your Majesty. Save the theatrics for later. We have to get going.”
Adrien shrugged and snuggled up to Luka. He cooed while Luka carried him out towards the door. Luka stopped dead and back stepped.
Adrien looked up. “What’s going on?”
“Stay low. Don’t let her see you.”
Adrien cooed. His head turned to the front where he heard a pair of women yelling. He rolled out of Luka’s arms and approached the railing. His eyes widened seeing Anarka fighting with a young lady covered in layers upon layers of clothes.
            “Who’s she?” Adrien asked.
“Uh, that would be Juleka. My twin.”
“Wait. You have a sister, and you didn’t tell me?”
“Well, I wasn’t allowed to. She kinda had her memory of the Court and everything erased at a young age. So, you know.”
Adrien grimaced. He turned back to the fight and listened to them.
“Juleka, please. I just need you out for a few minutes, then you can come right back. How hard is that to understand?” Anarka demanded.
Juleka sneered. “And how hard is it for you to just let me go to my damned room? Why are you trying to toss me back out in the freezing cold? Is this it? Is this the day you finally fucking realize you don’t want me? Is this the day you realize you should have tossed me out sooner?”
“Juleka, that’s not what I’m saying. You know we care-.”
“Don’t fucking finish that damn sentence. You don’t care. You never did.”
“I didn’t? Then why did I send all those years clothing and feeding you? How can you say I don’t care?”
“Because you didn’t have the mother fucking balls to put me up for adoption like you should have. Maybe then I’d have a mother that actually loved me and a brother that didn’t treat me like trash to be tossed aside.”
Adrien glanced back as Luka flinched as if Juleka’s words physically struck him.
Anarka scowled. “How dare you? How ungrateful must you be? We gave you everything.”
Juleka laughed harshly. “You fucking tossed me aside the moment I was inconvenient. You showered the fucking golden child with everything. And what was I? Nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing. And right now, that nothing just wants to hide away and not see your ugly ass mugs.”
            “You have no right to-.”
“Shut the fuck up and get out of my way, banshee.”
Juleka attempted to push past Anarka, but Anarka held her back. She struggled against Anarka’s grip with the door flung open. Everyone braced against the cold while she let out a horrid animalist shriek. Everyone gawked at her except the newcomer, Jagged Stone, their father.
“What’s up, party people!” Jagged Stone cheered.
“Shut the damn door you damned fool!” Juleka roared.
“Excuse you, but who do you think that you are to command me? I’m the legendary-.”
“You’re the legendary slacker that was out of fashion and relevance back in the seventies. The only defining feature about you is the hippie, fuckboy whoring around and excessive drugs you overindulge in to maintain any semblance of importance,” Juleka hissed.
“Well. You are… very mean,” Jagged Stone remarked.
“And I’m about to get a whole lot meaner if you don’t shut that damn door.”
Jagged Stone crossed his arms and stood indignantly. “No. Do it yourself.”
Juleka opened her mouth to yell, but only managed a loud, menacing snake hiss. Everyone watched as Juleka transformed into a large black cobra naga with a turquoise underbelly and diamond markings down the length of her back and tail. Juleka hissed again and advanced towards Jagged Stone but collapsed onto the pile of her torn clothes.
Jagged Stone fainted at the sight while Anarka ran to shut the door. She ran back to Juleka. She flinched at Juleka’s ice cold scales. Adrien jumped down to the main floor with Luka and joined Anarka.
“Anarka, did you know?” Adrien asked.
“I… how could I? I never thought… I mean with her powers never developing at the proper age, I just assumed… Oh, Juleka.”
“Mom, now’s not the time. We need to get her to the Court,” Luka interjected.
“Right. Right, the Court. They’ll need to see this. They’ll have to help her.”
Luka placed a reassuring hand on Anarka’s shoulder. She gave him a smile while Adrien lifted Juleka onto his shoulders.
“Let’s go. The Court of Miracles awaits.”

If you're still accepting birthday asks... may I please get more biker fairy AU but with Luka/Marinette as grandparents?!?!?!
Sequel to Motorcycle Fairy, Cute is the New Sexy, and Fairy Ring
Fairy Dream
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” Luka said, as he got a pair of folding chairs out of the battered old camper and set them on the grass of their campsite.
“It has,” Marinette agreed, opening the chairs as Luka lifted out the cooler full of food they had brought. “I wish we could have ridden here.”
Luka smiled, running a hand through navy blue hair that was showing white at the roots. “Me too, but it’s just too long a drive for us nowadays. At least this way we can bring some amenities. And you know you wouldn’t want Jake bringing the kids on the bike either.”
Marinette hummed agreement. “There you go, being all practical,” she sighed.
“It’s entirely your influence and you know it,” Luka laughed. “We’ll go for a shorter ride later, once the crowds thin out a bit,” Luka promised. Their motorcycle was in the camper’s trailer.
“A sunset ride sounds nice,” Marinette admitted, smiling at him. The sunset picture of them that first time they’d met up at Le Mans, sitting on Luka’s bike and looking starstruck at each other, still had a place of honor in their house. Many others had joined it; they had visited Le Mans every year until the kids were born, and they’d gone off and on once the children were old enough.
Nowadays Le Mans was a special occasion trip, though, and they always rented a campsite. Their little camper had served them well ever since they had saved up to buy it as newlyweds, seeing them through many an adventure. There had been times they thought of trading it in, but Luka always managed to fix it up again, and now it was practically part of the family.
“A lot has changed, hasn’t it?” Marinette said, sitting down in the pink chair with faded flowers stenciled on the back.
“It would have to,” Luka pointed out, opening the cooler to hand Marinette two bottles of water. “It’s been, what, forty years? If nothing had changed the place would be looking pretty sad.” He sat down in his own chair as Marinette twisted the cap off of a bottle and handed it back to him. He’d managed to keep his arthritis mostly under control so that he could still play his instruments and tinker with his bikes, but he accomplished that partly by taking it easy when he didn’t need to be using his hands.
Luka took the water, transferred it to his other hand, and reached back out to take Marinette’s hand, caressing her fingers with his thumb. Dropping everything to go to Le Mans that weekend forty years ago had been the best decision of his life. Everything good that had happened to him came from that—from Marinette, and the life they’d built together.
He saw her face light up and smiled, before turning to see their son approaching, two small children clinging to his hands. They grow so fast, Luka thought wistfully. He missed holding babies. That warm, soft weight in his arms brought him indescribable happiness.
One of the little girls let out a screech and came running to throw herself in his lap. “Easy, easy,” Luka laughed, even as he squeezed her as tightly as he could. “How’s my little songbird?”
Evie smacked a kiss on Luka’s wrinkled cheek. “I’m hungry,” she announced, and Luka grinned.
“Then you ought to be snuggling up to your grammy,” he teased. “You know she’s the one who controls the food.”
Evie promptly hopped out of Luka’s lap and went to join her sister, who was already hugging Marinette while begging for treats.
Jake strolled up chuckling. He grabbed another folding chair out of the camper and set it next to his father. “How was the drive?” Luka asked, reaching into the cooler.
“Not bad.” Jake shrugged, accepting the soda Luka handed him and cracking it open. “Didn’t have to make so many stops this time.”
“Where’d you park?” Luka asked, and Jake gestured vaguely.
“A ways,” he said, “but it’s a nice walk.”
“How’re things with Anna?” Luka asked, his voice low, and Jake grimaced. “That good, eh?”
“Same old same old,” Jake sighed. “I know she loves us, but I think she loves her job more. Right now it’s just trying to decide if I can live with that.”
Luka put a hand on his son’s shoulder and squeezed. “We’re here for you whatever you decide.”
Jake smiled. “I know. Where’s Erika?”
Luka snorted. “Gearing up for the race, of course. You know she likes to spend some time alone before she gets on the track.” He tried not to show his irritation, or his fear. It turned out it was a lot harder to watch one’s daughter taking stupid risks riding a death machine at insane speeds. Safety gear had come a long way over the years but his heart still clenched when he watched his baby girl on the track, even as he screamed support and glowed with pride.
“She’ll be okay, Dad,” Jake said, and Marinette paused her snack distribution to pat Luka’s hand.
“Of course she will. She’s the best,” Luka bluffed, and Jake rolled his eyes while Marinette giggled.
“How are things going with the shop?” Jake asked, and Luka grinned while Marinette groaned.
“I still can’t believe we did that,” she muttered.
“We met at that shop,” Luka protested. “I couldn’t let that idiot run it into the ground after all the work Michel put into it.”
“At least it gives him something to do,” Marinette told Jake philosophically.
“Not that I’m doing much,” Luka confessed. “The manager I hired is great at her job. I’m just there to smile at customers and stay out of her way.”
“He’s plastered the place with Erika’s racing posters,” Marinette put in, and Jake laughed.
“It’s good for business!” Luka protested lamely.
“That’s totally why,” Marinette giggled.
“I’m not ashamed of being proud of my daughter. Or my son.” He smiled at Jake. “If they made posters for awesome dads I’d have you papered all over the store too.”
Jake snorted. “Thanks, Dad. I love you too.”
Luka reached over and ruffled Jake’s carefully arranged black hair, and Jake made a face at him as he patted it back into place.
“You’re not overdoing it, though, are you?” Jake asked. “Running a business can be rough.”
“Honestly, Delia does all the hard work,” Luka reassured him. “I just help with the fun stuff like inventory ordering. I did go to a trade show with her once to check out some new products. That was a lot of fun but it did wear me out,” he admitted.
“Hmm,” was all Jake said, but he didn’t ask any more questions, satisfied that his father was enjoying himself at least.
“You should stop by sometime soon,” Luka told him, squeezing his shoulder. “I bet we could get you some customers for those sick custom paint jobs.”
Jake looked away. “I haven’t done that in a long time.”
“Doesn’t mean you can’t pick it up again,” Marinette said gently. “It’s never too late, and the girls are old enough now to entertain themselves for a bit.”
“Think about it,” Luka told him, and let his hand drop. “The offer’s always open.”
“Daddy!” Maddie popped out of seemingly nowhere and leaned on Jake’s knee. “Can we go see the bikes?”
“Sure,” Jake said, smiling at his youngest. “Let’s go. Does anybody need to go potty first?”
“Me!” Evie yelled, and darted into the camper.
Maddie groaned and pouted, but Jake coaxed her into walking over to the next campsite to check out the bike parked in front of it.
Luka watched them go, and then turned his eyes on his wife, who was cleaning up the trash from the children’s snack tornado. He beckoned, and Marinette came to him, perching on his knee. She had always been thin, but these days she seemed to weigh nothing at all. She leaned into him, and he looped his arms around her. “We’ve come such a long way,” she said softly, and Luka nodded, rubbing his cheek along her silky gray hair.
“Here’s to another forty years,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to her temple. Marinette laughed.
“How long are you planning to live?” she teased, tapping the tip of his nose with her finger.
“As long as I can have another moment with you,” he whispered with complete sincerity, and kissed her.
Jake looked over his shoulder as Maddie babbled about the bike, and smiled when he saw his parents. He slipped his phone out of his pocket, and as they pulled back and smiled at each other, he took their picture. He’d show them later, he thought, turning away with a smile.

MINIFIC: Oct. 23: Day 26: Séance (MLB, Lukanette, DLM AU)
Daisy, Daisy Adair, for those unfamiliar with the show, is a reaper who comes in to replace my favorite another reaper about six episodes into S1.  She’s the self-proclaimed Queen of the Blow Job and uses that bluster to mask a lot of negative self-feelings.  She’s beautifully tragic, once you get past the “I miss Betty and don’t like you” of her.

To Feel Alive Again: Ch26: Séance
“No.”
“But –”
“No.”
Marinette paused, Luka’s front door open barely a crack, and listened to the irritated voices inside.  Well.  Luka sounded irritated.  The other voice – Théo, she was pretty sure – just sounded annoyed.  Whiney.
“Luka, friend -” Théo tried again, just for Luka to cut him off with  a harsh we’re not friends, “– be reasonable!”
“I am being reasonable,” Luka huffed.  Théo tutted.
“All right, be adventurous then!” he cried.  Luka snorted.  She heard movement closer to the door and bit her lip before taking a nervous step back.  She needed to knock.  She needed to –
“I made a friend and saved a dog from the accident that was supposed to kill him,” Luka snorted, his voice closer.  “Now I have a graveling infestation and a shedding problem.  I think I’ve been adventurous enough this year.”
Marinette paused again, her hand raised to knock.  A graveling infestation?  What was Luka talking about?
“Don’t do it for you, then – do it for me,” Théo wheedled.  “I need money, Luka!”
“Then get a fucking job,” Luka bit.
“That’s what I’m trying to do!” Théo cried.  There was a rattling slam on the other side – like Luka had just slammed the fridge door closed.
“A legitimate job, dumbass,” he spat.
“It is legitimate!  Daisy said she does this all the time!” Théo said.  “One hundred percent foolproof!  Grieving families will shell out hundreds for a message from beyond – and you knew the beyond personally!”
“…Daisy?” Luka asked, sounding incredulous.  “That’s your ‘foolproof source’?  Théo, that girl was –”
“A genius, I know,” Théo said, and Luka scoffed.
“I was going to say slut, but apparently that’s too insensitive these days,” he said.
“You only say that because you never took her up on her offer,” Théo snorted, and Marinette found herself pausing again.  “She was quite talented, my friend.  Might have loosened your tight ass up for once.”
“…we’re not friends, and my ass is just fine,” Luka bit.  “And I call her a slut because of her…’offer’.  Jesus Christ, Théo, don’t you remember the shit she caused the month she was here?  Mendeleiev was a nightmare for months after she left.  Do not instigate anything.”
“I’m not instigating – I’m – whoa!” Théo yelped, and the next thing Marinette knew the door was being thrown open and Bach was jumping on her with a deep, excited woof.  She fell back, her butt hitting the carpeted floor, then fell back again as Bach crawled on top of her, snuffling and woofing at her as he tried to lick her face.
“Bach, Bach, easy!” she laughed, even though she knew the poor guy couldn’t hear her.  She looked up, panting, once she finally got him to step back and saw Luka grinning down at her.
“You are a sight for sore eyes,” he said, hooking a hand under Bach’s collar to tug him back and extending another to help her up.  Théo was at his side before she could say anything, a slimier grin on his face.
“Marinette!  What a surprise.  Come here often, pet?” he asked, and she pursed her lips as he leaned towards her.  When she didn’t answer, he sighed and turned towards Luka.  “Think about it?  I’m willing to do an even split.  Fifty-fifty.”
“I’m not faking a séance with you, Barbot, and if you dare even try I will tell Mendeleiev,” Luka said, no room for debate in his voice.  Marinette’s eyebrows rose in shock.  “Especially if you try it with that family.  Have some respect for the dead, you ass.”
Théo just rolled his eyes, nodded towards Marinette, and strolled down the hall, whistling.  Marinette looked back at Luka, frowning.
“…séance?” she asked, and he groaned as he ushered her inside.
“Don’t ask,”’ he sighed.  “Théo’s an idiot.  Your company is much preferred.”
She smiled as he closed the door behind her, and he froze when she leaned up to kiss his cheek.
“Your company’s preferred, too,” she said, humming happily as she took Bach from him and headed towards the kitchen.  When she glanced back at him, he was still standing by the door, a dumbstruck smile on his face.
