I'm sorry, but Frank Angones' answer to this question makes me laugh:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pffft, what?? When the Drakes adopted Boyd at the end of 'Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake', Boyd hacked Doofus's bank account and transferred half Doofus's inheritance from his Gummeemama into his own bank account so he could share it with Mr. and Mrs. Drake. They had more than enough money to buy themselves new clothing...

if season 4 happened, do you think they'd change the intro to incorporate may and june? : r/ducktales
Well now as a follow up to my previous post I am even more curious about this individual. Especially with this discussion here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I can at least collaborate the Negaduck stuff since I have seen posts on it and the thing on Donald's and Della's parents with this moment fron the art boom here.
Tumblr media
Negaduck is brought up here as well.
Tumblr media
But I can't find any proof of what else he was saying like as the other guy said. And considering what else is said in the book I think the twist was planned since the beginning and the others were backup ideas just in case it continued. If anyone can contact him on anything else please let me know. I am quite curious about it. But with everything I have seen I belive the only answer to this whole Season 4 thing, especially with what Frank once said, is that they probably didn't have an exact end idea and already figured that Season 3 would be their last. The equivalent I can find is this on Transformers Animated Season 4 which Matt Youngburg was also involved in.

Art of Ducktales Review: Just Ducky
Tumblr media
Hello everyone and welcome to an extra crunchy bonus review, as I take a look at something you knew I was going to get eventually but thanks to mom telling me I wasn't getting it for christmas, I bought way sooner than expected: The Art of Ducktales, the art book released just last week from Dark Horse, containing interviews with tons of the crew, mostly Matt and Frank as you'd expect, behind the scenes art, and more good stuff. It was 50 bucks for the standard version but was it worth it? Join me to find out This was something I was jazzed for and for good reason: My love of ducktales is well documetented on this blog having covered the major arcs for season, all of season 3 and some assorted episodes. And i'm not really slowing down as I have a Gizmoduck arc planned for sometime next year (whenever Kev wants to do it), and a review of "last Christmas!" in just a few weeks. While I plan to still pace myself I do want to have reviewed EVERY episode at some point. Ducktales was everything I coudl've hoped for, more and then more AFTER THAT, an expertly crafted show spread over three wonderful seasons that should've gotten a fourth. What we got was still great though, so naturally a book honoring that, especially from disney who RARELY makes merch for older fans of their DTVA shows, and one that's sales could impact us getting one for Owl House, was like catnip. The fact that it was written and put together by Ken Plume, the same great dude who put together the awesome Art of Venture Bros that I still use reguarly for my Venture Bros retrospective was just the cherry on top So did it live up to the hype? Welll... yes and no. The bad news is while I HOPED for some content about what episodes could've been, some new factoids about the characters already.. there wasn't much of that. What we have gotten through tumblr (and Kev sending me posts) has mostly been thorugh the supplemental book that came with the deluxe edition I didn't buy because it was 80 dollary doos. I was already pushing my budget getting this. From that we did find out Hortense and Quackmore are still alive and living on Grandma Duck's farm.. but...
Tumblr media
Like... did they meet the kids before Della came back? Why would they go along with Donald's lies? why did they never try to patch the donald and scrooge riff?
Tumblr media
What is their relationship with the kids? How would they react to Webby, both pre and post revelation about her being a clone now and the two of her just a hangin around donald adopted? how would they treat Daisy? why are they on a farm? These are questions we fans can answer and i'll have fun doing so, this book reignited my passion and writins for the show so I might just do that, but it's stil baffling to just drop that bomb and not fill it Out matt, and especailly in the delxue edition. We also get conformation it was Matt who clearly missed the queer subtext with Webby and Lena as not only does it never come up but he outright calls them "friends who are sisters". Maybe he dosen't care some fans ship them? maybe it's his interpretation? I dunno and as one of the co creators it's fair for him to interpret it that way.. in a sense
Tumblr media
All in good fun of course. I do respect Matt. But I also expect my right to disagree. Anyways, we don't get any new blistering insights into the world itself. But it's MORE than made up for. While this book lacks in what we coudl've had it's a really GORGEOUS celebration of what we did get. For starters we get a LOT of in depth info on the creation of the show, it's themes, and I gained a new respect for a guy I didn't even really know existed, Seam Jimenz who was the shows art director. The stuff he pulled off for the show, the tone he set and everything he and his crew were amazing. A lot of the book is he or other people on the show detailing how they pulled off shit that came off efortless to me and making me love the show even more. From blocking an episode in an enclosed place for Last Crash of the Sunchaser, to how they ONLY used fog for Missing Links of Morshire or the castle eps as a stylistic choice, to the little bits of comic fuz you see in every background there's a lot of cool details. We also get lots of great art, from the protype designs of the kids, to Lena's own evolution, to various concept art for characters. There were a lot of good designs before the awesome ones we landed on. We also get art of incidental stuff like the posters from Terror of the Terra Firmians, the very gay cake from Night on Killmotor hill, the darkwing first darkness poster.. if your a hardcore fan of thes how like I am there's a LOT to love here. So in short, as this is a fairly short review if you love hearing the people who made this show fantastic talk about how they pulled that offf, character stuff, episode ideas and other neat little stuff, this is for you. if your hoping for more of the show.. this sadly isn't it.. but maybe it'll get us more. Either way it's a great insight into the beautiful found family this show created that gave us one of my faviorite shows of the last decade. Woo-Ooo!a

This is not talked about enough
Tumblr media
What is this?
Well, it's a poster featuring Gosalyn and Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck.
It's a poster of Darkwing Duck... presumably a promotional poster.
Now, like me, you may be wondering "Where did you find this?" And I'd answer with "Well, I found it on Twitter". Then you'd ask again "Where did OP find it?" And I'd answer with "Hm... I don't know"
I don't know. I don't know OP found it. I don't even know if it's real.
It could just be really well made fanart. But why would OP make fanart copying the DT17 style, have it printed out, pin it on their wall, and then post it to the internet all just to be bait? That sounds like... so much work for something that was barely talked about.
Oh yeah, I've also seen not that many people talk about online as well. Did it fail? Did it work and I just can't find any post talking about it? What is it?
Speaking of "not talking about it", let's say it is a promo poster. Where are articles discussing this? The Ducktales fan news sites would've eaten this up, where are their articles? Oh right, can't really find that either. The information regarding this poster is so scarce as well as coverage on it based on what I've seen.
I asked a cartoon server I'm in about the poster and one of the members said they heard it was featured in a video with Darkwing Ducks DT17 voice actor, Chris Diamantopoulos. Which, if that's true, I can't find the video either.
Now don't get me wrong, Frank Angones hase dropped a few winks when asked about the spin off, so that could be true who knows. Then there's also this from Gosalyn modern voice actress Stephanie Beatriz regarding the spin off.
Tumblr media
So, was it real? Was there genuinely going to be a spin off taking place post Ducktales 2017? Was that a leaked poster revealing the truth? Again, who knows.
Now as you see in my previous paragraph, I used was, as is past tenses. Why does that matter? Well because it was apparently cancelled??
Tumblr media
What?? So much for that I guess??
If you don't know who this person is, they're basically the person that "kickstarted" the whole leaked poster reveal in October 2021. They then tweeted yesterday that it's from a cancelled spin off miniseries. But, I don't believe them cause I don't even believe it's real. I'm not certain it's real cause of how not talked about it was.
I look at this whole thing and think of the SpongeBob mockumentary, Sponge out of Water, where it wasn't even real to begin with.
So is it real? Is it just bait? What is this and why has no one talked about it?

So, how do you think Frank Angones should've gone about interacting with fandom then for DuckTales (2017)? Do you think Matt Youngberg (the other co-creator of the show with just as much authority as Angones) was any better with fandom interaction and why?
When it comes Matt Youngberg I can't say because I personally didn't see by myself npr ever checked his accounts so I can't make up. But Frank Angones should have not been so immature with blocking accounts for not liking his shows (not harrassing him or even talking to him, just posting a review on their own accounts and he found them) and also openly showing support to some sides of the fandom and headcanons which, as harmless as it sounds and as much as I do believe he had good intents, can become very toxic and be used as an excuse for bullying from other fan to fans who do contracting stuff, and him not helping by replying or liking which gives them much power. Explained here
I have no problem with creators interacting with the fandom and answering questions. I do with participating like another fan when no, you can't, you need a certain distance for the long run. Think of Neil Gaiman who loves answering questions about Good Omens but did put a limit for some asks saying it was not of his resort to agree or not but fans to decide because headcanons and fanfics were meant for that. It's aknowledging you created a universe and giving keys all while allowing them to gove their takes. As well as accept some do not like and ignore, and some will like ships or headcanons that you didn't think of or don't like and will never be canon but you have to be neutral and let them have fun without dogpiling

webbigail vanderquack is everything to me. she's eleven years old. she's four foot four. she plays cello. she speaks like five dead languages. she likes pink. she decorates her room with stars and rockets without knowing they're what killed her aunt in the house of the man who killed her. she believes there's good in everybody. she loves violence. her favorite drink is juice. she's a martial artist. she's never played a video game before. she doesn't know how to whistle. she's a lesbian but she's pretty preoccupied with being eleven years old so she doesn't really care. her top artist on spotify in 2018 was ABBA and her second top artist was The Monks of the Abbey of Notre Dame. she writes fanfiction about scrooge mcduck. she was raised by an ex spy with trust issues and dark secrets. she bullet journals about ancient civilizations in sparkly gel pens. she's beaten a god at wrestling. her greatest dream is to be a mermaid. she's even latina

Frank Angones quotes - Pt. 2
Tumblr media
So, Feb. 12, 2020 was the date the episode 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' got screened before the production team to fully review for the first time (it aired on May 2nd). But I love that Frank got emotional over the hug between Gyro and Boyd when they saw the finished episode (and felt compelled to tweet about it that very day)!
And that scene made storyboard artist Sam King tear up back when she was only storyboarding it, which is so cool and shows that the emotional impact came through even in that early stage.
Tumblr media
Also, in The Art of DuckTales, co-creator Matt Youngberg had this to say about the episode (he was referring to that scene):

Jason Zurek, the director of the episode, had this to say in Art of DuckTales:

this is old news but i am so glad paget brewster accidentally exposed the lies of the ducktales crew (mostly frank angones and matt whateverberg). they lied so much about the finale being “planned from the start” and that they “”knew”” that season 3 was their last season. continuinally said it wasn’t cancelled to everyone on twitter, but i always knew better. it basically was cancelled bc they weren’t renewed for a season 4, idk why they are so butt-hurt to admit it. i love my ducks, but ducktales genuinely left me so bitter because of everything (rushed ending, so many loose ends, bloated cast, events happening off-screen having to rely on word of god for way too many important events, and so much more). i don’t trust those men and i hope their egos were bruised from this news being released. ducktales was so great, but they fumbled the bag so much that i don’t even want to rewatch it anymore. thank god duck fans have comics and 86 years worth of donald duck content to enjoy.
