WBJ Day 6: Gender/Sexuality

Humans have widely varying views on gender and sexuality, but are generally welcoming of people who aren’t heterosexual. However, there is subtle gender inequality in human society (with men being considered slightly superior), and humans often look down on those who don’t identify as the gender they are assigned at birth.

Lithic are almost all agender and are exclusively asexual (most likely due to the fact that they have no sexual organs and don’t reproduce sexually), and are generally very welcoming of people regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Sexuality and gender among the Johren vary just as much as the Johren themselves. While heterosexual relationships are encouraged in Johren society to keep the race alive, the half-demons almost never look down on someone because of their gender or orientation.

Sirens traditionally consider women superior, although that notion has been abolished in a few cities and towns. They have a tendency to be bisexual, but are welcoming of other sexual orientations.

The Megaq are the least welcoming of those who aren’t heterosexual, at least among their own race. However, no gender is seen superior to another among them. Heterosexuality is urged among the Megaq to keep their relatively rare species thriving, similarly to the Johren but to a greater extent.

It is worth noting that both the Seabound races rarely wear clothes, the Megaq because producing clothing of their size is impractical and the Sirens because they consider clothing the trademark of the “Upper World” and prefer to show their vanity with jewelry anyway. Though neither race looks down on being transgender, their lack of clothing causes many of them to never come out.

Finally, the Cirrus are the most welcoming of transgender people (other than the Johren) and very few of their cities have a gender hierarchy in place. However, they do occasionally look down on homosexuality (although bisexuality and pansexuality are fine in their eyes). Many homosexual Cirrus use the excuse of being bisexual or pansexual to cover up their true orientation, providing another “closet” not seen among any other race.

Yesterday Rob and I did a little Monday schmooozing in Hampden, we stopped into a couple stores, took some pictures. @Hampden is one of my favorite #Baltimore neighborhoods. It’s full of great little shops, restaurants and amazing people that are full of Maryland/Baltimore pride as you can see in the picture above. I love ❤️ how they painted the whole house as the Maryland flag!! After we finished wandering we ate breakfast at @thefoodmarket, swipe to the left to see the amazing plates we scored. First up was the soft pretzels for an app, then the army breakfast for me and the chicken and biscuits for Rob. Our favorite was by far the soft pretzels 🥨 and beer cheese, they are so sooooo good and definitely worth a trip back. I also saw a Peruvian cheesesteak on the menu, it’s made of pulled short rib which is my absolute favorite so I’ll definitely be going back to try it out. Jukeboxes have always been an American pastime. When you think of jukeboxes, most people think of the 50 19s, when the greasers and cheerleaders would gather around and play their favorite songs in a diner. However, if you think jukeboxes have died, they haven 19t.

Since then, they modernized and changed significantly to the touch of convenience, where smartphones have dominated the music industry. If you think all there is left of public music is dance club and DJ 19s, well think again. Jukeboxes are still around and grooving with life. So let 19s go explore the pastime of jukeboxes with this national holiday.

History of Jukebox Day

The term jukebox was coined from the term 18juke houses 19 or 18jook joints 19, which were establishments in the early 1900s where people gather to drink and listen to music. The first jukebox was invented in 1889 when Louis Glass and William S. Arnold created the first coin-operated player.

From the 1930s to the late 1970s, jukeboxes soared in demand and went through many radical changes. However, it wasn 19t until 2010 when TouchTunes, a music corporation that revolutionized the vintage jukebox with touch screens and mobile apps that interact with a person 19s library.

TouchTunes then proclaimed Jukebox Day as a national holiday in 2017 and since then has made a TouchTunes Jukebox sweepstake that allows a person to share their jukebox memories and play songs through their app to win prizes.

They founded this day as a day to celebrate the classical jukebox and the memories it evokes for people of all ages. This day also falls on the day that the first jukebox was invented, and since it occurs on the day before Thanksgiving, it happens to be when people travel to bars and restaurants to listen to their favorite music.

Is there anything as nostalgic as tuning up music that got its start on vinyl and LP 19s before CD 19s and DVD 19s took over everything on the equipment that used to grace every club, restaurant, and bar?

How to celebrate Jukebox Day

You could purchase a jukebox, but they tend to be expensive. However, with TouchTunes it isn 19t because you can download their app and locate a TouchTunes jukebox in your local area and play songs through there.

Using the hashtag #JukeboxDay, you can share how much you love jukeboxes, and also follow TouchTunes on their social media websites. However, if you 19re into the more traditional jukeboxes, you can find your local 50 19s diner and play songs on their jukebox.

WJB Day 4: History

Humans and Lithic were the first races to walk the world. It’s still uncertain whether humans built the Lithic, or if the Lithic were inanimate “prototypes” the creator god (who is anonymous and unworshipped) made before making humans. Soon, the Sea grew to Envy the Land and wished for people of its own, and so it turned creatures of the sea, large and small, into the Sirens and the Megaq. a rivalry grew between Land and Sea, and from it came evil; demons went rampant, and a race of half-demons called the Johren were born. Then the Land and Sea, and the people who came from both, had a common enemy. The two agreed to make a new continent, to exile the demons and the Johren to. The Johren realized they were evil, and wished to be good. So they fought their demonic parents and very nearly rid the world of full demons. Few demons remain even to this day.

With their common enemy defeated, the Land and Sea were both at peace, with each other and with themselves. The people of the two worlds, however, returned to war, and neither Sea nor Land could get them to stop.

Then, a god from another world came and made the dead Sky alive, and soon the Sky had its own people, the Cirrus. These cloud dwellers relied heavily on trade from both the Landbound and the Seabound people, and quickly became friends of both. Through their common allies, the people of Land and Sea were finally at peace.

Battles were still fought, but never wars. Every so often, the power of demons would rise again and the people of the world would join together to stop them. With the people of the Land, Sea, and Sky combined, this usually proved an easy task. But, nearly 1000 years ago, one powerful demon cast a curse on all the people of the world, so that each one race would suffer a disaster before one large disaster would change the world as a whole. First, a century after the curse, a great sea monster attacked a Megaq village and laid waste to nearly half of it. The next century, a mountain suddenly erupted and buried some of the most ancient Lithic nomads in ash and lava. 100 years later, a great underwater tower of the Sirens crumbled in an earthquake. Yet another century passed, and a fire spread throughout a large city of humans. Half a millennium after the curse, Aerphon, one of the greatest floating Cirrus cities of its time, plummeted to the ground. Finally, in another century, a massive wave struck Helösten, the capital city of Deromi where the Johren rule.

Some say the final disaster will occur 1200 years after the curse was uttered, and others say it will take place in three years, a millennium after the curse. Only time will tell which will be the case.
