Hi! My name is Sea, and I have an unhealthy obsession with taking on large community projects! This is my Final Fantasy XIV Community Compendium, focusing on linking as many XIV writing/roleplaying discords, forums, events, free companies and resources as I can get my hands on. While the inspired by and predominately tailored for roleplayers, it should have something for anyone looking to engage creatively with the game in some capacity. ⭐

If you'd like to simply check out what the Compendium is all about and miss my waffling below, any of the links on this post will take you there — but this is a handy one! A reblog also goes a huge way to increase my reach and find communities/resources; you're also welcome to share this post with people not on Tumblr who might be looking for communities/resources or have something to add.

Why a compendium, Sea?

In my opinion, the way people engage with fandom and communities has changed. It was once extremely common for people to hop onto the XIV Roleplaying Forum or find people looking for contact on Tumblr, but most of these resources have shifted to Discord. While Discord is great for keeping a community when you have it, the isolation of these communities into hidden, secular spaces doesn’t do a lot to help people find them in the first place and creates an air of loneliness/disconnect for new players or people looking to find specific communities. I don’t believe that a person should necessarily be a part of x amount of servers to find the one that suits them, nor that all communities should necessarily be on Discord — or just plain hard to find. However, while this is currently the standard, I’d like to try and help these communities be fostered and seen in a place accessible to basically anyone with an internet connection. If one community has benefited from this document, then I have done my part.

This is my monthly drive to showcase the Compendium but find new things to add! A lot of the below is already on the document, but I split communities/resources into four distinct spaces:

Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game.

Free Company & community-focused servers. E.G. an Ishgardian Roleplay server whose mission is to foster a community for Ishgardian characters; an EU server created to help players struggling with timezones. This also includes event discords such as fight clubs, markets, cafes, etc.

Friend/casual servers that have a roleplay element but may be just a group of people looking to find others to hang out and do content with.

Miscellaneous. Likely to be less community servers and more resources such as lore compilations, how-to guides, gposing techniques, boosting blogs, etc. These may get their own dedicated section later.

Is my space suitable for the Compendium? Most of the time, yes! Below the read more is some more information/stipulations. Again, all accessible on the document! 🪸

Below are the following things I do not accept on the Compendium:

Personal/Single-Character LFC ads.

Content intended for or can be used for bullying, harassment and OOC gossip. E.g. ‘Secrets’ blogs, receipts, callout posts, etc. This does not include IC tabloid blogs used to generate RP.

Communities that do not have an RP/writing element (large-scale exempt).

Anything I find personally distasteful or goes against the spirit of this project.

Common-sense rule applies.

FAQ.

I want to put my community on the compendium but we have an application process. Is this okay?

Yes! Just note somewhere in your application that's a requirement. The only thing that is mandatory for the Compendium is that you must be open to new members or have a public-facing/accessible facet. There's no point advertising a community if no one can join it in some way!

I want to put my community on the compendium but I only have x number of members —

Also totally okay! People don't start with large communities. Activity is a must but, whether your server has two or two thousand members, if you're looking for new people to join, I'd love to help you find people.

I want to put my community on the compendium but I worry its too niche?

Okay, and? If your Eorzean Fishing Alliance has four members but you roleplay every second weekend, I still want to know about it.

What resources/communities can I add if I'm not the owner of them?

Mutual consent is extremely important to me, so anything that isn't a large-scale community OR a publicly accessible resource must be endorsed by the owner/admin/moderators in order to be added to the compendium. I operate under the assumption that a resource posted to a public space (tumblr, googledocs, youtube, etc) is open to all. A large-scale community is one with a significant member count or openly advertises itself as being accessible to everyone for whatever purpose it serves. If in doubt, please get in touch with me. I'm happy to contact your community owners for you!

How active does a community need to be?

If you find a community has not been active in about two/three months, send me a message and I'll take a look at it. Communities have ebbs and flows, especially event spaces that may take hiatuses depending on member interest/life events. I'm not strict in my implementation provided a space isn't dead. If a link or anything is broken, absolutely contact me about that.

Meeting a Pen Pal

I have no idea if I'll make this an rp or story but I really love the concept and this was a fun drabble to make.

Warning: Lot of talk of monsters that eat folk. But none that actually happens yet.

Juniper had been a bit hesitant to sign up to try the service at first. But the ad had free trials because the company wanted to use them to test things while they worked out everything before marketing it further. Some sort of magic crystal equivalent of pen pals. The crystal let you talk instead of just writing. She was curious about how they differed from normal communication magic. Apparently these were designed to only connect to a specific other crystal. This service they were testing was supposed to take your interests as a way to match you with a potential friend. She really didn’t have friends, so… it seemed worth a try.

So she filled out the form. She wrote about her interest in books, including which types were her favorites, then about how she enjoyed exploring hard to access areas in the deep woods, and even loved flying along the bluffs south of the barrier. She wrote down that she could sing, and someday wanted to learn magic. She wrote down she liked nature and biology, even listed off creatures she found interesting. She even found the monsters outside the border protection fascinating! She had read up on how many had different, unique biology not found among the less dangerous species. Of course she understood they were too dangerous to study, many even seeing folk like her as food, but it was still interesting to read about the dangerous species. She submitted her form and waited.

Juniper saw others on the street talking on their new, distinctive crystals before long, communicating with trial members at areas on the far sides of the haven or in other havens, and she felt a bit sad. It felt too fitting that she would be the only one not to get a match. Lonely as ever. She felt heartbroken that she was too different to talk to anybody. Maybe it had been a mistake to mention she found monsters fascinating. It probably scared others off.

Then, she finally got one. A match. She hoped beyond hope it would work out. She heard some people turned theirs in to try different matches… maybe that’s why she finally got one? She didn’t care why. She had a chance at a friend. She had been so lonely. So when she had a break, she got it out and used it the first time. No answer, so she left a waiting message introducing herself.

By the time she was on lunch break, there was a reply. She loved the friendly tone of the voice. When they mentioned a nice spot to chill, talked about the trees and the view, she was so excited! They liked to explore too! They even mentioned a spot just barely past the protection barrier… She thought she was the only one besides official transports who went past the barrier! It was so exciting. So she talked about a particularly difficult to reach area just past the barrier, the stream that ran through and how nice it was that nobody really went there.

Soon they talked about books, and while she didn’t recognize what they mentioned, nor did they recognize hers, they happily talked about the plots of their favorite books and how they could check nearby stores and their respective libraries for the books. They would talk late into the night sometimes, and Juniper even sang for her new friend sometimes. She hadn’t sung for anyone in ages!

After a few weeks, the idea of meeting in person came up. Juniper was excited. Her new friend must not have been as far away in the sanctuary as she expected! Apparently they recognized one of the areas she described. Yes the woods were very dense and the hillside steep, that’s why both regular folk and monsters had little interest in it. But they seemed confident they could handle it as well. So Juniper packed some water bottles and snacks so she could spend her whole day off there, and left to start the trek.

Unfortunately this meeting would not go as expected. She flew up the steep slopes, taking careful pause at her usual spots. She loved it up here. She knew there was only one predator hunting this area, and she had reasons to believe it would continue to ignore her occasional treks up here. Mostly because it couldn’t catch a quick winged fairy. She was glad she had taken the time to be sure of that modicum of safety. Couldn’t really take risks with such dangerous monsters. When she finally got to the highest part of the hill, she sat down under a tree to catch her breath, taking a sip. She pulled out her crystal to look at it. No pulse of light, so no waiting messages. Hopefully they would get up here. She really couldn’t wait to finally meet her friend.

Hi there! First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read these!!

You can call me Bibis, I’m 25 years old and roleplaying has been one of my hobbies for over ten years, I’ve been a part of the Bleach fandom for about that same amount of time too. However, I still haven’t finished reading the manga (I’m always working and when I finally have some free time I have no energy to do anything guys, help). But I’ll eventually finish it, I swear… Or I’ll at least watch the anime bc I’m super hyped about this revival. ANYWAYS, yes, this is just a heads up that I do know some things about the last arc of the manga but not everything. But don’t worry, depending on what we choose to write, I’ll do my reasearch!! <3

Shipping can be super fun, but only if there is chemistry. So there has to be a lot of plotting and our characters need to interact a few times for me to consider shipping them!! Instant shipping / pre-established romantic relationships are not really my cup of tea. I won’t write romantic ships with minors, btw, please don’t insist.

My main verse is set when Ichigo is around 18 years old and finishing up high school!! But if you wanna interact with older Ichigo, or have a plotting idea that would work best with the older version of him, do let me know!! Hello, I'm smokingtiger, a chronically ill college student in their twenties studying linguistics and the Korean language. I think I'm most well known on this platform as someone who gives their unsolicited opinion on all things bangtan and bangtan ship discourse. I've been a fan of BTS since 2015 so I have seen this fandom in all of its most vibrant moments. I am a major defender against toxic solos because I ride and die for all seven members of BTS, so slander against any of them will not be tolerated!

I don't subscribe to any particular pairing but I am not someone who hates rps! Usually, I just like to give an outsider/neutral point of view on certain pressing questions that this fandom has towards certain events, so that's what I'd considered to be the biggest chunk of this blog.

Feel free to shoot me an ask about any particular pairing/fandom event and I'll try to evaluate it. I'll be your personal ship therapist, so if you just want to wax poetry about why you think something is the way that it is, come and do it in my askbox. I do have a busy schedule so it does take me a bit to get from ask to ask.

All shippers welcome (but at this point, most of the people at my front doorstep are taekookers and jikookers. You guys are like cute little stray cats paying me a visit)

I typically do not address things/images leaked by sasaengs unless they become incredibly widespread and/or relevant to what I'm talking about. I try my best not to spread things like that and/or promote material posted by stalkers; think of it as outside evidence not properly submitted to a court.

If you leave a heated ask in my inbox and it contains information I have previously addressed, I really won't take your anger seriously; I'm someone who gives little care to outbursts unless there's actual merit to the conversation. I just think that if you take the time out of your day to write something lengthy like that, you can also take the time to check my previous asks or tags using the very useful Tumblr search option on my profile. I think that would be best to clear up any chance of miscommunication, because nine times out of ten, some of my angry anon questions or concerns have already been answered and/or addressed.

Also if you want to ask me something privately, just let me know that you want to start a DM, I have no qualms with that.

And as a final reminder: this page is primarily ship neutral, but if you get confused by the occasional ship post from me, it's usually surrounding aus. I write; it's a hobby of mine that I've been trying to get back into after years of illness plaguing me. I've explained that I don't necessarily think that any ship in BTS is 'real' and that I'm not rooting for any particular pairing -- but I do engage in the creative 'shipping' aspect of the fandom, so expect some fic and au posts. And yes, as a writer, I do favor certain ships (mostly due to the dynamics), but like I said, I'm not cheering for them or praying for the downfall of another. When it comes to legitimate points outside of the creative zone, I treat them all equally. I'm somewhat mentally stable... Just somewhat.

RP-Scenario: Bedtime Hunger

I went to bed with a hungry tummy last night. It didn't start growling until my head hit the pillow. Unfortunately, it was passed 2AM and I have to be up at 8 to get ready for work. I'm writing this now because I was rudely awoken by some intense hunger pangs around 6AM...so...yeah...have this.

Write me a continuation, RP-Ask or RP-Lite. What would you do in this scenario? Hunger-fiends welcome. I was leaning more toward keeping it empty in this scenario--but...yeah...surprise me. Inspire me. Let's see what you've got!

Quietly, I stagger into our dark bedroom. You're already in-bed--asleep, from the looks of it. I drew closing shift tonight and transit has left a lot to be desired. I opted to brush my teeth and such in the bathroom furthest from our shared bedroom to avoid waking you.

I wasn't supposed to work closing tonight. I was opener and it was supposed to be a shorter shift. Apparently, the two other people that were scheduled at the food-job today chose to not show up for whatever reason. I didn't find out until 40 minutes after my scheduled end-of-shift. It's a food job--the posted schedule is just a guideline; you don't end your shift until someone comes to relieve you (unless you're closer). Boss begged me to stay until they could sort out who would be closing. I watched the clock, serving the massive influx of customers that started 10 minutes after my scheduled end-of-shift. 40 minutes after my scheduled home-time, I finally texted to ask what was up. No closer. Boss had claimed to have called every person on our staff roster and literally nobody would come in to close. Boss begged me to remain, to close up shop. I was ready to say 'no', but more customers were coming in and I was literally the only staff member in the store from open to close. It was either serve 'em, or boycott my shift and be fired.

Our hours of operation today were 8AM-10PM...meaning I started my shift at 7:30AM and was supposed to clock out by 10:30PM at the absolute latest. Yeah...clearly that didn't work out. Another bogus policy here: if you leave stuff undone for tomorrow (i.e. dishes, or leave the prep undone) you get written up...and with enough write ups, you're fired and/or have your hours cut. Higher ups don't care about the circumstances--"not done is not done", they'll tell you as they write you up and call you a "problematic" employee on their employee files. Yes...it's a craptacular job...but customers are pretty generous with their tips and free/discounted food is a win in these times.

Speaking of 'food'...I didn't have any today. There was not a single moment where I could break for lunch because I was the only staff in the shop all day and customers decided to come in waves. I'd clear one wave and have barely enough time to wipe down the serving area before a new set of 3-5 customers would stroll in. I was stressed out and constantly busy...so I guess I ignored the clenching and rumbles from my tummy all day. It's shocking what stress will do to you.

I'm definitely feeling it now...but it's late, I'm already in bed, and I don't want to be on my feet a second longer. If I get up to hunt down something to cram into my neglected tummy, you'll no doubt wake up and be pretty crabby.

As I settle under the covers, I feel a tightening in my core. Crap. I curl around the growing ache, turning away from you and mentally pleading with my guts.

*Please--not now. Stomach--not now. I have to be up in 4 hours. I'll put something in you in 5 hours. Please...please don't do this*

Of course, when has my stomach ever listened to my pleas? A wet, burbly rumble breaks the silence of our otherwise-quiet bedroom. It's deep, it's long, and it comes with a sharp, pinching ache that makes me moan. I bite my pillow to stiffle the noises as I feel my stomach walls grinding against each other--desperately searching for anything to digest. Honestly, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many sips of water I managed to sneak while at work.

So lost in the agony ripping through my belly, I don't notice a shift in the bed as you stir. You heard the desperate, pitiful howl of my bowels. Best. Wake-up. Ever. You only wish you had been closer to the source of that lovely sound and that you had been awake to hear it from the beginning.

My stomach continues to snarl at me after the big rumble. Smaller ones now. It's almost like all the stress of work caused my stomach to stockpile hunger--to save it for a moment when I could finally relax to unleash all the hell of 15+ hours of starvation on me all at once. They may be shorter and somewhat quieter than the initial one...but the angry squirming of my organs is no less painful.

I feel something slide over my belly, nudging my arms away from being pressed tightly over my tum.

"Aww...does someone have an upset tummy? Lemme..." You whisper, still partially in dream-land.

The added touch enhances the sensations in my gut. Tears prickle my lashes as I feel the gnawing pains get turned up to 11.

"Uuunnnh....s-sorry..." I mutter between whimpers and moans. "Nnngh...h-hungry...'m so hungry...it hurts! Ugh...m-my tummy really, really hurts..."

Sliding closer, you lay your hand over my stomach, feeling it rumbling beneath your palm. You trace the feeling of spasming intestines, following the direction of my digestive tract to apply a firm pressure over everything, starting at a random spot in my intestines, travelling down, then following it back up. Your massage spreads the hunger pangs across more of my guts, dispersing the cramping ache across a wider region of my guts and quelling the ache somewhat. Like taking a big ball of pain and spreading it out so that it covers a larger area, but registers as less painful overall? After a few minutes of this you finally rest your hand right over my grumpy, hollow stomach organ. You dig your fingers in, squeezing the shrunken organ rhythmically...both stirring it up and quelling the angry rumbles that result. Imagine gripping the muzzle of a snarling animal with your bare hand...that's essentially what you are doing.

I groan as I feel the discomfort in my abdomen being spread out. Instead of just one massive cramp causing me to curl up, it's at least seven smaller cramps exploding all over my guts. I can feel all of it throbbing, twitching. If I were flayed open right now, my guts would definitely be twitching with cramps passing throughout it all like those distracting lights on arcade games--"over here--No! Now i'm here--Haha, missed me"...like the worst ever game of whack-a-mole.

"What's in here?" You furrow your brow, pressing around my stomach and trying to feel for what's upsetting it so and coming up empty.

"Nnn...nothing...'m starving."

"Didn't you eat lunch? You were off at 1 today..." You start piecing together the circumstances, realizing that if I had been off at 1, I would have come home and had dinner with you. My stomach breaks you from your mental calculations with an irate grumble, demanding food and begging for the feelings of your hands on my guts.

Hello! You haven't been in your robin rp account, so I'm sorry for writing it here, but... Have you read the Superman: Jon Kent adventures in injustice? Finally, Damian is treated in a good way and finally someone told Bruce he abandoned his child. It was heartbreaking! I know you are an injustice Damian wayne lover, so am I, so I just wanted to ask, what do you think about it? I hope DC's gonna prepare us for injustice 3 with this story!

Hi! Alas I don't have a lot of free time these days so I'm not sure I'll ever get back on there.

With that said, yes! I adored it! And I'm hoping it's laying the groundwork for Injustice 3 and Jon is going to play some kind of role.

There's a lot I could talk about in the book, but I think my biggest takeaway is - it's not actually changing the Injustice world like I first thought. It's... like a missing chapter. Slotting in right before Year 5, Issue 13.

Jon's presence doesn't really change anything. Though it was a good wakeup call for many, many members of the Regime - nobody leaves. He's just planting the seeds of doubt many of them need to take action. Clark just shows what a monster he's become to the public and so he becomes even more of a tyrant since he can no longer rely on their good will.

There's two ways to view this moment - this is the moment that Damian is going to change and he's going to go talk to Alfred about his doubts and get out of there. And maybe that's what would have happened.

But I think, tragically, this is actually the moment where Damian inadvertently signs Alfred's death warrant. Damian decides to go to Alfred and disclose the doubts he has (again, Year 5, Issue 13) and Alfred gives him honest advice. He asks Damian if "peace" is worth the deaths its cost, and if Damian is okay with this - and Damian isn't. Damian hates Bruce's methods and his brutality too! He doesn't want this, this is not the path he wants to walk.

And so Damian does what Damian does best - he throws himself face-first into danger. Grappling with his guilt in the part of everything getting to this point. It nearly gets him killed - would have gotten him killed if Dick hadn't intervened - and Dick provides him the Nightwing suit in the hopes that Damian will go back to Alfred.

But then Clark shows up. And Damian is nervous, because he has doubts. He is doubting the Regime, he's doubting the role he's playing. He doesn't want to be here doing this anymore, he wants to help people - not subjugate them.

But - elaborated on a way longer post about this I made years ago - Clark manipulates and intimidates Damian into telling him. He uses a mixture of that parental affection Damian is so starved for, and clear intimidation and Damian opens up to him about how he's feeling.

And Clark... well. We watched him beg Jon not to disappear.

Damian might disappear on him. Alfred might take away his substitute son, and his right hand man. Damian has a lot of keys to taking Clark down and dismantling the empire he's built, he can't really afford to lose him.

So Clark takes out the only other support Damian has. Alfred makes Damian doubt? Well, he's got to kill Alfred now. Making sure Damian won't leave. He uses Alfred's death as proof that Bruce's methods don't work, that the Regime is the correct way and if they dismantle it then more innocent people will die. He pushes Damian to tie up that loose end by having Damian strike the killing blow, and Damian's never the wiser to the fact that Clark was behind it all.

Doma Art Party 2023 Afterword

So, I think maybe it might be corny for me to do something like a thank you or an open letter or an afterword so to speak for an art party. And normally, I think I'd have not bothered. But considering this was my first ever attempt at hosting one, and that it was for a deeply important experience in my life...I believe it to be warranted here.

I am happy to say that the art party was to my eyes, a wonderful success. It was nice to experiment with the idea of having a more activity-oriented art party, and I have a good idea of what to do next time to improve on the formula without feeling overwhelming; after all, art parties are ultimately for vibing and hanging out; and boy were we.

And yes, many kisses were had, and the goodbyes were bittersweet; but not sad. And thus, I will give thanks. More below.

Thank you to everyone that helped me celebrate something very important to me. This last year has been a whirlwind for me, in mostly rather wonderful ways. I finally managed to finally let go of some of the things that were haunting me, I was more easily able to reconcile with, accept, and grow from my past. I picked up the pieces of a lot of parts of my life I didn't feel I had agency in, and it was all because of what I felt playing through Hien Rijin's story arc in FFXIV Stormblood. It was great fun to organize, and It was really nice to be able to celebrate that in some way with all of you-- some of which I'd never even met beforehand. I am just. So floored that people wanted to hang out and chat; thank you for handling my tech clumsiness and multi-tasking fails with such grace.

Thank you to everyone that WANTED to be there but couldn't for some reason or another. Thank you to my friend Bri (twt @tenchijins) who helped me craft prizes and coordinate during parts of the event (the shout chats were SO helpful)-- and for being a wonderful rp partner. You are so fucking smart and cool and you love birds so basically you're an angel. Thank you for everything the last couple months. You helped me better understand a part of my identity that I feared facing for so long, and because of it I am happier than I'd ever been about it all.

Thank you to @findenyan and @itsmeowlee for being so active in twitch chat and bein' cute an' funny catboys it was nice to see. Thank you also to @windup-dragoon for hanging out with us on day one (all the kisses to u my friend), Kiri is always a treasure to witness, and @dareva for being so insanely supportive of both my XIV works AND my original comic progress. I hope you are around for years to come.

Thank you to my roommate Cobalt who is the only reason I could even do this, because he was the one that helped me afford to renew my sub, which I didn't realize expired that day before the event. Oh, and also because he has literally been the sole reason i've been able to afford to survive the last couple of years. Hope to be free of it soon, brother! hahaha~

Thank you to @mythiclings for always showing me love, you were one of the biggest reasons I got the courage to start posting my Hien fanworks. And I am so glad that I did.

(Speaking of that, we did this cute little doodle together a little while back that I now have permission to post :'3 Look at these silly guys!!)

DS9 4x03 Hippocratic Oath thoughts (I'm re-watching, so beware spoilers for future episodes!)

So excited for this episode, love me some Miles&Julian

"I believe the Ferengi bartender is plotting something with him." Oh Worf, you are new here, aren't you?

"Odo keeps him in check." "Yes, but not in prison." Maybe - just maybe - there's a reason for that? Given Odo's been Chief of Security for three years, and Sisko's a very competent commander?

"We're on course back to the wormhole and should arrive at the station two days ahead of schedule." Hah, no you won't!

Julian just completely bullshitting "by spending your free time in the bedroom, a place you intimately associate with Keiko, you are actually expressing a desire to be closer to her during her absence." like he's a student with a word count to reach

"Why can't she be more like...[you]" "More like... [me?]" "Well, a man. More like a man." I cannot with this conversation, ever.

The two of them bouncing around in their seats is so ridiculous to watch XD

I was so confused about how Miles is a non-com until recently - in LARP it means non-combatant, and I kept thinking that no-one ever respected that Miles should not be fighting!

Miles' non-reaction to "We will kill you first."

"Human, rank of lieutenant with a specialty in the sciences." "Doctor, actually." If he's going to die, he's going to go down with the right title, thank you very much!

Loving this conflict between Odo and Worf. You go, Odo! (Is it bad I'm looking forward to Worf losing this battle?)

"They need a doctor. Someone's injured, or sick." "If that's true, Julian, don't help them." But he's gotta, it's what he dies, Miles!

" And you need to understand that I'm a Starfleet officer, and I won't do any work for you that might potentially be used against the Federation or any other race for that matter. Now, if that's what you want, you'll have to kill me." Julian you are incredible, you know that?

"Now give those men what they need, please." ohhhh, the tight desperation in his voice 💔

Odo is being much calmer about Starfleet poking their nose in his security matters than usual - maybe because Worf doesn't actually have any security jurisdiction, unlike Primmin and Eddington did?

Miles' "Sir" and "Lieutenant" playacting (foreshadowinggggg)

Julian's suddenly gone even posher??! Somehow stress brings out RP in extremis?

I love Miles and O'Brien both having perfectly valid different opinions. This argument is fantastic and I love Julian's impassioned "They're not animals. They're people being used as slaves. And this is their one chance at freedom."

"I am the senior officer here and I have decided what we're going to do. Now, I need the bio-spectral phase discriminator from the runabout's sensor array. I haven't got the technical skills to remove it, so I'm ordering you to do it. Is that clear?" Oof, I don;t think he likes taking this role, and having to give orders, but he's clearly very frustrated with Miles' opposite beliefs

Julian's demonstrating his determined belief in Goran'Agar's goodness by trusting him to find O'Brien for him <3

"You are a soldier?" "I have been." "Then you explain." Finally, something that might resonate with Miles. Just too late.

"Let's just say DS Nine has more shades of grey. And Quark definitely is a shade of grey." Yessss exposition the premise of DS9 to the newbie :P

"You had a choice and you chose to disobey orders, override my judgment, and condemn those men to death." Ohhh, this gave me some genetic engineering feels... (so many in fact, that there is more on that here!)

"Maybe in a few days." I don't know what that smile's doing, Julian, but I'm glad you're hopeful.

This is such a great episode, I really do like it - and Miles and Julian acting as foils to each other and both having incredibly convincing points of view is phenomenal, more please! :P

Did they believe in Santa?

Not really, no. She knew about Santa but didn't think he was a real person. And either way, Christmas wasn't a big thing in her family. Her father was usually absent but Yuriko remembers how her mother always bought fried chicken for them on Christmas.

When Yuriko grew up a little, she noticed that Christmas was a popular date day and it became her dream to go on a Christmas date at least once. This tiny dream came true last year when Ruki finally learned about this wish and made sure Yuriko got the date she wanted.

Were they a dinosaur or rock kid?

A book kid! Though Yuriko read books about dinosaurs too and she found them fascinating.

Bugs or slimy critters?

Bugs. Yuriko actually likes to look at them every now and then in the garden when she is supposed to help Yuma out. She simply enjoys staring at their movements and forgets everything around her.

Do they fidget? How?

Yes! Yuriko often tucks the hem of her hoodie or cardigan, sometimes shirt or her skirt too. And she shifts her weight from one hip to another while doing this. She also has a habit to brush her strands behind her ear and many times back again once she realizes it reveals too much of her marked neck.

What were they frequently in trouble for as a child?

Yuriko did her best not to get into trouble. She did all chores she could to make her parents happy, was quiet, and focused on reading when she had her free time. She avoid arguing and tried to please her parents in every possible way. Yet, the reason she got into trouble was that nothing was ever good enough for her father. Her mother didn't mind if things weren't in the right order or if Yuriko wasn't fast with her tasks but her father always found something Yuriko had done wrongly.

What underwear do they like?

Yuriko used to prefer cutesy prints on her underwear and comfortable cotton but lately, her taste has started to change and she has started to wear more and more lace underwear. She prefers white and pastel colors.

Designs on clothing or not?

Yuriko likes cute prints and such but at the end of the day designs on the clothes aren't very important to her.

Birthmarks?

No.

Do they have good self-control?

In some matters, yes. For example, Yuriko doesn't waste money. She has very good self-control when it comes to buying things. Except when it comes to books. She used to use the little money she had to buy second-hand books, and she often ended up hauling in the library too. These days, she shares Ruki's library, but since they both have a love for literature and Ruki is supportive of book purchases, Yuriko's self-control in this matter has probably worsened...

Favorite franchise?

Hmm... I really don't think she has one.

Do they re-enact scenarios in the shower?

Yuriko is more of a bath person. If she goes to the bath alone, she probably ends up either doing this or simply daydreaming. It's very easy for her to get lost in her thoughts and not realize that she has spent way too long in the tub. Ruki reminds her though.

Do they tell the waiter that their order is wrong?

Definitely not. Yuriko feels like it could hurt the waiter's or cook's feelings, so she doesn't say anything and eats the meal she got. But if Ruki is with her, he doesn't hesitate to tell the truth to the waiter and makes sure that Yuriko gets what she ordered.

Stairs or elevator?

In general, Yuriko doesn't have a preference. But she loves old libraries with spiral staircases.

Are they an exaggerator when telling stories?

Not really. Yuriko tells the matter as she sees it. Is that always the objective truth? Not necessarily, but she doesn't intend to exaggerate or lie.

NEW INTRO!

Hi, my name is Iris, and this is my mythology blog!

Important things about me:

-First. I am a minor. I am not disclosing my age here (and please don't ask me to), but I will say that I am a teenager (so let out your collective sighs of relief that I am not the 11 year olds you see on here now). I add this because this will contribute to several of my rules on this blog, but because I am also mutuals with 18+ people and I want to give them a choice if they want to follow me after learning I am under 18 or not. I'm sorry for not mentioning this before, mutuals who are reading, but I am in fact a minor.

-I am a demiromantic asexual, and supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community. DNI if homophobic or transphobic.

I do also do Greek mythology, JTTW, and a little bit of Norse and Egyptian!

My primary posting type is head canons or incorrect quotes.

ATTENTION MOON GUARD! The Alliance Militia For Low Level Immortals needs Twinks badly. Daddy Twinks (Level 29 xp/off) or Baby Twinks (Level 20 Free/Vet). We just need bodies to throw into the meat grinder.

But Pook, I hear you say. Role Playing and PvP don’t mix. Well let me answer this by telling you a little story about my relationship with World of Warcraft. I’ve played and loved this game since 2006. I’ve been gifted every expansion by my brother who loves the game too. I played on a PvE server, Silvermoon. I rarely raided. Did dungeons I liked. And would sometimes very meta RP with someone you met who gave off the vibe they’d be cool with it. Very meta.

Halfway through Shadowlands I unsubscribed. I didn’t unnsubscribe because the expansion was bad. I can usually find my own fun because WoW for me has always been a fun game to explore. I unsubscribed because I was doing some voice and music work on a friend’s claymation Virtual Fringe musical “Martians And Martinis” by the very talented Will Gillespie a composer and playwright. I knew I just wouldn’t be getting enough free time while the production of that virtual play was happening to justify paying for a subscription.

But I didn’t want to leave Azeroth.

It’s a world I loved since the minute I first stepped my gnomish foot into it. I played a gnome on Silvermoon named Chibisue. I picked the name because back in the early years of the internet I made a webcomic called Ghastly’s Ghastly Comic and one of the characters in that comic was named Chibi Sue and she looked very much like the way I drew this character (my comic predates WoW by a few years... ...yes I am very old). I fell in love with everything gnomish. I’ve rolled other races and classes as alts but nothing ever felt as comfy as a gnome rogue for me. I rarely made or played those poor forgotten alts.

So I thought to myself, well you’re an ancient theatre kid. Make a toon on Moon Guard and level it to the Vet account level cap of 20 and find something interesting to do on the biggest RP server, and hey why not see what a shit hole PvP is as the lowest level in the worst twink bracket.

Now Moon Guard. Let’s put a pin in that for a moment because boy oh boy do I have a lot to say about Moon Guard. I want to focus on the PvP right now. In those days, pre dragonflight the way a Trial/Vet account experienced PvP was like this. Trial/Vets (which we just call F2Ps for F.ree T.o P.lay but most of you probably know that) were in queues with Levelers and other F2Ps only. What this meant was as a F2P toon you could actually do significant damage in the BGs because few Levelers bothered to gear. Heirlooms when they’ve got them and whatever else the find along the way to endgame. There is absolutely no point to farm lower gear at this point. This meant a F2P with TBC gear could take down a mediocre geared level 29 if they played very smartly. This is what made being a F2P Baby Twink so appealing. You’re only level 20, and you’ve got a shot at taking down that level 29, but you gotta be smart.

Now Daddy Twinks, those are subscribed XPoff toons. They are the legendaries of the 20s bracket. Levelers hated them and complained and Blizzard listened to those complaints and moved XP off players into their own queues so it was nothing but Daddy Twinks pounding other Daddy Twinks. But there was an exploit and it was an exploit Blizzard created through their severe gimping of the Trial/Vet accounts. You see F2Ps cannot invite anyone to party. So when Baby Twinks want to make a premade they need a Daddy Twink to invite four Baby Twinks into the party. Now the Daddy Twink gets into the queues with the Baby Twinks and Levelers. A single Daddy Twink in that situation was like having a legendary hero show up if they were on your side, and it was like having a final boss villain come out of the fog if they were on the other side. One side was going to love it, one side was going to hate it. The levelers complained. Some Daddy Twinks played by a code of honour and took on leadership roles and would only seek out their opposite in the BG. The Daddy Twink would yell at the Baby Twinks, the Baby Twinks would either listen to or ridicule the Daddy Twink based on how much respect they had for that Daddy Twink. Some of the Daddy Twinks that fought with honour even tried to police it because they liked it it when the Baby Twinks knew they were bad ass even if the Levelers were pissing themselves when that Daddy Twink comes charging at them from across the field. Daddy Twinks wanted the Baby Twinks to swoon even if they were being tsundere.

But there was no way for the players to effectively self police to keep the Daddy Twinks in line. They’re practically gods in this bracket. So the Levelers were well in their rights to complain to Blizzard. Facing gods was not what they signed on for. Blizzard listened to the Levellers and did what the honourable Daddy Twinks feared most. They kicked the F2Ps out of the bracket with the Levelers and put them in the XPoff bracket. Daddy Twinks were now off the leash and pounded the Baby Twinks without mercy. It was all out war. It was hard to be useful in most classes as a Baby Twink, you really had to play by your wits and focus on the mission to feel like you were contributing when gods were pounding each other all around you.

Some Daddy Twinks loved this new dynamic. Some Daddy Twinks disliked it. There is a meme that Horde has Twinks and Alliance does not. It wasn’t really true. There was an Alliance Twinking guild called Golden Twinkies. It was a guild filled with some of the best Alliance Twinks, both during the days when they were playing Baby Twinks and even in the days when they switched to their Daddy Twinks. When the change came they did not enjoy this new Retail reality as much as they enjoyed WotLK Classic’s Twinking scene and the Pook respects that because they were an awesome guild to hang with as Baby Twink.

But their withdrawal from the field dealt a devastating blow to the Alliance. Now the Alliance truly did have fewer Twinks than the Horde, at least Fewer Daddy Twinks. The Horde’s Daddy Twinks pounded the remaining Ally Daddy and Baby Twinks relentlessly. And the Baby Twinks couldn’t take it anymore and most of them quit the game, and I don’t mean they switched to their Daddy Twinks I mean they quit WoW. You see, not everyone has the privileges I’ve had as I explored my way from Vanilla to Shadowlands. For some that $15 a month is not as easy as it was for me while i grew to love this world of Azeroth. For a lot being a lowly Baby Twink was the only way they could experience that same feeling I was able to pay for since Vanilla.

Where once the queues popped every 12 to 15 minutes and every half hour or so when it got really late at night now queues are popping every hour on a good night and every 5 hours on a bad night.. And it’s one side with 4 players and one side with 8 players.

So then why do I care? Why do I continue to play PvP in what is obviously the shittiest bracket? Why do I torture myself when for me I could sub and just play in the magical Leveler paradise called Endgame, where everything in every bracket below it sucks and can never be as good as? Because I’m not neuro-typical and I tend to find my own ways to entertain myself.

You see my education is in anthropology but I never became an anthropologist and instead chose the life of a starving artist. But the first thing I noticed when I played PvP in the 20s bracket was the culture. This was not at all the culture of the PvE server I experienced Azeroth on since Vanilla. I didn’t play PvP unless I was really bored. Dipped my toes in every now and then, but ugh the gear grind. Now I put myself into PvP and lived there and the cultural differences were amazing to behold. I became fascinated with studying this unique virtual culture. I loved studying it before Dragonflight queues and I still enjoy studying it even though it is a collapsing virtual culture. The “virtual” part goes a long way in taking the sting out of witnessing a culture collapse, just like the “virtual” part of PvP is a lot better than its IRL counterpart. I’m going to be there studying it until Blizzard makes it impossible for me to do so.

Now we get to Moon Guard. Oh! My! Gosh! You guys! YOU GUYS! Wow! WOW! As wonderful as it was to behold the cultural differences between PvE and PvP, the cultural differences between PvE and RP and absolutely mind blowing. I feel awed exploring Azeroth from this perspective on this server. I have been playing this game since Vanilla on PvE but I have never felt like I’m on Azeroth. As gimped as my F2P toon is in PvP it is also gimped for RP. The abilities of a F2P to engage socially with other players is severely limiting.

I am experiencing both these cultures from the experience of its lowest players and let me tell you some of the things I’ve learned studying the Twinks. The worse the bracket got, the fewer Sad Sacks there were, the ones who gripe and complain about their own team more than they play their class. The players who still show up even though it might be a 5 hour weight for Seething Shore to pop with 4v8 are probably some of the least toxic players I’ve seen. It is what it is and even in this shitty state of affairs it’s how they’re choosing to experience their love for the game World of Warcraft.

The bracket can be saved. The Horde does have more Twinks but they left when the Ally Twinks in Golden Twinkies left. If Alliance could only get more Twinks I’m sure the Horde Twinks would come back because they’d have a challenge.I can think of no better Server to recruit those Twinks from than Moon Guard and Moon Guard was the server the Golden Twinkies were on.

But why would RPers make good Daddy Twinks? Because this horrible, dysfunctional PvP bracket is one of the best grunt simulators ever. Let me present to you the Alliance Militia For Low Level Immortals.

One day you died. How, I don’t know. When you died there was a naked lady, told you you were special, can’t die until death is ready for you. Run back to your corpse come back to life. So you did. Next thing you know a recruiter for the Alliance Militia For Low Level Immortals approaches you. Says you show potential could be a real big shot with a little hard work and training. See the Horde has an army of immortals. So we need an army of immortals. What’s your mission? Sometimes it’s stealing flags, sometimes it’s stealing war candy, sometimes it’s stealing orbs. What do the Horde and Alliance need with that stuff? Sorry that’s above your pay grade. Best of all, you can keep whatever civilian job you got, we work around your schedule. Just sign up and fight for the Alliance.

Why does the Pook fight? Because sometimes it’s been Seething Shore, and it’s 5v8. The Horde have five, the Alliance lucked out for once and has eight. But then the Pook looks at the roster. Sees the names of the Horde. It’s a Daddy Twink, a Baby Twink and three noobs using the Trial account for what it was intended, to try out WoW and see if it’s a game they’d want to buy. I know that Horde Daddy Twink. I know that Horde Baby Twink. Then I look at our side. The Pook, three Baby Twinks and four green noobs wanting to see what World of Warcraft is all about. I look at the names of our Baby Twinks. I know none of these people are going to rage quit. They’re going to do their best to show those noobs a game. We got 8 and they’ve got five and I know this is going to be a close game but the Pook is going to steal as much war candy as she can get her little gnomish hands on.

Why do you fight? That’s your back story to write but if life has gotten you to a place where you’re considering joining up to hurry up and wait for the crappiest grunt work ever then the Pook will be honoured to fight with you.

Sometimes you’re between campaigns. Sometimes you’re just a little bored grinding dailies. Sometimes you want to change things up. You don’t have to join a guild, you don’t have to make it a regular thing. This bracket needs Twinks, Daddy Twinks and Baby Twinks because the noobs, the ones who are using the trial account to see if WoW is a game worth falling in love with, they’re not going to stick around if the queue times are 5 hours and the BG is 5v8. We need numbers because we need to get the queues popping quickly so WoW doesn’t look like a dead game. Noobs are going to understand they’re going to get pasted in PvP. It’s to be expected but the quality of the Daddy Twinks and the Baby Twinks pounding those Noobs will determine whether they think WoW is a game they’ll want to fall in love with.The few that are sticking around in this bracket are doing their best to keep the bracket going.

If my time on Moon Guard experiencing it as the lowest of the lows has taught me anything it’s that the players on Moon Guard certainly have the passion for World of Warcraft we need in this bracket to show those Noobs that WoW is a game worth falling in love with. Plus, you know, it will tackle the meme that Moon Guard can’t PvP.

Anyway, that gummy the night elf druid gave me has kicked in so I’ll have a baconator, large chocolate frostie, and large fries and the Pook has a few packets of hot sauce from Popeyes in the glove box so we gonna get festive tonight!
