The story Brave isn't just about a young Scottish princess standing up to fate, turning her mum into a bear and fighting a demon bear.  Its about how a mother and daughter come together, while forming a much stranger bound.  So if you are having troubles with your mum, just remember Merida's story and you'll be together again.

Things that have happened in my Sims 4 save so far

-Hiccup almost died because one of Merida's brothers set him on fire with a grill. He spent the rest of the night in the Dunbroch house by himself, as the family were all outside all night to get away from the fire. None of them knew he was there

-Dagur and Heather were in the save for not 10 minutes before having a combined total of 7 people disliking them. The only one to not already dislike Dagur (besides H) is Jaqueline (Jack's mom) because she's the one person he was nice to

-Jack and Rapunzel had their first kiss+flirting session in the former's bedroom, right in front of his little sister who had been hiding under her covers

-Elinor had a Happy moodlet, and I sent her to visit the Overland residence (I'm trying to get all the parents to be friends). Upon arrival her 4 happy traits immediately disappeared because she was Bored from the lack of decorations in their house. After her tea time with Jaqueline, she offered to take the trash outside. She took it out... and dumped it on the porch nowhere close to the trash can. Then she left

-Hiccup was sleeping in his bedroom at 3am... while Valka was (badly) playing the guitar and Stoick was playing games on Hiccup's computer not even 3 feet away

-Dagur made Frederic cry after being mean to him

-The Corona household started off with Arianna being good friends with Rapunzel and Varian (her children), while Frederic was pretty indifferent towards them. This has turned into Frederic being the good parent and bonding with both teens, despite often being busy with his writing job. Arianna has spent almost the entire game dancing in the kitchen or wandering the streets near the Overland residence, and has since interacted with both of her children a combined total of three times

Headcanon: Disciplined, responsible, serious Astrid Hofferson could not help but become Elinor's favorite. Naturally, Merida is madly annoyed by this.

When the call for help cleaning up what was left of the Prom had been put out, Hatter had shown up. He usually did for that sort of thing because while he didn’t really like to go to the big events this town threw, he figured no one liked clean up duty. And in Swynlake most of the time picking up the pieces of an event was a lot more painstaking than sweeping the floor and taking out the garbage. 

The outside had been...well it had been pretty awful. The storm had thrown what had been a very beautifully decorated scene into disarry, things strung all around the grounds and into the forest. Inside was better but after having housed a good portion of the town for a few hours a mess had inevitably accumulated there, too. 

Hatter had gone in, only looking for water, and had found himself in the kitchen. It looked in a dissary, having been raided. Probably a few times throughout the night. He got distracted in there, wanting to put everything back together as the room deserved. So focused on this task, he did not notice anyone enter as he organized one of the cabinets.

Finished Bravely, and I just have to say: I LOVED IT! From the characters to the character dynamics to the overall message and themes to the bittersweet romance between Merida and her nonbinary lover. I’m going to be making in-depth reviews for all the characters, the writing, and the queerness of it all because boy, do I have a lot to say. I won’t give too much away yet, but all I will say is this: If you’re a fan of Merida, you’ll love Bravely. Her characterization is still very much spot on except for she’s matured from her teenage years, so that adds a more adult-like alteration to her previous traits. If you’re a fan of Brave, you’ll love Bravely. The magic, the beauty of medieval Scotland, and the importance of family is the primary focus of the book. If you’re a lesbian Merida truther, you’ll love Bravely. She shows absolutely no romantic nor sexual attraction towards any man whatsoever, only showing love for the genderless entity whom only wears the face of a man but is not one, and she doesn’t care about the male body he is in neither romantically nor sexually. She is canonically nblw with absolutely no attraction towards men whatsoever, which is by definition, a canon lesbian. Also, her gay undertones towards her sister-zoned best friend Leezie are so soft. If you love the Dunbroch family, you’ll love Bravely. Bravely basically offers everything you loved about Brave and adds a more mature and adult feeling to it whilst still feeling like your favorite Pixar characters.

CURIOSIDADES.

Contanto que não vá atrapalhar a sua história, não é da conta dela. Essa é a mentalidade que Merida tem em relação aos perdidos. Claro, ela está sempre pronta para dar uma lacrada no próximo que arriscar chamá-la de personagem, mas se você não for o noivo literalmente indesejado e nem a desconhecida maluca, ela não tem porquê apontar o arco na sua cara! Mas, por favor, tente não desafiá-la... Merida realmente está tentando não atirar uma flecha na bunda de ninguém depois da última vez, no casamento de Merlin e do Feiticeiro... Foi muito ruim ser barrada de eventos por quase um ano consecutivo pelo próprio Merlin!

Apesar de ser da realeza, Merida é iletrada. Ela nunca precisou aprender a ler e nem a escrever para ser a princesa de Dunbroch e, por mais que Elinor tenha feito os seus esforços, nós sabemos como Merida é... Ela fugia das aulas para pegar o seu cavalo e correr por aí. Muito mais divertido! Enfim, nem tente enviar mensagens para ela em seu Scroll. Ela não usa. Só o iMirror.

Como todo dunbrochiano, e talvez mais do que os outros, Merida não gosta de seres mágicos. Isso não se aplica a Merlin ou às fadas, pessoas com uma magia inerente boa, mas ela quer qualquer magia perversa longe dela ou de seu reino. Dunbroch nunca precisou de magia para prosperar, pelo contrário, a magia só estragou as coisas por lá! E não será em seu futuro reinado que eles usarão magia. Longe disso.

É campeã olímpica de arco-e-flecha... empatada com Robin Hood. Então você deve imaginar como está sendo terrível para ela saber que existe uma versão de sua história onde ela perde um duelo para uma qualquer. E pior, não consegue matá-la em uma flechada só! O que é isso?

Tinha começado a aceitar seguir as suas obrigações reais como princesa de Dunbroch quando tudo virou de cabeça para baixo. Ela estava até usando os vestidos que Elinor escolhia para ela e tinha aprendido a arrumar o seu cabelo com flores e pérolas... Bom.

Durante a estadia de Merida e a família de Dunbroch no Reino dos Perdidos, eles decidiram trazer um pouco da essência dunbrochiana para o lugar. Sendo assim, fundaram o BRAVE BEARS SCHOOL FOR HUNTERS que, como o próprio nome diz, é um lugar para quem quiser aprender a ser um caçador de verdade com base nas técnicas medievais e agressivas de Dunbroch. Merida ensina arquearia, é claro, e dizem que ela é uma professora muito... espirituosa. Pelo menos ninguém morreu por lá ainda, mas só fazem alguns dias, né?

Merida é bissexual e a sua forma de demonstrar interesse por alguém pode ser um pouco... diferente às vezes... Veja bem, na cabeça dela, chamar uma pessoa de frangote é flertar também! Pelo menos ela não tem medo de admitir nada, nem de shoot her shots.

Entry 15 in my historical Disney Princess series: Merida of the clan Dunbroch!

So Brave is another Disney (well technically Pixar) movie that has a concrete time period; it’s supposedly set in the 10th century and in Scotland (duh). This makes sense, as I heard somewhere that the 10th century saw the last recorded sightings of bears before they were hunted to extinction in that area, and the whole movie has an early medieval Gaelic feel. Queen Elinor is not too far off, as she’s wearing a bliaut and has her hair in long plaits interwoven with ribbons, both of which were popular among noblewomen during the later Anglo Saxon era (not exactly Gaelic but it may be possible that some of those Anglo Saxon trends found their way over there). Merida, however, needed a bit of a makeover, as her dresses feel more pseudo-medieval than anything. Her main dress especially looks like something out of the Italian Renaissance.

Merida was one of the harder ones to research for, on the same level as Eilonwy, since there are very few authentic resources that show what early Gaelic noblewomen dressed like. I was thrilled to find out about the Book of Kells, as well as an awesome PDF document titled “Early Gaelic Dress” (I’m sure you can Google it), and I relied heavily on both sources. I tried to make my designs as accurate as possible for both dresses, based on what I knew existed fashion-wise at the time (counting Anglo-Saxon clothing)
