Quotes for the diary/memories Using mums words among the facts
Using the interviews with my mum and asking more questions to gage what was happening in the 9 months before my birth. I noted down some of her memories and decide to use her own words in the diary.
Her quotes mainly were about key pregnancy milestones and then other vivid memories she had. Using the photo’s help jog her memory on certain things such as the 2 week holiday in Dorset with the Jeffs- August 1997.
I also added in events which happened regularly or every so often- antenatal classes, taking Georgie to the park, taking Georgie to disney store, going to Nanny and Grandad’s house.
“If I worked it out roughly, this was probably the day you were conceived.”
“Me and your dad decide to take Georgie to Nanny Chris’ house to see all the cousins”
“Sometimes your dad would take a late shift meaning he could take Georgie to the park early in the day.”
“It’s your sister’s birthday. Nanny Chris comes over for cake in the dat and cousin Gary pops in to give Georgie her presents later.”
“Vanessa came over with Baby Sophie to have a coffee and catch up.”
“It was a Saturday and we decided to take Georgie to the local swings to play.”
“Nanny Joyce came round to babysit George as it was valentines.”
“I took Georgie to the Disney shop in Watford shopping centre, her favourite place to go.”
“Id been feeling a bit sick in the mornings and so took a pregnancy test. It was positive and I was 7 weeks along.”
“I was called into work at the Lehman Bothers to do some temping. Your sister went to Auntie Marys for the day.”
“I organised Georgie to try horse riding for the first time with the neighbours.”
“I had some girlfriends over for dinner and suddenly felt really unwell. They left earlier than expected as I had a pregnancy scare.”
“I took Georgie to a birthday party in Bushey.”
“It's your Dad's 32nd Birthday!”
“Dad takes me for my 12 week scan in Watford General. We're told you are healthy and very active.”
“We went to Sunday Lunch with Nanny Joyce and Grandad and told them we were expecting another baby.”
“I took Georgie to see Karen- my oldest friend and her godmother.”
“I was called in to do a shift again. The train into London becomes harder as the heat rises and my bump grows.”
“Georgie, your dad and I go over to my parent’s house as we celebrate both their birthdays.”
“I went to my first antenatal class in Bushey after a friend recommended it. It was a great way to meet mums-to-be..”
“I have my weekly Antenatal class.”
“I have another shift at the bank. On the way to work, I have to stand on the train as no-one lets me sit even though its clear im expecting.”
“Vanessa hosts a dinner party with all the girls-Your dad stays at home with George watching Teletubbies and puts her to bed.”
“I have my 20 week scan. We're told it's a boy!”
“I watched the news in bed and thought how strange it was he had the same rare last name as us and similar features to the McVeigh side.”
“Your dad takes the day off work and we go to Cambridge for the day with Georgie.”
“Vanessa came round in the afternoon.”
“We took Georgie to the Disney store again.”
“Our summer holiday started. We drove down to my mum's caravan in Freshwater Beach, Bridport with Georgie and the dog, Buddy to stay for a few weeks.”
“We decided to drive down to Looe, Cornwall for a few days.”
“We drove back up to Freshwater Beach,   Bridport. The Jeff’s drove down to stay in another caravan for a few days with their 3 kids; Scott,Ryan & Megan.”
“We travel back home after our holiday.”
“We watched the BBC updates for most of the day.”
“I sat in the sitting room all day watching the service still in complete shock Princess Diana was dead.”
“Your nan came over a lot as I started to become heavily pregnant and was very tired constantly.”
“It's a quiet day at home for me and Georgie.”
“I spent a lot of time  at home with  Georgie, painting the new baby room.”
“As soon as I woke up, I started going into Labour. Your dad had to wash and dress me as I was so faint and by the time we arrived at hospital...I was fully dilated. You arrived at 16.10pm, weighing 7lb 8ozs with symptoms of jaundice. Our midwife was incredible  so we named you after her.”
