sages one through five
so, like, what is eitri’s whole deal? a meta / headcanon post on seiðjarn & eitri.
Tumblr media
To start to understand what I think is going on with Eitri physically, we have to understand the origins of seiðjarn and what it is. Heroes never credits one person as being the inventor seiðjarn, all things point to it (probably) being Eitri.
All of Eitri’s incarnations are primarily remembered and credited as being an inventor. Seiðjarn is a combination of magic and machinery, and Eitri is both a mage and an engineer. Though never explicitly said to be a mage of any pedigree, it is easy to discern that Eitri has a strong mastery over magic with her weapon type being a tome and the fact that seiðjarn research and engineering necessitates magical ability to understand and utilize. Her first incarnation was also one of the two founders of Niðavellir, where it was said that the First King used his craft (most likely some sort of rudimentary iteration of seiðjarn as we know it) to free the dvergar from Jötun rule. Her playing such a large part in the kingdom’s history point to her making some sort of contribution to its liberation, and with her background, it makes sense to credit the invention of seiðjarn to Eitri.
Knowing this, we can now move on to the next question: what is seiðjarn? Anna in Chapter 1-1 of Book V defines it as “a systematic study and application of magic” and states that “only Niðavellir has had any success with its use.” What can be assumed to be the first seiðjárn inventions are weapons the First King used to liberate Niðavellir, and they are referenced as “his craft.” In Chapter 4-1 of Book V, the Order of Heroes comes to Eitri forest workshop for aid against Fáfnir. Sharena comments on the “contraptions” laid about the space, and deduces that what she sees before her must be the makings of seiðjárn. This evidence, along with what we know of Niðavellirian culture and history, allows us to define seiðjarn as machinery created in tandem with and/or powered by some hidden magical art that Eitri unlocked.
Now, on Eitri herself: what is she? Her first incarnation, Alfrik, is obviously a dvergar — but what about the bodies that came after? I think she always chooses to reincarnate as a dvergar because of her undying loyalty to her country. She cannot see herself as anything else, and probably thinks other races of mortals are inferior to the genius and ambition of the dvergar.
In Book V, Chapter 13-5 Eitri reveals the truth of her identity to the Order of Heroes:
ALFONSE: The legends and myths across all the many worlds make mention of beings blessed with extremely long lives... Eitri, are you a dragon? EITRI: Ahahaha! No, no... Alas, I am still a mere mortal. More or less. I did manage to borrow some talents from a dragon, however... When my body ceases to live, I can transfer my essence to a new vessel, a new body. By doing so countless times, I have shaped Niðavellir and safeguarded it for many long years. In the castle... You know the murals and statues of all the great figures from the history of Niðavellir? Alfrik, Dvalinn, Billingr, Grer... All of them were me.
Eitri says she is “more or less” mortal and that she “borrowed” talents from a dragon in order to gain the power of living indefinitely by transferring her essence (her soul) into new vessels. Knowing Eitri’s true nature, I do not believe that whatever conspired between her and this dragon was some free exchange of ideas. I do not believe that divine, draconic secrets like immortality is haphazardly given to mortals — especially not obviously suspicious lunatics like Eitri. Given the shady way in which she says she learned this talent, I believe that Eitri tricked or manipulated the answer out of this dragon. I also believe that she killed said dragon afterwards to ensure that she would be the sole inheritor of said power, and that the dragon could never take revenge on her for her actions. This would be in line with behavior we see from her in Book V, where is readily prepared to dispose of things or people that inconvenience her in the slightest.
In addition to believing that Eitri killed the dragon that taught her the secrets of reincarnation, I also believe she took the parts of this dragon to build new bodies for herself. My personal theory on how her reincarnation works is she, somehow, absorbed the essence of the dragon and mixed it with her own, so therefore the bodies she built using its parts are more receptive to accepting her vaguely draconic essence. Using the dragon’s body parts to build new bodies for herself also allowed her to make an enhanced organic form.
Speaking of Eitri’s personal enhancements, it isn’t implausible to assume that Eitri is some part machine: a bionic.
The strongest evidence for this idea is Eitri’s new skill learned quote which implies she is no stranger to experimenting on herself:
“A new power... Nothing could make me happier. Conducting tests on my own body is very convenient.”
Almost all examples of seiðjárn we have seen thus far have been militaristic technology, like the gullinbursti and the steam soldiers. Anna also states in Book V, Chapter 1-5 that the Niðavellirian mastery over seiðjárn is what allowed their conquest of surrounding lands to happen so quickly and to be so successful. This makes sense, as the invention of seiðjárn was in response to Jötun oppression and was used to give the dvergar a fighting chance against the giants. Additionally, since the development of seiðjárn evidently had to be kept secret in its infancy in order to not alert the Jötun to the planned dvergar uprising, I believe Eitri (then Alfrik) tested the first seiðjárn weapons on herself or willing volunteers involved with the liberation effort. Once the kingdom of Niðavellir was established, Eitri most likely saw the appeal of enhancing her mortal body with seiðjárn technology and continued to test new ideas and enhancements on herself. Eitri would like the idea as well, of being part machine, seeing it as a way to quell some of her organic shortcomings.
As of right now, in he current TOA incarnation, Eitri has lost most of the bionic upgrades with the death of her previous body and currently works on developing even stronger enhancements to restore her bionics. Though it is a small setback, Eitri sees it as a way to use the knowledge she gains at Garreg Mach to advance her study of bionics even further. The abundance of different species residing at the monastery will advance her research quite nicely…

Blitzen and Hearthstone Headcanons: Backstory Version
Blitz loved learning sign language because he knew that you had the other person's full, unwarranted attention. If they did not want to speak with you, there was an incredibly easy out, and he never felt as though he was forcing them to pay attention to him or being pitied.
At some point along the lines, Hearth will stand up for (or has already stood up for) Blitzen against Eitri Junior, as a parallel to when Blitz stood up to Alderman for Hearth. They protect one another against their bullies.
Blitzen has anxiety that mirrors that of Hearthstone's.
Blitz has a lot of insecurity when it comes to his body. He has always felt bigger, taller, enormous and clumsy, like he was a giant from Jotunheim in the tiny realm of Nidavellir- literally and metaphorically worlds apart.
Blitz's insecurity about his build also plays into his inability to craft under pressure. Pressure is known to trigger self criticism, which in turn, tricks him into telling himself that he's big, he's an oaf, his stupid, thick fingers will mess up the tiny, intricate parts anyway, so why even make much of an effort?
Hearth used to make him more insecure because, by comparison, Blitz was stout and clumsy with his hands, whereas Hearth was willowy and graceful in his motions.
Though he was bullied for hanging out with his dad so much as a child, Bíli was the one part of him that he was not ashamed of.
Hearth needed a lot of reassurance from Blitzen after learning about his mother's death.
Blitz took Hearth out to try everything under the sun when he realized that Hearth never had the freedom (or money) to try them for himself.
Hearth can read Blitz like a book, despite Blitzen's attempts to hide his pain, and makes sure to compliment and fawn a little over all of Blitzen's creations, even though he has no clue what he's doing.
Living on the streets brought them both back to a bad place where they were almost never safe- Hearth in his own home, and Blitzen in his own world.
Hearth could not sleep unless he was with Blitzen, and Blitzen could not sleep unless he was under a roof. This proved to be very complicated.
For a long time, Hearthstone had a difficult time sleeping in his pure white tanning bed of light. When Blitz figured out why, he decorated the inside with lots of colors for Hearth.
Hearth used to get overwhelmed when there was too much in his vision; too many people, too many images, too many colors.
He was also made uncomfortable by any rug in Blitzen's Nidavellir apartment. Carpets were okay, but rugs- especially colored rugs- were not.

Niðavellir headcanons I came up with at 2 in the morning
There's a lot and this is specifically for the ten remaining people who still care about Book V
Niðavellir values intelligence more than anything. While Fáfnir's general kindness helped him gain favor among the people, it was his knowledge of ruling and government operations that earned him his place as king.
Though objectively nicer before he had the crown, Fáfnir was always fairly cynical and had a dark sense of humor. He just did a better job at filtering himself before he was crowned.
Ótr has the same obsession with food that Reginn has, but he hides it in order to make himself seem more "royal". Because they were used to starving on the streets, they both eat as much food as possible even after moving into the palace.
Niðavellir's battalions each have a mechanic in charge of helping with Gullinbursti maintenance. However, most high ranking soldiers maintain their own Gullinbursti for efficiency's sake. As such, most dvergar soldiers know a fair bit about machinery.
While the war was still going, Fáfnir would cut Ótr and Reginn's hair pretty short to "keep them from being decapitated". After Reginn cried about that fact, he started to let her grow her hair out. He still made sure Ótr kept his hair relatively short, however.
After several all-nighters over the years, Eitri was constantly being confused for a ghost that would haunt Niðavellir's capital. They eventually came to embrace that fact and began dressing in all white to further mess with people.
The siblings can sleep anywhere at any time; for Ótr and Reginn this is because of their time on the streets, and for Fáfnir this is from him being a soldier. Reginn sleeps like rock. Fáfnir is a pretty light sleeper but if he's tired enough he's impossible to wake up. Ótr wakes at any change in his surroundings. He often wakes up in the middle of the night from the slightest sound or change in the light.
Fáfnir drinks coffee and tea throughout the day and takes both black. He'll let Reginn have sips of what he's drinking, but she's not a huge fan. Ótr drinks coffee and says he likes it black. He's lying. When he thinks people aren't looking he'll add tons of milk and sugar. Eitri is a "inject the caffeine directly into my veins" person, but since that's not exactly practical they make tea from the flowers around their sanctuary.
Ótr was sick the day Fáfnir and Reginn went to the New Year's festival, so Reginn tried to bring him back some mochi. She ate half the box on the way back, so Fáfnir had to hold it the rest of the way before she ate it all.
Fáfnir got the summoner a pocket watch for New Year's, both as a subtle threat and an act of genuine endearment.
Eitri takes very good care of the plants in their sanctuary to make sure they're as uninviting as possible. They will get upset if you step on their flowers, however.
After the events of Book V, the summoner makes Reginn plushies that look like her brothers and Nótt. If you listen closely, you can hear the princess talking to them when she's particularly lonely.

Send me a "!!" and I'll talk about an OC | @oxygenforthewicked
I don't have art of most of my OCs b/c I can't draw so I hope my little explanations suffice!
Brokkr is one of my ancient dwarven ocs. He's of House Cad'Halash and lives in the thaig as a warrior and a smith.
He's a big crowd pleaser in Provings and presents ostentatiously. He wears gold-plated armour and wears crown-shaped rings in his dreads. Off the Proving grounds he's more down-to-earth to the point that he's often not recognised outside his own Thaig.
Outside of his warrior lifestyle he likes to pursue creative endeavours. I headcanon that poetry is tradition in dwarven warrior culture, but he prefers to do stuff with his hands, so he sculpts and draws. Mostly stone, as it's in high supply underground. Although in Orzammar he is known as something of an eligible bachelor, his family know him too well to embellish those rumours.
He is an ancestor of my main Inquisitor, Thora Cadash, albeit not directly (he'd be her great-great-great-etc uncle). Brokkr never has any children and dies in the assault of Cad'Halash by Kal-Sharok for harbouring Elvhenan refugees. He and his brother Eitri got their names from the dwarves in Norse mythology who forged mjölnir. Together they drafted the schematic that becomes Thora's endgame warhammer of the same name (get it?! b/c... she's named after Thor), with a few tweaks from Dagna.
I'm planning a fic set in the period of Cad'Halash featuring him and his Elvhen lover, a former rebel named Syrillon, but he'll eventually factor into Thora's Deep Roads fieldtrip fic, The Ascent.

The Dwarves in the comic-book The Avengers: The Avengers Initiative (a prequel to The Avengers film) are depicted as shorter in height of the Asgardians while in Avengers: Infinity War, Eitri is depicted as extremely taller than Thor. But In the Infinity War concept art Eitri is effectively depicted as far taller than the rest of its race.

What do you guys think? That Eitri's the only one who's giant (like it only happens if you're of royal blood or it's the dwarves version of Gigantism) or do you prefer that the Dwarves are a race of Giants?

in infinity war when eitri says ‘it’ll kill you’ and thor responds with ‘ only if i die.’ everyone thinks he’s just being dumb . EVEN EITRI . but honestly this is just his logic behind the fact that he’s actually died more than once? for him, death isn’t exactly final.  so its just ‘only if i die’ and it actually sticks this time .
he is being dumb when he takes on the full force of a  star because he doesn’t actually know whether it will kill him or not. that’s another headcanon about selflessness right there. just because this is a weapon that only someone with enough strength can wield and he’s willing to sacrifice himself just to forge it.  so will it kill him ??  he doesn’t know but he’s defied death before and he’s willing to risk it all to do it again.

Anonymous Asked:  Tell us 5 headcanons about your au for princess peach
1. Peach is the adopted daughter of Eitri, the king of Nidavellir.
He adopted her after spending some time on Asgard. Doing some work for Odin, Peach’s mother was a servant whom had been assigned to assist Eitri in any way that he needed assisting.
They grew to be close friends over their time in close proximity and when the young woman died giving birth to a daughter, the dwarf king besought Odin to let him have the babe, knowing that there was no one else to take her in.
Odin obliged him and Eitri became a father; she is the light of his life.
2. Peach is knowledgable in multiple types of magic and combat.
Peach went on many political visits as a child when her father was trying to foster friendly alliances between Nidavellir and the other realms. In every land she visited, the dwarven princess sought out teachers of all kinds, including topics such as self defense and magic.
Her most notable teacher was Frigga, Queen of Asgard. She taught Peach much over the course of her life, including the basics of Asgardian magic. The two often exchanged letters and gifts and had a very amenable relationship. It is rumored that Frigga was the one to originally suggest the possibility of an arranged marriage between Peach and Loki though this has never been confirmed.
3. A voracious learner, Peach LOVES to read
Often found in the library at any time of the day when visiting Asgard, this quality of the princess’ is one of the things that made Loki’s task as prince regent--and as her escort--less of a chore.
4. Peach escaped Nidavellir through a gateway between realms.
Escaping through a gateway that she and Loki stumbled upon as children, Peach found herself trapped in the caverns beneath Asgard. In an act of desperation, she closed the gateway permanently, the guards and the King of an intruder which set them on a mad dash to find whoever it was.
Not long after, Loki--disguised as Odin--found the terrified princess and she begged him for clemency for her intrusion as well as asylum.
5. Asgard failing to come to the aid of Nidavellir is TECHNICALLY Loki’s fault.
Though in A:IW Thor gives the reason of Asgard being destroyed as the reason for not coming to Eitri’s aid when Nidavellir was attacked by Thanos, the attack on Nidavellir is not as recent as Thor believes.
While it did occur fairly recently, it was during the time when Loki had closed Asgard’s borders while impersonating Odin as opposed to after Surtur destroyed Asgard.

@animaseason sent... Also fully self-indulgent Karin and Hrid for the fankid meme ( prompt. )
name: crown prince eitri of nifl
gender: male!
general appearance: see below the cut!
personality: calm and collected, usually with a smile on his face. he’s more of a listener than a talker, but was actually a bit of a troublemaker in his youth and played harmless little pranks on his parents and the castle servants. adolescence really mellowed him out.
special talents: as the firstborn of the nifl royal family, eitri has inherited the full power over dreams his aunt gunnthra once held. in addition, he is also a mage and wields the blizzard tome much like she did.
who they like better: he loves his parents equally!
who they take after more: it’s hard to say, but probably hrid.
personal headcanon: he’s a tinkerer at heart, and is usually found experimenting with magic or trying to replicate technology his mother has mentioned existing back in her homeworld in his free time.

#grimkkr: unaffiliated EITRI. closed & affiliated with THE OFFICERS ACADEMY. championed by byun.
Tumblr media
PORTRAYAL NOTES & HEADCANONS.
as Alfrik (Eitri's first incarnation), they forged a pact with a dragon to escape death. this results in them reincarnating and growing older with every rebirth. because Eitri was a young girl in their fifth incarnation, they enter the next phase of the cycle and are reborn as a young adult (in this case, a young woman), appearing physically as someone between the ages of 19 and 24. if they were to die again, they would be reborn as someone appearing between the ages of 30 and 50, so on and so forth.
though they'd usually choose a new name upon reincarnating, for the sake of not being confusing & keeping in line with their canonical iteration, they're reusing the name Eitri.
Eitri teaches Magic, Mechanics, & Engineering at The Officers Academy — specifically the theoretical realm of combining magic & engineering. (seiðjárn. they are teaching seiðjárn.)
Grim Brokkr is as tall as them, even in this iteration. no, do not mention it unless you want your head blown off.
having researched such things extensively, Eitri is highly interested in muses of unusal prowess and otherworldly origin. non-human muses, muses with strong magical affinity, and muses with high physical strength & tolerance might want to be wary of them...
read their interview linked here!

INFINITY WAR HEADCANON:  Loki was trying to tell Thor to go to Nidavellir and forge a new weapon because it was the only chance they had against Thanos. “The sun will shine on us again.” may have been hope on Loki’s part, it may be that he thought he could kill Thanos with that sneak dagger attack, it may be that time travel shenanigans are afoot with someone having traveled back to warn him about Strange’s endgame plan whatever it is, it may be something else. But, given that Loki knows how dangerous Thanos is, given that he looks VERY INTENTLY at Thor as he says it, like HEAR WHAT I’M SAYING AND READ BETWEEN THE LINES, given that it’s such an odd thing to say while Thanos is standing right there, it makes me think Loki was trying to say something else, something he couldn’t say directly with Thanos in the room. Nidavellir’s forge is powered by the heart of a dying star.  A sun.  One that heat the metal when the Dwarves craft a new weapon, one that Eitri had planned for awhile, to be the weapon of a king, the strongest on Asgard, he says.  It was likely always meant to be Thor’s and it’s entirely possible that Loki would have known about it or even just known that Thor would need some kind of weapon, one stronger than Mjlonir (also forged in the heart of a dying sun), one stronger than Gungnir. The sun shines on Thor again--and he gains the only weapon that can actual do real damage to Thanos.  Just not the way we originally thought he meant it, because Loki is rarely straightforward about anything and certainly not with Thanos right there to hear him.

Don’t read if you don’t want spoilers!
No seriously, I hate spoilers and I don’t want to ruin the movie for anyone.
Don’t click to read more unless you’ve seen it or you absolutely don’t care, because I’m here to talk plot implications.
Okay. I want to talk about the timelines Endgame introduced, because if you think all the times they visited are going to continue on the same way as otherwise, you are wrong. The Ancient One explained how it works. There will be new branches kicked off by what they do in their quantum time traveling, which is fine as long as the Infinity Stones go back to where they were so that nothing worse happens.
1970 Branch: I don’t think much would’ve changed in this, but Hank Pym is probably even more paranoid about protecting his technology, and maaaaybe Howard goes on to be ever so slightly a better dad because of that nice chat he had with Howard Potts.
2012 Branch: Holy crap this one is a mess. I seriously doubt that Main Timeline Steve would ever be able to track down Loki, and who knows where he went with the Tesseract. I headcanon hard that getting slammed repeatedly into the floor by the Hulk snapped him out of some or all of the brainwashing/Mind Stone reprogramming/whatever that he had, so I don’t think he’d have poofed directly to Thanos to hand it over, but now he has a chance to escape punishment on Asgard. Good luck finding him, I guess. Maybe the Ancient One will help. Meanwhile, on Earth, Steve now knows that Bucky is alive, while several major Hydra operatives think Steve is on their side. There is so much potential for things to go wrong.
2013 Branch: Unless Loki saw Main Timeline Thor and Rocket running past his cell or Frigga’s actions were impacted by interacting with Thor, I doubt this one would change. Although there’s also Jane. Unless she lost consciousness when Rocket took the Aether from her and didn’t get a clear look at him, and then Main Timeline Steve (presumably with Heimdall’s help or something?) put the Aether back in place before she woke up, she’s gonna have some major questions, and she is not the type to leave those unanswered. (Also, did they decide not to try getting the Tesseract from this point because it’d be too hard to slip it past Odin, or what? Because if not, that’s a pretty big oversight, and I don’t enjoy using Thor’s drunken depression as a means of handwaving it.)
2014 Branch: This one is pretty nice, because Thanos, all his lieutenants, and both his Outrider and Sakaaran armies are gone several years early. The only downside is for the Guardians, because their Gamora permanently absconded to the Main Timeline, and their Nebula is dead. Now the biggest problems they have to deal with are a Ronan with no army and, eventually, Ego. Is Ronan with no army supplied by Thanos a big enough catalyst to even forge the Guardians into a team/family? I’m really not sure. The army doesn’t come into play until the assault on Xandar itself, so it’s possible. If not, though, then Ego won’t find out about Peter (at least not as soon), which is a really good thing, because a Peter without the Guardians might not be able to fight back against Ego’s sales pitch. Meanwhile, on Earth, without Thanos, the Avengers will need another reason besides the sudden existential threat he provides to get back together after Civil War, but Natasha’s safe and Tony will likely survive to see many more of Morgan’s birthdays and give Pepper anxiety over his inability to permanently quit Iron Manning. In this timeline, the Asgardian ship makes it safely to Earth, with Loki, Heimdall, and all of the refugees alive. Also, Nidavellir is fully populated with dwarves and Eitri’s hands aren’t covered in metal.
Steve’s New Branch: Yeah, I said what I said. You expect me to believe that Steve Rogers went back to the ‘40s, swept Peggy—future founder and director of SHIELD—off her feet, and didn’t act on his knowledge of Zola’s Hydra infiltration plans, Bucky’s survival, and the upcoming threat of Thanos? There is absolutely no way he could keep that low of a profile and live with himself. Also, he’s just about the most famous guy of his era. There’s no way nobody is recognizing him in all those years. Therefore, Steve’s life with Peggy spun off into a separate timeline. I imagine Steve would have garnered a good relationship with Hank and Janet, so that when he needed to, after he had outlived Peggy (and probably his timeline’s Bucky) he could use their technology for a brief return to the Main Timeline to hand off the shield to Sam and say goodbye. Also, I firmly believe that Steve told Bucky his plan before he went back to restore the Stones, and for whatever reason, Bucky declined. The only problem is the frozen Steve in Main Timeline Steve’s new branch. When does Main Timeline Steve wake him up? How does he feel about essentially stealing that Steve’s life, and how does the world react to two Steves once that one isn’t frozen anymore? Is Peggy okay with this? Can they find him a home in some other timeline where Steve died early or something?
Main Timeline: Even though the *past* of the main timeline is the same (including Peggy/Sousa), if I understood what was happening right, things should be pretty screwed up right now. Yay for there being a Gamora in the main timeline once again, but the Guardians+Thor are going to have an interesting time making up for her lost character development. Far more pressing, though, is that the Avengers just dumped everyone who was snapped out of existence into the present time, after five years have gone by without them. Do the writers realize how insane that would be for everyone? Sure, it’s great that these people are alive again, but it’s not like the survivors (and I covered in this post how few of those there would realistically be after the immediate and longer term fallout of the Snap) didn’t continue with their lives. Widows and widowers would have remarried. Orphaned kids would have been adopted. Cars and homes would’ve been sold. Governments are likely still in shambles. The worst irony is that there probably *will* be staggering food shortages now. For my own peace of mind, I have to headcanon that it wasn’t possible to simply cancel out Thanos’s original snap and have everyone retroactively never vanish, because no matter how cute Morgan Stark is, she is not worth this massive universal backlash. So let’s just say bringing the dusted people back to the current time is just the best they could do, and that’s that. And maybe I can assume that the Avengers are smart enough to realize the food shortage problem and use the Stones to double the resources until everything’s as close to normal again as it can be. Still, is Far From Home going to deal with this? All of the kids appear to be the same age, so did they all get snapped? Statistically, there should’ve been a few places getting hit harder than others, so it’s possible. But it bugs me. If they were really set on doing this, we could’ve had Peter awkwardly dealing with the fact that Ned is now 22, along with a good number of his classmates that, from his perspective, he was just on a field trip with a couple days ago.
I guess the still-running TV shows that are caught up to the present day (meaning Runaways, Cloak & Dagger, and Agents of SHIELD, but probably not Jessica Jones) are going to have to be from the 2014 Branch, though, because how exactly would they be able to deal with this?

About the Muse: Enambris
NAME OF YOUR MUSE: Enambris Ravn’rose, nee Rosen’ash
ONE PICTURE YOU LIKE BEST OF YOUR MUSE’S FC:
Tumblr media
I searched for months for an FC for Enambris that I actually liked for the character and never had any luck finding a face that fit, so this is about as close as I’ve gotten!
TWO HEADCANONS YOU HAVE FOR YOUR MUSE:
Enambris spends the majority of her time on the exciting pursuit of national bureaucracy and negotiations, which she finds horrifically boring. The woman is blunt, and as a result she has a particularly tense relationship with her contacts in Ul’dah’s Syndicate, which is not helped by the number of noise complaints generated by her organization’s headquarters, especially in recent days.
She has no scars or any other identifying marks - including freckles - except for a single scar on her face. Far from making her look flawless, her beauty is the sort that is haunting, rather than enthralling, occasionally to the point of distress.
THREE THINGS THAT YOUR MUSE LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME:
Physical Release - Enambris is completely hooked on adrenaline, and she gets that addiction-fed rush from intense physical activity, namely brawling and sex. Either is perfectly acceptable to her, but the latter is far more enjoyable when her husband is feeling particularly hot-blooded.
Reading - Quiet time is rare for the poor young woman, but when she can get it she prefers to spend that time in the reading nook of the home she shares with Derelict, reading by herself or listening to him read aloud to her, an activity both have come to enjoy.
Dancing - It’s no secret that Enambris can sing and dance, even so far as performing for audiences at clubs and events, but lately she’s enjoyed slipping away from her duties to patronize the Scarlet Pole, a little black-tie den in Kugane where the heavy opiate smoke and swanky music makes it impossible not to take to the dance floor.
SEVEN PEOPLE THAT YOUR MUSE LOVES/LIKES:
Derelict Ravn’rose - Enambris met him when his name was still Cerelik, nearly fourteen years ago, when she was just a girl looking to start a war. Derelict always says that she’s the death of him, but most people are unaware that he means it quite literally. Almost a decade and a half, three deaths and a couple of wars later, the two are now happily married. He’s dangerous, unpredictable, and endlessly shady, but Enambris never could stay away from him.
Belladonna Slater - Enambris’ first shield sister, Bella was reborn from a ritual to cleanse the soul-sickness from her previous incarnation Maidari. The two are still close sisters, and Enambris takes great pride in being the source of Bella’s biscuit addiction.
Caelric Spades - Her right hand in the Network and brother in arms, Enambris has become exceptionally fond of Ric as both a brother and friend. He keeps her honest with herself, and the two manage to occasionally share a brain.
Moebius - An advanced machine intelligence built by Caelric, Moebius has become very dear to Enambris. He’s clever, curious, and childlike, and Enambris finds herself terrified of what trauma lingers beneath his coding after his recovery from the clutches of Wilhasir.
Isuke Ejinn - Kind, quick, and endlessly optimistic, Isuke has endeared herself to Enambris like a little sister, and Enambris has become ferociously protective of her.
Raphael Delarue - Her first friend after leaving Ishgard behind in favor of wandering, Raphael and Enambris have a relationship that can only be described as “intense”, if only because “good” or “bad” are not even close to capable of summing up their strange history. Despite the turbulence and the strain that seems to have slowly sent them drifting apart, Enambris still thinks of Raphael as her dearest friend.
Moth Eitri - The result of an ancient megalomaniac’s insatiable curiosity, Moth has become the darling of nearly everyone in the Network, Enambris included. She thinks of the bug-girl as one of her own pack, and as such Enambris is also fiercely and furiously protective of Moth, as well as Moth’s infant daughter Bee, who is in her uncle’s care.
TWO THINGS YOUR MUSE REGRETS:
The Death of Eloise - A little more than three years ago, Enambris was a participant in an exorcism to rid the abyssal demon Alyris from Eloise Daemond, which didn’t go as planned. Both Eloise and Alyris were killed when the exorcism went awry, and eventually led to the rise of Elizabeth, the ashkin shade of Eloise responsible for the horribly mutated bloodbeasts. The silver lining to this is, of course, that Enambris gained a sister - Belladonna.
Blind Autumn - Enambris believes she was simply not strong enough for the battle that temporarily claimed her life, and permanently claimed the life of her then-fiance Crion. While she is happy with Derelict and their fates are too closely intertwined to have been parted, she bears guilt for what took place.
A PHOBIA YOUR MUSE HAS:
Isolation - Growing up in solitude left its mark, but not nearly as much as the time she spent in her own Purgatory. She still finds difficulty in rooms that are too empty or too quiet.
TAGGED BY: @thegodnameddream Thank you for the tag!! Sorry I’m a million years late ;-; TAGGING: @derelict-ravnrose @its-morphin-time-xiv @scoundrel-xiv @glowinggunmetal @synne-spades @lilyverlial Aaaaand... uh... everyone I guess, do the thing and tag me so I can see.

Post-IW MCU Rewatch: Thor: The Dark World
Yay more Thor! (Yes I know this is widely considered to be the worst of the MCU movies and I DO NOT CARE. *hugs entire population of Asgard possessively*)
This prologue is ridiculous. I don’t know if it’s Anthony Hopkins’s inflection or if it’s just a step too far in the high fantasy direction, but it does make me cringe a bit. More showing, less telling! The prologues in the LotR movies were way more interesting than this.
The Dark Elf language also makes me cringe. I am very aware that it’s preposterous to assume that people from different planets speak English, but what’s most important to me is that actors cannot deliver nuanced performances when they are speaking gibberish. At least when it’s real languages, someone can coach them on inflection and stuff, but they really hamstrung Christopher Eccleston by making him say these silly-sounding lines.
Malekith has no imagination if the only thing he could think to do with the Reality Stone was turn stuff into dark matter.
“Benevolent god” indeed. Sending the Chitauri to slaughter people doesn’t really fit that description, sweetie.
Seriously Anthony Hopkins’s delivery is really weird in some places.
Odin is now three for three on children who showed scary genocidal tendencies, so I think there’s a lot of bitterness and feelings of failure behind what he says to Loki. Also Loki’s not showing any remorse at all, even though now would be a great time to explain that he was tortured and manipulated by Thanos. They’re both getting defensive and lashing out instead of engaging in meaningful communication.
Hi Sif! Hi Volstagg! HI THOR! He has such good entrances. Hi Fandral and Hogun! (Even if this is Zachary Levi Fandral with his stupid wig.)
The weapons the raiders are using are really interesting.
Hey I wonder if this Kronan knows Korg.
I love Thor’s smile when all the raiders laugh at his “I accept your surrender.”
*dreamy sigh* Asgard.
HUGIN AND MUNIN! And one actually lands on Odin’s arm! That’s awesome.
Odin ships Thor/Sif. (Me too, Odin.)
Obligatory shirtless Thor scene!
Volstagg and his family! *wibble*
Oh Sif. Rejected. (But Thor’s pretty nice about it.)
Jane is really quite socially awkward, isn’t she? Why did she go on this date?
It says something about how bad of a driver Jane is (hitting Thor, nearly driving off the road) that she would trust Darcy to drive her around (I guess Darcy’s record is slightly better, having only hit Thor once, while they were in the middle of a dust cloud).
“Why’re you calling me?” “I didn’t want to shout.”
Portals! Whee! (Honstly the portal shenanigans are one of the big reasons I love this movie. This crap is so much fun.)
I love the way Darcy wiggles her hand when she says “Gimme your shoe.”
Okay so the Dark Elves are set to wake up if the Aether gets activated? Headcanon time. Judging from all the creepy red lights in their ships, I think they used the Aether to make most of their tech, much like Schmidt did with the Tesseract. So yeah, if the Aether gets activated, their tech would react. That works.
Heimdall’s new armor has an orange stone in the breastplate. I thought he was gonna turn out to be the one who had the Soul Stone, and that it was the source of his infinite sight. ...I’m pretty sure I still like that better than what we ended up with in canon. Also, I only noticed this the other day, but Heimdall’s helmet is shaped the same as Hofund’s hilt, and that’s awesome.
Heee, I love Thor and Heimdall’s chat. I definitely believe that Thor would describe Heimdall as his best friend.
Whoops! Continuity error. Jane should not be in her Asgardian outfit yet. I guess they decided to move this bit to this part of the movie instead of later, but didn’t reshoot it.
Did Thor make this storm or is that just London being London? He does make it stop, I guess.
Sorry guys, Thor already has that dark strand of stuff in his hair; it’s not a Loki memorial braid.
Thor and Darcy’s interactions are always gold.
You sliced off part of that car!
Oh, question answered from before. You CAN see space rushing past from inside the Bifrost. Sweet.
Hi Eir! The Soul Forge is so cool.
Jane takes Odin’s rudeness pretty well. But dang, Odin. I know you ship Thor/Sif, but being mean to the competition is an elementary mistake.
That book is freaking awesome. It’s like the Book of Kells, except the images move and it’s in runes.
Dangit I don’t want the bad guys to be the ones who touch foreheads to show affection!
I really don’t like this look for Frigga. That one-boob breastplate is really weird.
The emotion in Loki’s scene with Frigga’s projection is so great. He wants to sever ties with Odin (or he thinks he does) but he can’t do that without severing ties with Frigga too, and you can see how much it hurts him to say anything that would hurt her. Which he plainly instantly regrets. And it’s the last thing he ever says to her.
Yessss more romantic exposition from Thor.
Hahaha, Jane is so much more shy around Frigga than Odin.
Man the way the Kursed dude kills people is really messed up.
Loki you would not be smiling at this dude if you knew he was going to do much more than cause a bit of mischief.
Thor jumping and grabbing Mjolnir is such a cool shot.
“It’s only because I’ve worried over you that you have survived.” Based on how Odin behaves as soon as she’s dead, that is extremely accurate.
Heimdall is so awesome. Oh, and I love the way the Dark Elves’ ships look almost like they’re made of dragon hide or something. Dragon hide or lava rock. Fantastic design. Fantastic movements.
This movie has so much more of Asgard in it than the first one, which is awesome. Even if it’s mostly getting pummeled by Dark Elves.
Those black hole grenades are freaking terrifying.
Yeah...if Loki hadn’t given that tip about the stairs to the left, the Kursed dude wouldn’t have arrived in time to help Malekith before Frigga finished him off, or before Thor and Odin arrived. :/
Frigga’s funeral is beautiful. The music, however, has been somewhat retroactively ruined by that play in Ragnarok. (Which I adore.)
Even if Loki doesn’t know how much his actions specifically contributed to Frigga’s death, I think he regrets helping the Kursed dude.
Hi Stan!
Dang, Asgardian law is crazy strict if Thor and the Warriors Three are casually talking about being killed by Einherjar if they screw up this plan.
This is so sad, because Loki actually doesn’t betray Thor at any point during this mission. He makes up for it by being incessantly irritating (which is the best stuff in the movie), but he sticks to the plan the whole time. The only one he betrays in this whole movie is Odin.
Okay the dagger/handcuffs trick by Thor is funny and all, but it really doesn’t hold up if you think about it. You’d definitely notice the difference between being handed a dagger and having thick cuffs put on.
Sif is very good at not letting her jealousy show too clearly. And her sword is awesome. Her and Volstagg’s threats to Loki are pretty great.
Peak annoying little brother stuff right here, when they’re in the Dark Elf blade ship. My favorite is “Oh dear. Is she dead?”
So Thor has the “face squashed against glass motif,” and I think Loki has a falling motif. Into the abyss in the first one, out of the ship in this one, and through whatever dimension Doctor Strange trapped him in in Ragnarok.
The flying longboats are so cool.
I love how much Loki likes it whenever Thor gets the better of him with sneakiness. He’s so used to Thor just smashing his way through stuff, so any subtlety he uses (especially when it’s successful against him) is fantastic in his book.
“Ta-dah.”
“What I could do with the power that flows through those veins.” I would love to see what Loki could do with the Aether. He’s already a master of illusions, and the Reality Stone would multiply that by about a thousand. It’d be awesome. And yet he sent it off to Knowhere instead of keeping it (or giving it to Thanos). Just like he kept the Tesseract safe in Asgard’s vault the entire time he was pretending to be Odin. If Loki had really done everything he did in Avengers of his own free will while in his right mind, he would not have gone to such lengths to keep multiple Infinity Stones away from Thanos. Heck, he might even have been the one to commission Stormbreaker from Eitri. I suppose he didn’t use the Stones himself because he knows as well as Thor does how deadly they can be to the wielder, or maybe he knew they’d draw Thanos to him like a beacon.
Thor thinks Loki wants to hurt him because he’s talking about Jane’s mortality, but Loki thinks Thor only cares about Jane and not the fact that their mother just died. They’re so bad at understanding each other.
The bittersweet smiles they exchange after “She wouldn’t want us to fight.”/“Well, she wouldn’t exactly be shocked.” are so painful to watch. They both desperately miss the days before any of this happened, when they were simply brothers, and I think they realize that about each other in this moment. But it’s not enough to fix everything, which is why Thor says “I wish I could trust you” and Loki says “Trust my rage.”
Ian is such a dope.
If a flock of starlings burst up through the ground at my feet like that, I would be scarred for life.
Thor’s plan is awesome. I totally fell for it in the theater. I thought Loki had double-crossed him and chopped his hand off, but they were working together the whole time. I kinda don’t think they let Jane in on it, though. Is the lack of blood on Thor’s arm stump a mistake or a hint that it’s a trick? *rewinds and squints* Ooh, no, it’s because the dagger has a glowy energy field on it! Insta-cauterization! Anyway, this would’ve been the perfect time for Loki to betray Thor for real if he’d wanted to, but he plays along. In part, I think, because he was so impressed with the plan.
Hey guys, even when Loki’s pretending to be a traitor, he doesn’t call himself Laufeyson. STOP CALLING HIM LAUFEYSON IN YOUR TAGS. Also his knife-fighting is awesome.
The Kursed dude’s eyeballs getting sucked out of their sockets was NOT a necessary detail to include.
“You fool, you didn’t listen!” What does Thor mean? What did Loki not listen to? Did Thor tell him that he was only supposed to protect Jane, not him?
Okay so I’m really not sure what the deal is with Loki’s fake death here. I have a couple different theories.
Theory 1: Loki really did get stabbed and really did believe he was dying. After Thor and Jane left to seek shelter from Thor’s uncontrollable grief storm, Loki reverted to his true form (because, dying) and that actually saved his life because Kursed blood isn’t as deadly to the Jotnar as it is to the Aesir, or his vital organs aren’t in the same place anymore, or something. So he was able to heal himself and take advantage of the situation.
Theory 2: Loki never intended to betray Thor, but he always intended to fake his death, both as a way of escaping prison and of avoiding Thanos’s retribution. So as soon as he finished off those four Dark Elves, he turned one of their corpses into a copy of himself and puppeteered it over to stab the Kursed dude and get theatrically killed. It would explain why the Loki who gets stabbed only has a Dark Elf sword and a black hole grenade on him.
I lean more towards theory 1 because I don’t really like the idea that Loki would trick Thor into thinking he was dead the day after their mother died, and also because when they filmed it, they actually meant for this to be Loki’s real death scene, and they only changed it later because test audiences didn’t believe Loki was dead. However, if I put aside my emotions, I have to admit that theory 2 makes more logical sense.
Would Malekith have found the Aether sooner if it hadn’t gotten into Jane? The movie implies pretty strongly that Malekith woke up because the Aether was out of its hiding place.
Mjolnir on the coat hook is such a great gag.
The elevator in Malekith’s ship looks like a spinal column, which is some fantastic design.
Thor’s battle trash talk is always delightful.
PORTAL SHENANIGANS. YESSSSSS.
Poor Mjolnir. It’s trying so hard to get back to Thor. I like to think that when it shatters the glass of that building on its way back up, it’s doing so in frustration.
Hi Jotunheim!
So apparently this isn’t remotely how you get to Greenwich from Charing Cross. Whoops. Maybe that girl was just really flustered at being addressed by Thor and gave him crap directions?
Jane really likes trying to throw herself between an unconscious Thor and a thing that she thinks might kill him.
POETRY. Malekith tried to destroy the Asgardian army by dropping his fleet on them. Now he gets killed by his own ship falling on him.
How’d Loki know about Thor’s line to Odin “There will never be a wiser king than you”?
“I can assure you, it will be absolutely safe here in my collection.” LIAR.
It’s so cool that Chris’s wife is the one who played Jane in the end credits scene. I’m not sure how they failed to do this kiss scene with Natalie in the first place, but whatever.
Every time Thor’s about to show up somewhere in this movie, there’s thunder. :D
Okay so the biggest problems with Thor: The Dark World are that Malekith is the dullest villain in the entire MCU and that Thor kinda doesn’t have a character arc. In a movie where half of his family dies (as far as he knows). How is that even possible? Despite the beautiful funeral, Frigga’s death was really kind of glossed over, and then Loki seemingly dies too, but even though those are very powerful scenes while we’re in them, they don’t leave much of an impact on the rest of the movie. You don’t really feel those losses in the way Thor fights Malekith. Thor should’ve been struggling to stick to the plan instead of just whaling on Malekith blindly with Mjolnir. He should’ve had some breakdown with Jane there to witness it and comfort him. Instead he’s the one comforting Jane when she blames herself for all the loss he’s suffered? No no no. He should’ve either been very emotional, very bent on revenge, or smiling and joking through the pain like he does in Ragnarok and Infinity War. This stoicism is not effective, and it probably contributes to so many people’s (mistaken) belief that, prior to Ragnarok, Thor was a boring character. And Malekith’s side of the battle would’ve been better if it had been personal for him too. He could’ve been more upset at the death of his buddy Algrim, or maybe he had family members who were killed by Bor, which is why he’s so keen on killing members of Asgard’s royal family now. It would’ve been so easy to make this an emotionally intense fight. Instead, it’s merely fun because portal shenanigans. *shrug*
Despite not having much of an arc, Thor is still wonderful. He’s funny, he’s more thoughtful and wise than he’s ever been, he’s gallant, he’s romantic, and he’s getting better and better at working as part of a team and finding solutions besides smashing stuff. Also he makes the best entrances, has awesome armor, and is mesmerizing to watch in battle. I adore him.
Other stuff this movie has going for it. So much more Asgard screentime, even if they cut a few scenes I wish they’d left in. The music is still great. Everything looks gorgeous, and the Dark Elves at least have interesting technology and costumes. No Dutch angles. Plenty of screentime for Heimdall. Every single second of Thor and Loki’s scenes together, being obnoxious bros to each other but still working as a very effective team (heralding all the excellent contentious Brodinson stuff to come in Ragnarok).
