Today on Random 3AM Thoughts...
...exactly how many Significant Threes are there in BSG??? Because like. Is the Three from Final Cut the same as the Three in Downloaded? Which of them is the one from Seasons 3 and 4? Or is that yet another Three who's off doing her own thing? FC!Three is D'Anna Biers; D!Three just refers to herself as Three; Baltar later refers to S3-4!Three as 'the one who calls herself D'Anna' which at least Implies that D'Anna isn't necessarily a collective name a la Simon or Sharon so........lol who knows.
...anyway let's have a poll about it:
(on a semi-related note...is there a convention for tagging Cylon OCs? like 'this Four does not exist in canon but he's another Four who's Doing Stuff in this fic' inquiring minds would like to know lol)

[BSG SEASON 3 SPOILERS (first four episodes)]
Thoughts on the occupation arc:
The Cylon dilemma is rather difficult: "We committed genocide against your people and wiped out more than 99% of you. Now we don't want to kill you anymore, but we also want to prevent you from taking revenge many generations in the future." I feel like on this re-watch I finally understand the motivation for the occupation.
The plot-point with D'Anna and the nuke seemed to be misplaced on the timeline. Most of the humans have already left at that point, should have happened earlier.
I feel like if the Cylons had improved the living conditions for the humans a lot instead of a little would have been a more interesting story. Have them create a material Utopia for the humans to live under the benevolent guidance, would give the humans a more interesting conflict. (have I said this before? maybe I have) This would have given much more meaning to Colonel Tigh's line "Which side are we on? We’re on the side of the demons, Chief. We’re evil men in the gardens of Paradise. Sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I’m surprised you didn’t know that." if the Cylon's actually had created a paradise.
And before I forget: Of all the Cylons, right now Number 2/Leoben is the worst.

"They wake up in the morning, put on their uniforms, and do their jobs. Every day, no pay. No rest. No hope of ever laying down the burden and letting someone else do the job. There are no relief troops coming, no Colonial Fleet training new recruits every day. The people on Galactica are it." - D'Anna Biers in her (in-universe) documentary about life aboard the Galactica (S02E08 Final Cut)
This is a clear failure in strategic planning from Adama and Roslin. They should by this point have at least started to establish the infrastructure to conscript civilians from the fleet into service, aiming to have at least two full complements - maybe more - for the Galactica that can take turns. (The Galactica crew can then intermarry with the civilian population, found families, built private lifes - this will make them more effective at their jobs.)
In the following episode it is shown that some Vipers are already beyond the point where they can be repaired - trying to establish a production chain for new fighters and weapons should be a medium term priority. - This would also allow them to arm the civilian ships with guns, missles, and perhaps even some fighters. And if you have crew members from the Galactica on every ship in the model described about, they could effectively use these weapons in case of a Cylon attack.
I suspect the creators of the series wanted to military-civilian-relations to somewhat resemble the one in the United States in the 2000s (with a purely professional military that has limited interactions with civilians), but under much more dire circumstances. But under more dire circumstances that military model is ill-advised, should be changed, and likely would be changed.
