I wanted to put out a post asking if there are any black nonverbal or deaf/HoH people who use BASL who would be willing to consult on an animation project?

My junior year of art school starts this fall, and I will begin working of my junior-senior thesis 3D animation, where the main character is a black nonbinary person who, in the beginning and ending scenes, is seen communicating with sign language. I am white and more-or-less abled-hearing (I have Auditory Processing Disorder but I don’t know if that counts), but I know there are differences between ASL and BASL, and I wanted to have a lot of sensitivity around using this dialect accurately and respectfully.

The consultation would involve taking videos of your hands as you sign the ‘dialogue’ I have written, which would then be used as a reference in the 3D animation. I am a relatively broke student but I am willing to pay for your consultation. Please DM me if you’re interested!

Note: I apologize in advance if I have mistakenly used any offensive terms in this post, I tried to do a lot of research but I’m sure I have shortcomings and gaps in my knowledge.

Es un orador, escritor y consultor norteamericano nacido en San Diego California en 1933.

Es autor de un célebre programa de liderazgo y superación personal, que ha dado a conocer a través de conferencias, libros, videos, cintas de audio, y colabora como consultor en varias empresas líderes, así como apoyo a personas, atletas, familias y estudiantes para mejorar su rendimiento. Ha apoyado a políticos, astronautas del programa Apollo y ganadores del Súper Bowl.

Estudió en una academia naval de los Estados Unidos, y ha publicado varios libros entre los que se destacan, Semillas de grandeza y Psicología del ganador.

Su madre trabajaba en una fábrica y su padre en un almacén después de haber servido en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Cuando él tenía 10 años, sus padres se separaron y tuvo poco contacto con su padre desde entonces.

Asistió a la Academia Naval de los Estados Unidos en Annapolis y se convirtió en aviador naval después de graduarse. Waitley recibió su licenciatura en ciencias de la Academia Naval.

Después de dejar la Marina, Waitley se convirtió en representante de relaciones públicas financieras para una empresa de electrónica. Mas tarde, Jonas Salk un investigador médico y virólogo estadounidense, (principalmente reconocido por su aporte a la vacuna contra la poliomielitis), le ofreció un trabajo para recaudar fondos en el Instituto Salk de Estudios Biológicos.

En 1976, Waitley grabó algunas de las cintas de audio que se convertirían en The Psychology of Winning en una iglesia local. Lanzó el programa de audio en 1978, que vendió más de 2 millones de copias y generó $ 100 millones en ventas.

Durante la década de 1980 hasta la de 2000, Waitley publicó más de 15 libros como Seeds of Greatness, The Winner's Edge y Empires of the Mind, y a la fecha ha vendido más de 10 millones de audios en 14 diferentes idiomas.
