I want to quickly apologise for the time it's taken me to get the results out and next round up and running this time around. I also added an optional question to the end of the last round's voting page as an interest check for a hypothetical second tournament, and the consensus with over 500 votes suggests that's something people would be interested in. depending on how much time I have and how well the final two rounds of this first tournament perform I'll probably put together a second within the next couple of weeks. I'm still taking suggestions for competitors, so drop me an ask!

Ponyo vs Wednesday Addams: Ponyo with 475 votes (43.6%) and Wednesday Addams with 618 votes (56.4%)

Mabel Pines vs Trucy Wright: Mabel Pines with 627 votes (57.2%) and Trucy Wright with 469 votes (42.8%) [a very sad result for me personally, and from the looks of it lots of people in the notes calling for a #trucysweep, but she fought well and I can't think of a better weirdgirl for her to finally lose to. congrats mabel!]

Coraline Jones vs Lilo Pelekai: Coraline Jones with 336 votes (30.7%) and Lilo Pelekai with 760 votes (69.3%) [lilo takes the title of most votes this round, beating out the most voted girl in round 1.]

Tome Kurata vs Velma Dinkley: Tome Kurata with 558 votes (50.9%) and Velma Dinkley with 538 votes (49.1%) [this one was TENSE. the aggressive campaigning for tome paid off in the end, though! I always saw tome as somewhat of an underdog, but as we've seen literally nothing is impossible!]

What comes next?

With 6 contestants currently, the round 4 result would lead us to an uneven number for the finals, which i'm not a fan of. So, finally, it's time for the revival round! To have proper quarter finals, two polyships will be brought back from the dead. All of the losers will be competing!! Because there's a limit of 10 options per poll, and we have way more than 10, there will be multiple brackets. It won't be 2x2 like the main showdown, however. I'll throw 10 contestants into one poll (one of them will be 8 because we don't have 40) and the winners for each one will face off against each other! The two most popular polyships will be revived for the quarterfinals!

The brackets for the revival round will be RANDOMIZED! there's no way I can go through sorting 38 ships and try to balance it out on my own, sorry.

So! If you polyship already lost, prepare the propaganda cause this is your chance to bring them back!

Y'know, every time a reboot comes and race swaps the cast I think nothing of it. I think the representation is nice and it doesn't change the personality of the character so it doesn't affect me in any way. Even if the reboot SUCKS, when people still put the race swapping as some big deal that is also one of the flaws of the show, it makes me so mad because we should be focusing on other (actually important) bad parts of the show.

And then comes Velma. People do point the race swapping as an awful part of the "reboot", and for the first time I find myself agreeing.

It is so abundantly clear, that it was not simply a matter of representation, not even JUST for marketing and engagement - it was to make Mindy's self insert, and shitty race jokes. That makes me so fucking mad because it's so saturated throughout this entire piece of garbage, like they really cannot write anything else except shitty edgy humor, race jokes, and meta humor.

And of course the entire cast had to be race swapped as well because "Velma" making "white people suck" jokes every three seconds, when all her friends are white, would be weird. Therefore only "Fred" is white because he's an awful person in this (another thing I'm mad about).

Race swapping ends up being another extremely valid flaw of the show.

So congrats to Velma, for making me mad about something I'm never mad about in other awful reboots.
