Former Columbus police officer indicted in Donovan Lewis' death
you may remember the story of the cops busting into an apartment in the middle of the night, and killing a man laying in bed. A Franklin County grand jury has chosen to indict a former police officer who fatally shot a 22-year-old man while serving a warrant nearly a year ago.

Promises | Tony Dinozzo | NCIS
Tumblr media
No.28 (Alt 15): Self-defence
Fail to plan, plan to fail.
That was a phrase Tony had heard many many many times growing up. He had been reckless, especially throughout college, but eventually he had mellowed out somewhat. He still acted like an overgrown child but he knew when to reel it in. Gibbs had helped mainly with that, but the impact of the work he did at NCIS was also a contributing factor.
He worked his way in the ranks, gaining his title of Very Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo. If anyone had asked why he joined the police department, then NCIS, or even stayed with the agency for as long as he had, he would say something along the lines of 'the badge helps pull the ladies' or even 'the adrenaline rush, there is nothing like it.' Both were lies
Sure, he hadnt lied when he mentions the ladies, but one lady in particular was the cause for his career choice. (Y/N) (L/N). She like many others had failed to plan and it had been her downfall.
She and Tony had been close growing up, and even closer during college. They never official got together, but it was a matter of when not if. Everyone who met the pair knew that they were destined to be together; deep down the both of them knew it too.
Maybe it was fear of losing their friendship, or the worry of commiting to something new, but neither one ever took the step beyond friends.
Tony had always told her to be safe, especially in a city Columbus. Usually she listened, that night was the exception. She had gone to the cinema but hadn't judged the run time of the film, missing the last local bus back to campus. She had called from a payphone Tony to come pick her up. She was dead by the time he had made it to her.
The police had said it was a random mugging gone wrong, but as he watched her lifeless body where it was pulled from a morgue drawer, he couldn't help but disagree. The way he skin was ripped and limbs were mangled told another story. The mortician said that she put up a good fight, but her self defence wasn't enough. She had clearly had a lot of fight in her, but she still lost.
Tony swore two things to her in that morgue. He promised to find who had hurt her and get his revenge. He also swore that he would not allow this in future, that he would be there for the people who experienced the same thing but be there to save them. In the end he only made right on one of those promises.

An Ohio social worker was arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old boy she was assigned to counsel, according to police and local reports.
Payton Shires, 24, allegedly admitted to the disturbing behavior during a call with the boy’s mother and detectives from the Columbus Police Department, according to reports.
Shires of Mount Sterling was previously employed by the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP), a group which specializes in working with families involved in the foster care system, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
It remains unclear whether she was assigned to the boy through NYAP.
The boy’s mother contacted police Sept. 27 to report her suspicions after allegedly discovering inappropriate text messages between her son and Shires, court documents showed.
Cops allegedly conducted a search of the phone and discovered footage of the boy and Shires having sexual contact.
When investigators interviewed the boy, he reportedly admitted having sex with Shires on at least two occasions in September.
Shires was arrested Friday after allegedly admitting her behavior with the boy to his mother on the call monitored by police.
She was charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, according to WSYX, and is being held on $500,000 bond.
State records show that the social worker was licensed in June.
“The National Youth Advocate Program is saddened by the situation involving one of our former employees and a young person served by our organization,’’ the organization said in a statement.

IN THESE TIMES
COLUMBUS, OHIO —The event was billed as “Holi-drag Storytime” and the electronic flyer asked would-be audience members if they were “ready for a family-friendly, LGBTQ+ holiday tradition?” It was going to be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church and tickets were $10, which included hot chocolate, a goody bag and a candy cane. The school sponsoring and hosting sold about 1,000 tickets and raised thousands of dollars for a local LGBTQ charity. The event was canceled mere hours before it was set to begin.
That Saturday morning, more than 50 people, including members of the Proud Boys and the Patriot Front, stood along the road leading to the church in tactical gear, holding guns and wearing face masks. They chanted “life, liberty, victory” and “reclaim America.” Some gave the Nazi salute.
“They showed up with army weapons for an event that was for kids from kindergarten through fifth grade,” recalls Mikayla Denise, one of the drag queens scheduled to perform. “They were trying to induce fear into our hearts by coming around wearing that army gear, making us feel unsafe, making us feel like they want to hurt or kill us.

(Drag Queen Story Time Reading Held In Austin, Texas on March 11.  Texas Republicans have introduced several bills that seek to deem any affiliation with drag shows as sexually oriented businesses.)
“These people are coming to spew hate when we are creating a positive, beautiful space for kids with the support of their parents and teachers. I always wanted to be an educator. When I perform in the schools, I can use my art form to connect with young people. I didn’t grow up seeing folks that look like me living truthfully and honestly, and that’s why I do the story hour.”
Cheryl Ryan, manager of Red Oak Community School, the elementary school hosting the event, blamed Columbus police for forcing organizers to cancel the show. “I spent a week calling our police department and leaving voicemails about the reports we had seen,” Ryan told The Nation.
According to Ryan, the police presence was minimal, while police Sgt. Steven Dyer was recorded high-fiving a member of the Proud Boys and saying, “I’m here to support their right to protest.”
“In the end, our performers felt unsafe without a police presence, while our [community] safety team felt unsafe with a police presence,” Ryan said. This situation has played out more and more in cities across the nation this past year. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, in the first six months of 2022, the Proud Boys showed up to 28 separate LGBTQ and reproductive justice events. In June 2022 — celebrated as Pride Month — the activity increased.

I run a shit post dnd game. The players and myself refer to the game by one of two names. Weednd or The Brewicide Squad. The player and I get inebriated before and during the session. Then we play the game which is 90% bits and improv.
Before we started playing the game the players and I would exchange things we called “Fun Facts”. The way they worked is if I or another player put “Fun Fact” before some lore we would all have to acknowledge that the new edition is completely canon to the world.
I will share player specific fun facts when I do character specific posts. First however I would like to share fun facts about the world.
“Fun fact, in the Miller Highlands it is illegal to drive under the influence of sobriety”
“Fun fact: The 9 main line gods are as follows
Cheech and Chong, Rob Zombie, Rave lord Nito, The Sun, Peter Griffin, ICP, Boss Baby, Slurms McKenzie, And Greg from Management”
“Fun fact there are 12 banned deities:
Among us Bean (red), Randy Pitchford, The Noid
Vince McMan, Grey Mann, Blutarch, Eric from HR (Dickhead), Sasuke, Elon Musk, The Police Department, Christopher Columbus, Duck.go”
“Fun fact: Trap is in fact the only music in hell.”
“Fun fact: old texts make note of a city called “Cleveland, Ohio” to this day nobody has been able to find any historic evidence of it existing except for giant pillar like structures on the coast of the Millerlands built by the ancient Ohioans”
I will not be elaborating further on the why of any of these fun facts

Help the family of Sinzae Reed
Sin'Zae Reed, 13, was fatally shot Oct. 12 at the Wedgewood Apartments complex in #Columbus Hilltop neighborhood. His sister, 20-year-old Makayla Nichols, and other family members said Sinzae was a good kid and want justice for him from authorities. 36-year-old Krieg Butler, a resident of the complex, fatally shot Reed.
Megan Reed, Sin'Zae's mother, said her son will now always be a 13-year-old teenage boy that she can longer hold or hear him speak. In his obituary, family members remembered Reed, who went by 'Zay,' as a boy who loved music, video games and spending time with his friends. Reed attended KIPP Columbus, a charter school on the Northeast Side.
According to court records, an eyewitness saw Butler exit a red truck and fire multiple times at Reed. Butler then got back in the truck and fled the scene. Butler was initially charged with Reed's homicide and ordered held on $1 million bond, but prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the case after Butler's arrest; Homicide charges were dropped pending further police investigation into Butler's claim of self-defense in the shooting.
"All I'm asking for is justice for my baby — is that too much to give?" Reed said. "I will never stop until Sin'Zae gets justice, I will forever be his voice."
Reed and others at the press conference called for the immediate re-arrest of Butler. Ramon Obey II, president of JUST 614 and event organizer, said he was calling on members of the community to pressure the Franklin County Prosecutor's office to take action.
Obey called Sunday for four points of action from criminal justice officials: that Butler be immediately re-arrested and charged with murder, that Franklin County Prosecutor Gary Tyack resign from his position, an apology from the city of Columbus to Reed's family and a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into the shooting.
Dejuan Sharp, a member of the Columbus Downtownerz who has been advocating for Reed's family, said the criminal justice system was incapable of delivering justice to the family.
Obey said that community activists planned several events to continue to try and pressure the justice system into action against Butler. On Thursday, they plan to travel to Tyack's office and deliver a letter saying they want the removal of the member of his office responsible for dismissing the criminal charges against Butler. Next Saturday, a protest at noon at the Ohio Statehouse, where they plan to march for not just Reed, but also Donovan Lewis and Casey Goodson, who were both shot and killed by police officers in Franklin County.
On Jan. 9, Obey said he and others plan to attend Columbus City Council's next regular meeting and ask every member of council to sign a letter saying they support the immediate arrest of Butler and removal of Franklin County prosecutor personnel.

July 26 (Reuters) - Police in Circleville, Ohio, on Wednesday fired an officer who unleashed his dog on a Black man during a highway traffic stop and ordered the animal to attack even though the man had his hands raised, according to video of the incident.
"Officer (Ryan) Speakman did not meet the standards and expectations we hold for our police officers. Officer Speakman has been terminated from the department, effective immediately," police in a statement.
Speakman could not be reached for comment, but the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, a police union, said in a statement that Speakman was fired "without JUST CAUSE" and it was filing a grievance on his behalf.
The incident unfolded on July 4 after law enforcement officers engaged in the lengthy pursuit of a semi-tractor trailer driven by Jadarrius Rose, 23. The vehicle was missing a mud flap and it had failed to stop for an inspection, a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) said.
It came to a halt on a state highway about 40 miles (64 km) south of Columbus after officers deployed tire deflation devices, known as "stop sticks," for a second time.
In a video provided by the highway patrol, Rose is standing by the vehicle with his hands raised as law enforcement officials order him to get on the ground.
Moments later, an officer with the Circleville Police Department unleashed a police dog on Rose even though a state trooper told the local officer not to release the dog.
"Do not release the dog - with his hands up," the trooper can be heard shouting on the video.
The video shows the dog running towards Rose, now on his knees, and appears to show the canine biting and pulling the driver. Rose screams loudly and can be heard saying, "please get it off."
A social media campaign that formed after the story came to light last week has called a protest for Saturday. A Facebook group called Dismantle Circleville Police demanded the dismissal of Speakman and Police Chief Shawn Baer, in addition to dropping all charges against Rose.
Circleville police department declined to comment beyond the statement.

Kaila Morris has been missing since September 17th, 2009. The then-21-year-old was last seen in the New Hope community of Columbus, Mississippi. At the time of her disappearance, Kaila was a student at Mississippi State University in Starkville. She was living near the campus in a condo that she shared with her stepbrother. Kaila's mother and stepfather lived in the New Hope community; located approximately 36 miles away from her condo. On the day Kaila vanished, she was visiting her parent's house. Kaila's mother, Bonnie Thames, was on vacation in Florida during Kaila's visit to their home on September 17th. The only person at the residence was Kaila's stepfather, Robert 'Butch' Triplett. According to Butch, Kaila left the home around 8:00 PM, after saying she was going to Carrollton, Alabama to visit her best friend Labriska Walker, and her godson. Butch said Kaila was picked up in a dark-colored van or SUV. She left her own car and her dog at the residence. Kaila has never been seen or heard from again.
Butch's version of events implies that there was some sort of mix-up between Kaila and Labriska. Butch claimed that Labriska and her son showed up at the New Hope residence about 15 minutes after Kaila left. It was reportedly not unusual for Kaila and Labriska to show up at each other's homes unannounced, as it was difficult for them to get in touch via call or text due to the lack of cell phone service in New Hope. The following afternoon, Kaila's mother Bonnie spoke to Butch, who told her that Kaila was still at Labriska's house. Bonnie thought it was odd for Kaila to leave for that long without taking her dog. Bonnie then decided to reach out to Labriska on Facebook, who told her that Kaila had never shown up at her house. Bonnie said she immediately knew something was wrong at that point, so she asked Butch to report Kaila missing to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department. Although Kaila was an adult at the time she vanished, her loved ones were immediately concerned for her safety. Many have described Kaila as an extremely shy and cautious young woman. She would often lock the door to the condo that she shared with her stepbrother the second he'd leave the residence–even if he was just taking out the trash. In addition to her dog and her car, Kaila also left behind her medication, which she required daily, and many of her other personal belongings. With all of this is mind, it seems unlikely that Kaila vanished on her own accord. As police investigated Kaila's disappearance, they learned of many suspicious circumstances involving Butch. He initially presented himself as a concerned stepfather, even stating he was upset with himself for not getting more information from Kaila about her plans that evening. However, as the investigation continued, detectives learned some concerning information about both Butch himself and his relationship with Kaila. The events that followed Kaila's disappearance further deepened these concerns.

Two little girls kidnapped from a Burger King on Sunday lunchtime are feared to be in "extreme danger," as police searching for the children have named the suspected abductor.
An Amber Alert was issued after 4-year-old Kylann Harper and 11-year-old Kylie Horne were taken from the fast food restaurant at 7301 Veterans Parkway in Columbus, Georgia, shortly after 11:50 a.m. Authorities say the children are believed to be in the custody of Mikaela Harrell, 49. They did not reveal whether the woman was known to the children; Newsweek has reached out to Columbus Police Department by email seeking further information and comment.
According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), there were 359,094 reports of missing children last year—although it should be noted that some of those numbers are repeat entries for children who ran away multiple times. Whereas hundreds of thousands of children and juveniles are reported missing each year, analysis by Reuters suggests that the vast majority (more than 95 percent) are runaways who are found relatively quickly. Abduction by a non-custodial parent or a relative accounts for most of the remaining cases, and just 0.1 percent are reported as being abducted by a stranger.
Harrell is said to have driven the children away in a 2011 blue/gray Honda CRV SUV with a Georgia tag of TGS7835. She was thought to be heading towards Ocilla, Georgia.
Detectives later issued new information, saying the trio are now thought to be traveling in a 2004 Gold Lexus with a Georgia tag of SBZ8631. Officers published photos of Harrell, the girls, and the vehicles involved in the suspected abduction on social media in a bid to help them find the children.
Tumblr media
The NCMEC issued Amber Alert posters for both girls, saying they are "believed to be in extreme danger."
Local news channel Fox 5 Atlanta reported that another woman—who the outlet named as the girls' mother Kaila Spires—was also considered a suspect in the case. Spires's photograph was included in the NCMEC missing persons' posters for the children, although no mention was made of her role in their disappearance. The connection between Spires and Harrell remains unclear, and police made no mention of Spires in their social media alerts as they appealed for the public's help to find the children. Newsweek is seeking further clarification from police.
Kylie is described as a white girl with straight, shoulder-length, brown hair and brown eyes. She is 4′9″ and weighs 75 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray sweatpants and white Croc shoes.
Kylann is described as a white girl with red hair and green eyes. She is 3′4″ and weighs 35 pounds. She was last seen wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants, although no further description of her outfit was available.
Harrell is described as a white woman, who has straight, brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5′7″ and weighs 158 pounds.
Anyone with information about Harrell or the girls' whereabouts should contact the Columbus Police Department on 706-987-0994.
