The Ring of Brass endures.

i have made the mistake of beginning this series at a very emotionally low point and now i am just.... grieving for all of these people. of this city. of this land and i don’t think i will be okay for a long, long while. i know this is not my usual terror content but i just ... made this and i wanted to save it somewhere. oh my god i’ve never watched d&d, let alone critical role before i literally don’t go here but this series.

i will need some time to recover but oh. i am just continuously weeping while drawing my hands are all curled up. i only wanted to see more of brennan lee mulligan because i saw a short on youtube and thought he was a comedian i did not expect this. (again i’m sorry for inflicting this upon you all and offer you a textless version ??)

This is so terrifically sad, but I can’t help but commend Brennan for rewarding Travis. He did possibly one of the most taboo things in D&D, he left the party, and he was rewarded for it. He got to save his family. Because this isn’t a normal campaign. This is a tragedy, and heroism gets you nothing. Selfishness, as contradictory as it seems, is the most useful trait.

AND THE THING IS—because I know how that last sentence sounds—HE WASN’T SELFISH. HE WAS THE LEAST SELFISH OUT OF ALL OF THEM. ITS LITERALLY THE LAST THING HE SAID BEFORE HE LEFT BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE WAS TOO SELFISH AND BLINDED BY GLORY AND NYDAS TRIED TO SAVE TOO MUCH but Travis WASN’T and he was rewarded. The Sightwarden, perhaps the only non-visionary in that room, gave us a single thread of hope for the future.

do you ever rewatch the exu calamity finale and realize that all of avalir burned, but the agrupnin home was the first. the whole city fell to the fire of the nine hells, to the demons and fiends and asmodeus himself, but the agrupnin home burned first. cerrit pressed a candle to the wall of his own home, in anger and self-loating and grief and desperation, and the home burned. and then cerrit flew away, at the end of it all, and had a chance to build a new one.
