Can you believe we took these shots in the middle of winter? I could have never imagined living in paradise! My life completely changed when I decided to leave rainy Belgium and move to sunny Spain! Dedicating my time to photography was definitely also one of the best decisions of my life.

📍Lake Como, Italy - June 7, 2023
While on my kick of editing pictures from my travels this year, I decided to look back on some pictures from my trip to Italy back in June. I've tried many times over the course of my photography journey to edit digital photos to look like they were shot on film, and I think this might be my most successful attempt to date.
I've been editing quite a few of these old photos lately... mostly as a way to test out the 2024 Photoshop and Lightroom updates and play around new features, but I've actually gotten some really fun results out of it. This was just some basic Lightroom adjustments, but I feel like it had such a successful outcome.
During my process of learning photography, I was always so worried about developing a "style", and I worked really hard to try and find one style of editing that I liked, and that felt like me. It took a long time, but I feel like I am finally getting somewhere with that, and yet, at the same time, I also feel like I am at a point where I am more excited by trying new editing styles. Experimenting. As much as I love having a completely cohesive body of work, trying new styles (like this faux shot-on-film aesthetic) is such an engaging way of working with photo editing. 10/10

hold it down fest 2023
...
i took a camera to a show for the first time yesterday
clouds of smoke, red light, shivering
standing onstage with everything moving, faster
faster than i could understand
bass in my chest
shards of cymbal noise
ear-fucked and coughing
tangled cables, screaming
broken bottles bruised elbows
endlessness

Some more pictures from yesterday, testing out the new lens I bought for my camera! I've been wanting a wide angle prime lens for ages now, so I've been very happy testing it out (and also very stressed because it was not cheap). So far I am loving the quality, and have been trying to compare it to my old travel lens, which was an 18-135mm. Safe to say, these pictures are coming out much nicer.
