PenekoR's artwork.

Probably another one of my top favorite artists in FEH, and definitely considered one of the most skilled, seeing as they have a HUGE list of credits for characters they've drawn (though for some reason the website I'm using to look at the credits doesn't have Legendary Xander there, even though he is on the website under PenekoR?). Anyways, moving on.

Before I start talking about the things I love about PenekoR's artwork, all the good stuff and then the criticisms, I have to get one criticism out of the way just so y'all know I AM aware of it, and that is: PenekoR has issues drawing noses when they draw faces straight on:

I fully acknowledge that as a criticism because it does look funky, and I think it's something they could easily improve on, but for some reason it hasn't fully been addressed. Though I will say that Legendary Xander looks like they're finally trying a different approach, as they gave him nostrils and some lighting/shading:

But I'm including the fullbody portrait here because we're gonna talk about why PenekoR's artwork is so friggin' awesome. PenekoR has some AMAZING artwork in the multiple fields: expression, posework, anatomy, color, and detail. All can be seen here with Xander's stern face and this gorgeous armor design.

Seriously, look at the posework and expression for Yarne, Valter, and Catherine:

Everything checks out, nothing looks funky, Valbar's insane face is captured perfectly, and the babe Catherine looks confident and beautiful. Plus look at Yarne, he doesn't exactly have much going for him in terms of clothing or hair to give him motion, but PenekoR pulls it off by giving him his hunched forward pose with his arms stretched forward. He's leaping forward to attack.

And then there's the other thing: PenekoR draws gorgeous men AND gorgeous women.

And Sonya:

Which I also have to say that Sonya's art here is perfect, it shows exactly how sultry and assured she is as a character, something I kind of felt was missed with the Easter alt we had.

Now aside from the nose criticism, the only other criticism I can think of was Aversa's attack portrait:

It IS possible for women who are super flexible to twist like that, but that's like for gymnasts, and even showing it in artwork can look funky to the eye. But I understand what they're trying to go for, Aversa's a seductive temptress so you really wanna push that flirty angle she has. Still a little funky to look at, but it looks like from future artwork we've seen that they've tried to go for more of a plausible pose, like with Sonya:

... Seriously IS, why didn't we get Duo Sonya/Aversa?! Aversa would have fit WAYYYY better than Tharja! Could you imagine? Sonya's 25, Aversa's thought to be like... 27 or 28 years old, so Aversa doting on Sonya like Marla or Hestia would could have made for a great interaction! Now I'm just bitter >:(

Anyways, PenekoR's one of my favorite artists. I'm sure to most people, it's hard to get past the nose thing, so they'd see PenekoR as a 7/10. But to me, they've constantly put out such amazing work that's so pleasing to look at, so I personally rank them a 9/10. They're another artist I'd love to see draw Shura when he gets in the game. Or a Priam alt if they get the chance.

Hermann Goring during WWI

These are some facts and curiosities about Hermann Goring in WWI:

During the first year of World War I, Göring served with his infantry regiment in the Mülhausen region, a garrison town only a mile from the French frontier.

His friend Bruno Loerzer convinced him to transfer to the Luftstreitkräfte ("air combat force") of the German army

After completing the pilot's training course, Göring was assigned to Jagdstaffel 5.

He soon became one of the most popular aviation aces, becoming part of the famous fighter squadron of Manfred von Richthofen (the legendary Red Baron), the Jagdstaffel 11 (Jasta 11), which then, together with the Jasta 4, 6 and 10, became part of the elite formation Jagdgeschwader 1, also known as the "flying circus".

On 7 July 1918, following the death of Wilhelm Reinhard, successor to Manfred von Richthofen, Göring was made commander of the famed "Flying Circus"

Because of his arrogance, he was not popular with the men of Jagdgeschwader 1.

In the last days of the war, Göring was repeatedly ordered to withdraw his squadron, first to Tellancourt airdrome, then to Darmstadt.

At one point he was ordered to surrender the aircraft to the Allies; he refused. Many of his pilots intentionally crash-landed their planes to keep them from falling into enemy hands

In addition to his Iron Crosses (1st and 2nd Class), he received the Zaehring Lion with swords, the Friedrich Order, the House Order of Hohenzollern with swords third class, and finally in May 1918, the coveted Pour le Mérite.

He finished the war with 22 victories.

~First of all, the meet cute is ADORABLE (doubly so bc it was the dog matchmaking for his owner). They are so sweet and cute together. Roger is a goofy musical man who waltzes his wife around and is very fond of his little family. Anita is a bit bland but she's also very supportive of her husband and plays along with his goofs and has fun with it! They're just really cute. ~Cutest Disney couple ! ~their dogs’ love is the focus of the movie but they’re really sweet too, especially the meet cute

This is the first time I cried while watching figure skating since Aljona and Bruno skated that legendary free skate that brought them Olympic gold (I don't cry often that's why). Deanna is an icon, a diva, a queen, a role model and an inspiration. She worked so hard for that medal and it finally paid off, she can be so proud of herself now. I love and worship her so much.

Formula 1: Report: Mick Schumacher could change racing series - Wolff comments

No more formula racing for the time being? According to a report, Mick Schumacher could switch to a French manufacturer's sports car program. That would also mean: He would probably start at Le Mans. According to a media report, Mick Schumacher could initially leave Formula 1 after this season. As the trade magazine Motorsport aktuell wrote, the 24-year-old son of record world champion Michael Schumacher could switch to the sports car program of Renault subsidiary Alpine in the coming season. Mick Schumacher would then compete, among other things, in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Manager Sabine Kehm did not want to comment on the speculation when asked by dpa. It is clear that the chances of returning to a regular Formula 1 cockpit are currently very low. Most of the places have already been taken. So... “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is a bop, right?

It’s firmly supplanted “Let It Go” as Disney’s latest ear-worm until the next one comes along but it’s more than just a catchy ballard. It spells out how the Family Madrigal view him as a blight on their family name, especially when they’ve been a pillar of their community.

It also describes how rather than dealing with his problem and maybe helping him through it, they opted to just let him retreat into his room never to be seen again. Better to sweep it under the rug. However, this also proves to be a root in while the house is coming undone.

The message is clear: a family can’t stay as one so long as they can’t talk about their problems with each other. It’s why Mirabel doesn’t get a gift so she can be the outsider looking in.

Where is this going? Well... somebody just finished Voltron: Legendary Defender... and enjoyed it.

Here me out before you scroll away.

I had finished up to Season 7 along with Teen Titans three days before Season 8 dropped. I knew that fandom discourse would be a bear and opted to let the season simmer before I viewed it for myself a few Watch Lists down the road.

What I couldn’t have known was this overwhelming hate for Season 8. I was on Twitter where handles were being altered to include #FuckVoltron and the like. I glimpsed spoilers of what happened in the finale without getting into the dirty details.

Thus I decided to put it off until the heat died down. A whole half decade at that. With Fandom Drama down to near non-existent, I decided to return and engage with Voltron on its own terms from the start. No shipping drama, no expectations for how it should go, no accusations of problematic behavior and no Purple Lion conspiracies.

And... I liked it. I highly encourage those scared off by the drama or felt Season 8 did it dirty to give it a(nother) shot. It deserves a full on renaissance the way Twilight got.

Why? (spoilers ahead).

I was sold on Allura and Lance’s relationship. I loved how he went from being a flirt to genuinely admiring Allura as a leader and Paladin, encouraging her in the season 4 finale without trying to get anything out of it.

I liked the tonal shift around Season 7 where the ultimate Golion homage is made with the Space Explorers coming home to a war ravaged Earth.

I liked how human Lotor and Honerva were as villains coming after Zarkon. I can see why there’s a whole ass conspiracy framed around him actually being in Season 8. Also them taking that “Your mother was an Altean bitch” like and running with it for Hagger was brilliant.

Keith becoming the Black Paladin after Kuron’s reveal was well done and felt weirdly natural in retrospect. He feels like he can’t measure up to Shiro and learns more discipline from

Allura sacrificing herself to restore all realities felt a lot better with the knowledge of spoilers. It helps that the ending went with a more noble feel than angsty, showing how the Paladins strove make sure that her actions set an example for years to come.

I love that they got creative with the multiple alien species and kept the Alteans from being just humans in space like in the original. It really took inspiration from Vehicle Voltron with more aliens in the mix.

Shiro the Hero, as Crazy Coran put it. What can I say except that he’s the kind of character you call a Mary Sue if he wasn’t a guy. Always calm, always perservering, putting the mission first and being a pillar the team can lean on. He even creates his own Voltron out of the Atlas

Honestly, the whole Adam thing isn’t something I fully blame the writers given the producers pushing back. Mind you, I feel like Keith would’ve made a good endgame pairing with him if they had even out their ages when they first meet, both as teenage proteges.

Studio Mir was amazing, especially with the space battles. Honestly, if Robotech managed to make a comeback, I could totally see them being tapped to match the classic Anime style.

So... yeah. Voltron good actually.
