Summary of the series - Y/n is Charles' best friend little sister. They grew up together but haven't seen each other's for years. Their relationship seems to take a different turn when Charles stay at her's and her brother's.

The party yesterday shit faced me. Less than the last time i guess, but i still had a pretty hard time waking up.

We got home late and i had maximum 4 hours of sleep. So yeah, this is fun.

I push the sheets away with very little motivation, and head to the bathroom.

I cross my reflection in the mirror, and huff. I wash my face and tie my hair trying to look more alive and less zombie like before opening my bedroom door.

I make my way to the kitchen, directly greeted by the sight of Charles looking all freshened up, ready to attack the day as if his night before has consisted in sipping an infusion and going to bed at 7pm with cucumbers slices on his pretty eyes and a waves song audio in the background.

I stop dead in my track, eyeing him up and down. He’s standing by the kitchen sink, filling his water bottle in a workout outfit. I don’t know if i should hate him or be inspired.

He smiles when he sees me entering the room, “hi love” I give him a quick hug before making my way to the fridge.

“Are you really going to work out this early ?” I ask him taking the apple juice bottle before turning back to him.

He look down at his watch laughing, “It’s ten”.

I sight “That’s what im saying, it’s too early to do any type of exercise.”

He close his water bottle and get closer to the counter where im standing “Well, i didn’t really trained since im here and all we do is eat and drink. Andrea is going to kill me. And even if im on holiday,” he says through quoted fingers “I still need to do work out and stuff, i don’t have time messing around.”

I chuckle, “Ok Tiana” He furrowed his eyes brows for a second before rolling his eyes. “Your reference are frightening” He snickers back.

I laugh, putting my hands under my chin in a “im proud of it” way before passing by him again “Well have fun, im going to go back to sleep.”

He quickly grab my wrist to spin me around. I look up, to him shocking his head, all smug. “Not so fast, you’re coming with me.”

I look down at his hand still securely wrapped up around my wrist, then back at him. “I think you’re mistaking, you enjoy tho” I free my hand from him and start making my way out, but once again he spins me around.

“Don’t let spinning people around become an habit, most people don’t like being manhandled you know.” I laugh. He shrug my comment “If you come with me i promise to give you a massage when we came back.” He says way too confidently.

I frown, i wasn’t quite ready for him to say something like that, but it’s not obvious enough for him caught up on it. “What ?” i say in disbelief, needing to hear it once again just to be sure that i got it right.

“If you run with me, i promise to give you a massage when we get home.” He repeats, still as confidently as before. Not a bit of doubt transpiring from his face.

It’s tempting, but im not sure having someone you’re attracted too, with their hands on you, caressing your skin is the best idea. But at the same time, who in their right minds would say no to a massage.

“Ok im coming” I say fastening my way to my bedroom to get ready. I hear him laugh as i close my bedroom door.

I feel like im going to faint, there’s no blood in my head anymore.

The sun is too bright, the air too hot and i don’t feel my legs anymore.

I come to a stop on the side walk. Immediately gripping my knees with my hands trying to steady myself and get my breathing back to normal.

I see Charles turn around, making his way back to me while laughing.

I so want to sweep his little smug expression out of his face right now.

“Are you trying to kill me ? Don’t laugh, im serious. Are trying to kill the shit out of me ?” I pants looking down, afraid that if I look up for too long I might puke.

“I can’t even breath anymore.” I state sitting down. Well actually more like dropping myself on the ground. My legs are not capable of holding me anymore.

“Don’t sit on the ground it’s dirty.” I hear Charles say as he’s already helping me up.

He put his arms around me and his lips to my ear “We’re good for today. You did not gave up, I’m proud of you" He compliment ms as we start walking back.

Before I know what im doing, my face broke into a big smile. “Im proud of you.”

“I don’t know how you do it.” I say in a giggle genuinely in disbelief. He laugh out, his hand flexing on my side.

“Force of habits i guess, but if it’s something you want to try, I could train you. I’ll be gentle I promise.

I look up, smiling tiredly at him. “We’re gonna see, I’ll think about it.”

Raphael was heading to work when we got home. Which means that he most likely won’t be home before at least 3pm.

I directly hoped in the shower. I’ve never felt so dirty in my entire life. Charles took Raphael’s bathroom so we could be as efficient as possible.

I got out first, so i started making some quick lunch. I bend down to get something from the frizzer when i hear the sound of Raphael door closing. I look up, just in time to catch a glance of Charles’ dripping muscular body. He’s only dressed in a white towel handing really low on his hips, low enough for me to see some hair stick out of the towel.

If i had no self respect i would be drooling right now.

I clear my throat and turn around, busying myself.

Charles came back in the kitchen. This time dressed. His hair are still kind of wet, but it’s gonna dry up pretty quickly anyways.

Imagine you wash your hair, it doesn’t even take you that much time, and then they dry alone and looking good. Life is unfair.

“What are we making ?” he ask smiling at me, waking me up of my daydreaming about pretty hair.

I show him the basilic in my hand “I was thinking making some pasta and homemade pesto. how does that sound ?”

He smile immediately making his way toward the cabinet to grab the pasta. “That sound perfect.”

So that’s what we did, it took us maybe 25 minutes, Charles cooked the pasta and i made the sauce.

He’s literally the worst sous chef i ever had, he’s so distracting and unserious. He spend his time joking around trying to tickle me. But ironically enough he is also so attentive and always asking if i need something.

Charles hand gaze my arm as he take the Parmesan on the wood board beside me. When i look up at him, I’m greeted with a shy smile before he quickly moves away.

Once he is done dressing the plate, he carry my plate to the dinning table. I tried to take it from him but he insisted.

He set the table when the pasta were cooking. And he even through of putting some extra cheese in a little bowl for me, knowing how much i like it.

He is pissing me off so much right now. He makes it super hard not to want him.

He takes a mouthful of pasta, his expression unreadable, before laughing out loud.

I giggle, “What’s up with you ?”

“Im so sorry. The pasta are still a bit uncocked” he let out. His shy smile back on his lips.

“Let’s see” I smile back and take a bite, surprised to find a slight crisp under my teeth.

l laugh, making Charles do the same “they are not al dente, they are croquante” he says, his shoulders deeping with how hard he’s laughing.

In reality, it wasn’t that bad and it was still really good.

We eat, while discussing about what our favorite types of music, artists and others stuff.

Since we got home, neither of us mentioned anything about the massage thingy. And I don’t want to be the one to bring it up. Plus, Im not hundred percent sure if it’s a good idea since you know…

We clean up everything, putting the extra food in a tupperware and doing the dishes. Not without Charles shaking his wet hands in my direction instead of drying them. He is a child.

“Are you ready for your massage appointment ?” he ask me with a grin already walking in direction of his room.

My eyes widen, thinking he had forgotten about that. I fasten my pace behind him “Oh Charles it’s ok really you don’t have too” i let out quickly.

He turns around shrugging me off “No, you run with me and you gave it all you could, you deserve it. Plus i promised.” He says opening his bedroom door.

“Stay here im going to go search for some towels” he let out before entering the bathroom next door. He comes back a second later with a big towel, a littler one and my bottle of body oil that was on the counter. “Is it ok if i use this ?” He ask, showing me the bottle.

“Sure” I say sending a smile his way. “Um, how are we going to do this exactly ?” I question looking around.

“Well i was thinking putting that right here…” He says installing the large towel flat on his bed.

"And I don’t know, I guess the easiest would be for you to put on a bathing suits and then put that," he show me the littler towel "on your bum so you have more coverage." he explained way too relaxed.

“I um, yeah im gonna go change.” I let him know quickly before exiting the room. What the fuck im i doing right now ?

I close my bedroom door and choose a swimsuit. One that is not too revealing but at the same time that show enough skin for him to be able to massage me comfortably. I make my way back to Charles’ room, feeling really little dressed. God this is so weird.

When i get in, Charles is sitting on the bed, his phone in hands. He looks up when he hears me. “You’re ready ?” He ask, getting up.

I nod, trying to play it cool, but in reality im pissing myself. I lay on my belly where the large towel is, and put the little one on my butt quickly.

Charles put some instrumental music on, before taking the oil bottle from the nightstand.

“Can i untie your top ? It will be easier to access if it’s off.”

“Um sure.” I say, trying to get comfortable and chase every inappropriate throughs going on and on in my head.

I feel his fingers gaze my skin and my top going lose. I breathe in, preparing myself for what’s to come.

His hands delicately starts to spread out the oil all around my back, getting really shy as he got closer to my lower back then quickly coming up.

It feels so good, but I almost want to laugh at how afraid he is to touch me. He’s brushing his fingertips against my skin as if i would crumble into pieces if he putted more forcefulness in his mouvements.

He starts gently massaging the skin around my spine with his thumbs, making some up and down mouvement, before putting his palms flat on my lower back and pushing them up with a little more energy.

I exhale out, not so quietly. It feels so relaxing i cannot.

He lets out a giggle “What ?” I ask, turning my face slightly on the bed so i can glance at him.

“Does it feels good ?” He whispers. I close my eyes readjusting my head on the mattress, and answer sleepily “So good.”

I love how this applies word to word to Ned and Lyanna, but in a way that subverts expectations. Woman's love: yes but platonic not romantic. Newborn son in arms: yes but he is actually a nephew. Brother's smile: no sister's.

I love the way you think. The quote expands far beyond the moment and echoes across past and future, for many characters.

You can paste it straight onto Ned, trace it painfully over Catelyn and Robb, sprinkle it among the Lannister siblings, lace it through Dany's braids, and return it wholesale to Jon and his own choices and longings.

Another thing that I love about this quote is how wrong Aemon is, and how you can turn this quote around on itself. He indicts love as the enemy of duty and honor, as a destroyer of these pure motivations, am inhibitor of effective necessary action.

But, say, what motivation is empty honor, compared to love? What motivation is cold duty compared to love?

Honor and duty are empty by themselves. And Jon shows us that you do not need them. His most powerful motivation is love, and it leaves him flexible, too, because it allows him to adjust to the necessities of the moment. Look at Ned, all his best decisions are always motivated by love, where blind adherence to honor or duty lead him astray.

Why I Love the Characters of The Bad Batch

(a lil fun post before the chaos increases)

Hi everyone! I've seen some people talk about why they love the characters of the Bad Batch before on here, and I felt like making my own post and discussing how each character from the show speaks to me and why I like them so much. I'll discuss a few characters that I find myself resonating with, and you all can sit back and just listen to me ramble. :)

Hunter

Being the oldest sibling of the Bad Batch and a man who is shorter than his brothers, I relate to Hunter a lot not just because I am the oldest sibling and 5 feet tall. Hunter does everything he can to keep his squad safe and cares for his brothers and sister, and he is often looked towards as the leader of the squad. Many people often come to me for advice. Hunter is a big comfort character for me (and so is the rest of the Batch), and he’s the character I connected with the most ever since the Batch were introduced.

Wrecker

One thing I absolutely love about Wrecker is his playfulness. He isn’t afraid to be himself around others, and it relates to how I show my personality and playfulness around others with ease (not fully though, my insecurity gets in the way haha). He had Lula with him most of the time for comfort, and I’m always sleeping while surrounded by many of my stuffed animals. He knows when it’s time to get serious, especially when things are being hard around him (such as Hunter being really depressed at the start of this season with Omega missing), and he’s there to help comfort others. I love how smart he is. Wrecker spoke to me by helping me understand that I don’t need to be perfect, I just need to be someone who makes me feel happy. I quote Wrecker, “Defective and effective!”

Tech

Tech is honestly me whenever I ramble to others about things. He loves to explain things to people and talk about things that he is really interested about and fascinated by, and it’s me whenever I am around people. His little speech in “The Crossing” was amazing, and I love him for opening up about his feelings slowly that way to Omega. He’s always got his nose buried in his datapad, researching things, and I’m always looking everywhere and reading information whenever something interests me. Tech is an amazing character and will always have a special place in my heart.

Echo

We hear Echo being called the mom of the Batch, and I am often called the mom of my friend group. Echo’s determination to fight for what he believes is right and wants to do makes him one of the characters that motivates me whenever I have things to get done and want to chase my goals and dreams that I have in my life. Echo cares for his brothers and sister, and he’s ready to fight for the right things. He’s also a soft sweetheart.

Crosshair

The main thing about Crosshair that I resonate with the most (especially this season) is his path of healing. Ever since that scene where Omega teaches him to meditate to help his shaking hand, I was breathing along with them. Since the beginning of this year, I set myself onto a slowly paced journey to heal from all that I went through last year. Watching Crosshair start to heal on his own just warmed my heart and had me following along with Omega’s meditation lesson so I could work on healing just like Crosshair was. Crosshair’s been through a lot of suffering with the previous seasons, and it’s time for him to start healing from all of that. Even though the show has a lot more pain for him in store likely T-T

Omega

Omega is such a little sweetheart, and watching her grow up over the seasons has been emotional for me. She was this little naive girl in Season 1, and she is still young, but she’s maturing really fast. With all of the things she’s been going through each season, it’s likely one of the reasons why. Omega’s been learning from her brothers and learning a lot about the galaxy she lives in, starting to expand on her knowledge and understanding the rights and wrongs of the world around her. I learned a lot of things at a young age and it’s part of how I started being seen as mature at a young age because of this, and there was a lot of things I went through at a young age that caused me to mature quickly. Omega still has her playful and optimistic nature inside of her, and I love that side of her.

Emerie

Yes, I even found myself resonating with Emerie at one point for good reason. The reason why I personally resonate with Emerie is because I see her naive side in me. I grew up being an obedient girl with my parents and mostly doing what they told me to do, and I often easily believed things that they told me. Emerie has grown up believing that the world around her isn’t safe and if she stays in one place and follows what she is told to do, then everything will be okay. I saw myself in her after realizing this, and Emerie has a lot to learn in the coming episodes.

With four episodes left, The Bad Batch has been such a great show and they will continue to be part of my long list of comfort characters. It’ll cause pain, but it’s still a great addition to my life, adding color, happiness, and sadness to my heart.

one of my best friends rts your account on twitter often and from what i have seen i have come to the conclusion Bun is somewhat of a Tartaglia analysis expert.

therefore i was wondering if you knew or had a guess about Tartaglia's loyalty to The Tsaritsa.

Do you think part of the reason Tartaglia is so loyal is because he believes it's what's best for his family, that the Tsarista does know best? or does he love the Tsaritsa & is loyal for a separate reason regardless of family? If Tartaglia had to make a choice to stay loyal to the Tsarista at the cost of his family getting hurt, do you think Tartaglia would make that choice? Is Tartaglia's family getting hurt worth making the Tsaritsa's vision come to fruition?

i understand if this is too heavy a question or if there simply not enough information to make a guess, just curious as to what Bun thinks as a fellow lover of Childe.

Thank you for asking! It's true that we don't have much solid information on this, but I'll do my best to answer your question based on the current info and my own personal interpretation.

Judging by what we've learned thus far, Childe's loyalty to the Tsaritsa is partially due to being granted a purpose.

There are three separate instances in which purpose/motivation is mentioned in regard to or by Childe, making it a recurring and significant theme for his character.

Childe's Collected Miscellany. In this video, Dainsleif says, "Since becoming a Fatui Harbinger, fighting for the Tsaritsa is his new motivation as a warrior." This statement raises the question of what his motivation had been prior to the Tsaritsa, or whether he even had a motivation at all. My personal theory is that he did not have one.

Labyrinth Warriors (Limited Event). "All those who stalk the battlefield yearn for meaning and value." This quote comes from Childe himself.

Childe's Act I Story Quest. The quote from this requires the full context, so I'll expand on this below.

In Childe's story quest, Teucer gets the opportunity to see Childe fight for the first time. After the fight, he says to Childe, "I wanna learn to fight too. I wanna be cool like you!" to which Childe responds, "...Fighting isn't about looking cool. You can only continue to get stronger if you know the reason why you're fighting. I can teach you. But think carefully, first. Why do you want to fight?"

Teucer briefly ponders Childe question. Soon, he replies, "I want to protect sister Tonia."

This dialogue between the two of them is crucial in understanding Childe's own individual purpose for fighting. Later in the quest, outside of the abandoned ruin guard factory, Childe references Teucer's response when speaking to Paimon, after she asks if he is concerned for his little brother's safety. His words are as follows:

"Of course I am...but no matter what the danger is, I will parry it. Isn't that what any older brother would do?" followed by, "Even Teucer understands that, now that he knows what he's fighting for...It's the very same reason that's been nestled in my own heart for so many years."

This means that, much like how Teucer concluded that he wished to protect Tonia, Childe wishes to protect their entire family.

According to the description of the Funerary Mask obtained from Signora, the Fatui's primary goal is to go against the Heavenly Principles, against Celestia. It reads, "...Only those who possess an obsession close to or exceeding the level of delusion might be willing to join this group that so rebels against the Heavenly Principles..."

This is to say that the Fatui possess a wealth of information and knowledge beyond the average citizen in Teyvat. They have knowledge about Khaenri'ah and Khaenri'ahn technology, the Abyss, Irminsul, the truth of the world—and Childe, a Fatui Harbinger with firsthand knowledge of the Abyss, who traveled deeper than any other living human being, is not exempt from this. He is aware of the stakes, and of the war they'll have to wage to defeat the Heavenly Principles. He knows what will happen if they lose.

With that being said, to sum it up, we can assume that his loyalty is in part due to 1) gratitude for being given a purpose and 2) to ensure a safer world and future for his younger siblings and the rest of his family.

As for whether Childe loves the Tsaritsa or not, that remains to be seen. Since the Tsaritsa is implied to be the god of love, this could serve as one of the numerous plot points for the future main archon quest of Snezhnaya in 2025. What does true love mean to a god, especially to the god of love herself?

The question also reminds me of a past discussion between myself and a good friend of mine, as to whether worship and love can be equated. Is love a result of worship, or vice versa? Is it possible to worship without love? Can it even be deemed worship without it? And how would these complexities influence Childe's path? How would this internal dilemma affect his relationship with his family? Who would he choose if it came down to that?

Personally I believe that, because Childe's devotion to his family is such an integral part of his character, it is unlikely for his loyalty to his god to surpass that, in the event that his family would come to harm. In fact, it is my personal belief that this is the one line that can never be crossed. It would be his tipping point. Not only are they an inextricable part of his life, but I have reason to suspect that their role goes even farther beyond what we've been shown or told. I believe that his responsibility to his family, as well as the love of his younger siblings, is the very thing that has allowed him to maintain his humanity.

(But this is already way too long. I cannot get into that. Lmao)

In Labyrinth Warriors, ran in version 2.2, we learn about Childe's sense of dehumanization—self-dehumanization, as it is self-imposed and reinforced by himself (though it was undoubtedly cultivated by the Fatui). The event's story contained strong parallels between Shiki Taishou—a shikigami in search of his master—and Childe. Both perceived themselves as weapons, and Shiki Taishou says an interesting line: "If I am able, I wish to retain the kindness in my heart until the very end. But a weapon cannot betray its master's will. If he was able to create me, then he is able to control me."

This evolves into a harrowing conflict when applied to the context of Childe's own individual story, especially with the addition of Xinyan's perspective on Shiki Taishou's dilemma.

"All you gotta do is find the thing that was most important and righteous to you."

In other words, my personal prediction for the course of Childe's journey as a character is this: Caught between multiple worlds, there will come a time when Childe is forced to make his own decision. Will he carry out the Tsaritsa's orders, or will he save his family from harm? Should a situation arise in which his family is in danger, I believe he will ultimately choose to protect them, even if it means going against the deity he loyally serves.

In a nation ruled by a god of love, a character choosing love above all else would be extremely impactful, a perfect fit for the narrative and a profound moment for Childe's own story and development. After all, I think that is the entire point of his character—someone who, against all odds, retains his kindness, even if he himself is not entirely aware of it.

Truer words could not be spoken when you're an adult trying to impart the sum of your experiences to someone younger, who hasn't undergone the same struggles, and lacks the context to tie their actions to a broader consequence. It's a Parenting 101 line.

Powder: "I only wanted to help... I only wanted to help..."

10,000 kudos to Mia Sinclair Jeness for capturing the gut-wrenching sound of a child whose world is literally collapsing in real-time as she comes to grips with what she's inadvertently done.

Mel: "But Kino says war is a failure of statecraft." (:c!)

It's just such an adorably childlike argument. Like - she so obviously looks up to her brother as much as her mother, and their contradictory worldviews are causing her hella cognitive dissonance. You can also tell Kino, like Mel, is a pacifist, but accepted as a 'true' Medarda because he weaponizes it in his sphere, much in the same way Mel learns to do.

Ambessa: "Mark me, child. If you want to survive in this world, you must learn to be both the Fox - and the Wolf."

Ambessa is paraphrasing text from Machiavelli's The Prince, and giving Mel advice on statesmanship, "One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves." She's not entirely wrong. There are certain spheres where this is deeply solid business advice. But it also runs counter to the nature of a sensitive, subtle, intellectually gifted girl like Mel...

Jayce: "Progress."

Silco: "Far be it for me to stand in the way."

Just - such a loaded exchange in what is already an interaction brimful with metatextual and symbolic meaning. Who gets to define progress? Who truly stands in the way? Who has caused more damage in its achievement - and whose cause is the purer?

Jinx on Silco: "Excise your doubts, Jinx... Be what they fear."

Silco would make a terrifying motivational speaker - but also this is terrible advice to give to a child suffering from trauma. It also shows how Silco's own methodology for addressing grief is to dive down and rip it to shreds rather than sit with it and let it breathe. Then again, in an environment like Zaun, he has little time to sit with anything - let alone something that makes him or his child vulnerable.

Vi: "I never meant to leave you."

Such fascinating - and heartbreaking - word-choice. Like Vi made the conscious decision to be parted from her sister - rather than being full-on chloroformed and dragged off by a grown man in the dead of night. What do you think of John and Isabella Knightley's marriage? To me they don't seem all that happy. John appears to always be in a bad mood and Isabella's hysterical outbursts whenever she believes someone in her family might not be well is irritating him (not that i can blame him). She loves him dearly but he never seems to be all that invested in the relationship himself. It just makes me wonder how they even got together.

I think their relationship is much stronger than it appears at first and we have to remember that Emma's opinion of John is really biased.

He was not a great favourite with his fair sister-in-law. Nothing wrong in him escaped her. She was quick in feeling the little injuries to Isabella, which Isabella never felt herself. Perhaps she might have passed over more had his manners been flattering to Isabella’s sister, but they were only those of a calmly kind brother and friend, without praise and without blindness; but hardly any degree of personal compliment could have made her regardless of that greatest fault of all in her eyes which he sometimes fell into, the want of respectful forbearance towards her father.

Notice, Emma doesn't like John because he, like George Knightley, doesn't compliment her. Also, unlike Mrs. Bennet, who does know her husband is cruel to her, Emma feels slights that Isabella does not. Those slights might well be his insistence that she has to stop worrying about his health. Either way, we know that Isabella dearly loves her husband and will not stay home because she can't bear being separated from him:

Mr. and Mrs. John Knightley were not detained long at Hartfield. The weather soon improved enough for those to move who must move; and Mr. Woodhouse having, as usual, tried to persuade his daughter to stay behind with all her children, was obliged to see the whole party set off, and return to his lamentations over the destiny of poor Isabella;—which poor Isabella, passing her life with those she doated on, full of their merits, blind to their faults, and always innocently busy, might have been a model of right feminine happiness.

The "poor Isabella" in this quote is clearly sarcastic, Isabella loves her life.

Now as for John, it's not immediately apparent, but he does love his wife back. The best example is here, where John is watching Mrs. Elton on a solo visit: "wanting only to observe enough for Isabella’s information". He's collecting gossip for his wife! That is the cutest and most romantic thing in the world. And then when Mr. Weston comes home after a long day and joins their party, John thinks:

Could he [Mr. Weston] by a touch of his finger have instantly taken back his wife, there would have been a motive; but his coming would probably prolong rather than break up the party. John Knightley looked at him with amazement, then shrugged his shoulders, and said, “I could not have believed it even of him.”

So the dynamic is this, John actually has a job, unlike most Austen characters, and he is devoted to both his job and his family. His idea of a good time is woking during the day and being with his family at night. It makes sense that he'd be a bit moody when he's on visits to Hartfield since it's messing up his normal routine.

Also, um... judging by the five babies, John is enjoying at least some of his time with Isabella ;)

Actions Speak Louder than Words - Loki × Wanda Maximoff

It all started with words.

Everywhere Wanda went Prince Loki would be there to greet her with a series of compliments most of them all quotes from Shakespeare. Soon those words appeared on paper as Wanda started receiving poems almost every night by the door of her room.

The Scarlet Witch did find it quite endearing and also quite amusing how the Prince will simply not give up. It also made her puzzled as well. There are many ladies out who would love to take his hand he had so many options yet his focus was on her. A Prince in love with a Witch? It sounded absurd. If there is one thing Wanda knew about Prince Loki is the fact he is a rebel at heart. As the youngest of the Odinson family Loki had less responsibilities and more time to do the things he loved. He had freedom and therefore liked to make decisions that would be seen as controversial but to him it was a progress, a way to modernize society.

Wanda admired him for that.

One evening Wanda decided to go for a walk it was a nice evening the sky is clear and there is a breeze in the air. She tilted her head back and felt the wind blow on her face causing her hair to fly out. This here felt like freedom to her. Little things like this made life more worthy of living and gave her the motivation and hope that someday their world will be saved.

Captain Carter will save them all.

"Great minds think alike." A voice suddenly said.

Wanda spins round her hands immediately glow red with power ready to attack.

"Miss Maximoff!" The voice shrieked.

It took a few seconds for Wanda to realize who it was. When she did her eyes widen and she quickly lowers her hand.

"Prince Loki." She does a curtsy her cheeks flushed with shame and embarrassment. "I apologize I thought you were..."

"An intruder? He gives her an amused look. "My brother?"

She huffed a laugh at that.

"Your brother?"

"You must have thoughts? To strike? He can at times be a nuisance. Impatient as well."

He gives her a knowing look Wanda knew what he meant. She did respect His Highness and will always remain loyal to him but sometimes he can be increasingly difficult. Since the Captain's arrival Thor has demanded for an update Wanda tried to reassure him but he wouldn't hear for it.

"Our world is falling apart!" Thor snapped at her. "We don't have time! You fail me Witch?"

She shook her head.

"Never."

His face darkens.

"You better succeed because your life depends on it."

"Yes your Highness."

"Such thoughts should not be expressed out loud my Prince." Wanda nodded.

"So you have thought about it?"

"Didn't say that my Prince. You know throwing accusations around is not wise you wish to see me in the dungeons?"

He raised an eyebrow at that.

"In chains? Completely at our mercy?"

There is a underlying meaning to that. His lips tug upwards into a smirk. His eyes shone with mischief.

Another blush forms on her cheeks.

"What brings you out here?" Wanda quickly changed the subject looking everywhere but him.

"Admiring the view." He looks up at the sky. "Such a fine night."

She agreed with him on that.

"I also come out here to think." He continued to nod. "The quiet it helps."

"How is that going for you? Your work?"

"Making progress." He then sighs. "I do wish they would show respect towards my work."

"Who?"

"My siblings." He again sighs. "My sister and brother I am not like them I will never be a warrior my interests differ from theirs. I love art, music, poetry, theater. They mock me for it my brother says I need to be a man not a weakling." He shakes his head. "It shouldn't bother me but it does. I support them but they do not return the favor."

He lowers his head at that. Wanda looks at him with sympathy. She has witnessed the other Royals' behavior there is always a boo or jeer from Prince Thor while Queen Hela dramatically yawns and rolls her eyes. Wanda always found them childish their younger brother is helping society in another way he is entertaining them through these dark times the Royals should encourage it not dismiss it.

The Scarlet Witch places her hand on his shoulder.

"I like your work."

He looks up at her with surprise.

"Your poems they are beautiful." Wanda continued with a smile. "I keep them stored somewhere safe and whenever I feel down I read your poems they always lift my spirits." She then shrugs. "My opinion may not mean much but..."

"Miss Maximoff." He gives her a serious look. "It means a lot coming from you."

Wanda takes a deep shaky breath.

His eyes shift on to where her hand remains on his shoulder. Realizing her mistake Wanda pulls her hand away. Loki reaches out and grabs her hand.

Wanda froze. Her eyes lock to his.

They stared at each other in silence.

Loki then slowly intertwined his fingers with hers.

Wanda takes another deep breath.

Loki closes the gap between them.

"My Prince." Wanda said her voice trembling the fear of getting caught starts to consume her. "We can't."

"Shh." He tucks a stray of hair behind her ear. "I do not care what they think. I only care about you Miss Maximoff. Lady witch." He smiles. "From the moment I set my eyes on you I knew you were the one for me. You are the Juliet to my Romeo. My glorious purpose."

Wanda already knew the Prince was interested in her but hearing his confession still made her heart soar.

"Such kind words my Prince." She smiled sheepishly.

"Well you have always been my inspiration." He grinned. "I think of you and the words come out my pages flow with the beauty of language. It is a sight I wish to share with you."

His other hand rests on her back. He leans forward and whispers in her ear.

"On a physical level that is." He added with a smirk.

Wanda tilts her head and smirks back at him.

"An invitation my Prince? For me?"

"If you want to." He assured her. "There's no pressure."

"I accept." She replied without hesitation her fears immediately washed away replaced with a feeling of excitement. "My Prince."

She goes to curtsy again but he stops her.

"Save that for my quarters my dear."

That was the moment words turned into actions.

The couple didn't waste time removing each other's layers. Wanda however decided to get more creative. She used her magic and the clothes ripped off the Prince's body. Loki looked up in wonder as the clothes hovered in the air before they dropped on the ground. He then looked at the Scarlet Witch and frowned.

"My Prince." Wanda said suddenly fearing she has done the wrong thing. "I apologize my excitement got the better of me there I promise there will be no more magic."

"Wanda." Loki said using her name for the first time.

Hearing him say her name caused a shiver to go down her spine.

He goes up and cups her face in his hands. He grins.

"Never hold back for anyone especially me in fact I want you to be free tonight! We shall explore these uncharted waters together as equals."

Equals?

"My Prince?"

"No need to be formal." He shakes his head. "Please drop the title my darling. Say my name."

"Loki." She said uncertain. He raises an eyebrow. "Loki." She repeated this time sounding more confident.

"Hmm." He hummed at that. "I am going to enjoy hearing my name from your mouth." He rubs his thumb over her lip. He sighs heavily. "Yes I will."

"I hope I do not let you down...My...Loki."

He again shakes his head.

"You will never let me down Wanda." He said the last part in a husky voice.

Wanda immediately found herself drawn to his lips. She leans forward and locks her lips with his. He responds and kisses her back. The kiss then deepened and became more passionate.

Wanda bites his lip causing him to moan. He then pushed his tongue in and rolled it along with hers.

Seconds later the couple pull apart needing to catch their breath.

"You still want me to curtsy your Highness?" Wanda asked with a smirk.

"You remembered." He goes in again and gently caressed her face. "Answer to your question yes. The sooner you please me the sooner I can repay you." He kissed her and runs his hand over her breasts. Wanda pressed herself against him but he shakes his head. "It seems fair hmm."

She sighs and smiles at him.

"Very well." Her hand moves to his balls. "I shall do just that." She then squeezes his ball causing him to gasp and groan. She has him backed against the wall her hand still fondling his balls. "Hmm."

She tilts her head. Her eyes spark red.

Loki could stare into her eyes all day.

"Like rubies." He muttered.

The eye contact breaks when Wanda goes down on her knees. She wraps her hand his length and slowly draws him into her mouth. The Scarlet Witch almost choked when his length hits the back of her throat. Once she regained her compose she started to suck him.

Loki throws his head back against the wall and squeezes his eyes shut as Wanda sucked his dick off. Her head bobs up and down and her tongue slides along him. He ordered her to pick up the pace.

Wanda obeyed.

She continued to suck him. Fast, hard and rough. She kept going until the Prince reached his climax. Loki let out a cry as he spilled himself inside her. Another gasp escapes him as he pulls himself out. Wanda looks up at him. She swallows the cum and grins.

He abruptly pulls out of her before going in again. Wanda wraps her arms around his neck and holds him tight as he started to thrust her with his fingers.

Wanda hitched her leg up on to his waist and buried her face in his neck as he stuck another finger inside her.

"Oh!" She grits her teeth. "Oh!"

Her moans encouraged him to go faster. Soon the couple found themselves on the bed. Loki resumed the thrusting pumping her harshly and enjoying the sweet sounds that came spilling from her lips.

After a few more thrusts Loki pulls his fingers out.

"Loki!" Wanda said frustration in her voice.

He responds with a grin.

"You called?" He asked in a teasing tone.

Loki kissed her with such tenderness. He takes his time and admires this woman he believes is a work of art. The words formed on the tip of his tongue he had so much praise for her but they are past that phase now and as they say actions speak louder than words.

He sucks on her nipples, bites down on her flesh, licks her burning hot skin. Each stroke from his tongue sent a shiver through the Scarlet Witch.

He lifts her up enough to give her a slap on the ass. Wanda again laughed wanting to push him further. Loki grips her ass tight, his cock is buried deep inside her now.

He gives her a mighty thrust and covers her mouth to stop her from crying out. He kept going and chuckled at the muffled sounds from behind her hand.

Soon the Scarlet Witch fought back. Her hands glow and she pushes the Prince back. She didn't push too hard just enough to put him in his place, remind him of his promise to please her.

Loki's hands end up behind his back. He tried to move them but he couldn't. He gives her an amused look.

"You?"

"Your hands are tied my Prince." She grinned.

"Powerful and wicked." He huffed an laugh. "I knew you were the right one. Such a character."

She waved her hands again.

Loki felt something push him from behind. He flies forward his lips ending up on hers. She kissed him then said.

"A rebel that's what you are. One of the things I always admired about you."

He grinned at the compliment.

"Thank you."

With one more kiss Loki continued to thrust her until they both reached their climax.

"Wanda!" He growled as he took her hand. "I want to do this with you...this...together...us...this act of love."

"I want...I want do that as well." She replied between pants.

She increased her grip on his hand.

"I want to see your reaction." Loki added his eyes going wide. He is close. He needed to let it out.

Wanda sensed this and quickly nodded.

"Keep your eyes on me." She said.

He managed to muster up a smile.

"I wouldn't look anywhere else."

A shudder coursed through them. Seconds later the couple cry out as they let it all out. Once it was released Loki pulls himself out and takes a deep breath. Wanda's legs collapse on to the bed. She trembled as she slowly came down from her high. Loki lies down next to her and pulls the covers over them. He then takes the Scarlet Witch in his arms and holds her.

He kisses her head and runs his fingers through her hair. He loved her hair. Wanda lies on his chest and closes her eyes savoring this moment wanting it to last forever. They sat like this for a while in silence. Minutes later Loki breaks the silence.

"I know no ways to mince it in love, but directly to say, I love you."

Wanda lifts her head up. Loki looks down at her with such warmth it made her heart flutter.

"King Henry V." She said recognizing the famous Shakespeare quote. She also then realized that behind that quote is a confession. A love confession. Prince Loki has officially come out and said he is in love with her.

"I love you."

Hearing that confession said out loud caused a stir of emotions to rise inside the Scarlet Witch.

Wanda frowns. Loki suddenly became worried.

"I hope I haven't scared you away it's just I have felt this way about you for a long time and tonight it felt right to tell you how I feel about you." He lifts her hand and rubs his thumb along it. "Miss Wanda Maximoff will you accept my hand?"

Wanda looks down at their hands. She then looks back up at him.

A big beaming smile spreads across her face.

"I accept."

His face lit up at that.

"Wonderful!"

He takes her other hand and kisses it.

"Wanda my love you have made this man very happy."

"You have made me happy." She nodded. Her smile turning into a full blown grin. "But my Prince I have to ask why me? There are others who would wish to take your hand? I am a simply only a Witch..."

Loki raises his hand making her pause.

"Do not ask such ridiculous questions." He repeated her words back at her.

Wanda laughed.

"If you say so."

Loki kisses her neck.

"I do love nothing in the world so well as you." He breathed a sigh. "Goddess, nymph, perfect, divine!"

Wanda huffed a amused smile.

This man really does love Shakespeare the quotes are never-ending but Wanda didn't mind she could listen to this man talk all day

"You have witchcraft in your lips."

Wanda arched an eyebrow at that quote.

"I do?" She asked with a smirk.

He brings her forward his eyes lingering on her lips.

"I want more of it." He added.

Wanda nods.

"And you shall." She replied.

Soon the couple made love again. Their hearts are full and their belief is stronger than ever.

Captain Carter will save them all.

And they will live on for another day.

Hello, thank you for your previous answers. I've got another one for you. Are there any reasons (Doyalist or Watsonian) that Oberyn only has (or claims?) daughters?

Number one, this detail underlines some of Dorne's unique cultural qualities compared to the rest of (continental) Westeros. In Dorne, as Maester Yandel writes, "[t]hey [i.e. Dornish people] are not greatly concerned if a child is born in wedlock or out of it, especially if the child is born to a paramour". Likewise, Dorne is a land of (mostly) equal primogeniture, where Princess Nymeria is a revered foundational figure and (again, to quote Yandel) "[g]reat ladies and famous princesses abound, and are the subject of songs and tales as much as the great knights and princes". Oberyn's daughters were never considered the heirs to Sunspear, of course, but their existence as specifically female bastards who are nevertheless publicly acknowledged and raised by their highborn father reflects these aspects of their native culture. Indeed, when Obara's (nameless!) mother attempted to use Obara's gender in part to dissuade Oberyn from taking their daughter, Oberyn refuted the suggestion that as a mere girl she would not be wanted, declaring that "[g]irl or boy, we fight our battles ... but the gods let us choose our weapons" and confirming his paternal ownership of Obara through the latter's choice.

Number two, and related to that first point, it emphasizes Oberyn's own exotic strangeness, especially as he is first introduced through Tyrion's eyes while the latter was welcoming him to King's Landing. Oberyn's reputation did not just proceed him, it portrayed him as, to borrow a turn of phrase, mad, bad, and dangerous to know, someone who defied convention and thrived on blood and scandal. For a man who had supposedly murdered Lord Yronwood with a poisoned sword, "learn[ed] the poisoner’s trade and perhaps arts darker still, "soldiered in the Disputed Lands across the narrow sea", "bedded men and women both" and "crippled the heir to Highgarden”, fathering and raising exclusively female bastards might seem simply another aspect of Oberyn's unorthodox life and personality (again, especially in the view of non-Dornish Westerosi). Where for Tyrion, the note that Oberyn had fathered no sons is an intriguing detail amid the rest of that unusual life, and where elsewhere in Westeros such a fact might be taken as a slur on one's masculine virility (compare, say, the sniping comment made by Tytos Blackwood against Jonos Bracken, that Jaime would have to take one of Bracken's daughters as a hostage because "[f]or all his [i.e. Bracken's] rutting, he has not proved man enough to father sons"), for Oberyn there is no shame in the gender of his offspring.

Number three, it characterizes Oberyn as a man who genuinely cares about his female relations - an extremely relevant point when considering Oberyn's larger personal and political motivations. Oberyn makes no secret of the fact that he still vehemently blames the Lannisters for the murder of his beloved sister, and that he seeks vengeance for those murders. Oberyn is most certainly not the man to abandon the memory of the sister he loved, any more than he is to leave his daughters as unacknowledged bastards (which, again, as a highborn Westerosi male he might have been well within social expectations to do). These girls and women are as close and important to him as his brother or, more to the point, any son he might have had. (Indeed, Oberyn himself strengthened this familial connection by naming his eldest daughter by Ellaria "Elia", explicitly after the sister to whom he was so close.)

Number four, it provides a contrast between Arianne Martell and her cousins in their respective positions. The Sand Snakes may be bastard born, but they are publicly acknowledged as both the daughters and, for lack of a better term, spiritual successors of their father: Oberyn took them from (at least some of) their mothers, he raised them as his own, and he gave them the tools to live the sort of independent life he enjoyed. They were given paternal acknowledgment, trust, and the freedom to make their own decisions (especially in their choice of husband, at least theoretically since none have actually wed). Arianne, by contrast, might be the legitimately born daughter and heiress of the Prince of Dorne, but she believes (and not entirely unjustifiably) that Doran did not want her as his heir (and specifically that he was disappointed in her gender), does not trust her with any but the most superfluous tasks in that position, and would marry her against her will to the first available non-threatening aristocrat, the better to remove her from the succession. That the Sand Snakes are exclusively female assists in this direct comparison: Arianne can see young women of an age with herself and consider how she believes she has been treated by her Martell princely father compared to how they have been treated by a father of nearly equal dynastic standing.

Thoughts on Fingon

A/N: I've had so many thoughts about his character for the longest time and thanks to a friend for giving me a boost, I feel a bit more confident releasing my interpretation of his character. Some may appear repetitive, but eh. Please, these are my headcanons, you don't have to agree. If you don't, refrain from negative commentary. Thank you :)

‘Wise he was and skilled in voice and hand’, this part of Fingon’s description I noticed, tends to get overlooked a lot when characterising and building his persona.

He is a wise person, and may not have been the wisest like his fellow cousins or skilled in advanced magic like them, but Fingon was able to hold his ground when it came to academics and warfare. He wasn't all about athletic and lack wisdom and knowledge, he had brains (didn't use them rightly all the time lol).

Athletics was not the only aspect of Fingon’s life that he was skilled in, he was also articulate in academics. As the son of a prince, he would have outstanding scholars teaching him all topics throughout his adolescence.

Participating in court from a young age as he attended sessions with his father and engaging in small debates when he could. He was not the best or the most eloquent when it came to more advanced topics, but he was wise enough when challenging his opponents.

It wouldn’t be until his younger brother Turgon became of age and began attending court alongside him, he would take a step back to allow his brother to shine and show off his knowledge and enthusiasm. Fingon did become a little jealous of the trail of attention falling onto his brother more than him when he began showing more interest in politics.

But he did enjoy partaking in court, just not to the extent as his other family members.

Sports for him was a getaway/stress-reliever activity that he grew to enjoy and developed professionalism in certain areas. He excels well in horseback riding, ice skating (I like to believe Valinor had ice skating), archery, wrestling and other track and field events.

When it came to being skilled in hand in the warfare aspect, he was an extraordinarily proficient swordsman (he would have aided in training Maedhros after his recovery after all). Among his cousins, he would have ranked fourth (4th) or fifth (5th).

Following up with the previously mentioned quote, he was also his father’s commander during their time in Beleriand. As a commander, who later became the High King, he was somewhat of a strategist which leads to being a manipulator. Being skilled in hand and voice, especially the latter is primarily the reason why he can be charismatic and charming when he spoke to people.

Being able to easily influence persons to allow him to have his way (not in a conniving manner which he can do). He mostly used his voice to speak inspiration and strength into the hearts of people, lifting their spirits (a motivational speaker).

Then too, he may not of had the most political involvement in Beleriand or been the most outstanding commander under his father’s rule, but he was fairly decent even as a High King and wise. Being able to give orders on his own, plan and not always needing to rely on others.

He isn’t always the cheery, go-to sunshine prince charming or merry glittery prince, Fingon can also be a quiet and observant person who prefers to bask in his little world of troubles and be angst. Giving emotional support to others while humbly expressing his misery and trauma.

As much as he enjoys putting on the ‘people’s supportive and serotonin prince’ façade, there are days when he can barely hold himself together. He would quietly walk through the streets of Hithlum, mourning the loss of his brother, sister-in-law and other fallen comrades or find himself crying in the rain.

Furthermore, let's not forget that he was also a kinslayer. It may not be engraved into his blood or mind the way it would be for the Feanorians (allowing for murder to be a primary threat), but it does float around his conscience.

As much as he has regrettably apologised to himself and to his cousins, and viewed as one of the calmest of the kinslayers, he is still considered unpredictable. Being a friendly charming radiant prince still isn't enough for many, including himself, to forget what he is capable of.

//Alright, first off, does this Joss my theory about Arei and J switching places? Nope, I’m still convinced

//In fact, I’m even more convinced than I was last week, but for that, I wanna take you on a deep dive through everything that’s happened

(Just a heads up, this involves discussions about suicide, self-harm, eating disorders and murder)

//First of all, let’s address the elephant in the room here: everyone’s secrets. MonoTV arranged them by order of who received them, not whose they are:

Arei: 'You're a murderer, and you hold no remorse.'

Whit: 'You exist to manipulate others. Everyone else exist to be taken advantage of.'

Nico: 'Your body is falling apart, but you'll still refuse to eat.'

Charles: 'Ever since you kissed her, you were afraid your sexuality would ruin your friendships.'

Arturo: 'You hide your name and birthright to pretend that you aren't the daughter of Mariabella Rosales.'

Levi: 'Blackmail, rumors, lying, stealing, slander. You did everything you could to ruin your sisters' lives.'

David: 'How could I even select what secret to be your motive? Just about everything you've done in your life is worth killing for. The killing game is all your fault.'

//There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s go one by one with what we know, and we can extrapolate who the rest are.

//Easy ones: J is the daughter of Mariabella Rosales, Nico is Nonbinary and was mocked for it, Rose accidentally buried her family under a mountain of debt, Charles’ brother is dead and Arei got her sisters sent to reform school through all those tactics. We can also assume that, because they’re not around, Xander’s and Min’s secrets were flipped

//That’s already seven down. Now we can eliminate the obvious ones:

//To me, along with my previous theories about Ace attempting to hang himself, leads me to believe his is that he’s already attempted suicide three times. Which...really puts a new perspective on his not wanting to be the butt monkey

//The fact that Whit seems to think very highly of his mother, dyed his hair to look like hers, and has this weirdly cavalier attitude toward death leads me to believe that his mother is actually dead. The fact that he always omits the truth makes me think he’s also really broken up by it all

//This, plus Levi’s scene with Eden at the start of this chapter, lead me to believe that he’s the one whose sister committed suicide. Likely because he cut ties with them and left her with, as he described, a horribly toxic family.

//That leaves us with the final four. But for a summary, here’s how all the motives we know and I’m sure of should’ve been arranged:

Arei: Blackmail, rumors, lying, stealing, slander. You did everything you could to ruin your sisters' lives.

Whit: Your mother is dead. You always omit the truth.

Nico: No one accepted you because of your identity. You were constantly mocked by your family, your peers, and everyone else.

Charles: Your older brother died, but you don't remember him at all.

Levi: Your younger sister killed herself because of you. You should have never left.

Xander: You're constantly blaming yourself for the death of your parents and siblings. It doesn't matter that it's not your fault, just that you didn't go with them.

Min: You always treated the competition with ruthlessness, but poisoning them to win was a bit too far, wasn't it?

Rose: You took on your talent to earn money for your family. But you've since put them in a lifetime of debt.

J: You hide your name and birthright to pretend that you aren't the daughter of Mariabella Rosales.

Teruko: How could I even select what secret to be your motive? Just about everything you've done in your life is worth killing for. The killing game is all your fault.

Ace: You were quite the hopeless child. Dying once wasn't enough, so you attempted suicide three times.

//That leaves just four secrets and four people to assign to them: David, Arturo, Hu and Eden. Our options are that these four are made up of a murderer, a manipulator, a closeted lesbian/bisexual and someone with an eating disorder/degenerative disease

//Let’s get the obvious out of the way first: whoever’s in the closet has to be a girl, given the phrasing. I’m gonna say it’s most likely Hu, given how quick she was to come to Nico’s defense and how she wanted it revealed as late as possible. I was worried she might be the murderer, but her hidden quote makes that unlikely:

//It was specified the murderer has no remorse. This is a clear demonstration of remorse, and likely for something else entirely.

//Maybe Eden is the killer or manipulator? To which I say, that’s ridiculous. Eden’s role in the story has been as the beacon of hope through all this, and was the one to move Teruko’s heart with her speech about optimism. Her being the killer would be surprising, sure, but would it actually be good writing? I don’t think so.

//Yes, it’s possible that she’s the manipulator, but I can’t see that simply because this chapter is very clearly leaning on the fact that Teruko’s inability to trust people is going to be a hindrance more than an advantage. Having the one person who’s always tried to befriend her be a liar and manipulator just feels wrong from a writing perspective.

//Instead, because she once said she spends over half a day working on clocks, I think it’s more likely that she’s the one who has the disorder/disease. Her body is falling apart on some level, and it might explain why she’s so short.

//One of the symptoms of chronic malnutrition is stunted growth. It also wouldn’t fit Hu, given that she’s pretty shapely. True, body mass doesn’t always equate with physical health, but the fact that it specifies “your body is falling apart” suggests that it’s someone smaller and thinner.

//So that leaves our last two: David and Arturo, and odds are that one’s a murder and one’s a manipulator. And at last, I can return to my theory about Arei and J.

//Yeah, no wonder she looks so horrified

//But here’s a the thing: Arturo and David are both good candidates either of these secrets. Their quotes don’t make it exceptionally clear either.

//Both of these are good candidates if you wanna look at them, and if you analyze their talent and behavior throughout these chapters, it could go either way.

//Arturo could be a murderer who killed ugly people, making him literally Dr. Steinman from Bioshock, or he could be a con artist who scams celebrities, hence why he only operates on them.

//Likewise, David could use his status as an inspirational speaker to either manipulate the hell out of people (which he’s done throughout this chapter) or he’s covering up the fact that he killed someone. Either way, the irony is that Xander’s idol is exactly the kind of person he’d take a stand against.

//But more to the point, no matter who it is, Arei knows who they are, since everyone’s names are on the motive secret letters. Arei went into the playground meeting with David knowing he’s either a liar or a murderer.

//Why is that relevant? Well, now that we can take a closer look at the body, consider this interesting detail that @tophats-tea was kind enough to point out in their own theory.

//This is Arei’s hair normally, from the start of the chapter. Notice how it comes to a stop halfway down her neck?

//Take a look at her hair in the victim reveal:

//Her hair hasn’t come undone, you can still see the braid on the other side. Even if it was, the hair on the right side still hands freely, and you can clearly see it comes down much further, even past her shoulders

//There were only four days between the motive reveal and the BDA. Nobody’s hair grows that fast. Not to mention there was no attention brought to this fact, nor to her face. The only details anyone specified were that her neck was broken and that her wrists had irritation marks on them from some kind of binding.

//And who was the only people who really examined the body in detail? Teruko, who we’ve learned may have prosopagnosia, and Arturo, one of our two potential murderers. That’s it. Nobody else looked closely at her face, just that they were looking for specific death details.

//And that brings me to J, who had some prominence in this episode as well. She was selected as one of the guards to make sure nobody tampers with evidence, and then she had these questions for Teruko.

//These are funny and all, but they’re colorful enough that I’d actually expect them from Arei instead of J.

//It’s curious too, because one could say that it was only possible that J could’ve known that Teruko pulled a knife on her, unless she told Arei or she heard that Teruko did the same with Charles. Either way, that news would get around.

//And for the record, take a look at J’s hair

//It’s so short that it seems easy to hide under a wig that long. Arturo and Teruko wouldn’t have thought to check under it, hence why they likely didn’t notice.

//There was also the interesting detail that J was the one who asked when it was the last time everyone saw Arei, and they all say it was at noon yesterday. But at no point does she specify if she saw her anywhere or not. Everyone glossed over that detail.

//And of course, if my theory is correct, that means Arei approached J knowing either the plastic surgeon that’s been hounding J or the person she just traumadumped to is actually a murderer, which suggests two possibilities:

//Either Arei was the one who offered to switch places with J to try and protect her, or J was the one who suggested it to Arei. And I’m starting to suspect it might be the latter.

//Because consider this: if Arturo were the murderer, why would he target Arei? While Arei likes J, I don’t know if I can consider them close enough for him to actually, for example, feel threatened by her presence.

//But David? He’s actually got a damn good reason to try and target Arei, having made up his secret about depression and was the one who encouraged her to be a kinder person. Which, if this is true, suggests that Arei knew he was full of shit and as a murder, or she saw right through him as a manipulator.

//While I still think what she said about her sister and Eden were all genuine, this is also Arei we’re talking about; a girl who’s motive was about lies and manipulation.

//And that suggests David was planning to target her, but instead, he captured and killed someone who was dressed as her.

//The other key player in all this is Eden, the person who apparently made up with Arei off screen, and was happy to elaborate, but Teruko didn’t care. And throughout these last few episodes, it seems like Eden has been trying to work with Teruko, maybe get her alone for just a couple minutes to talk, but Teruko’s blown her off every time

//You know what I think? Arei clued Eden on who the murder is, and she’s trying to let Teruko know. Why do I think that? Because of Arei’s quotes, both public and hidden:

//These two quotes have been at the forefront of all these theories, and with every episode, they feel more and more relevant.

//Not to mention, and this from a Doylist perspective, but the fact that Arei’s only really had two big scenes so far this chapter. She strangled MonoTV with the rope, she had that big emotional episode in the playground...and then she was basically off-screen until she died. That feels like a waste to me; even Hibiki got more development than that, and anyone who’s followed me for a while will know how much I hated how dirty she was done.

//I’m not simply wishing for Arei to be alive because I like her as a character. I’m saying it because she received so much narrative emphasis and there’s so much going on involving her this chapter that it feels like a waste for her just to be dead. Not unless they’re gearing up to a big reveal

//And with how things are seeming to play out, my initial theory that Arei wanted to protect J might actually be that J wanted to protect her instead.

//The final detail I want to discuss for this is the note Rose and Teruko found in the trash.

//The only details I could really get out of this were “friend” “than ever” and “7:30.″ A meeting definitely went on at some point, and odds are it involved Arei and either J or Eden.

//Rather than discrediting my theory, this episode has actually given me more ammo to suggest this is actually the reveal we’re gearing up toward. And I for one am excited.

Review:

I really enjoyed reading this!! Loved how atmospheric the book is, and how easy it is to imagine not only characters, but also the background. The only con is that the chapters are too long for me, and that made it difficult to find motivation for reading.

Despair Time Ch2 Motive Analysis

CW: Incredibly dark subject material– lots of death, murder, and suicide/self harm. Implied/mentioned homophobia, transphobia, and eating disorders. Major spoilers through Part 1 of Despair Time Chapter 2. Also it’s long.

Secrets, secrets, secrets! As soon as MonoTV revealed the secrets of Despair Time’s student body to us without telling us whose was whose, I started making plans to write a theory about who their true owners could be. And then the first part of the trial revealed way more than I thought it would. But, no matter! The trial isn’t over yet, and even if/when it is finished, I doubt they’ll spill all of the answers immediately.

In terms of gathering our truth bullets for this case, I saw some bonus material in the comments section of Chapter 2 Episode 8 that I think will give us a lot to work with. In case you weren’t aware, apparently if you go to the cast introductions of Despair Time’s Tumblr page, you can find a hidden quote on each of the characters’ profiles. You can read them all now if you wish, but I’ll make sure to write out the relevant ones when I talk about them later.

Notably, Min and Arei have both canonically said their quotes aloud within the duration of the story, while Xander has not. Does this perhaps indicate that he’ll say it later in a flashback or something? Will other characters say their quotes out loud in the future? Maybe, maybe not. That’s not super relevant to the discussion at hand.

So, let’s start by clearing the secrets that have been confirmed true by their (relatively) trustworthy owners.

“You took on your talent to earn money for your family. But you’ve since put them in a lifetime of debt.” We saw that this is the secret that Teruko received, and that it had Rose’s name on it. Rose later confirmed that this secret was true with detail, so this is definitely Rose’s secret.

“You hide your name and birthright to pretend that you aren’t the daughter of Mariabella Rosales.” Arturo openly revealed that this was J’s secret, and while she was upset, she didn’t deny it. This is definitely J’s secret.

“Blackmail, rumors, lying, stealing, slander. You did everything you could to ruin your sisters’ lives.” Arei outright confirmed that this was her secret to David and Teruko. Levi, the secret’s holder, backed that fact up during the Class Trial. This is definitely Arei’s secret.

“No one accepted you because of your identity. You were constantly mocked by your family, your peers, and everybody else.” Ace exposed this as Nico’s secret, and while, like J, they were upset at it being spread, they didn’t deny that it was theirs. Given that Nico has now come out with their identity, this is definitely Nico’s secret.

With those four obvious ones out of the way, let’s clear a couple more that I think have been attributed correctly.

“Your older brother died, but you don’t remember him at all.” Although J revealed this as Charles’ secret, he didn’t confirm that it was correct. However, the whole point of this secret is that Charles didn’t remember that it happened, and his later dialogue makes it seem like he’s started to remember that this is in fact, true. It’s not 100% guaranteed, but I’m almost certain this is Charles’ secret.

“Your younger sister killed herself because of you. You never should have left.” Knowing that the owner of this secret was an alive male, J deduced that this was Arturo’s secret, and Eden was eventually forced to back her up. While I still have some reserves about this secret, given that Arturo continues trying to deny that it’s his, it’s Eden’s story that really seals the deal for me. If this was not Arturo’s secret, Eden would have needed to fabricate the entire scene between her, Arturo, and Arei seemingly out of nowhere, and it would have to just happen to line up perfectly with the existence of the ripped note. If this was not Arturo’s secret, Eden would have to be pulling off a masterful lie for questionable gain, which seems implausible. Plus, Arturo lied about having a younger sister in the Trial, which implies he had something to hide. His quote, “You hated them, but even that doesn’t justify what you did,” fits this secret decently as well. Pretty sure this is Arturo’s.

“Your body is falling apart, but you’ll still refuse to eat.” Veronika guessed that this was Ace’s secret, and based on his reaction, it really seems like that would be the case. Nico also essentially confirming that it’s Ace’s is just another cherry on top. However, given that Ace didn’t verbally confirm it himself, I put it down here. I think it’s correct, though.

“Your mother is dead. You always omit that truth.” This is a unique one for this category because Whit actually did confirm that this one was his. It’s Rose’s actions that make this more uncertain, given that she never read the secret and therefore doesn’t know who it belonged to. Compared to other secrets, this one is pretty tame, so it’s possible that Whit could be taking advantage of Rose’s forgetfulness to claim this secret as his own. However, because nobody else claimed this secret, that means that he would have to know with enough certainty ahead of time that it belonged to Xander or Min (or theoretically Arei) that he could avoid someone else calling him out. His hidden quote, “We tend to idolize the dead,” also fits this secret, given that he’s spoken highly of his mother before. It’s probably Whit’s, but I wanted to examine all avenues.

“You exist to manipulate others. Everyone else exists to be taken advantage of.” Both Ace and Arei (if Ace is to be believed) called David out for being the owner of this secret, and Whit, via Charles, was eventually forced to admit that it was true. David’s own behavior after this secret was revealed also demonstrates the likelihood that this is true. However, we now know that David lies constantly. He could be rolling with the narrative that this is his secret because he believes it’s not worth it to fight back and reveal something potentially worse. Despite belonging to someone else in this scenario, I think that this secret would just happen to match up with David’s worldview as well, to the point of basically being two people’s secret. However, that would mean that Ace (and theoretically Arei) would have to be wrong, and that Whit, who claims to be a bad liar, would have to be lying. I think this is probably David’s, but if some plot twist occurs in Trial 2 Part 2, don’t say I didn’t see it coming.

“Ever since you kissed her, you were afraid your sexuality would ruin your friendships.” Charles claimed that this was Eden’s secret. While I don’t think she ever confirmed it, I personally trust that Charles is telling the truth (what motive does he have to not), so I think this is probably correct. Eden appears to care a lot about friendship, so this fits with her personality. “You can’t go back, no matter how hard you try,” Eden’s hidden quote, also feels applicable. However, for all the mastermind Eden truthers out there (I think there are a good number of you?), I think that this secret could easily be something that is true, but is also a soft ball compared to what could be said about her.

And, there we go! With ten secrets more or less confirmed, we’re left with six secrets to truly theorize about, and six students left to have them: Teruko, Xander, Hu, Levi, Min, and Veronika.

But, wait a minute! you realize. Wasn’t Xander’s secret already confirmed to be “How could I even select what secret to make your motive? Just about everything you’ve done in your life is worth killing for. The killing game is all your fault”? Well, here’s the thing. The only one who claimed that this secret was Xander’s was David. And, as previously established, David is a massive liar. Although he didn't say it, I get the sense from David’s behavior that he was trying to figure out where each secret lay before and during the trial, so that he could theoretically claim a different secret than was his and maintain his career. That’s why he asked to go last: so that he could have as much information as possible before making a bluff. In doing so, I think he may have claimed that this secret was Xander’s because Xander wasn’t there to tell the others that David was lying.

The way David said it, and especially the way that none of the other characters took the time to react to this information, make me believe that it was a lie. It’s like how they didn’t spend any time having Teruko and Eden dwell on Ace’s life and their relationships with him when they found him in the gym, because Ace wasn’t actually dead. If David really essentially revealed Xander as the mastermind in the middle of the Trial and that information was actually true, wouldn’t you have been curious how Teruko would react? I feel like they intentionally played softball with that “reveal” because it wasn’t true.

Additionally, I have my suspicions that another secret better fits Xander’s character. Namely, “You’re constantly blaming yourself for the death of your parents and siblings. It doesn’t matter that it’s not your fault, just that you didn’t go with them.” Via the story told in Bonus Episode 2 - Visiting Graves, we can gather that Xander’s family (which canonically includes parents and siblings) died due to some sort of disease outbreak while he was studying abroad. Thus, while saying that he “didn’t go with them” is sort of a strange way to phrase it, that part of the secret could be saying that Xander didn’t go back to Chariton to be with his family when they died. Or, it could be shaming him for not “going with them” to the afterlife. That would certainly fit in with Xander’s hidden quote, which is literally the definition of survivor’s guilt: “Survivor guilt (n): feelings of guilt for having survived a catastrophe in which others died.”

While I strongly suspect that this is Xander’s secret and that David was lying, I obviously can’t be certain that that’s true. It could be Teruko’s secret, given that we know that she has a sibling and has seen a dead body. It’s also possible that this could be Levi’s secret, as he is known to have parents and siblings. However, from the way he spoke about them, I feel like it was implied that they were alive. And, even if they weren’t, based on their rocky relationship, I don’t know if he would constantly blame himself. In Bonus Episode 1 - A History of Hope’s Peak, Min mentions that she has (likely alive) parents, while her sibling status is unknown. As far as I remember, not much is known about Hu or Veronika’s families, so it’s difficult to speculate about them.

That being said, I have a hard time believing that the secret “You only took on your talent to distract yourself from your incessant need to harm yourself for fun” isn’t Veronika’s. In Chapter 2 Episode 7, Veronika reveals that she struggles immensely with boredom, and got into horror because fear and thrill interest her. I could definitely see that, before discovering horror, injuring herself was Veronika’s “best” outlet to escape her boredom. Her hidden quote, “Once something is broken, it can never be pieced together in quite the same way again. The same goes for people” seems to match the worldview that this person might have had. Beyond that, I genuinely don’t know who else this secret would fit. Hu, Levi, and Min all feel like strange fits personality-wise to me– they seem pretty level-headed and aren’t big fun-seekers. Xander has knowledge of treating injuries, but I can’t see someone so tied to survivor’s guilt injuring themselves specifically for the sake of fun. Teruko is quite bandaged, but only because of her luck, and she seems to dislike being the recipient of such harm. Therefore, Veronika seems like the best fit.

The last secret that I have strong thoughts about is “Xander’s” secret, which we already talked about: “How could I even select what secret to make your motive? Just about everything you’ve done in your life is worth killing for. The killing game is all your fault.” I think that this is Teruko’s secret. Teruko has canonically stated that she doesn’t know what exactly her secret is. While she has a habit of keeping things from us, if she’s telling the truth, that lines up with “everything in your life being worth killing for.” From the very first scene, we also know that someone who wants to end the killing game has the goal of killing Teruko, no matter what. If the anti-killing game person is anti-Teruko, it stands to reason that Teruko is aligned with the killing game somehow.

I’m not entirely sure about this one, though, mainly because of the way Teruko acts. Wanting to stay in the school for the rest of her life doesn’t seem to align with the goals of the mastermind, AKA running the killing game. However, there are a couple of ways to avoid this problem. The first is the obvious solution that Teruko just forgot that she was the mastermind. This has happened in canon and fanon Danganronpa alike, so it totally could happen again. Alternately, this secret doesn’t actually say that its bearer is the mastermind, only that the killing game is their fault. If the real mastermind began the killing game in order to murder or otherwise get revenge on Teruko (potentially for all the so-called terrible things she’s done or been a part of), this could be Teruko’s secret without her actually being the mastermind.

For what it’s worth, though, I think it’s decently likely that the mastermind is a girl. In A History of Hope’s Peak and Visiting Graves, Min and Xander talk to “Unnamed Student,” who has a consistent voice between the two episodes. While I didn’t mention it earlier, MonoTV also has a hidden quote: “Her name is Mai Akasaki.” Looking at this hidden link, we can also see that Mai looks the same as the person Teruko saw in her flashback after Xander died. I would be willing to wager that this “Unnamed Student” is Mai, and that “she” is therefore a girl. The dialogue implies Mai was in the same Hope’s Peak class as both Min and Xander. Although this series follows the class of a collegiate Hope’s Peak several decades past Makoto, a typical class of Ultimates has sixteen students, eight men and eight women. Thus, if Mai was in Xander and Min’s class, but now is not in the killing game, there’s probably a female intruder who took Mai’s place. That person may be the mastermind. Seeing that Teruko is a girl, Teruko could fit this intruder role.

Of course, the gender balance could be thrown off given that we have at least one nonbinary student, but it’s still worth mentioning. Additionally, I can’t deny that this could still be Xander’s secret, or even someone else’s entirely. Whether David makes it through the second Class Trial or not, I feel like we won’t be getting the truth out of this one for a while to come.

Guessing who owns the last three secrets between Min, Hu, and Levi is where it gets murky. “You always treated the competition with ruthlessness, but poisoning them to win was a bit too far, wasn’t it?” probably gives us the most to work with. I don’t think this would be Levi’s secret, given that I don’t know what “competition” he would have had in becoming a personal stylist.

From A History, we know that Min did have to compete in order to become the Ultimate Student. However, she also tells Mai that “it seem[ed] highly unlikely that [she] was number one in the nation in terms of raw scores”, and that she “doubt[s she] was even the top scorer on that test.” The use of “unlikely” and “doubt” make it sound like she didn’t know exactly what would happen with the results, and therefore that she didn’t take decisive action against her competitors to secure them. However, she could also be concealing the truth from Mai. Or, if her benefactor poisoned the competition for her, perhaps that could count as her secret as well. She might then agree that it was a step too far, though, especially given that her hidden quote is “I wanted to save you.”

Otherwise, this secret could fit Hu pretty well. The arts are always a competitive field, so I could see Hu having competition for being the top zither player. Her hidden quote, “I want to pay for what I’ve done. But even then, I still want to live” could totally match up too. She feels bad about poisoning her competitors, but it’s not like she wants to be poisoned herself to atone for it.

Then there’s “You were quite the hopeless child. Dying once wasn’t enough, so you attempted suicide three times.” While it might seem like Hu’s “even then, I still want to live” could fall in line with this, I don’t see how attempting suicide would leave her with anything to pay for. It would only be if Hu’s suicide attempts drove her loved ones to such despair that they decided to take themselves out too. But, in that case, wouldn’t that probably be mentioned in the secret itself? However, I do think it’s worth noting that Hu’s refusal to share the “harm yourself for fun” secret could hint at her having a past history of self harm.

Min and Levi seem to have both been pretty hopeless children. By her own admittance, Min grew up quite poor, and her parents seemed to care more about her Ultimate potential than her as a person. This could have led her to become suicidal. Her dialogue surrounding these events is perplexing– she says that she obsessively studied for her entire life to pass the Ultimate test, and that she never considered failure as an option. If she’s telling the whole truth, then perhaps she had such tunnel vision on her goal that she never would have tried to take herself out of the game. Or, is she only using such strong language in hindsight, when she had more faltering steps along the way?

Levi also had a very rough childhood, claiming himself that he, his parents, and his siblings were bad influences on each other. It’s possible that their influence caused Levi to feel that “dying once wasn’t enough,” and separate instances of abuse or arguing drove him to the edge several times. His hidden quote, “I always believed that a person is defined by their actions alone. But maybe that’s just a poor excuse for my heartlessness” doesn't totally seem to fit this secret. However, if he was dishing out abuse as much as he was taking it, maybe he drove his family to the point of harming themselves, too. It’s quite sad to think about, but that’s true of whoever holds this secret.

And, finally, “You’re a murderer, and you hold no remorse.” This secret is so vague that it’s really hard to get a grasp on it. I want to eliminate Min from this one, simply based on her behavior in the first Class Trial. If she had killed someone before with no remorse, would she really act so shocked and afraid when she wound up killing Xander? And, how and when would she have been driven to the point of killing someone while she was devoted so fiercely to studying?

However, Levi and Hu don’t seem to make much sense for this one either. Levi seems to be a pretty regretful person, and talking about his “poor excuses for heartlessness” only adds to that reading. I could see Levi having killed someone, but it’s harder to believe that he wouldn’t feel even a little bit bad about it. Same with Hu– if she wants to “pay for what she’s done,” wouldn’t that mean that she feels bad about her hypothetical murder?

If I had to guess at this point, I suppose I would say that the competition was Hu, the three attempts were Min, and the no remorse was Levi? But the dead end on the remorse secret makes me feel like either I’m missing something, or I was wrong about Teruko, Xander, Veronika, or somebody else.

Sorry if this wasn’t as conclusive as you were hoping for– I mostly wrote this all out just to sort out my own thoughts. I only caught up with this series, like, three days ago? So it’s definitely possible that I’m forgetting or missing something. Or, that I just came upon common consensus, and that everyone already figured out and agreed on all this weeks ago.
