newfragile yellows [607]
Krem’s weight on her would be uncomfortable if it wasn’t the only source of warmth she currently has. Krem's got one arm slung over her shoulder, leaning heavily on her, head bobbing as he jolts awake every few seconds. Every time Krem comes awake he does his best to shuffle her closer to him. Ellana would appreciate his attentiveness if she were awake enough for it, honestly. She’s been gnawing on Krem’s abandoned jerky for what feels like forever and the only progress she’s made is getting her mouth tired.
The meat is flavorless, chewy from spit, and overall unpleasant. Ellana’s not sure if she’s even managed a bite of it. It’s like she’s been using it as a chew toy or something to dull her teeth on for the past however long they’ve been there. Any flavor this thing had was long gone by the time Ellana got to it. Krem’d already been tiredly gumming at one end of it when she sat down next to him and he passed it onto her.
If Ellana ever had any qualms or hang ups regarding sharing food like this she can’t remember it. She’d taken it without thinking and started going at it from the other end while he leaned against her to give her a wind break. Not much of a wind break, but it’s something.
Somewhere between Ellana taking Krem’s jerky and Krem staring on taking quick thirty second naps in which he jolts awake whenever his head bows down too low, Dalish had come up on Ellana’s other side and started working on her own strip of meat.
“Stitches’?" Ellana asked arounda mouthful of what was basically a leather strap.
“He’s a sucker for women and children,” Dalish replied. “I’d feel bad about it, but really, I’m saving him the hard work of having to soften this thing up with spit. I’m giving it back to him later. We’re doing half each. Aclassi’s?”
“He can’t stay awake enough to eat it,” Ellana says. “I practically took it straight out of his mouth.” Ellana jerks her head towards the long line of people in the cold snow. “News?”
“Some of the scouts think they’ve figured out a way to avoid the steeper climb, but they’re not sure how safe of a crossing it is. They’re discussing it right now with Trevelyan and the rest. I didn’t ask anything further. I was too tired for anything that would require critical thinking that wasn’t focused on immediate survival. I’m too tired for the long term.”
Sounds about right.
Ellana vaguely knows where they’re going, the cradle of the sky is around here and Ellana had told Evelyn as much. Now, Ellana has no idea what they’re going to find there, but she knows they’ll find something because the Wolf wouldn’t have told her to go otherwise. But Ellana hasn’t the faintest idea of how they’re going to navigate their wagons, surviving cattle and horses, and civilians there. She leaves that up to the organizers of this whole thing. Gods be good, Ellana would hate to be the one making the decisions right now.
The three of them huddle closer together, Krem’s arm flexing over Ellana’s back as he fumbles to get his fingers snagged into the back of Dalish’s cloak to try and pull her in closer. Even mostly asleep Krem’s good at looking out for them.
“Good?” Krem yawns, almost slumped onto Ellana’s lap. She’d put her arms around him, but then she’d be losing whatever warmth she’s got with her furs.
Ellana was lucky when Haven fell. She’d been prepared.
Lessons of the Wolf — keep your life small enough to run with.
Even with the Chargers at her side, Elaine still hasn’t learned how to shake that. When the orders to evacuate Haven came all Ellana had to do was throw her furs over her shoulders, grab her satchel and go.
Everything else she needs has their own legs to carry themselves with.
She knows others are not so lucky. And no one expected Haven to actually fall. Literally, physically fall.
If Ellana were a more selfless person she would have given her furs to someone else. Maybe some younger woman or perhaps an injured elder, or basically anyone else.
Another lesson of the Wolf — take care of yourself first, the rest will follow.
Ellana snags Krem and Dalish’s free hands and draws them in close, into the gaps of her furs and squeezes their fingers tight in hers. The two let out small sighs of relief as they squeeze back. The three of them are an awkward tangle of limbs at the worst angles, but at least they’re getting warm and maybe a little bit full.
The three of them look up when they hear the sound of crunching snow drawing closer.
Bull shakes his head at them when Krem moves to stand.
When he reaches them he runs his palm over Krem’s head, adjusting Dalish’s cloak with the other hand. His eye is on Ellana.
“You good?” He means all three of them, even if he’s looking at her.
“I’m not dead,” Ellana says. And then glares at his bare chest. “And I’m not in danger of losing my nipples.”
“This one isn’t even on me,” Bull replies. Every inch of him is tired, even though there’s the faintest curve of laughter in his eyes. “Lost my shit when the mountain fell on our home base, Wolf. You can’t hold that one against me.”
“I can and I will,” Ellana huffs. “News?”
“Later,” Bull lowers his voice, “The situation’s getting harder to manage.”
His expression tightens as he bends down over the three of them.
“Talk to the others. Get a read of the mood. Report back to me by tonight. Understood?”
“Others?” Dalish repeats. “How far down do you want us to go?”
“I can ask Malika to get a read on the kids,” Krem says, “Might be a little hard getting the nobility to talk.”
“Not those others. Our others. The Chargers,” Bull corrects.
Ellana’s eyes narrow at him. He doesn’t avoid looking at her, but he doesn’t say anything which confirms what she’s thinking.
Lessons from the Wolf. Lessons that you learn when you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. You take care of yourself — and your own — first.
Krem straightens up next to her, she can feel his body tense and Dalish’s hand squeezes her knee.
It confirms what the three of them are thinking.
But they nod anyway, silent. Too risky to get verbal confirmation now. Best to follow orders and wait for tonight to confront that issue.
“Good,” Bull’s voice is low, tired, and proud. “I’m going to check on Stitches. Remember. Tonight.”

How to stop your puppy mouthing. This can lead to a serious problem when not stopped at an early age from your dog.
Tumblr media
When does a Puppy start mouthing? What is mouthing?
Mouthing is when a dog routinely grabs people using their mouth without causing an injury.  That happens mainly during play, exercise or whenever they are excited. For puppies under 5 month of age, it is still ok as a puppy explores things with there mouth.  But if the dog is older like 8 months or older than it becomes later on a serious problem. Older dogs when they play they should have learned the rules, even when they are overexcited. Older dogs should not play-bite anymore.  The best way to train a puppy stop mouthing is through dog training from an early age on.
Tumblr media
Nipping, Biting and Mouthing  Have you ever been nipped by a young dog or a puppy? It might be your own dog or the dog of a friend. If so you know that it feels like a knife or an ice pick, in short, it hurts.  It becomes hard to stop dog nipping and dog biting when you have an adult dog. ( most puppies who have not been trained from a young age on will nip and bite as an adult dog) If your Dog is nibbling or biting other people in the butt when getting up, it is not a nice feeling for the person being nipped. You also feel embarrassed, and all you can say is sorry and you hope your friend is still a friend and understands it even with a bruised butt. You feel pretty bad, and over time people avoid coming to your home. The best way to train a puppy stop mouthing is with passion and love. A dog should never make you feel uncomfortable when you are around your friends and neighbours. You are in charge, not your dog.  Socializing a dog from a young age on is essential. Every young puppy needs dog training from an early age. Dog Training should be done either from a certified trainer or from yourself. Letting a puppy grow up without proper training is irresponsible and it is an invitation to problems with an adult dog.
Educate yourself about the Breed of the dog you are getting. Does it suit you and the environment you live in?
Depending on the breed of the dog the nipping can be quite painful, and it is definitely not fun being nipped in the bud, hand or fingers from any dog.  Puppies do instinctively nip and bite when playing alongside their siblings. That is a way of communicating with the siblings and the environment around them. If uncontrolled by his less close family and “pack” members, a young dog would, in a second, be taught by his mother and siblings to manage his chewing. It has less impact on their skin and fur. Unfortunately, for us humans, we aren't so lucky, yes, it hurts when a puppy, young dog or an adult dog is nipping or is biting you, and it can definitely pierce some of your skin. The majority of puppies are separated from their mothers and family prior to the time when they've had an opportunity to take this skill on board and understanding it remains “unlearned”. Get some information on the puppy or dog you want to bring into your home. Things that are important to know. Educate yourself on the breed of the dog. Puppyhood Socializing my puppy how vital is it! How to train my puppy to stop nipping and biting
Tumblr media
Why do puppies bite and nip? You can be sure that every adult dog who mouth people has never been trained or learned from the pet owner during their puppy and young adulthood that nipping and biting are not acceptable. They probably never learned how to be gentle and to chew toys instead. You might appreciate that your dog is not gnawing on or chewing your leg, hand or finger maliciously. Chewing, gumming and mouthing are ordinary activities for puppies and young adolescent dogs. It is normal, and if they had stayed long enough with their siblings and mother, they would be taught this in their early puppyhood. It remains unlearned. Many pet parents don't enjoy a dog that bites, chews and mouth their clothing, limbs or hands during play and interaction.
So, what to do?
First, you need to let your puppy have fun and let it mix with a group of other dogs. Note that it is an important step to let your puppy mix from an early age on with other dogs. Don’t make a mistake and let him grow up isolated and protected,  you don't do your puppy favour. It might not be visible when he is younger, but when your puppy grows into adulthood, it becomes a behaviour problem. Puppies are as active they jump, they run like crazy they fall and they need to have fun. Here comes the learning part of your little fur ball of fun, when it becomes a bit too boisterous when he is together with other dogs, the pack members speak to the other dogs and will immediately address his improper and unnecessary behaviour. As necessary as it goes, this socialisation along with different dogs is the most straightforward hands on the way for your puppy to discover and manage his temptation to nip or to the bit.
Socializing is an important tool for your puppy to learn.
Tumblr media
Socializing has additional benefits that allow your pup to socialise in a way where he discovers not to be nervous or develop any fear of strange dogs. He will get rid of his surplus energy and vitality. You will have a calmer puppy and young dog when he grows up. It makes him more peaceful when amongst other members of the household. It is proven that when puppies do not socialise with other dogs, they will be overactive, wild and destructive in demonstrating a range of different and difficult behavioural patterns. ( they can't get rid of their energy it is essential and necessary that a puppy can release its energy) Dogs without any canine social skills generally tend to react unnecessarily nervous and aggressive to new situations. Socializing with other people and smaller kids  Socializing also means to other people. It is essential to introduce a young dog to other dogs, but it is also important to let him socialise with other people. (Particular if you have younger members of your household ) It is important for a puppy being around younger children is also essential for growing up, and it helps the development of puppy adulthood. Younger children are closer to weight and size to a dog, it possesses that selfsame puppy-like vitality what can be interpreted as the belligerent in a puppy.
How to train my puppy to stop nipping and biting.
1. When your puppy is relatively youthful ( less than 4 months) this is a sensitive period for your puppy to continue interacting with the family in an appropriate way, where both neither your young ones or the puppy becomes overly excited. Depend on your puppies breed that can be a significant aspect to look out for. ( quarrelsome dogs) 2. Another way to train your puppy or young dog to stop nipping and biting is elicit its confidence and esteem. It involves subsequent training and becomes more natural when the efforts of your training become permanently notable. It will help you in the long run as you are able to strive and manage, then rectify difficult or unmanageable behaviour.
How can you garner your puppy esteem?
3. You have to treat your puppy with the same level of respect and consideration that you expect from your puppy. "This is important. " Whenever you play or train your puppy, please try to handle it with consideration. What that means is no hitting, no slapping, no screaming even in situations where you feel like losing your passion. The key to successful training is calm energy. Your dog will sense how you feel and will act accordingly.  4.In a situation where you deal with severe improper behaviour stay cool and calm if you want your puppy to learn the things that make your life and his life easier and more comfortable. 5. Physical discipline and or abuse will ruin the confidence and admiration of your puppy. You will make your puppy scared and frighten and he will act nervously when you are around. You will only achieve the opposite.   Your training will counteract with your effort what you are trying to achieve. It will not stop your puppy from nipping and biting. In all likelihood, it will do nothing more than flummox him.
Tumblr media
6. Giving treats and an abundance of compliments together with the positive support you will be able to train your puppy infinitely more quickly, faster and far more efficiently. Your puppy will learn and understand that it can have fun without nipping and biting. Your puppy will learn to play with you in a gentle way. 7. Use chewy toys and give your puppy the toys instead of your toes or fingers.  Have plenty of them at home. You will need them. Chewy toys are the same important for a puppy as they are for a baby when teething. A puppy discovers during growing up time a lot of things, and if you do not want your favourite things chewed or bitten through and through give your puppy alternatives to chew. An old shoe of yours is a good idea to give him for chewing and destroying the best with laces. I remember my dogs chewed all the old shoes I wanted to throw, and I have to say it kept them quite busy. It helped them when they started to nip and bite as an alternative. As the old shoes been there favourite chew toys. They still are.  A Young dogs that bites and nips will mature into a grown dog that will continue to nip and bite unless you instruct it otherwise. It is not fun having a dog who bites and nips. Playing with the dog is then not fun. As he will have the control and he will sense your fear of being bitten or nipped.  Over time this antagonistic and aggressive behavioural pattern can and will definitely become worse and less manageable.  Eliminating the nipping and biting in a puppy from an early age on is really important. Interacting with your dog should be a joy for both of you. I have a Rottweiler dog her name is Bonnie and she is such a gentle dog. I am very proud of her. We trained her since she was a young dog as we got him from a friend when Bonny was 8 months old. ( She had a nipping habit when she first came to us) There are professional dog trainers around look in your local newspaper or search the internet for professional trainers with CPDT certification if you are not able to train your puppy for whatever reason.  The best way to train a puppy stop mouthing is from a young age on.
Puppy training is fun and it forms a bond between you and your puppy.  Remember what you miss now will reflect in your puppy growing up. Training and socialising is an essential part of the life of a dog growing up. Do you have experience with a dog mouthing or nipping? How did you solve it please advise us here with your solutions? Did you do the dog training yourself share your tips with us Thank you for stopping by. All yours Melanie

A Review of the 4 best dog interactive treat dispensing toys on the market now!
Tumblr media
My review of the 4 best Dog interactive treat dispensing toys It was again time to throw out the old toys from my dogs and buy new ones. When I looked around I had a great choice.  I decided to buy some Interactive treat dispensing toys for my dogs here is a review on how they hold up. I bought the following Toys. Starmark Bob-A-Lot Busy Buddy Bristle Bone Dog Toy Hol-ee dog treat ball Seek-A-Treat Flip N Slide Connector Puzzle Toy
Tumblr media
Why dog owners buy interactive treat dispensing toys. Dog treat toys are fun for dogs, and it keeps them busy. Dogs love them they love to get to the treats /dog food inside the toy. We think we do something good for our dog companion. At least I do and it makes me feel good. My dogs love them and that is all it counts.  Lots of Dog trainers and dog behaviourist recommend using dog treat dispensing toys because they take out the boredom and increase mental stimulation to dogs. It helps to distract dogs from unwanted behaviour. Puzzle dog toys and dog treat dispenser toys are strengthening your dog’s cognitive abilities and are fun. Read my testing of the toys and how long did they last, before my dogs got bored or destroyed them. One thing you should keep in mind that those treat dispensing toys is not just for food they are also for play and keep your dog busy. We all know that when Dogs are bored, they can do all thoughts of things. My dogs when they are younger and bored somehow they found a way to go outside in our garden and dig holes throughout the yard. Alternatively, they start chewing our toothpaste or destroy our newspapers. (Read: How to crate train your puppy) Dog Treat dispensing Toys are suitable for all kinds of dogs, like dogs who have separation anxiety, for puppies when you train them, for dogs who love to bite, for dogs who are sensitive to noise,  as they have to work to get to the treat and play to eat. It keeps their mind off what scares them.  There are a few tips on how to teach you on using the toys to make your dog interactive with the dog treat dispensing toys.
Tumblr media
In the beginning, start with high-value dog treats the soft ones as they do have a smell and can be cut into pieces. Mix it with different kind of treats and rotate the treats as otherwise, it gets boring for your dog to get the treats from the interactive dog treat dispenser. Make it more comfortable in the beginning and slowly increase the level of difficulty to get to the treats. When your dog understands how to get those treats out of the dog treat dispensing tool you can slowly increase the level of difficulty. Normally those dogs treat dispensing toys come with different level settings. The easiest setting has a bigger hole of the dog treat dispensing tool. You can also leave the cover off until your dog understands how to get to the treats. In general, they figure it out quickly as when a dog can smell his favourite treats they promptly try to get to them and believe me your dog can be brilliant when it comes to food. Some dogs need a bit longer, but in general, every dog will find a way to get to their treats. Another advice One more thing do not feed your dog before you give it the treat dispensing toy. If you give your dog beforehand a full meal, he will not be amused and will not work hard to get to the treat as there is no incentive for him as his stomach is full. There are a different dog treat dispensing tools, and I have three dogs, and all three have a different favourite dog treat dispensing tool. You need to find out if they are kibble lovers,  chewers or destroyers. I keep stock on the treat ring refill at home as my dogs love to chew. Great that it comes in different sizes like small, medium, and large. What are the benefits and features

Sometimes the gnawhide rings become a bit soggy after they chew on them, but it seems it only bothers me not my dogs they love it. ( still using it especially when I change the gnaw hides)
Tumblr media
3. Hol-ee Dog Treat Ball This Dog Treat Ball is a dog treat dispenser, and a dog toy all rolled up into one ball that will entertain your dog for hours. You can adjust the level of difficulty for your dog. The ball is easy to carry, and my dog smashed it into the ground until it burst but I fixed it again, and my dogs love it. The only thing that bothers me is the small size of the kibble, but it seems to be perfect for dogs as they do enjoy it. It is an excellent combination in one dog treat dispenser toy and a dog toy. Benefits for your dog it is a great playful learning activity for your dog. It helps with your dog's destructive behaviours, and it keeps them engaged and interactive. It will challenge your dog's problem-solving skills. The rubber feet on to bottom keep the puzzle in place during your dog is solving the puzzle. Challenge your dog with different treats and on how many you use each time. The variations of using different counts of treats make it a challenge each time. Product Features: What are the benefits? it is interactive and challenging. It supports your dog's cognitive learning abilities. Variation of different treats in multiple puzzles No-slip grip Item Specifications: Size: 11.25" x 10.5" What is now the best choice for your dog? Whatever Dog interactive treat dispensing toys you buy think in terms of what would your dog like if he could be going shopping. The best tips I can give is that some toys made from hard plastic are loud and if your dog is a bit sensitive to noise than a soft rubber plastic is better for your dog. Dogs are different and some prefer chewing and some prefer the kibble treats. Consider if you have a kibble treat loving dog then the chewy gnaw hide toy won't be so much fun for him. Dogs are like children they go back to what they know.  The same goes the other way around. I keep both of them for each of my dogs and even our Lab was not very fond at the beginning of the treat dispensing toy now our lab is used to it, because of my other dogs. What are your dogs' favourite dog interactive treat dispensing toys? Share with us your experience. Thanks a lot and have a beautiful day. All Yours Melanie   Read the full article

A Review of the 4 best dog interactive treat dispensing toys on the market now!
Tumblr media
My review of the 4 best Dog interactive treat dispensing toys It was again time to throw out the old toys from my dogs and buy new ones.
Why dog owners buy the interactive treat dispensing toys. Dog treat toys are fun for dogs, and it keeps them busy. Dogs love them they love to get to the treats /dog food inside the toy.
You can also leave the treat cover off until your dog understands how to get to the treats. There are the different dog treat dispensing tools, and I have three dogs, and all three have a different favourite dog treat dispensing tool. You need to find out if they are kibble lovers,  chewers or destroyers. You can get the dog treat dispensing toys in the different variation, different shapes for different snacks or treats.                                                          1.Starmark Bob-A-Lot™

This dog treats dispensing toy is fun and gives your dog food and exercise. Not recommended for heavy chewers as this is a toy. Wash the dog treat dispenser toy in warm water and a bit of vinegar to clean it. It comes with great features like: Anti-slip bottom The durable polymer construction of the toy will hold up for serious play. The design comes with dual chambers (top and bottom) Adjustable openings to customise levels of difficulty Your dog will be intellectually stimulated, and it lengthens the attention span. It promotes the exercise and sharpens acuity. Recommended for smaller and larger dogs. When you order choose the size of your dog small or large. It is also perfect for fast eater this toy will slow down your dog eating. Item Specifications: It comes in two sizes small and large.
