Sitting in my consultation room and trying not to cry

Being a doctor isn’t money or dreams or white coats.

It’s graduating at 23 and working your twenties away. I’m 27, almost 28, and I work 5.5 days a week and see 58-71 patients a day. I used to work 100 hour weeks before. This isn’t better.

It’s having only 4 hours to see 38 patients, sometimes all of them new cases with multiple complaints which means you get around five minutes to see a patient for an average of four problems, because you also have admin work to finish in those four hours or the nurses get mad.

It’s being so exhausted you don’t see friends on the 1 weekend day you have;you just work. If you want to sleep in on weekends you don’t; you just work.

I feel a little like a ghost. I’m wasting away bit by bit and our whole cohort in our department is so burnt out we want to leave and yet our head of department says he won’t do anything about the patient quota.

At this point I think he wants us dead

I think I got extra time on my art exam (like a day or a half) just so i would shut the fuck up because in my art mock, I didn't have extra time so I couldn't finish my portrait (it was amazing, I only brought one of the paintings home) and I was in deep despair because the examiners will never see it in its glory. I was ugly crying SO much, that it carried on to the next day, and at this point, everyone was so concerned and worried about me that I was sent back to the art room for the rest of the day so I could finish my bloody portrait...🗿

Brb I'm overthinking the placement of injuries in the Riordanverse

I'm convinced that Executive Producer David Jenkins feeds off other people's suffering. Like, I imagine he wakes up every morning, gets out of bed, slams open his bedroom window and just stands there with his arms open, basking in the screaming souls flooding in. *That's* how he starts off his day. I'm 90% sure that the only reason it's going to come out on October 5th is to spite me, personally. Because that is, quite literally, one of the ONLY two days I won't be able to see it when it releases. I am going to be stuck in a classroom with nothing but an exam, a 2b pencil and my silly little thoughts for 5 hours and there's nothing I can do about it.
