Our newest episode is out! This episode, we’re taking a turn into the classics by reviewing two retellings of Emily Brontë’s gothic novel Wuthering Heights: Black Spring by Alison Croggon and What Souls Are Made Of by Tasha Suri. We indulge our inner English majors by getting very excited about cycles of tragedy, ghosts, and doomed romance while also discussing how the novels put their own spin on a classic work of literature.
Content warnings: discussions of abuse, racism, murder, colonialism, famine, death

17-year-old Egor and his friends live in a small seaside town. Ordinary life changes dramatically when they get their hands on a pair of dueling pistols. Having revived an old and dangerous tradition, teenagers create a closed club “Black Spring”, which exists according to the laws of justice and honor. Each new fight becomes a test for them, in which they learn more about themselves, friends and family secrets.
