whoops guess who had a lot of parental feels
They're perf -"Really?"
"Yeah, really! I -- c'mon, little man, say it again!"
The blond boy was in his father's arms, eyes flicking from Jiraiya to Akemi for a moment.
"Hideki, what you just said to me, say it to Mama! That's what you said -- come on, you wanna tell her all about it, don't you?"
Hideki looked stricken, tiny eyes still flicking back and forward between his parents. He didn't know what he'd done, didn't know what he was supposed to be doing... and so, he cried.
And it wasn't just a little cry, no. It was a wail, a screech, and arms reached out to let hands open and close impatiently, grabbing at the air in Akemi's direction. Jiraiya's eyes widened and Akemi swooped in to take the boy from him, glancing at Jiraiya.
"I didn't do anythin', you saw, I didn--"
"I know."
"And he said it, he really did!"
"I believe you," she smiled, glancing down at Hideki and rubbing his back, trying to calm him down.
"C'mon, little man," he wandered over behind Akemi, leaning down a little and wiping a tear from Hideki's reddened face, "you said mama before, why can't you say it now? I wouldn't want your mama not to hear your first word."
Little did Jiraiya know there was a reason Akemi believed him so readily when he said that Hideki had said mama -- and that's because she'd heard him say it before. But Jiraiya had been at work and she hadn't had the heart to tell him he'd missed it, and so--
"... Ma-... mama," the little boy mumbled against her shoulder, and Jiraiya's eyes widened, as did Akemi's. She smiled wide and turned to Jiraiya, who was positively grinning.
"That's it, little man. It's mama."
They're also perf - "You don’t need to be so gentle.”
For a while now, Choji had been very intently trying to dress his daughter, but he'd been worried he was too clumsy to do so without hurting her. It was a rather delicate and fiddly job when he was trying to do it with just his thumbs and forefingers. When he heard his wife's voice, he nearly jumped.
"What're you doing out of bed...?"
"You've been gone for while. I was coming to check on you two, and... I bet you've been trying to put the jumpsuit on her for ages, haven't you?"
"I..." Choji paused, glancing at Seiki before down at their daughter, giving a small sigh before letting his hands dropped. It was lucky Chomiki seemed to be a quiet and relatively placid baby, because she was just content to lie there as her father tried to contend with the jumpsuit.
"... You what?" Seiki asked, slowly making her way over to him, standing beside him and letting one hand come up to rest on his back, the other hand coming over to Chomiki. The baby's head tilted a little and she reached up, grasping her mother's forefinger.
"... I'm still worried I'm gonna... gonna hurt her or something. She's so little."
"Course she's little, she's a baby. But you're not gonna break her, Choji. She's a tough little thing." Seiki tried to reassure him, and he gave a gentle sigh, small smile stretching across his face.
"Just like her mother?" he asked, and Seiki gave a grin.
"And don't you forget it," she remarked, pulling her finger from Chomiki's grip and letting it grasp Choji's arm a moment. "She's sleepy, so she shouldn't cause too much of a fuss when you put her back down. And then you'd better get yourself back to bed, y'hear me?" She glanced up at him and raised an eyebrow, and his eyes widened a little, prompting her to smirk.
"Good," she turned to walk away, hand coming back to quickly pat him on the butt, evoking a tiny yelp from her husband which had her smirking as she left. He sighed and, with some of that newfound reassurance, dressed Chomiki before bringing her up, watching as she settled against his chest, giving a gentle coo. He turned to her crib, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to her head.
"... You know I love you and your mama more than anything else n the world, don't you?" he asked, and while he knew he wasn't going to get any response, the content, sleepy sigh his daughter gave was enough to have him smiling. He set her down in the crib and stayed there until he was sure she was asleep, before leaving the room to head back to bed.
