FITF - UK Charts
I’m sure most of you have seen the wonderful news that Louis is battling it out for a potential UK number 1 this week, and I’m so excited to cheerlead all the UK fans on to helping Louis top the charts if possible!
Currently, Louis and Bruce Springsteen are battling it out for number 1 and 2, with Louis leading by only 1,200 albums at the moment. Bruce will have a lot of fans who will buy the album (either physical copies or on iTunes). Also, though Bruce’s streams of his new album are lower than Louis’, Bruce does have more monthly Spotify listeners in London than Louis does (93k vs 374k) so don’t count him out of notching a fair number of streaming sales in the UK.
What we also need to keep in mind is that we have two juggernaut albums in the streaming categories in Drake & 21 Savage and Taylor Swift’s latest releases (they both have over 2 million monthly Spotify listeners in London). Both of their albums could potentially take the lead to top the charts by the end of the week with steady and extremely high streams.
Since Louis had to cancel his signings in the UK due to his broken arm, it’s so exciting that they released the NEW extended deluxe digital album with CHANGE and a new song High in California, along with a great acoustic demo of Face the Music. If you’ve previously bought an album from Louis’ store, you will even get a discount to buy this digital version! Check your e-mail for your code. Buy it HERE if you are able and remember to download the album to make sure it counts as a sale. Of course, while you’re visiting Louis’ music store, you can always be tempted by the physical copies of the albums too!
It’s also super cool that they released the Pop-Up store merch that includes vinyls with the London and New York covers, and the London edition is available exclusively in the UK until the end of the charting week!! The London editions are individually numbered with only 3000 released!
It might also be a great time to remind folks in the UK that HMV has the super sexy red and black splatter vinyl AND the lenticular cover CD which includes the bonus tracks Paradise and Copy of a Copy of a Copy live! As a side bonus, if you order a version of FITF from them, you have a chance to win a signed guitar from Louis!
Lastly - if buying an album is not in the cards for you at the moment, please remember that your streams matter! If you have Apple Music, or Spotify (paid or free) or any other music listening service, any time you hit play on a song that is helping Louis’ charting! This is going to be a very big challenge and it’s so awesome that Louis is in the mix! Every bit counts!! Let’s GOOOOO team!
Under the Cut there’s some details on the top 10 albums of the past few weeks and some data about what the sales numbers might be looking like.
The Official Charts in the UK don’t freely give as many details about the actual sales of albums from week to week, so we really only have the order of the charts to go by. Here’s the last 4 weeks worth of charts. In red, I highlighted albums that may or may not end up in the top 10 this week. In Green, I highlighted albums that are likely to be floating around the top 10. As I mentioned above, I do think Drake & 21 Savage’s album along with Taylor’s are likely racking up a LARGE number of sales (based on streams and streams/physical sales) and potentially could over take both Louis and Bruce by the end of the week, so we’re going to need a steady and big push to beat Bruce, Drake & 21 Savage, and Taylor.
Tumblr media
I did stumble upon this twitter account that is sharing some details of sales numbers that I have NO WAY of verifying, so grain of salt here. Presuming these numbers are accurate, here’s the scenario we are looking at:
Tumblr media
First up is data from last week’s charts - you can see Drake & 21 Savage’s album shifting 36k in sales based on essentially streaming alone. In the US, streams typically drop off by ~30-50% after the first week. With the UK charting rules, I’m not sure if the same kind of drops are seen. But even if they are, the album could still have between 19-25k in sales week 2. Of course, if fans are pumped about the album, the drop may be less.
For Taylor, in her 3rd week of charting, it is likely that most of the 32.5k in sales were from streams. Another trend we see in BIG albums is that after the initial drops in streaming, eventually the long charting albums steady out and their streams keep them in the charts fairly consistently from week to week. That’s why you see Harry’s album and Ed Sheeran’s album for example on the charts still. So for Taylor, I think she’s still going to be dropping down in terms of sales since it’s only week 4, but the drop is going to be less drastic than a week 1 to week 2 drop like Drake’s album. From week 2 to week 3 she maintained 68% of sales, and the so this week could be similar or a higher percentage maintained - that translates to probably between 22-26k in sales.
Okay - that same account provided this information about Louis and Bruce Springsteen’s albums at Midweek:
Tumblr media
They’re not giving us specifics here, saying that both have sold more than 20k (and if Louis’ sold 1.2k more than Bruce, he must be at least at 21.2k). Now obviously the BULK of sales are going to be from the first day release (all the pre-orders coming in). The question is going to come down to what happens in the next few days (and how much more than 20k they are at right now).
Bottom line - all 4 of these albums could legitimately be number 1 depending on how the week goes. As a smaller fandom, all we can do is cheer each other on. Spread the word, streaming if you have a chance, and if you are able, consider buying a copy of the album. No matter how it shakes out, I’m incredibly proud of Louis for a wonderful album that we all are going to get to enjoy for years to come.

ATEEZ Is 2nd K-Pop Male Group Ever To Spend 2 Consecutive Weeks On UK’s Official Albums Chart
Tumblr media
ATEEZ has just achieved an impressive feat in the United Kingdom!
Last week, ATEEZ’s latest album “THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL” debuted at No. 2 on the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Chart (widely regarded as the U.K. equivalent to the U.S. Billboard 200). According to the Official Charts, ATEEZ “just missed out” on the No. 1 spot, making them only the third K-pop group ever to enter the top 2 (following BTS and BLACKPINK).
On December 15 local time, the Official Charts revealed that “THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL” had successfully remained on the Official Albums Chart for a second week. For the week of December 14 to 20, the album stayed strong at No. 57.
ATEEZ is now only the second male K-pop group in history to spend two consecutive weeks on the Official Albums Chart (again, following BTS). They are also only the fourth K-pop group ever to chart an album for multiple weeks, following BTS, BLACKPINK, and NewJeans.
Congratulations to ATEEZ!

“They write constantly. They write on the road, so before or after a gig they'll write nearly every night. It's a serious process, but you don't know how it's going to turn out until you start practising it together, because everybody's done it individually.”
—Muse manager Anthony Addis on the band's writing process for The 2nd Law, in 2011.

“It’s funny, I wrote maybe 4 or 5 tunes in one of the breaks of the tour legs, and actually, I just wanna spend a bit of time. I’m really excited for those songs, but I don’t know when the next records gonna come and the thing about me is when I start writing, I’m just desperate to release things as soon as a possible, so I wanna take a bit of time on this record. So when that might be, who knows.”
