ok, these are honestly just over-excited flailings without much probable significance, but here are some details i noticed in the new bobf trailer:
first shot shows a b'omarr monk skittering around outside jabba's palace. they're longtime inhabitants of of the place, so that makes sense.
(in the junior novels, boba is very much unnerved by them when he first arrives at jabba's palaceβ€”more so when bib fortuna attempts to scare him by implying he'll meet a similar fate if he fails jabba. probably not an intentional reference in the trailer, but given our last glimpse of boba in the mandalorian was him murdering fortuna, it made me happy to see the trailer open on a monk)
boba is handed his helmet by a small droid. it looks a little bit like the little guys pelli moto uses, though less rusty
boba got his eyebrows back lol. also his scars are much less noticeable. unsure whether these things have narrative significance (maybe denoting a significant duration between the events of the mandalorian and tbobf) or maybe disney just realized that bleaching temuera morrison was a bad decision
boba and fennec are shown parleying with an ithorian, whose words are being translated into basic. maybe i'm crazy but it sounds a lot like din's voice translating? it might just be a coincidence.
when boba and fennec are in a stand-off with what look like uniformed attackers, a gamorrean guard is visible behind fennec. gamorreans are also shown flanking boba during his meeting with jabba's former retainers. it seems that the gamorreans see him as their new boss?
tuskens! i really hope they delve into boba's connection to them, given his proficiency with a gaffi stick.
a pair of twileks are shown when boba speaks of cooperation. maybe they're potential allies?
boba's helmet is shown rolling on the sandy ground, coins spilling out of it. i have no idea what might be happening in the story at this point, but considering the visual similarities to the moment of his father's death, it's definitely quite intriguing symbollically.
boba and fennec seem to have a very interesting dynamic here. boba spends the entire trailer apparently attempting diplomacy and downplaying his own legendary ruthlessness (claiming he's not a bounty hunter, promising to rule with respect, proposing cooperation, inviting his detractors to speak freely). meanwhile, fennec moves and speaks much more menacingly. note her stalking around the room when addressing jabba's captains while boba remains seated or how she's positioned in front of him on the balcony, looking out at their "kingdom" while boba stands and looks off to the side. not to mention her not-so-subtly implying that she wants to feed the captains to a rancor when they speak out of turn to boba lol. i wonder if this is an intentional "good cop, bad cop" dynamic they're cultivating or if they do have genuine differences in how they'd prefer to run things. honestly, i like the idea of boba playing the nice guy and letting fennec be terrifying in his stead 😁 he's like "yeah, i'm chill now. my lieutenant, on the other hand..."
who needs a rancor when you have a fennec
anyway, if anyone needs anything, this will be me until the end of december:
