Dumbledore @ Tom Riddle: bullying is not tolerated at Hogwarts

Snape remembering the miserable 7 years of torment he endured:

Severus being born in 1960, Lockhart in 1964.

Severus' worst memory - June, 1976 - Lockhart's first year.

Severus becoming a teacher on September of 1981 - Lockhart is in his 7th year.

The new students are weary of the dungeon bat and Lockhart just going "this goth potions nerd? I remember when *yada yada talk about his humiliation in the worst memory with how the rumors described it*"

Needless to say when Severus found out he made Lockhart's last year a living hell.

Needless to say Severus was very close to off Dumbledore when he gave Lockhart the DADA position.

pureblood supremacy aside, it's actually kind of sad that Alphard actually understands muggles better than others who proudly claim they're progressive

like say Dumbledore. or Arthur Weasley

he's such a fascinating character. I think one of my favourite characters you've both created.

I forgot if this has been answered but what actor would you want to portray him?

Arthur in particular is bad, I want to be somewhat nice to him (I know, on this blog? Perish the thought) and say that he didn't have enough exposure to Muggles to know the difference except that he does have that exposure through fellow Order members like Lily Evans and then later through Harry and Hermione. He does at least ask them questions but him gutting a car and then enchanting it to say how cool the car is without understanding anything of how the car works and appreciating it...

It's bad.

Dumbledore's slightly better than Arthur (which is bad because it's Arthur's actual job) but he gives the air of being self assured in what he knows and therefore believing he knows more than he actually does (the blase response when London was being bombed and Tom wanted to stay in Hogwarts during the summer was... telling)

Alphard's helped a long way by having a) an extremely close relationship with a Muggle-born where Tom did not put up with this shit and b) he likes old books. A lot. He likes really old books. A lot.

You want the classics, Alphard's your guy.

And yes, we really like him too.

And nope, we haven't done face cast and at least very late at night when I got this we both said "Omar Shariff". So. Alphard's stupid hot but for some reason no one realizes it.

As much as I don't agree with the Dumbledore is the reason for everything that is wrong in the world trope — we have to agree that wizarding world failed both Voldemort and Harry. And Dumbledore had a hand in it; and things could have gone a lot different if, say some different choices were made by some people in power who decided to not do anything.

See, we all agree Dumbledore is not a god, nor could he have helped everyone. We can agree that we don't know much about his and Tom's relationship so we can't really talk about that. But, what we can talk about is his and Harry's relationship. This man left him, a child at the door of a family that hated the word "magic". And worse part is, even after knowing they don't like him — he still insisted that Harry returned to them without even trying to check on him. And the horrible, horrible thing about that is; Dumbledore could have — checked on harry or made someone else do it, in the 11 years of his life. And even more horrible than that is he did make someone check on him, he knew Harry wasn't treated right and he just did not care enough.

He might have created an elaborate plan to make sure Harry survived, but he also made an elaborate plan to make sure Harry doesn't have any self-esteem left when he does.

I never read or watched Harry Potter, so I don't know much about canon, but -

Snape and Peter were both Death eaters, right? And Sirius wasn't. So Snape probably knew that Peter outed the Potters, and not Sirius. When Snape went to Dumbledore to become his spy, why didn't he mention that "oh, by the way, Black is innocent, it was Pettigrew who betrayed the Potters"? Is this somehow explained in the books or movies?

Did Snape just hate Sirius so much for the prank that happened years ago that he just decided to leave Sirius to rot in Azkaban? Or did he genuinely not know? Was it even possible for Snape (a pretty high position Death eater) to not meet Peter (also a pretty high position Death eater)?

Someone who knows canon, please give me answers

Originally put this in a message to someone but I'm still salty so I'm posting it here too.

I just keep thinking about how Dumbledore is presented as this great advocate for equality and justice in the Wizarding World but what does he actually do? For example, it's said he "opposed" the killing of the last giants in Britain (implying there was a state sanctioned genocide btw) but like...how did he oppose it? Dumbledore does not care about respecting the Ministry or following the law when it doesn't suit him ad he is also tremendously powerful and essentially has his own private army. (Not to mention that until Voldemort's second reign it seems he was generally respected and influential in the Ministry and held a lot of sway there). So if he really wanted to stop it, he could've done a lot but it sort of seems as though he was more like 'oh no...don't do that...oh well...'

And there are so many other instances like this. He says Sirius was wrong to mistreat Kreacher but did he even once try to intervene? Does he ever make a rule saying that using slurs like "Mudblood" is against the rules? He has full control of the Hogwarts curriculum until 5th year but does he make Muggle Studies mandatory to expose Purebloods to information that could prevent their radicalization into anti-Muggle organizations? Does he try to get legislation passed to prevent the wanton use of spells on Muggles to modify or wipe their memories despite the risks of such magic? No! He does none of these things.

He seems pretty happy to let the status quo be and focuses mainly on Tom Riddle - who he has been bizarrely fixated on in a kind of disturbing way since the first time they met - while ignoring the larger, systemic problems in wizarding society and doing little to aid the groups he claims to represent.

Lately I've been pondering alot on footwear in the wizarding/wixen world...

There's so much to tap into fashion wise...like what the hell does just "robes" even mean Terf-face McRowling????

And I feel like the fan base has done such a wonderful job to portray their own beautiful and unique designs and descriptions... but not so much on shoes 🤔

Like the most generic thing is for them to be walking around in muggle shoes or "loafers" or "dragonhide boots"....
