Era mentira, desde luego: había ido a Quintero aquel verano, y había leído mucho, pero a Jack Kerouac, a Heinrich Böll, a Vladimir Nabokov, a Truman Capote y a Enrique Lihn, que no a Marcel Proust."⠀ ⠀ "The first lie that Julio told Emilia was that he had read Marcel Proust. He did not usually lie about his readings, but that second night, when they both knew they were starting something, and that that something, no matter how long it lasted, was going to be Importantly, that night Julio imitated his voice and feigned intimacy, and said that yes, he had read Proust, at seventeen years old, one summer, in Quintero. At that time no one was spending the summer in Quintero, not even Julio's parents, who They had met on the beach of El Durazno, they were going to Quintero, a beautiful spa but now invaded by the lumpen, where Julio, at seventeen, got his grandparents' house to shut himself up to read "In Search of Lost Time." It was a lie, of course: I had gone to Quintero that summer, and had read a lot, but to Jack Kerouac, Heinrich Böll, Vladimir Nabokov, Truman Capote and Enrique Lihn, not Marcel Proust."⠀ ⠀ Alejandro Zambra⠀ Bonsái⠀ & Aimei Ozaki (artist) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRVrBqnL-GQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
