I'm tired of hearing that self diagnosis isn't valid as if so-called medical professionals don't frequently misdiagnose their patients.

As if the industry of psychiatry isn't evil when homosexuality used to be considered a mental disorder and abused slaves were labeled mentally ill for escaping.

As if the DSM actually makes any fucking sense at all being only descriptive of external symptoms that others deal with when dealing with a person with that disorder instead of symptoms that describe how it's actually like to live with that disorder for the person who has it.

As if everyone conveniently ignores that the stigmatization of mental disorders is created by the psychiatric industry and there are mental disorders that therapists refuse to treat or diagnose because of that stigma.

As if everyone forgets that some mental disorders are so stigmatized that having a diagnosis on your record can ruin your life and make you the target of discrimination and abuse by any and every entity who wishes to have power over you by using your disorder against you.

As if the entire population of the world has access to healthcare which is a privilege that only the fortunate and wealthy can afford.

As if the process of formal diagnosis doesn't begin with self diagnosis.

also. i think accusations that bruce became less affectionate because there were no more hugs, piggyback rides, etc etc following jason's death sometimes fail to take into account that it's not that bruce got *less* affectionate it's that bruce's way of displaying affection changed in accordance with *what was considered appropriate levels of affection between men* in the 90s.

bc if you honestly look at the way the relationship that develops between bruce + tim from alpod to knightfall it might not have all the hugs outside of when tim's mom died and it's An Appropriate Time for a Man Hug, but it has smiles and banter and jokes. it has bruce worrying over tim and comforting hands on shoulders. it has bruce sending tim's entire boarding school class across the world to japan *just* to keep tim safe from the joker when he returns. it has bruce racing back to the manor at the thought of alfred and tim in danger there. it has cute nicknames and quiet pride. bruce is still falling in love with every woman who's nice to him for 2 seconds. he doesn't actually start being more of a distant asshole to everyone (not just tim) until the knightfall event and the knightfall event + the breaking of the bat was designed to make him grittier and harsher. and even then *as he's being colder* there's still all for one handshake with dick and tim in knightsend. there's still the worry over tim in contagion and legacy. there's the teasing, loving family moments in gotham knights. honestly if you compare it the amount of affection that tim receives from bruce is similar to and pretty much almost at the level of the affection bruce gives to *dick* during this era (probably not quite as much, but it's very similar in *how* bruce shows affection to both and it is similar in scope).

and it makes sense that they toned down the overt physical affection. they always would have. batman and robin still got constant gay jokes in the 90s as people moved further away from socially acceptable affection between man due to the stigma of homosexuality especially in the 90s following the aids crisis. batman's open affection for robin was *always* going to get toned down.

also if you're trying to sell comics to 14 year old boys, as they were, the last thing they were going to put in was a teenage character being treated with affection that seemed babyish to most teenagers back then. also with the popularity of the batman movies, they were also going to pander to the movie fans who wanted things to be more serious. hugs outside of An Appropriate Solemn Moment were NOT going to fly.

Rather than categorizing titles as “feminist-friendly” or “problematic,” they are simply listed in alphabetical order with relevant content warnings; doing otherwise ran the risk of folks seeing these staff recommendations as rubber stamps of unilateral “Feminist Approval,” which is something we try our hardest to avoid here.

The titles below are organized alphabetically. As a reminder, ongoing shows are NOT eligible for these lists. We’d rather wait until the series (or season) has finished up before recommending it to others, that way we can give you a more complete picture. This means we also leave out any unfinished split-cour shows, which we define as shows that air their second half within a year of the first.

Just!!! its literally all so beautiful. incredible. amazing. [Imagine this goes on for way too long and its incredibly obnoxious.] 🐐💛✨ [She's also just a very neat person in general]

I love the bold line work they often use, along with their coloring and just gah! everything made by this person makes me so happy every time it pops on my dash, i feel like it has to be impossible not to fall in love with their work! To me, a majority of their artwork comes off so warm and... nostalgic?[Granted it is probably because of the beautiful use of warm colors and also the time period that comes with Curtwen mostly... but still.] And just, i dunno man. i just really fricken adore this persons art. I remember one of my first thoughts being how much it made me think of those really beautiful short-film animations, usually silent except for some gorgeous instrumental soundtrack in the background... and, just, wow... anyway ~

@its-short-for-jackalope this person is SO passionate! Their support towards the things they love, such as tinlightment and Pulp musicals, is everything. I also absolutely love the way their art manages to have this beautiful yet adorable style all while managing to capture the resemblance to the actors they are referencing perfectly! From their simplest drawings to their bigger pieces, i think they are all absolutely wonderful~ These people are just so crazy talented and i appreciate them very much 😔

Never forget that Arthur found it fucking hilarious when Merlin disrespected him in the beginning 'you can't address me like that' said with a smile like the sun. I bet he thought fucking finally someone is being real with me.
