Gale Reviews: Miraculous: Ladybug & Chat Noir. The Movie

Welp I finally got the miraculous Movie so now I get to review it.

So For this review, I plan viewing this SOLELY on the movie. I will not be judging it completely based on the show. This is Zag's take. (The view on who did it better will be for another Post)

Plot

So its pretty simple. A villain named Hawkmoth appears that wants to use the power of the butterfly miraculous to get the two miraculous he needs to attain his goal. But two heroes will rise in order to fight him, Ladybug and Chat noir. We will see another take on the show that inspired the movie. A new world for Ladybug and Chat noir.

Overall, this movie's plot is pretty generic, its not going to be winning anything for originality. BUT it sticks to the script and does everything it needs to do to set up Ladybug and Chat noir's respective character arcs and setting up one heck of a final confrontation with hawkmoth. The emotional drama is there and mostly hits the points it needs to. And while not everything got a laugh out of me, some things did.

It also ties up a good amount of loose ends while leaving Sequel bait.

For the most part. 7/10 for non-fans

9/10 for fans.

Its engaging enough and does what it needs to do.

Characters:

Marinette: She is likable and you do enjoy seeing her on screen when she starts getting confident. I do think the pacing of the movie does impact her a bit, but its never to the point where its unbelievable. Also as Ladybug, her banter with Chat noir is top notch. There is some really good chemistry there. That being said, I find it harder to believe that she fell in love with Adrien over chat noir. But its a nit pick.

Adrien: I admit it took a bit for me to actually like this adrien, but I think thats intentional. Chat noir starts out arrogant and annoying, while Adrien starts shut off and quiet. He is a boy mourning the loss of his mother and his father is so distant that he seems gone to. But then he meets Ladybug, he sees this girl and how incredible she is. He finds someone he can relate to and his heart opens. Its beautiful seeing him fall in love with her and pull out all the stops opening up to her. He even gets to confront his father. Its quite a biting scene. I must say this maybe my favorite iteration of Adrien. (Careless whisper is the only song he listens to.) I do wish he was in it a bit more as adrien, but its not that bad.

Gabriel: I dont know how they did it, but they managed to make Gabriel sympathetic. Showing the lengths he is going, how lost he is, the survivor's guilt he has. He blames himself and wants to bring his family back together again. And Hawkmoth they made wacky and yet TERRIFYING. And we see this especially in the finale and the moment we think he wins, he sees his son. He sees it was Adrien, the one thing left in his life that he wants to protect him. This is a gabriel that deserves some sympathy but doesnt shy away from the fact he committed crimes.

Alya and Nino: Now they are both not in this as much as the actual show, but they are great supports and some of the changes done to both of them are wonderful. Alya being supportive of Marinette, Nino being such a bro to adrien while also simping for Alya (Chef's kiss). I do wish Nino and Adrien's meeting but their friendship is good.

Chloé: This chloé is exactly what she needs to be. A bully character but never so excessive that it detracts from the plot. She is spoiled and she is probably the funniest character. (For those that know the show, think Season 1 chloé with a dash of season 2) I think they got a different english VA for her, and honestly it works.

Plagg and Tikki: I found Plagg a bit annoying with the fart jokes, but outside of that he is pretty similar to his canon counterpart. Tikki on the other hand SHINES in this movie. This is what I wanted from Tikki, motivational, curious, fun loving. this is what I picture with the kwami of Creativity.

Fu: He is the mysterious old man character. He plays it well, though he is hardly in the movie. But at least he actually shows up for Ladybug and Chat noir almost right away, instead of just hiding.

The other characters play their roles and there are some funny bits, the akumatized villains are fun and play their role. Lady Magician and the Mime are both phenomenal.

Also the Gargoyle, I feel so bad for him. He wins the award for most Tragic akumatization.

Overall Solid 8.5/10

I do wish we got more Alya and Nino, and less fart jokes from Plagg

Lesson

There are 3 lessons to take away from this movie.

The first one "Stronger together"

Having help and working with those around us can help us grow, we have to be willing to let others in and help us be our best selves.

The second is "Believe in yourself"

Marinette's main character arc is coming to terms with what she can do and finding the inner strength that she always had, even without powers. (Done better than a chunk of films these days)

The Third lesson, "Power of Love"

It was love that helped stop Hawkmoth, it was love that helped chat noir and ladybug overcome their weaknesses and fix paris. It was even love that helped them at the very end.

That being said... the execution on all of the lessons was not perfect, the first one sort of fell off by the end, but the second one and third lesson still applied. There could be some work but I still enjoyed it.

Animation:

The Animation looks great, the character designs look great, and while I was originally iffy on them, after seeing it I must say the designs work.

The Lighting in itself if Heavenly to say the least. Whoever was in charge of the lighting needs to be given a deep tissue massage and a raise.

It does feel a bit Disney for my personal taste but I cant complain with how crisp the fights look. Great Choreography and it really sells the intensity of the scenes. The details and call backs, the foreshadowing.

Its solid animation, I would say that it is missing a few bits to really make it stand out, some sort of Stylization. But outside of that. Its good.

The scenes that they want to focus on look great, the imagination bits are grandiose. There was care put into this and not just a cheap cash grab.

The Music

This movie is a musical, very disney-sque.

And as a courteous, I listened to the songs in French and english. I know the english VA's arent the one's singing. And I have to say, it feels SO WEIRD for Marinette in the english dub. But Its not that bad. I think the French one is just more consistent sounding. But english and french both sound fine. Also Chat noir's VA isnt singing, but I think the singing voice for him fits him a bit closer but the french is still the best. "My Lady" is a great song for Chat noir.

The songs are fine, nothing that really blew me away, but they were fun. "I believed in me" fits Marinette well as an opening song.

Tikki's rapping in english is surprisingly decent. But SO WEIRD.

But Gabriel's singing voice, THAT through me off.

Villain song 101. Love it in the english dub. "Chaos Reigns"

But the song "Stronger together." That hit me. The duet in both iterations are great.

The Background music always seems to fit the mood... Except Careless whisper (But that was always used in amusing ways). The BG should be praised

Final Thoughts

Overall, if I had to rate it objectively, without knowing the show or series. 7/10. Nothing ground breaking but its a good film in itself, its entertaining and fun, and it has some good moments. Pacing is a bit all over but it’s under 2 hours so it’s more of a pick your battles thing

If I had to rate this as the Show fan that I am and my personal enjoyment.

It does nearly everything I wanted it to do, and added to flair and changes.

Now not everything is perfect, since limited time to tell a story. But its coherent and cuts some of the bloat that was a problem in the OG series. Now some things I enjoyed were also cut though.

I like how it isnt a 1 for 1, it changes some things and gives a fresh tale.

Now which one is better I will address in another post

"Oh honey, it was like something from those cheesy romantic musicals. Marinette would be twirling around, humming love songs to herself, sprucing in whatever mirror she could find, and the sighing, the ENDLESS sighing. She was hopelessly in love."

"You want to talk hopelessly in love? My bro would daydream about Mari 24/7; even when he WOULD talk, it was about her. He'd go on about her eyes, her hair, her smile, pretty much everything. Bro was simping HARD."

"You two make it sound like it's not still going on. Believe me, their gross little lovey-dovey display hasn't slowed down at all. It's ridiculous... But I can't pretend that I don't find it absolutely adorable...

"And honestly, this is the happiest I've ever seen Adrien. The old me would have hated this, but now? I can't tell you how grateful I am that Marinette is a part of his life."

"I feel the same way. Marinette hasn't been this happy in years. Seeing her like this is just, well, amazing. I can't thank that boy enough."

The ongoing rewatch got me thinking about Felegami and how to make Felix feel like less of a consolation prize/Adrien replacement, which reminded me of an idea that I am never going to write, but wanted to toss out there: Adrigami fake dating AU where it's legitimate fake dating with no romance involved.

We introduce the arranged marriage stuff as early as season two or three, but it's immediately clear to almost everyone that this relationship is dead in the water. Adrien's heart is already Ladylocked and Kagami thinks that Adrien is too soft, silly, indecisive, passive, etc. However, Kagami also wants to do normal teenage things without upsetting her mom, so she's like, "Adrien, we are going to enter a non-romantic dating relationship so that we can experience traditional non-romantic teenage milestones and activities without upsetting our parents. Do you have any issues with this arrangement?"

And Adrien is totally onboard because he also wants to do those things, especially once he learns that Kagami doesn't care if he invites his friends along. Friends are a standard part of being a teenager, so clearly they will only enhance the experience. (Up to you if Marinette knows all of this from the start or if you want to have some drama in this part of the story as she tries to do a Frozer and support Adrien's new "romance" which mostly consists of Kagami wanting to do things like try every flavor of ice cream at Andre's while Adrien sighs longingly over his Ladybug ice cream, firmly cementing Kagami's initial reaction of "hard pass").

So we stick to canon for the most part, there's just no angst for Kagami and Adrigami never has a breakup arc in season 4. Kagami keeps "dating" Adrien until mid season 5 when Felix shows up. That's when Adrigami publicly breaks up because Kagami is like, "Sorry mom, there's a overly-dramatic dark broody version and that is everything that I've ever wanted, why am I only learning about him now? You have all failed me! I must go to him. Besides, Adrien's in love with Marinette and I don't want people to think that he's cheating on me. She can have the pretty-boy pushover. I'm gonna go make out and do crime!"

Meanwhile Felix is just like "No! I thought Adrien got all of the simp-for-powerful-woman-in-red genes! What's happening to me?"

Ladybug is actually awful

Throughout the show of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir or whatever the full title is we see both main characters act kinda... not so great, but I maintain that the worst of the two, by far, is Marinette/Ladybug herself. Specifically in regards to being a partner to Char Noir.

Yes Chat has his own issues, mostly in terms of constant flirting and asking for a date despite being told no, but he is not nearly as bad as some people say he is.

Now ignoring things like not going to the date which was justified, the NY special thing and the trashcan incident which while not excusable were done in the heat of intense and stressful moments, there are still a LOT of things that Ladybug has done that could qualify as gaslighting, abuse of trust, and just straight up disrespect.

First up is the Grimoire, she never even tells Chat Noir it exists, and even if we say that only Guardians are allowed to read it she still doesn’t bother to tell Chat anything she learns from it that could affect him. I’ll put that as a minor infraction but it plays into some other things.

Second is how even when she learns-- via Alya’s outside perspective-- that the power of a Miraculous can be evolved, altered, and enhanced via imagination and doesn’t have to strictly follow it’s default she again never tells Chat Noir anything about it. Don’t say its a right of passage, she didn’t learn it herself either.

Third, Alya herself. Marinette tells her her secret ID and makes her a permanent holder in Gang of Secrets, but Chat isn’t told for twelve episodes-- a timeframe that is at least two weeks and is likely closer to two (one episode every three in universe days as a lowball still means five weeks) months-- and then only in the form of Ladybug being a no show for a fight and Scarabella taking her place. Now, even if you say there was ‘no way to tell Chat about Scarabella before Marinette had to leave to go to her aunt’s and she tried to get out of it!’ that one doesn’t track because she had time to call Alya, for Alya to go to the bakery, and for the hand off to happen but apparently not enough time to transform and leave a fifteen second voicemail, and two Chat should have been told about Rena being a permanent holder LONG before that because news flash, she is a BIG security risk seeing as Shadowmoth-- or Monarch-- knows her secret ID. Not telling Chat Noir was nothing but disrespect and showcasing distrust in her partner. Then she just gives a placating ‘I won’t abandon you’ to him and everything is all okay because Chat loves her and wants to believe her.

The last thing I’m going to bring up-- though its not the last instance to be found-- is her plan in Ephemeral. There is absolutely NO way to excuse that plan. She emotionally manipulates him and abuses his trust with the express intention of betraying any and all feelings he has for her. She literally uses the line that Chat would only ever give up his ID to her because he loves her. And the only reason she ‘doesn’t go through with it’ is either A) she finds out its Adrien and her simp mode activates so hard she can’t bring herself to react or give up his ID, or B) Time goes crazy and she loses her chance. So really she does go through with it, she did go through with it, and it should not be given a pass.

Ladybug is in fact a toxic partner to Chat Noir who does not respect him, only trusts him as far as using him as a meat shield or a distraction, and actively pushes him aside for practically an entire season before she is forced to start using him again because all the other heroes are no longer available.

Unpopular opinion time: I liked Nathalie better when she was a villain motivated by her simping for the winner of The Worst Guy Ever Award. She was a villain, it was obvious she was a villain and she actually kinda leaned into it. The evil smirks and smug attitude while being aloof to almost everything that wasn't about Gabriel worked. She was a great contrast to Gabriel's more bombastic villainy, and their relationship was a brilliant dark parallel to the Love Square. They were codependent in every aspect, like a warning of what the Love Square could become (and did become once the writers decided to romanticize codependency), and they used their powers for evil. What's not to like?

This new "I totally no longer support Gabriel even though I won't work against him because that would instantly end the story because I know too much" angle is really bad. The writers want Nathalie to be redeemable now for no real reason, considering how she is contributing jack shit to the plot, but I just find her utterly uninteresting and irredeemable, not because she's done anything that absolutely heinous, but simply because she has done NOTHING to undo her past evil actions. You don't get to redeem a character just because you make them feel bad for a bit.

I've already implied that if I got a chance to "fix" Félix, I'd make him an ally to Lila and not Gabriel, this is me ouright saying it; Félix would have been better if he was kept as a petty jackass and eventually teamed up with Lila with some suitably unhealthy romantic undertones to underscore how much better the heroes' relationship is.

They had the parallels. Adrien could see through Lila and defang her attempt to act against her grudge towards Marinette in 'Ladybug', while Marinette saw through Félix's scheme against Adrien without knowing Félix was a thing in 'Félix'. Adrien protects Marinette from Lila and Marinette protects Adrien from Félix. Why wasn't this a thing? Because Félix acts like he's been replaced by at least two different identical Sentimonsters with different personalities and motivations by this point.

Ohhh boy. Welp- this will be LONG.

1: Id make it in 2D, cuz one..the expressions and behaviors do NOT translate well with this animation and also..I think itd be cooler.

2: Give Marinette new outfits!!! Shes an inspiring fashion designer cmon!! Have her make stuff for herself and friends (and get an actual person that knows about fashion to give pointers)

3: Let Marinette actually..do hobbies with her friends that isnt about Adrien or Ladybug like..show her have a life outside of just that?? Show the audience who she is so we can love her more (and itll add more angst to how much she has to set back for Ladybug)

4: Adrien shares that actual plot and we see more of his home life and how it differed from Marinettes (Like Marinettes life is full of life and colors and Adriens is dull with little to no emotions allowed)

5: Marinette would maybe still give Chloe the shit advice for her mom thinking shes helping but instead of it being seen as a good thing it shows that Marinette cant fix everything especially things like this cus she doesnt get it (and itll make her look at people and her life in a diff light cuz she realizes..she has loving parents and most people dont, which leads to her looking at Gabriel with a side eye even more and regretting what she told Chloe)

6: Use Lila more and hint at how collective she is, make her use better lies and show her actually doing stuff shes lied about and hanging out with the class so it actually makes sense why they truly dont see her as evil (i also..wouldnt make her some evil mastermind , shes just petty and annoying, desperately wanting to be cool and loved by her peers) whether she gets redeemed or not depends

7: Show Adrien and Nino hanging out!! Let him have friends outside of Marinette and Ladybug!!

8: Marinette wouldnt give literally everyone in her class a miraculous..its so lame. Instead like Master Fu..she gives it to people she sees doing good things but not before discussing it with Chat Noir (Alya, Nino and Chloe will still get it and eventually Chloe would suggest Sabrina with Adrien or Marinette suggesting Kagami etc)

9: Give Luka more..personality than musical simp. AND EYELASHES OR EYELINER CUZ FUCK HE LOOKS LIKE THIS 👁👄👁!!!

10: Dont reveal who Hawkmoth is until the middle of season three, like in season 1 its a complete mystery and his motives are unknown, show Gabriel actually doing his job (he goes out and wears actual nice clothes instead of just..white and red..) So no one even suspects hes the villain, hes just doing his job..he just looks too busy for Adrien

Basically..fix the animation, fix how the emotions are handled..give the characters more depths and interaction so we can care a lot more about their motivations ?

I just wanna see these guys do..actual hobbies instead of just going to school..playing video games and thats it?? None of the other kids seem to have..lives outside of each other

Also..give the girls better outfits :/ its all kinda lame ngl. So thats just the jist, I dont want this to be too long cuz I got a LOT id change for this show ngl

Taking care of you

Adrien loved taking care of you when you had your period. You never understood why but he made you feel comfortable. Your ex boyfriend always acted disgusted when you told him you were on your period so you never brought it up again. Not even when you started dating Adrien. But eventually he knew, he knew how females bodies worked so when you first told him that you couldn’t go to the stadium to watch him play because you’re feeling sick he went all soft on you. He also said to you that he preferred staying at home taking care of you instead of playing that night but of course, as a big juventus fan as you are you scolded him and telling him that he had to win.

Of course that night Juve won.

But after that day it became his priority taking care of you when you were on your period.

“Good morning baby” he said once he woke up, hugging you from behind and the moment you didn’t reply he knew that time of the month had came.

He was very patient with you, always asking how you felt. Sometimes you just wanted to stay in bed all day, sometimes all you wanted to do was cry and other times you wanted to be adventurous, like going on hikes or road trips. It depended on how much pain you were feeling.

This morning was the worst.

You knew your period was coming so the night before you went to bed ready in case “your friend” would have visited you in the morning.

You were right.

When Adrien hugged you it felt like someone was punching you right in the stomach.

“Are you okay babe?” Adri asked you knowing that the time of the month had come

“No…” you simply said starting to feel a little bit nauseous

“It’s okay babe” he kissed your cheek and got up from the bed, covering you a little bit more with your fluffy blanket.

He went straight into the kitchen and prepared some hot tea for you, alongside with some biscuits and brought it to you in bed

“I hope this helps…” he said gently, giving you the hot cup and putting the biscuits on your night stand

“Thank you so much babe…” you whispered a bit and he kissed your forehead.

He went straight into the bathroom to get ready because that day he had practice even if he wanted to stay home with you.

“If you need anything I’m one call away okay? If you’re sick or if you’re feeling bad just call me and I’ll get home to you okay mon amour?” he asked you and you smiled a bit thanking him

That morning you felt like dying.

Everything hurt. You felt nauseous and your head was hurting. All you wanted to do was cry and scream but you couldn’t find the strength to do so.

Instead you showered and put on Adrien’s clothes, it made you feel calmer knowing somehow his presence was there.

You came back to bed and watched some TV binging from channel to channel. You snuggled into Adri’s pillow who perfumed exactly like him and you tried to fall back asleep waiting for him to come back home.

You didn’t realise that instead of taking a short nap you literally fell asleep for hours. You were so tired and out of energy that you needed to charge a bit. It was around 6 pm when you heard the front door opening, sign that Adrien was back home.

That day you hadn’t left the comfort of your bed and you started to feeling a little guilty for being lazy all day. All your emotions were coming out and you didn’t know if you could contain them in front of Adrien.

“Mon amour?” he called you coming into the bedroom “how are you?” he asked you sitting on the bed next to you

“Like shit…” you whispered

“Have you eaten today?” he asked you and you didn’t answer…”babe, it’s important to eat” he said with a soft smile

“I know I just wasn’t feeling hungry…” you said snuggling more into his pillow.

His face soften at your appearance.

“Why don’t we order something to eat?” he suggested

“I’m not that hungry but you can order something for yourself I don’t mind” you whispered

“Babe…please? Eat something for me…” he caressed your cheek and looked you into your eyes and you couldn’t resist his look

“Fine…”

“Perfect! Let me order something and then we can cuddle okay?” he asked you and you nodded.

He made a phone call probably calling the restaurant near your apartment and then he came back to bed with you.

“Princess you look so tired…” he said to you while you laid your head on his chest

“I am…and I slept all day…”

“Have you taken some painkillers?” he asked

“Yes…but it feels like it’s not working at all” you said hiding your face in the crook of his neck while he kept you close to his body

“I’m so sorry baby…is there anything I can do to help you?”

“Nope…”

“I’m so sorry…” he said massaging your back a bit.

When you felt his hands on your lower back you felt a sense of comfort you missed all day and let a few tears fall. You hoped he didn’t hear you but you were wrong.

He heard you and he held you closer to his body.

“It’s okay baby…let it all out, it’s okay” he whispered in your ear and you couldn’t control your tears anymore. You let them fall and Adrien kept massaging your back.

“Shhh…it’s okay, I’m here…you’re okay baby” he said comforting you.

After a few minutes you stopped crying and you felt childish for crying about nothing.

“I’m sorry for crying like this…” you apologised but he wouldn’t have none

“Don’t be sorry about it baby, it’s normal, you’ve had pretty stressful day” he comforted you and you smiled a bit

“Thank you Adri, for everything…”

“You’re my favorite person ever and I love taking care of you…it could be my full time job” he joked about it and you laughed

“I love when you take care of me” you teased him a bit

“I love taking care of you” he said kissing your cheek.

After 20 minutes food arrived and Adrien got pizza for the both of you and you eat it in bed watching some TV.

You, laid between his legs with your back and head on his chest and his warm and big hands around your belly gently massaging it, trying to ease the pain.

You fell asleep in his arms which were keeping you warm and safe. Adri gently wrapped a blanket around you and turn off the light.

“Goodnight princess” he said kissing your cheek and falling asleep too.

You know what time is it? TIME TO SAY SHIT ABOUT MIRACULOUS, YEY, so without winding up let's go, today I'll talk about the Mari chat episode of this season, the ninth episode of miraculous season 5 Elation

We start the episode with Ladybug being the biggest simp in the world to Chat noir and he just being a dumbass thinking that was just a test, I can already say this episode is gonna be great! (But ngl Chat noir being extremely stupid took a laugh out of me, maybe I’m the stupid one )

The first time I watched this episode I was like “no way Americans say kissy kissy,” and I searched it up and I found out that yes, Americans do say kissy kissy, so I’ll give a point, not to the show, to the Americans. Because that's the funniest shit I've ever heard, Good job guys

The scene cuts to Adrien going to the Dupain bakery to talk to Marinette, Marinette parents then assume that he is in love with Marinette, Sabrine then for some reason calls Marientte even if her room is not that far away? Now even the non-important character has lost their braincells.

Marinette says she’s busy and that he is just a friend from school and she didn’t want to see him after school, first of: Marinette’s an asshole. Second of: no man, Marinette and Adrien barely spend any time together after school, its rare a situation where the one of them call the other to do something, most of the time they are just there and they happen to meet. I’m not saying I want them to be together, Marinette is a selfish hypocrite and Adrien is not much better, I’m just asking for some better writing, that the basic of the basic of the basic of writing teen romance, making they just hanging out as friends, BUT NOT EVEN THAT, THE SHOW DON’T DO THE BASIC!

Marinette then blows up in Alya, Alya then tell her to calm down and touch some gras- I mean, get some air.

The scene then cuts to Adrien being harassed by fans again, Sabine and the guy I shall not say the name apologize for their daughter being an asshole and give him some chuquetes, chouquetes?

Oh, thanks google, Marinette parents give Adrien some chouquettes and he leaves.

Plagg: you’ve got the pastries but not the smile, you just wanted to see Marinette didn’t you?

Wow that’s a lot of fans, funny how this happens just when the plot demends and every other ep anyone ever bothers Adrien huh? Funny.

Adrien then escapes the fans and transforms into chat noir, running away from fans becoming someone even more famous, smart.

We then have a genuinely funny scene with Marinette and Chat and we have those two morons being cute, for some reason seeing two sided marichat Is surprisingly funny and not forced, I don’t know why but this wat of Chat, joker and carefree yet not knowing much about life, works a lot with Marinette being selfiish yet sweet and her way of being, makes some really good scenes. I think even the worst of shows can have some nice moments sometimes, I need to say, good job writers, you surprised me.

But the writers ruin everything making the two say stupid things while almost kissing so there’s also that-

The scene then cuts to Alya and Tikki talking bout Marichat or Ladynoir being a Canon.

Alya: cmon Tikki it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

Tikki: actually, Alya the end of the world is exactually the kinda thing that can result from problems between the holders of the miraculous of creation and destruction.

Alya: oh, you’re over reacting.

OH, SO NOW YOU’RE ACTING IN CHARACTER TIKKI? YOU’RE 2 EPISODES LATE.

The scene cuts Maributt and Cat noar looking for Andre the ice cream man and Mari uses an app max created just for finding him.

is the show implying Max put a tracker on andre's ice cream cart? Because I think the show is implying that Max put a tracker on Andre's ice cream cart. Forget putting Marinette in jail for being a stalker, PUT MAX IN JAIL, actually PUT EVERYONE THAT WORKS IN THIS SHOW IN JAIL.

Marinette then proceeds to ignore her best friend in the world and the two idiots go to Andre's cart.

Andre: marinette and chat noir! What are you doing here?

did the writers really are that dumb to don’t check Andre’s past apparencies to see what he was like and just made a whole ass episode pretending that it doesn’t contradict all Andre’s apparencies before?

no I trust the writers of miraculous, probably in glacietor he thought marinette was aromantic, and in heart hunter he found out that know and discreetly asked if mari was dating adrien or Kagami, that was just some lgbt representation in a show passed in a conservative as heck contry. and to that I say good job guys.

Also when it was princess justice, it was dramatic, here it's just... Nothing, because in princess justice Marinette has Expelled, and everyone believed she was an asshole, she had lost her friends, She was going to have to change schools, And with a record of being expelled it would be harder for her to do anything. Her life was at the worst it's ever been, but here is just "oh my crush dumped me" so no one gives a shit.

Chat noir then apologizes for kissing her and marinette realizes what the hell she did.

Marinette: I was almost akumatized… you’re right, were both being totally foolish.

The scene then cuts to chat noir fighting glaciator but by the power of theres-still-8-minutes-left he fails.

Andre then DESTROYS MARINETTE HOUSE, WTF? PUT THIS MAN IN JAIL, THIS IS ATEMPT OF MURDER.

Shut up tikki, idk why just shut up please, no really couldn't they choose a voice actress with a more annoying voice? this one is not unbearable enough.

Ladybug then transforms and go fight the big man.

With chat noir, glaciator is struggling to get his miraculous but when he almost go it, alya appears out of no where to say Andre was stupid, which is true, but even so andre tries to kill alya, that’s the character that was supposed to be the lovely ice cream man.

Andre then hears ladybug and because he is a sociopath, he proceeds to try kill her too. What a good character!

Ladybug and chat talk about he not being in love with her anymore and she accepts his choice.

Also chat with heterochromia is amazing ngl.

Monarch then tells glaciator that they’re hiding behind a building, huh good foreshadowing.

Ladybug then activates her lucky charm which is a big umbrella, and by the power of Girls-good-boys-stupid glaciator loses all his braincells (which was zero) and fall for the most obvious trap in the world, hero saying he gives up, and we have a butt joke….

If you excuse me, I’m gonna commit suicid-

Ladybug then purifies the akuma

Andre: ladybug and chat noir! Was I akumatized again?

Ladybug: yes

Andre: I’m-a sorry, is just that you make such a beautiful couple, but oh well, what matters most is that you’re happy.

When the heck did, he learn the most obvious lesson in the world? Just 9 minutes ago he was all “marinette deserves to die for ruining my ship” when did he learn his lesson? I think he learn it by the power of ladybub bullshit, yeah probably.

Ladybug then gives him a useless magical charm and fixes everything. Gabriel talks about exploiting chat noir’s feelings for Marinette but literally no one cares because he never does.

Chat then takes Marinette home make some jokes and we have platonic marichat.

Marinette then cry because of love; she didn’t grow up a little since season 1.

Adrien proceeds to be sad about love and, I don't know if you know but I like chat noir but hate Adrien, so I really couldn’t care less about it, also he gets happy to seconds later, and that’s where the episode ends

This episode isn't very good, it's not the worst but it's not good either, Marinette still this anoying selfish thing, and Adrien still nothing but an one dimensional simp, the villain was boring as heck, Andre still the same kinda sycopath ice cream maniac as he always was but now with less brain cells.

and really what the purpose of this episode was; to make Marinette not be in love with chat noir anymore.

But it wasn't delivered properly, it's the same case scenario as the rooster miraculous, it can easily be exploit.

Marichat wouldn't work ok, but what about ladynoir?

They see each other every day, they work together well, based from past episodes Marinette don't respect much if someone has a crush on another person, then what's stoping her?

Fear of being akumatized? Chat rejected her because she was in civilian mode.

Fear of being dumped out? This wouldn't stop Marinette for loving chat noir, it would just stop her from telling him that.

It was because of the moment that chat and ladybug talked about their feelings for each other? Marinette always runned after Adrien even if he said she was just a friend.

So what is stoping her from being in love with chat noir?

I'm general, I think what saved this episode for me was cat noar and Maributt when they weren't simping each other, they have a good quemestry what can I do? Well I'll give this episode a 5.5/10 put Andre in jail

Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 episode 17 Adoration

(Spoilers as this episode is out before other ones)

-Andre bonding with the child Audrey the supposed love of his life had with another man.

-I pity that man, changed everything about himself for love… it’s actually kind of sad. Because it’s clear he fell for the wrong person.

-Zoe got someone she is in love with. I’d say it’s Marinette, because she has LITERALLY no other people she has seen interacting with. But I doubt it will appear since this is an international show. So my bet is they will imply it without saying it, plus, Zoe doesn’t show the photo she was gonna bury.

-oh so Zoe is in 8th grade while Marinette is in 9th grade. So at least that conforms Audrey cheated on Andre AFTER having Chloe, Damn

-so those two are the reps. Also. Marc is a year younger than them. Interesting

-oh the zoenette is strong in this one

-The storage of all the gifts she made for Adrien, which needs cleaning out. Guess Marinette chilled out about things. Good on her.

-huh… this is the first time we actually get a full on tour of her room. (We see it a lot, but never knew how she divided her stuff up. Neat.

-Oh the hidden adrien simp board is new. Love the touch. (I love the little sticky drawings)

-That probably hurt Zoe more than she would let on.

-not gonna lie I know Andre isn’t his real name, but I get why he changed it. It’s a mouthful.

- Yea the show really just removed any and all character development they had for Chloe and squeezed it into Zoe. Points for Zoe standing up to Chloe.

-At least Audrey is still in character.

-Andre really be like (I prefer the daughter that was born from another man banging my wife than my own) points to the Simp mayor

-I take it back Anax as a nickname sounds kind of dope

- They really replaced Luka with Nino. Wait… DOES THAT MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS! Was the truth finally revealed?!

-I get the plan now, they are framing her for stealing stuff. So basically what Lila did in the episode Ladybug. That’s not surprising but also kind of mid. I was expecting more pizzaz. Side note, Zoe was with her the whole time? Also why would she steal from her parents?

-The Chloe accusing her part was clever, because the motive of Chloe walking in to yell at Marinette is very believable

- okay I take it back, this plan has Pizzaz. But the fact everyone sort of just believes it even her own parents? Like come on? And with an akuma litterally anything is possible.

-And Marinette caught on, sees vanisher thanks to the flowers.

-Chloé legit has a Gold phone?!

-Zoe is taking the blame! Zoe no!?

-Oh! Vanisher can just call back whatever she wants. Proof is in the pudding. Good thing Marinette is ladybug. Piñata time!!! Viva piñata

-Well she never outright say it… but She pretty much says it and Marinette confirms it though turns her down. I’m surprised they did that much

-I was complaining earlier about subtlety but this was tastefully done.

-I FUCKING KNEW SHE WAS DOWN BAD SINCE DAY ONE!

-Good on Zoe for encouraging Marinette. Even though she got turned down. But at least it was canon

-Oh damn Marinette is gonna confess

-SHE DID IT FOLKS! She fucking did it! And Adrien is receptive! Will we get a kiss!?

It was a fine episode, I think a lot of it felt padded out, and while I enjoyed the first few minutes and the LAST few minutes were epic. The rest of the episode felt… meh.

Yea Adrien is a sentimonster. There is no denying it. Like I’m sorry for the hood outs. This episodes ending confirmed it completely. Which may be the reason I’m not gonna rate it higher.

Sometimes I really hate the show for not allowing cn to be angry with lb and he has a lot of reason to be angry and upset at her too! It's also the same with most of fic I read, people let lb get angry at cn but do not let cn get angry at her even though it's justified. Whenever he's angry at her she would yelled back at him and he's quick to yield or that he still simp her even though she had hurt him. It's in character because that's his trauma response but I hope I can read a fic where cn can and allowed to be angry and instead of lb yelled back at him and getting defensive she would listen to him or you know, let him admitted that she hurt him and questioned if pursuing her or be her "partner" is still worth it. If you know a fic with similar premise like that, please let me now. Thanks!

I do see what you're getting at here, since there are times when I've been frustrated at Marinette, and when Chat Noir could justifiably be upset at her (Season 4 has a few examples), but where he didn't really get to have an in-depth talk with her to resolve these issues, not ones where it felt like he really got to work out the problems he had, anyway. I've mostly settled for Ladybug making more of an effort to include Chat Noir, to not hide secrets from him anymore that aren't strictly necessary, NOW at least. There are fics where Chat Noir gets upset at Ladybug and is allowed to be angry, with Ladybug listening to his concerns and changing her approach, especially during season 4. They aren't very common at all though, not when compared to the whole Chameleon saltfic trends, anyway. There are also ones that go beyond that and into full bashing, making Marinette into a stalker as a civilian and into someone who just, didn't care for or respect Chat Noir in the slightest and treated him badly as Ladybug, but that trends towards the same sort of Ron the Death Eater that I abhor in the regular saltdom, so I stay out of those stories once I realize where they're going. I noped out of a story fairly recently, actually, when I realized during chapter 2 that it was gonna demonize Marinette, treat her negatively in a way I found unfair.

Again, though, keep in mind that those are rare, and generally are not very popular on the infrequent occasions when they do pop up, they don't make up multiple sub-fandoms like the Saltinette sphere does.

As far as fics where Chat Noir is allowed to be justifiably angry with Ladybug for something she did, and Ladybug recognizes that, apologizes, and changes her approach, I actually wrote a fic I think you might like. I was pretty unhappy with how Ladybug lied to Chat Noir and manipulated him in Ephemeral, with her "lie to him about wanting a full Reveal, use that opportunity to have a third party secretly listen to find out Chat's identity, rewind time so Chat never knew anything had happened, and have that third part tell Su-Han Chat's secret identity, circumventing the need for Chat's knowledge or consent in any of this" plan, especially since it never got brought up later. So I decided to write a fic to help me process that, being fair to Marinette and keeping in mind her feelings and view on the situation, while also letting Adrien feel hurt and to lay down some boundaries, but WITHOUT him ever trying to hurt her or be nasty towards her - Adrien and Marinette are still the same loving, heroic, kind, but also realistically flawed people they always are, even if I'm upset at Marinette here.

Anyway, the fic is called "Transcient", I'm pretty proud of it!

I'll give you a sample as well, so you have an idea what sort of story this is.

“You screwed up,” Alya told her bluntly.

Marinette groaned.

Her friend pinched her nose, giving out a long sigh. “Girl, just… just walk me through your thought process here. Please. Why did you think it was a good idea to try to lie and trick your partner into giving up his identity to someone else without him even knowing about it?”

“I mean, I am planning on revealing my identity to him later, so… is it really a lie?” she asked weakly.

Alya glared at her. “At the time you said it you weren’t planning on following through, so yes, that was a lie .”

She looked down, biting her lip. “But if I didn’t, Su-Han was going to take Chat’s Miraculous. I- I can’t lose him, Alya.” Her voice cracked. “I already did once, back in New York, and I- I don’t want to go on being Ladybug without him.”

Alya’s expression softened, but her voice maintained a hard edge. “I get that, but why not just tell Chat about Su-Han’s ultimatum, work it out together? He’s your partner and this is about him, he should have a say on what to do with his own secret identity.”

“But what if he refused?” Marinette asked urgently. “Last time he met Su-Han, he was so upset about the Celestial Guardian’s insistence that I stop being Guardian - that I lose my memories - that he dared him to try and take his Miraculous. We ended up having a pretty tough fight, one that I’d rather not repeat. He said at the time that he’d give up his Miraculous if I asked, but… well… I don’t know whether that would extend to telling Su-Han his secret identity.”
