there’s STILL so many people commenting on that “the bats are doing calculus!” post with “ACKshually it’s not calculus because there’s no derivatives or integrals checkmate” and babes i hate to break it to you but you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what calculus is
#and also what derivatives and integrals are???#ALL HUMAN BEINGS CAN INHERENTLY DO CALCULUS IT ISN'T SOME MAGIC THING RESERVED ONLY FOR THE SUPER INTELLIGENT#like yeah ok#the symbols we use for calculus require a lot more study and dedication but i PROMISE you you've done mental calculus on the fly before#it's just that a lot of STEM people have sticks up their asses about how smart they think they are#and deliberately use the most confusing lingo possible to convey their thoughts#which is fine for papers where everyone's an expert and understands but a lot of them use it in day-to-day just to seem smart#which is annoying asff#i have two math degrees btw so i can say this#i've interacted with so many STEM people who think they're the bees knees#just bc they got a good math teacher who taught calc in a way that made sense#most of them men tbh...#like not to stereotype but the number of women and nbs ive met in my classes who think they're the best#is zero.#the number of men ive met who think they're the best ever of all time just because they can code or differentiate or w/e#is all but one of them.#so like at least ten who have Is A Man In STEM Syndrome#very sad#this got way too ranty sorry#doubt anyone read this far anyways tbh#well w/e#ih
