Aziraphale was already one foot out the door by the beginning of episode 5

I know this is a crazy statement to make, but why else would he be giving his (most prized) books away? I mean really, what?

He gives away ("lend it to you" smh) an ORIGINAL ERDNASE. That book itself is TWO of my dude's special interests. TWO!

This is also compatible with the "the ball was really Aziraphale's big love confession all along" idea. This angel is patient AF. Did he need to do this now? Why the urgency? hmm?? Did he, maybe, know that he didn't have much TIME LEFT????

Also why is this mf walking around tempting fate, all "it will be a night to remember" and shit? He MUST know about its ties to the Titanic. HE KNOWS HE'S ON A SINKING SHIP. OR IS THIS ANOTHER MEMORY THING REFERENCE, AGAIN, LIKE ALL THE OTHER MEMORY REFERENCES THIS SEASON AUGH I AM LOSING MY FUCKING MIND HERE

╰┈➤ You and Karma hangs out in his place to game until you suddenly felt a bit Eepy, and so you both went to bed [His bed]. It was supposed to just be simple sleep-over, that was, until he realized something after you clung onto him.

It was already past 11 p.m.

Attempting to be sleepless in a school night wasn't very much of an ideal plan, unfortunately the peaceful night still left them sleepless, for karma that is.

He was pretty much falling aswell when he felt something warm wrap in his upper abdomen, it shook him awake, he looked around the room to see what was clinging onto him, much to his surprise, it was you who had wrapped your limb on his torso.

A seemingly innocent movement such as this had left him flustered, very flustered if I may add.

You've done this before countless of times considering how clingy you get unconsciously, but this was the first time he's been flustered by this act of yours.

Thank god you were asleep, or else he wouldn't be able to hide his reddened face

It doesn't help that when he looked at you, you suddenly looked so pretty [Gender-Neutral wise], like what the heck? When did you look like that?

As the night went on he slowly gets used to the feeling of your warmth, but it seemed that the sleeping version of you likes to fluster him so badly, you tossed and turned on your sleep until your head finds its way to his chest, pressing your forehead in it for warmth and your arms compressed in your chest

"Since when did you get this clingy when asleep?" he asks in a whisper, he stopped resisting himself and wrapped his arms around you to shield you, and you pressed forward.

His mind was full of thoughts as he simply stared at the blank space in his wall, oh boy, he isn't gonna be sleeping anytime soon.

And ooh boy, it was definitely gonna be a night for him to remember because it was the night tha he finally realizes how much you've enchanted him.

The sunlight shook you awake, around 7 a.m. in the morning

You didn't have any blanket on yet it was warm, really warm, like comfortably warm.

You looked attempt to feel at the wall that you were pressed onto which you received a groan as a response, you looked up and in surprise, you were met by a sleeping face of the redhead

He looked much more calmer and more cuter, more skrunkly, more silly.

You stare.

That's it, you just stare.

"if you like staring at my face so much, might aswell take a picture."

This Episode have so much going for it def one of the best Episodes of the First Season.

Claire Caring for Jim's Mom.

Jim is actually Sparing Strickler and Show his Compassion despite them not getting along.

i do think that Claire is thankful for Toby Helping Jim asking her out or she is Just Nice in general idk maybe both

Toby Said at this moment i think i am in Love you to Darci which exactly what i want to hearr form Jim to another Special Girl that isn't his mother.

and a Nice Jlaire moment to close it all down Angor rot ruin everything but he was an unwilling Villain i do wish we saw actual Jlaire Date without being ruined or cut short :( well at least we got this.

A Night to Remember

Aziraphale (about the ball he's planning):

A Night to Remember:

A book by Walter Lord, published in 1955. It is a non-fictional account of what happened on board the Titanic before and during the catastrophe (it was also made into a movie in 1958). Sinking ship, sounds familiar? Check out my post on Good Omens and Lord Jim.

In A Night to Remember, the author uses interviews with 63 survivors of the catastrophe and other first-hand accounts to weave together a realistic account of what happened to the Titanic and its passengers. How is this relevant to GO? Well, the author of the book got praise for his unconventional treatment of chronology, time and space (check out my post on GO queering plot/narrative).

Apparently, he used a multitude of perspectives to present the same event from different POVs, creating multiple narratives that are arranged in a way that juxtaposes contradicting facts and emotions. And what for? To show the “human element” of the disaster rather than the mythology of it. Sounds familiar?

I find this intertextual reference especially intriguing seeing as Aziraphale’s dance in the bookshop is followed by disaster, and Aziraphale (the captain of this particular metaphorical ship) is too enmeshed in his fantasy of love and romance that he does not see the danger ahead, even when warned by Crowley. And obviously the consequences of that particular night are far-reaching.

Here's a bonus quote from Wikipedia:

“Lord updates the popular interpretation of the Titanic disaster by portraying it in world-historical terms as the symbolic and actual end of an era, and as an event which "marked the end of a general feeling of confidence." Uncertainty replaced orderliness, and the ship's sinking marked the beginning of the twentieth century's "unending sequence of disillusionment. Before the Titanic, all was quiet. Afterward, all was tumult."

But not enough: “A Night to Remember” is also a Song by Shalamar from 1982:

In my reading, this is how Aziraphale feels during the dance. He is totally caught up in the fantasy of “a love that’s, oh, so tender” and he really makes this grand gesture to make it a night to remember for him and Crowley. The lines that get me most here are “I’m so glad we reached an understanding” (oh no), “to think of what the power of love can do” (a 25-lazarii miracle, perhaps?) and “Now to you I make a lasting dedication/ I'll show you all that love and life can be, ooh/ And each day that I live I will deliver” (I am sure this is what Aziraphale is trying to prove to Crowley all the time, in his own way …)
