Something something about Natalia being out on the balcony and being outside of things in bucks life - the call backs to outside looking in and not actually seeing people for who they are
And something something about her being out there while they try to clean the couch - the place where life was created and her representing death and so cannot actually face life and all it’s mess

How are the gay firefighters? What's the couch theory?
Gay firefighters are great, 911anon!
Couch theory hmmmm how best to summarize.
There’s a lot more layers to this but on a base level:
Earlier this season, Buck is cooking for Eddie and Christopher (Lasagna and it’s his third try) when Christopher makes fun of him for not having a couch. Buck reveals that he associates his couches with his relationships and that he’s worried about picking a new one (couch/relationship).
In the last episode, we see that his mother (who he’s largely estranged from) has bought him a new couch. Try as he might, Buck can’t fall asleep on it both due to interruptions and apparent discomfort. When feed up with people visiting, he heads to Eddie’s where falls asleep on Eddie’s couch before Eddie even returns from the kitchen with drinks.
Buck’s actor (Oliver) has revealed that the couch Buck’s mom bought won’t last.
More in-depth analysis here, here, and here
Basically, couch theory is a canonical idea about Buck relating couches to his relationships with people.

[image description: 4 gifs of evan buckley and eddie diaz from 9-1-1. the gifs are arranged in two rows, 2 gifs per row. the two gifs in the left column depict a scene from season 5 episode 13, and the two gifs in the right column depict scenes from other episodes of season 5.
gif 1: buck stands outside eddie’s bedroom door. speaking to eddie through the door, he says, “hey, eddie. it’s, uh...it’s me. can i come in?” after he asks if he can come in, he tries during the door knob.
gif 2: from season 5 episode 11. standing in eddie’s kitchen, buck stares at eddie with a bemused expression as eddie dismisses his concern and turns away from him.
gif 3: buck looks around briefly before speaking to eddie again through the door again, warning, “all right, eddie, i-i’m gonna come in, okay?”
gif 4: two gifs. the first is from season 5 episode 14. the camera follows eddie as he walks into his dining room, where buck is standing and putting away christopher’s coloring utensils. the second is from season 5 episode 18. eddie listens to buck as he talks and patches up eddie’s bedroom wall.

i feel like some people moved on too quickly from the parallel in 5x11 of the couple in the rigged truck and buck and eddie post shooting like… we should switch spots because the kid(s) need you more than me??? i am more disposable than you let me prove it to you?? and then the insistence of how dare you think that what do i have to do to prove you wrong???
anyway i am not over it

I lowkey think a guy needs to flirt with Eddie in order for Eddie to have his gay awakening ‘oh’ moment or whatever we wanna call it. Aside from fucking realization.
But yeah no I think straight up another dude needs to rizz up Eddie and then the two become best friends and Eddie one day just goes off about Buck to his friend and the friend is just ‘oh so you love him?’ AND THAT’S WHEN EDDIE HAS HIS ‘OH’ MOMENT

Just a small reminder, that Disney owns ABC and Fox. Even last year before the season 6 annoucement, there was talk of 911 moving to ABC. So this isn't a "Fox cancelled 911 and ABC saved it" situation. It's probably been in the works for a while.

You know what’s really gonna change now that Eddie and Buck are both single?
It must be such a relief for them both that they can go back to just...using their keys to each other’s places freely, being there when they get home if they want, coming in like Eddie did in 301 to get them out of the house. Just to be able to think “I wanna see him” and get in their car and drive over without worrying about it being weird or intruding if their girlfriend is there.
Because they’ve likely only been coming over when invited for a while now for that reason. Not because they feel like they wouldn’t be wanted any time before, just because now, the biggest risk again is that they’re out of those and they’d have to wait until they get back. That’s gonna be nice for them.
And that’s what’s gonna remind them of what they are to each other too. Because it’s not explicit, but it is a little more in the right direction for them to be self aware of the fact that they spend so much time together and want to spend so much time together that, like Taylor at Buck’s loft before she moved in, ‘they’re basically living together’.
If they have the opportunity to go back to that, how it was in season 3 as well as when we saw it ourselves more in 4, they’ll be able to notice that the only reason they don’t, or didn’t, spend 24/7 together is because they didn’t have the opportunity. And how they don’t wanna leave. They stay later; they have a harder time saying goodnight. And eventually, they can notice that they don’t want to have to go to sleep or wake up without each other. All that does is takes up gas because they’re just gonna immediately go to each other anyways.
In season 4A, they were moving towards something. But I don’t think it was that they were getting progressively closer. I think they were there. They had a system. Maybe even a consistent schedule of whose to go to after work today. Alternating, what game to play with Chris this week, etc. They had an established routine revolving around one another. All they were hurdling towards was awareness.
As long as they’re able to do what they want like that, they’ll do it every day. Of course they will. They’ll fall into a rhythm. And, because nothing is stopping them, they’ll stay like that. It’ll become just...their life. And noticing that they’ve built a life together is the first step towards understanding what that means.
From there, they can realize that they’re happy that way; that they like it when them being together is the baseline, with all other events of going out with/over to friends’ being branches off of each other until they come back - until they come back home; that relationships had been, to put it bluntly, obstacles to this life with one another; that they don’t want their life together to change - and that means not dating. And that seems to mean that they want this life with each other forever, seemingly instead of the previous marriage ideal. And what does that mean to want one another in place of a romantic partner? And then oh, they are so close we’re shouting at our TVs.
And honestly, that is the thing I’m curious about. How they’re gonna do it. How they’re gonna realize. Because they can get still very far with nothing “proving” romantic. And I guess that’s where all that self reflection comes into play. Because Buck isn’t gonna get it just from knowing what he wants in a partner, even if it’s an ever more specific description of Eddie, if he’s still oblivious to considering men.
So maybe this is where the predicted Eddie-initiation comes in. He’s gotta start it off, get the ball rolling, has to, by continuing to self reflect as he has been doing. And based on what we’ve seen of therapized-Eddie, I trust him to. He knows he’s repressed. And he seems to understand that you don’t know what you don’t know. And hopefully, that will lead him to question everything, even seemingly “just in case” things he may be sure of like his sexuality. If he can take everything and really consider it, he’ll run into some things that are still as he always believed, but he’ll also be able to open that door and open his eyes to Buck. And he can do what he wants for himself. And he can bring this newfound knowledge to Buck. And I honestly don’t think Buck would have even thought of it, we’ll see, but I don’t. But as soon as they’re both open to the idea, it makes so much sense. And they can go from there. And we’re there.
These posts are always way longer than I intend them to me but I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them. I originally just meant to say “they can use their keys again” but then it got me thinking and the ball a-rolling :).

My dad sent me this picture he took of me watching the season 6 finale and I legit have been laughing hysterically for the past 5 minutes. This is like, not even 5 minutes into the episode. I really thought something terrible was about to happen huh? (There's a teddy bear somewhere under that blanket too)
